Lucifer

Lucifer sighed as he turned down the final hall of their home. Why did the House of Lamentation have to have so many hallways?

He had been in a very long meeting with Lord Diavolo. Discussing current events in the Devildom, the school, and of course the exchange program. His prince was always interested in how the selected were doing. And although Lucifer didn’t really care how the angels or Solomon were doing, he could report that [Y/N] was doing very well.

Reaching his room, he opened the door and shrugged off his cloak. Feeling a metaphorical weight come off, along with the real one, as it slumped to the floor.

He was on his way to change and take a shower when he noticed someone on his bed. It was [Y/N]. Of course it was. No one else would dare enter his room if he wasn’t there. They must have come in and waited to surprise him, but he had arrived too late.

A soft smile, a mix of heart warming and sad, came to his face as he looked at them. He then came over and pet their hair. “It’s good to see you too, my love. I’ll be right back.”

[Y/N] didn’t wake up as he spoke, but did move a little in some sort of unconscious acknowledgement. He then continued on with the task of showering and changing. Maybe he was working a little too hard afterall.

Mammon

“Ouch!” Mammon cursed as he bounced off one of the walls.

Another successful night of debauchery for the scummiest brother. Gambling, drinking, cruising hot demons at the club, more drinking. He’d finally reached his fill (or more to the point: puked) and decided to go home. Because despite what his credit card statements said he could not, in fact, live in the club.

He finally made it into his room. Immediately starting to strip out of his clothes. Leaving a trail from the door to his bed. He got down to his shorts just as he was about to swan dive in, when he noticed [Y/N] there. He was surprised, then trying to think of why they were there. His alcohol soaked brain tried to think of something, but the only thing he could think of was that they had waited for him.

Suddenly his stomach felt heavy; and not just from the impending nausea. [Y/N] had been waiting for him. For what, he didn’t know, and it really didn’t matter. They had waited for him. And he had been out drinking and gambling with a bunch of losers, who didn’t even care enough to hold up his head when he got sick.

Mammon suddenly felt like actually the scummiest brother, then turned to head towards the couch. Besides the fact that he stunk, which didn’t matter to him but might to [Y/N], he didn’t feel he deserved to sleep next to them and slept on the couch.

He woke up the next morning to [Y/N] petting his head and asking if he was alright. He then decided he wasn’t going to the club anymore. He didn’t need it.

Levi

“I got it! I got it! I got it! I got it!” Levi cheerfully chanted as he ran up the stairs and towards his room.

He had been at the midnight release of his new game, Paradox Spheres. A muti-level, muti-dimension, multi-timeline RPG game where the main character travels through rips in time & space to save the universe. He had to have it.

Levi had been camping out since lunch, like any good otaku, to get a good spot for the release. His hours of waiting, then hours of waiting in the queue up, finally paying off when he got one! Number 134 was always a lucky number for him.

“[Y/N]! I got it! I got it!” The demon exclaimed as he burst through the door. Holding his new game up like a trophy.

His enthusiasm, however, was not matched as he found [Y/N] asleep on his bed. The real one, not his bathtub.

Levi moved to check his watch and see how late it was. He’d gotten the game, but at what cost? [Y/N] was understandably out just waiting for him to come back. Not here to revel in the joy with him.

The demon sighed and placed his game on his dresser. He didn’t want to play it anymore. Without [Y/N] it wasn’t fun anymore.

He instead booted up one of his older games to play that. He wasn’t tired. Being a seasoned otaku, and running on game grab adrenaline, this time of night was nothing to him. He would just have to wait until [Y/N] woke up to start his new game.

Satan

The sound of pages turning filled the room as Satan furiously read page after page.

He had planned to go to bed a while ago, telling [Y/N] he would be there in a minute, but just after that he had reached a very interesting part in his book and couldn’t stop. Satan had to see how it ended otherwise he would be plague with regret and anxiety on what could happen all night.

Finally, he reached the end with a satisfying conclusion. Closed the book. Then leaned back with a contented sigh. If only for a moment.

“Shit.” He cursed as he realized how late it was and rushed to his room.

It was too late though. [Y/N] was already asleep. Clearly reading on their own to try and stay away before sleep took them. Satan felt bad. He had promised he would be up soon and broke it. Leaving them alone and waiting for him all evening.

Carefully coming over to the bed, Satan picked up their book and placed a crisp, new bookmark in their place before he moved them over a little and slide in beside them. “I’m sorry dearest.” He apologized before kissing their forehead. Surely they would understand it was a good book though.

