HEY EMO BOY - Bill K.
In which you dedicate your performance to your celebrity crush, but he doesn’t know until the press gets ahold of it.
Bill Kaulitz x fem!reader
AUTHORS NOTE: this idea may be floating somewhere on somebody else’s blog but this I just came up myself so I’m not trying to copy nobody! I also had to change some of the lyrics for the sake of the story! Thx bbyg’s <33
Pt 2!
YOU LET OUT A HEAVY BREATH, finishing up the song, you reached down for the bottle of water by your feet, chugging the last of it. The concert has reached it’s final song, and you’ve got an idea that you’ve been planning for weeks. The crowd is still booming with shrieks, practically making the whole place rumbled. A grin appeared on your lips as you walked over to the microphone.
“Can you guys keep a secret?” You questioned as the crowd yelled in return, you giggled and a felt an overwhelming feeling of joy fill your body. “Well, I have a huge crush on this guy who totally doesn’t know I exist.” A string of boos followed after. “You guys may know him, he’s German, he’s the lead singer of a band, I believe he has a twin brother.” Within moments the crowd began to screamed, realizing who it was, there weren’t many German lead singers who have a twin brother, well..not that you knew of. You had a proud smirk on you face, bitting your lip to contain more nervous giggles from slipping out. “I think he suuper hot, so I decided to make a song about him, you guys ready?”
“Yeah!” At the sound of their approval the song immediately began to sound through the massive speakers scattered through the stage. You gripped the bedazzled microphone in your neatly manicured hands, the lights flickered with pretty pink colors, radiating your signature color as it reflected off your diamond studded belt. You couldn’t contain the large smile as you lifted the mic to your mouth.
“Saw this boy at the mall last week, got the kinda look to me me freak!” You skipped around the stage, your denim mini shorts riding farther up your thighs then it already was. “That long ass hair with the tightest jeans, my chemical romance on his tee.” You ran a smooth hand down your body, exaggerating your attraction towards him. “He looked so sick like he was dying, if I said he wasn’t hot then I’d be lying. Please, handsome, don’t be coy. Come on fuck me emo boy!”
The repetition of the lyrics echoed throughout the large stadium, it was actually hilarious how such a large crowd of people jumped and shouted come on fuck me emo boy, over and over again. You giggled, raising the microphone back to your lips, “This boy just unlike the rest, one look and I bitch I loose my breath. Wanna fuck in the back of the hot topic? Lift me up and then I drop it. He’s with his band, goin on tour. Should I go? Well, bitch, for sure!” Your favorite was coming up, it was a little explicit but what would be the fun if it wasn’t? “He might not look he gets bitches but honey that dick is eleven inches.”
With your pearly teeth out, your lips stretched into large smile you bounced around the stage, hearing the the beat blast into your ear drum. A collection of things were thrown onto the stage, it was a common reoccurrence during all your concerts. People would launched flowers, letters, bras, sunglasses, and far to many things that just piled up on the floor until you finished your set list and had all the gifts delivered to your dressing room. You admired your fans, the way their wristbands glowed in the dark night, the creative posters that were raised above their heads, it was hard to grasp onto it sometimes but the feeling never failed to make you proud.
“Hey, hey, hey emo boy!” The song had concluded, though the fans were far from quiet, you gave them a polite bow as the crew behind you began to pack up all the instruments. You were stuck in your spot, waving to all the giddy people who nearly broke down the barricade in excitement. “Thank you! Hugs and kisses to all of you who made it here tonight, I love you guys!” Your feet began to move towards the backstage, a part of you absolutely devastated that the show ended, but also relieved to get some rest. Although, before you could fully leave you jogged back over to the microphone. “And make sure to keep the song a secret from the emo hottie.” With that, you walked towards your assistant, Teresa, who held a bottle of water ready for you.
“You looked amazing, baby!” The dark haired girl giggled as you took the cool liquid and let it run down your sore throat.
“Thank you, I felt amazing!” You smiled, “Was the song good? It wasn’t too much, was it?”
“Absolutely not, the song was great, and I’m proud that you finally got around to preforming it.” Your assistant grinned, “It’ll definitely get his attention.”
“Yeah, well, that’s the goal.” You mumbled, looking over at your dressing room, ready to go in and remove all the makeup and heavy accessories you had on till you noticed that your name tag was gone from the front door. “Hey, what happened to my name tag?”
Teresa looked over, “Oh, they’re replacing it because Tokio Hotel is preforming here tomorrow.”
“What!” You nearly chocked on your water, eyes practically bulging out of your face as you stared back at your assistant. “Why didn’t you tell me that they were literally preforming here the day after me?”
“To be fair I didn’t know until they started moving stuff around.” Right as the words left her mouth a random man came over and slipped in a paper to the plastic cover on the front door. It wasn’t a mistake, the bold letter stated back at you: TOKIO HOTEL
“Well, I’m most definitely fucked.”
“BILL!” TOM PRACTICALLY ran across the tour bus, holding his baggy pants up in one hand while the other held a laptop. His twin sat on the couch, munching on a pack of sour candy. “Bill, you have to look at this!”
Bill stared at his brother with furrowed brows, wondering what has gotten him so giddy and grinning like a child. That was until the laptop was shoved in his face, some random article pulled up with some dramatized title that he didn’t even want to read. “What is this?”
“Read it!”
