Author’s Note: this fic is part of the Thirteen Valentines event, but can be read as a standalone! also, i would suggest listening to the song listed below to get a feel for the vibe of the fic, but it’s not necessary. (Also, this fic in particular references the iconic 1987 film Some Kind of Wonderful, but I think I explained it well enough for someone who may not have seen it! However, if you haven’t seen it… Watch it. In my opinion, it tops all of those “must-see” movies like Sixteen Candles, etc. I adore this movie. The OG friends-to-lovers.)

You groan as the doorbell rings, your eyes finding the time on your phone. You’d just settled in with your bunny pajamas and your rattiest, biggest, comfiest sweater, and you really don't want to move now. What you want is to disappear into the couch that you’d spent way too much money on, under your favourite blanket, and mindlessly scroll through social media videos of cats for hours while pretending you aren't perpetually single on the holiday of love.

As much as you try to ignore it, the ringing only becomes more persistent, mixed with obnoxious, intermittent knocking. You groan again and stand up, making your way over to the door in annoyance. There are only a handful of people who would dare to be so irritating — Soonyoung if he wanted food, Chan if he wanted to show you a new dance routine, or…

“Mingyu?”

“Hi,” he says brightly, and your brain short circuits. He looks as wonderful as always, black hoodie and sweats, eyes warm as he waits for you to reply like a normal human.

You know that the right answer would be a greeting in response, but all you can think to say instead is, “It’s Valentine’s Day?” When Mingyu’s face falls a little bit, you hurry to explain yourself. “I mean… Do you not have plans?”

Admittedly, that response isn’t much better, but you genuinely don't know the answer to your own question. You had just assumed that he did have plans — you hadn’t even considered the possibility of him being alone today, honestly. You hadn’t really wanted to think too much about it. It wasn’t like it’d be hard for funny, kind, Adonis-among-men Mingyu to find a date. All he had to do was smile at any man or woman in his general vicinity and they’d be under his spell.

You know first hand what that feels like.

Your best friend showing up at your door on February 14th has replayed a thousand times in your brain. You’ve been head over heels in love with him for years now. The fantasy usually consists more of him in a tuxedo holding a huge bouquet of roses, proclaiming his love for you before kissing you passionately, but you can’t deny that you like this casual, tuxedo-less Mingyu just as much — if not more. He’s just… Mingyu. Soft and warm in that hoodie that you love, holding a box of your favourite pizza in one hand, a bag of who knows what else in the other.

“Do you not want me here?” He pouts, and you cave.

You sigh, but a smile makes its way to your face regardless. “Of course I do, Gyu. I just thought you had plans, that’s all.”

“I do,” he counters. “With you.”

You ignore the flutter in your stomach at his words, ignore the soft smile he sends your way when you move aside to let him in. “Alright, then… Let’s be single as hell on Valentine’s Day, together.”

Mingyu beams, stepping past you and into the apartment.

“Movie?” He suggests as he slips off his shoes and immediately makes his way to the kitchen with the pizza. You hear the sound of cupboards opening and closing as he makes his way around with ease, like he knows where everything is like the back of his hand. Because he does. Your heart stutters a bit in your chest at the reminder of how well he fits into your life, how well he knows your apartment.

He knows you pretty well, too, which is actually a big part of the reason you’re so surprised that he’d shown up today.

Because anyone who knows you knows that you’re in love with Kim Mingyu. Even new people who spend just five minutes with the two of you can tell, and you’re basically a pro at dismissing the couple questions by now. It seems the entire world can tell you’re head over heels except for the man himself, and you really don’t understand how he seems to have absolutely no clue. If he did, you don’t think he’d be so cruel as to suggest spending Valentine’s Day together.

And yet here he is, moving around your house like it’s his house, too.

He has no idea, you remind yourself. He’s just alone on Valentine’s Day, and he likes spending time with you. That’s all.

You busy yourself setting up in the living room, making room on your side table for the pizza and whatever else he’d brought. You catch sight of yourself in the reflection of the TV and grimace. Theoretically, you’re both dressed casually, so you shouldn’t feel underdressed for this impromptu hangout. But in reality, Mingyu looks better than everyone else all the time, no matter what he’s wearing. He reappears a few moments later looking every bit the part of an athleisure model with the pizza box, a bottle of wine, and a box of your favourite chocolates in hand.

