The next few weeks passed in a blur of routine. A new normal, one that felt both comforting and overwhelming in equal measure, began to take shape. You and Rafe had settled into a rhythm of sorts, with Willa at the center of it all. The house, once filled with tension and unspoken words, now carried the sound of laughterâher little giggles as she played with toys, the rhythmic hum of Rafe humming softly as he prepared dinner, and your voice singing along to a song just to get her to smile.
It was a strange blend of happiness and grief.
On the surface, everything appeared to be falling into place. Willa was thriving. Her laughter was more frequent, and the little spark of her personality was shining through with each passing day. But underneath it all, there was still the ache. The absence of Sarah and John B. lingered in every room, in every corner, like an uninvited guest. It was most noticeable in the quiet momentsâthe stillness that would creep in after dinner, when the house would settle, and Willa was fast asleep in her crib.
At night, Rafe and you would sit together in the living room, the empty space between you both palpable. Sometimes, you would talk, but it was often just the sound of the TV or the quiet clinking of wine glasses as you both tried to make sense of everything. Both of you, in your own way, were learning how to process the grief of losing Sarah and John B. while simultaneously trying to be the parents Willa needed.
There was no guidebook for this, no rulebook that could teach you how to grieve for your best friend while being there for her child, no instructions on how to love a child who wasnât yours by blood but had stolen your heart all the same.
It was on one of those quiet evenings that the realization hit. You had just put Willa to bed, tucking her into her crib while Rafe stood in the doorway, his expression unreadable.
âYou ever think about them?â Rafe asked quietly as you turned to face him.
You leaned against the doorframe, crossing your arms, eyes staring off toward the window. âAll the time. It doesnât really feel real yet, you know? Like⊠theyâre just gone. I still expect to get a text from Sarah telling me to pick up dinner, or John B. calling to complain about something. But none of thatâs happening. Itâs like Iâm stuck in this weird in-between place.â
Rafe nodded slowly, his gaze falling to the floor. âYeah. Itâs the same for me. Every time I go into town, I expect to see John B. standing at the docks or Sarah laughing somewhere. But theyâre not there. I keep thinking Iâll see them, and then⊠I donât.â
There was a heaviness in his words, a weight that neither of you had truly acknowledged out loud.
Rafeâs eyes met yours, a flicker of something unspoken in them. But before either of you could say more, there was a loud creak from the hallwayâthe unmistakable sound of Willaâs little feet padding across the floor. The distraction was enough to pull both of you out of your heads.
âSheâs up again,â you muttered, half-smiling. You started to make your way toward her room, but Rafe stopped you with a hand on your shoulder.
âIâll get her,â he said softly, almost as if he were offering more than just the simple task of comforting her.
You nodded, stepping aside to let him go. Watching him take the lead with Willa felt like a breath of fresh air. He was natural with herâcareful, gentle, even though you knew the weight of everything still hung on him, just as it did on you.
The next few weeks continued in much the same way. Days blurred together as the three of you navigated the waters of parenthood. You did your best to keep your emotions in check, but at times, you found yourself breaking down when you were aloneâalone with your thoughts of Sarah, John B., and what they would have wanted for their daughter.
You saw it too in Rafe. There were days when he would retreat into himself, the weight of his fatherâs abuse, the responsibility of being a father figure for Willa, and the grief of losing his sister bearing down on him all at once. He was more distant some days, lost in his own head, and it was hard to reach him. On those days, you couldnât help but feel the distance between you widening.
But then, on other days, he would open up a little more. You would catch him smiling at Willa in a way that made your chest tighten, and you would catch a fleeting look between the two of youâsomething deeper, something undeniable, but neither of you was ready to face it.
It was during one of these quiet evenings, a few weeks after the ruling in court, when you and Rafe found yourselves alone in the living room again. The weight of your grief still lingered, but now, it was different. You were both becoming accustomed to the rhythm of your new life, even if it was hard. Willa was playing in the corner, and Rafe was scrolling through his phone, but the silence between you was now loaded with something you both refused to acknowledge.
You leaned back against the couch, watching Willa, when Rafe suddenly spoke. âI donât know what Iâm doing half the time,â he admitted, his voice low. âI didnât ask for this. I didnât ask to be her father figure⊠but Iâm trying. I donât want to mess this up.â
You turned to face him, surprised by the vulnerability in his voice. âYouâre doing fine, Rafe. Better than fine. Youâre all she has right now.â
He exhaled deeply, looking at you for a moment. âYeah, but I canât keep pretending like I donât see you. I canât keep pretending like I donât feel something more than just⊠this.â
The words hit you like a thunderbolt. Your heart skipped a beat, and before you could form a response, Rafe stood up abruptly, running a hand through his hair. âThis isnât right. Youâre grieving, Iâm grieving, and weâve got Willa to think about. Thisâthis thing between us, itâs just too complicated.â
You stared at him, your throat tightening. âRafeâŠâ you whispered, not knowing what to say next. You did feel it. That pull. That undeniable connection that had been building between you both for weeks. But was it the right time? Was it right, when everything was still so raw?
âI donât know what to do with it either,â he muttered. âBut we canât keep ignoring it. I donât know if Iâm ready for this, for us... for her.â
And so, there you wereâon the cusp of something new, yet still trapped in the grip of grief. Neither of you ready to face the truth of what was brewing between you. But one thing was certain:Â something had changed, and no matter how hard you both tried to deny it, the feeling was becoming impossible to ignore.
âŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻ
The morning came too soon, dragging with it the weight of yesterdayâs unspoken words. The quiet tension that had settled between you and Rafe the night before lingered, thickening the air in a way that made it hard to breathe. You barely slept, tossing and turning, your mind racing through the things you didnât say, the things Rafe didnât say. Everything was so⊠messy.
You were standing at the kitchen counter, preparing breakfast for Willa, trying to get into the rhythm of your routine, but your thoughts kept drifting to him. To what he had said. To what you felt in your chest.
Rafe walked into the kitchen, his eyes heavy, hair unkempt. It was clear he hadnât slept much either, his posture stiff, like he was walking on eggshells. You exchanged a quick glance, and for a split second, you both seemed to be holding your breath, unsure of where to go from here.
âIâll make coffee,â Rafe muttered, moving to the counter to prepare the pot, his back to you.
You nodded quietly, not sure if you should say something, if he even wanted you to. The silence between you both was so thick now, every word felt loaded. The air smelled of coffee brewing, the soft hum of the kettle, and the soft sound of Willaâs babbling from the living room. But it all felt so distant.
âYou okay?â Rafeâs voice broke through your thoughts, quieter than usual.
You turned to face him, studying his expression. His usual walls were up again, that guarded look in his eyes that he wore so often when he was trying to hide something from the world. It made your chest ache, seeing him like this.
âI should be asking you that,â you said, trying to keep your tone light, but it came out softer than you intended. âYou didnât sleep either, huh?â
He glanced at you over his shoulder, giving you a tight smile. âNo, not really.â
The silence returned, but this time, it felt a little more fragile, like something was about to break. You could feel the weight of the words hanging between you both, words that neither of you was ready to say aloud.
Willaâs giggle interrupted the quiet tension, and both of you turned at the sound. The sight of her, laughing and playing with her toys, was a small relief, a distraction from the heaviness that had crept in. But even as you watched her, something in your chest ached.
You cleared your throat, forcing your mind back into the present. âI should get Willa dressed, get her breakfast ready.â
Rafe nodded. âYeah, Iâll take care of the coffee. You know she likes it when I make her pancakes.â
You smiled, a small, genuine smile that felt foreign after the events of the night before. âYouâre spoiling her.â
Rafeâs lips curled into a smirk, his usual cocky edge slipping back into place. âHey, she deserves it.â
There was a brief moment of normalcyâsmall talk, familiar routinesâbut it wasnât the same. The dynamic between you both had shifted, and you werenât sure how to navigate it.
You went to Willaâs room, finding her still in her pajamas, her little hands reaching for the toys scattered across the floor. You scooped her up, settling her in your arms as you began to change her, the soothing rhythm of dressing her bringing a sense of comfort amidst the storm inside your mind.
As you worked, your thoughts drifted again, back to the conversation with Rafe. What were you both doing? You had spent so much time trying to keep the lines clear between friendship and responsibility, but now those lines were blurry, tangled up in grief, responsibility, and something more. Something neither of you was ready to face.
When you returned to the kitchen with Willa, Rafe was already plating pancakes. Willa squealed, reaching for the stack with tiny hands, and Rafe chuckled softly, placing a plate in front of her. The warmth between the two of them was undeniable. It was moments like this that made everything worth it, didnât it?
But still, that thing between you and Rafe hung in the air, like a thread waiting to unravel.
You sat down at the table, pushing your plate aside as Willa dug into her breakfast, messy syrup smudging her cheeks. Rafe joined you at the table, not looking at you directly, but you could feel his presence next to you, the space between you both full of the things left unsaid.
The silence was comfortable for now, but you knew it wouldnât stay that way for long.
âDo you ever think about Sarah and John B., like, what they would want for her?â you asked, the question slipping out before you could stop it. It felt like the right thing to say, like an opening to talk about the things neither of you were saying.
Rafeâs shoulders tensed for a moment, but he didnât look away from Willa, watching her eat with intense focus. âYeah,â he replied, his voice a little rough. âAll the time. I think theyâd be happy with how things are going. Theyâd be happy sheâs with us.â
âI hope so,â you said quietly, your voice trailing off as you stared at Willa, wondering if she could ever really understand what had happened. What had been lost.
You cleared your throat, trying to change the subject. âI need to get to the store later. Willaâs almost out of diapers.â
Rafe nodded. âI can go with you. Itâll give us a chance toâwell, you know, get out of the house for a bit. Take a break.â
You were about to respond when Willaâs giggle interrupted once again, drawing both your attention. She had managed to squirt syrup all over the table in her attempt to scoop up the pancake, making a mess. It was impossible not to laugh, and you both found yourselves chuckling together, momentarily breaking through the tension that had built up.
But even as you laughed, the realization hit you like a weight.
This was your new life now. The uncertainty, the grief, the joy, the overwhelming responsibility. And somewhere deep inside, you knew that things had changedâmaybe forever. The question was, what would you both do with it?
You looked at Rafe again, at the small smile tugging at the corner of his lips as he cleaned up the mess Willa had made, and for the first time in what felt like forever, you werenât quite so afraid of what would come next. You couldnât ignore it forever, the pull between you both.
âŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻ
The sun hung high in the sky, casting a warm glow over the streets as you and Rafe walked side by side into the local grocery store. Willa, snug in her stroller, was contentedly gnawing on a teething ring, oblivious to the undercurrent of tension between you and Rafe. The quiet hum of the air conditioning and the sound of shoppers milling around filled the otherwise tense silence.
You grabbed a basket, but as soon as you looked down, you realized you were already second-guessing the list in your head. Diapers. Milk. Fruit for smoothies. Frozen vegetables. Simple things. Yet your mind was so distracted that you had to pause for a second, mentally organizing what you needed.
Rafe pushed the stroller ahead, his hands gripping the handles firmly, his posture stiff, like he was trying to avoid looking at you too directly. You could feel the weight of the unspoken words between you both, like a heavy fog that neither of you had the courage to clear.
âAnything else we need?â Rafeâs voice broke through the quiet, a little sharper than usual.
You glanced at him, noting the way he was trying so hard to keep it together. You couldnât blame him. The last few days had been full of emotional roller coasters, and now here you were, trying to navigate the mundane task of grocery shopping like everything was normal when everything wasnât.
âI think thatâs it,â you answered, trying to keep your tone light. âUnless you want anything special?â
Rafe shook his head. âNo. Letâs just get through this and get back to the house.â
His words were clipped, and you bit back the urge to comment on his attitude. It had been like this for days now: distant, cold, like he was closing off any room for vulnerability. You wanted to reach out to him, to break through the wall he was building, but you didnât know how.
You moved through the aisles, grabbing items on the list, each movement mechanical. The only sound between you was the soft rolling of the stroller as you passed the rows of canned goods and produce. Every now and then, youâd glance over at Rafe, trying to gauge his mood, but he kept his eyes ahead, focused on nothing in particular.
âWillaâs starting to get fussy,â you said after a few minutes, noticing her starting to squirm in the stroller.
Rafe nodded absently. âYeah. Letâs get the last few things and head out.â
You grabbed the milk and some frozen meals, trying to focus on the task at hand. But every time you looked at Rafe, your chest tightened. It was so hard, pretending like nothing had changed between you. Pretending that everything was just as it had been. But the kiss... and everything that had followed after... it had changed something.
Before you could say anything else, Willa started fussing more, her soft cries filling the store. You turned to Rafe, a little frantic.
âI think sheâs hungry.â
Rafe froze for a moment, then looked down at Willa, his face softening just slightly. He reached down, adjusting the straps on the stroller to give her a bit more space. âAlright, we can stop at the cafĂ© on the way back. Get her something.â
You both moved toward the checkout lanes, the silence stretching on, but there was something different in Rafeâs eyes now. A flicker of softness, a crack in the wall heâd built. You tried not to notice, but it was hard to ignore.
Willa continued to fuss as they packed the groceries into bags. Rafe had that look again, like he was still processing something, but he didnât say anything.
As you approached the counter, the cashier gave you a kind smile, scanning your items without a second thought. It was a stark contrast to the tension in your chest, but you forced a smile back, nodding at her as she packed up the last of your things.