Asmo

“Annnnd…done!” Asmo let out a little giggle as he finished his skin care regiment for the night and bounced off to bed. “Ok [Y/N]~! I’m ready to snuggle up and….” The demon’s cheerfulness waned when they saw that [Y/N] was a sleep on the bed. Looking like an angel he would know.

Asmo pouted seeing them asleep. He thought they would wait up for him, so they could gab and do…other stuff. His skin care regiment was only 21 steps. Surely they could wait up for him to be done with that!?

Being petty, Asmo walked over to the other side of the bed and flopped down. Intentionally being forceful and loud as possible with his tuck in process to hopefully wake them. They did not. He pouted again and rolled over to get some sleep. Good thing he used his advanced anti-wrinkle cream on his mouth & brow tonight.

Beelzebub

Beel hit his stopwatch as he came back to the front gate and gave a little cheer. A new personal best.

He hadn’t been able to sleep, or felt like he was going to be able to get to sleep, while he and [Y/N] were getting ready for bed. So, he decided to go for a run. [Y/N] told him that was ok, and they would wait up for him, but he told them it was ok if they didn’t.

Making his way upstairs, two at a time, Beel came into the room quietly and sure enough, [Y/N] was asleep. He didn’t feel bad that they hadn’t stayed up. He wasn’t sure how long he was going to run for, when he would be back, and he knew that they had been sleepy when he left. It was his problem he couldn’t sleep, not theirs.

Beel came over and kissed the top of their head before he went to get some new pajamas to change into. He was obviously sweaty now, so he needed a shower.

When he got back he curled up with [Y/N] and immediately went to sleep. Finally tired, and contented to be with [Y/N].

Belphie

He’d woken up from one of his naps in the middle of studying to find [Y/N], still working, before he got up and announced, “I need some water.” His mouth was very dry.

Belphie heard their response, which sounded tired if he was paying attention, before he went downstairs to get said water. By the time he came back, all the way up in the attic, [Y/N] had fallen asleep. Their pen still in their hand.

The demon paused and observed the situation for a moment. This was an odd experience for him. Usually, people walked in on him asleep. Not the other way around.

Belphie smiled at being on the other side for once and crawled into bed. “[Y/N], move over.” He urged. Gently pushing them to make space, but also put them in the position he wanted to lay down. He then curled up with [Y/N], smelling their hair, and immediately fell asleep like usual. This was a very nice surprise.

✧ . a perfect transition from brat summer, playing on a heavy edm sound that is rather new to the group

✧ . when asked about the more experimental songs on the album, sunnie said that with the creative control they're given, the group is always looking for ways to challenge themselves and push the bounds of typical kpop

✧ . lucky has always been known for pushing boundaries in the industry, and their second full album is no exception

✧ . while each member was dressed in relatively racy outfits, especially for BOOM! stages, one of hiro's Stellar outfits took the internet by storm, wearing a tight cut-out top that revealed some under-boob

✧ . the song was only supposed to promote for 2 weeks after BOOM!'s 3 week promotional period, but another week was added after its rise in popularity

✧ . hiro told W Korea that she thought Stellar should have been the title track, but she was outvoted by the production team and that a new remix of the song is in the works

✧ . when asked what songs on the album were their favorites, sunnie chose SourSweet, angel chose JAM, hiro chose Take Off, and han chose Stellar

Before anyone gets too excited, this update is primarily for bug fixes. Hopefully if I push this out early enough, people’s browsers will be more likely to show the bug fixes before the next update to Chapter 2. (Don't hold your breath there)

Obligatory ShB spoiler warning.

First off, the two panels that took a silly amount of time just because I wanted to reflect Vivi’s impressions on the city.

Episodes 18, 19, 20 open up with Vivi being concerned with the most pressing matters:

Can’t fight if you ain’t pretty (or got just 1-2 outfits to be pretty in, that won’t do either)

I still really like the panel above, especially their pose. Episodes 19-22 show how they gradually get rid of physical boundaries. They didn’t even touch back when they first met (episode 15).

Vivi’s casual about physical affection with friends, just one of his core things.

Of course Vivi would trust and choose the company of a pixie, a supernatural being, over a (presumably) human who only reinforces Vivi’s worst opinions on humanity at that point in time, concealing himself and swimming in secrets. Get rekt nerd.

At least Vivi isn’t openly hostile, just.. Dismissive? I saw some other WoLs who outright hate Exarch for abducting the Scions and almost getting themselves, the WoL, killed at Ghimlyt Dark. Vivi, however, just wants to be left alone.