“A heart-shaped box of Lindt?” You can’t help but blurt out. It isn’t unlike Mingyu to bring your favourite snacks to movie night, but it’s Valentine’s Day, and the chocolates are in a heart-shaped box.

“It was on sale,” he shrugs in response, settling down on the couch, and you want so badly to question the peculiar choice further. You don’t.

You hand him the remote, grabbing the blanket from where it had fallen on the floor at your abrupt departure from the couch while he puts a movie on. He seems to know exactly what he’s looking for, which is interesting considering he’s one of the most indecisive people you’ve ever met.

“What are we watching?” You ask. “Action? Thriller?”

Mingyu runs a hand through his hair, his other arm already outstretched for you to fall back against. You settle in next to him, pulling your knees up and draping the blanket over the both of you.

“I thought we could do something a bit different tonight,” he finally answers after a pause, and you look up at him in surprise.

“Like what?”

He simply nods his chin towards the TV, where the opening scenes of the movie he’s chosen are beginning to play. You recognize the title immediately: Some Kind of Wonderful.

Your heart leaps into your throat.

You’re not sure what to make of this. You’ve never seen the movie, but you know the premise of it: two best friends falling in love. This has to be a joke. You can’t help it as your entire body stiffens, and you tell yourself to relax.

You can’t.

“Why?” You finally blurt out. Your chest feels tight. You don’t know if you’re reading far too much into it, but when have you ever watched a romance movie together? You’ve expressly made sure that you didn’t.

“It’s Valentine’s Day,” Mingyu replies. “Thought it would be nice.”

You’re looking at him again, eyebrows knit together in confusion. He finally acknowledges you with raised eyebrows of his own, meeting your eyes briefly before motioning to the TV with his chin.

“Can you just watch it? It’s a good movie, I promise. Give it a chance.”

You nod slowly, doing as he asks, but you can barely focus for the next hour. Everything has been so strange; the movie choice, the way he’d shown up with wine and chocolate — all of which could have been excused, maybe, if it wasn't for the fact that Mingyu is acting strange, too. He’s normally so pliant against you during movie nights, so clingy. But tonight, despite your closeness on the couch, all he does is rest his arm loosely around your shoulders. No fingers tracing your skin, no pulling you against his side, no getting distracted by your hair and attempting to make a shitty braid with it. No maneuvering his own body so that he’s the one with his head in your lap. It feels like he’s holding his breath, like he’s waiting for something.

What in the world is going on?

It’s excruciating, but you try to focus. You’re almost there when the ending scene begins to play, but your whole body is still tense. You watch as the main characters, Keith and Watts, finally kiss in the middle of the street, and you think you can feel your heartbeat in your ears. You swear Mingyu has tensed up beside you, but you don’t take your eyes off of the screen as Keith finally speaks his confession.

“I’m sorry… I didn’t know.”

“Yeah, well, you’re stupid,” comes the words from Watts, and you suddenly feel tears pricking at the back of your eyelids. This all feels a little too real. Why did he put this on? What the fuck is Mingyu playing at?

“Why didn’t you tell me?” At Keith’s last words of dialogue from the screen, you feel Mingyu’s grip on your shoulder tighten.

“You never asked,” Watts replies, teasing, and you can’t take it anymore. You turn to your best friend, eyes wide, and he slowly moves to turn off the TV.

The atmosphere in the room has shifted dramatically, and you can’t look away from him, frozen. You can’t utter a single word. He’s picking at a piece of thread on his sweatpants, eyes downcast as he avoids your gaze.

It hits you like a brick, the reason why he’s being so strange. It’s because he’s nervous.

There’s no way.

A million thoughts race through your mind, a million reasons why going down this road could be a bad idea. But you have to ask — you have to know.

“Why didn’t you have plans tonight, Gyu?”

He meets your eyes again, and you can barely breathe. His gaze holds firm, intense, as he says, “Because I wanted to have plans with you.”

“On Valentine’s Day?” The insinuation of your words is clear, and you know that Mingyu understands exactly what you’re asking.

His eyes remain steady on yours as he replies, easily, “Yes.”

So simple. Certain. Sure.

You remind yourself to breathe, gathering all the courage that’s left in you to speak again. “‘Why didn’t you tell me?’”

