FIC: "Scales are for Adornment" (MLB; Lukanette; LBSC Lukanette Month 2024; Winters)
@lovebugs-and-snakecharmers is doing a Lukanette Month for September 2024, and we all just kinda tossed some prompts in the disco to compile a list?  We ended up with 71 prompts, so I decided I’d roll some dice to pick a prompt, do a twenty minute (ish, bc we all know sometimes they run away from me) sprint, and try to get some short fics out this month?
(...how many days are we into this before these two popped up? 😂 Thank Bloody. She's been sharing some WIP art that got me itching. đŸ–€)
Read on Ao3
Prompt 33: Scales
There was a soft noise, a tinkling like chimes, barely perceptible on the far edges of his awareness.  It was just enough to be distracting.  Just enough to draw him from the warmth and softness and comfort of sleep.

just enough to make him aware of how empty his arms – their nest – was.
A giggle floated on the breeze, making him twist and reach for his missing mate.  She wasn’t where she was supposed to be.  The bedding beside him was painfully empty.  Cold.  The chimes sounded again, and his brow furrowed.
His eyes felt too heavy as he struggled to open them, which
wasn’t fair.  It wasn’t even winter.  It was still early in the spring, and he supposed close enough to the end of his brumation that the lethargy was expected, but it was still
frustrating.
Hadn’t he spent enough time sleeping over the winter?
Wasn’t it time for him to be awake?  Up and about and enjoying his new mate?
She was at the kitchen table when he finally hauled himself out of the nest and to her side.  Scattered around her on the top were
pebbles?  No.  They were
he rubbed his eyes, squinting at the familiar teal shapes glinting in the afternoon light.
“I don’t recall you sleeping this much last summer,” she said, distracting him from the objects on the table.  She had turned towards him on the bench, her arms wrapping around his middle.  Her fingers danced along the line where scales met skin at his back, scratching lightly – and gods, did that feel good

“I don’t, not u
usually,” he said around a yawn.  “I think ssssomeone’s worn me out.”
“Hey!” she laughed, leaning back to glare at him.  It was half-hearted at best, and there was a grin dancing on the corners of her mouth he longed to kiss away.  “You can’t possibly blame me when you’re the one who always starts it!”
“I do not recall sssstarting it lasssst night,” he hummed, dipping to kiss her.  He sighed as her nails scratched along his scales, but then he winced when a nail caught and
tugged.  She pulled away in surprise, her eyebrows lifting as she held up
oh.  “Ah.  Sssso that’sssss what’sss happening.”
“Luka?” she asked, looking up at him.  She laid the scale on the table, and he realized that’s why the things were so familiar.  And gods, how much had he been shedding that she had that many to
just what was she doing with his old scales, anyway?
“Why do you
what are my sssscales doing on the table, love?” he asked, picking up one of the older ones.  He had never paid much attention to them, once they were gone.  They were just something to clear out of the bedding when his new skin came in.  But it appeared Marinette had been collecting them – had amassed quite the collection, from the looks of it – and they were
hard.  Almost like stones, or the shells his sister used to collect along the seaside.
“They’re beautiful, don’t you think?” she asked, smiling as the scale he was holding caught the light and gleamed.  He looked at her, amused.  He had never thought so, but he had never been a particularly vain snake.  Unlike his father.  “I just
there’s so many of them.  I thought
I don’t know.  They were too pretty to just toss away.”
“I probably shhhould have warned you,” he said.  “I shhhed, in the sssspring.  It’ssss
you might ssssee it as a ssssummer cold?  It’ssss natural, and I confesssss I’d barely thought of it thissss year.  With
everything.”
“
if I wasn’t so worried about you saying you’re getting sick, I’d have words for you for that,” she said, frowning.  He sank onto his coils beside her and pulled her into another kiss.  She frowned as she pulled back.  “No.  No distractions.  You’re getting sick?”
“I will be fine, love,” he said.  “Jusssst
a little groggy.  Ssssore.  Really itchy.  It only lasssstssss a few days, and when it’ssss over I have a nicccce, shhhiny new sssskin.”
She hummed, unconvinced, but he just kissed her again.
“Now, tell me,” he said.  “What are you planning to do with my sssscales?”
“I’m not sure yet,” she said, looking back at the table.  She grinned at him.  “Let’s call it a surprise, shall we?”
He rolled his eyes before he decided she’d maybe had enough time with her little project.  He scooped her up and pulled her back against him, and she laughed until he bent her back with another kiss.  She always said nothing helped a creative block like a little distraction, after all, and he was quickly becoming her favorite distraction

. : .
The next week was
unpleasant, at best.  Excruciating at worst.
He had perhaps downplayed how bad his yearly shedding could be – though that was perhaps just another stupid snake thing he had never fully considered warning his witch mate about.  The worst had been the day she’d come home from the market to find him passed out – and barely breathing – in the nest.  He had been fine, of course – his body just
slowed, a bit, as his skin shed.
(
then of course had been the actual skin, which
)
(
ok.  He owed her.  Big time.)
(
the way she had spent most of that first night just
running her hand over his new scales had been heaven, though.  If he was a cat he probably would have spent the whole damn night purring.)
(
he did, however, feel terrible that the intimacy had been caused not because she’d wanted to touch him but more because he’d scared her – terrified her, nearly caused her poor heart to give out on her, you awful snake – so.)
Still.
It was behind them now, and she’d be better prepared next year (“
oh my gods you do this every spring.”), and it was too glorious a day to be concerned with how awful the past week had been.  The sun was high in the sky, and he had an entire tail of fresh, shiny scales eager to soak up its warmth.
“Are you not joining me, love?” she called from the riverbank below.  He tipped his head back onto the rocks, smiling lazily at her.
“Perhapssss
” he paused, clearing his throat as she grinned at him.  “Perhaps you could join me up here?”
“Tempting,” she said, reaching behind her to undo the laces of her dress, “but I worked so hard on my new swimsuit
I was hoping to show it off today.”
“You don’t need a swimsuit, love,” he said, turning to frown at her.  “You’re jusssst fine without
”
And then her dress fell to her ankles.
And he saw exactly what she had been so busy with over the last week while he’d been busy writhing in itchy agony.
Or
rather what use she had decided to put his old scales to.
Her swimsuit.
If it could even be called that!
He had seen her swim clothes the previous summer – had seen what her friend Mylùne considered ‘swimwear’!  That
those
the skimpy garments barely covering her bits were underthings at best.  And barely, at that!
(“It’ssss called lingerie, you dumbassssss,” a sardonic voice that sounded suspiciously like his sister hissed in his head.)

