For this ship, I love the obsession!! Jun Wu spent 800 years keeping tabs on Xie Lian and is heavily implied to have interfered to cause many of the disasters Xie Lian experienced.

The entirety of the novel is caused by Jun Wu's schemes to bring Xie Lian to his side!! Before Xie Lian even ascended he had wanted to appoint Xie Lian as his junior official, and when Mei Nianqing wouldn't allow it he triggered Xie Lian's ascension by having him fight the Yinian Bridge Ghost! Like, he knew what and who he wants he'll do anything to have them

And the way it's well known, and seen time and time again in the novel that Jun Wu shows Xie Lian a lot favoritism and more leniency than anyone else in heaven. Jun Wu was ready to get rid of (most of) the heavenly court but wanted to keep Xie Lian by his side! Mei Nianqing has that line about how "Jun Wu doesn't want to kill Xie Lian, not at all, in fact he really likes him"

And then there's Xie Lian's ultimate trust and respect for his emperor. Literally Xie Lian lists Jun Wu as one of the people he trusts without question (and in the same breath list Bai Wuxiang as the person he fears the most!!)

They see so much of themselves in each other!! It drove Jun Wu to do many terrible things, but for Xie Lian it drove him to show mercy and give him his bamboo hat at the end of the novel. Overall there's just so much fascinating stuff going on between them <3

I don't care that much about spoilers so sometimes I come across one by accident which would have been nice to not have been spoiled on but it's not that big of a deal and sometimes I spoil myself on purpose (there are faves of mine I wouldn't have started/continued if I hadn't gotten spoiled about something I thought would be interesting) and sometimes being spoiled on something gives me mildly to wildly wrong ideas about the story and how things get to that point and/or continue after it that it turns into a whole other experience.

#the only spoiler i can remember getting mad at is when i was reading pandora hearts online #on a site where you could add little notes to the page that other readers could see unless they turned that feature off #(don't remember the name of the site it was something generic like readmanga or mangahere or smth)#anyway some asshole had left a note with like *the* major spoiler for the entire manga on the first page #even if i don't care much about spoilers it was just a huge dick move #pandora hearts #svsss #mdzs #tgcf #mxtx #tsubasa reservoir chronicle #golden terrace #ascendance of a bookworm