POP STAR, Y/N L/N WRITES EXPLICIT SONG TO GERMAN LEAD SINGER, BILL KAULITZ; COULD THIS BE THE START OF A NEW ROMANCE?
Bill’s fingers slid on the mouse pad, scrolling the through the article as his eyes quickly scanned the words in front of him. “This surely isn’t about me, Tom, it’s just fake news that they’re trying to shove down people’s throats.”
“Don’t be stupid, Bill, the y/n l/n is crushing on you and dropping subtle hints, hence, the song about wanting to fuck you.” Tom shook his brothers shoulders proudly, his grin wide.
A hue of red spread on Bill’s pale skin, clicking on the attached video that gave him the whole performance. Sure enough, there you were, singing a song about wanting to fuck an emo boy. “I don’t know, Tom.”
The oldest twin let out a groan, “Bill, she wants you, think about it. She’s our age and she says that the song is dedicate to a German lead singer who is touring with his band.” He had a good point, and that’s what made Bill smile a bit, it made a puff of pride filled his chest. “That’s what I’m talking about.” Tom laughed, “She wants you, Bill, and I wouldn’t want to pass up on that.”
“Enough.” Bill sheepishly smiled, closing the laptop and shoving into Tom’s chest, curling up on the couch as he felt a wave of heat wash over him. If the song was about him, and you meant what you said, then it really turned him on. He couldn’t help it, his already tight skinny jeans grew tighter.
“BILL, WHAT ARE YOURE opinions on y/n l/n new song about?”
“Bill is it true that you are y/n’s baby daddy?”
“Bill look over here!”
“Are you and y/n a couple?”
A flood of questions and bright, flashing lights came his way as he made his way towards the doors of the venue. He stuffed his hands in his pockets, attempting to move past the paparazzi and avoid there strange questions. His band mates followed behind him, struggling to keep up with him due to the crowding. He finally let out a breath of relief as he made his way inside. The flashing cameras replaced with colorful lights and the screaming substituted with the shaky bass of the music booming from the dance floor. Tom had already separated himself from the group, going off to the bar to try and find a new girl to bring to his hotel. Georg had dropped out, opting on talking with his girlfriend through phone all night instead. Gustav had also followed Tom to the bar, craving alcohol in his system.
The crowd of people were familiar, he had seen some of them at the event from before, there were many famous faces. Yet he stood by a wall, eyes looking around awkwardly, despite the many times he’d been to these events he always had to ease his way in throughout the night. After a few drinks he’d start getting loose, but for the moment he’d just scan the dance floor till he caught someone he knew.
That’s when he gaze was in trapped by a spark, a beautiful glow that confidently bounced on the dance floor, happily dancing. It was you, you were dancing with your friend, a half drunken drink in your hand while your swing your hips and shimmy you chest with a surge of confidence. The short dress having to constantly be tugged down your plush thighs, as you giggled, you felt something. A sense of being watched, but there was hundreds of people around, and a lot of them liked to stare.
You leaned into your friends ear, excusing yourself to the bathroom, you heels carried you to through the crowds of drunk people and to a small opening where you could go to the bathroom. Bill’s eyes watched your every move, were you coming towards him or was he fucking crazy? He nervously stared at you, your features became more clear, it was you. Y/n l/n. You were getting closer, he felt his breath hitch, what was he going to say? Well, he didn’t have to worry since you walked right past him, eyes not sparing him a glance as you rushed into a hallway. He furrowed his brows, staring as your figure disappeared, it was then that he noticed many people exiting and passing to enter the same hallway you just entered. He glanced up and saw the clear sight that read. RESTROOM.
He huffed, crossing his arms with a frown, maybe it was a sigh that he should talk to her but now it he had to wait till you walked back out. Finally, you left the restroom, shoving the lipgloss back into your bra and strutting out. You were excited to go back to dancing, a big smile on you lip, that was until a large hand wrapped itself around your wrist, tugging you back before you could go any farther. You looked back with furrowed brows, you had to crane you eyes up to look at who was the man behind the touch. You mouth went dry, eyes widening, your knees nearly giving out and dropping you on the dirty floor of the venue.
It was Bill fucking Kaulitz, the emo boy you made a whole song about. The song in which was leaked and slapped on every article with your name in the title. You were so happy that the lighting covered the blush that warmed your face. He leaned down, lips brushing you ear, hand still wrapped on on your wrist.
“Hey, I’m Bill.” His hot breath fanned against the shell of your ear, he could smell the faint scent of your perfume, it was intoxicating. “I like your music.” He pulled away, a smug smirk on his face as you swallowed the lump in your throat. His accent was much more hotter in person then it was in the interviews you watched on TV.
“T-Thank you.” You replied, but he simply gave you a confused look. You sighed, attempting to reach his ear, “I said thank you, I like your music as well.”
He nodded, “Thank you, it seems as though one of your songs has gotten quite popular, people have told me all about it.”
You needed to pull yourself together, this was a moment you’ve been waiting for and you couldn’t back down. So you rubbed your lips together, spreading the shiny, sticky gloss. You gazed up at him through your lashes, a flirty smile on your face. “Yeah, I was hoping you’d say.”
“Yeah?” He raised a pierced brow, “Why’s that?”
“You’re the only one I wrote the song for, of course.” You giggled, watching his expression change, he was surprised on how upfront you were about it. You were proud, cocky almost, it turned him on. “So, did you like it?” He nodded in response. “You wouldn’t mind doing what the lyrics say, do you?”
