#love those who ship what you ship

Ahem…

This has been stewing for a minute, but I can’t hold back my rant.

Fic authors write because they LOVE their ships. They write for themselves, they write because they want to share with their audience.

But they owe you nothing.

I’ve lost count of how many writers who I know who have burnt out from fandom, who’ve deleted accounts and walked away. I know writers who’ve switched ships or lost their mojo in a fandom.

And that’s fine. Authors are human.

Every writer I know has a life outside of their fic, they are not at your beck and call.

Do you want content? Guess what? You can write it yourself. Or find someone who does commission work and PAY them to write what you want. (It’s worth it 😉) Want a completed product? Reach out to the author and ask if you can finish their fic. You’d be surprised at the response. Some authors love to collaborate.

Fandom is full of amazing writers who feel true pressure from their audience. They see minimal interaction, no comments, no reblogs. They get discouraged. But they keep going because they love their ships.

No interaction = no fic.

Lousy comments = no fic.

Be adult, be civil. Don’t be entitled or snarky.

I am thankful for content creators, I’ve made some great friendships. Several of you have kicked my butt into posting my own stuff.

Don’t be a jerk. If you want a finished product, Amazon, B&N, Kindle Unlimited, and your brick and mortar bookstore are full of great books.

In your Spitfire AU, since Zuko is looking after Lu Ten II, what happened to Ursa?

Zuko is slightly older in the Spitfire AU. He was banished at fifteen, his head a little clearer and denial a little weaker than in canon. After his first look through the Air Temples, Zuko decides that if he can't find a myth, he might as well search for the next best thing.

Finding Ursa isn't easy, but in time he makes it to a secluded house in a near-forgotten part of the world. His mom is there, older and stronger and alive.

But she isn't alone.

And Zuko, as it turns out, didn't keep the best company during his search.

When Ursa is discovered and her secrets are laid bare for assassins (for Ozai) to find, she begs Zuko to take his little brother and run. She'll do anything it takes to protect her children, even if that means leaving them behind to keep a target off their back. Ursa diverts attention from them and allows Lu Ten's ancestry to be kept a secret. She orders Zuko not to follow her again, and disappears.

Zuko is left with a little three-year-old brother to raise and a mother he cannot hold onto.

Warnings: impending death and explosion

All it takes is pressure. He’s taken more shots than he could count and never second guessed himself until now.

He had to kill you. You betrayed him, you helped the enemy. But he couldn’t do it. He couldn’t kill you. His finger was frozen and a turbulent mix of emotions take over him.

Krennic was always in control. But you were the ultimate test, you’ve always been and he should have known. He broke his own rule and took you as his lover.

He never divulged secrets but it felt like he did, especially the nights when you laid silently in bed, and the rare occasions when he’d kiss your forehead and caress your fingers. You’ve seen a side of him no one has.

All this time you were working him. You were a fucking spy.

“Do it!” You step closer, eyes locked on his.

Krennic could never make sense of how he felt about you. He desired people physically, hated others, used others until they were no longer useful. But you? You confused him.

Injured and knowing you wouldn’t escape this planet in time, you knew your options were limited. But you completed your mission. You stood with the rebel alliance and would die with them.

You watch the tension in his face as his blue eyes fix on yours. Clearing your throat, you shift your weight trying to ignore the pain in your leg,

“We’re all going to die in minutes Orson. Either shoot me, or let me die on my own terms.”

Krennic yells and lowers the gun, cautiously.

It was over. It was really over. Everything he worked for, gone.

You take in a breath and soften your gaze, “this is the end, Orson. I couldn’t let you do it. Maybe, in another life you’ll understand why. But you were never going to in this one.” It’s almost time. You can feel it. It’s like everything is vibrating with a death rattle. You look down, “I want to die down there. Not up here. Let me go, or shoot me.”

Weaponless, you present your hands. In the fight moments before he knocked your blaster out of your hands. You look again at the ladder, climbing down would hurt like a bitch. But at least you could sit and let death come.

When you look at him again the gun is still lowered. He doesn’t say a word. You exchange one more glance and limp over to the ladder.

