it was such a sudden decision but - with some research and reading, they would eventually find their way around it. how could they not with the way that the kid stared at them with such big, hopeful eyes?

first and foremost, rishen was adamant on learning about the kid’s powerset. he ran a few tests ( nothing extreme, all were normal ) so that he could fully understand how their powers worked. once that was through and after further study, he would work towards helping the child through this. teaching them what he could and having jìngyí join in too.

jìngyí went straight to health. do they have any allergies? conditions? anything that they should know? he made sure to run numerous tests and checkups, getting all of it on file and working around it.

they are both very busy people and while they cannot look after the kid all of the time - especially when they are at work, they tried to make a plan. whether it is through ai assistants or their most trusted of employees to take off from valence and instead take care of the kids. . .

they are very protective. they’ve been through a lot, and while they are raising a successor, they will not hurt the kid in any way. they can’t bring themselves to do that. instead they will slowly teach the kid all that they can about science. starting small like videos and cartoons to eventually books and studies, so forth. they’d make sure to make it entertaining and fun.

the kid got only the best education and when they grow up, naturally, they would gravitate towards science. they were particularly surprised to to discover that it was mechanics that their child took a liking to. of course they indulged it. their child would come to work in valence eventually, where they would learn more.

now they also knew that they had to . . . slowly, make the child understand their point of view. from an age where they knew they could understand they would begin slowly teaching them. nothing extreme but - once the kid grew - it wouldn’t take long for them to fall into the husband’s ideals.

everything sort of played out for itself after that. their child ‘accidentally’ finding out what they are doing. what they are and. . . understanding that it is for the best.

they’re great parents. even if they’re fucked up. even if they’ve raised their child to see things the way that they do. . . although others would deem it up for debate.

Misunderstandings really really suck Pt.2

Damian had a Rival.

Scratch that, Damian had a Nemesis in the form of a girl in his class by the name of Danielle Nightingale. Although she insisted she be called "Ellie" instead.

The trouble started on the first day of classes. Damain had just arrived at the Manor recently, and unfortunately his father had decided that he needed to go to School in order to keep up a Civilian charade. So, he had been sent to Gotham Metro Academy, a rather prestigious school that he could not give less of a fuck about. Why would he willingly subject himself to the borderline preschool teachings of a Civilian school when the League had taught him everything he needed to know years ago? Of course, that was his attitude before he met her.

Danielle was in the seat right next to him for most of his classes, and at first they had not interacted all that much. She had attempted a friendly greeting at first, but Damian had quickly shut her down in a rather rude way.

It wasn't until the next time they took a Science Test together that they really regarded one another. It was supposed to be a test to see where their education level was, but Damian had decided he would Ace the test and move onto some more interesting stuff.

He finished his test within a few minutes and got up to turn it in, at the same time Danielle did. He looked over at her and saw that she was just as surprised to see him getting up. Later on, they learned that they were the top 2 scorers in the class by a wide margin. Danielle had gotten a 100%, while Damian had gotten a 99%. She gave him a smug Smirk, and that was when he decided that he would best her no matter the cost.

From there they made every class a contest. Always on opposite sides for PE, always competing for the best scores on Tests, they even made getting to the cafeteria a race.

Damain found that he genuinely enjoyed competing with her, since she was the only one who could keep up. And they could never decide on a good winner. Danielle always beat him in Science Classes, but Damian was the better in the Math Classes, and somehow they always tied in PE no matter the sport they played.

And after a while, they began to talk with eachother about stuff aside from their little contests. He learned that she was going to the school on a Scholarship, which was why she always tried her best to excel in exams. He learned that her older brother owned a small Shop a few blocks from Park Row, which he used to provide for the both of them to live comfortably. He also learned that he enjoyed his conversations with her as much as he enjoyed competing with her, it was genuinely fun to just sit down and talk to her once in a while.

He finally decided that they had grown from Rivalry to full on Friendship about halfway through their first year of school together. He had found her backed into a corner by some snobby rich kids who didn't like that a "street rat" was getting better grades than them so often. To her credit, she was holding back her emotions much better than he would have.

When he tried to help her, they turned on him. They began mocking his status as a bastard child, calling his mother many horrible names, and even began to make racist remarks about his Arabic heritage. He didn't even get the chance to retort before one of the kids was on his back clutching his broken nose, Ellie standing next to him with her arm extended. The other one soon followed, this time by Damian's hand.