“No.” He replied, watching your smile widen. “I can take you back to my hotel and do exactly what you want me to do, schatz.”
You were getting giddy, you running a hand up his arms, staring up at his smoky eyes with lust. You bit your bottom lip, “Can you kiss me?” A small smirk played on his lips as he leaned down, leaving a slow kiss on your lips. Your hands were on his cheek, leaning up and desperately kissing his lips. His hands wandered, feeling you up in the tight pink dress you were in. Though his same hands seemed to favor a spot in particular, you ass, they ran up and down your sides before they eventually planted themselves there. His head was titled to the side, neck curved down to reach your height and to continue kissing your additive lips. He pulled away, lips sticky with you gloss before he trailed it down to your jaw and neck, his cheeky hands squeezed the flesh. You gasp, allowing him to suck lightly while the music blasted in your ears but it was all tuned out as you focused on the sensation of his tacky lips kissing your skin.
You were most definitely gonna fuck this emo boy tonight.
Y’ALL WANT A PART TWO W SMUT? Either way I’ll probably write one bc this game out better then I expected🤭🤭🤭

top 10 songs of all time?
Changes everyday, but in no particular order some of my more consistent favorites are:
The front bottoms - Twin Sized Mattress
Car Seat headrest - Kimochi Warui *so many options here, but to pick one from this band...*
Tool - Lateralus
The Mountain Goats - Best Ever Death Metal Band Out of Denton
Phoebe Bridgers - I Know the End
Elliott Smith - King's Crossing
AJJ - People II The Reckoning
At this point I started to think harder about the songs that have meant the most to me throughout my life and as I've gotten older. For example, I like a lot of Bright Eyes songs more than First day, but that song has had way more impact on me. I play it all the time, the lyrics are permanently imprinted in my mind, and to me it's one of the most beautiful and vulnerable love songs ever written. With that in mind more and more "important" songs started coming to mind.
8. Alex G - Forever 9. Bright Eyes - First Day of My Life 10. Johnny Hobo - New Mexico Song
Now I have ten, that was easy.
Except...
I remembered that one Demarco song that makes me cry everytime I hear it. Got to include that. How many times have I listened to the Glow pt 2 during the summer? How could I leave off something from Porcupine Tree, the band that I once considered my favorite band of all time? So I kept going, through names and bands that I collect like emotional trophies, not wanting to leave anything out. They all mean so much, it's honestly pathetic. I used to hyperfixate on things like Zelda and Star Wars, then I found this shit and my brain chemistry has been altered ever since.
11. Mac Demarco - Moonlight on the River 12. Mitski - Texas Reznikoff 13. The Microphones - I Want the Wind to Blow 14. Pigeon Pit - Nights like These 15. Radiohead - Exit Music 16. The Crane Wives - Never Love an Anchor
Funny how quickly a song can feel like home. That Crane Wives song technically shouldn't even be here, I only heard it for the first time a few weeks ago. Yet maybe listening to it 30 times since qualifies it for consideration. Phoebe Bridgers has a lyric in one of her songs about wishing she had written something instead of the original artist, but she can't cause they said it first. So instead she'll learn their song and sing until the feverish inspired feeling fades away in a voyeuristic catharsis.
I think about that line constantly. Also quickly want to mention here that I'm more of an album guy. I try to listen to full records to try an experience the full piece of art the creator made. So while no song off The Downward Spiral is on my list of favorite songs, that was and is one of the most impactful albums to me as a teenager.
17. Porcupine Tree - Arriving Somewhere but not Here 18. XTC - Dear God 19. Wilco _ I am trying to break your heart 20. NIN - Burn 21. Lucy Dacus - Night Shift 22. Haley Heynderickx - Oom Sha La La 23. Swans - New Mind
Swans was hard, because there were a few songs that meant a lot to me. But ultimately there wasn't one more visceral or frankly more evil sounding than New Mind. Love the themes, love the singing style, love the backing yells, love the industrial outro, love the faint organ, love everything about that damn song.
The list kept getting longer, and for each song I was writing a paragraph to explain my choice lol. After the first like 15 I decided to stop doing that for the sake of your eyes and for risk of sounding redundant. But a major thing I love about some of these songs are how inspirational they are. Twin Sized Mattress, Denton Metal Band, Story of an Artist, they all paint a picture of the type of person I want to be. The type of art I will always support. The thing I hope to one day inspire in other people.
When you punish a person for dreaming their dream don't expect them to thank or forgive you. The best ever death metal band out of Denton, will in time both outpace and outlive you.
Those words could honestly save someone's life, it's crazy.
24. A Perfect Circle - Three Libras 25. Deftones - Rosemary 26. Frank Ocean - Ivy 27. November Suite - The Tower 28. Daniel Johnston - Story of an Artist 29. Sloppy Jane - Jesus and Your Living Room Floor 30. Big Thief - Not 31. Tyler the Creator - Boredom 32. Duster - The Landing 33. The Velvet Underground - Sunday Morning 34. The Voidz - Human Sadness 35 - 108. System of a Down - (every song) 109. Death Grips - Beware
Okay, threw these and now dozens more names are crowding my brain, and this incredibly pretentious post must come to an end. Long story short, I only have one song left to share, but each of these song has a very personal connection to me. Certain ones (like that tool song) actually changed the way I look at the world and helped me through dark periods of my life.
