Prince of Rage- Active Destruction of Rage

Princes have the power to destroy. They are the axe at the tree, if they don’t like that tree, they’ll chop it down. Changing environments forever through the sheer force of their will. Princes can be dangerous, don’t get me wrong I won’t sugar it. But since they cannot change who they are no matter how they’d sometimes like to? They have to learn to direct the chopping toward the trees that need it, and to leave the healthy trees alone.

Has stubbornness become so deep within your conviction that your very rage falters under the control of your determination to remain defiant? Did that even make sense? To those who said yes, you’re one step closer to understanding the Prince of Rage.

Prince of Rage… When people say they bottle their emotions? This Prince in particular, not only has a really huge bottle. They put all their negativity inside that shit. No matter what it is. Their rage falters under the control of their determination to remain defiant. But why? Because of their conviction to control the pure unadulterated anger toward this world. They have it in them, to protect everyone they hold dear… From themselves.

And because they’re stubborn.

But… The most straightforward path isn't always the best one…

You’ll be surprised to hear me say it, but an inwardly focused Prince of Rage is. Actually the malevolent one. Kurloz in particular, was a great example of this type of Prince.

They were calm. Unsettlingly so. The trolls of that session were unnerved by their kind demeanor… and they were right to be so. He wanted to end them. To bring caliborn, to fulfill the prophecy of the vast Honk. Giving Gamzee his robes to help make it happen. Serving under him, without complaint. 

Yet deep down… he never wanted this.

A chewed tongue, sewn lips. A relationship tainted. A dream, a nightmare so vile that he screamed out a cry so loud that meulin’s ears never recovered.

When I said that Princes have a really big bottle. I really did mean it. It’s just that Kurloz’s bottle reached its top and broke open. Letting out all the negativity and hatred within him that he’d stored up to that point, out.

It’s not healthy to bottle things up. I know we get a bigger bottle every time the last one breaks but… Meulin…? It’s not worth hurting the people around you.

So? That's why I say a benevolent Prince of Rage is outwardly focused. They forget about bottling things up and instead? They use that rage to great effect. They don’t necessarily yell at every soul they see. But they will indeed yell at the person who’s judging their friend. Effectively destroying rage for others. Instead of themselves. 

If they see any negativity in others? They’re more likely to kindly and gently address what was needed. Than to ever scream. Because kindness soothes the soul more than any other outburst.

The Prince of Rage? May have the potential to be the kindest Classpect of them all. Destroying hatred and ill will, accepting it within themselves, but then addressing it by being kind no matter what toward others.

I will repeat myself. This is the Kindest benevolent Classpect.

Leo's so entirely like me, he gets my exact classpect. i used to hate him for it but now I love him for it

Carl I used to think could be Mind or Life aspect-wise, and possibly a bard classwise. Hell, there's an argument to be made for Witch of Space. Carl's hard to get a grasp on when it comes to these things. He's so often a non-actor in the story, but his inaction comes across as self-serving sometimes. His route lends the most credibility to both the Mind and Life aspects, in relation to Carl's need to decide what he wants without input from others as well as the decisions which granted him his family fortune. Actually. Witch of Mind Carl. Final answer.

Tj is pretty defined by his knowing of the details of the tragedy which changed everyone's life. Mages are prophets whose words both harm and benefit them. Tj is damned if he says the truth and damned if he doesn't. Keeping it in burns him and yet keeps things the way they are. Saying it frees him and yet causes everything to collapse.

Jenna's Classpect I saw coming from the beginning. Biased as she is, her every word on the conduct of her friends is correct. She manages to see through to the heart of Echo but fails to see it as anything of worth. It's a place she hates with her whole being, I think. Her problem isn't if she can see, but whether she can judge it fairly

Flynn i also saw from the beginning. Rage concerns actual rage, but also arbitrations, tangents, and contrivances. Flynn seeks to cut through all the bullshit that rage represents, which is honestly a pretty Light thing to do, but i believe he shares more in common with Blood and worldly suffering than with Breath and detatched idealism. Thieves struggle to be good, but I don't think that's flynn's thing completely. He wishes to join the two versions of his persona that exist, but this doesnt map very cleanly onto any class. Thief it is

Sonic Classpects <3

I designed them to be a twelve player session because I thought that was more fun :-) I didn't necessarily keep gender specific classes/aspects in mind. Do, however, keep in mind that classpects aren't always a one-to-one with characters' personalities. Sometimes, they're roles that they have to come into, or accept.

