g/t prompt 48
servant is under magical computation to follow orders
master unexpectedly shrinks small enough that servant can no longer hear coherent words and is not obligated to follow orders they cannot hear or comprehend
past instructions may still be in effect
if this includes orders to ignore their presence then it sets up an unaware scenario that lasts longer that it normally would
it could be ambiguous if servant is feigning ignorance
other people coming to the house could be the ticking clock pushing the master to fix the situation
master may have to convince servant to help them without relying on direct commands
alternate take - robot girl following asimovs three laws

I shall try to cheer up when Arthur comes, or else I know he will be miserable to see me so.
A very sad contrast to the Harkers' beautiful communication. Particularly, to Jonathan's frank admission to Mina about his condition. He tells her that he has been mad and is uncertain about what, if anything, was real or simply dreaming.
Lucy has also been having horrible dreams. She's also feeling weak and in pain, and unaware of what the true cause is. But she tries to push through it, to downplay it, to put on a happy face so as not to upset Arthur.

Hi there! I was wondering if you know and could share any simple spells for making someone call/message us back? Thank you!
Dress a small candle with some form of drawing oil and/or powder and light it, raising your power and aligning the forces you work with in ways pertinent to your craft.
When ready, take up a Bay Leaf and write upon one face of it the full name of your target, as well as the phone number (or social media handle) they use to communicate with you. Say thrice, "I call on you, [Name]!" Flip over the leaf, and on the other side of it, proceed to write your own full name and phone number (or social media handle) that they use to contact you. Say thrice, "I cover you, [Name]!"
Take up a second Bay Leaf and repeat this process exactly. Once this is done, spread a bit of molasses and ground calamus root on the sides of each leaf that bear your target's name. Press and stick these leaves together, sandwhiching the molasses and calamus between them, with your information facing out from either side. When these are satisfyingly stuck together, use the flame of the dressed candle to ignite and burn the Bay Laurel, Molasses, and Calamus (ideally within a flame-safe vessel.) As it burns, give a thirteenth and final call of, "Ashes to Ashes; Dust to Dust; and [Name] to me—and [Name] to me!"
Give a call of conclusion to disperse the powers gathered, and collect the burnt remnants of the leaves. Allow the candle to burn down and take the Ashes from the spell outside to be scattered on the wind—that it might help to carry your desire to the target of your spell.

still not over smeyer adding imprinting to twilight
the way it cheapens the narrative and serves no purpose other than for smeyer to tie Jacobs story in a neat and complete box
it absolutely negates and spits on the pain and character development Jacob was going through in eclipse and breaking dawn

Intrusive thoughts are back, they are loud and horrible. I am so scared that something bad will happen to my loved ones because of me and my bad thoughts.
My psychologist once told me that this thing it's called "magical thinking OCD". She also reassured me that although these thoughts are heavy I really do not have the power to make something like a car crash happen just because for a second the thought of it crossed my mind.
What my psychologist said helped me rationalize but sometimes when the thoughts are many I still feel extreme anxiety and fear.
For me having this type of OCD means obsessions about being a bad person, fear of hurting people, and mental compulsions to avoid it. And it's really scary and consuming because it's all in my head and people don't see how stressed and tired I am from trying to push away the intrusive thoughts.
Talking about it it's not easy, especially because I fear that saying my thoughts out loud will make them even more concrete and I don't usually do this kind of post but I feel the need to say to everyone out there with this OCD type that you are not alone.
Always remember that they are "just" thoughts and that they can't define you as a peron and neither make people you love get hurt.

One thing that really bothers me in the OCD community is the way we fight over representation.
There are many different ways to experience OCD, because OCD has quite a vague definition, only describing the cognitive process and not going into specifics. And there's nothing wrong with that, it just means there are many different themes, different obsessions, different compulsions.
However the general public only knows OCD through incorrect stereotypes and media representation, which the OCD community attempts to fight. But it's happened in a sort of counterintuitive way.
It's started with the stereotype of OCD meaning you like things clean and organized as a quirk. Then people with contamination OCD and incompleteness OCD said "Actually, we don't do this because we think it's quirky, we do it because we feel in danger if we don't." But then people with magical thinking OCD, attempting to fight the original stereotype, said "No, OCD never looks like cleaning and organization. OCD is having irrational fears and compulsions that don't make sense, like flipping a light switch so your mother doesn't die." Then, in order to combat that stereotype that magical thinking people created, people with HOCD and ROCD said "No, OCD never looks like that. It looks like fearing hurting people or fearing that your partner doesn't love you."
That's where we're up to now, and I'm not looking forward to the next development, haha.
But as I said, OCD is a very broad disorder, it can be experienced in many different ways. None of those people were wrong about their OCD, but they were wrong about their OCD being the only kind of OCD. And many people know this, but still say things like "No, OCD doesn't look like that", full well knowing it can, because they want their type to get more attention. We don't need to do that. We should say "Yes, OCD can look like that, but it can't also look like this."
I don't know, just an observation.

the reason antipsych really appeals to me even as i am hesitatn about it is that i am in this paradoxical state as an insane person where i am too sane about my insanity and it led to many professionals dismissing my (usually correct) judgement. like i am cognizant of my delusions. there is a part of me that is like, you are delusional right now, but that doesnt stop me from believing it. when i explain this to a mental health professional, they tell me this is not delusion. i dont know how to tell you this but when you are unable to sleep because you are struck by the thought that your arm that is attached to your body may be an escaped convict that is out to get you the knowledge that that is illogical and impossible is unhelpful even coming from yourself.
like as soon as you are able to reflect on yourself with any level of self awareness and come to the conclusion that you need help you do not need help. it can only be forced onto you unwillingly. you can only be coerced into it. this is such a carceral system.

