obsessed with the idea of remus lupin and madame pompfrey. remus spending every moon with her and thinking she favours him because she sees him more than anyone else, because she spends so much time and effort researching about his condition, only to realize he's not special at all and making students feel better was what she was paid for .

Lily : *smirks* *just smirks*
Pomfrey : I KNEW IT ! MY BOY'S THE TOP ! HA ! I TOLD YOU MINERVA ! MY BOY'S THE DOM !
Minnie : *gives her 5 galleons while looking visibly frustrated and glaring at Sirius*

Imagine if a patient tried to get violent or throw things at Madame Pomfrey while Remus was recovering in the infirmary.
That boy could be half dead or in a coma and still find the strength to crack open a can of whoop ass on anyone who dared to harm Poppy.

pen pals
943 words, @wolfstarmicrofic
On the other side of town, there was a hospital, where children in need of long-term care spent their days and nights. On this side of town, there was a boarding school, where children in need of discipline spent their days and nights.
As an act of further discipline, the Headteacher, Professor McGonagall, had decided that the students of Diagon Academy should write a letter to a patient in Pomfrey’s Hospital, and forge a new friendship, become pen pals for life.
According to Sirius, she was delusional. But he still wrote a letter.
- - -
With his incredibly bony, stick-like, shaking fingers, Remus wrote a letter to someone in the rich, stuffy boarding school, who would apparently become his pen pal for life. (Unlikely.) Firstly, he was Remus. No one wanted to be his friend. Even if they weren’t in their right mind, he was a sick, frail loser, unable to do anything except stutter and sit in awkward silence.
Secondly, the people at Diagon Academy were judgemental snobs. Posh and pretentious and loaded. Why would he befriend that?
- - -
Minerva and Poppy sorted through the letters in companionable chatter, pairing a student with a patient in a match they hoped would lead to a long-lasting friendship.
Once the pairs had been made, the children could keep addressing letters to their pen pal; the school Prefects and hospital wardens would be able to deliver the letters by reading the name on the envelope, ensuring the children got the privacy they needed to open up to each other.
Minerva wanted the slightly troubled (okay, very troubled) students at her school to learn how to care for someone who didn’t live in their narrow-minded world, and Poppy wanted the minorly self-loathing (okay, very self-loathing) patients at her hospital to open up to the possibilities of the world around them. Together, the couple had come up with the idea of pen pals, and together, they wanted this to work so badly.
“I think we’ve found the perfect pair,” Minerva commented as she held Remus’s and Sirius’s letters side-by-side.
Poppy grinned. “I bet those two’ll end up more than friends.”
- - -
Dear pen pal (for life, apparently; I think the nurse may be barmy, but she’s well-intentioned and she’s my favourite and I want it to be known that I am doing this for her. So if I make an embarrassment of myself, it was for her. And I’ll never even get out of this hospital, so I don’t care if you think I’m weird.)
I’m supposed to write about myself. I’m fifteen. I’m a boy. I’ve been sick for as long as I can remember and I look like undercooked pastry. I like reading. There’s not a lot you can do in hospital. But you do get stickers. I’m actually fond of my sticker album. You get a sticker for every injection you take, and when I was younger, I used to get stickers for talking, because I was and am an anti-social freak. I’m really selling this.
Anyway, I’ve organised the pages of my sticker album because I have nothing better to do. There’s a page for leaves from deciduous trees, animals that specifically live in the savanna, fruits which are FRUITS and that includes tomatoes, and a lot of other fully sorted pages. This is my legacy. I might die any day but I still made this impact.
Look, if you’ve read this far, I’ll have to assume you’re as weird as I am.
Yours,
Remus Lupin
Sirius traced over the wobbly penmanship of his pen pal with a grin on his face. Remus was funny. And nice. Those seemed like such simple adjectives, but Sirius meant them to such an intense degree.
He got to writing back about how he was so much weirder than Remus. Although Remus must already know that from Sirius’s introductory letter.
- - -
Dear pen pal,
Minnie, our lovely Headteacher, and my future wife, even though she’s resistant to my charms at the moment (I don’t know why, I’m literally the hottest hunk of meat in this school I’m kidding sorry too soon) (also it may be because she’s gay and so am I) anyway, Minnie came up with the fanciful idea of pen pals. She really hopes this will mean something, and I don’t wanna let her down now, do I?
I mean, I also hope this means something because she has POISONED my brain with these delusional fantasies, and so has my best mate. James really believes this will benefit the country or something from the way he talks.
So, about myself. (It may seem I like talking about myself. I hate it. I’d rather show people who I am.) So, I’m not gonna talk about myself! I’m mysterious like that. Oh-so-interesting.
Like, yesterday, James and I put bouillon cubes into all the shower-heads and the boys ended up smelling like chicken broth (us included). It was fucking GROSS. And fucking awesome. Minnie immediately knew it was us though. My mystery works on everyone but her (another reason we’re soulmates, I should tell her).
LOTS OF LOVE
SIRIUS BLACK, EL AMOR DE TU VIDA
Remus actually snorted. He’d been worried, initially, to see ‘POISONED’ glaring at him in swirling cursive when he cast a cursory glance down the letter, but then he saw ‘THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE’ in Spanish, and found that Sirius was a hyperbolic little shit.
He proceeded to write a letter to tell him exactly that. Oh, and another prank idea, because why not? It wasn’t like he’d be suspected. Maybe he could help Sirius and James with an original idea that couldn’t possibly be pinned on them.