Also, if anyone draws them in their godtier outfits I will be eternally grateful. Sonic: Heir of Hope Sonic is a symbol of hope; whether he realizes it or not, his actions carry weight. That means that although overall he inspires a positive change— bringing hope to others— if he makes a mistake, it brings despair instead. In this regard, Sonic is hope personified.

Tails: Mage of Light Tails uses knowledge as a weapon, sometimes to his detriment. He's often given seemingly impossible quests, with not much time to complete them. You could argue that he's cursed to be the brains in a team full of brawns. That being said, he seeks out knowledge like a moth drawn to a flame; he lives off of it.

Knuckles: Knight of Rage Knuckles's entire purpose is to protect and serve, both his friends and Angel Island. However, rather than being a level-headed knight archetype, Knuckles is a hot-headed warrior, thinking with his fists, rather than his brain. This leads him to have a bit of an anger problem, which can also bring rage to those around him.

Amy: Sylph of Heart Amy is self-absorbed, only in the sense that she believes that what is in her heart is always right. Apart from that, she looks to heal the heavy hearts of those around her, even animals, and complete strangers. She is caring and giving at her best, and volatile and clingy at her worst.

Metal Sonic: Page of Doom Metal Sonic was built to be a harbinger of doom, and continues to do so of his own volition. He has great potential, but is held back by his own insecurities— which can mean he was programmed with limitations, or that he has a more human side that conflicts with his programming. Because of this, he becomes doomed himself, in an infinite cycle of being destroyed and rebuilt.

Shadow: Prince of Blood Shadow is driven by his bonds, whether it's to his friends or enemies, and those in the past or those in the future. He uses these relationships as excuses to wreak havoc. Therefore, he can be seen as selfish, whether his cause is noble or not. In truth, Shadow is more stubborn than anything. Though he defines himself by his relationships, he is often misunderstood.

Rouge: Thief of Space Rouge is incredibly patient and adaptable, traits that are imparative for a jewel thief. Her passion is taking things for herself, which may be egocentric by nature, she is known to have good intentions. She is naturally confident when it comes to her abilities, and isn't above using her feminine charm to accomplish her goals.

Blaze: Maid of Mind Blaze is calm and collected, weighing the multitude of options before acting. She also has this effect on others as well, getting them to see her reasoning. She is often rigid, as she's used to making the tough decisions, and carries that burden with responsibility. However, hardships can cause her to act out of character, being paralyzed by choice, or leaving her fiery temper to take over.

Silver: Witch of Time. Silver has been known to manipulate time, both figuratively and literally. While he can time travel with ease, he also has an unwillingness to take things as they are. That being said, he also has a tendency to end up in difficult and dreary situations. He's constantly stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Vector: Rogue of Breath Vector may be a detective, but he doesn't play by the book. He lives as he pleases, being able to slip into the role of leader, bodyguard, comedic relief, etc. However, this can make him hard to pin down. As a detective, he takes others' autonomy by bringing them to justice. This not only helps feed him and his partners, but it also keeps the streets clean.

Espio: Bard of Void Espio is a stealthy character, at first glance, Able to become invisible, he's able to stealthily gain the upper hand on his opponent. However, he also has the innate desire to show off; he's cool and he wants others to know it, even if he acts nonchalant about it. In both ways he destroys void: either by filling it or filling its role.

Charmy: Seer of Life Charmy is the charisma and joy of Team Chaotix. He wants to bring life to his friends be being upbeat and having fun. Though he may be a naïve child, he's still attuned to others' feelings, and desires to empower them best he can. He isn't always great at it, sometimes coming off as annoying and overeager instead.

Wuhoh. That's one mentally ill session.

I’ll start with a quick rundown of how the classpects would interact with each other

The prince of blood and witch of hope will be at consant odds, with the prince desprately self sabotaging their relationships and the witch drying desperately to hold everything together. I could see the witch getting especially upset at the prince while trying to self sabotage because the witch is trying so hard to hold everything together and this is the thanks they get? They won't have a fun time.