not that he was complaining!  It was
it was
a bra and panties.  That yes, kept her covered, but it could hardly be considered decent.  By human standards, at least.  Rose would probably

it was probably best they didn’t tell Rose about this one.  She’d demand one for herself in Juleka’s scales, probably, and he
did not want to think about that.  Eugh.
On Marinette, though

His old scales had been woven together, and they shone like polished shells in the sunlight.  She was beautiful.  She was always beautiful, but there was something about seeing her wearing his scales like that that sparked something almost primal in him.  He wanted
he needed to
he ached for

“Luka?” she called, frowning, and he realized with a start that he had been silent – gobsmacked – just a moment too long.

that start also made him slip, his hands sliding along the slick rocks and losing their balance.  He tumbled tail over head with a mighty splash into the river, and he was barely aware of Marinette screaming after him as he plunged below the surface.  When he finally regained himself, pushing himself up from the bottom of the river to swim towards the surface and breaking through with a strangled gasp, Marinette was waiting for him.
“Luka!” she cried, slipping her hands along his sides and under his armpits to hoist him up.  They bobbed there, Luka watching her with wide, startled eyes, and Marinette staring back with panic in her own, and he blinked slowly as he tried to process what in the seven hells had just happened.  “Gods, are you all right?  What just happened?  What was that?”
“I
” he started, but he trailed off because he honestly didn’t know.  One minute he had been staring at her, wearing his
and then his eyes dropped, his gaze focusing on the breasts bobbing in the water beneath him.  On the teal scales shimmering along their edges, hugging them and holding them up as perfectly as

“Luk
” she started as he bent his head to her chest, her voice cutting off in a soft gasp as his nose skimmed along the edge of a cup.  His hand found her side, moving slowly up until it was holding the breast he was nuzzling – and then he pushed it up as he grazed his fangs along the soft, wet skin available to him.  His fangs caught on the edge of the his scales, and he hissed softly as a breathy giggle left her.  “I
I take it you like it?”
“That
is an undersssstatement,” he sighed, nuzzling her chest.  “How
when did you
?”
“I am very talented with a needle and thread,” she said, reaching up to brush her fingers through his hair, “and you have been very sleepy lately.”
“Did I truly shhhed thissss much?” he asked, glancing up at her.  She hummed, arching her back to push her chest closer to his mouth.  His other hand slipped along her back, reaching up to toy with the ties holding the top together.  He was torn, though, between his desire for more of her skin and the sight of his scales gleaming against that skin.
“I’ve been collecting them for a while,” she said.  “Honestly, Luka.  The nest is littered with them.”
“Ssssorry,” he chuckled, nipping at the mark above her heart.  The skin was starting to scar over, what with how often he bit her there.  He felt he should feel guilty about that, and yet

It was the same as that part of him that thrilled at seeing her new underthings.  Swimwear.  A little primal voice that hissed mine.
“You are not,” she giggled, nipping at his ear.  He hissed when she licked it, smiling.  “So.  You love it, then?”
“I love you,” he sighed, lifting her slightly to give him more access.  She hummed, the sound cutting off in a gasp as his claws lightly scratched along her back.  As he settled his face between her breasts and took a moment to just
be.  To breathe her in.  Bask in the fact that she was there and his and

“So
so who’s starting this one?” she giggled breathlessly when he turned his head to run his tongue along the inside of a breast.  He glanced up at her, grinning as he tugged on the tie and slipped the cup just a little lower.  Just enough for her nipple to slip out – just enough to flick his tongue against it with a hiss.
“You,” he insisted, cupping her ass and pulling her against him to grind up.  She slipped along his wet scales, her legs scrabbling to lock around him, but from her gasp he knew she had felt the point he was attempting to make.  “Looking like thissss, little mousssse
looking the way you always do
it is always you.”
She wasn’t sure when he had spun them, when he had pressed her back up against the rocks – when his tail had wrapped around her middle to hoist her up – but his mouth was working its way down, nibbling along her ribs and towards her stomach while her hands twisted in his hair.  Her head tipped back, her mouth dropping open as his fangs grazed along her skin.
“In
incorrigible,” she breathed, sighing as his fingers toyed with the waistband of her bottoms.
“For you?” he hummed, glancing up at her with a slow, satisfied smile.  “Always.”