Many of them inspire me, some of them are just beautiful in a broken and real sorta way, and all of them feel human. The art represents something bigger than itself and the ambition knows no bounds. These songs changed my world for the better, and if you read this you are now obligated to listen to all of them.
I could ramble about music till the end of time:)
finally 110. 100 Gecs - Money Machine
#indie music#we are legion#song ranking#the front bottoms#car seat headrest#the mountain goats#tool band#phoebe bridgers#elliott smith#ajjtheband#sandy alex g#bright eyes#johnny hobo and the freight trains#pat the bunny#mac demarco#mitski#sufjan stevens#didntmakethecut#sorry sufjan#better luck next year

first week of september!! fall is drawing near!!! there were some pretty cool tracks that dropped this week, two in particular that are on the shortlist for some of my favorites of the year. 2024 is drawing closer to the end, but this continues to shape up to be one of the best years for music in recent memory. In other words, NEW PHIL ELVERUM MOUNT EERIE ALBUM WOOOOOO WOOOOOOOOO YEAH YEA H YEAH YEAH!!!!!!! also feel free to follow me on rate your music and twitter <3
"Made Out of Memory" - Nilüfer Yanya
◇ released: Sept. 2, 2024 ◇ featured on My Method Actor (not yet released) ◇ genres: indietronica, alt-pop
Starting to sound like a broken record, but this new Nilüfer Yanya single is very solid. We're only a few weeks out from My Method Actor, but it's shaping up to be one of the most promising releases of the year. I love the subtlety she implements into these songs. Everything is given just the right amount of attention. The guitars on this track are buried, but crawl to the surface at the most opportune moment. Her vocals are also gorgeous, as are her melodies. Really good cut here, can't wait to dive into the full record.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"Broom of Wind" | "I Walk" - Mount Eerie
◇ released: Sept. 3, 2024 ◇ featured on Night Palace (not yet released) ◇ genres: singer-songwriter, indie folk, slacker rock, post-rock
4 years after the biographical meditation of Microphones in 2020, the highly prolific singer-songwriter Phil Elverum is returning in November with a new record under the Mount Eerie name. This announcement was accompanied by these two brilliant singles, the brief jaunty "Broom of Wind" and the weird atmospheric "I Walk." As a massive fan of Elverum's work, these songs were exactly what I could've hoped for - especially the latter. Spacey yet organic atmospheric sounds held together very loosely. Everything feels free-flowing. The traditional rules of song-structuring are construed in subtle, yet effective ways. His lyricism, as always, is just amazing. He makes you feel so much, deep in your core, even when he's crooning what seem to be abstractions.
In the press-release for this record, Night Palace is referred to as a spiritual successor to The Glow Pt. 2 - arguably Phil's magnum opus and one of the greatest records of all time - it also states that "These are songs of re-surrendering to a state of wonder and abandoning the wrung-dry skepticism that this hard world can impose." It doesn't seem like a cheap way to get fans re-invested, he has no reason to do that. If you're a fan of Elverum's music, you're most likely locked in for whatever he has coming down the pipeline. This genuinely, like his previous record, feels like treading old ground with more experience this time around in order to reinvigorate the creative process. Anyway, I'll try to save my ramblings for when I can dive into the full record, but this is firmly my new most anticipated album of the year.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"th1 [evnslower]" - Aphex Twin
◇ released: Sept. 4, 2024 ◇ featured on Selected Ambient Works Volume II Expanded Edition (not yet released) ◇ genres: dark ambient, drone, space ambient
Another track from the Aphex Twin archives has been officially released leading up to the deluxe edition of Selected Ambient Works Volume II. More savvy Richard D. James heads will probably know much more about this track than I, maybe it was leaked through a big Soundcloud dump or found in a trashcan behind his house. Whatever the case, this is pretty great. Very ominous ambient piece that sounds like it would fit on the soundtrack to a horror film set in space. It feels claustrophobic in a way, unlike the previous single "#19" which felt very peaceful and optimistic. "th1 [evnslower]" puts you on edge, makes you feel like there might be something looming just around the corner.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"Magic I Want U" | "How to Teleport" - Jane Remover
◇ released: Sept. 4, 2024 ◇ genres: glitch pop, alternative r&b, breakbeat
Jane Remover is back again with another set of seemingly standalone tracks. Like the other two tracks that dropped a little bit ago, they're a bit of a departure from her last album - which is honestly a bit refreshing. I enjoyed that record a decent amount, but there's a bite to these songs that's irresistible. The star here is "Magic I Want U" with its hard-hitting production and tight melodies that just sound absolutely exhilarating. "How to Teleport" isn't bad either, it's got a ton of cool sounds. These new Jane Remover tracks are some of my favorites of hers and although these aren't attached to a new project, I really hope she pushes some of these ideas further in the future.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"We Will Rock You (Megan Thee Stallion Version)" | "Neva Play" - Megan Thee Stallion
◇ released: Sept. 5, 2024 | Sept. 6, 2024 ◇ genres: southern hip hop, trap, pop rap, drift phonk
Big week for Megan Thee Stallion fans it seems! First, with the bizarre collaboration with Queen for a remix of sports stadium staple "We Will Rock You" ... it's fine. A bit gaudy and awkward, but I don't hate it. The next day she released "Neva Play" with RM of BTS, which is a bit better, but not particularly amazing either. I think it's the beat more than anything. I don't want to hear Megan over a phonk beat in all honesty. Neither Megan's or RM's verse stood out to me either. Oh well!