Tfw the love of your life is being stolen by your dear friend. Or vice versa? Or both at the same time? Anyway, Vivi and Feo Ul form a new cool kids' club and Exarch isn't invited.

Can't relax in your favorite secluded spot for a godsdamned moment without some pesky dragoon randomly popping out of nowhere.

While I hc Exarch being able to sense living presence around the Tower, imagine doing that 24/7 for every person. I like to think that he learned to filter it out, turn off/on at will. And while he's in a public place, with his glamour up, he doesn't need to upkeep the "radar", he's just chilling and is possibly lost in thoughts, and that's why Vivi startles him.

This scene bears more symbolic meaning than plot importance. And, uh, some foreshadowing? Forelighting? x'D While Vivi doesn’t fall (heh) for his savior, he’ll reflect upon this at a later time.

Vivi’s normally careful and stately. Yes he’s an elf but he do be carryin’ himself like a cat. There’s a lot of control and assertion behind his trademark nonchalant posture. So, NORMALLY, this wouldn’t happen. Maybe he got distracted by the shiny? And where’s Feo Ul?

Exarch, however, the man that chokes on air unprompted, in a moment like this acts before he could think. As some people correctly noted, the old man’s QUICK. The “screentime” stretches out as Vivi’s life almost begins flashing before his eyes, while for Exarch it's gotta be a mere second or two.

I’m extra proud of the colorwork here. As if blood’s gone from Vivi’s face, as if his entire body went cold, but life slowly returns to him, starting with that hand. You bet this’s brimming with subtext.

Exarch uses his left hand over the right, for better friction and probably because he doesn’t like the attention to his right hand.

I like that this panel’s caused confusion, it worked as intended :9 An all too vague dark joke that almost cost Vivi his life. In his head it went like “yeah anyone can fly once, when they’re about to go splat”, but he wasn’t only preoccupied with the jumps, but also didn’t KNOW yet that he HAS TO speak with a fae like almost with a child, or a lawyer. Simplest terms. No ambiguity. EVER. They’ll misinterpret you unwittingly, or on purpose.

And so they did. Or didn’t? Feo Ul’s spent a long time offscreen, but whether they chose not to help, or even gave Vivi a little push, will forever stay a mystery because why not.

Lesson learned.. On both sides.. Hopefully. Also, fret not, Exarch WILL say fuck one day, one day~

Vivi's lucky. Incredibly so. He's aware of it, doesn't see it as anything special, like you don't see anything special in being able to read this. Perhaps jumping up an unknown structure while being accompanied by an exceedingly curious and mischievous creature is risky even for his kind, but Vivi's so used to getting away with so many things that he doesn't stop to consider it for the tiniest moment.

The first genuine exchange of smiles.

Silver lining: now they have better chances at getting along and returning to that world-saving duty.

Update from January 2024: I came back here to tell you something that took me so long to realize about episode 20′s description:

I randomly popped off with this prose, which on itself is a cool thing, but now I realize the extra meanings it could take on. Thinking about 5.x and Elidibus has me feeling unwell in the best way. THAT VIVI ALSO WEARS WHITE HERE IS UH. A coincidence. But it also kinda works as the Warrior of Darkness becomes somewhat of a local Reaper in the First, and then, well, then we have that Light corruption arc :3c

Vivi's calm and tender enough for a pixie to trust him with their wings.

Feo Ul ate and drank several times their size, and all that hero talk.. Ugh. Time for a nap.

Drawing this made me yawn at least 3 times. You’re not immune either.

He’s activating his scanners :>

Vivi's definition of nice is "not nagging, begging or preaching, and using bare facts and logic to convince the hero to do the hero thing".

Literally the next page if you’re reading in order :’> Riiiiiiiiight. That hero thing.

We don’t question whether Vivi invited his loveliest branch, or if they invited themselves. The fact is, they’re there and Vivi’s totally cool with it.

Exarch must be watching. And probably foaming at mouth as Feo Ul keeps leading in the race for Vivi’s heart. They don’t only earn the hero’s trust, but get in his bed and, gasp, brush his hair.

A writing-related tangent incoming, but, since you’re here, I assume you’re already somewhat interested in this kinda stuff.

So, there’s the script, the plain text that waits to get illustrated. The screenplay, if you will. I don’t just sit down and draw enough random things to fill a few pages, I approach this as an actual cohesive serialized story.