Of course the incident got them both detention, but from then on he knew she was his friend.

Damian began noticing something was off about Ellie about 1 year after meeting her. Her 12th birthday had just passed, and the new school year was just beginning, and for some reason she was much competitive than usual. She didn't seem to think he had noticed, but she hadn't tried this hard to beat him since they had first met. She wasn't talking to him as much, distancing her self more and more as the weeks went on.

It finally came to ahead during a game of Dodgeball in their PE class. She had been competing with him relentlessly, but even then she wasn't preforming up to her usual level. He could see she was tired, exhausted even, from such a simple exercise, sweat pouring from her skin in buckets. Which didn't make any sense, since he had seen her do much more intense things without breaking a sweat.

He also knew that she was a Metahuman, and therefore had more stamina than a normal person. (She had told him over the summer, after deciding that she trusted him with her biggest secret)

Before the game had even ended, he was asking her to just tell him what was wrong. She denied that anything was wrong, right up until she collapsed in the middle of the game, unconscious.

He had immediately rushed her to the Nurses Office, where she finally opened up about what had been disturbing her so much recently.

She was dying.

She had a genetic disease, linked back to her Meta-Human abilities, that was slowly killing her. And they were running out of the medication needed to treat it.

She took out what looked like an Epi-Pen and injected herself with the medication inside. Damain could instantly see the color come back to her skin, her muscles got less tense, and her breath became more steady.

"That was one of our remaining Doses", she explained, "This dose will last me about a month. We have enough left to last until December, but after that there won't be anymore left. It was only ever produced by a single pair of scientists out of state, and they died in a car accident a few years ago."

Damian is extremely worried, his best friend is dying and he doesn't know how to help. He tried to offer his dad's help, but she refuses.

"I'm a Metahuman, if a person as high profile as your dad stepped in to help, it would draw attention to me. And Gotham is way to dangerous for a known Metahuman to live, especially a 12 yr old one." She says, "And besides, my brother says he's working on replicating it. I trust him, and he's been researching it relentlessly."

It takes a while, but Damian agrees to let her take care of this.

Over the next few months, Damian and Ellie act as if everything is normal. From time to time they will talk about it, but they largely try to ignore it for the most part.

Sometimes Ellie will joke about it though.

"At my Funeral, make sure they don't lie. I was a fucking Goddess of Chaos and I won't have them defiling my name by spouting out that whole 'heaven has another angel' bullcrap."

"In my Will, I'm gonna set up a whole Indiana Jones Style Quest for you to follow before you can claim anything of mine. You gotta work for it."

"Don't worry, I won't haunt you after I die. I'll be too busy conquering the Afterlife to manage anything like that!"

"At my Funeral, I want you to make a speech that's just 'this is so sad. Alexa play despacito'. Nothing else, just that."

It goes on like this for months, and both of them have mostly accepted that their time together has a potential time limit, so they try to make the most out of it.

Damian even forces her to formally introduce her brother, an older guy named Danny, who is very enthusiastic to meet him. Apparently Ellie had trouble making friends in her last school, and he was just so happy she had found such a good friend in the last year.

They even invited him to visit whenever he wanted. Sometimes he would even stay the night, sleeping in Danny's room while Danny took the couch.

He even found the Lab, or makeshift lab, that Danny had made to try and find a way to replicate the Medicine for Ellie. Damian had to admit, Danny was a certified Genius, and he had Hope that Danny would find a way to save Ellie soon.

He asks for an explanation on the Medicine, and Danny explains it as "Ellie's powers draw on a type energy called Ecto, which helps keep her body stable. Unfortunately, she has a birth defect that means she can't absorb it faster than she uses it up naturally. What the Medicine does is bolster the amount she already has in her system to make it more potent and last longer."

He even shows Damian his notes, and at his insisting he begins teaching Damian about Ectoplasm and the science behind it all.

Damian begins coming over on the weekends to hang out with Ellie and check up on the progress of the Medicine. He tells the rest of his family that he just wants to get a little more comfortable in his Civilian Life, and is indulging in his urge to actually be a kid. (They still don't know about Ellie's situation, cause she asked him not to tell anyone.)