And all the mages. Oof mages are especially troubled, and will go through a lot throughout the session. The mage of time self isolating out of panic, and sprinkled with a high possibility of someone dying right in front of them or they themself dying.

The mage of life would likely be shoved into a leader role that they can not mentally handle, forced to make decisions they do not have the confidence to make.

The mage of mind would likely succumb to the witch of hope, forcing themself to grit their teeth and get through the session without a complaint. This won't last long, they'll break eventually.

The knight of heart would naturally hide behind themself, likely not knowing how to do anything else. They’d get along with the mind player as they would be going through similar things. I could see them having the closest relationship within the group.

Now, we know a session is not viable without a knight, a time player, and a space player, which we are missing the latter. However, I personally like to subscribe to session fuckery so let’s see how we can make this session alive.

The mage of time would know the session is already doomed, and would try to explain this, likely getting nowhere with the witch. The session would be an absolute mess until the witch of hope sucks up their pride and understands that the session is doomed.

If god tiered, the witch can go absolutely drunk on hope, making a universe tadpole, or at the very least a ghost imprint of one to be created.

The mage of life can bring the tadpole to life, leaving the knight to take care of it. I wouldn’t be surprised of the knight went to the time player for assistance as well.

Once met with the Ultimate Reward, the time player should be able to release the tadpole, making the new universe.

Well, Bard of Void? You came to the right place, this won't be your typical bard post with gnarly horns, jagged teeth, cod-pieces and shoosh paps.

In fact none of my bard posts will be that way.

My posts are raw. As I give you my honest take to the true uniqueness of whoever is out there reading this. Theres very little structure. But, I hope you like it like that.

I am the Mage of Heart, and here is my review!

Bard of Void

In order to remove Aspect, it has to go somewhere. But where do secrets go? Well, there's truth.

But what is truth in the face of a black hole? The true embodiment of mystery, the enigma of a black hole is at it's very core? -We know basically nothing about them-

And this Bard is no different. You'll see what I mean.

As many of us know many bards start their lives defacing their aspect, and ripping it to shreds. (This is often times needed.)

At this point they are destroying void, which means they will not keep secrets, I didn't say cannot, I said will not. They refuse to be apart of anything enigmatic, shady, hidden, secretive, and the like. They probably have a deep fear of the deep blue sea that's relative to the situation. But If they were swimming, and they couldn't see beneath them/it's just a bottomless void? They would royally flip the fuck out.

When I mentioned they refuse to be apart of anything shady, that isn't entirely true. Because they've got a bloodhound nose for anything people want kept secret. This Bard at this stage will have no regard for that. They suck that shit up and spit it back out. The Wildcard class, will act the part when unnecessary. But that doesn't mean they will be like this forever, no. This is just the beginning.

People will begin to catch on, and scold the Bard of Void for being too nosy, and telling. They shall be exiled as that one person who upset the delicate order of truth and lie.

So? They eventually will begin to, shoosh pap themselves. They won't tell a soul what which where how or why. Because they got shamed for the grief they set upon people. and now they feel it too. They are now destroying through void.

If any bard remains in either one of these stages for long... two very different contrasts of black and white moral immoral, me-amano...

There will be dire consequences to what will be.

Because the true word for Bards, is finding BALANCE within themselves. Mind body and spirit. In order to grasp just what it takes to be the master of both worlds of light and void, as a void player.

They will need to understand. that for their own sake and everyone around them. That they are important in their own way, That their secrets, sucking everything in for it to stay there forever? Isnt healthy. I recommend an effective moirail to help vent out all the horrible shit you see and witness so you don't internalize it - You need to stay healthy. Try not to destroy with void as to suck it all up and spit it out. But also don't keep it all hidden neither. Prune, don't eviscerate. Deep breaths. Because you've got this. You absolutely do matter, despite what some might say. YOU ARE IMPORTANT. As well as you being a shy, sensitive, knowledgeable person. Keep in mind that the things you share do affect people, and can lead some down some sticky roads. Pay heed to TACT, Keep BALANCE, and remember. You're IMPORTANT to the world. Why? Because I say so. :)

Mages & Seers: Experience and Comprehension

Those who know, everybody. I love Seers - so this should be one hell of an analysis.