Mistletoes are stupid, Ch.2
AO3
Now that I think about it it wasn‘t necessary to split this in two parts but oh well😂 Second part of my Secret Santa fic for @omnoramayday !!
Summary: An incident with a mistletoe makes Marinette leave the Christmas party at Adrien's house. She can find better ways to spend her night, for example delivering pizzas with her favorite pizza delivery person...
Sneaking back inside without being spotted by anyone had been easier than Marinette had anticipated. Adrien was enthralled by some story Nino was telling him and when Mylene had seen her, she did her best to distract Alya by dragging her to the buffet table. Marinette made a mental note to thank her for her service later.
Minutes later Ladybug flew over the rooftops of Paris, unphased by the cold due to the magic of her suit keeping her warm enough, looking out for akumas as she had promised. The city appeared to be safe for now, but even after she spotted Luka riding on his bike, several pizza boxes strapped onto the luggage rack, she suppressed the urge to immediately get to him and instead finished her patrol first.
That didn’t take her much longer and when she decided she was done, she returned to the area where Luka had been before. It sure had its perks that he was one of the few people who knew about her secret identity, because she could easily skip the usual detransforming in a nearby alley part and instead just land right next to his bike.
“Surprise!” Ladybug yelled.
“Wha—” Luka hit the brakes so hard that for a second she was afraid he’d fall over, but somehow he managed to keep his balance. Ladybug his her head between her shoulders. Maybe this wasn’t the best entrance she could’ve made. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“Mar— Ladybug?” He turned around. “What in the world are you doing here?”
“I told you I had a surprise for you.” She grinned at him and threw her hands in the air. “You couldn’t bail on your job, so I bailed on the party to keep you company!”
Luka blinked at her several times, looking visibly confused. “You
left a party just to hang out with me? While I’m on the job?”
Ladybug shrugged and stepped closer to him. “I just thought you might appreciate some company. Delivering pizzas is probably more fun with a friend, right?”
Luka still seemed very perplexed by the situation, but something in his eyes shifted. They became softer, like he was genuinely touched. “You
god, Marinette, you didn’t have to
” He let out a chuckle, sounding a little overwhelmed.
This was probably the first time Ladybug saw Luka caught off guard like this, but she couldn’t help but smile at how cute he was. She stepped even closer to rub up and down his arm.
“Hey,” she gave him a warm smile. “I just want to be a good friend and look out for you. And also make you an offer you can’t possibly refuse.”
“Oh? And what would that be?” Luka raised an eyebrow.
“How about you forget about your bike and switch to a much more efficient means of travel? For example”—she pointed to herself—”a superhero escort?”
Luka’s smile turned into a wide grin and then laughter. “You really came all the way here to make me finish my job quicker? Oh, Mari— ah, Ladybug, you’re too sweet.”
“So that’s a yes?” She lifted her eyebrows and seconds later, the bike was leaning against a nearby wall, the pizzas in Luka’s left hand while he put his right arm around the superheroine.
“Ready for take-off!” She chimed as they were pulled up in the air by Ladybug’s magical yoyo.
Their tactic was simple: Luka told her the address, she’d land somewhere near the house to put him down and let him walk over to the door without her being seen. After the delivery, she’d grab him again and leap off to the next house.
“I gotta say,” Luka said in between the 6th and 7th pizza, “on top of this being way faster than my bike, we can huddle for warmth and keep each other from freezing!”
Lucky for Ladybug he didn't look at her face to notice her hot cheeks, which must’ve matched the red from her suit.
After all the pizzas have been delivered, Ladybug landed in the same spot where they had left Luka’s bike earlier and sat him down before saying her detransformation phrase and feeling the pink light washing over her as she turned back to Marinette.
“We’ve finished all the deliveries in under five minutes!” Luka exclaimed as he checked the time on his phone. “You can’t lend me Sass for my next shift by any chance?” he joked.
“That’s enough using miraculouses for reasons other than fighting akumatized villains!” Tikki puffed her cheeks while Marinette and Luka both laughed and poked the kwami.
“Don’t worry, nobody will use miraculouses for delivery jobs anymore,” Marinette reassured her little friend, whom she handed a macaron in order to recharge. Tikki immediately let go of her worries and made herself comfortable in Marinette’s bad munching on the cookie.
“So,” Marinette looked up at Luka and grinned. “How does it feel being a man free of responsibilities?”
Luka laughed again. “Honestly, I can’t complain. Seriously, thank you so much for helping me with this. You didn’t have to do this at all and I appreciate that a ton that you did anyway.”
He promptly pulled her into a tight embrace and tucked her head below his. Which Marinette appreciated, because other than her enjoying being so close to him, he wouldn’t be able to see her blush.
“It was nothing.”
“You’re being too generous,” Luka whispered. “You have no idea how grateful I am for you showing up.” He let go of her and took a step back in order to look at her face. “How can I make this up to you?”
“Oh, don’t worry about it, you don’t have—”
“But I want to!” Luka interrupted and put a hand on Marinette’s shoulder. “You completely went out of your way to find me and help me deliver pizzas in the cold even though you could’ve spent all night at the Agreste mansion where it’s warm and there’s food and good music. You always were the most selfless person and still, you outdo yourself every time and I find that so amazing about you. You’re truly amazing.”
Marinette’s smile turned into a grin so wide her face hurt and on instinct, she pressed her face against his shoulder. “You’re being too nice to me, Luka
”
“You’re one to talk,” he chuckled and laid a hand on top of her head to gently stroke her hair. If she were Lady Noire, she’d start purring right now. Without thinking too much about it she carefully raised her arms and wrapped them around his torso and huddled closer to him. They must’ve looked like a couple if anyone saw them, but she didn’t mind one bit. And judging by how Luka didn’t move away but instead rested his other arm on her shoulder, he maybe didn’t mind it either.
Her heart thundered in her chest, but despite that she felt at ease. Luka was the only one who hit that balance between the anxiety of having a crush and the comfort of a loved one.
“So
how can I repay the favor? Do you have something in mind?”
We could just stay like this.
“I can bike us to Adrien’s house and I’d still get to be at the party.”
Marinette froze. She had completely forgotten about the party, but at the mention of it she was reminded of the anxiety she had felt after the mistletoe incident. Oh no, she absolutely didn’t want to go back.
But on the other hand, she couldn't keep Luka from going if he wanted. That wouldn’t be fair to him.
She slightly pushed herself away from Luka. “I guess we can go back to the party. But
. uhm
okay, I thought of something. What if we make a stop at the Christmas market and you buy me hot chocolate?”
That seemed like a fair compromise. They could still hang out for a little while, just the two of them, kind of like a date, before they’d go back.
Luka tilted his head slightly and for a second she was afraid he’d ask any further questions, but then he just gave her a kind smile.
“Sure, let’s get some hot chocolate to warm us up.”
The bike ride to the Christmas market was rather quiet. Neither spoke much, Marinette just pressed herself against his back and enjoyed how close they were once again. The market was less full than Marinette had anticipated, which was honestly nice, because they didn’t have to wait long for their hot chocolates.