You watch Mingyu’s face as you repeat the words from the movie, your voice trembling just the slightest bit. He’s really looking at you now, a soft smile on his face at your words, and your heart leaps into your throat. He’s stunning. He’s always stunning, but the way he’s looking at you right now has you feeling like you’re walking on air. His gaze is so warm, and you don’t want to look away from him ever again.

“‘You never asked.’”

“Neither did you.” Your words are your own now, and Mingyu nods, using the arm around your shoulders to pull you in against his chest. You flush as he draws you towards him, and you briefly wonder if you’re dreaming.

“You’re right.” He gazes down at you fondly, and your hand lifts tentatively to his jaw. He nuzzles into your fingers, turning to gently kiss your palm, and your eyes don’t leave his mouth. His free hand lifts to rest on top of yours, before he softly runs his fingers down your arm and up to your shoulder, your neck, your face.

“‘I knew you were stupid’,” you quote cheekily from the movie script again. Mingyu’s lips break into a wide smile as he lets out a surprised laugh, canines on full display as he beams.

Then he’s using his whole body to pull you into him, silencing your own giggles with a kiss.

Your breath is caught in pleasant surprise, and you can feel him smiling against your mouth. You’re impressed with how quickly you’re able to respond after your brain factory resets, the feeling of his lips on yours stunning you for only a moment before you react. Your fingers find the hair at the nape of his neck, tugging softly and earning a pleased hum from him. His teeth gently sink into your lower lip in retaliation, and you can feel your entire body react to it. His hands find your hips, helping move you so that you’re in his lap. All you can feel is him as he pulls you in closer and closer, kissing you like it’s all he’s ever wanted to do. He finally breaks away to kiss along your jaw, your neck, your shoulder, before moving to slowly press one final kiss at the base of your throat, and you can feel goosebumps spread across your skin at the featherlight touch.

“I love you,” he whispers softly, and you lower your chin to meet his eyes. You can’t help the giddy smile that’s broken out at his words, and you feel a bit like you’re soaring as he continues, “I’m in love with you. I really am, and I need you to know that.” His hands slide under the hem of your shirt, his fingers gently massaging the skin there, and your forehead falls to his.

“Mingyu…”

He hums, and you pull back to look at him, your fingers moving to softly trace every part of his face. You’ve long since committed him to memory, but one more time can’t hurt. He waits for a moment before he lets out a whine, burying his face into your collarbone.

“Stop looking at me like that.”

You let out a giggle. “Why?”

“Because I’m shy.”

You let out a snort, and Mingyu pulls away to pout up at you. Your fingers gently brush over his lips, his nose, his cheeks, and you can tell he wants to hide again, but he doesn’t.

“I love you too,” you say softly, and his pout is gone. “I have for a really long time now.”

He surges forward to press another kiss to your mouth, and you can’t help but gasp into it. You can tell he’s satisfied with himself as he smiles, pulling back just to say, “Guess we’re both stupid then, huh?”

You laugh, and you can almost feel the happiness radiating off of him as his arms fold around your back, pulling you back in and resting his head in the crook of your shoulder. Your hands move to wrap around his shoulders, your head softly falling to rest atop his.

“Oh my god,” you hear him mumble after a few moments of silence. You hum in question, and he moves to look up at you again. “I’m so excited to date you,” he says, his face full of genuine joy. You can feel yourself flush crimson as he continues, “I’m going to date you so hard. You can’t stop me. I’m going to hold your hand all the damn time, you have no idea.”

“I can’t fucking wait, boyfriend.”

Tara Carpenter x gn!reader

Summary: If only you knew....

You were discharged from the hospital, and Sam took you home. Tara had already left and stayed at home or left with Chad or Mindy.

You truly didn't mind, as long as you don't get a full-on 'speech' about your own health. The next day, you took Bailey's phone and went to a friend's place.

You parked your car and took the brown bag before leaving the car. You waved to some people nearby before turning to a record shop.

When you entered, a bell dinged, making your presence clear. An old man turned at the counter and smiled. "Y/N! Long time no see."

You chuckled and put down the brown bag on the counter. "How are you, Frank?" Frank adjusted his glasses and looked inside the bag.

"I'm doing great now that you finally visited." You chuckled. "Yeah, sorry about that. Tara has been keeping up on my feet." Frank shook his head and put the bag somewhere else.

"Thanks for the medication. I was running out." You only shook your head and started to walk to the staff room. "Flash here?" You scanned the dusty record store.