I changed a good half of this episode when I began storyboarding it. In the initial script from some months ago, Vivi said "I slept so well". Something about this didn't sit right with me. It’s the most basic mistake of telling instead of showing. I asked myself, would he, a person who takes good sleep and dreams for granted, say that out loud? Nah. I removed that bit, and drew him stretching deliciously. He also asked Feo Ul if they guarded his dreams, they smiled vaguely but warmly just like in the finalized version, but then Vivi simply muttered "I could get used to this" and gave them headpats. I decided to elevate this scene by adding this tiny rollercoaster, which brought Feo Ul's greyness to the forefront, and thickly hinted that Vivi doesn't only sleep well, but has nice dreams that he probably starts cherishing after this.

To be fair, this isn’t super important for the main plot, I just wanted to highlight the difference between Vivi and Exarch, the latter being in a hate-hate relationship with sleep. Vivi’s affinity with dreams is a door I like to keep open for the possible future story (talking post-EW events).

Now you know this’s the face they make before going apeshit.

Imagine if this prank didn't exist and instead Vivi simply said "I slept so well, this's so important to me". I’m proud of the writing muscle I’m growing on the fly ;w;

Ardbert's chance to act and feel normal, thwarted in the next few seconds.

I'm so glad that people are picking up on this!! “Hey man” is Vivi’s way of providing whatever comfort he could. An illusion of normalcy. He’s emotionally intelligent when it matters.

..But he should’ve also considered that Feo Ul can and will ruin the vibe :’>

Another screenwriting thing: this episode lacks an establishing shot, i.e. the obligatory zoomed out view on everyone in the room, but I think this’s a rare case of “less is more”. Along with the light vs shadow, it reinforces the feeling of separation. Vivi and Feo Ul are shown together, interacting, doing cute stuff, while Ardbert’s alone. Sorry not sorry for the hurty :’>

This’s all I’ve got for now. Thanks for reading and paying so much attention! People start to notice and analyze the things I’m weaving in, and it’s the best kinda interaction I as a creator could wish for.

What the hell.

Not in a bad way, of course, more in amazement. He can't fathom how a human can even manage so many sports at the same time.

He can barely survive in PE class while you're out here participating in multiple sports related activities.

He can’t say that he doesn’t admire you for it, whether you do it as a hobby or because you want to be a professional athlete, he finds your drive part of your many amazing qualities.

Sometimes you even motivate him to become better at PE! Especially if you’re in the same class, he can’t be caught failing in front of his crush, can he?

If you participate in any competitions, tournaments, etc. expect him to show up to support you, occasionally he might be with one of the tweels to help cheer you on.

You could be in a basketball competition with a trio of tall (and scary) mermen sitting with the audience. Normally people would be intimidated by them since they’re the infamous Octavinelle trio, but seeing them happily cheer you on would be a sight for sore eyes.

He’d be the first to greet your after your game, congratulating and praising you whether you won or lost. He’d just be so supportive of you :)

If you lost, he’d comfort you with some Monstro Lounge food on the house, same thing to celebrate if you win.

Jade Leech !!

He’d be very impressed with you, but you can’t really tell since he has his customer service smile 24/7.

Merfolk are generally stronger than regular humans since their muscles are trained for swimming, so seeing you accomplish things that merfolk can do as a human makes him curious about you.

I think he’d see you for the first time when he was attending one of Floyd’s basketball game, another game was playing before his and you were on the team.

He watched you play in order to pass time until Floyd’s game. Jade isn’t that interest in sports, preferring more peaceful activities like his mountain climbing, but something about watching you play piqued his interest.

C - clubs:

What clubs are they in? Did they perhaps form their own club?

no matter how dangerous it is, Alev is a member of the science club! he's trying to get better and chose this club to gain experience (and also because there's such a kind Trey-senpai from his dorm, lol) Alev has one feature — the super-attentiveness mode. at the moment of supreme interest, he becomes very focused and absolutely does not make any mistakes! those who know about it are waiting for this moment and sometimes it happens in the club. but in general, failures also happen, so there is tension, lol (but probably Rook is even glad when Alev comes)

B - bonds:

Who they get along with the best? Is there someone they can't stand? What are their relationship with their family?

Alev's best friend is Shishio (@oya-oya-okay 's OC) they have been roommates for two years now and are used to each other's characters. If Shishio hadn't been around, Alev would have felt pretty lonely, which would have surprised him.