Once the transaction was complete, Rafe took the bags without hesitation, moving toward the door. You followed behind, your mind a jumble of confusion and frustration. When you reached the car, you both stood for a moment, the groceries in the trunk, but no one moving.
You stood beside Rafe, looking down at your shoes, unsure of what to say next. The air between you felt charged, heavy with all the things you hadnât said, the things you couldnât say.
âYou know,â Rafe started, breaking the silence, his voice quieter than before. âI donât know how to... how to fix all this.â
You looked up at him, surprised.
âFix what?â you asked, your voice small.
He ran a hand through his hair, sighing deeply. âEverything. I donât know how to make this work. Us. This whole... situation.â
You stood there, the weight of his words sinking in, and for the first time in what felt like weeks, you finally said something that felt honest, raw.
âI donât either,â you admitted, the words spilling out before you could stop them. âBut I donât want to make things harder for you. Or Willa.â
Rafe met your eyes then, and for a moment, there was something in his gazeâsomething soft, almost vulnerable. âI know youâre doing your best. I know youâre here for her. For both of us.â
Your heart skipped at the sincerity in his voice, but it was quickly followed by a wave of confusion. Because part of you wanted to reach out, to tell him how you really felt, but you couldnât shake the fear of what that might do to everything you had worked for. What it might do to Willa.
âI donât want to mess this up, Rafe,â you whispered, looking at Willa, who was now calm and sucking on her pacifier in the backseat. âI donât want to mess her up.â
He was quiet for a moment before he exhaled a slow breath. âI donât think we will. Weâll figure it out... together.â
It wasnât a promise, but it was enough. For now.
You both climbed into the car, driving back to the house in a silence that was more comfortable than before.Â
âŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻ
The house was quiet, save for the soft hum of the air conditioner and the occasional creak of the floorboards as you moved around the kitchen. Willa was napping peacefully, her little body curled up in the bassinet, oblivious to the tension that had been hanging in the air between you and Rafe.
You had just returned from the grocery store, and as you set the bags on the kitchen counter, you noticed Rafe standing in the doorway, watching you. His eyes were unreadable, but there was something different about the way he was looking at youâless guarded, more open.
âYou need help with those?â Rafe asked, his voice quiet but steady.
You glanced up at him, surprised by his offer. Normally, he'd keep to himself, sticking to his routine without offering much assistance, but something had shifted. You nodded, handing him a couple of bags.
Together, you unloaded the groceries in silence, the rhythmic sound of cans and boxes hitting the counter the only noise between you. You both moved in tandem, a comfortable choreography born from living together for the past few months. But despite the ease of the task, the air felt thick with something unspoken.
Finally, Rafe broke the silence.
âYou know,â he began, his voice hesitant but firm, âOn the drive back, Iâve been thinking a lot about... everything. About us.â
You paused mid-task, glancing over at him. Your heart skipped a beat as you watched him struggle with the words, as though each one weighed a thousand pounds.
âI donât want to make this harder than it already is,â he said, his voice low. âI know weâve both got baggage... and... Iâm not exactly the best at this whole thing. But I... I want to try, [Y/N]. I want to try with you. With this... with us.â
You froze, your hands stilling as you processed his words. The intensity in his gaze made your stomach flip, and for a moment, all you could hear was the beat of your own heart.
âI... donât know what to say,â you whispered, your voice barely audible.
Rafe took a step closer, his presence commanding but not overwhelming. âIâm saying that I want something more. Something real. I donât want to keep running from it. From this.â
You could feel the raw sincerity in his words, the vulnerability he rarely showed. It made your chest tighten, and for a moment, you wanted to reach out to him, to pull him closer. But the fear of what this could meanâwhat it could changeâheld you back.
âYou donât have to say anything right now,â Rafe added quickly, as if he was afraid of pushing you too hard. âBut I need you to know that Iâm not gonna mess it up. Not this time. Iâve made plenty of mistakes, but Iâm trying. Iâm trying with you, with Willa... with everything.â
You swallowed hard, the weight of his words settling deep within you. Part of you wanted to argue, to tell him that it wasnât that simpleâthat you couldnât just forget the past. But another part of you was listening to him, seeing the sincerity in his eyes. And maybe, just maybe, it was enough to believe him.
âIâm scared, Rafe,â you admitted, your voice shaky. âIâm scared of what this could mean. What if we mess it all up? What ifââ
He cut you off, taking a step forward, his hand gently resting on your arm. âWe wonât,â he said firmly. âWeâll take it slow. Together.â
For the first time in a long while, you felt the weight of your fears lighten, just a little. You looked at him, really looked at himâat the man who had been so closed off, the man who had fought to protect Willa, the man who had shown you a side of him you hadnât known existed.
âI donât want to be scared anymore,â you whispered, your hand reaching out to brush against his. âI donât want to keep pretending that this doesnât feel right.â
Rafeâs eyes softened, and he took your hand, his grip firm but gentle. âThen donât,â he murmured. âLetâs stop pretending.â
You leaned into him, your heart racing as you closed the distance between you. The tension that had plagued the air for weeks finally began to dissipate, replaced by something warm and real.
âIâm here, [Y/N],â Rafe said softly, his breath warm against your forehead as he pressed a kiss there, tender and full of meaning. âIâm not going anywhere.â
âŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻ
The kiss had started slow, tender, a quiet acknowledgment of everything you had both been holding back for so long. The kind of kiss that said more than words ever could. Rafeâs hand cupped your face, the warmth of his touch grounding you as you let go of all the fears and doubts that had kept you from this moment.
You kissed him back, more fiercely now, your body moving closer to his, as if you could erase all the distance that had once been between you. The connection between you was undeniable, electric, and suddenly the weight of everything else seemed to disappearâjust for a moment, just for this time.
Rafeâs hands slid down your back, pulling you closer, and you let him, feeling the heat building between you. It felt natural, like it was always meant to be like this. And then, in a blur of desire and need, you were in his arms, his lips trailing along your neck as your hands tugged at his shirt, pulling him closer still.
But before you could lose yourself in the moment, a small, sudden cry from the other room sliced through the air, sharp and unrelenting.
âWilla...â you breathed, a pang of guilt washing over you as you pulled away from Rafe.
He froze too, his chest rising and falling rapidly, his expression conflicted as he glanced toward the door. âShe... sheâs probably just waking up,â he muttered, though the uncertainty in his voice was unmistakable.
Another cry, louder this time. It was followed by the sound of small hands hitting the sides of the bassinet, desperate and frantic. You both exchanged a brief look, the desire lingering in the space between you, but reality had already set in.
Rafe cursed softly under his breath and stood up, grabbing the hem of his shirt and pulling it over his head in one swift motion. You quickly followed, adjusting yourself and standing as well, feeling the absence of him already, though you couldnât ignore the ache in your chest.
âIâll get her,â you said, your voice still breathless from the intensity of the moment. You took a deep breath, trying to steady yourself as you made your way to the nursery.
Rafe hesitated for just a moment, as if unsure of what to do, but then followed you. When you reached Willaâs room, she was indeed wide awake, her little face scrunched up in distress, her tiny hands reaching out for comfort.
âHey, hey, Willa, itâs okay,â you cooed softly, lifting her from the bassinet and cradling her against your chest. âYouâre alright, sweet girl. Iâm here.â
Rafe lingered in the doorway, his gaze lingering on the two of you, and for a moment, it felt like everything was right. The warmth of the love you shared for Willa seemed to wrap around all three of you. But even in the quiet moments like this, the pull between you and Rafe was undeniable. The intimacy that had just been interrupted now hung heavily in the air, unanswered, unfinished.
âI think sheâs just hungry,â you murmured, bouncing her lightly in your arms as you moved toward the small kitchen area. âIâll feed her.â
Rafe nodded, his eyes still on you, though now there was a softness there. The tension between you had melted, but it hadnât disappeared. It lingered, a silent promise between you both that things were about to change.
He walked up to you and gently brushed a stray lock of hair behind your ear, his touch tender. âWeâll get back to that,â he said quietly, a playful yet earnest glint in his eyes.
You smiled, your heart racing in your chest, both from the emotions swirling inside you and the overwhelming sense of longing for more. You hadnât expected any of thisâhadnât expected things to escalate so quickly, or for the intensity of your feelings to come flooding to the surface. But it felt right. In that moment, you knew it was just the beginning of something deeper.
âWe will,â you promised, gazing at him with more certainty than you had in a long time.
And as Willa nursed in your arms, her cries now subsided into soft, contented suckles, you both stood togetherâquiet, connected, yet aware of the complicated path you still had ahead. But for now, it didnât matter. In that fleeting moment, it was just the three of you.

hi, I hope you are well!
i have a askk
what about Genshin Impact characters with a fem!reader who has powers similar to Gojo Satoru?
Hey! Sorry for the late delivery đ
You didn't specify which characters you wanted so I just put the ones I thought fit on my proposal đ
Characters: Wanderer (Scaramouche), Lisa, Diluc, Xiao, Thoma, Lumine/Aether (both travelers).
Content: It can be interpreted as platonic or romantic, some swear words perhaps, mention of violence typical of the Jujutsu Kaisen canon, reader is gn but more like male because Gojo is a man.
Comments and reblogs are very welcome âĄ
[Name] was a complex individual. He/She came to Teyvat along with the traveler, apparently being from a noble family from his/her and the traveler's original world. Yet, his/her incredibly strong strength and abilities coupled with his/her arrogant personality make the residents of Teyvat confused.
"What the f*ck are you doing?" Wanderer, or Scara, as you call him against his will, while you two were on a mission, looking for mint for the traveler.
"Can't you see? Water fall! Hehe~" you laughed foolishly as your technique prevented the water from reaching you, making a small waterfall above your head.
Scara let out a sound similar to a grunt mixed with a deep sigh.
"Why in the world traveler just have to put me with you?"
âOh, stop complaining. I bet youâre secretly having fun.â
âHaving fun? What in Teyvat makes you think thatâs fun?â Scara narrowed his eyes at [Name], clearly exasperated.
âWell, youâre still here, arenât you? If you really wanted to leave, you would have found a way by now.â
For a moment, the Wanderer was silent, his prepared response dying in his throat. He stared at the waterfall, and as much as he wanted to deny it, there was something... comforting about the scene. Something so simple, yet so absurdly peaceful that he couldn't help but let his guard down a little. He looked away, sulking.
"You're insufferable." he finally muttered, though his voice sounded less sharp.
"That sounds like a compliment coming from you!" [Name] replied with a wink.
Scara gave him a long, sharp look. "If you don't find the mint in ten minutes, I'll throw you under the waterfall for real."
The traveler was worried that you would end up killing each other. Surprisingly, you are always cursing each other but you have never gotten physical.
Perhaps it helped that the traveler made it clear to the Wanderer that you were the strongest in your world. Scara is not stupid, he doesn't pick fights with the stronger ones. Yet, he learned a lot about the kind of person you are.
"I'd like to find those artifact books before the traveler gets mad at me. I mean, Lumine/Aether can even cry!" [Name] said with an overly dramatic air, leaning forward slightly as she stared at Jean.
Jean just shook her head and sighed. Despite everything, a slight smile played at the corners of her lips, evidence that she did, in fact, find [Name]'s antics amusing.
"You never miss a chance to put on a show, do you?" Jean commented.
At the top of the stairs, Lisa watched the exchange with a mix of amusement and curiosity.
Leaning against the banister, she looks at [Name]. âHmm, if I were crying, would you comfort me? Honestly, I would love that.â
[Name] looked up at Lisa, eyes shining with provocation. âAh, Lisa, but you never cry! Youâre too strong for that.â
âAha, really?â Lisa smiled and laughed softly.
When Traveler asked if you really thought Lisa was that strong or were joking, you just shrugged.
Honestly, Lisa could be really strong!... or it could be pure flattery too, who knows?
âWhat kind of bartender doesnât like alcohol?â [Name] asked, arching an eyebrow as watched Diluc with a wry smile, fiddling with the dessert glass you had just finished devouring.
Diluc paused for a moment, the cloth falling onto the counter with a restrained sigh. He stared at [Name] with an expression that was on the edge of patience, his eyes narrowed. "I don't think you're the ideal person to judge me," Diluc retorted, his fingers touching the glass gently. "Being the psychotic for sweets that you are, I mean."
You made a dramatic movement of placing your hand over your chest, simulating an expression of exaggerated offense.
"Aaah, but that has nothing to do with it! I don't own a wine cellar!" You replied, turning your face away.
"If I work as a gravedigger, do I need to be buried?" Diluc said dryly, placing the glass back on the shelf with precision.
"That doesn't even make sense!" [Name] exclaimed, shrugging. "You're just making things up because you have no arguments." the sarcasm was clear in your voice, but there was also a subtle glint in your eyes that suggested you was enjoying the exchange.
Diluc let out a sigh, looking more tired than irritated.
"Tell me, [Name], why exactly is someone who clearly doesn't enjoy alcohol here in my wine cellar, filling my counter with candy crumbs?" he asked, taking a step towards the counter to organize the bottles with meticulous precision.
[Name] made a dramatic gesture with the hands, smiling teasingly. "Oh, it's nothing. I just like looking at your face and your red hair~"
Diluc huffed, crossing his arms and glaring at [Name] with a mixture of irritation and resignation. â[Name], donât you have anything better to do than break into my wine cellar and distract me while I work?â he asked, his tone exasperated but low enough not to draw the attention of his employees.
