And I used to ship adult Lydia with Beej and omg.

I cant believe this ship got its crumbs in the new movie with adult Lydia, I absolutely love it.

Tell us your favorite Beetlebabes moments

Oh by, this is hard! Forgive me, because I can't recall the season or episode name, but there is one moment where Lydia thinks she's ugly so BJ sends her to the Neitherworld in the cartoon where everything is ugly. But she thinks all the monsters are beautiful. He asked her why and she says "Well, I think you're beautiful." And after gagging and screaming his eyes get big and he says "Ya really think so?!"

There was another moment in the episode where he gets rich neighbors and he goes into credit card debt to prove he's better than them. Ultimately all things get repossessed and he says something to Lydia along the lines of "well babes, now all I have left is my body hair. Which some women find immensely attractive." I thought that was pretty sus.

And come on, there were so many romantic coded moments in the cartoon! Like he had a photo of her in EVERY room of the roadhouse, he had an altar of her in his mind for God's sakes!

There is also the fan theory that while the Maitlands were talking to Juno for 3 months Lydia hung out in the attic reading the handbook while Beetlejuice watched her in the model and fell in love. I buy into that theory.

As a Moth to Flame: Coming here had been a mistake. Probably. At the very least, Danny had not expected to be shot. Lydia hadn't expected to find someone bleeding out in an alleyway, but at least they weren't already dead…right?

So do you agree with the theory that this whole was a BJ-induced fever dream Lydia was having?

The theory that the ENTIRE movie was a dream? And that Astrid never existed? No, I’m not into that. I hear people taking about hidden symbolism and stuff they pick up from, maybe there’s something to it? But let’s be honest, I LOVE Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, but there are some issues with the plot. I don’t think the writers were going THAT deep.

When I was recovering from surgery zooted on pain pills I watched Beetlejuice and noticed a lot of symbolism. When I sobered up and went online I saw my assumptions were true, or at least I wasn’t the only one that picked up on them. Maybe when the sequel streams I will repeat the experiment and see if I notice anything. Until then, I just see BJBJ as a fun, spooky, drama comedy.

But then again, there are smarter people on this website who look at things deeper than me. I’m a woman of simple pleasures. I see a horny goofy man in a striped suit and I laugh.