Alev is generally friendly with everyone, but from the dorm he is closer to Trey, and in class with Ruggie and he likes Jade.

he has a difficult relationship with Vil, they are both tense, but calm, as they are both not in the mood for conflict. they get along and don't get along at the same time.

Alev also finds it difficult to communicate with Leona and Lilia, because he does not know how to behave with those who behave more mature (he feels silly lol)

ABOUT ALEVTIN EUCHRE'S FAMILY

as a child, Alev's parents divorced, so now he lives with his own mother, stepfather, older stepbrother and younger sister (who was born after the marriage of his mother and stepfather). despite the divorce, Alev has a very trusting and warm relationship with his own father, when things are more tense with his mother. when his mother remarried, she took a new surname, so Alev was the only one left Euchre (which made him feel superfluous.).

at first it was hard for him to get used to his new family, but now they have a better relationship. Alev is close to his stepbrother and loves his little sister. his relationship with his mother is still a little strained, and he considers his stepfather just a good man.

D - dream:

What does their happy dream from book 7 look like? Do they need help in order to wake up or realise that something is off by themselves?

Alev's happy dream, no matter how obvious it may be, is eternal luck!

he is lucky in any business that he will not take up, everyone loves, respects and adores him. no one will find him awkward and useless, everyone will call Alev for help, because only he can cope with anything! he is always cheerful and absolutely confident in himself.

I think if they try to convince him that this is all a dream, and that he is actually in danger, Alev will just be

7 weeks later...

Summer was coming to an end and I was back where it all started. At my grandparents.🤷‍♀️ My grandparents were abroad on summer vacation, just like my parents. I’ve been here alone for over 5 weeks. Slowly I’ve been feeling lonely... I spent the rest of the summer mostly with Sandra. S. was a great support for me.

She was my best friend and still, our friendship has become even stronger this summer. 🌼💛This was the one positive thing I wanted to remember. Everything else that happened, I just wanted to forget.

Daniel broke up with me 7weeks ago. He didn’t want me anymore.💔 He asked me to leave and since I was pregnant anyway, with N.'s Baby, I did what he asked of me. I was so devastated afterwards. I also missed my Cat, my little Lucky.😿 😿

I would have been willing to continue our marriage. I loved him so much. 😢He was in the first position for me, but somehow this felt wrong. My Baby should come first, not D. But I didn’t want to upset him, so I couldn’t talk to him about my pregnancy, without fighting. We also ended up having a lot of arguments about Irma and that damn house. I wanted Daniel to be honest with me, but.... Idk? He didn't want to talk, he was constantly mad... I haven’t contacted him since I left our apartment 7 weeks ago. Since that day I expected to get back the divorce documents signed by D., but so far..... nothing came back from him. 🤷‍♀️

Now to Nico. N. flew back to Italy, while I was with Daniel.😞... Another club wanted to take him over and pay him a.....nice sum for the change. But N. was under contract with the Italians for another year, so he flew to Italy, to his manager, to settle this matter with them. I really hoped, N. could get out of the contract and change to that new club. Bcs that would be here in Germany. So he could stay with me for the entire pregnancy. Nevertheless, the situation between him and me was still unclear. We were not together and he had been in Italy for weeks. We only spoke on the phone once a week. Mostly about soccer, his future/career and when he'll be back home. What didn’t mean, that I expected Nico to leave everything and come back to me.

But now 7 weeks later, it was time. It was the end of August. N. was finally home. We had a date tonight. I couldn’t wait to see him again. I was so excited. I was hoping we would get together, as it was, before Daniel came back. After all, I loved him too and we’ll soon have a Baby together.... Let's see, if he still wants me?? 😟

Also, Daniel will come to me, one more time, to talk about the divorce. His timing just..... sucks, again. Yk? 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Febuwhump day 3: "bite down on this"

Whumpee: Time

Whump Rating: 7/10

TWs: blood & violence, delirium, resetting bones, passing out

Most of the time, when the Chain got involved in battles along the path, they all escaped with minor injuries, if any. If they were unlucky, then maybe someone had gotten knocked in the head or hit with a stray arrow.

Today, they were very unlucky.

Well, that might be generalizing things. Today, Time was very unlucky. The others escaped unscathed, save for Hyrule who had overexerted his magic during the fight and was now unconscious. But even he was barely injured.

Time, on the other hand, was actively bleeding out.