With difficulty you make it down to the ground and sit with a pained moan. You stare out at the sky.

Your father always said let your death mean something. And though you wanted to live and you were afraid, this meant something. This was important.

You sniffle and wipe the tears from your eyes. In less than a minute, the Death Star would blow.

Hearing steps behind you, you look over your shoulder and see his boots, the cape in the wind behind him.

Doing a double take, your breath hitches in your throat. His expression is somber, and for the first time ever you see defeat in his eyes.

Krennic sits next to you and stares straight ahead, his jaw is clenched.

As you blink more tears escape your eyes, “25 seconds.”

You hear a sound you know well, he’s removing his gloves. A second later he reaches for you, taking one of your hands in his.

You turn your head, your eyes meet. He still doesn’t speak.

Your last view is the sky and his blue eyes.

His last view is the face of the woman who took everything from him. Still, he chooses to die with you.

Krennic always loved your hands.

Look I´m a full believer that you should ship what you want and not harass others for their ships BUT

Lately on the Sauron/Mairon tag I´ve seen some people say he wouldn´t be interested in men!??!? Like I´m sorry to break it to you but he literally saw the most beautiful woman to ever exist and instead of thinking about his own desires he instantly thought "my boss would be so proud of me if I gave her to him."

WHAT´S NOT GAY ABOUT THAT CREATURE!?!??!?

Also on a smaller note the few posts that say Sauron could NEVER be gay are literally calling people weird for shipping him with men?? So, could we please just go back to shipping the mass murder with who we want to and stop bothering others with who they ship him with?? No?

So ship who you want and have fun, talk with those who ship the same and all that, but don´t go in and accuse others for having the wrong ship :)

EDIT: just to make sure everyone understands I DON´T IN ANY WAY SUPPORT PEOPLE WHO POLICE SHIPS OR SHAME PEOPLE FOR THEIR SHIP OR ACCUSING THEM OF NOT FOLLOWING CANON ETC ship who you want and don´t bother people who have another ship and try to "teach" them about your ship if they don´t ask for it.

Ahhh thoughts about Laios Touden who would love you regardless of who you were. Your species, your race, your gender, your sexuality, none of those things matter in his eyes. Because to him, what makes you so wonderful and easy to love is that you’re simply just you. And there’s no other combination like you.

I get especially sappy thinking about it if you’re a tallman, too. At first, it seems like Laios couldn’t care less about humans. He always talks about how boring he finds his own race in comparison to others but it’s all heavily influenced by his own experiences growing up and being ostracized and bullied by those around him.

But just think about what it’s like when he meets you, another tallman. Yes, you’re human, but when he realizes that you won’t treat him differently for the way he is, he sees you as so much more than that. So what if you’re a tallman? A little thing like that doesn’t matter to him.

It’s not just that you’re “different from other tallmen”… it’s because you’re you. And he’s him.

Nothing more than that.

In an odd unlikely twist of fate, it seems that this time, the mundanity of it all is what completely captured Laios’s heart.

So what I love about this is how completely accurate it is to describe your kink orientation as a "need". Because it's not just something I would like out of a relationship. It's not a want. It's a need. I'm actively unhappy in vanilla relationships(or that one time I spent a year trying to be in a relationship with another sub *shudder*). I need to be able to submit to my partner. And honestly I just need to be able to submit in general. Not having that feels like I'm suffocating. So Louis saying that he and Armand had figured out what they NEEDED from each other, not wanted, but needed, is perfectly accurate.

Also look at the love in their eyes!!!! You'll NEVER convince me that they weren't in love in Dubai.

Currently Reading: i just finished re-reading “the Exorcist,” I had listened to the audiobook, wasn’t sure if the audiobook was abridged, went by to my copy, and yep: abridged. This week, I also finished “Big” by Lionel Shriver and started “the Wager” by Gregory Grann and am going to start re-reading the “Silo” series because I see AppleTV has done an adaptation.