The Mage:Seer class dichotomy embodies experience, comprehension and knowledge of their Aspect. Their Quest and their role in the session revolves wholly around their personal comprehension of their Aspect; and the ways in which that may shift or change their (or others!) viewpoint.

I can't definitively say they're one of the Classes that say something about their session, beyond perhaps the concept that a Mage or a Seer will obviously have a well of knowledge on their Aspect present.

Canonical Mage players are Sollux Captor (Mage of Doom) and Meulin Leijon (Mage of Heart).

Canonical Seer players are Rose Lalonde (Seer of Light), Terezi Pyrope (Seer of Mind) and Kankri Vantas (Seer of Blood).

Point A. The narrative function of the Mage.

Mages know about their Aspect. They are that simple to understand. A lot of people will argue that the Mage is one of the more nebulous classes in Homestuck; and I'd argue this is because there really isn't much in the way of complexity with them. They've got a fairly straightforward relationship with their Aspect; having experienced it wholly throughout their life prior to the session.

It's almost, to me, as if their Aspect haunts them in a sense. We see this with Sollux's recurring visions of Doom and misfortune; considering that the Mages & Seers are meant to fill a sort of 'prophet' archetype.

Sollux is consistently depicted as knowledgeable on coding (a manifestation of Doom in the form of rigid order and regulation) and holding a vast well of knowledge and foresight on the topic of suffering. It's important to hold the distinction that Doom does not deal directly with absolute death (Time does), and so Sollux's visions are of the imminently doomed and the suffering, not the already deceased.

Meulin is a little more difficult to pin down, but inference from stray lines of dialogue and particularly her complex moirallegiance with Horuss give me some substance to work with. Toxic positivity? Alluded 'darkness' in her without elaboration? Her disability being inflicted directly as a result of her partner & lover? I think what we're looking at here is depression.

If Meulin has experience with Heart in all facets - this implies to me that she has a share of experience with emotion in all facets. Good and bad. And what better manifestation of poor emotional control than that? I think it's a very conclusive theory.

It becomes clear to me that Mages aren't absolute in their assertions, and so therein comes my theory that their quest involves an expansion of perspective and reconsideration of their knowledge. It is to accept that they may not understand their Aspect as thoroughly as once thought and subsequently grow to accomodate a wider worldview. They're stagnant, having experienced so much that they feel they have no further room to learn.

Point B. The practical function of the Mage.

This is a more difficult one to understand since neither Mage in the comic God Tiers and they aren't seen fighting much over the course of the story. Even when Sollux takes to action, he applies his psiionics rather than utilising Doom in any way.

My theory is that the application of a Mage is to inform. Mages & Seers may very well hold the same occupation broadly speaking, to accomodate for the gaps in co-players' knowledge and bring about newfound understanding. Being active players, the Mages presumably advance this through their own means. This is some of the most active conjecture I'll be writing, since we do not ever see a God-Tiered Mage in canon.

Point C. The narrative function of the Seer!

In case it wasn't obvious, I am very excited to get this segment done; after all, who better to talk on the topic of Seers than... a Seer?

Seers have a little more depth to their function involving their relationship with both their Aspect and its diemetric opposite. Seers begin their sessions holding a poor or deficient comprehension of their Aspect; to the point where they seek their opposite. The notion of their base Aspect comes into play fairly soon - though they may superficially seek their opposite, it is their Aspect they seek in actuality.

They do hold a certain level of foresight, but rather than the Mage's inherent comprehension, Seers tend to rely upon external sources and stimuli to further their understanding; Rose with the Horrorterrors, Terezi with Scratch & Aranea, and we can only guess with Kankri.

They are capable of having visions, though - as Rose & The Signless can both attest to!

Rose seeks Void. She seeks to breach the unknowable, catalogues the Zoologically Dubious and finds comfort in oblivion and the pursuit of ignorance. She resolves to leave the game to Void rather than seek its Light; at first.

Terezi seeks Heart. Her final speech to Vriska talks of her emotional insecurity and pursuit of self-assurance. She wishes most prominently for security in herself and her identity; and yet this manifests in a flawed pursuit of binary, deficient Mind.

Kankri seeks Breath. Having been coddled and patronised all his life, freedom is his ultimate aim. His rebellious spirit and compulsive boot-licking seem to be a direct manifestation of his desire to think for himself and be free in his direction. Kankri's a particularly interesting one given that he fucked up his quest, canonically.