It was a lucky shot. One of Wild’s Moblins, with their comically large battering rams, had stuck up on Time while he was distracted with a Darknut. By the time he realized, it was already too late. He dodged nevertheless, the club barely missing his chest (the intended target) as it crushed his right arm against a tree. The force of the impact tossed him back as well, head slamming against the very same tree. It had all gotten fuzzy after that– Time vaguely remembered collapsing as someone stepped in to defend him. And then-

…well, he wasn’t sure. Now he was staring up at the sky, blurred faces hovering in his field of view. They were speaking, but it was difficult to make out full sentences with how floaty he felt.

“...you think…”

“...s he awake…”

“...no potions…”

“...shattered…”

“...losing blood…”

One of them leaned over him– royal blue– and started saying something. Time dazedly stared, struggling to understand even a single word.

He jerked suddenly, gasping with desperation as his arm was jostled. He ground his teeth down, breathing in short, huffy gasps.

Then, cutting through the static with sudden clarity: “Bite down on this.” Time’s jaw was pried open, a thick piece of leather shoved between his teeth. It tasted like dirt and salt, the tough leather providing him with something to sink his teeth into.

As another unintelligible voice spoke to him, Time frowned. Something was very wrong; even in this state, he knew something was about to happen. Gentle hands grabbed onto his arm, the most careful touches akin to fire on his skin.

His arm was jerked back suddenly, a horrid crack resounding through the air.

Time screamed.

His eyes– both of them– flew open with the cry, his exhausted, broken body now alight with panicked adrenaline. He thrashed, unable to move his arm but still capable of kicking at whatever was attacking him. He was the Hero of Time, for Goddess’s sake– he would not be taken down by some forest monsters!

The monsters screeched and chattered at him, but didn’t back off. Time found himself getting pinned down, head slamming back into the ground. A gentle hand touched his forehead, warmth spreading through his mind as the ringing in his ears subsided.

Huh, he hadn’t even noticed they were ringing in the first place. Weird.

“-nk. Link!” Time frowned, pausing his struggle. Since when could monsters talk? And why did they know his name? “Hey, are you with me? Sprite?”

Sprite. Nobody had called him that since-

“...C’pt’in?” His voice sounded hoarse, muffled slightly by the leather between his teeth.

His vision was blurry, but he could make out a familiar blue scarf as a figure nodded. “That’s right. You hit your head pretty hard, but we don’t have any potions or fairies. A few of the others left for the village nearby to buy some, and they should be back shortly. Sky and I are working on resetting your arm, but that club did a lot of damage…”

“I can see your bone,” a new voice– Sky?– murmured, clearly distraught. “The Knight Academy didn’t prepare me for this…”

“You’ve lost a lot of blood,” Warriors chuckled awkwardly. “But we’ve stopped the bleeding for now, and Hyrule managed to heal your head a bit.”

“Which he shouldn’t’ve done!” A third voice interrupted, further away than Warriors and Sky.

The Captain exhaled slowly. “Relax, Vet, he’ll be fine. They’ll be back with potions soon,” he reminded, sighing. Warriors turned back, making an expression that Time struggled to make out with how blurry his vision was. “Like I was saying, Hyrule healed your head a little. He passed out again, but Legend’s watching him. How are you feeling?”

Time mumbled incoherently, voice muffled by the leather in his mouth. Even if it hadn’t been there, nothing the Old Man said was intelligible anyway.

“...Right. So… not good?” Warriors guessed. Time closed his eye, nodding slowly. His head ached, to put it lightly, and even though some of the fog had cleared (thanks to Hyrule), it was far from healed. And don’t even get him started on his arm– he could really feel it now, and he was suddenly thankful for the leather preventing him from cracking his teeth.

Time wasn’t sure if he could handle more pain on top of all of this.

He almost wished Hyrule hadn’t tried to heal his head. Obviously, he was thankful for the traveler, but it didn’t do much to help the situation. Yes, Time was no longer thrashing around and fighting monsters that weren’t there, but now he was much more aware of his pain and how unbearable it all was.

Plus, Hyrule was unconscious. Again. That was also bad.

“Think we can set the next break?” Sky asked quietly, hesitant fingers pressing against Time’s wrist.

Time didn’t wait for Warriors to reply, humming a simple “mm-hm” as he nodded once. He kept his eye shut, focusing on breathing in through his nose, out through his mouth. In through his nose, out through his mouth. In through his nose-

Crack.

He let out a strangled yelp, back arching as his feet scrambled for a hold. His eye, although closed, watered, tears threatening to slip down his cheek. Gentle, yet firm, hands held him down, pushing him back into the dirt as he gasped and choked.