"Yeah! Busy on some phones." You only nodded and went into the staff room. A woman with a tank top and tattoos smiled at you and nodded to another door.

"Thanks." You muttered under your breath before knocking on the door. "Come in!" A gruff voice said and you opened it to find your best friend, Flash.

The man turned with a cigarette in his mouth. "The fuck ye doin here?" He asked, taking the cigarette. "Not even a hello? Ouch, Flash." Th man rolled his eyes and went back to fixing a phone.

"Ye only come here for fixin so get to talkin." He said, putting the cigarette. "I don't want to talk here." You greeted the two women who were on his bed probably naked under the sheets.

"Fine." Flash grumbled under his breath as he wore a tank top. You nodded and glanced around the messy and cramped room. "Where's Timmy?"

Flash scoffed. "He's name ain't Timmy, it's Tom. And he's at school." You only nodded, and the two of you soon left the store.

You threw some fries at Flash, who chuckled lowly. The man, in response, took the fries and ate them. The two of you were currently driving back to Tom's school to pick him up.

You parked the car and waited for the bell to ring for it to signal that school was over. Flash took out a cig and soon started doing his thing.

After 5 minutes of waiting, the bell rang, and children walked out of the school. You left the car and waited out for Tom.

Soon, you saw a bundle of blonde hair that was running to you. "Y/N!" You huffed when the 6 year old crushed you in a hug.

"Hey bud!" You said, picking him up and taking him to the car. "Whatcha doing here?" He asked, playing with your hair. "Nothing much, wanted to see my bestie."

Tom chuckled in response and went inside the car. You got in as well. "How do you feel about dinner with pops and me?" Tom smiled and shrieked.

Flash rolled his eyes at the boy but smiled either way. "Yeah!" Both you and Tom shouted and you went on Spotify for some songs.

You were driving to their house when Finesse [Bruno Mars & Cardi] started to play, and Tom's favorite part started to play.

"Sing it to me, Timmy." You vibed with him, and Flash only took out another cigarette. It's a good thing he rolled down a window as well.

Soon, you guys made to the apartment. You piggy backed Tom into the apartment, and you were currently sitting and eating door dash that Flash ordered.

Tom rambled about his day and a close friend, Alex. A boy he met recently today at soccer practice. You and Flash only nodded along. Soon, Tom was knocked out on the couch with Paw Patrol playing on the TV.

You and Flash stood at the balcony with cigarettes in both your mouths. "So, he attacked her an' she killed 'im?" You nodded and inhaled some smoke.

"She is on tough son of a bitch." Flash says with a huge grin and you chuckle at him. Okay, I'll do it then." He grabs the phone from you before you nod and soon leave the apartment.

You were currently passed out on the couch. You still had your suit fully on when your phone suddenly rang. You shot up and answered it.

"Hello?" You asked, rubbing your eyes. "Y/N, someone threw a molotov cocktail at the building. I need ye help." You didn't waste time as you shot up and wore your shoes before dashing out the apartment.

Your car screeched as you pulled to a stop. Outside was Flash's store in flames. You left the car and ran to Tom who was watching the flamed with worry.

"Buddy, where's dad?" You asked. Your breath was knocked out of your lungs when Tom pointed a shaky finger to the flames.

"Flash?" You muttered under your breath as if he would come. You heard abrupt coughing and squinted your eyes to see Flash under a board in the store.

You took your jacket off before dashing to the store. But before your foot even hit the ground, you were blown away. Your head hit the ground and you winced.

Small cries and sobs were heard from Tom. You sat up and looked at the store to see that the flames were much bigger. Screams rang out as you watched Flash's skin turn dark.

You joined Tom in his compilation of sobs and cries. You tried reaching out, but you were pulled back. You looked behind you to see Tara there with messy hair as she shook her head.

You couldn't do anything. You sobbed even harder. Your friend, brother, and the first man that ever cared for you. Gone. In the flames.

You looked to your left to see a can on fuel. This was planned. Flash was supposed to die. He was part of someone's plan.

You searched the street and froze when you caught Ghostface staring at you. He held a shotgun up, and he pointed to you. Your hand reached for your gun before you shot a bullet.