Last Song: Bittersweet Symphony- The Verve- There’s been lots of change this year, I’ve made myself a reflection playlist to help with the feels™️. Last songs related to fic were “Rush” by Depeche Mode and “Who by Fire” by PJ Harvey (covering Leonard Cohen, thank you “Bad Sisters”)

Last Movie: Full movie? “Captain Marvel”. But I watch that almost weekly. Last “new” movie watched was “A Knock at the Cabin” and I was happy with the adaptation. Someday I’m going to write a Dave Bautista fic, but I haven’t found the right character.

Last Series: Seeing Thrawn played by an IRL actor has sent me back to “the Mandolorian” Prior to seeing the clips from SWCE, I hadn’t had a hook into the show. But I’ve been reading about Thrawn since…yeah, I’m old…I honestly think that the continuity of keeping Lars Mikkelsen is one of the better ideas that the SW Universe has had in a while. Also, I finished “Poker Face” yesterday and it was amazing!!

Sweet, Savoury or Spicy: These days, it’s savory.

Craving: In January, I was in the hospital and have been eating mostly bland food since. My go-to these days is a quinoa blend with butternut squash and chia. Right now, I’m craving a vanilla bean skyr and’ll probably have one after I finish this post.

Tea or Coffee: Coffee, less these days (see last paragraph). Lots of blackberry flavored seltzer water too.

Currently Working On: I’m still in my Ben Mendelsohn era. My current fic is an “Outsider/Midnight Mass” crossover. As there has been an uptick in Ørson Krenn.ic fic on my dash, I’m am heavily editing my Krenn.ic/Kary series with the plan <hides head> to post it here. AND trailers for “Secret Invasion” are poking my dreams for Sam and Keller. But if I post anything, I will be standing on the shoulders of *giants*. You know who you are 🥰😉

I'm really not a villain enjoyer. I love anti-heroes and anti-villains. But I can't see fictional evil separate from real evil. As in not that enjoying dark fiction means you condone it, but that all fiction holds up some kind of mirror to the world as it is. Killing innocent people doesn't make you an iconic lesbian girlboss it just makes you part of the mundane and stultifying black rot of the universe.

"But characters struggling with honour and goodness and the egoism of being good are so boring." Cool well some of us actually struggle with that stuff on the daily because being a good person is complicated and harder than being an edgelord.

Sure you can use fiction to explore the darkness of human nature and learn empathy, but the world doesn't actually suffer from a deficit of empathy for powerful and privileged people who do heinous stuff. You could literally kill a thousand babies in broad daylight and they'll find a way to blame your childhood trauma for it as long as you're white, cisgender, abled and attractive, and you'll be their poor little meow meow by the end of the week. Don't act like you're advocating for Quasimodo when you're just making Elon Musk hot, smart and gay.

Although painful to watch, it felt incredibly validating. It was so annoying watching some people say this show was “only about class” while dismissing the BS that Simon had to go through. The abuse was ten fold because he’s POC and S3 finally exposed that.

That being said, and on a more positive note, it was so incredibly sexy when Simon sang happy birthday to Wille in Spanish (he feels safe with him!) and when Wille admitted to fantasizing about stroking those beautiful curlssss (and then actually did it). 🥹❤️‍🩹

I know I've been on about this for a while now and I'm being a hater but you're telling me SydCarmy was "always meant to be platonic" even though there are two seasons of writing making use of tried-and-true explicitly romantic tropes, themes and writing signals, and SydLuca is going to be romantic because...he was nice to her on screen for a few minutes?

I don't even care if people ship SydLuca, or if they just prefer it, but you can't honestly tell me that you believe Carmy was always meant to be a friend but Luca is an obvious love interest.

Just because Syd and Carmy haven't kissed or confessed their love to each other doesn't mean that isn't very obviously the direction this show is going. The Bear has already shown you who is endgame. It has shown you every episode of the show so far.

Honestly I really don't think The Bear fanbase understands this show or cares about these characters or the story being told here, which is unfortunate because this show is shockingly well-written in comparison to most shows right now, and we should be so grateful for it but all we're doing is complaining that the writers led us on by not making a ship canon fast enough. It's just. Sad.