“Okay, it’s okay, you did it,” Warriors soothed, slowly releasing the pressure on Time’s chest. “That should be enough. A potion can take care of the rest of it.”

As if they had been summoned, Wind, Four, Twilight, and Wild burst from the bushes, arguing loudly. They quieted instantly, Wild tapping at his slate to produce a red potion and hand it to Warriors.

“Get a green one to Traveler,” the Captain ordered, uncorking the red potion. Sky helped to lift Time’s head as the leather was removed, sour potion quickly poured down his throat. The effects were apparent immediately– the bones in his arm fused back in place, the skin around the injury was knit together, and his head was cleared. Everything was still a little hazy, but Warriors did mention blood loss.

“Here,” Sky murmured, helping Time to sit up. The older hero groaned, holding a hand to his head. His vision swam for only a moment, and then he was back with them. He did a headcount– Captain, Sailor, Smithy, Pup, and Sky were with him, while Champion and Vet were trying to feed a green potion to a passed-out Traveler.

Warriors chuckled, waving a small piece of leather. “You really did a number on this one, Old Man,” he remarked, showing the deep indents left by his teeth. “Glad to have you back.”

“Good to be back,” Time replied, exhaling. “And thank you for fetching us potions,” he added, addressing the others. “Good work.”

Wind hummed, trying to play it cool while his nervous expression gave him away. “Yeah… how's your arm? And your head?” The sailor fidgeted, eyes wide and waiting.

“I'll be just fine,” Time assured him, offering a tiny smile.

“Wind stepped in to defend you after you went down,” Warriors explained, ruffling the sailor’s hair proudly. “He kept the monsters away until we could get to you.”

Time turned to their youngest member, now smiling proudly. “Well, Sailor, thank you for looking out for me. I appreciate it.” He reached to pat Wind’s shoulder with the arm that hadn’t just been healed, nodding slowly at the sailor.

“No problem,” Wind replied with a grin.

Warriors stood up with a grunt, wiping his hands on his pants. “I know this is less than ideal, but do you think you could make it to the village?”

“It’s not too far,” Wind added.

Time sighed, stretching his recently healed arm hesitantly. “I believe I could, yes.” The Captain helped him up, holding him when he stumbled from being light-headed. “I’m alright, I’m alright,” he assured. “Just a bit dizzy.”

“Right, well, as soon as we get there, you’re heading straight to bed,” Warriors decided.

Time shrugged, sighing. “Fine by me.” He glanced around the group. “Is everyone okay? I neglected to ask earlier.”

The Captain snorted, slinging Time’s arm over his shoulder for support. “You were unconscious earlier. I’m pretty sure that’s a good excuse not to ask,” he commented lightheartedly. “But to answer your question, yes. Everyone’s fine, other than some scrapes and bruises.”

“Well, Hyrule fainted, but I don’t think he’s physically hurt at all,” Sky reminded. “He used too much magic again.”

“We gave him a green potion,” Wild spoke up, approaching the group. Legend wasn’t far behind, Hyrule on his back. “He’ll be fine once he wakes up.”

Warriors nodded. “So that’s two of us going straight to bed when we arrive,” he chuckled. “We should get going, then. If the Old Man passes out on us, it’ll be a lot harder to travel.”

“I’m not going to pass out.”

The Captain raised an eyebrow. “Yeah? I’m not too sure about that.” They started walking, each step heavy in Time’s body and mind. The world was rather muted, now that he thought about it… maybe the Captain was right.

As if he could read Time’s mind, Warriors hummed. “Almost there,” he murmured, grunting with the steadily growing effort of helping Time walk. “Just hold on a little longer and you can rest.”

“Just up ahead!” Wind exclaimed, pointing past the underbrush. Sure enough, a small village was within sight, and just in time, too. Any further and Time probably wouldn’t have stayed standing.

Once they were in the village, it didn’t take long to rent out a few rooms and get Time (and Hyrule) resting comfortably. The Old Man was out almost instantly, so Sky left a glass of water on the bedside table and they all left him to sleep. He needed it after all the blood he lost. Some rest would do him good.

hellloooooo ask for you amy. tell me about a minor character from your writing / worldbuilding

Thank you for watering my crops (giving me enrichment in my enclosure) by sending an ask

The unfortunate thing here is that my creative process is largely TOP DOWN, rather than BOTTOM UP, so I have a lot of CONCEPTS and some smaller scale details about the world, but in terms of CHARACTERS? Almost every named character has a pretty direct impact on the main plot and I can't really say much about them without getting into a bit more detail about the bits of worldbuilding or story they're connected to than I want to publicly post about.