âNo, actually, I donât,â [Name] replied, with a mischievous smile that contrasted with Dilucâs scowl. âBesides, you have to admit that company does lighten the mood of this place. Itâs so⊠melancholy. It seems like someone here is carrying a lot of grief.â
Dilucâs eyes narrowed, but he didnât bite at the provocation. He slung the cloth over his shoulder and grabbed a fresh bottle of wine to organize the shelves, turning his attention back to his work. âIf you think this place is gloomy, maybe you shouldnât be here. Iâm sure Jean or Albedo would love to hear your unnecessary comments elsewhere.â
âBut neither of them have that hair,â [Name] replied, plucking an imaginary strand out of the air and twirling his fingers theatrically. âYou know, you could use a little more lightheartedness. Maybe I should bring you some sweets next time. Something that matches your hidden charm.â
âI donât need a lightheartedness, and certainly not your sweets scattered all over the counter,â Diluc retorted, finally turning to face him. âWhy are you really here, [Name]? It canât be just to tease me.â
[Name]âs expression changed for a moment, the playful smile softening. âMaybe I enjoy your company, Diluc. Itâs refreshing to see someone so⊠genuine. No matter how grumpy they are.â
Diluc was silent for a few seconds, his red eyes fixed on the you. He sighed, as if admitting a silent defeat, and went back to work. "Do whatever you want. Just don't leave any more crumbs on my counter."
[Name] laughed, leaning forward to support him with her elbows. "I knew that deep down you like me, redhead. You just don't know how to admit it."
"In your dreams..." Diluc replied, but the corner of his mouth almost threatened to form a smile.
You're honestly annoying. But he likes you. But he doesn't admit it.
"You really don't talk much, do you?" [Name] commented, leaning forward a little. "But that's okay, I'm good enough for two." Your voice was filled with a confidence that didn't go unnoticed.
"I'm also the type who doesn't have the patience for a long silence. In my world, being the strongest is something that comes naturally. No one dares to doubt that, and I can assure you that my power is something... unquestionable."
âYou talk too much.â Xiao finally replied, his voice low and somewhat harsh, as natural of his voice. âAnd yet⊠you have no idea what it means to truly carry the weight of eternity.â He pause. âI am a Yaksha, you know. We are more than just strength.â
"You have this aura of mystery, this... silence one. I'm very good at noticing details. And you, my friend, are full of them." You say, your tone naturally laden with arrogance, but Xiao sharpens his eyes.
"Very presumptuous for someone young." Xiao says, but shakes his head in the end.
It may not seem like it, but he is not bothered by your presence.
You tend to talk a lot, he honestly doesn't mind. It may seem like he's not listening, but he is.
He cares about you. Even though you keep saying that you are the strongest in your world. He wasn't around to see your displays of power, so he doesn't believe it.
He knows your arrogance will get you into trouble. That's why he's always around.
âThoma, itâs been a while!â [Name] exclaimed with a wide smile, your eyes shining with amusement as you saw Thomaâs blond head in the distance at the shop where the Kamisato Clanâs caretaker was buying some items for the day.
Your voice echoed through the street, carrying an unmistakable confidence, as if you had just met an old friend after a long period of absence.
Thoma, who had been distracted by picking out some ingredients for dinner, looked up quickly, immediately recognizing [Name]âs presence. He smiled back, his expression friendly and relaxed, his eyes sparkling with a hint of humor.
âOh, ah! [Name]!â he exclaimed, raising one of his hands in greeting. He took a step towards [Name], with his usual welcoming smile.
"How have you been, Thoma?" [Name] asked with a mischievous smile. "Continuing your mission to solve all the problems in Inazuma, as always?"
Thoma, for his part, chuckled softly, leaning forward slightly, his eyes shining with amusement. âI try. But what about you? Howâs life in Teyvat? Still enjoying your⊠âgamesâ?â Thomaâs tone was friendly, in no rush to get serious about any conversation, but it was also a bit teasing. He knew [Name] had a tendency to make fun of situations and people, though he could also tell that behind that arrogance was something else, something more human.
âAh, you know⊠Life is much more interesting when you can joke around with others. I canât help but be amused by the situations you and your Kamisato Clan get yourselves into.â
Thoma laughed, his smile now wider, he had grown accustomed to this dynamic of teasing and teasing between them. "I know, I know. But if you need help with any problems, you know where to find me."
"I know," [Name] replied, smile turning into a more relaxed expression, but still with a glint of mischief in the eyes. "I just hope you don't get into too much trouble with your duties. I don't want you to be too busy to help me when I need it."
You two act like you've known each other for ages. It honestly surprises everyone around.
Thoma cares about you just like Xiao does, but he personally believes that you are capable of handling yourself even without ever seeing your displays of power.
You've known each other for a long time. A really long time. Like, since birth.
Aether knows you like the back of his hand. Your family has always been rich and famous in the world you came from, your clan being the largest. Yet, you know the twins by literally sneaking them into your house.
"Come on, come up!" A child [Name] insists at the small window of your room. Aether was crouched on the lawn and whimpered.
"I canât do it! It's too high!" Aether says.
"Ugh, you crybaby!" [Name] grumbles.
You then start to rummage through your room looking for something. You grab a stool, quickly climbing onto it and leaning against the window. "Give me your hand."
"U-Uhh, but what if I fall??" Aether says hesitantly.
"Hurry up!"
Even though he was scared, Aether closed his eyes tightly and grabbed [Name]'s hand.
"I won't let go. I'll never let go." [Name]'s words made Aether open his eyes, seeing those deep vibrant blue eyes, and a smile. Not malicious like usual, but honest. "See? You don't have to be afraid of anything."
You didn't really let go of him. You never let go of him.
And he couldn't be happier about it.
You two will find Lumine. And you all will go home, together.
âTsk, this is ridiculous.â [Name]âs voice was cold, but filled with a quiet anger that made even Lumine feel uncomfortable.
You had always been the type of person to keep himself in control, but when your emotions boiled over, it was clear how unpredictable you could be. Lumine watched as your made impatient gestures, she can count on one hand the times she's seen you so upset.
âThat fatui trash thinks he can mess with you? Good news, he CANNOT,â [Name] continued, voice a bit louder than usual, revealing a fierce anger that rarely displayed.
You was referring to Tartaglia, who had tried to approach Lumine with a sly smile, his intentions veiled, as always. Lumine didnât respond right away.
She leaned forward a little, looking at him with a surprised expression.
âWhy are you so upset about this?â she asked.
âBecause no one has the right to treat you that way,â you said, still carrying an inner strength that could not be ignored. âI will not allow some piece of weak trash to think he can do whatever he wants.â
âYou really need to stop getting so angry over that small thing.â Lumine says, but quickly shakes her head. "I can take care of myself, you know."
âI know you can defend yourself, Lumine, but sometimes the world needs to remember whoâs really in control.â [Nome] spoke with renewed confidence, but this time it was more of a statement than a threat.
"You don't have to worry, [Name]. I can take care of myself." Lumine said in a soft but firm tone.
[Name] watched her for a moment, and for a brief second, the gaze softened. "I know, Lumine. I know." You finally murmured.
Like, yeah. No one messes with the ones you care about.

cinderella (english name her employer gave her taken from a bad gloss of her chinese name) went to america one ship ahead of the rest of her family to join her father, who was supposed to have built his fortune working on the transcontinental railroad, but when she got there she found her father had died and the company kept all his earnings, and the chinese exclusion act has come down behind her and sent the rest of her family back at the harbor. as her familyâs only remaining foothold outside of their drought-stricken hometown, she decides to step into the role of her father and earn money for the rest of her family so they can have a place to come if and when the act is lifted. she would do hard labor if she could, but with her bound feet she canât work anywhere outside of a laundry that horribly mistreats its employees. cinderella wants to form a union, but without financial backing and media attention their boss will just fire them all and hire a batch of willing scabs.
meanwhile the prince is the beau of high society, but her parents, whose sensibilities and experiences as german jewish immigrants make them far more scandal-averse than their flamboyant child, desperately want her to settle down and marry and please stop picking girls up in bars itâs getting difficult to keep your name out of the papers. they give the prince an ultimatum: either you can get married and become someone elseâs problem, or weâre cutting you off completely. the prince has proven severely allergic to all forms of matchmaking and has no romantic prospects that last longer than a week, so to sweeten the pot (from the parentsâ perspective) or twist the knife (from the princeâs) they throw a grand coming-out ball with invitations open to all of san francisco. the prince shows up to the ball supremely unhappy and looking for oscar wilde to liven up the place, when she catches sight of a gorgeous guest certain to stir up some drama: cinderella, who had stolen a suit from the laundromat, borrowed a walking stick, and stuffed menâs shoes with newspaper to find a sponsor at the ball. the two meet, and itâs mutual benefit at first sight.
the bargain goes as such: the prince will support cinderellaâs efforts to organize a union if cinderella shows up to every event the prince is invited to and makes a whole act of their seduction and forbidden love. the prince will never learn cinderellaâs real name; from the union side, the prince will deal with the chinese laundressâs union as a body, and from the society side cinderella will always appear as âmr. chan,â and if anything goes wrong mr. chan will cease to exist and all traces of collusion will vanish with him. but of course things are never so simple. as time goes on the prince becomes more and more invested in union building, and cinderella becomes more influential in high societyâno matter how professional they try to stay, feelings between them start to grow.
but when a rising politicianâs anti-chinese platform causes the minor affairs of mr. chan and the chinese laundressâs union to explode into major, violent scandal, the princeâs parents tell their daughter very clearly: we will host a soirĂ©e. at this soirĂ©e, you will announce your engagement, or else you will be on a train to your aunt in ann arbor the next morning. the prince explains the situation to cinderella and asks her if she would be willing to come. there is a curfew for chinese people at midnight, but she doesnât have to stay that late. just long enough to say goodbye. against her very good better judgement, cinderella agrees.
mr. chan shows up to the soirĂ©e, the last social engagement she can ever attend. she gives the prince a scripted, dispassionate greeting and says her carefully chosen parting words to key figures in the room. the prince approaches her in private and asks her if she could spare one last dance. cinderella knows that everything she has worked for for her family and her union sisters could be on the line, but she still agrees. they dance in a side room, music muffled through the wall, and they lose all track of timeâuntil the clock strikes midnight. in a panic, cinderella grabs her cane and hat and runs from their house.
mr. chan has ceased to exist. they had always decided their meeting locations and times in advance, soâjust as they had plannedâthe prince no longer has any way to find cinderella. the only thing she has is a manâs shoe stuffed full of newsprint that had fallen off on the front steps of their home.
but that is enough. running away from the train station, the prince uses the newspapers stuffed into the shoe to calculate where in the city cinderella works. she finds the laundry, barges inside, the humidity staining her fine starched collar and frizzing up her carefully combed hair. the laundry is full of workers, their heads lowered and their faces obscured with steam. the prince watches for a while. she falls on one of the workers. it is her cinderella, whom she cannot leave, and she does not: she accepts her parentsâ disownment and builds a life for herself in san francisco, and cinderella builds a life with her, and the two of them attend union meetings and send letters and money home and dance to the gramophone, happy ever after
cinderella remake set in 1880s san francisco where cinderella is a chinese immigrant with bound feet and also sheâs a butch lesbian and the prince is a butch lesbian too but sheâs a paris-educated german-american socialite and a darling of the transatlantic arts and literary world so the connotations of her gender nonconformity are completely different. oscar wilde is there

dad!matt blurb - reader comes home to matt supporting june's new obsession with dogs.
"Matt... what are you doing?" I ask as I emerge from the hallway before spotting June sitting on our bed, flailing her tiny arms in a oversized hooded dog towel.
"Mama's home!" Matt beams at June and she squeals, the hood slipping over her eyes before he gently adjusts it, making sure the ears sit right.Â
I stare at them, trying my best to keep a straight face. "I leave the house for a couple hours, and youâve turned our daughter into a dog?" I deadpan, half-serious, leaning against the doorway,
"Donât pin this on me," he says with mock seriousness. "This was all Junie's idea. She picked out her new towel,"
"Picked it out?" I repeat sarcastically, putting all my stuff down. "Matt, she's eight months old." I point out, trying not to laugh when I see the hood swallow her head again.
She looks so happy, her little legs kicking like she's having the time of her life.
Matt shrugs, still grinning. "Look, she loves it, I couldn't resist." He sits next to her on the bed.Â
Ever since Junie met Madison's dogs, Presley and Toast, she's been obsessed with dogs. Seeing them play together had her laughing hysterically. Plus, they're so good with her, so patient. Now, even when we go on our daily walks in the park, her face lights up at the sight of every dog we pass.
Matt can't wait until we go back to Boston so she can see Trevor again with her new-found love of dogs.
I shake my head, walking over to them and get a closer look at our little "puppy." She looks up at me with her big blue eyes, babbling happily, showing off her bottom two teeth.
"Do you like it Junie?" I ask her as she reaches for me, tugging on my shirt to lift herself up.
"Mamamamama" she mumbles, standing up with her grip on me. I instantly place my hands on either side of her incase she loses balance, even though she'll fall right on the bed if she did.Â
Matt watches proudly, his eyes wide, "Look at you go, kid," he praises, moving to stand behind me, hands on his hips.Â
"Good job, baby," I encourage her, laughing when she squeezes her eyes shut and tosses her head back with excitement. She's nearly falls back on her bum but I steady her, keeping her close to me. Her towel falls away and I see her clad in a new matching puppy print PJ set.
I smirk and look to Matt, "Let me guess...she picked this out too?"
"Nope, that one was all me." He says proudly.
She's been standing while holding onto things recently. The first time she did it was actually around Chris a couple weeks ago, and he nearly lost his mind.