Sign
Remus Lupin, who's hard of hearing but can't afford hearing aids always has to ask people to slow down or write what they're saying because most students don't know sign language.
Regulus Black, who's selectively mute and communicates mostly with sign language.
Regulus is going down to the medical wing to get a potion for Evan. He froze, seeing Remus, talking(?) to Pomfrey in sign language. Remus notices him, standing there frozen. He speaks up, “You alright there, mate?”
Regulus blinks, snapping out of his trance and nods, crossing over to Pomfrey, and signing, “I need a Pepperup for Evan”
“Of course, dear. One moment.” Pomfrey responds, walking off to get the potion.
Once she is out of view, Remus turns around to face Regulus, then signs to him, “You know sign?”
Regulus nods, “Yes, I do.” he signs in reply.
And that is how their friendship started.

Prompt 11 - Hot Toddy
@wolfstarmicrofic December 11, word count 478
Since they’d left Hogwarts and didn’t have access to the Hospital wing and the skills of Madam Pomfrey, Remus had to make do the best he could after his transformation each month.
This time, he’d caught a nasty cold, and no matter what potions Sirius brewed for him, it just wouldn’t shift. Sirius had been amazing and had even gone to Hogwarts to beg Madam Pomfrey to come help. It hadn’t taken much. As soon as he said it was for Remus. She’d packed up a medical bag and come back with Sirius. But even she couldn’t figure out how to help him.
It had been over a week, and Sirius had turned to muggle medicine. Remus could hear a lot of swearing and clattering in the kitchen. Remus hauled himself out of bed and wandered towards the herd of elephants parading in the flat.
His limbs felt heavy, and his joints ached, but he knew it was good for him to get out of bed, even if it was to deal with whatever catastrophe was going on.
Sirius stood facing away from him with an array of ingredients lined up on the counter and two mugs. Remus watched as Sirius mixed honey and firewhisky together, then added half a cinnamon stick and poured boiling water from the kettle into each mug.
The sweet, fiery smell hit Remus, and he groaned. It was the first thing he’d been able to smell since he had got his cold. Sirius nearly dropped the kettle. He spun around, grasping his chest as he chastised Remus for being out of bed.
“Get back to bed; I’ll be in in a minute.” He said, putting the kettle back on its base. Popped a slice of lemon studded with a clove into the steaming mugs. Remus had no idea what the drink was, but he couldn’t wait to try it.
He let Sirius usher him back to bed. He flopped back onto the mattress and tucked himself back under the covers. Sirius joined him and passed him one of the mugs.
Remus inhaled the fragrant steam.
“What is it?” He asked as he blew on the top of it, hoping it would cool down quicker.
“It’s called a hot toddy. A sweet Scottish granny told me how to make them when I was looking at the cold medicine in the pharmacy. She was quite insistent that it was the only thing that would help,” Remus nodded along and took a sip. It was delicious. Sweet and spicy and warmed him to his toes. He downed it quickly and snuggled into the bed, his eyes growing droopy as he drifted off to sleep.
When he woke up, Sirius was gone, and he felt better than he had in days. Now, he wasn’t saying that Sirius’s concoction had worked, but it certainly hadn’t done any harm.