They walked around a little and enjoyed the decorations before sitting down on a bench sipping their drinks.
“It was a nice idea coming here.” Luka commented after a while. “I haven’t had time this December to go to the Christmas market at all.”
“Guess I made a good call then,” Marinette replied. They fell into conversation easily, talking about everything and nothing for a while.
At some point, little snowflakes were starting to descend to the ground.
“Oh, it’s snowing!” Marinette chimed. She looked around as the world around them slowly turned white. But when she looked back at Luka, who had little snowflakes hanging in his bangs making him look even prettier than he already was, he didn’t seem to listen to her. His gaze was fixated on something above them and when she followed his gaze her blood ran cold.
Just above their heads, a small mistletoe was proudly hanging from the tree.
Oh for fucks sake, how did she not notice this stupid thing earlier? Couldn’t they have sat on literally any other bench?
She looked back at Luka, who was staring back at her and even though Marinette’s heart made several excited jumps at the idea of kissing Luka, she didn’t want this. Not like this.
After a silence that started to stretch out for way too long, Marinette was the first to open her mouth. “Uhm
 so—”
“We don’t have to,” Luka suddenly blurted out, then turned away and pressed his lips against his fist as if he regretted what he had just said.
Marinette felt a weird mix of hurt and relief. “Oh
”
“Sorry, that came out weird.” Luka shook his head. “Just
you looked a little horrified just now, so—”
“It’s not what you think, it’s just
I lied to you, something did happen at the party.”
Luka blinked at her and she couldn’t stop the words from coming out.
“I didn’t just come to you to help you out, primarily I just wanted to desperately leave the party because of that stupid mistletoe that Alya placed there and then I was suddenly standing below it with Adrien of all people. It was most likely a scheme to get us back together, and it was so awkward—not that it would’ve been any less awkward with anyone else but still—and I panicked and pushed him and ran out into the garden and then I called you but I didn’t tell you because I felt stupid and—”
“Hey, hey, hey” he gently laid a hand on her shoulder. “Slow down and breathe, will you?”
He slowly moved his hand up and down, breathing together with her. It helped her calm down.
“So if I get this right, you left the party because you were trying to avoid Alya or Adrien again after this mistletoe situation?”
Marinette sighed. “I stood around outside for an eternity—without a jacket I might add. Please don’t scold me for that, Mylene and Tikki already did.”
Luka shook his head. “Okay, I won’t.”
“And then I thought I’d feel better if I called you and it worked. I didn’t plan to leave the party early, I thought maybe I’d calm down and then confront Alya and solve the issue by communicating with her, but
 I left. Like a coward.”
“You’re not a coward,” Luka argued. “It’s completely understandable you’d want space from her afterwards. If she ruined the party for you like that, you have no obligation to stay. Or go back there for that matter.”
Marinette sighed. “But don’t you want to go?”
Luka shrugged. “I mean, I would’ve loved to be there, but
I don’t think I’d have a good time knowing that you’re uncomfortable there. Besides, it's only a matter of time before Adrien invites us over again, missing one party isn’t the end of the world.”
“Ugh, I’m frustrated with him as well.” Marinette crossed her arms before her chest. “I saw he wasn’t into it either, but he still didn’t protest. He just told me that we should get this done with.”
“Why does that not surprise me?” Luka commented. “Looks like he still has a hard time standing up for himself.”
“Yeah, and that just added pressure for me.”
"I had a feeling something was up when you called me earlier. You could’ve told me about it, you could never bother me with your problems. I’m a good listener and I’d do anything to cheer you up.”
“I know,” Marinette gave him a smile and poked his side. “I appreciate that you’re always there for me. And I’m sorry I didn’t say anything."
“Don’t apologize.” He stroked her hair again. Marinette could get used to this.
“It’s just
so stupid, you know? The whole tradition with the mistletoe in general. It’s just forcing two people to do something sort of intimate and special with each other, even if they might not want to. I don’t want to kiss Adrien because some stupid twigs said so. And it’s the same thing with you, I’d hate a forced kiss like that. I want you to kiss me because you want to kiss me and not because some ridiculous Christmas tradition told you to!”
Luka stared at her for a few seconds. The christmas lights reflected in his eyes and it looked like his cheeks were dusted with a subtle blush, which might’ve been because of the cold, but Marinette was pretty sure it wasn’t there before.
“So just so I get this right”—Luka scratched the back of his head—“You
 want me to kiss you?”
Now it was Marinette’s turn to stare. She hadn’t
wait, she had said that . She had literally admitted that she wants Luka to kiss her!
Despite the cold, her cheeks were burning. “Oh, uh
I did say that, didn’t I?” she let out an awkward laugh and scratched her neck. “W-well, I
 would you want to
 kiss me?”
When she slowly looked up at him again, she was met with his beautiful eyes staring at her with so much adoration and maybe even longing. “Marinette, you’re the song in my head that plays on repeat, the clearest musical note, the sincerest melody. You have been that since day one, and you still are.” He carefully took her hands in his. “Those feelings never went away, and I don’t think they ever will. So yes, I would love to kiss you. If that’s truly what you want?”
Marinette held her breath and closed her eyes shut. “I want that.”
His lips tasted like hot chocolate when they carefully brushed against each other, and hers probably did as well. His breath felt hot against her face and despite the cold, her entire body felt like it was on fire. Careful hands cradled her cheeks and she grabbed his scarf to keep him close to her.
The kiss was sweet, full of feeling and when she pulled away he chased her lips for a fleeing second before his eyes fluttered open again. They held each other’s gazes for a few seconds before chuckling awkwardly.
“So
you said something about repaying me earlier? I have another idea how you can do that.”
“And what would that be?”
Instead of answering, she leaned in a second time, now with more confidence. Luka gently kissed her back with just as much confidence. They embraced each other tighter and when they pulled away again, Marinette saw the Christmas lights reflecting in Luka’s eyes like stars. His cheeks were red, whether due to the cold or the kiss she wasn’t sure, but the way he looked at her with so much adoration made her whole body feel weak. Her lips curled into a smile so big her face hurt.
“You have some more repaying to do.”
“You can just say you like kissing me.” Luka playfully rolled his eyes. “But I’ll admit, the feeling is mutual.”
Marinette leaned in a few more times, holding Luka's face with both her hands to keep him there. Kissing him was like heaven and she never wanted to stop doing it.
“You like kissing me that much?” Luka asked in between kisses, sounding a little cocky. Marinette grinned.
“No, it’s just your face is really warm,” she said sarcastically, causing them both to laugh.
“That’s mean,” he replied. “But
let’s say we moved somewhere warmer, like the house boat for example, and then we’ll have warm faces outside of kissing. Would you still want more kisses in that case?”
Marinette shrugged. “Guess you’ll have to find out.”
As soon as they reached the empty house boat, neither wasted any time. They made themselves comfortable on the couch and soon found themselves in a lazy make out session, forgetting the world around them.