Matt had driven Nick to the warehouse to work on a project and Chris stood back to give me a hand watching June as I got my own work done in the old podcast studio.
When I heard him call my name frantically, my heart dropped, thinking the worst. But when I came downstairs, I found him frozen on the couch, arms out, eyes wide and staring at Junie, who was standing up, gripping the arm of the couch for balance.Â
"She's never done that before, right?" He laughs in shock, grabbing his phone out to film as my hands cover my mouth.
I shake my head, "No... Junie, where did you learn that? You're making Mama nervous," I said, half-laughing, slowly making my way toward her as she smiles at me without a care in the world.
"I swear on my life, I looked away for less than a minute. She was just playing with her toys on the mat and the next minute she's standing." he recounts, still in shock and I sit down on the floor next to June who moves immediately to my lap.Â
"Guess we gotta get to baby-proofing," I joke, biting at June's hand playfully when she reaches for my face.
When Matt got home and heard what happened, he was so mad he missed it. He tried everything to get her to do it againâputting her toys on the coffee table, the couch, even trying to get her to stand while holding his fingers. But each time, she'd just plop right back down, giving him a cheeky grin.
She always manages to stand whenever we're not lookingâalmost as if she knows how much we want to catch her in the act.
But today, I guess she's ready to be a show-off.
She bounces a bit on her little legs and looks over at Matt, her face bright with excitement. He praises her softly, his voice full of pride, and she giggles in delight, soaking up every bit of the attention.
"Standing before you even crawl... you gotta slow down, June-bug." I say to her playfully, as she looks between Matt and I.
"She's about ready to walk," Matt says, letting her grab his finger for more balance.
"Don't say that," I murmur, a pang of bittersweetness in my chest as I watch them. "She's my baby."
"She'll always be your baby," He reminds me softly, kissing my forehead. I scoop her into my arms at that moment and smother her cheek with kisses, squeezing her tight to me.
Then, to my surprise, she scrunches her little face and sniffles, leaning forward to sniff at mine, just like Presley always does to her.
I burst into laughter, my head tossing back, "Oh my God, Matt, did you teach her this?"
Matt chuckles, hands in the air in mock defense. "I swear I didnât! I think Presleyâs just rubbing off on her."
I giggle, but wince as Junie decides to tug at a fistful of my hair.
I'm going to be bald by the time I'm 24.
"Hey, hey, easy kid," Matt says softly, stepping forward to help.Â
He gently pries Junie's surprisingly strong grip from my hair, his face twisting with a mix of concentration and sympathy as he carefully untangles her tiny fingers.Â
"She's got a real talent for that," he jokes, gently rubbing the tender spot where my hair was tugged.Â
I huff, adjusting Junie on my hip after sweeping my hair onto my other shoulder, far from her reach.Â
Junie babbles in response, her tiny hands smacking against my chest, gripping my necklace instead. Matt takes the opportunity to lean in and blow a raspberry on her cheek, making her squeal with delight and let up her grip on my necklace. Her giggles are contagious, and I find myself laughing along with her.
"Youâre a little menace, kid." I tease, kissing her on the top of her head. "A cute one, though."

sarah finally meeting high school gf!au reader and maybe reader is super excited but also nervous bc she wants this to go well for rafe and sarah so badly
ÂĄI hope Iâve interpreted this right!
Iâve kind of touched on this before, but Sarah and high school gf have always had a good relationship. For a long time, Sarah was all high school gf had when Rafe was out, unavailable and unwilling to partake in the raising of his son. They spent hours cooped up in Tannyhill together, dealing with a screaming baby and learning how to take care of baby together. Sarah had always liked Rafeâs girlfriend, thinking she was far too sweet for him and surprisingly kind and gentle - not at all the type she thought Rafe would go for. When she heard her brother and high school gf were going to be parents at 18, she was so disappointed, but she knew she couldnât just leave her alone. High school gf had always been kind to Sarah, spending time with her when Rafe was out and Topper suddenly decided to cancel his and Sarahâs date. The pair would watch movies together and gossip, and then one day their gossip changed from boys to babies.
So when Rafe did what he did to Sarah (not that high school gf was aware) and she pulled away from him and their family, the older girl was heartbroken. Sarah was her family, and now she was gone. They would often see each other around the island and have small conversations, maybe a quick greeting from Charlie, but nothing like they used to. She knows Sarah isnât ready to speak to Rafe again, and she honestly doesnât blame her.
When Sarah showed up at their door in season 4, sheâs secretly ecstatic. She knows how much this means to both of the Cameron siblings and when she grabs Emmy from Rafeâs lap, she canât help the tremor in her hands as she picks her daughter up. Sheâs so nervous. High school gf places Emmy on her playmat in the lounge room and presses herself against the open balcony doors, desperate to hear the conversation. Itâs not what she wants to hear, to be truthful, but itâs progress. At least theyâre in the same room as each other - thatâs more than can be said for the past 18 months.
Before Sarah goes, she gives high school gf a hug, squeezing her tightly. Theyâve both missed each other so much and being separated was hard on both of them. Not to mention how much they miss Wheezie. Wheezie loved her nephew more than anyone, they used to say. Sarah has her found family with the pogues, but before them, she had her sister-in-law. She asks Sarah to come around again sometime soon, but when she hesitates, she suggests brunch at a cafe instead. To her relief, Sarah smiles and nods at her and the pair make tentative plans.
The born Cameron and the wedded Cameron have both been through a lot, but they have always found a lot of peace and security in each other and for them to begin to rebuild that is so important and valuable to them.
Sarah and High School Gf are each others number one supporters!!!! My girls!

It's horrible too if Jinx lives!!
OK, I guess we're doing this?
People keep coming at me for my post about Jinx dying being terrible writing and promoting suicide by heroics as a valid way out, and the argument is always "Actually, Jinx is alive because XYZ"
So let me makes myself clear : if Jinx lives, it's also terrible writing!!
Because for all intent and purposes, she DOES DIE! Even if she's alive and fucked off in that blimp, she's still dead to everyone who knew and loved her.
WORSE! Vi will go on thinking for the rest of her life that Jinx died because of her, or at the very least that she couldn't save her.
It's not for no reason that Vi has this scene in the cell with Caitlyn, where she says she always choses wrong. In the scene on the crumbling metal beam, Vi choses not to listen to Jinx!
People got in my comments saying I have no humanity for reproving Vi picking "Vander's corpse" over Jinx. But what we see happen is Jinx telling Vi multiple time to get away and how to get to safety, and Vi completely ignoring her to interact with Vander/WW, only for him to wake up, attack her, and force Jinx to risk her life to save Vi.
Vi made a choice, between more time with Vander and listening to Jinx, and the price paid in the end is Jinx dying.
What if she lived and escaped? Vi doesn't know that! Ekko doesn't know that! Or Sevika! Or anyone!
Thought exercise time: close your eyes and imagine a relative disappearing for your life after a lethal accident you're involved in. You never recover a body and never see them again. How do you feel about it? Mmh?
"Oh but Caitlyn sees the schematics that show a side tunnelâŠ"
Firstly, Caitlyn was nowhere near the event, and she can't frame-by-frame the explosion as we do, so you can hardly claim she's looking for Jinx and not, for example, the arcane gem, or Warwick.
Vander/WW was shown to be entirely impervious to the bullets from Jinx's automatic gun. If anyone has a chance of surviving, it'd be him.
But do you know what? If Jinx is in that blimp, and Caitlyn then tells Vi, "From the schematic, I think your sister could have escaped" (ignoring entirely the fact that Jinx should be cut in half by WW's claws wrapped around her waist), then what would happen???
That would send Vi on a wild goose's chase!! How many years would she spend hunting through Zaun trying to find her sister? How many years until she starts resenting Caitlyn for giving her false hope? How many years until she's forced to accept Jinx isn't anywhere, and so must have died back then, and has to see herself as Jinx's killer all over again??
How is this good for Vi?
And Ekko? He pulled her out of suicide what? 5 times? Had some epic bonding with her painting all over each other, doing self-care and hair dyes and fixing a balloon so they could go on a big attack together.
Maybe he thought he could genuinely finally be close to his world's Powder. Silco just taught him the greatest thing he can do is forgive, and the girl he forgives fakes her death and runs away?
They're barely 20 ffs, Jinx would have plenty of time to struggle on the road to recovery, especially with his help. What if Ekko was ready to be there along the way with her? What about him?
How is it good if Jinx is NOT dead but has NOT told him? What difference does it make to him? She's dead for Ekko, and if he learns later on that she faked her death, all he'll know is that HE wasn't worth her staying. He wasn't even worth telling the truth to!!!
It's fucked! It's not healthy!! Jinx could have her ending removing herself from Zaun without having to fake her death.
But hang on, it gets worse!
Because it's straight up not good writing even on the meta level.
Arcane has millions of viewers. Nobody I know IRL thinks Jinx is alive. Plenty of people in my notes agree she's dead. Do you know what millions of people think? That she is dead!!! Because it's the TEXT OF THE SHOW.
Millions of fans will think Jinx was killed off, because they aren't willing to go frame by frame, extrapolating and make-believing their way into thinking she is alive. Most fans are normal people who aren't terminally online, theorycrafting all day long.
Most normal fans have moved on to watch Dune Prophecy or Sweetpea. And if Jinx comes out alive in another show, the "Somehow Palpatine Jinx returned" memes will abound.
Let's go over the common elements brought forth as arguments.
Jinx uses pink and blue in that bomb, and pink is how she gets away "quick".
No? The bomb she attached to Thieram in season 1 was pink and it was all for glitter and harassment. There is no strong canon association of meaning. If you watch frame by frame, there is a pink "light gleam" over the first blue detonation followed by a very large pink blast and ZERO smoke trails or anything indication someone getting away. Jinx uses the same bomb she used to kill herself very effectively earlier in the show, so we have no indication it wouldn't kill her here too.
We can see the inside of her bomb when she kills herself (with the two liquid vials) and it's the same she uses on Vander/WW and herself.
Besides, even if she used some part of the explosion to get away, WW's claws are around her like this:
She'd be bisected in half.
So some people say that means that Warwick is also alive and let her go! But no. That's make-believe. That's fanon, 100%. The TEXT of the show is that Vander is burnt away (we see the final image of himself burning up) and he has just attacked Vi, trying to kill her. We have no indication he'd want to spare Jinx here.
HOWEVER, he's literally bullet proof, so if there's anything we can conclude is that he's likely to be the one to have made it into a shaft and to safety.
Speaking of shafts: the next argument is that Caitlyn is looking at the tower's schematics to hint that she suspects Jinx lives.
Maybe, but you are reading a character's mind. We see her look at schematics while holding the monkey bomb head, yes, but you don't know what she's thinking, and if the show runners don't make it explicit, then Cait's thoughts about an explosion she hasn't even witnessed aren't worth much. She could think Warwick lived. OR she could think, despite not witnessing the fight, that Jinx lived. But she doesn't KNOW, she doesn't tell us, and so you are INVENTING the thoughts of a character to mean what you want it to mean.
This would be a lot more meaningful if it were Vi investigating this.
There's a blimp going away, it has blue smoke, and then it ends with a Jinx glitch.
No. There is a blimp going away, slowly, without any blue smoke. It's also THE EXACT SAME ONE that opens Season 1 act 1.
Instead of coming towards Piltover, it now is leaving over the sea. This can be fully interpreted as a sign that the hextech era is over. Blimps have to travel the old fashioned way again. It's also going away from Piltover/Zaun, symbolizing future stories taking place there.
Finally, the glitch is 3 frames long and spells "the End". IDK why the fact that it's a little Jinxy means anything to anyone. The end of credits for season 1 was Jinxy as well, and it could simply be about keeping the same visual identity and not a sign of Jinx being alive???
If I wanted to play subtext games, I could say "Wow Jinx writing "the end" would be appropriate if she were dead" and reverse the argument.
Finally, and the thing in most poor taste, IMO.
Jinx kills herself several times in the opening of the episode, and a sad emo song plays over it, with sad fucked up lyrics. Then Ekko comes and pulls her from thisâŠ
Only for that EXACT same song to be played while she and Vander/WW fall. They are both crying. Vi is crying and screaming while these lyrics are playing!!
If I could just lay my head down and rest. If there was nothing to fight or protect. Maybe then I could finally be free. Maybe death is like falling asleep. This world is a wasteland where nothing can grow. I used to have strength but I ran out of hope. I know it's my fault that I'm here all alone. This world is a wasteland. Please let me go. Go, go, go. Please let me go.
This is literally singing about suicide. When you say "Maybe death is like falling asleep" over the animation of a character pulling the pin, you are not dealing in subtext or metaphor of any kind.
One of the earlier shots literally has her framed in broken glass among shards that are WARWICK'S MAW. It's like a hint of her death being killed by him, furthering the parallel.
And I think it is in very bad taste to have suicide apologia music playing over characters screaming and bawling (Vi)
while others cry (Jinx and WW)
and a bomb goes off (with no hint of survival),
only for some of y'all to come around acting like Cait glowering at a blueprint and a recuring blimp all means Jinx is alive...
It would be grief porn on the part of the writers. It would mean slamming us in our feelings in a brutal way, in an ugly way, while playing a suicide song, only to turn around and say "Syke! didn't you get that Cait is suspicious about Jinx so it totally means it was all a fakeout?"
I don't want a fake-out at this point!! Why would I?? It's legit worse! Because then it means they couldn't spare 5min of animation time to have her rescued by Ekko and being on the mend with him. Even if she has a scene where she tells him "I need to leave. I can't stay in this city), at least it wouldn't be a cruel joke on the fans and the characters.
