Ahhh thoughts about Laios Touden who would love you regardless of who you were. Your species, your race, your gender, your sexuality, none of those things matter in his eyes. Because to him, what makes you so wonderful and easy to love is that you’re simply just you. And there’s no other combination like you.

I get especially sappy thinking about it if you’re a tallman, too. At first, it seems like Laios couldn’t care less about humans. He always talks about how boring he finds his own race in comparison to others but it’s all heavily influenced by his own experiences growing up and being ostracized and bullied by those around him.

But just think about what it’s like when he meets you, another tallman. Yes, you’re human, but when he realizes that you won’t treat him differently for the way he is, he sees you as so much more than that. So what if you’re a tallman? A little thing like that doesn’t matter to him.

It’s not just that you’re “different from other tallmen”… it’s because you’re you. And he’s him.

Nothing more than that.

In an odd unlikely twist of fate, it seems that this time, the mundanity of it all is what completely captured Laios’s heart.

Used the 3 day weekend to finish up Lostbelt 7! It must have just been the bad release schedule that gave people a bad impression of it in JP, because the lostbelt itself was excellent, probably one of my higher ranked ones?

It somehow manages to be both ridiculous and heartfelt and tense all in one big chapter, like yeah the dominant species is dinosaurs and there’s some hilarious stuff with that including Tsukihime’s Shiki and Arcueid but dinosaurs lol, and dead apostle dinosaurs, but I did end up caring about Tepeu (dino shiki) and it somehow worked…?

And we finally learn more of U-Olga Marie! Amnesia usually feels a little forced but it worked in this case and it was great getting to learn about her and become friends and realize she’s not our enemy… she’s just like the Director we knew…

My favorites of the new characters would have to be Camazotz and Izcalli though (and of course they’re the two that are not summonable…) Camazotz cause I love a guy that goes around terrorizing people and drinking their blood, and his story of being the king of Ka’an that lost everyone in the fight against ORT and simply keeps living on purposefully forgetting was great and his design is one of the best in the game they went so hard

And Izcalli partially cause Furumi art LOL, but also the whole thing with him being raised to be a divine sacrifice for ORT by Tez is the kinda stuff I enjoy, especially cause he starts having doubts and refuses at the end… I was almost disappointed when Tez seemed accepting of his choice but then he shot him in the head and I was like YEAAAH! He’s the kind of character I want to see hurt hahah

I always love the crypters so aaaaa Daybit!! I was so excited to learn what his deal is, and having the context of how he perceives time and how his memory works gives new meaning to a lot of his behaviors (how he always making a big deal of not wasting time, saying little… and also it makes him going to save Pepe all the more touching)

Also he’s a genuinely good person, just with a more universal perspective than us, and Chaldea really was up to some shady shit (MARISBURY….) I don’t entirely know what’s going on with Chaldeas being an entire other planet made by him, current guesses are something along the lines of nier replicant but with the whole planet, replicas to preserve humanity… or maybe a global scale of the Lion King’s plan in the 6th singularity… something to “preserve” them but that’s abusive of them… I wonder if the Chaldean is from Chaldeas, the replica of Romani…? Too little info now… and lots to think about

The battles were great this time too, lots of interesting mechanics (like floating servants for Tlaloc, or Daybit copying the number of servants you send out), but of course the real star was ORT, it was so cool!! I love how they did the raid, managing to make it both incredibly intimidating, but still very doable (and not even all that hard) for just about anyone who has been playing long enough to get to LB7 in the first place. I didn’t even use a single 5 star but I still felt the pressure of wondering if I had enough Servants to take it down, and seeing “data lost” hammers home that intimidation factor…

And the final battle ending where it all began, in Tezcatlipoca’s underworld by the fire with him and Daybit.. I heard people say that fight is hard, but I didn’t find it too bad (second Tez fight was worse because of invincibility) and quite enjoyed it, also the music gave the atmosphere of a final send off…

Seven whole disciples huh… including U-O herself… also I love Limbo being referred to as the “incarnation of evil” haha yeah that’s why I love him 💕 I can’t wait to see how it all ends (though I guess we have ordeal call next) and I have a lot to think about here, anyway, overall a great lostbelt, they never disappoint!