And yet, behold, I must put a page break anyway.

The first one (and really almost ONLY one) that comes to mind is Jones/"Jonesy", a character who will be introduced in chapter 1 (like, opening scene), and won't have much (if any) relevance after that point, but saying much about him would require going into detail about the organization he works for, The House of Cards, which is kind of like a John Wick style Continental/High Table thing that's REALLY INTERESTING but too much of a "some data scraper would love to grab this idea for some company to steal and copyright" risk for me to really want to discuss outside of like, private messaging.

YOU, SPECIFICALLY, I would be willing to talk to about it if you wanted to maybe add me on discord. There's a NUMBER of things from the world and story I would love to loredump about and get your thoughts on, honestly.

He's basically the character who acts as a sort of messenger/recruiter who brings Ash into the first arc of the plot. There's not all that much to say about him because his role is SO minor (unless something changes). All the interesting stuff about him is really stuff about "The House" (think "The House Always Wins").

The House of Cards is divided into factions based on the suits in a deck of cards. The card suits in this world do not perfectly correlate to the ones we know (there are six instead of four, for starters). The ranks/authority/responsibility/clearance levels are based on the face value of the cards. Jones is a Star (the suit for messengers, couriers, etc. think of stars as the "connect the dots" faction), and his rank is 7. Rank 7s are called "Luckies". So "Jonesy" is a Lucky Star. And yes this WAS set up just to make it an Alien reference.

I would LOVE to say more, because the House is one of my favorite factions in the lore, but not on tumblr.

Almost every named character that currently exists exists because they are relevant to some specific organization, historic/lore event, or worldbuilding concept that I can't super comfortably talk about. Or, alternatively, there just isn't much to say about them.

There's a vampire-owned nightclub type space in the raunchier part of the main plot city (basically a red light district, might call it something like the Scarlet Borough depending on how I end up dividing the city up). The club is most likely called Crimsin and it functions as both a vampire safehouse and a kink space with a focus on S&M and particularly bloodplay (think consensual vampire feeding). The vampire who runs it is either Victoria Sarkov or Alina Caedir, I haven't decided. More likely Victoria. Alina probably does something else. I have not made fleshed out backstories for either of them currently, apart from an alternate cross between them being used as a character in my Forgotten Realms campaign. Which won't be relevant for this, since it's a fully original setting.

They're not huge fans of Cass. Cass is a very unusual vampire created in a very specific way who had some very specific experiences that all wrapped up into making her DECISIVELY the most powerful vampire in the world. Cass is basically a "first generation" vampire created DIRECTLY by some very powerful magic, and the circumstances of the casting made the spell especially potent. The vampires on Une aren't. Cass would be, as a base, the equivalent of an Original from TVDverse, plus some telekinetic abilities. Plus the equivalent of a Planeswalker spark. Plus a general massive power boost she got during the Horizon War when she drank the blood of .... something I won't talk about here. :)

Victoria doesn't love that she isn't the top of the food chain (especially considering Cass is much younger than her, and not originally from the same world), but for the most part they keep their distance from each other. Ash sometimes bothers Victoria for information. Vic tolerates this for 2 reasons: Ash is very, very tasty (there are Reasons for this) and an occasional patron in good standing, and Cass (whom Ash is very close with) is one of the only people that can substantially threaten Vic, although she's not likely to without a reason.

It's in Vic's best interest not to give her one.

Most of Une's vampires are a little intimidated by and somewhat resentful of Cass because she's one of their only real threats. For the most part Cass is utterly indifferent to them and minds her own business because she couldn't care less about vampire politics.

The other meaningful threat to vampires is angels, since they're the other major group of innately powerful semi-immortal people. Saints (the most populous of the angel subtypes in the Inner Realms) make up a meaningful percentage of the main city's governmental structure and especially law enforcement (kind of like Ravnica's Boros Legion). They also mostly leave vampires alone as long as they're not causing problems. Vampires are a known quantity of the world, but they're not a contagion that will spread uncontrollably without interference. Becoming a vampire is a slow and very much intentional process, it's not something that can really happen by accident. The only time vampires are a problem are when there are problem vampires, and problem vampires are usually dealt with by the rest of vampire society.

For the most part, the best way to keep vampires in check is to let vampires keep EACH OTHER in check. So places like Crimsin do not operate outside the law, they're just a fact of the world.