...The Signless didn't, however. The Signless pursued unity through freedom his whole life.

Rose resolves to pursue knowledge through the unknown.

Terezi seeks logic through emotion.

All of them grow, the further they pursue their Session's aims, to understand their base Aspect. It's a reversal of the Mage's quest; the stagnant Mage must embrace diversity wheras the directionless Seer embraces their certain path.

Point D. The practical function of the Seer.

Apologies, this is going to be mostly just about Rose.

Rose's role in her session post-ascension is to understand and inform her session-mates about the most fortuitous path. Her visions allow her to comprehend Light and sift through the endless possibilities and synthesis of her Aspect to find the most precise outcome. They grow to be an indispensible well of knowledge; always learning and finding out their Aspect's truth.

Terezi does the same, albeit without ascending; her greatest moment of heroism is the prelude to the Retcon, which she directly causes. Terezi applies all of her knowledge of consequence, cause & effect to undo the resultant consequences of the actions taken by her sessionmates. She uses her comprehension of Mind to her utmost ability; which is why I find it gut-wrenching that she still believes she was never enough.

Kankri... does jack shit other than be a whiny little bootlicker, but The Signless certainly applies his Aspect for the greater good. The fire of his rebellion and his pursuit of unity and free communication on Alternia ignite the spark of revolution for generations to come; his quest for Blood bringing utmost comprehension and sight of unity.

Overall, this is one Class where the narrative:practical lines tend to blur a little, owing to the general non-combatant status of the Classes in general. Rose shows they're capable of using their Aspect in combat just as all players are; but it seems clear to me that they function the best as advisors.

Next week, I'll be elucidating on the Witches & Heirs; which will be an interesting one since it'll require me to actually understand what a Witch does. That should be fun.

Grimdark/Inverse Mage of Mind

So from my understanding, there's three main popular theories on how one goes about being Grimdark.

-Influenced by the Horrorterrors -Being consumed by their classpect - Rejecting their classpect

I wanted to just write about how I think a Mage of Mind would go about the last two points, since I just think it would be interesting and we already know how one gets influenced by the horrorterrors. You don't have to read if you don't like class inversion since I'm pretty sure they go together with grimdark(i don't care if class inversion is 'wrong', I think its cool anyways). These are just my thoughts but feel free to correct or add anything since this is pretty far from anything canon.

-Being consumed by their classpect

I don't think we've seen in canon anyone getting consumed or overwhelmed with their classpect, so this isn't really based on anything. Maybe a Mage of Mind being consumed by their classpect ending up grimdark would do whatever it takes to get their desired result, obsessive even, if it means being violent/and or controlling, then so be it. There's too many actions to take and the amount of knowledge hurts the Mage, knowing how one little action can completely doom a session. Maybe they don't trust their teammates to not fuck everything up and accidentally doom the session, since there's so many wrong actions they could take. Or maybe they were hurt from an action someone else took, lack of knowledge ending up hurting the Mage in the end. Either way, i think they try to take things into their own hands as a safety measure or just being selfish, forcefully making or threatening others to take certain actions, just so they could see the outcomes or get the desired results. And from what we know, going grimdark is going off the deep end in every which way possible and I would think this counts.

- Rejecting their classpect

I want to use Eridan, where it's theorized that before he started on a murder spree, that he went grimdark by destroying or rejecting Hope, in turn becoming a Rage player. I'm not sure if that's just because of his class, being the Prince of Hope, so he was able to destroy it. But with using this logic, if a Mage of Mind is one that knows what actions to take and should act on it, then the opposite of Mind is Heart and more specifically Heir of Heart is the inverse of a Mage of Mind. So maybe a Grimdark Mage of Mind would let go of taking action and reject logic, instead letting their feelings and emotions influence their actions. Instead letting others make their own actions and letting things just happen without doing anything at all to act on it. Maybe someone's making a terrible, fucked up session dooming action and the Mage of Mind just doesn't care and lets it happen, OR cares too much but still lets it happen, their emotions taking over and stunning them, unable to act logically. Summing up what I think classpect rejection would look like. Of course not every action that the Mage lets go of has to be dooming a session, but you could imagine how quickly that could mess a session up. This feels more class inversion than someone going grimdark, but I still wanted to add it.
