another deltarune theory

but like

has anyone considered that asgore, the mayor, kris, dess, etc

any lightner associated with the knight and deltarune

is just part of a cult? and not like the religious organization thing we saw in ch 4. but like an actual cult vibes where they 100% believe in this prophecy (despite not knowing it 100% because said prophecy has been lost to time) and their belief if why the knight exists

why the dark world exists and why its so tied to a prophecy

like what if everything is just because of this magic cult believing this is like their salvation or something idk

everyone's talking about how the secret bosses are related to freedom but like... arent they also related to being lost/loss in general too?

exhibit a: jevil -obviously lost from the world as a whole and exists in his own space. also the joker card- one of the most commonly lost cards bc its irrelevant for most card games. lost his sanity and identity lowkey (like who was jevil before he became that)

exhibit b: spamton- lost his career, lost his identity as an addison. spam mail is often where things gets lost in all the rubble. lives in a literal trash heap where he's lost and like you kinda need to get lost in the first place to find him. also lost his identity (is alluded to be a former addison but is now not)

exhibit c: the knight -alluding to The Lost Girl Dess. they come when you lose tenna (bc they killed them) like idk what else more i have to say to that (literally lost identity is knight is dess and even then there is no before for the knight so same as the last two)

exhibit d: gerson- i mean you first find him because you get lost in the dark world and he helps you find the way out yk. he's dead so he's like lost from the light world permanently. you lose him again when susie opens her dark world. except he's also an exception to the other secret bosses because he comes back to himself by the end of the chapter. he reclaims his relationship with his son and gives a bit of himself back to alvin and susie

A quick theory on Shadowcrystals

We're told that the Shadow Crystals grant some sort of power:

But we never quite get a good idea of what combat advantage, if any, the crystals offer.

But I actually think we do. I propose that the Shadow Crystals are what allow you to do a "Neo Attack", or more commonly referred to as a fullscreen attack. Y'know, Jevil's True and Neo Chaos, Spamton's Power of Neo, and the Knight's Roaring attack.

This would explain why Gerson does not have a fullscreen attack- he doesn't use his crystal, he says so himself:

And this also potentially explains why the Knight drops a shadowcrystal on defeat, despite presumably not wanting to give it to us. They drop it because they were just using it, since they had just called upon its power to use a neo attack.

The narration warning you about the fullscreen attack draws special attention to the Knight's hands. Why? Because their Shadowcrystal is in their hand and they're channeling its power. It's no wonder that they dropped it after Susie clashed with them- it must've still been in their grasp!
