"I was a kid from a conservative state who LOVED Soul Eater and especially LOVED Crona, a canonically nonbinary character. When I shipped them, they were a "boy" when shipped with Maka and a "girl" when shipped with Death the Kid. Part of it was probably internalized homophobia, but the other part was genuinely exploring what it felt like to have a single person represent both the feminine and the masculine at once, and be shipped with both a man and a woman with equal interest. Now I'm genderfluid AND bisexual. 😔I love them forever. 🫶🏻"

"When I first read One Piece, I was already nonbinary, but for quite a while I couldn't really get more specific about my identity than that (which is fine, of course! I just personally wanted something more specific to describe myself). I'd spent a good bit trying in vain to "find out" what I "really am" and just kind of settled on nonbinary, because I couldn't figure it out, but I Wanted to be something else (a bigender man). Seeing Yamato say "I chose to be a man" made me remember that, oh yeah, if I want to be a man I can just be one! There were many other factors too of course, but Yamato contributed greatly to the man half of my current bigender man+woman identity."