A few months later, Jason comes back from patrol and informs the rest of the team that he just found a Scienist creating a Super Soldier Serum in the middle of Gotham.

Unfortunately, Damian was staying over at Ellie's house for the weekend, and didn't get the memo.

Danny reveals phantom to his parents. They immediately jump ships to support Danny. That is their baby. Why would they think he was lying? Clearly they let confirmation bias cloud their heads. They have non bias research to conduct!

Unfortunately for them. The GIW does not like this change. Clearly the fentons have gone crazy. They must be mad scientist! The GIW of course reports them mainly to get them out of the way. Can’t have people spreading propaganda that ghost Ms are sentient. They can’t have that.

Maddie and Jack don’t come in easily. Instead they flee. Not letting thier kids get hurt. Of course they locked down the portal before they left. All they needed to do was get set up in a new city. Keep the kids safe after all.

Gotham was to obvious. Why wouldn’t they flee to ecto rich environment. Danny would be to obsessed with hunting down Superman in metropolis. Ever since the reveal Danny had been letting his ghostly instincts out more and more. The whole alien thing would cause to much obsession.

Besides. Technically they were wanted by the government. Couldn’t draw attention with Danny stalking the supers. Which whatever. Maddie and Jack would fight them if it came down to it.

They ultimately decided on central city.

There is enough that happens there to keep eyes off them. They absolutely totally could stay low to the ground. They couldn’t hide out with any relatives. Plus if it came to it. They were certain they could at least talk to the flash before anything violent occurred.

Maybe he would even listen.

For now. They would just prioritize Danny’s and jazzs safety.

Some silly thoughts that I randomly got while my eyes are growing heavy....

Bruce had not (or probably forgot to) announce that he had a new kid, which is Danny Fenton so now, Danny has three secret identities.

Also, Bruce doesn't know about Fenton being Phantom.

And also, Danny got adopted solely because right after he fought Skulker and Desiree, he ended up being in Gotham. With his powers being short circuited a few times during the fight, he looked like a homeless beggar, beaten up and everything in his human form. Even at the end of the battle, his powers had not let up just yet, fortunately he was able to soup both of the ghosts with his thermos.

So while walking down the streets, it was night time, some thug came and tried to mug the boy only to be rescued by Batman since he was on patrol.

And Danny being Danny, lies elegantly. Now, Batman and his best friend Paranoia, advised and guided Danny to a manor and there, history begins.

All because Danny lied about having no parents when in truth, Maddie and Jack were all waiting for him to come back for dinner. (they knew of his ghostly powers)

Danny doesn't know Bruce being Batman, and Batman doesn't know Danny being Phantom.

Danny kept persuading Bruce to let him go to Amity Park since he always wanted to stay there (also cuz he can't stay out of his Haunt for too long) and Bruce let's him.... Without forgetting to give him allowance.

Sooner or later, Danny gets a call from Bruce, the man usually calls or Danny calling him cuz their family now and all that and they would talk casually and stuff cuz for some reason, Bruce can't get past a firewall that's protecting Amity Park and all of its residents are there getting their online acc being protected as well.

And Danny expected Bruce to ask him how it was going on his side but then was taken aback cuz the man invited him to the manor for a family night.

With much consideration, Danny agreed. Only to be surprised that Danny wasn't the only kid cuz there are other look-alikes sprawling around the manor.

So the guilt he has inside his heart dissipated cuz a part of the reason why he signed the adoption papers was that he thought Bruce was a lonely man and he had a different vibe than Vlad and on the plus side, he could show off the adoption papers at Vlad.

The Batkids stared at the new kid, glaring at Bruce as to who is he while the man himself was confused as well, did he not tell them? He thought. And no, no he did not.

Evan Rosier didn't get abused during his childhood. His parents didnt hit him, or scream at him, its the opposite. Their parents didnt give them attention at all. Sure, they gave the twins money when they asked, but they were often on holidays for weeks and left the twins alone to take care of themselves. Even when they weren't on holidays they only were home for a few hours a day. They often spend the night at parties or friends' houses. This led to Evan and Pandora being each others only social contact which made them isolate themselves from people their age, yet gave them strong abandonment issues. If they let someone in their little bubble, they weren't allowed to leave, they would hunt them down and cut their throat, leave them in the freezer. It wasn't even a romantic thing, this was just their natural reaction to it. Also, they've got nothing to lose. Rich kids, they could pay themselves out of everything and their parents didnt care what they did, even if they were serial killers.