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"For Sure" - Ethel Cain
◇ released: Sept. 5, 2024 ◇ featured on American Football (Covers) (not yet released) ◇ genres: slowcore, dream pop, post-rock
Following Iron and Wine's indie folk reimagining of "Never Meant," Ethel Cain is the next to contribute to the new American Football covers album with her version of "For Sure." I definitely appreciate what she does with this one. The slow-burning, super lush sound just lulls you into a trance all the way until the big climax in the middle. I didn't have high hopes for this covers project - although I'm mostly just butthurt because I thought American Football were teasing NEW music instead of an anniversary celebration of their first LP, but I digress. This is a really great cover and I'm a bit more excited to hear what the rest of this project has in store.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"Unt" - Pinhead Gunpower
◇ released: Sept. 5, 2024 ◇ featured on Unt (not yet released) ◇ genres: punk rock, pop punk, power pop
Green Day side-project Pinhead Gunpowder are back with their first new song in 16 years. It's a bit of a snoozefest to be honest. Billie Joe Armstrong has settled into his ways as a vocalist and everything he sings has this level of cleanness to it which is a bit unbecoming of a punk record. It sounds a bit rougher than what you would expect from Green Day proper, but it still just feels a bit toothless. Not doing much for me instrumentally either.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"The Emptiness Machine" - Linkin Park
◇ released: Sept. 5, 2024 ◇ featured on From Zero (not yet released) ◇ genres: alternative rock, alternative metal, post-hardcore
Linkin Park are returning years after the unfortunate passing of former frontman Chester Bennington, but this time with a new vocalist Emily Armstrong - who definitely doesn't have ANY baggage whatsoever! Truth be told, I've never been a big Linkin Park fan and unfortunately that remains to be the case with this new single. It just feels way too drenched in dramatics to the point where it feels a bit sterile to me. Armstrong's verses were fine, albeit a bit generic. Yeah, I just don't think this is for me. To longtime fans of the band, I hope you guys like this!
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"Ego" - Halsey
◇ released: Sept. 6, 2024 ◇ featured on The Great Impersonator (not yet released) ◇ genres: pop rock, alternative rock, pop punk, power pop
Halsey is releasing her new fifth studio album soon, which will feature all of her singles over the past few months as well as this new one "Ego." I don't dislike this song or anything, but I'm not seeing the picture she's painting here. I guess these new songs have been eclectic, but I fail to see how they'll coincide on a full-length project together. This is definitely a departure from the nostalgic alt-rock of "Lonely Is the Muse," instead leaning more into poppier sounds. Her songwriting is very personal and intense across these songs, but I worry that these constant flip-flopping between sounds will obscure that. We shall see.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"ELEMENTS" - wolfears
◇ released: Sept. 6, 2024 ◇ genres: post-punk, funk, afrobeat
This groovy new single from wolfears is really sick. There's this palpable anxiety to it that makes everything feel exciting. Everything is in constant motion. The grooves are prickly, never allowing you to settle into them. Their vocals sound like they're reciting mantras and chants which adds to the uneasiness. It's a good feeling of unease though. Her musicianship is pretty impeccable on this cut too as she handles every bit of instrumentation here. I could've been fooled into thinking this was the work of a full band. Overall, "ELEMENTS" is a really solid track and if you're a fan of either the Talking Heads or Fela Kuti - hopefully you're fans of both - give this a listen!
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"Ruby Rosary" - A$AP Rocky feat. J. Cole
◇ released: Sept. 6, 2024 ◇ featured on DON'T BE DUMB (not yet released) ◇ genres: jazz rap, east coast hip hop, cloud rap
A$AP Rocky has released the third single leading up to his new record DON'T BE DUMB. This is a really good track, I'm loving the jazz rap production a lot. Rocky's verses continue to wow me during this rollout, more than they have in some time. They're not the most impressive, but they're undeniably smooth as hell. He's bringing some confidence into this one. Even J. Cole's verse wasn't that bad, he needed a verse that was at the very least good after "Grippy" and his rough MIGHT DELETE LATER tape. Yeah, I'm loving this. This is shaping up to be a really promising project, hopefully we get a concrete release date in the coming weeks.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ thanks for reading :3

the video has completely disappeared from what I can tell so I don't know if you guys will believe me but there used to be this random lyrics video of The Glow, Pt. 2 by The Microphones except for some reason the uploader put it over images of super monkey ball. these are the only screenshots I have saved from that when I originally made a tweet about it that got no traction (didn't save the link either)
i swear to god I'm not lying about this

top five albums?
even better--i made a new topsters. because narrowing it down to 5 is hard.
i didn't let myself repeat artists otherwise there would be more goats (tallahassee especially but beat the champ is also up there lol) on here
album listing under the cut:
hospice - the antlers (ultimate crying album)
all hail west texas - the mountain goats (combines classic goats lo-fi with their more contemporary lyrical sensibilities. great to yell along with)
the money store - death grips (it's as good as every annoying music critic says it is)
dragon new warm mountain i believe in you - big thief (one of two very recent albums on here. adrienne lenker is a god.)
the age of adz - sufjan stevens (maybe not his best album objectively, but the subject matter hits hard.)