This entire ending means that either Jinx was better off dying taking out the mad monster made out of her dad with her (making her the ultimate dad killer, yay), or Jinx was better off removing herself from the equation SO THOROUGHLY that MOST fans believe it, everyone in world believe it, and the show offers no concrete textual clue for it.
It means Jinx didn't deserve/or wasn't able to get better. And so she has to die or do the exact-same-as-dying but kind of more fucked up somehow.
---
ULTIMATELY the message to impressionable viewers who struggle a lot with mental health and identified a lot with Jinx, are being told with soft sad music that yeah maybe dying is like going to sleep and your family should let you go, go, go, and that "leaving everything and everyone behind" is about the same.
It's fucked, and it saddens me that people are so focused on the "she lived" narrative that they miss out the fact that a hint she may be alive doesn't change the messaging.
And it saddens me knowing that if Viktor's arc ended with him being validated in feeling like his human body was "broken" and "inferior" and that his disability made him lesser as a human, people would have pitchforks and torches out.
Jinx's mental illness and struggles in interacting with the world were her disability, and she got fucking killed or wiped off the city incognito for it.

P.S: If you're warming up to post hate in comments or tags because you don't like my take and don't know how to politely disagree, please save us both time and block me. I'm open to polite discourse but the next person questioning my humanity over fandom wank will be nuked from orbit with prejudice.

Deadpool & Wolverine: Scenes from an unconventional marriage.
Pre script authors note: The following was inspired by a few conversations between @icarusredwings and myself, part of which was a scenario that i thought would be funny... if this is your first story reading one of my AUs (first of all. woof, you picked a long one) Secondly. The boys have money, Peter works for them as an assistant and logistics expert. They live in Kansas city because of Wade's crusade against anti-mutant GMO corn... go back and read KoKC for details. Link below.
Scene 3
Kansas City Missouri Earth-10005 (2031-ish)
When two murderous Canadian mercenaries love each other very much...
Part 1 : paternal instincts.
Our scene opens up where most of our scenes open with this author.
The 19th floor of 700 W 31st Street Kansas City Missouri.
(the building known to its Tennants as One Park Place tower)
International headquarters of Malfeasance and Fraud Mitigation (Mercs for Money) LLC. And home to Logan and Wade Howlett-Wilson.
And Blind Al don't forget her! And Mary puppens I'll stab you if fucking forget about her. By the way Brace yourself folks this might be a crossover AU one-shot non canonical story.
Wade was talking to himself as usual having left the office after chain smoking a pack of Lucky Strikes and going over Financials with Peter and Althea. The business part of the business of killing was a huge pain in the ass. Logan insisted he take an active role beyond just killing. It was hell on his undiagnosed autism/ADHD.
Fuck Excell, fuck spreadsheets, fuck shopping around for cheaper ammo to save a dollar, this Is a Winchester house we're not buying off brand bullets from eastern Europe!
But it was finally over and he could enjoy the rest of his day. Which he intended on doing as he walked towards Logan sitting on the couch in the livingroom. He had a Nintendo Switch and was playing Mario 3 online.
He'd taken a liking to playing games ever since Laura convinced him to play Smash Brothers with her a few years ago.... Wade loved that he'd picked up what many especially the Wolverine himself would consider an unserious hobby.
he sucked at it, but he was trying to improve. He had recently beat Zelda: link to the past, but he still couldn't beat Laura at Smash Bros. Wade sat down next to him with a thud.
You get all your work done for the day princess? He asked without looking up from his screen.
I did. It was terrible. I hate it. Please don't make me do it again. Wade gently puts a hand on Logans thigh, not necessarily with amorous intentions. It's more like trying to ground himself after a stressful afternoon by connecting with his Wolverine.
Sorry bub, but you gotta learn about the actual business. It'll give you a better perspective before you go spending money. Besides its our company, and it's more than shooting fools. Now, if you gimme a sec I'll find a stopping point. These little fucking turtles have been giving me hell.
Thier Koopas penut, stomping on turtles, would be cruel. As for Al and Peter, they are the best at what they do... and what they do isn't very interesting.
Logan chuckles at Wade's bad joke, turning off his game. You smell like cigarettes bub, you know those are bad for your health. *sniffs* lucky strikes.... you know I remember when lucky strike was a plug tobacco brand (chewing tobacco bound together with molasses the 1870s were a weird time)
That sounds disgusting Penut... also I think smoking is the least of my problems. You didn't have to stop playing your game I just Wanted to be near you. But speaking of, did I tell you I was in a video game once?
Logan was accustomed to this line of thought at this point, they were in a film, a fanfic on Tumblr, a comic book, a novel... a video game was new... he couldn't see the audience, as far as he knew his choices were his own. But he didn't immediately dismiss Wade like he had in the past, because when he said things like this, there was a thread, especially if Wade said something ominous. He knew to clock it and treat the situation with care.
You were? Tell me about it bub. He said this as he pulled Wade onto his lap, feeling the need for a little cuddling while his garrulous lover regaled him with a meandering story... he liked it.
Well Penut it was the far off year of 2013, my voice sounded like Nolan North at the time and not the buttery Ryan Reynolds tones I have today. It was before the Deadpool movies and I didn't have the budget for a Hollywood actor.
Logan shook his head in mock understanding, not understanding what he meant by having a different voice at all.
Anyway, cutting past the tutorial levels, I remember Cable was there, and so we're you. Well, not you, one of you. Ya' know.
Logan gave Wade a little squeeze at the mention of Wade's ex, Cable... something about that guy made him feel possessive, not a normal reaction for a pair that generally regarded themselves as polyamorous. It probably had something to do with him being (this universe's) Scotts son which is a situation that's weird on its face before someone explained time travel to you and once that was done Logan would have to open a whole can of worms regarding trauma of love lost, parallel universes, and his Scott...
he pushed it to the back of his brain as Wade told his story, how he went on an adventure and that other Logan. he even let me fly the Blackbird... this, of course, resulted in disaster... he crashed it, leading in to a light explanation of how his and that Logans relationship was... tense.
Wade went on about traipsing through the ruins of Genosha a totally real place Logan was unfamiliar with...
there was no Genosha or Krakoa in his universe, and by far the largest difference between the world's he'd noted. It was a land populated by mutants that had suffered a brazen attack by humans... a story Logan was all too familiar with. It's a story he's been doing his best to live with. Pulling himself out again he focuses on Wade's story, he'd mentioned a musical number with Lady Death (who was not played by Aubrey Plaza at the time wade lamented) and then discovery that it hadn't been Agatha all along but Mister Sinister at the heart of the problem.
He'd planned on destroying Wade's favorite taco restaurant along with the rest of the world by *checks notes* exhuming mutant bodies to obtain their unique DNA.... or something. It was almost 20 years ago penut so it's fuzzy.
An injustices Wade simply could not stand for. He personally killed several of Sinisters clones in the process of ultimately stopping his evil scheme before confronting him at Magneto's old Citadel where he'd been hiding out...
I squashed him like a bug under the boot of an old Sentinel, Penut! The big purple kind like from X-men 97! Anyway, the credits role and because of licensing issues, the game is only available to play on hard disk, and it's expensive.
Logan nodded his head (again) in tacit agreement with this statement as if he completely understood *he didn't* kissed Wade on the cheek and held him. He was about to suggest that he and Wade go for a walk when Wade jumped off his lap
Oh, Penut! Talking about Sinister reminds me of something!
Wade ran across the room and headed towards the large storage room they kept some sundry items in, the Christmas tree, seasonal stuff and a few boxes of Wade's "crap" that he couldn't get rid of. Mind you this wasn't Wolverines terminology, Wade had written in red crayon on the boxes Crap. Out of curiosity Logan had followed behind him and was standing in the door watching Wade feverishly dig through boxes, opening them taking stuff out and Searching for something.
Amongst the random objects was a furry red doll with a grande attached to it. Logan quickly picks it up.
Wade, why dose this doll have a live Fucking grande attached to it... I thought we agreed all explosives stay at the safe house not the condo!
Oh, tickle me Hell-mo, in fairness Penut I forgot he was even in that box... I forgot what was in a lot of these boxes, trinkets, souvenirs... grenades... apparently. I just knew i didn't want to throw these things away. He rifled through another box as he said this and pulled out a large gray rectangular device with buttons nobs and a small readout display.
FOUND IT! c'mon Penut, I'll clean this up later. I want to show you something. Wade rushed out of the storage room as fast as he'd ran in, Logan followed behind exploding doll in hand. He knew he'd better just entertain whatever it was Wade wanted to show him. Besides, he is kinda cute when he's excited about something.
Ok Princess, what about that box has got you so worked up.
Wade sets it on the marble counter.
Sinister was a sick fuck, and certifiably evil... but he was a brilliant geneticist and created several devices for harvesting DNA... I, lightly acquired a few things.
You stole shit.
I WASN'T PAID! so yeah after killing the fucker FOR FREE and distracting the X-men who conveniently showed up after I did all the work, I rooted around the citadel where he'd set up shop. I took this! He said pointing at the device. He then proceeded to pull out an instruction manual seemingly from thin air and read it out loud.
This device can take the DNA of two or more individuals regardless of gender and re-combine it to make a new life.
Logan was taken aback, not only by the inference that this device could assist them in having biological children together... but because Wade fucking read something out loud flawlessly without having to sound it out...
Bub, you can read today?
I guess so... but I'll probably only be able to write in Mandarin tomorrow. So enjoy it while you can. But to the point at hand, Penut, I want to have your babies. And with this I believe we can... with the help of a surrogate.
Sweet heart (Logan said as gently as possible in an attempt to spare his feelings) I don't think we're ready for kids, especially little ones.
Logan held up the explosive doll as exhibit A for his argument.
Wade responds by just looking at Logan, big comic book accurate blue eyes staring right in to his soul, Logan could see the tears welling up....
Jesus, bub! Stop! You emotionally manipulative little cunt! Logan broke his gaze and looked out the window pretending to be interested in downtown...
Look Princess, I know how badly you want a kid of your own... you told me all about it.
But you've got some steps to take before I consider being a father to a new life with you... firstly who's gonna surrogate? And don't tell me Ness, she's a good friend but that's asking a lot of her and don't be all depressed if she tells you no.
Secondly... and I can't believe I'm saying this... but if you want me to even flirt with the Ideas Wade, we gotta make this house a safe place and... buy one of the units next to us to expand into so the kid has a room... and you gotta get a safe for the guns and a locked case for the swords. we can't have them accessible to a toddler... no more keeping a Glock in the silverware drawer, no more LadySmith revolvers under the couch cushions. No more cocain in the pantry labeled "flour" in mason jars.
Well... that doesn't sound like a No, Penut... or should I say... Daddy?
Logan cringed at Deadpool, calling him daddy in a decidedly nonsexual tone. It didn't sound normal.
If the Wolverine wasn't sure about this, he probably shouldn't have given Wade a goal with clearly defined parameters...
Wade had hyper focus and devoted himself to baby proofing the condo, weapons secured. Drugs removed (by consuming them, Logan didn't say he couldn't have fun)
He negotiated buying the vacant one bedroom unit that was on the other side of their office walls, blew out said wall, and had contractors built two new large bedroom suites with bathrooms. He installed a Cypher lock on the office door and... yes, the golden girls were behind glass in a locked display cabinet. Something he could punch through should he need to defend the house quickly.
He did this all with his personal funds. Everything was on course... accept finding a surrogate... believe it or not, Vanessa wasn't actually Wade's first choice. He didn't want to ask her to commit to the inconvenience, especially since he didn't want to interfere with her relationship with Dermot... also the touchy subject of asking the woman you wanted to start a family with to hay... help me start a family with my husband it'll be fun! No... Vanessa would be a fun aunt, but he knew he'd have to seek out the services of a professional or something.
They did find an agency that helped them meet with potential surrogates. It wasn't cheap.
A situation that was more complicated than taxes, filing out mountains of paperwork. Then they had to actually meet these women. Money they had... interview skills not so much. Especially when a few walked in, saw Wade's face, and immediately walked out. The best ones screamed, the worst one thought she was on one of those terrible reality prank shows...
Logan despised the nights after such interviews. Holding Wade as he wept.
Logan... what if my own baby thinks I'm scary? What if they don't want to be seen with me or worse they're bullied at school for being the son of a monster... *loud sobs* because it's true, I am a monster. A murderer, a war criminal whose outside is exactly who he is on the inside... a freak.
Logan had gotten Wade to believe him after years when he said he loved him, his scars added depth and character and that he thought his husband was the sexiest man to walk the earth, the void, and the multivers.
But that only applied to him, others... well, given how the interviews went, it was a blow to his ego.... and his mental health. It'd be days before he got Wade to come back out from under his hood or mask. But that was a problem for tomorrow. But for tonight, Wade had entered a shutdown for lack of a betterword... Logan held him, fed him, got in the large shower with him, washed him, and went to bed, tucked in the large bed he held his beloved who had curled himself up in to a ball.
Tomorrow will be better Princess, we'll find the right person, and I promise any baby of ours will love you and be kind. Because that's who you are, really on the inside bub... you forget it. But as long as I've known you, your heart has been in the right place in the end, and you're kinder than I am by a country mile.
The sleep that night was thankfully dreamless for the both of them.
The next morning, Logan made a simple breakfast of eggs and toast for both of them. Putting the bottles of salsa and sriracha near Wade plate... he looked at the clock. 6:30 am
Meaning it was 7:30 in New York. He'd try and give Vanessa a call in half an hour knowing she'd be up by then for sure. He needed to commiserate with someone who understood Wade like he did.