It's a black velvet dress, it screams "femme fatale" but still remains the elegance of the dress, it got a nice trim over the edges and it will fits you so well, it's a bit short since it ends just above your knees

She scoffs as she leans down to narrow her eyes at you "Well, the people say he might be a player but you know all of this junk is false, you know they twist their words to make it sell, right?" She throws the clippings away from you as you released a deep sigh

A hope in your eyes are noticable as she smiles softly at you "How about you and Gareth?"

"We're doing great but we decided to take things slowly for a while, I took your advice"

"No, I shouldn't said anything"

"But I'm glad you did and you we're right"

You tug up a small smile on the corners of your mouth

"This isn't about me, it's about you, I may not knew Eddie that a lot but when he lets you hold him and didn't want you to stop to care for him? He is so madly in love with you"

"There you go again feeding my delusions"

"Look, I'm serious, just listen, Eddie loves you and you'll thank me later"

You let out a small chuckle "Okay, Alexis"

"There's someone for you at the phone" Jeff went into the studio room as he watches his friend tuning his guitar

"Who?" He asks

"Elizabeth?"

Oh, he remembers her all right, but he cringed as he looks at his friend as he slowly stands up and placed his guitar on the stand as he whispers

"Tell her that I am not home"

"Well, I'll be damned, that's the 4th girl that you just dismissed!" Gareth throws the music sheets as it flies everywhere making a mess as Eddie glares at him

"I don't want them in my life anymore"

Jeff studies his friend as he realizes that he is sooooo determined to see you again, if only, he can see you again

He knows that his friend won't stand for it, he won't stay still, he ain't gonna calm down until he reunites with you again

"Right, so, you just met some girl-"

"He is not some girl, Gareth"

Gareth knows he is already pissed, so, he held his hand up in surrender

The phone rings again and Eddie thinks it's the most annoying sound ever as the ringing tone bleeds through his ear

He stands up fast as he yanks the phone wire ending up breaking it as his friend's watches in shock as he threw the telephone across the room

"W-Why did you do that?!? That could be important!" Jeff walks over to the destroyed telephone as he goes to the kitchen awaiting for the next ring and Eddie is about to- but he stops him by holding his chest

He picks it up as he answers, "Hello?"

Jeff pinches his nose bridge as he grimaces at Eddie who is now wearing a smug look on his face

"Well?"

"It's Josephine"

Jeff is about to end the call but Eddie snatches the phone as he spoke

"Hello, dear, I'm sorry but stop trying to call me, Goodbye, don't ever call me again" he slams the phone back on its place

His voice is still remains the softness but it's firm dictating the words very clearly

Jeff raises his eyebrows he thought he'll screech at the young woman over the telephone but he didn't, he just politely declined whatever the girl wants

"Dude, look at him! Not a fucking single regret on his eyes" Gareth gestures his hands as he points out to Eddie

"I'm gonna throw out any phone if someone else tries to call me again, there's no player in me anymore, a-and it was dead ages ago!"

"But the media still thinks that you are" Gareth snorts but Jeff pokes his stomach with his elbow

"That's all some crap that they made up"

"What makes you think she'll believe you?"

"What?"

"If you ever encountered her again"

"Then I'll say the truth and that's the only night that I ever slept with someone for so long and I wouldn't join anyone in a bed or in a freaking house that isn't her"

Jeff nods along with a enigmatic smile on his face as Eddie shakes his head at him but he smiles

"I also wonder Alexis been doing, I haven't talked to her for a month?"

"Didn't you say they lived in a province? Or like a small cities?"

"Yeah? They could be everywhere in the world?!? I think she forgots to mention the name of their town, but wait- I think I saw her I.D hanging around her neck once, I took a glimpse on it"

Gareth pulls his brows together as he tries to remember the memory

Jeff and Eddie looks at him waiting for the anticipated answer

"Indiana? I don't know what part in Indiana?"

Eddie claps both of his hands, "we should make a tour over there and convinced our manager to make it happen"

"Why didn't you say this before?"

"Hey, Don't take this on me! I only just remembered it! y'all should be thankful that I can recall it"

The phone rings once again and Eddie is ready to yeeted it out of the window

Both of the men panicked as they rushed to Eddie to stop him by breaking another phone

"No- Eddie!"

"Stop!"