Danny's parents were very mean they left him alone all the time and are always down in the lab

Danny spend most of the time with the animals they had some that would disappear into the lab and never come back While others would come back up but different they were a little bit more scary than before but he still love them because they were his friend and family all the animals that had come back had some kind of collar on he had one to. Sometimes Danny would go down in the lab and they would do something it would always hurt but he always was able to come back up and spend time with his friends and family some times instead of the lab the orange and blue humans will take them into a bigger cage and make them do things if they don't do what the humans want they get shocked

Danny has mix black and white hair one eye was glowing toxic green the other a vibrant blue he had Claws the tip of his hands feet and ear are a pretty blue his skin has some patches of blue in the Center of his chest is green lightning that spreads out he has sharp teeth his ears are pointy he has freckles that changes depending on what stars are in the sky that night he can go invisible but and a collar that he could not make dissappear he was vary fast and fought good he can also mimic the animal sounds and once in a while human sounds they don't like when he mimics their sounds

when Danny was eight humans in white came in and went to talking to the humans in Orange and blue he could not understand what they were saying so he went back to played with mama ( mama was a wolf dog and the oldest animal that was there she had dirty orange fur and turquoise eyes she has been with him as long as he can remember she says her name is jazz she named him danny ) orange and blue came in with the other humans in white and started showing the humans in white the animals and started to pick them up and looking at them mama started to growl and hiss at them they did not like that they kicked mama away from him and graped her danny jumped up and was able to bite one of the humans in White the orange and blue grabbed him and put a muzzle on so he could no longer bite ( he hates the mullzzel it was allways so hard to eat with it on ) the people in white grabbed him to look at they poke and prodded at him and he did not like it at all he was able to scratch one of them he got punished for it ( he really hates electricity ) he was finally put back with mama they left the room mama started to comfort him and tell him how brave he was next thing he knew more people in white came in and started grabbing animals and sticking them with something one of them came up and grabbed him and mama to sticked them he stared to get realy sleepy it started to fade to Black

When he woke up he had felt mama with him he was still vary sleepy he got up and looked around he was in a cage they were in a dark room that was moving ( he knew this is not the lab the lab smells vary different than this ) he saw some of the other animals that are also in cages he touch the cage to try and lift him self up to see more the room but got shock he started to whine Mama woke up and tried to comfort him Danny doesn't know how long they sat there but the room finally stopped moving people in strange suits opened a wall and started moving the cages and other boxs out they moved them into a bigger room and they put blankets over them he is very scared he hid underneath mama as the humans came up and brought them into the room and through a blanket over them mama told him to rest that she would protect him he closed his eyes and whent back to sleep

He woke up to Sounds going on outside mama was up and seems to be look at something he tried to look as well but could not see through the blanket all sudden there were loud pops and yelling mama pushed him back underneath of her and try to shield him he was shaking so much he is so scared and then everything started to go quiet he waited a bit before he shuffling out from underneath mama he tried to reach his hand through to see if he can lift up the blanket to see what was going on but the blank was pull off he squeaks standing above them was what looked like a giant bat and was staring at them they stared back until danny heard some thing the big bat lifted up his hand to his head and said something they couldn't understand suddenly he feels a prick on his neck mama growls and hisses at something beside them but he was too sleepy he held on to Mama before it went to Black again.

As long as I've been a fandom-goer, I never fully understood what drove certain fans to create large AUs "fixing" the parts of canon they didn't agree with. Typically I'm pretty chill with canon, even if it's flawed.

Then I watched D-Stabilized.