The phone call he had that morning was surprising. He'd let Vanessa know what'd been going on with the agency... and the drama... he was shocked to learn she didn't even know they were considering having a baby.
Wade, didn't tell you?
No Red's not said a word of this to me, I'm honestly confused as to why you goofballs didn't ask me first.
Well, after yesterday, I might as well be the one to ask. Would you consider it Ness?
I... hmmm.... tell you What, this isn't exactly a phone conversation, and it sounds like I need to have a chat with my buddy... I can be there this weekend if you can help a sister out with at ride.
*Logan scoffs playfully* sure I'll have peter send out a G700 to pick you up.
Oooo spoil me, Daddy she retorted.
Logan gaged... gross Ness.
She cackled at getting the old man's goat for a solid minute before they finally wrapped up the call, Logan could definitely see why she and Wade had clicked.
It was another down day, no jobs scheduled, they could afford to take longer breaks and be choosy with contracts. Althea had the money making money with a few business development investments, the purpose of which was to launder money and pay taxes, the fringe benefit being they actually produced a small regular incom. (Please stop talking about the intricacies of the business, haven't I suffered enough!)
A short walk away on the other side of Broadway is the Penn Valley off leash dog park. Mary loved being able to run about and the boys liked that they didn't have to worry about her getting hit by a car... not that it would have affected her for long, but they both knew regenerating is something you'd rather not do if you didn't have to. Wade was indeed tightly tucked into a hoodie hiding his face as best he could. Logan would address that later. They got to the dog park gate without issue, Wade actively avoiding any other people they saw on the way.
Logan unhooked the leash from the ring on her doggy vest, and she was off like a bat out of hell to do whatever it is Dogpools do when they have a whole field to run in. He pulled out a cigar from his pocket case. A Cohiba, a real one from Cuba, smuggled it himself from a job that took them to the Caribbean. He carefully cut the tip with a specialized Xikar cutter, lit the end of a cedar strip, and used the growing flame from it to light his cigar... a lot of ritual for something you literally burn. But Logan found it calming, he also needed one of his strongest cigars to help cover up the smell of the dog park... even if everyone picked up after their dog (they most certainly didn't) the smell was not great for Logan.
We should both probably cut back on the smoking when the babies get here penut... he said this as he pulled out a cigarette... they didn't do much for either of them chemically. Wade just enjoyed the habit, something comforting about it... plus if Wolvy was gonna have a cigar, it made him feel like it was a couples activity. Doing a mundane thing together was one of Wade's favorite things.
I spoke to Ness this morning.
Oh, I hope she's doing well. I need to call her.
I wouldn't worry about it, she'll be here this weekend... Wade, sweetheart... why didn't you tell Ness about our plans, she seemed a little hurt you didn't tell her.
She's traveling a thousand miles, probably to tell me off. I think she's more than hurt if she's coming out here... you know Penut... you said that I shouldn't get my hopes up with her... and I kinda took it to heart... Also I have my own hangups about it... Firstly being how insensitive it sounds on it's face. "Hay Ness, if you and Dermot aren't using it, can we rent your womb? Only 9 months, first month deposit up front!"
But more importantly, for the better part of a decade, Vanessa has been pulled into the misadventures of Deadpool. I love her (platonically). I'm glad we were able to stay friends... but she really doesn't need to get wrapped up in my problems, schemes, and drama... again. Not at my request anyway. A big issue I have is personal, I was going to start a family with her. Asking felt... regressive. But also to the point, her proximity to me has gotten her kidnapped and killed before. I still feel guilty about it.
You also traveled the multivers to save this reality for her, also you traveled back in time and saved her bub.
Aint you ever seen endgame. That's not how time travel works. Somewhere out there, in some other time line, Vanessa is still dead, and it's my fault. This is just a branched timeline.
Since when has the timeline ever made Since bub!
*Loud gasp* PENUT DID YOU JUST BREAK THE FOURTH WALL?
I don't think so, bub... I don't see the people, but I remember you trying to explain how the "other me" time traveled in 2014, and now there aren't Sentinel's running death camps. That the timeline changed and converged.
This is no different Princess, don't think about it too hard, you said. So I'm telling you the same thing. Don't fret about it bub, Vanessa is alive... and she will be here Saturday.
You're too good for me, Penut. I Don't deserve you.
No, you don't... he said as he picked a small plastic bag out of his pocket. You literally stole me. But I love you anyway. Now go pick up the massive shit Mary just took. I refuse for us to be the kind of people who just leave it.
Wade took the bag.
It's probably Stockholm syndrome Penut.
Vanessa arrived Saturday afternoon, in a Falcon 900LX. It was the best Peter could arrange on short notice... not that Vanessa knew the difference between a G700 and a Falcon, she was just happy not to be on Southwest. Dermot was with her... the man was almost the antithesis of Wade, He liked Hiking and he was quite to the point of being accused of being shy. Dry witted... and as he'd recently discovered when he went to the gun range with the boy's last 4th of July... a lousy shooter. But he was stable, kind, and good-natured. Definitely willing to go along to get along with a lot of Wade's antics at parties. He knew why Vanessa had come, and he was perfectly fine with it. It didn't interfere with his plans at all. He was a slow burner and Vanessa hadn't indicated she was in any hurry to tie the knot. But that's a story for another time.
Wade had gone the extra mile to spoil them. A black limousine complete with champagne greeted them on the tarmac and whisked them off to casa de chaos.
She walked in the door like she owned the place, dropping her bag by the door. She walked to the dining room table and sat...
Come over here and sit with me boys. We got a lot to talk about and I'd like to waste no time getting down to business.
Oh, so direct. Wade said in a catty tone high enough to indicate he was joking as he winked
We're gonna gloss over the fact that you didn't involve me with your family planning from the start... but I hear you've had a hard time landing a surrogate. she cut eyes at Wade as she said this. Wordlessly airing all of her hurt feelings and grievances regarding not even being told Wade and Logan were trying to have a baby. Something one would think a best friend would be told
I'd like to make an offer. On the condition that despite you two being my best friends... I aint doing this for free.
Oh, if that's the case Ness then you gotta interview like all the rest. He said this in a joking tone but she didn't miss a beat.
Ok Red, I've been substance free for over 20 years, I don't smoke. I promise not to drink or eat selfish for the entire pregnancy, and I'm one of two people in this room who've seen you naked and didn't require drugs and therapy after.
Yeah... my dick dose look like a peperoni somone forgot in the air fryer.
And your sack looks like someone took a crown royal bag, filled it with puss, and ran it through the middle of a hog pin.
Wade smiles. And laughs a little...
Ok, Ness. you got the job.
Great, I knew you'd see it my way. She proceeded to write a number on a piece of paper and slid it across.
That's my price. Also, Dermot and I are gonna be long-term hous guests for obvious reasons. Convenient since he can do his job remotely....
Wade looked at the number, showed it to Logan, and smirked... I think the both of you could retire for this much money... but nothing is too good for my baby. I am going to have to kill several people for this.
Bub, we might have to overthrow a government.
Pff like that's something new.
Lucky you Ness, you get to be the first person to stay in one of the new rooms... and tangentially responsible for a potential war crime! He grinned like the devil at her
---
Shortly after the contract was finalized, Vanessa and Dermot moved in, and it was a short trip to New York... the boys provided a sample and Mister Sinisters machine to Dr. Henry McCoy... who was fascinated by the whole thing (he later wrote an entire dissertation on it) he helped with the procedure... the result of which was one Vanessa Carlysle pregnant with the Biological child of the combined DNA of Deadpool and Wolverine...
The following 9 months went surprisingly smoothly (apart from one small incident with a serial killer, but that's a chapter in the Noir, we will worry about it later)
The day came... Vanessa went into labor, early in the morning. Thankfully, it seemed like it would be free of complications. meaning that Wade and Vanessa both got their wish for thus day. The baby was born at home.
Wade had an aversion to hospitals. Bad memories of cancer diagnosis, and a general fear of strange men in white lab coats. Not every man mind you. He was cool with Beast and other people he knew personally and he knew a few scientists and doctors... Logan wasn't averse to hospitals apart from the smells of disinfectant and illness mixed together. Vanessa was a bit new age for her justification, why bring life into the world in a place so many go to die, on top of it being uncomfortable, and expensive.
As a result, the midwife was called arrangements were made and the new life was soon ushered into the world. They say history doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme. Like his father Logan, who was born at home to an affluent family in a room where he'd spend his childhood, this baby was born in the penthouse of a tower to affluent parents in a room he'd inhabit well in to his 20s.
Vanessa wasn't in labor long. No birth is a walk in the park, but she would tell you it was pretty easy and without drama compared to others. She pushed one last time, and he was out. Vanessa did get the honor of holding him first after the midwife cleaned him up... Logan couldn't resist the urge; the umbilical cord was carefully cut with an adamantium claw blade. He had been offered a scalpel for the record.
Hay there, little guy... it's a pleasure to meet you.
She held him for 5 minutes before she called Wade over.
I know someone who's been waiting a very long time for you... I think it's time you should finally meet him
Vanessa handed the tiny bundle to Wade, who had whipped off his shirt the second Vanessa called him over. I read that skin to skin contact was beneficial to the baby. he'd said as he carefully supported the babies head and neck and brought him in closer to his chest.
Welcome to the world... I apologize for the state of it, but I have indeed waited a long time to meet you, little guy... I'm Wade, but please call me dad. Your other dad over there is the Wolverine, that makes you my Kitten. I promise you I'll do the best i can being your father. Please don't judge me too harshly.
Babe, get over here and take your shirt off.
If I had a dollar for every time you've said that to me.
So what should we name him...
You didn't think of a name already!
Logan said it was bad luck *shrugs*
But at least we got the last name sorted Howlett-Wilson đ
Bub, hyphenated names are a pain in the ass... its not a problem for us because we rarely use our real married name for anything official... let's just give him your last name.
Wade scrunched his face with a little distaste...
Wolvy he's our baby. He should have something from both of us... I mean, besides our mental illness... that's a given.
Tell you what princess; how about we Name him James. It was my name... once, but I don't use it anymore. He can have it.
His middle name however was a much longer discussion... mostly because Wade offered several typical Deadpool options that Logan Veto'ed outright.
Thunderdick! No. Skullcursher!? God, no. James MAGNUM Wilson! That's terrible Wade...
It went on for a minute before Vanessa finally chimed in. Evan... I've always liked that name.
Well, it's a normal name. So I like it.
Works for me, Penut. Though it'd be a lot cooler if it was Danger... but that's my middle name.
Your middle name is Winston.... idiot!
Part two: the Life and Times of James E. Wilson (hope you like crossover AUs)
James's earliest memory is his father, Wade holding him, comforting him... but also crying. He vaguely remembered being at the playground, running and jumping as most toddlers do... tripping on something and skinning his knees on the sidewalk... he naturally had the reaction of crying from the pain and surprise... it wasn't until James was much older that he understood why his dad kept mumbling why aren't you healing?
It's ok, dad... you don't need to cry. I already feel better.
Even at a young age, he felt compelled to comfort someone else. To help. It broke him out of thinking about his own problems, including skinned knees...
The result of this little accident was Wade panicking. They went back to the house and grabbed the dog and his other dad. Papa (or the big bad wolf if James was misbehaving) no amount of reasoning or comments from Logan couldn't stop him or calm Wade down.
Logan Howlett-Wilson get your ass in the car and drive us to the airport right now! Were going to the Mansion to see the fucking doctor RIGHT NOW!
Logan got the message, Wade didn't forgo pet names unless he was bone chillingly serious in intention and resolve. So within minutes, they were on a jet to New York. Where James met a fuzzy blue man he liked very much despite the blood draw. That was uncomfortable, but he found the lab he was in fascinating... weather or not, this influenced his future career he couldn't fully say. But probably a little.
The news delivered to the... not so young, but definitely, new parents was not stellar... Hank had run several tests and analyzed James' DNA structure. He possessed the X-Gene, but it was dormant due to being recessive. Much like Wade he'd have to undergo profound trauma to activate it. There was no guarantee he'd come out the other end with a healing factor. It could be anything... furthermore, it was highly unethical and unthinkable to subject a child.... Wade cut him off
I know a lot of people don't think highly of me. But how fucking dare you assume I'd even entertain the idea of tormenting my child.
Easy bub, I don't think Hank was implying anything. Ya' know he gets lost in the hypotheticals. Right Hank!?
The blue man nodded in agreement.
We will just... have to be extra careful.
Wade picked James up. C'mon soldier. There's a big metal doofus ya gotta meet.
---
One particular afternoon James was sitting in his office recounting some memories with his friend Gregory. Though they had a habit of referring to each other by sir name. Wilson and House
(what a twist)
The day the two met was actually one of the few points in time that if you knew who his parents were you'd say "oh yeah, that is clearly the offspring of Deadpool and Wolverine" it was at a medical conference in New Orleans. Wilson dosn't remember the exact circumstances he'd been drinking but his father's tempers came out of him as he'd threw punches and generally effectively kicked ass at a bar brawl (Wade would have been so proud) House ever the shit stirrer jumped in and backed him up. Truly his fathers son, meeting your best friend as a result of incredible violence... in a bar.
House had actually just finished telling Wilson about his most recent case, yet another patient that had been previously misdiagnosed as having lupus. It was Hashimoto's disease if you're curious. The interactions he'd had with the patient made him think she'd been being neglected, bare minimum socially isolated... he recognized his own surliness in others. It resulted in a dressdown of her parents that he was certain would result in an office visit with Cuddy and detention after school.