The boys we're surprised that their idea is acceptable

They toured on every part in Indiana, even he needs to rest and he needs to sleep but every show they did before and after, he never stopped looking for you anywhere

He has turned the whole places of Indiana upside down just to look for you

He finds nothing

No, sign of you anywhere

But, he's not giving up hope, he would rather die just to be with someone who isn't you

He would never ever date or marry someone else that isn't you

Eddie is now starting think that you might be not a human being after all, maybe, you're just this angel that came down or even a magical entity that came into his life and that's why you disappeared all of the sudden

He thanks himself for being so attentive with your friend Alexis as she talks about you to him before, you sounded so wonderful with her stories but meeting you in person? It's more fantastic

He went every record store in the place, he grows sadder when some other places didn't have any, he knew that you liked his vinyl collection, so, he supposed that somehow you we're there looking at the records

But as always the result is none

He is rooting for the last place that they'll visit

Even you don't want him anymore, he'll still be happy just to see you again for one last time

A bunch of youngsters are awestruck of the café that you and Alexis usual spot to hang out

"Do the people of Hawkins just finally realized that the coffee is good there or what?" Alexis says as she clutches her purse tightly as you both approach a sea of people

"What are they screaming about?"

Some adults overheard you as they replied "A rock band just visited our town are having a show at Hawkins High"

"Oh my god, me and my bestfriend went there to highschool together!"

"We have to grab a coffee, first, Alexis"

You both finally made it inside as you take your orders

Unbeknownst to you, a certain man on the other side is also drinking coffee

A familiar laughter shoots through his core, oh boy, he felt weak in the knees as he heard it again

Despite the crowd being so loud, he still heard it

He thought was only hallucinating but he heard it yet again

Eddie turns around almost drops his cup of coffee as he shakily breathes

But, as soon as he gets up, the people are starting to get frenzy as the bodyguards couldn't handle the situation

He is stuck with all of the fans surrounding him

God, he is like fighting with his life at this very moment

He tries to walk ahead but no to avail as many people are dying to get close to him

Jeff and Gareth are politely telling people to give them personal space and to back off

They both follow their friends gaze as Jeff put hands over his head as Gareth eyes softens that he saw his girl again

"Please, don't leave!" He yells as he puts his hands on either side of his mouth as he shouts for your name

Making the crowd went completely silent, the rest of the people follow where he's staring at as you can hear the distant whispering

You froze as you stop your tracks to that voice

The voice that you thought you couldn't hear again

"They're here, I-I can't believe it!" Alexis sobbed as he saw Gareth who is teary-eyed

Eddie finally made his way over to you slowly as the people watch him, you're just about to turn around to face him

The second you looked at his eyes, your body shook that you can swear that Eddie can see it that you're nervous and confused

There's a unreadable expression on his eyes that you've never seen before

Maybe, you avoid yourself for letting him in, for staying in denial

But, the truth is, you still love him

"Hey, sweetheart, it feels so nice to finally see you again" He breathy laughs as he pulls up wide smile as his eyes goes all over your face

Your hair is different, shaggy haircut but still long, you're wearing a baggy long sleeve shirt as he can see the peek of your sports bra strap and denim skirt, a pair of sneakers but as always, you looked prettier on every kind of style

He had some changes too, I mean- he is always stylish but you didn't expect him to be even more confident, he wore a freaking mesh tee that you can see through his tattoos, he is so insane for wearing it and leather pants with boots

All you wanted to do is to throw yourself at him but you have a respect for yourself

You don't want him to give the satisfaction that he wants, so, you remained the wall that you build up

"Hello" you nod as you plastered a fake smile

His expression changes as he saw that you weren't pleased to see him again

But, then again, of course, why would you be happy

"Fucking tabloids" he thinks to himself

The swarming fans went wild as they tried to get to Eddie

Eddie jerks his head at the backdoor as you turn your head at it even you think if this was a bad idea to let him get into you again

Still, you want him to talk

The bodyguards blocked the way, so, both of you can have a privacy, you heard the people talking about you

"Who is the mystery girl?" As they all say

Alexis gave you an encouraging smile and a hug before she left you with him

She glares at Eddie who swallowed nervously

He tails behind your back as you went outside, he closes the door blurring out all the noise inside

He doesn't even know where to start as you wrap your arms around yourself ducking your head down, his hands are itching to touch you

"Uh, how are you?"