Question For...
Felinette Drabbles
(upcoming on Ao3, published on Patreon)
_________
Carapace: Anyways! [reaches for a piece of paper in the jar] I'll take the next one
“For Ladybug, did you ever learn to kiss on tomatoes?” Ladybug: What kind of stupid question is that?! And who cares anyway, even if I learned to kiss on cucumbers?! [Argos starts coughing] Carapace [slaps Argos on the back lightly]: You okay, dude? Argos: Yeah, yeah, I’m good
The air went in the wrong place
Rena Rouge [turns to Ladybug]: You didn’t really learn to kiss on cucumbers, girl, did you? Argos [under his breath]: I hope she did
Ladybug: Of course not, Rena! It was just a silly answer to a silly question... Argos [sighs in disappointment and looks at Ladybug]: You know, it's never too late to start practicing on cucumbers... [Ladybug looks at him for a long time without saying anything] Chat Noir [sits with a very thoughtful face]: There’s something fascinating about this idea with cucumbers... Viperion [blushes]: Next question, anyone?! [in high pitched voice]

Chapter 5
FIRST | PREV | AO3
Note: the song Luka 'sings' in this chapter is called Somethin' Stupid by Frank and Nancy Sinatra
Gotham City Opera House. Tim had been here a few times in his life but vaguely remembered those memories. After all, he was probably 6 or 8 the last time he came here.
And he certainly wasn’t expecting to come here to see one of his favorite artists perform here.
He giddily sat in his seat, looking down at the crowd that gathered to see the Luka Couffaine.
Hundreds of people gathered together today simply because they all liked the same artist, causing a smile to rise onto his face.
A hand settled onto his shoulder snapped him back to reality, reminding him of the true reason as to why he was in the opera house in the first place.
He dropped his smile, letting his face return to its neutral faze.
He quickly bottled up his excitement, releasing a deep breath as he mentally prepared for the work ahead of him.
That’s right. He’s here for recon. Not to enjoy himself. He’s here for the mission and nothing else.
“Do you think she’ll show up?” Tim asked Bruce, quickly scanning the crowd although he knew it might take all night to try and pick out Beetle from all the people down there. Picking her out from tonight’s crowd was already a challenge in itself, given the girl’s short stature by nature.
“She will.” Bruce confidently said, watching as the hall lights dimmed as the concert began. “She has to.”
After all, there is no one else in Gotham she could turn to besides an old friend, or rather, an old partner in her current situation.
-
Jason let out an internal sigh as he fixed his cap, making sure to tuck in his white streak. He fixed the ‘SECURITY’ jacket he just borrowed from a passing employee, hating that it barely fitted him.
Hopefully the employee stayed asleep the entire time he was borrowing their uniform.
He stationed himself a few yards from the scanners but enough to still get a view from everyone who made their way towards the seating area of the venue.
He would scan among the heads of the crowds that fought their way towards the merchandise booths or were eagerly taking selfies of themselves or with posters with Couffaine’s face on it.
Many fans passed by, but none were the face of the girl Bruce was looking for.
None were Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
Marinette
what was so special about her?
Why did Bruce want to find her?
Or was she just another mistake he wanted to correct?
He will know once he finds her and asks her himself.
Jason looked down at his watch, noticing that the entry time was coming to an end and the show was about to start.
He watched as one last person passed through the scanner, signaling Jason he had to move to the next phase of his plan as he didn’t see her walk through the scanners.
He had to get into the crowd and pick out her disguise before she had time to disappear back into the shadows.
-
“Gotham!” Luka shouted with a smile into his mic, “how are we doing tonight?” The crowd shouted and yelled back in response. Luka laughed.
It was already coming to an end and yet, Luka didn’t want his concert to come to an end.
After all, he had yet to see Marinette.
Where is she? “I’m glad to hear that you’ve been enjoying this night! Without you guys, I wouldn’t be here tonight, singing for you all.”
Another roar erupted. Luka grinned. “Well, here’s one of my favorite songs, a song that was a bit different from my usual ones but really means a lot to me: Something Stupid.”  He let out a hearty laugh when the girls in the crowd went wild.
He hoped she was here tonight.
“I know I stand in line
Until you think you have the time
To spend an evening with me”
Luka closed his eyes, remembering the warmth of someone’s hand intertwined with his own from many years ago.
“And if we go some place to dance
I know that there's a chance
You won't be leaving with me.”
He could hear her giggles and laughter as he would twirl her around during the school dance and parties they would go to, taking in the moments and savoring the time spent together...
“Then afterwards we drop into a quiet little place
And have a drink or two.”
He would remember the hours they would spend sitting by the Seine or at a nearby cafe as they would share a shake or two.
Listening to her rambles about her latest project or her rants about the girl that got under her skin.
Sometimes, they would sit at the edge of the Eiffel Tower, her shoulder leaned against his as she would dangle her feet 906 feet above the air.
“And then I go and spoil it all
By saying somethin' stupid like, "I love you.”
I can see it in your eyes
That you despise the same old lies
You heard the night before”
“Luka, you say that every time.” She would say with a giggle before promptly pecking his cheek.
“And though it's just a line to you
For me it's true
And never seemed so right before”
“But I mean it.” He would answer back, feeling himself melt when she would stare at him with stars in her eyes and a blush appear across her freckled peppered skin.
“I practice every day
To find some clever lines to say
To make the meaning come true.”
He enjoyed watching her face flush every time he would call her his ‘Melody’ in front of her friends, calling her his muse and just right complimenting her in every little thing she did.
“But then I think I'll wait
Until the evening gets late
And I'm alone with you.”
While he knew his flirting was excess, he made sure to tone it down when they were alone and relished in just being there with her. To take in her every word, to analyze her every gesture as he knew she rarely had time to spend time together, nonetheless have time for herself.
And because of that, he dedicated his everything to let her know that he was there for her. That he will always be there for her, no matter what.
Even when she still had a crush on Adrien while they dated.
Even when they got back together years later

“The time is right, your perfume fills my head
The stars get red, and, oh, the night's so blue.”
But of course, not everything works out.
“And then I go and spoil it all
By saying somethin' stupid like, ‘I love you.’ “
“Luka, I’m sorry- it’s just not
let’s break up.”
“The time is right, your perfume fills my head
The stars get red, and, oh, the night's so blue.
And then I go and spoil it all
By saying somethin' stupid like, ‘I love you.’
I love you
I love you
I love you
I love you.” Luka finished, opening his eyes to meet the raging crowd, his eyes instantly meeting bluebell ones.
He felt the world stand still for a second as the crowd’s cheering went mute, his breath hitching when his heart recognized the girl his eyes landed on.
She’s here.
-
While she was wearing all black attire save for the black and blue merchandise she had on, there was no doubt that the person Luka locked eyes with was Beetle.
Tim tapped Bruce on hand, turning to look at him as he lowered his glasses. Glad he updated the software on them and brought them with him. Otherwise, he would’ve struggled with seeing everyone’s face from far away.
“She’s here. She actually came.”
“Let’s wait for them to talk.” Bruce told him, fixing the cuff of his jacket. “We’ll go in afterwards.”
Tim nodded, slipping his glasses back on. A second later, they gave him an alert, his heart stopping when he read the warning.
“Bruce,” he didn’t turn to face his mentor. He didn’t want to see the reaction he would have upon telling him the news. “Jason’s here too.”
-
Luka asked Sass to guide her to his dressing room after their show, to which Sass gladly complied. It’s been a while since he’s seen his wielder this elated after all.
Luka paced a bit around his dressing room when he heard a knock at his door followed by the twist at the doorknob.
He stared at Marinette and suddenly found himself returning to when they were 15 years old and had no problems in the world.
He could feel the butterflies flutter in his stomach as he watched Marinette approach him.
“Hey.” She weakly spoke, making him snap back to reality.
“Hey yourself. You don’t sound so good.” He only then noticed the slight sinking of her eyes and the dark circles under them. Judging from the oiliness of her hair, he presumed she hasn’t been taking care of herself as well as she used to.
But aside from that, it felt like they had just seen each other just a week ago.
She looked practically the same.
“Almost died.” She replied with a grin, giggling when Luka frowned. “Keyword: almost.”
“You have to take better care of yourself, Melody.” He softly reminded her, tucking a hair behind her ear, only for it to slip off again. He missed her long hair