High-school wasn't a fun time for Gregory...
You know it wasn't exactly fun for me either.
From the age of 11 to the time he left for med school, he was escorted by armed gaurds to and from school. Growing up in Kansas city, he'd gone to Pembroke Hill School, a private school that specialized in STEM that's tuition cost as much as a new car annually... he was one of only two kid's that went to that school that arrived with a security detail, not however the only one that arrived in a limousine. The other kid was the child of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. They weren't friends... he didn't really have friends.
Aww poor little rich boy
House chided at him
At least you didn't get shoved into a locker...
Which was true. He didn't have friends but he didn't have enemies either. The closest thing he had to a best friend was his Grandma Al and Mr. Yoshitomi his driver/lead bodyguard. he was allowed to call him Yoshi...
The man was clearly retired Yakuza, and like his father Logan, tough on the outside but secretly a teddy bear. The truth is Wilson found himself alone at home, too. Apart from Al... but she mostly sat him down in front of a TV and fed him before going outside to smoke...
so apart from weekends, he was alone. Occasionally, he'd see his big sister Laura. She was frequently busy herself being the "official" Wolverine of the Xmen. He liked it when she brought him comics, fictionlized accounts of the adventures of his dad in the past, and his big sister... he knew his dad's loved him. No one could argue that... but What had started as two lovers in New York trying to make rent money by doing the only thing they were good at; picking up random jobs on the dark web (Killing mostly) in the mid 2020s morphed into a private security firm in Kansas City that rivaled Black Water and the (fucking) Pinkertons by the 2040s.
They were busy, and it did provide him a comfortable life without student loans. But from 11 to 18, it was him Al and what had to be the world's oldest dog. She's still alive, actually. The dog loved him and was rarely not by his side when he was home (because all deadpools love their babies) Althea however was not, she was a chain smoker and heavy drug user until the day she died.
how that woman lived to be 115 is fucking beyond me
She lived long enough to see (metaphorically) Wilson graduate medical school. It was the last time he'd seen her. He moved away and started his residency in New Jersey. Wade had sent a private plane as well as several veiled threats to the Dean of medicine at the time to ensure Wilson had the time off to attend the funeral.
Wilson... I gotta ask, why did you have armed guards?
Oh! Funny story when I was 10. I was kidnapped once
(Exactly once I made sure of that)
It's true. He was heading home from school. He made it to the driveway of the tower he called home when some very ill-informed gangsters decided to kidnap the son of a rich man... they didn't do their resurch as to who's kid exactly, just figured they'd get a ransom...
In fairness on paper Wade and Logan weren't Wade and Logan, they were two random dudes who ran a lucrative business and weren't shy about showing off.
This leads to probably the second most traumatic memory Wilson had... not necessarily the kidnapping. They had actually treated him surprisingly well.
What shocked him was seeing his father Logan covered in blood kicking down the door of the room he'd been kept in. He'd never seen his father in the tight yellow and brow suit before. Or the mask... he had taken it off when he clocked James, but that only made it worse. The entire bottom of his father's face was coated in blood, like he'd gored a man (he actually had ripped open one of the gangsters throat with his teeth) the blood on his face was cut clear with two rivulets of tears. What James didn't know is they weren't just tears of joy seeing his son, but also tears of relief. If anything had happened to James, the Genocide he and his husband were going to commit in response would have made his incident in his own universe look like childs play.
---
Rebellious teenage years were impossible. You couldn't steal weed from your blind grandma and hid it in your room, not from the nose of the Wolverine.
Do you know what this shit dose! It makes you fucking stupid is what it does, and your dad and I aren't raising a fucking idiot!
Logan never hit him. But he was scary when he yelled and loud... if he was really pissed those claws popped out. Never an actual threat but fucking scary. The only person in the house that actually got stabbed was Wade... and much to James's chagrin, he was pretty sure his dad liked it.
It wasn't the worst childhood, and it wasn't a bad life. Wilson became an oncologist partly because he was fascinated by his own father. The man who's cancer actually kept him alive. He had success, failures... it's like his dad said "what dosn't kill you makes you bad at intimacy kido" 3 ex wives later he finally understood what he meant by that.
All the events of his life that you know about that happened on the show. They happened. The only difference is that he went home to Kansas City for the holidays. Where he'd see his seemingly ageless father's and sisters. He loved his family Logan, Wade, Laura, and Ellie (we'll talk about her in another story.) Which is just as well. He never had children of his own, and after your 3rd failed marriage, you kinda give up on the idea of expanding your family. But until his dying day his dad dotted on him. And bragged, boy did he brag especially to the Xmen when he had a chance to rub in their face his son the successful Doctor! (Suck on that Jean!)
But for Wade, the day did finally come that his immortality became a curse... with every Christmas, Thanksgiving, and spring break that came, James got older. Wade was at his retirement party, He remembers loving Dr. House's wildly inappropriate speech and toast. A man after his own heart, but after the laughter subsided, he realized that his boy, who was graciously receiving a gold watch, had lines in his face and gray hair.
The years kept coming... Wilson got older, he got sick... and his mortality came to pass.
If the universe brought these starbound lovers together for any particular reason. It was for this moment, Wade loved two things Intensely, his Wolverine and his children... but the Death of his first son broke him. Logan clinged on to Wade physically and emotionally. Doing everything he could to hold him together. It was many years before Wade could be called Ok. It was another couple hundred years before he even considered the idea of raising more children.
It should be noted that James was the only one to be fully genetically Logan and Wade's. He was special, one of a kind.
Wade carried a portion of James's ashes with him in a small locket around his neck where it stayed for countless millenia. In dangerous situations he'd even cut himself and put it under his skin so it wouldn't get lost...
Epilogue:
The lady at the end of the road sits in her ethereal other world. Surrounded by various time keeping devices dimly lit by candles flames that don't consume. She pulled out a pocket watch and a ledger. She had an appointment to keep. This one was a special case. The dark lady had the power to send out shades, to be everywhere at once. But this appointment she'd handle directly. She carried out her appointed task kindly but usually without emotion. She was inflexible and didn't bargain or despite what you may have heard play chess or gamble for time or souls....
Wade was there... hospice care was set up about a week ago, and he sat by James side as the ravage of time and biology took its toll. By regular human standards Dr. James Wilson lived a good life, a long life at that. He was 97 years 6 months 2 weeks and 5 days old the morning she came. Logan had been with him the entire night before Wade had taken his shift early that morning so Logan could get some sleep. At about 10 am in the guise of a hospice nurse, she walked into the room, Wade was no fool. Only one person still alive (if you could call her alive) looked like that... He knew why she was there. He hadn't seen her in a very long time.
I see we're sticking with the Aubrey Plaza look... tears started welling up in his eyes. He looked at James in the bed beside him Despite looking down at the face of an old man, Wade still saw his baby. His son.
I thought you'd like this look, it's definitely more pleasant than most. If it's any consolation, Wade... I'm sorry I have to do this.
I haven't seen you in over 100 years. Not even the times I've died lately. Haven't seen you since the time I jumped out of an airplane into a volcano after Vanessa dumped me. Now you show up! I know why you're here.
The tears were streaming down Wade's face. Hot on his cheeks, his eyes red. He looks at her pleadingly.
Please, take me instead. Please, Lady Death. Leave my baby alone. Please, I beg you, take me.
Oh, Wade... My love. It has caused me great sorrow to not see you all these years. But don't you know? I can't take you even if I wanted to. You and Logan have woven yourself in the fabric of the universe. You and him are part of Eternity. I can't take you only, Entropy can take you. probably shortly before he takes me... even death has a death.
I know this is hard. I beg you to forgive me... but it's James's time to go. But because I love you. I waited as long as I could, he should have passed before you woke up this morning. But now you have an opportunity to say goodbye...
She moved to the bed and touched James's hand. He sat up and looked at his father.
Why are you crying, dad?
He stood up, out of the bed. Wade jumped out of his chair and embraced him tightly.
Oh, my sweet Kitten. Im so sorry. Please forgive your old man.
Wade sobs for a while before he can talk again...
I remember the day you were born... I loved you, I held you. I swore I'd burn down the world to protect you... but I can't protect you anymore...
Dad, I Don't understand. What's going on.
That's unfortunately my job to explain... but it'd be easier to show you...
She points at the bed; James looks down and to his surprise, he sees... himself. Drained of color, unmoving.
Dr. James Wilson, you have lived your life in service of others. A life well spent. But now is the time to leave that life... I'm sorry
Dad, you don't have to protect me anymore. It'll... it'll be ok.
Kitten... I love you, and though I desperately want to rage and fight and yell to keep you here longer... it's not the right thing to do. My friend here gave me an opportunity few have. I'm going to take it instead of throwing it in her face.
I love you...
I love you too Dad.
Wade hugged his son one last time, kissed him on the cheek, and led him by the hand to Lady Death.
Can... can Logan say goodbye, too?
I'm sorry Wade. I've already pushed the limits of the rules to extend this opportunity to you. I'm afraid I can't
Ok...
He looks up at James.
Your father and I will miss you. Honeybadger loved his kitten as much as I do.
I know, Dad... I know. I want you to know that I had a good life. I'm at peace. I don't want you worrying about me.
You silly boy. It doesn't matter if you're 9 or 97. I was always going to worry about you.
Lady Death extended her hand out to James.
It's time... I'm sorry, but don't be sacred. I promise where we're going isn't bad. It won't hurt.
James took her hand, and slowly took his other hand out of his father's grasp... turned and looked at him.
I love you. You were the best dad. I guess now is the time. Goodbye.
I could have been better, I'm sorry. I love you....... James... it... it might be a while before I see you again... goodbye. I'll always love you, kitten.
They walked away from Wade out the bedroom door. Wades heart broke into a million pieces as they turned to go down the hall. There was a flash of light... and he was gone.
The End.
If fan fics had credits. This would be the closing song. It is special to me... I myself would like it played at my funeral.

I LOVE the idea of Amy Rose in the Sonic Movies
and if she's not in it the Sonic Movie 3 in the end credits scene at LEAST I will be so sad.
This is the continuation of This Art Post Here , of my design for a Movie Version of Amy
Here is all the little ideas I had for this AU written down:
(Sorry about the weird format)
I'm not sure how or Why Amy gets to Earth, but I imagine she learns about the heroic Sonic the Hedgehog(maybe she overhears something? Sees a newspaper/newscast? Idk)and begins a search for him.
Amy found the Walkowski's on her own, but when she arrived Tom had taken the boys out for a day of fishing so only Maddie was home.
Maddie was surprised
She may have 3 alein kids, but there will always be a moment of shock and "ANOTHER ONE?!" for her
She gets Amy cleaned up before Tom and the others get back home
It turns into a little fashion show, and Maddie is estatic
Living with little boys she doesnt get the oppertunity for dress up & tea parties often
Only when she's visiting Rachel and Jojo
When the others get home, Maddie gathers them in the kitchen/living room before bringing Amy in
- Tom faints
- "There's a GIRL now?!" â Tom
- Sonic is super excited to meet another hedgehog is slips his mind that shes a girl.
- and then it clicks and he's like
- "wait she's a girl-Oh my god shes a girl ive never met a girl what do i say she's really cute ulchhfccvjvukzkg"
- Reverse Sonamy, I'm a total sucker for it!
- Tails is curious as to who she is and why she's here
- Knuckles is wary of a new face
- Amy gets overwhelmed and summons her Piko Piko hammer
- Knuckles is no longer wary
- "Ah! Clearly you are a Warrior, here to join as a member our clan in protecting the master Emerald!"
- Amy ends up becoming a member even if it wasn't her orginal intention for meeting them.
Rachel, as we know, doesnt't really any of the Sonic characters.
- EXCEPT Amy.
- She's pretty, pink, and she refuses to let the other boys taint her!
- "Maddie you can't be serious about letting such an angel stay with those ruffions you call your kids! No, NUh-Uh, I'm taking this one you already have 3."
- Rachel takes in Amy to live with her and Jojo in San Francisco
- JoJo looks up to Amy like an older sister
- Maddie sends Amy off with her iconic red dress.
- When Sonic first sees her in it, he runs with his super speed all the way back to his old burrow, screams, and runs back and pretends it didnt happen.
- Amy enjoys listening to Music with Wade when he picks her up from the airport to visit the Walkowski's
- Tom took Amy fishing, as he's done all the kids, and it turns out Amy already knows how to fish!
- She's not bad at it, average skill
- She says someone named Big the Cat taught her
- She plays baseball with the Walkowski's
- She's incredible at the bat, but is no match for Sonic's speed being able to catch any home run she hits
- At least when Sonic is able to snap out of his admiral-gaze at her in time to do so.
- Sonic is totally down hard for Amy, thinks shes so cool and totally out of his leauge(No Baseball Pun intended)
- Amy is oblivious to this
- Amy also thinks Sonic is cute, but is overall good friends with all of team Sonic
- Knuckles thinks Amy is a good mate for Sonic. Someone strong to protect and provide for his little brother
- Knuckles also sees Amy as a friendly rival, someone almost if not as strong as he is
- Tails doesnt fully understand what Knuckles is talking about with "mating" and why Sonic always blushes around her but he enjoys Amy's attention and praise about his inventions
Thats all I have right now, but I'm glad I was finally able to write down this idea lol!
(Again, PERFECT TIME TO POST THIS when the new trailer for Sonic 3 dropped today!)
