Delores' theme song.
I swear to god only Tim Burton could make me like the Bee Gees.
Yeah, yeah [old Fogey voice], I was 19 when the Bee Gees released this song. Radio DJs -- that's where we got our music, kids, either records or the radio -- played this over and over and over. I hated their voices. They sounded like Castrati on Speed.
45 years later, Tim Burton created Delores.
When I first heard the song in a trailer I winced. Why the fuck did Burton, who's only 2 1/2 years older than me, pick the freakin Bee Gees? He's the kind of guy I imagined would have hated their songs (though they're the soundtrack of any 70s teenager, like it or not). I braced myself to sit through whatever scene had the song.
God, I love the man. The lyrics are so fitting for Delores and Beetlejuice. After all, Delores means "sorrow" or "pain."
Here I lie, in a lost and lonely part of town Held in time, in a world of tears I slowly drown Goin' home, I just can't make it all alone
I really should be holding you, holding you Loving you, loving you
Tragedy When the feeling's gone and you can't go on It's tragedy When the morning cries and you don't know why It's hard to bear With no-one to love you, you're goin' nowhere
Tragedy When you lose control and you got no soul It's tragedy When the morning cries and you don't know why It's hard to bear With no-one beside you, you're goin' nowhere
Night and day, there's a burning down inside of me Oh, oh Burning love, with a yearning that won't let me be Down I go and I just can't take it all alone
If you've never heard the whole thing, here's the 70s Castratis. They used to play this in the disco. It's fuck to dance to, believe me.

We teens had a theory they sang like that because their pants were too tight.