"I've been good" you lie, you missed him

He nods but if this painfully short conversation ends up like shit, he wouldn't be able to forgive himself, so-

"After that night" he brings it up, you get tensed as you look at his hopeful eyes

"I-I think I'm in love you" he said without a single trace of doubt on his voice

Your eyes are glistening to his confession but you take a step back at him as you slowly shake your head

"Eddie, y-you have a quite a reputation" you laugh in disbelief as you tried not to breakdown and cry Infront of him

He knows what you mean by that and he is never proud of it

He doesn't have anyone who looked at him in the way that you looked at him

You still haven't responded to him as he kept on going

"I'll give whatever you want, just say something, whatever you need, I'm going to give it to you and I guarantee that you'll be happy and I won't ever make you cry and feel hurt, we'll be together" he pauses as whispers the last line

"I-If that's what you want, if you'll have me" he rests his forehead against yours

"W-What a-about the girls?"

"Those days are over, baby, I only want you nothing more"

You quietly sniffle to his another confession as you look straight into his eyes

"And even you don't want me, I'll fucking die alone"

"Eddie- I"

"Also that night, I've never been with anyone else for so long that it feels like an eternity but when I met you, god, you change me, you put me on like I've never felt before and I still need more, I need you and I want you in my life permanently!"

It's true, his eyes fixed on you as he gauges for your reaction and verdict

"Sweetheart, I-"

You slam your lips over to his as he hums while kissing you back

Gosh, you both missed this

He cuts it off as he furrow his brows at you, looking at you in confusion

"Is that a yes?"

You let the happy tears fall as you hug him "Yes, Eddie, I love you"

You embraced him as you bury your face on his neck as you stand on your tippy toes

He sighs of relief as he carries you and circles you around as he pulls you back to kiss you once again

"I love you too so much" he says as you finally saw the glint of adoration on his eyes that you're terrified to see before

This time, he won't be worry not seeing you again

Because you'll stay forever with him on his side

Martin used to date 3 people back then. He then dated a 16 year old boy, while being 17 as well, as they broke up after the two were falling apart. When he was 21, he dated a non-binary person, who was 19, only for it to end when Martin turned 24. He had a crush on Koki during high school, but she rejected him gently and told him she likes girls, which he understood and the two still remained friends.

Martin started an artistry side business, where he helps kids with improving their art, selling his own art to people who like it, and drawing people like the people who draw the people in funny designs and such.

Martin noticed, and got scared as the clown tried to take him and pull him into a room. He panicked, screamed, cried, and tried to pull away, before his mother saw and yelled at the guy, as he ran off, turned out that guy didn't work at the circus, as he tried to kidnap boys for his own sick dreams.

Chris was humiliated, but he turned it to determination as he worked out, changed his outfits, and felt confident... While being insecure.

Before Chris wanted to do animal rescuing, he used like singing. He has an amazing voice, but he never sings in front of anyone, even Martin, but when he's alone, he sings to music he listens to.

In the friend group, Chris is the same thing as Martin, but he's smart enough to behave... Sometimes.

Chris loves his brother Martin, but the one thing he doesn't like is him being over protective, it makes him smothered, annoyed, and jealous how Martin can do anything, while Chris has to 'be careful', but Martin doesn't know, cause Chris doesn't wanna hurt his feelings, so he keeps it pent up.

Chris was kidnapped for ransom when he was 16, while his father forced him to go to the store to get some food for the family. His father wasn't even going to pay the kidnappers the ransom money, since he is very greedy and he thinks its punishment for being bisexual... He was found a couple of weeks later, traumatized and scared of the dark.

Backstory

Martin and Chris were both brothers in the Kratt Family, with their parents names being Linda and William Kratt and they have twin young sisters, named Christine and Susan, who were 18. Their parents got into a divorce, when Linda found out William cheated on her, and the siblings got to choose where to stay, where Susan and the brothers chose to stay with their mother in Canada.

Chris's relationship with his parents is half good and bad, good is his mother, who loves him, cares for him, and even supported him when he came out as bisexual, however, his father is distant, cruel to both brothers, tries to force sexism and his business job into them, and homophobic, where he outright hates Chris for being bisexual, making Chris heartbroken, as he was a daddy's boy.

Martin's relationship was like Chris's, only with him being a mama's boy and he despised his father, when he was 19 years old and Chris went missing. After he found out his dad literally sent Chris to he captured and wasn't going to pay his brothers freedom, he let out all of his anger and went feral, to the point he left his father bruised, bloody, and scared. He hated him ever since, and never even went into contact with him after he took Wild Kratt's idea and made it real.