“Luka.” Marinette sternly said, pushing his hand away. “We’re not-“
“Can’t I be concerned about you, as a friend?”
“We both know that can never be the case...”
A tense silence filled the room, Marinette wondering why she ever thought it was a good idea to ask him about Adrien when-
“So, how have you been?” He asked her, cutting her thought.
“Feeling like absolute shit.” Marinette admitted, picking up an eyeliner from his vanity. “Both physically and emotionally, if you wanted to know.”
“You can always-”
“You know I can’t Luka.” Marinette opened the eyeliner, swatching it onto her hand. “Not with my current situation.”
“No one but the Temple knows you’re a Guardian Marinette. And you made sure of that.” He reminded her. “Whether they agreed to the memory wipe or not.” Marinette remained silent.
Why did he have to remind her of that? “You know you can trust-“
“This has nothing to do with me not trusting you Luka.” Marinette sighed. “I have to do this alone.”
”You don’t have to shoulder everything by yourself Marinette. I-”
”I do Luka, even if you think I shouldn’t be.” Marinette seethed. “It’s the only way to maintain peace.”
“At the cost of your sanity?” Luka questioned. “Melody.” He held her hand and placed it on his cheek. “Then why did you make me one too?”
There it was. The question that gnawed the back of her mind with guilt since it happened.
It was supposed to be a temporary role, but then Su-Han convinced her to let him stay a Guardian after the showdown

“Luka.” Marinette lowered her hand, balling her hands into fists. “You know why-“
“You told me you did it so that you can have someone to share the responsibility
yet we’re not sharing the burden. You didn’t even teach me-“
“It was a decision I had to do in case anything happened to me that night.” She admitted. “But to also protect you
I didn’t want to lose you then
”
“And what about now?” He asked, analyzing her face. “Hawkmoth’s gone, the Miraculous are safe. What are you afraid of-”
“I’m afraid of messing up again.” She confessed.
“Who isn’t?” He tried to ease up her tension, noticing her shoulders squaring up. She was sinking into herself.
“I shouldn’t be. I’m a Guardian,” She reminded him.
“You were 14 when Fu made you one.” He reminded her. “You were still a kid. You were still learning. We were still learning about what it took to be-.”
“Fu made me Guardian because he saw something in me.” Marinette started. “He saw my potential, he told me I was destined for something greater than what I was
but I’ve failed to live up to his dreams
” Marinette felt bile rise to the back of her throat. “And ever since I was made Guardian, I keep messing up.” She croaked out. “I botched Hawkmoth’s capture, I was forced to twist my own arm to erase our friend’s memories, I made you Guardian, I haven’t found Adrien-“
“You didn’t meet him in Paris?” Luka cut her off, “he told me he was going to-“
“When did he say- when- where did you meet him?” This was news to her.
He’s still out there.
“In London. Five months ago. When I performed in the Royal Albert Hall.” Luka briefly provided.
Five months ago? Wasn’t that around the time she called Felix about his whereabouts? Felix had said he wasn’t there
could he have lied about it?
Did Adrien possibly tell him to tell her that if she ever contacted him? “- after the show, he appeared in my changing room. The minute I saw him, I could tell something was off.”
What?
“Describe ‘off.’ What do you-”
“While he tried his best to try and convince me that he was fine as he talked to me about his travels, his song played a completely different tune. It was erratic, dissonant, somber but most notably
terrified.” Marinette felt her heart stop. “He constantly fiddled with Plagg’s ring but what really tipped him off was the color of his eyes.”
Luka’s mouth opened and closed as he tried to rearrange the words on the tip of his tongue. How could he soften the impact he was about to tell her?
“Luka, just spit it out.” Marinette demanded, unable to just stand there and wait.
“His sclera were a glowing toxic green
they were no longer white

Marinette
he was merging
”
Marinette froze.
He’s merging
but how? He shouldn’t be able to merge
especially in his condition.
“He’s merging?” She quietly asked. “He shouldn’t be merging- what- how is he even merging? Plagg would never allow-“ Her eyes widened. “Plagg!
Was Plagg alright? He didn’t seem exhausted, did he?” Luka pursed his lips. “Luka. I need you to answer me. Was Plagg-”
“He was well when I saw him, but he did confess one thing to me. Adrien was using him almost everyday without break.”
“Luka, that’s the opposite of okay.” Marinette reminded him, feeling her heartbeat thump louder in her ears with each breath she took. “Why would he use Plagg-”
“I think someone was following him.” Luka admitted, “And I think that’s what forced him to merge.”
“Following him?” Who could’ve been following him? No one should know that his father was Hawkmoth.
She made sure of that.
“Plagg begged me to convince Adrien to take a break as they’ve been on the run for quite some time.
Months from the way Plagg summarized their journey.”
“Oh my god.” Marinette placed her hands over her mouth, feeling tears prick the corners of her eyes.
There was only one explanation as to why someone would try to track down Adrien. After all, Hawkmoth’s identity was never exposed. That could only leave one explanation.
They know Adrien has a Miraculous. Someone is looking for the miraculi.
This is all my fault.
I didn’t hide them properly. “They know he has a Miraculous,” Marinette whispered. “I shouldn’t have let him convince me to keep his memories. Of keeping Plagg. Oh my- I should’ve erased his-”
“Marinette, you couldn’t have predicted-”
“But if I had done so from the beginning, then Adrien wouldn’t have been targeted-”
“Mari, listen to-”
“They were right.” Marinette mumbled to herself. “I wasn’t prepared for the responsibilities of what it meant to be a Guardian.
I arrogantly, childishly thought I could handle all of this my way.”
Why was it getting difficult to breathe? “I failed to follow the rules, causing Adrien to become a target of some unknown individual who knows about the Miraculi and wants it for themselves.
I failed to protect the Miraculi simply because I thought I was above the Temple’s teach-”
“Marinette!” Luka yelled, grasping her shoulders, snapping her from her thoughts but not from the anxiety that escaped her every pore. “None of this is your fault!” She pushed his hands off her.
“It is Luka! And because of my stupidity, Adrien is out there, being hunted like an animal and all he has is some stupid ring to use to defend himself!”
“Give him credit Marinette. He was Chat Noir before all this and there was no opponent he couldn’t take down.”
“But Ladybug was by his side then, I was by his side, covering his back
who’s by his side now?
Who will stop him from falling into the pits of madness?” Before Luka could try and answer her, a knock was heard against the door.
The two stared at it, hoping no one stepped in.
“Luka! You’ve got a visitor!” A staff member shouted through the door, letting the two breath for a minute.
“Give me a sec!” Luka turned his attention back towards Marinette, only to find her missing, catching a glimpse of a closing blue portal by his feet.
Not even a goodbye, huh?
Luka let out a deep breath. “Alright, let them in.”
“Wow, it’s really Luka.” Tim whispered as he stepped into the room, followed by Bruce. Luka watched as the teen remained by Bruce’s side, catching him off guard.
Most would’ve already ran up to him and asked for a photo or signature.
“I told you I’d get you to meet him tonight.” Bruce said with a smile, but Luka recognized that smile.
Years of being on tour with his father taught him many things
recognizing these types of signs being one of them