bury me at makeout creek - mitski (my first mitski album back in 2014, and still my favorite. defined my teenage years.)
igor - tyler, the creator (no one does it like tyler)
nebraska - bruce springsteen (along with purple rain, the two albums my mom played for me as a kid that have stuck around the longest. sorry prince i just have atlantic city stuck in my head rn!)
twin fantasy - car seat headrest (either version. will toledo and i are from the same general area so i'm automatically biased towards him and then he makes this fucking. gay opus.)
burn pymalion!!! a better guide to romance - the scary jokes (did things to my head when i was 18/19/20 and does things to my head still.)
comfort eagle - cake (GOOD ASS ALBUM WITH HORNS ON IT)
fetch the bolt cutters - fiona apple (c'mon)
the glow pt 2 - the microphones (other ultimate crying album)
dirty computer - janelle monáe (insane album. cohesive and beautiful. i love janelle's older stuff and i love age of pleasure but dirty computer is just fucking out of this world.)
e•mo•tion - carly rae jepsen (see my comment about death grips)
69 love songs - the magnetic fields (kind of cheating bc it's so long but. what can i say. it's a good album.)
10,000 gecs - 100 gecs (the newest album on here. i don't remember an album i've had as much fun listening to as this one. fuck all gec haters.)
depression cherry - beach house (best album to get high on the substance of your choice (including life if you don't partake in anything) to)
trick - alex g (alex g good)
my cute fiend sweet princess - kimya dawson (who else had their world rocked by the juno soundtrack at a young age)
remain in light - talking heads (along with stop making sense, which felt like cheating, the talking heads record we had in the house)
flood - they might be giants (tmbg is just plain good at what they do)
the crane wife - the decemberists (C'MON)
reddishness - girls rituals (not for everyone, but it hits for me. it might hit for you.)
pet sounds - the beach boys (it came down to this or blond by frank ocean lol. but i feel like you don't get blond without pet sounds. so.)

hi <3 I am super bad at expanding my taste in music but I started listening to csh bc of you so I'm wondering if you have any more band recommendations you could share?
hi yeah absolutely!! i've got recommendations for pretty much any genre but if you like csh here's some bands/albums you should check out:
glow pt. 2 by the microphones
haha by the garden
in the aeroplane over the sea by neutral milk hotel (one of my favorite albums of all time, you've probably at least heard of them in passing but i know will is a big fan of theirs)
lots of modest mouse's early stuff, i'd start with building nothing out of something and/or the lonely crowded west
portamento by the drums
meth wax's self titled album
come in by weatherday (they are STUPID underrated and soundwise this album reminds me a lot of twin fantasy mirror to mirror)
the first glass beach album by glass beach
pretty much anything by AJJ but my favorite albums of theirs are christmas island and the bible 2 (one of my favorite bands, they're a folk punk group so they're not super similar to csh in sound but they have a lot of that same intense vulnerability in their lyrics that will does)
deathconsciousness by have a nice life (lots of long, structurally ambitious, multi-act tracks. their song earthmover reminds me a lot of some of will's longer songs)
#csh's music is so unique that its hard to pinpoint bands that directly remind me of them#but these are all great and most csh fans i know also listen to them#also its so sweet when people tell me they started listening to csh because of me i feel like a missionary#but lmk if u end up liking any of these or want more recommendations!!#i listen to a pretty wide variety of music so name a genre/vibe and i got you#answered#csh

Rob "Sparky Deathcap" Campesinos!' favourite records of the decade
December 30th, 2009
Oh dear, I spent way too long over this list. And I seem to have included at least 35% of all of the albums that have been released over the decade. Having said that, lists like this are what define a man’s worth and when I die, I hope that my headstone reads: “Chose Animal Collective’s Campfire Songs over Merriweather Post Pavilion”. And this I did, because I always work to THE FORMULA (2 parts obscure records by well known bands + 2 parts obscure records by obscure bands + 1 part well known records by well known bands in a desperate attempt to demonstrate how normal and likeable I am). So please like me, I’m so thoroughly cool and good at lists.
Akron/Family- Akron/Family
A wonderful, vital, pulsating album. Try to imagine a white horse galloping up a waterfall. No, that’s not a horse, that’s a unicorn. And why have you taken your trousers off?
Jim O’Rourke- Insignificance
That Jim O’Rourke as a solo artist has been so illusive since this record makes it seem all the more like a precious gift that he casually deigned to fart out for the rest of us one lazy, vacant Sunday whilst washing his car. His vocal is reserved and quiet, as if, reclined in his leatherette office chair, he is comfortably operating within the bounds of his own brilliance. This is no rushed job, however; the arrangements and the production, even the lyrics are all absolutely sublime. Son of a bitch.
Ben and Bruno- 100 Grim Reapers
Ben and Bruno is the beautiful, unsung project of Peter J Brant a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan. I first heard this when staying at the house of a wonderful lady called Bernie with the Seattle band Tiny Vipers after a gig. Bernie made a phenomenal vegan curry, got us some beer and put 100 Grim Reapers on. It was one of the most ethereal experiences of my life. And then I fell asleep and had a disturbing dream about accidentally pulling all the fur off Bernie’s cat and having to explain it. It wasn’t my fault, by the way, it was all just Velcroed on in the first place.