What if a child — a young orphan, coming from the dark slums of their society (so probably an enigma) — one day happens to come across the Herrera husbands and decides to stick with them, popping up every now and then even if they're sent away. They can see how nice the husbands are to them, so in their child mind: these guys = safe = stay with them. And considering their past, they wouldn't mind the gruesome experiments going on in the background.

an enigma kid sneaks into the hearts of the most renowned businessmen, a mad doctor and mad scientist, of elritea. they have to decide what the fate of the kid will be

they hadn’t known that the kid was an enigma at first. they had simply been following the husbands around for some time and kept coming back around the entrance of valence.

it’s rishen that would grow concerned first. crouching down to the little one with a soft. “hi sweetie - where are your parents? can I take you to them?”

but the sake of the kid’s head would leave his brows furrowing. jìngyí would coincidentally find his way out for a smoke break when he saw the child who’s been coming around more times than he can count - and his wife seated along one of the fountains. the kid excitedly explaining something loosely to rishen who only smiles and nods along. showing just as much excitement to listen and talk.

they would take the child home that day. it took next to no convincing from jìngyí. they’d welcome the kid home. get them all fed and cleaned. rishen made a quick order of clothes so that the child would be comfortable. and once they were asleep - the husbands would talk about the plan moving forward.

and then they discovered it.

the kid’s an enigma.

they have a code. no experiments done to children. but that still didn’t mean the child was safe - what happens when they grow older? the husbands know that their urges and motives are not something that can be changed.

they couldn’t just let the kid go off on their own. they didn’t have anyone. rishen refused when jìngyí mentioned putting them into an orphanage - what would they do when they find out they’re an enigma?

what do they do? make an exception?

they’re not sure. they’re conflicted. but when the kid wakes up the next morning and excitedly runs over to hug onto their legs while they’re having their morning coffee. . . the husband’s hearts melted.

so they’ll keep the kid. at least try to. hope that the resistance might take the kid away during their next raid and save them from the ticking clock — but at the same time they’d grow so accustomed to the kid. so loving on them. they can’t —

but what if. . . they made them one of their own? made them understand why they did what they did when they grow order?

follow in their footsteps. . . protect them in the process. and have someone to continue their legacy. it’s a win-win.

I'm so fascinated by parenthood and narratives about it!!! I know a lot of people long for stories and representation of people who don't want kids, which is of course important and necessary, and it is frustrating when in fiction stories end with "babies ever after" for no reason, but I personally loooove exploring the emotions and experiences that come with parenthood. doesn't happen how the kids come to be, if they're biological or adopted or found family and someone unintentionally becomes a parental figure. it is about generations and longevity. seeing yourself or your partner in your child. protection. complexity of emotions and experiences. finding yourself of capable of things you didn't know you were capable of for your child. being willing to do anything. feeling like you haven't done enough despite all the things you've done. the unconditional love

Jack and Maddie are legit crazy mad scientist.

They moved to amity before jazz was born. Prior to the justice league. Those who didn’t comply when the moved were swiftly taken care of.

All outside new sources come from them amity has only seen what the fentons want.

The Giw were hired by the Fentons. Both are bad. But who would the town rather deal with the shoot first supposed government. Or the wacky Fenton parents.

And how many parents can exactly actively stake out a school. How many times had they been inside the school during the school day.

That is until mr lancer comes into play. Somehow he managed to slip by and entered the town this year. Earning a position of vice principal right under their noses.

He actively promotes Danny doing better. Actually forcing him to do his work and learn.

He takes notes of Danny’s declining health. Falling asleep in class, the bruises and reports the fentons. Only for nothing to happen.

Lancer then takes notes of the eccentric actions of the fentons. The screaming of tearing the ghosts apart. He knows about the truth of the outside world. He knows this would go against the meta human protection acts. So he makes a mental note to contact the proper services of the need arises.

After the events of the town being yoinked into the infinite realms. He finally acts. Sending out an email and call to the justice league hotline. Unbeknownst to him both being stopped by the Fenton parents.

Obviously they plan to deal with him when the time is right.

The only reason he stays is because no other adult seems to care about the kids. He was the only one who event attempted to check in on them during the ghost flu.

He can’t stand by any longer when he sees the two Fenton parents hunting phantom. See them getting skilled shots in. Actively forcing phantom into Danny. But they don’t stop. Still shooting at Danny.

Mr. Lancer watches as Jazz, Sam and Tucker manage to get them away. He ushers them to his car the five hardly manages to make it out. Danny seriously injured.

It’s only then does the phone connect to the justice league helpline.

regards his mehrak as his child , thus seeing him alternate between threatening some abyssal grunt strapped to the vivisection table and praising mehrak for how they've improved at drawing in the same breath can be quite a common sight.