Too bad he didn’t own a croc himself
but he did have a snake.
“M.Wayne, I didn’t expect you to come tonight.” Luka responded with a smile of his own, twisting his bracelet. “Hope you enjoyed tonight’s show- oh! Come, have a seat!” Luka guided them to a makeshift lounge area in the corner of the room. “Let’s talk comfortably, shall we? If you’re not in any rush, that is.”
-
Marinette vomited into the toilet bowl, hurling out clear clumps of bile. She heaved, emptying out the last of the bile.
She grabbed some toilet paper, wiped the drool sliding down her chin and flushed the incident.
She walked out the stall, thankful to not see anyone else in the bathroom. It would’ve been a hassle if someone checked on her right now.
Marinette
are you okay? She heard Kaalki ask her. She simply nodded, making her way to the sinks as she looked at her reflection on the mirror.
She took out a pouch, deciding to touch up her makeup, carefully to ensure she doesn’t continue to worsen the already smudged eyeliner.
“Guess I can’t return this back to him now.” She told herself as she pocketed the eyeliner she took from Luka.
The minute she exited the bathroom, she felt eyes following her, causing her mind to go on high alert.
I just vomited. Can’t I get a break?
She pretended to cough into a napkin.
“Kaalki?”
Yes, Marinette?
“Help me round up some mice, will you?”
Of course! Kaalki happily agreed. Anything to help you!
-
Jason quickly found Marinette in the sea of crying teenagers and shouting adults, wondering why she would pick such an obvious spot on the floor.
He watched as Luka recognized her and through a soft smile acknowledged her presence.
The show ended without an incident, Jason following Marinette out the venue and into the woman’s bathroom. Of course, he didn’t just waltz in but stood outside making sure to vigilantly monitor who went in and out.
After ten minutes, she emerged, heading for the open house’s exit.
But one minute he was a few meters away from her and the next, he felt as if he missed a step, his vision going black as he fell and promptly fell face flat against the opera house’s back alley.
“The fuck just happened?” Jason muttered to himself as he cradled his head, a slight ringing echoing in his head as he propped himself up from the pavement.
How did she do that? When did she do that? He didn’t notice a single-
He caught a light blue sparkle from the corner of his eye, whipping head to catch a small light disappear into the night sky.
Oh
 right
that existed

Magic.
-
The three men laughed as Luka finished retelling an old tale of when he would tour with his father.
“It seems like you've gathered quite the experience of traveling frequently.” Bruce concluded.
“Nothing compares to you, M Wayne. I've heard you’ve been going to and from Paris quite often these days. I’m surprised you’re still able to keep your internal clock up and running.” Luka continued to look for any crack in Bruce’s facade. “It’s as if you’re going for a specific purpose.” He emphasized.
He caught Tim’s slight change in demeanor but Bruce continued to smile.
Luka internally sighed.
Despite being used to these types of conversations after he tagged along with his father on tours, it didn’t mean he grew to endure them.
In fact, he only grew to hate them some more. “M Wayne, I’m going to cut to the chase.
It’s late. It’s a school day. I have another tour tomorrow.
What exactly brings you here? Because I already know it’s not about me. After all, why would you ever sit down and chat with me if it was just to have Tim meet one of his favorite singers?”
He watched as Tim squared his shoulders and glanced at Bruce. “So, what’s your answer M Wayne?”
Luka didn’t think Bruce would drop his act so fast upon his true intention being revealed.
“Seeing as you’ve already-“
“Actually, let me give you a warning.” Luka sighed, running a hand through his hair, Tim noticing fresh cuts and a bruise suddenly appearing on it.
What was going on? “I suggest you stop looking for Marinette.”
He couldn’t help but internally grin when he noticed Bruce’s eyes slightly panicked before he composed himself.
“Luka, I’m not sure what-“
“Do not test me M.Wayne.” Luka growled standing from his seat. “I’ve been a villain before, it would not take much for me to become one again if it meant keeping you away from Marinette. So again,”
Tim and Bruce watched as Luka’s eye burned a bright teal aura, his pupils shrinking into thin lines. “Leave Marinette alone or I will be the one hunting you down.”
-
Victor sighed as he stood in front of Marinette’s makeshift room, his hand hovering over the doorknob.
While he knew she could handle herself, a part of him wanted to make sure she didn’t need medical attention after her-
A thud came from the other side of the door, Victor opening it without a second thought.
He saw Marinette laying on the floor, attempting to get up.
He knelt near her and helped her sit up.
He didn’t ask her any questions the minute he saw her tear drenched face.
Instead, he helped her climb into bed, tucking her in as she instantly fell asleep.
He pushed her hair away from her face, flinching when she started to cry in her dreams.
“What’s going on, Marinette?”
-
Bruce didn’t expect for this encounter to go the complete opposite direction of what he thought it would go.
He was supposed to come and chat with Luka and bring up Marinette somewhere down the line.
He wasn’t expecting him to bring her up himself- rather, how did Luka figure that out?
The entire night, he believed Luka was anxious as the man constantly played with his bracelet.
Every few minutes he would shift the silver snake head across his wrist, listening as it grated across the chain.
He didn’t expect to be face to face with a man ready to fight him on the spot.
Luka was only a musician and had no previous history of knowing any type of defense nor offense.
While he had a high reading of magic, Bruce only believed it to be related to having dated Marinette in the past as he couldn’t find any evidence of Luka being a vigilante in Paris all those years ago.
Then again, he couldn’t find much on Marinette when she first came to the Justice League’s front door either.
“So tell me, M .Wayne.” Luka’s pupils returned to their normal rounded shape, the glow in his eyes fading. “Do I have your word that you will stop looking for Marinette?”
As if he had any other choice.
“You have my word.” He promised.
“Good.” Luka sat back down. “To ensure you’re going to keep your end of the deal-”
“Wait, Bruce. You can’t just let him-” Tim started only to be silenced when Luka’s eyes turned bright teal again.
“Tim.” Bruce looked at the teen, hoping he got the message.
Don’t fight him.
“As I was saying,” Luka huffed. “I need you to bring someone to me.”
Now that was interesting. Who will he ask for?
If Luka knew Marinette and was aware of her goal, then surely it had to be A- “I need you to bring me John Constantine.”