Joni Mitchell- Travelogue
This is a collection of orchestral re-recordings of songs from throughout Mitchell’s career, but rather than stumbling into re-hashed irrelevance, this record offers up something all the more poignant within the re-workings. By this point a large proportion of her vocal agility has been ravaged by age and a smoking habit that she has cultivated since her early teens, but perhaps as a consequence her phrasing and gravitas are heightened. Amelia, the soaring paean to the lost pilot Amelia Earhart suddenly transforms into a crippling summation of her emotional shortcomings from the loftier heights of old age; “maybe I’ve spent my hole life,” she sings, “in clouds at icy altitudes”.
Smog- Dongs Of Sevotion
Dongs of Sevotion probably lacks the cohesion of A River Ain’t Too Much To Love, but is an absolute tour de force of intense, minimal songcraft. Dress Sexy At My Funeral alone is a work of beguiling emotional complexity, dragging the listener in with a jangly tune and that old, detached Callahan wit before leaving them battered on the curb, mascara streaming.
Sufjan Stevens- Seven Swans
I once subjected Sufjan Stevens to a really terrible interview for my student newspaper, in which, before slipping him my demo, I remarked that Seven Swans was my favourite of his records. He seemed a little bit embarrassed and unwilling to talk about it- possibly because of the deeply personal nature of record’s religious subject matter- possibly because he was bored and hungry and overheard me drunkenly critiquing his satchel. Seven Swans appears at face value not to be as ambitious as his other studio records, but the intimate, pithy production of Daniel Smith emphasises Sufjan’s exceptional talent as a singer-songwriter in the classic mould. And for the record, I now own a satchel.
Microphones- The Glow pt 2
It’s tricky to isolate one Phil Elvrum record, he has been one of the few genuine musical auteurs of this decade, but this just shades it in my opinion. There are few more glorious sounds in life than the moment in the title track when doubled-up acoustic guitars surface with the line “I took my shirt off… in the yard”.
Papa M- Whatever, Mortal
This is a beautiful, mumbling, damaged folky record in the Louisville tradition, from just before that big alt-folk explosion that left everything covered in tattered cheesecloth and broken old bits of crumhorn for a few years.
Deerhoof- Apple O’
Well, it could’ve been any single one of their records, but possibly on the strength of Apple Bomb alone this album has made the cut.
Danielson Famile- Fetch The Compass Kids
I so desperately wanted to be in Danielson Famile. In fact I was once tentatively offered a support slot with them only to be bumped off the bill by some band called Los Campesinos!. It’s hard to imagine this record being made today, although Danielson have always been a law unto themselves and this is a joyful, unhinged masterpiece.
Joanna Newsom- Milk Eyed Mender
Seeing as Aleks chose Ys, I’ll go for Milk Eyed Mender. It’s easy to forget that when Milk Eyed Mender first emerged it was largely critically derided in the UK as kooky nu-folk hipster rubbish, but luckily in this instance the cream eventually rose to the top and still tastes as fresh as it did in 2004. What a neat little metaphor.
Lambchop- Nixon
As you may remember, 9/11 profoundly influenced everything that bobbed in its hellish wake, but it’s easy to forget that the world before it wasn’t exactly some sort of Dario G-esque utopian dreamscape. This record dates from 2000 and tackles the familiar theme of darkness and corruption lurking beneath the placid surface of American society. The arrangements are as rich as a Norman Rockwell painting, the lyrics wry and melancholic as a Hopper.
Brian Wilson- Smile
As anyone who has heard the original Smile recordings will attest, this record sounds like Jayne MacDonald and her cruise ship choir taking on Arvo Part’s yet to be discovered Ulysses, The Musical!. It lacks any of the intensity, spontaneity and sprawling mess of the original tapes, yet standing alone this is still a phenomenal, historic record.
Grizzly bear- Veckatimest
Sir Alex Ferguson always used to muse that if he only had “a team full of Roy Keanes” he would win every game until the end of time. In reality this concept is flawed: whilst steely in midfield, this would be a team hopelessly short on pace, finishing, a decent ‘keeper and at any one time depleted by 90% due to suspensions.
Grizzly Bear conform as near to this model as any band can get, but rather than turning out a choir of tone-deaf bawling Irish midfield generals, they are four angel-voiced Ed Droste-alikes. Actually, come to think of it, Grizzly Bear are more like really good team full of fabulously talented players -like Newcastle, perhaps- but that wouldn’t have given me the chance to take a drunken swing at Ol’ Roy.
Animal Collective- Campfire Songs
Campfire Songs was recorded in one take on a porch in Maryland using 3 minidisc players with tiny Sony electret mics. The natural ambient sounds of wind and twigs cracking, coupled with the strongly impulsive nature of the performances lend this record a strong documentary feel. The record’s slow intimacy makes this feel more Mt Eerie than Merriweather, but in truth I haven’t heard anything else that really sounds like it.
Why?- Elephant Eyelash
As douchie as it will doubtless sound, I don’t think there could have been a more 00sie record than this. Broken bits of meandering, almost Tarantino-esque dialogue mixed with dazzling airtight couplets assembled with NASA precision, set to… OK I’m going to stop before I completely suck the lifeblood out of this album and all music for all eternity. Thnx.