i like to imagine that Sirius offers to let Remus hold his hand if it hurts in the hospital wing while Pomfrey heals him and Remus who has an incredibly high pain tolerance from all his bones breaking themselves every full moon is totally fine but milking it so hard just to hold Sirius’ hand and Pomfrey is so very aware of Remus’ massive crush on Sirius that she doesn’t kick him out as much as James and Peter

Minnie: Black and Potter did what?
Madam Pomfrey: Well, I told them that they couldn't see Mr Lupin because he was still recovering from last night, and the only way they could see him is if they were injured.
Minnie: And?
Madam Pomfrey: So they punched each other in the face and told me they were injured.
Minnie:
Madam Pomfrey:
Dumbledore: Well, I must admire their dedication.

McGonagall and Pomfrey raising little Remus Lupin after he was bitten
Remus growing up in Hogwarts and knowing it like the palm of his hands (knowledge he avidly uses with the marauders, much to his mom's disapproval)
Remus becoming Poppy's little helper as soon as he can tell the difference between ingredients
Remus admiring Minerva so much that he keeps accidentally changing random objects (he wants to be just as cool as his Ma!)
Remus who is so so loved by his mom's and magic that every once in a while a moving staircase will slow down for him so he makes it to class on time, or dinner would be exactly what he was craving, and his desk would be suspiciously not-that-hard when he's falling asleep after a bad full moon
Recently enrolled in Hogwarts, Remus accidentally calls Minerva Professor Mom and goes all the shades of red possible.
Poppy fixing Remus' tie and hair outside the great hall because he overslept and Oh, isn't he as tall as her already?! she just HAS to give him a little forehead kiss!

i could talk about remus lupin forever so heres a rant/character study as writer..
Remus Lupin got bitten at the age of 4, before this him and his parents were an average family. nothing too exciting, nothing too romantic, one of those families you know settled and not in the good kinda way, but it is his family. he is an only child, hope wanted more children maybe to fill a void she was trying to cover up, but when Remus got bitten obviously that shook her wants. Lyall felt shame, he couldn’t depict exactly if it was shame for his son or for himself, he already kept the fact that he was a werewolf a secret and the fact that the guy who turned him now turned his almost 5 year old son. So a few months later he killed himself, leaving Hope alone with Remus, she tried to take care of her little boy, but it was always the bare minimum because she was just a muggle, Lyall didn’t really teach her about magic and she was scared. So she did what was best at 6 years old she gave Remus to Mcgonagall who in turn didn’t know what to do with him either, but Madame Pomfrey wanted him, and after a few days realized she too wanted him. So he now had 2 Mom’s and his Mother promised to write, but didn’t. He grew up in the magic world, with gentle, but firm parents who loved dearly. He knew nothing but love even though he wondered what happened to his Mother. At 11 he met James Potter, the overly outgoing kind boy that loved making friends and took in Remus. He didn’t know what to think, but like an extrovert adopting an introvert it just happened, which is where he meets Sirius Black. Who didn’t know what to think of him at first because of his somewhat shyness, and also being taller than him. But once Remus pointed out David Bowie in his muggle music they were just fine.
He showed the boys his favorite things magic mixed with muggle, Mcgonagall not letting him forget about the muggle world. Chocolate, his favorite music, posters in his room, he showed James muggle movies he’s never seen.
Until Remus realized he had feelings for who he considered his best friend even though he knew he wasn’t Sirius’s best friend. The slight touches while passing, the sitting a little too close while studying, the way Sirius would sneak into his bed so Remus could read to him and, James and Peter would find them slumped (again). James pretended like he didn’t know, but come on his parents are the most precious love story how could he not?
When the boys found out he was a werewolf they didn’t turn him away or even get scared like he remember’s Hope’s eyes being. If anything they were excited… and without him knowing learned the animagus spell turning themselves into animals to keep their remus safe. Sirius a black wolf, James a stag, and Peter a hamster. So even when he was his monstrous self he still had a home. but little did he know the cat he saw every once in a while was Mcgonagall to make sure her boy was safe. And no even though the spell was illegal she kept it a secret for the inseparable boys because Remus felt safety and that’s all she wanted for him. Remus always had a home.