FIC: "Of Kwamis, Soulmates, and Idiots" ch2 (MLB; Lukanette)
Notes: I was struggling with this one, guys. If I had just sat on the initial prompt it probably all could have gone up in one go, but after that month I was a little (lot) burnt out and kept building this up as more than it had to be? I kept thinking there needed to be some kind of big Plot & Substance, but sometimes you just need a little bit of shits and giggles, right? Anyway. I think it’s as done as it’s gonna get, at least for now. đŸ–€
Marinette had hated to leave practice, but to be fair
it wasn’t actually her band practicing. She could barely play a handful of notes on the flute, and she highly doubted a group as rock-n-roll as Kitty Section would be interested in having something as dorky as a flute in their band. So when her maman had texted her asking if she could come home early — along with an apology, but they had an unexpected rush, her papa was busy with a big order for the next day, and they could really use the help — well
it just seemed obvious.
She hadn’t missed the way Luka’s eyes had followed her as she grabbed her bag and rushed off with a harried excuse, but that was just Luka being Luka. He was kind like that. Still, she was sure Tikki would give her plenty of grief over it later.
Tikki was also kind like that.
Her bag had been left unattended and almost forgotten in the back of the house once she had gotten home. She had tossed it by the door that led up to their family flat as soon as she had run in, only sparing enough thought to make sure it was safely out of the way before grabbing her apron and moving to help her papa fill macarons.

"Alya/All of Marinettes friends forces her to do things she doesnt want to do!""
Cuz if they didnt push her to do shit she'll never god damn fucking do it cuz shes honestly kind of a spaz, and she rather avoid things then deal with it and obviously doing that never works in her favor cuz it leaves her to stress over it and then her anxiety spikes and then it makes her even MORE erratic.
With Adrien, she desperately wants to confess and her friends keep trying to help her cuz they know if they dont she'll NEVER do it and then she'll be understandably depressed about it, and with Luka she was deadass just gonna ignore him for who knows how long until they[the class] managed to get her to damn talk to him.
Like damn. Not everything is against Marinette, sometimes you gotta do shit you dont wanna do so you can THROUGH it and stop worrying, she worries too much and that makes her spiral and then she messes up a lot and then when she messes up she gets even more stressed. Its an unending cycle.
I think Class salt is ridiculously stupid cuz its ALLL by people who think Marinette is either this perfect child whos always being wronged by the people around her or its people thinking way too damn hard, like bruh. Marinettes not angsting about it, she could clearly stop them if she was truly that messed up about it but they give her enough confidence to AT LEAST attempt. Thats why Alya does that shit cuz she knows her bff wont even attempt if theres room to mess up.

mlb fandom on instagram grates on my nerves so bad with their shitty takes and idk how to block the bad bits.
(will there ever be an end to this rage!?)
takes i’ve seen so far:
kagami deserves adrien more than marinette does (i’m not saying marinette deserves him more or anything, but on what grounds can you say kagami deserves him more??)
marinette’s crush is obsessive. (hate to break it to you but so is chat/adrien’s on ladybug...)
marinette deserves the isolation, her crush on adrien was creepy anyway (what le fuck, nothing excuses bullying, why do some people think marinette’s feelings for adrien are reason enough for her to be getting bullied or isolated!?)
adrien is spineless (he isn’t spineless he is a misinformed kid with a really shitty and abusive parent who has lead him to believe and constantly reaffirmed that confrontation doesn’t lead to anything good through his own actions. AND HE’S ONLY 15 FOR FUCKS SAKE)
marinette isn’t being a good friend to kagami. (EXCUSE ME? if anything i’d argue in the reverse because while it’s not wrong to try and date someone your friend is crushing on ( i mean i wouldn’t do it ever, because that shit hurts), there are better ways. i really didn’t like that she talked to ladybug about it but not to marinette. she should’ve talked to marinette, not seeking permission, of course not. but just talked about it. especially after the whole thing on the bridge. marinette isn’t a bad friend just for being hurt that the guy she has a crush on is on a date with someone else.)
kagami is being petty. (no? she’s just a kid who doesn’t do friendships and yeah, i do think she wasn’t being a very good friend to marinette (and not because she’s trying to date adrien, ok? people can date whoever the fuck they want) maybe she shouldn’t be upset that adrien wasn’t ready to kiss her, but they’re all kids man. yeah she should’ve been more... sensitive??? to marinette’s feelings, but it wasn’t her being petty, she doesn’t do friendships, she didn’t know better, ok.)
chat is harassing ladybug. (no he isn’t. chat is emulating anime which was his only exposure. he’s just a dumbass. yes he’s thrown a tantrum about his feelings not being reciprocated, but ladybug keeps him in line, and she clearly enjoys their banter and takes him down a notch whenever he goes overboard.) in conclusion, here’s one for the essay no one asked for:
all characters are flawed, literally none of them are perfect. not even adrien. neither marinette. nor alya, nino, kagami. that’s one of the things that makes the show so fun. they’re all dumbasses.
its ok to dislike characters, but when you do, keep out of the content related to said characters and don’t shit on content creators who do like them.
some of my opinions, i know are conflicted and it is what it is. (yes, i like kagami’s character. no i don’t like adrigami. i also don’t like the whole deal with kagami-marinette right now, because in my honest opinion, if the writers wanted to have chat and marinette move on from their crushes, it shouldn’t have been to someone else, i am just not a fan of the idea that you just gotta have a crush on someone if not x person. it would’ve been better if they kept their romantic feelings aside to be a better friend to each without someone else entering the picture, be it for luka or marinette. *tells self to shut up because that’s another essay*)
ship and let ship. stay on your own ships if you don’t like someone else’s, no need to pro-actively try to sink their ship. (like. i’m not a fan of adrigami (for soooo many reasons, maybe i’ll do another essay no one asked for at some point), but its fine if you are, just don’t come onto my adrinette or lukanette content to start saying shit.)
they’re just kids.
but for real, if someone can tell me how i can get rid of the annoying ones on insta from my explore page, i’d be glad. [ blocking doesn’t work, i’m tryna get rid of a specific type of content, ya know? ]

LIKEKE
if Marinette goes back to liking Adrien in the next ep and completely forgetting about Luka, I will be so disappointed.