Magnetic fields- 69 Love Songs
If Stephin Merritt weren’t such a contrarian, he’d be the Burt Bacharach of this century. Whilst Stephin too probably spends the vast majority of his time flashing toothy pianoside grins with a white towel draped around his shoulders, luckily he also possesses the kind of obscene lyrical wit that would make old Burt keel over backwards into the first chair trombone of the Tijuana Brass. 69 Love Songs sneaks into this list on the technicality that it wasn’t available in the UK until 2000, and ten years on it is as much a joy as it was then. A truly remarkable and audacious record.
Steve Reich- Daniel Variations
I’m just getting into what “they” seem to have dubbed “contemporary classical” but this was mind blowing. Steve Reich’s influence on indie music has been palpable (see: Sufjan), but equally indie music must have made something of an impression on Reich. Anyway, this is a choral and orchestral masterpiece.
Beach House- Beach House
Really cool record, but you know that already.
Joan Of Arc- Boo! Human
Probably the ultimate break-up album. I’m hazy on the details, but I’m led to believe that Tim Kinsella (formerly of Charlton Athletic) broke up with his wife and then wrote songs with titles like 9/11 2 and A Tell Tale Penis. It’s kind of like being a tourist in another’s personal living hell, but then so is a trip to Chester Zoo and that’s pretty popular.

There's no black or white, no change in light No night, no golden sun The sound of cars, the smell of bars, the awful feeling of electric heat Under fluorescent lights, there's sacrifice, there's hard feelings, there's pointless waste

oh it kind of sucks to have a long description in alt text. Image description below:
[image id: A character profile page titled "My OC in Symbolism", with one large drawing and six smaller drawings to its right. The large drawing is a bust of Conviction, a grey-skinned tiefling with small curling horns, messy short black hair with a white streak, and empty solid white eyes. They have short, scruffy eyebrows, bags under their eyes, and moles under their right eye and lip. They are wearing a white, loose top that is damaged and worn, over a lace shirt covering their neck and with two ornately decorated gold bracers. There is a gold medallion around their neck with an illustration of a hawk, and they wear small gold stud earrings. Small scars cover their hands, crossed over their chest and sparking bright yellow-green lightning to each side of the drawing. Behind their head is a circle of the same yellow-green color, and the background is a muted purple with swirls. The first small drawing is titled "1. color", and is green/gray, the same yellow-green as before with the grey of their skin. The second drawing is titled "2. flora", and is oakmoss, a kind of yellow-green branching lichen. The third drawing is "3. fauna" and is a drawing of a screech owl, a small grey owl with bright yellow-green eyes. The fourth drawing is "4. an object", and is a drawing of yellow-green lightning striking a tree in the dark of night. The fifth drawing is "5. a song", and shows Conviction's hands, gesturing gently, set along some of the lyrics of "The Glow, Pt. 2" by The Microphones. The lyrics are: "…I'm still living/I'm still flesh/I hold on to awful feelings". The sixth and last drawing is "6. a feeling", and is a drawing of Conviction's silhouette, floating in space, exploding with yellow-green lightning. The drawing is titled "loss of control". /end id]
I love doing art meme trends months after they are over. Image description in alt text. Everyone say hi Conviction!

This is just an open invitation for you to talk about Mount Eerie if you wanna do that. I saw your post about the cd shipping and looked up lost wisdom PT 2 and really like their music! If you have any recommendations for what to listen to first pls share but no pressure (・∀・)
oh ye ;o; !! wwell listen to Lost Wisdom part 1 then! its so good, one of my favourites.. also first mount eerie thing i listened to years ago. lost wisdom, what? and voice in headphones are my favourites.. also check out the version of lost wisdom on the wind's poem album , its good too. the one with julie doiron is my fave though. and then, i say this with a big warning, big content warning for directly confronting death and mourning in some cases written only days after, but listen to A Crow Looked At Me if you can. i cant rly say anything to describe how it made me feel apart from it felt like my chest being torn open .. also soria moria is a masterpiece, one of my favourite songs of all time :' '') though i wish it didnt have to exist, like wish genevieve castrée was still around instead of course. she's one of my favourite illustrators ever. . . but ye, after A Crow.. then there's Now Only , which is sorta a sequel to crow.. i love it a lot too. then after those idk, check out different things (which is what im still doing rn), even phil elverums others work as The microphones. some albums are much louder, much noisier than others.. ones like Dawn are very soft for the most part (this ones rly nice and iirc was written in a little remote cabin in norway, so thats sorta the vibes), and ones like wind's poem are louder, some are more electronic. . im going to listen to White Stag in full soon, i've heard one song from it and it needs to be listened to in order (a lot of th tracks in the albums kinda do, theres stories in them and sequels) , also im gonna listen to more of No Flashlight, Pre-Human Ideas, Clear Moon and etc etc etc. .. also The Glow part II by the microphones. . also been listening to geneviève castrée's music as ô paon, i like it lots too :'''' )
i hope you enjoy(?) or find something in his work. . truly one of my favourites of all time.. his lyricism is so amazing, so touching and raw and quiet in a way that isnt always soft, the way he strums and plays guitar and uses distortion and crackling textured sounds too is so good.. i love this music so much n so gently :’-o
here's some fave mount eerie songs just because: it wasn't the hurting, woolly mammoths mighty absence, soria moria, voice in headphones, lost wisdom, cold mountain, tintin in tibet, no flashlight, mud grave, sighing, what?, through the trees pt. 2, my heart is not at peace, ravens, and crow. . 🌿