The brothers love for the sisters is like the parents, where the two love Susan, who adores them, and sees Martin as a father figure, and supports Chris, even buying him a pride flag. However, they don't like Christine that much, since she's a total daddy's girl, where Martin felt bad for Christine for liking the man, and Chris is jealous of Christine for her getting the love while he can't.

Martin wanted to save animals when he was young, after watching an animal show, where there are bad people who take good and wonderful creatures and hurt them for their own selfish needs, so he vows to save any animals, be it pets, birds, rodents, even some insects. His father thinks it's dumb, while most people don't like Martin saving any animals, but his mother, sister, and Chris supports this idea, even with Chris joining in, and that actually helps Martin out to save many animals.

Martin got the idea to save animals around the world, but was hesitant to hire Chris, who begged and was excited to join, because he heard he'll have to face people who tries to hurt these sweet animals, and he's worried his brother would be hurt, but after thinking about it, and some reassurance and excitement from Chris, he, reluctantly, agreed, and thus! The Kratt Brothers created the Wild Kratts Show!

That's when they broke up and she hates closed spaces.

Backstory

Aviva has a mother, named Imelda, sister, named Tia, step father, named Eduardo, and step brother, named Roman. She has a father, named Carlos, who was an inventor and shown Aviva his greatest invention, even making suits for people whenever he needs. But he died, when she was 3 and her sister was 2, from a car crash, she missed him deeply, to the point she wanted to follow his footsteps of being an inventor.

She loves her mom and sister dearly, while they love and care for her, even supporting her dreams of being an inventor. She doesn't like her step dad and brother, however, as they're sexist jerks, trying to make Aviva give up on her dream, even setting her up with her ex. She hates them, but used their rudeness and sexist remarks as fuel for her determination, as she began to go to college and get a job at the Wild Kratts.

Koki used to date a couple of girls in college, it didn't end well, as the first girl was straight and pretended to date Koki for a place to stay, while cheating on Koki with a guy she was with before. The second relationship was a bet-like relationship, like the person bet they can date that person for a while. Well Koki began to close off on love in general, until she met Aviva and began to fall for her.

Martin did confess his feelings for Koki, but she rejected him for two reasons, her sexuality and her struggle with love. Martin can relate and offer to help her find love, so when he finds out she likes Aviva, he mostly helps her out by either getting them to hang out together or even leaving gifts for Aviva, as Koki gave him an ok to do so.

Backstory

Like I said, she was abused by her alcoholic mother, named Brianna, who was in a divorce with her father, named Axel, who has another family with a mom, Michonne, with 2 sons and a daughter, 21 year old named Marion, 18 year old named Julian, and a 17 year old named Becca, she has a twin brother, but they got separated, due to him being sold away to another family, since her mother don't want to deal with two kids, sadly, Koki never got the chance to find him. Koki hated staying with her mom, even changing her name to Koki, since she was named after her mother, so she goes by the name her father wanted to name her instead of her mother, which was his mother's name, Koki.

After she moved out of her mom's when she was 4, she bonded with her new family. Michonne treats her like a daughter and Koki adores her like a mother, while her siblings bond with her like siblings. She was intrigued by her father's tech skills, and he taught her how to do it, since the others don't seem interested in it. After she went to college and went to join the Kratts, the family supported her, meanwhile she cut off her mother for good.

Backstory

Out of the group, JZ has the calmest backstory here, though it did start with tragedy. He had two loving parents back then, until they died in a car accident on a stormy night, as a thunder struck onto a tree and it fell, crushing the car the family was in. People got JZ out, but his parents died, when the car, immediately, exploded with the two. JZ was horrified by storms since then, as he lost his parents from it.

JZ has to move in with his grandparents, who adore and care for him. His grandmother, Wanda, began to teach him how to cook, knit, and crochet, it helps him feel relaxed and happy to spend time with her. His grandpa, Connor, told him the story of how he used to fly a plane, where JZ was inspired and began to try to save the money to go to flying school.

His grandparents did die tragically, but JZ has nowhere else to go, so he had to stay at the shelter, until he met up with Chris again, who offered him a place to stay, which was the Tortuga, and the group is finally made!