Pssst hi baba!! :D I wanted to toss a silly thought to you. Glenn and Jodie take the s1 kids to the beach (probably non-magic au). Glenn helps the kids bury a willing Jodie in the sand. I think they did a coin toss for it which Glenn won. The sand is shaped into the classic mermaid style. Probably has a sand sword in one hand and a guitar in the other. Later, Jodie and Glenn also prepare a water balloon fight. Jodie teams up with the kids against Glenn for a bit until Nicky and the twins switch sides. Feeling chilly today so I'm channeling the summer vibes haha
Hi Countless!!! THIS IS SO CUTE. I'm particularly weak for beach-related stuff cause the stuff during the beach episodes with the S1 kids (spooky stories, driving lessons, etc.) makes up some of my favorite moments in the show 🥺.
Hehe I can imagine the smug look on Glenn's face when he wins the coinflip. You said a sword but I can't help imagining a trident for Jodie King Neptune style hahaha (fuck this is making me think of mermaid AUs hehehehehe I'm such a sucker for mermaid AUs god damn it I'm a simple gal). Also thinking of Glenn teasing Jodie and making the kids laugh the whole time and Jodie feigning annoyance (but really he's having fun, and happy to see Nicky having a good time with the other kids).
Aaaaw and the water balloon fight is really cute too <3. Love the twins and Nicky switching sides to help Glenn- for a small sec I was like "hm is that unbalanced?" but actually I think Grant and Terry would be quite effective in a water balloon fight tbh haha (*especially* Grant he doesn't miss lmao).
:3 Thanks for the ask Countless!

17, 28, 31 and 32, for Melliywk!
17. how did they spend their summers/free time as a child?
In general, gnomish childhood is for exploration and trying new things, so a little bit of all kinds of things! But, in particular, she got into tinkering really young-- one time as a little little kid she woke up early and borrowed her dad's alarm clock to take apart; it made him late for work, but it also resulted in Mel getting her very own alarm clock, as well as her own beginner toolset and strict instructions to please ask for her own things to muck about with, lol. Her mom's the handyman of the house, so she learned a lot about various hand tools and basic repair tasks from her, and she was definitely doing rube goldberg setups and Sid Toystory type shit in her room all the time. She also has a lot of really fond memories of going out on bug collecting daytrips with her dad!
28. how do they show that they care about someone? how do they express that they don't like someone?
Melliwyk does a lot of teasing and playful banter; she's a little bit just like that in conversation in general, but for example she (lovingly) picks on Zhartook a lot, lol. She tends to be kind of self-absorbed-- not in an egoistic way but just, you know, wrapped up in her work and not really thinking about other people, so she's not always proactively caring towards others, but if she can get outside her own bubble at all once in awhile she can be surprisingly thoughtful. One of her main love languages is acts of service-- she's always delighted to put down whatever she's doing to help others when asked, and does a fair number of projects just on the basis of 'might be nice/ useful for [friend]'.
On the other hand, she's not subtle about disliking others, or even being temporarily mad at them, lol. She can be kind of a petty little shit, frankly-- biting sarcasm and cold shoulders. At the very least, she's not as warm and friendly as usual, and certainly not playful. She's had sort of a... precarious falling out with our bard that I frankly don't wanna get into but the point is it kind of doesn't feel safe for her to be obvious about her dislike for him :') But she's just sort of withdrawn from interacting with him more than she needs to, and maintains a baseline politeness at most, neither of which is too hard to manage when she can tend to be kind of a recluse anyway.
31. do they like receiving gifts? giving gifts? what is their ideal gift?
Gift giving is her other biggest love language! She loves making things, much more than she cares about having things, so she really likes making stuff for her friends, whether it's something she thinks would be useful for them or just something she thinks they might like or appreciate. She's also (usually) happy, if not excited, to get magic items into the hands of whomever in the party would make the best use of them, or to loan out hers if she's not willing to give them up permanently (like the cloak of elvenkind, which was a gift, or the ring of the depths, which has shockingly powerful magic in it for a novelty item [at-will shapechange, but only into very low level sea animals] and is an artifact of an ancient artificer she admires; she's even offered to let our fighter borrow the enchanted nightcap she literally never takes off because of chronic nightmares, if she thought it might prevent nasty people casting Dream on her to fuck with her).
She also does absolutely like receiving gifts! On the receiving end she's very much an 'it's the thought that counts' person-- any gift that the person clearly meant sincerely is going to make her happy and be greatly valued, whether it's something really thoughtful and personal or just a gag gift they thought she'd think was funny. It'd be hard to nail down a specific 'ideal gift' for her, but obviously any magic item would be top tier.
32. do they have any habits that aren't particularly self-destructive, just maybe odd?
I don't roleplay this as much as I'd like because it'd be kind of disruptive over video calls as opposed to in person, but she talks to herself a lot, in the form of thinking out loud. She was a hermit for a really long time, and kind of a loner even among others for awhile before that, so she's quite strongly in the habit of rubber-ducking to Baxter, even when he's not actually around. When they first started traveling together I imagine there was a significant adjustment period where she'd start talking conversationally through some problem, Zhartook would answer (likely in confusion), and she'd be startled and maybe a little annoyed because she's not talking to him and also not expecting any kind of response at all aside from maybe encouraging 'hmm's now and then, lol. She also talked to her house's ghost a lot, despite not believing he actually existed; 'Now cut that out' when the wind was noisy in the chimney or 'I'll be back soon, don't get into too much trouble while I'm gone' when she had to go into town, etc.
ask about my OCs :3