I really hope you all liked this!
Pls Reblog&Comment&Like!

x: Thomas Shelby found his match in an information bookie who has eluded the grasp of the Peaky Blinders long enough to crumble their power over Birmingham. But at last, he found you. The ghost he'd been chasing was finally in front of him, but you were trickier than he expected. Dangerous, cunning - and a bit too much like himself. To buy your loyalty, he would have to sell his in equal measure. Loyalty for loyalty - blood for blood - how much were either of you willing to spill before the game changed entirely?
a/n: good morning, my loves, how do we feel about scheduled posts all the way through the holiday? (if you're in america)
part 14: the waking nightmare
word count: 2,053
tag: @bruhidkjustwannaread
ââââââââââ
The morning after the fire, the air in Birmingham still carried the acrid scent of smoke and charred wood. Arthur, John, Michael, and Finn stood before the blackened husk of the bookshop, their expressions grim as they surveyed the damage. The once-cozy place, lined with stories and secrets, was now a gutted shell of ash and rubble. They didn't know what they'd find, and they didn't know where to start looking. All they could think was that, maybe, there would be something in there that survived, something they could bring back to you.
âDamn shame,â Arthur muttered, stepping through the splintered doorway. His boots crunched against debris of blistered leather and paper. "Whoâd go after a bloody bookshop?"
âSomeone who wanted her out of the picture,â Michael said coolly, running a hand over the soot-streaked frame of the doorway. He glanced at Finn, who remained silent, his eyes scanning the wreckage as if he could will it to yield answers. "Or they thought this was the only way to draw her out. They could've killed her."
John knelt by the remnants of a desk, brushing away ash to reveal twisted metal and scorched wood. âWhateverâs left, itâs not much,â he said with a grimace, standing and wiping his hands on his trousers. âPlace is done for.â
Finn, determined, ventured further in. The steps up to your former office creaked beneath his feet. He walked through slowly, assessing each stair as the cracks from the fire revealed themselves.
When he stepped inside, his face fell to a somber frown. The chair where he once sat was withered down to bare bones. The pictures were all black and their frames cracked.
His gaze caught on a blackened drawer barely clinging to its hinges. Something about it felt offâas if it had stubbornly resisted the flamesâ grasp. With effort, he pried it open, revealing a charred stack of papers, a silver pen dulled by soot, and a faded leather-bound book, its edges singed but intact. He removed the items from the drawer, and from the book, a photograph fell, landing face down on the floor.
The picture had been protected, shielded from the worst of the fire, though the edges curled slightly from the heat. Finn picked it up carefully, revealing the image of a man in a sharp suit with a dark, knowing smile. The background suggested another time, another placeâyour world before Birmingham and the Peaky Blinders.
âWhatâd you find, Finn?â Arthur asked, his voice low. Finn handed the photo to him, and Arthur studied it, his brow furrowing. âWhoâs the fancy lad?â
Michael leaned over Arthurâs shoulder, his sharp eyes narrowing. âCould be a family member. Maybe, a former lover,â he said. "This was locked away, wasnât it?"
John, whoâd been sifting through another pile, turned his attention to them. âSo y/n had a secret,â he said, smirking. âDon't look so surprised.â
Finn, his voice uncharacteristically quiet, said, âYou think itâs why this happened? Him?â
Arthur shook his head. âI think we've learned by now not to make any assumptions about her.â
âYou gonna tell him about this?â John asked, nodding to the photograph.
Arthur hesitated, his gaze lingering on the face in the picture. âHeâll need to know.â
Finn frowned, taking the photo back and slipping it carefully into his coat pocket. âWe could just leave it alone. For all she knows, it burned up with the rest of this place.â
John scoffed. âFinn, someone torched this shop. Shot at her in the dark. Someone went through a lot of trouble just to rattle her.â
Michael, still surveying the remains of the office, added, âWe should tell Tommy first then. I don't think we're going to find anymore answers here.â
The four of them stood for a moment longer, the silence heavy with unspoken thoughts. The charred remnants of you life felt like a puzzle, each piece telling a story they were only beginning to uncover.
ââââââââââ
You woke with a twitch, your breath ragged and your body trembling. The room was dark, but there was warmth surrounding you, steady and grounding. For a moment, you couldnât place it. Your mind was still tangled in the remnants of the nightmare that woke you. The warmth wasn't a claw from the dream. You weren't alone.
Tommyâs arms were around you, firm but not confining. He sat on the edge of the bed, holding you like he was afraid you might break but unwilling to let go. His face was close, his breath brushing against your hair.
He said your name softly, his voice cutting through the haze of fear.
You stiffened, instinctively pulling back, but he didnât let you go entirely. His hands moved to your shoulders, anchoring you as your breathing slowed.
âWhat are you doing?â Your voice was rough with sleep and embarrassment. "Why are you still here?"
âYou were...â he started to say, his tone calm but edged. He gently brushed the hair laced with sweat from your forehead. âYou were having a nightmare. Couldn't wake you.â
You couldn't explain yourself, but the thought of him seeing you in the middle of an episode that haunted you nightly was unsettling. You swallowed hard, your hands gripping the blanket.
âIt was just a dream,â you whispered.
âThat would be putting it lightly.â
You nodded reluctantly. âItâs nothing. They come and go.â
âSince the fire?â
âBefore that,â your admitted, so softly that he could barely hear it.
Tommyâs gaze softened, and for a moment, you thought he might ask more. But instead, he shifted slightly, leaning closer without crowding.
âWhat were you dreaming about?â he whispered.
Your chest tightened at his gentle prod, a part of you wanting to lash out, to push him away before he could ask something much more invasive, but you were exhausted. The wounds were still fresh, and your mind was stretched thin. It had been that way for a long time. Any second now, and the fine, tensed wire that kept you from revealing everything would snap.
âI have no answer for you now that would satisfy your curiosity.â You desperately wanted to feel the pillow but rested your head against his shoulder, momentarily accepting the close quarters and the feeling of safety in his hold.
Tommyâs jaw clenched, and for a moment, he didnât speak. When he did, his voice was softer than she expected. âWhat's his name, then?â
The simplicity of the question caught you off guard. âHow could you possiblyââ
âBecause I see them too,â he interrupted, his tone sharper. âThe ones Iâve lost. The ones Iâve killed. It doesnât go away, y/n. Eventually, we all end up this way. Haunted. Even if it's only while we sleep.â
His honesty disarmed you, but you felt his honest comment with something more than annoyance. Tommy was showing you that he understood. That he, too, felt the weight of a hundred souls that never let him sleep without the constant reminder that they have yet to move on.
âDoes it ever stop?â you asked after a long silence.
"I have yet to lie to you since we've met, and I don't plan to lie now."
Tommy's thumb gently stroked your shoulder, and it brought comfort to the aching throb beneath. The urge to move away from him subsided. For now, you would accept his company because it was better than being alone with the dreams that could so easily return the moment he left.
âYou were screaming." Tommy's voice hung low as he steadied himself to admit more than he would usually care to. âAnd I canât stand to see you like that.â
Like a reflex, your cheek met his chest, and the scent of him washed over you like a comforting fire. You leaned into him, and he shifted beneath you until you rested comfortably in the crook of his arm. âWhy?â
As if he felt the change in your body, he pressed his lips to your hair and sighed. He closed his eyes with the last of his admission. âI don't know.â
The words lingered in the air, heavy with unspoken meaning.
âTwo people in pain are no good to each other, Tommy,â you said softly. "Maybe it's best we be alone."
âYou're right,â Tommy replied. âBut this doesn't seem so bad.â
The seconds of being alone in the safety of Arrow House hit the both of you like a warm light, blinding you from the doubts that you knew would eventually return. But, for now, you and Tommy accepted that if either of you were truly better off alone, then one night wouldn't do much to ruin you anymore than you already were.
ââââââââââ
The room had settled into a stillness that seemed fragile, as if one wrong word or movement might shatter it. Tommy sat propped against the headboard, his arm wrapped securely around you as you rested against his chest. Your breathing had slowed, teetering on the edge of a deep sleep, but he could tell by the faint tension in your body that you were somewhere just before it.
Tommy glanced down at you, his expression unreadable in the dim light. His hand idly brushed over your arm in a gesture so unfamiliar to him it almost startled him to realize he was doing it.
ây/n,â he murmured, his voice barely louder than the whisper of the night outside.
You hummed in acknowledgement, the sleep finding you quickly.
âBingham,â he whispered. âWhat happened?â
Perhaps, now wasn't the time, but at this time of night, the thought that you might be so exhausted that you wouldn't be able to hide it anymore encouraged him to keep trying. At first, he thought you might not answer. But then you sighed, your voice soft and gentle, your real voice beneath all that you'd let others hear until now.
âHe knew,â you said, your words slow, as if you were piecing them together in your half-awake state.
âKnew what?â
âAbout him.â
Tommyâs chest tightened, his grip on you tightening slightly. âThe man you loved?â
You nodded against him, leaning into him just gently enough to make yourself more comfortable. You didnât elaborate, and he waited, knowing that pressing too hard would push you back into silence.
âWhat did he know?â Tommy asked after a moment, his voice even quieter than before.
âThat it broke me."
Tommy leaned his head against the bed. He stared into nothing as he braced himself for whatever you would reveal. He didn't know if he'd be ready for any of it, but not knowing would sooner drive him to madness.
âWhat happened to him?â
When you finally spoke, your voice was distant, as though you were reliving the memory. In your head, all the visions you kept at bay coursed through your mind, seeing the man Tommy so reluctantly asked about.
âHe was so sad... And I couldn't fix it. It was all my fault.â
Tommyâs mind raced to piece together what little you were giving him. He wanted to ask more, to demand answers, but your voice cut through his thoughts.
âI wanted to die,â she muttered, the words so quiet he almost didnât catch them. âSo fucking badly.â
The admission hit Tommy harder than he expected. His fingers tightened slightly on your arm, grounding himself in the present though he felt himself being pulled into your nightmare.
âI couldn't,â you continued, breaths slowly deepening as sleep pulled back your speech. âI tried.â
You were quiet for a long time, and he thought you might have fallen asleep. But then you shifted, your nose nuzzling into his chest like a place of comfort. Your voice was drowsy but filled with a quiet resolve.
âDeath scared me, too,â you said against his shirt, your words slurring as sleep began to take hold. âAnd dying didn't wouldn't mean I'd get him back.â
Tommy let the silence stretch after that, his mind a storm of questions and emotions he wasnât ready to face. He glanced down at you, your breathing evening out as you drifted into sleep.
He held you a little tighter, his hand brushing against your hair in an unconscious gesture of comfort. The weight of your words stayed with him until he, too, found sleep. Though it would not be so comforting as he would have wished.

Playing Stardew Valley while I have a headache so time to mix my silly interests just for funsiesâŠ
đ„ Who I think The Pines family would romance in Stardew Valley đ„
Stan Pines - Elliot
My first thought was to say Shane, but I feel like Stan would see too much of himself in Shane to want to romance him. Before you question why Elliot in particular, Stan LOVES âThe Duchess Approvesâ, he loves it so much he wrote erotic fan-fiction of it. Stan would turn into a blushy loser the minute Elliot said something really corny and romantic in the game and I love that for him <3
Ford Pines - Harvey or Krobus
Ford would probably be a lot less interested in the romance in game in my opinion, and heâd probably find a lot of the bachelors/bachelorettes a bit too young. Harvey is a sweet nerd who likes airplanes and tells you to cover your mouth when you sneeze, if Ford had to marry anyone in Stardew Valley Itâd be him. However, if he never goes for Harvey and finally meets Krobus, I feel like Ford would ABSOLUTELY want Krobus to be his platonic house partner! Krobus is a completely different species with a different culture, Ford would be absolutely fascinated with Krobus! <3
Mabel Pines - Literally Anyone
Mabel Pines would marry anyone and everyone in Stardew Valley if you give her the chance. Sheâs downloading a hundred different mods to make the game look pretty, gives characters more dialogue, and let her date everyone at once! If she was forced to chose juuuuust one, something youâd literally have to force her to do, sheâd probably pick Sebastian or Emily. Sebastian because heâs a broody young man, something Mabel has shown to go crazy over before. Emily because sheâs really strange and quirky and Mabel would absolutely be digging that vibe and understand her in ways no one else could.
Dipper Pines - Maru or Abigail
I initially chose Leah for Dipper because of the whole âWendyâ likeness, but I feel like after Dipperâs crush on her goes away he probably wouldnât go after a character like that. Dipper seems to be the kinda of guy who likes smarts and bravery. Maru seems like a good fit because sheâs easily the smartest person in town and Dipper would probably love learning about her since heâs also a little nerd himself lmao. Abigail also seems like a good fit since sheâs bold, unafraid to say what she wants, and is overall pretty cool. Her love for the supernatural and monster hunting would also be huge pluses in his book!
That is all, I shall continue to play Stardew Valley and heat up a bowl of spaghetti while I lay down forever đ„

something in the orange| fratboy!katsuki bakugo x f!softgirl!reader
summary: childhood competitive friends take a college cooking course together for fun. katsuki bakugo, our amazing frat boy, and y/n, our amazing soft hearted girl. katsuki has a soft spot for her, but because of his ego won't let it show. denki being denki, lets a secret spill out which can ultimately make or break your friendship with katsuki bakugo
authors note: reader is best friends with denki, sero, kyoka, and tenya!!
chapter 3: new friends & frat parties
you come out of your dorm and walk down the steps to the common room to find out all your other dormmates. it's a filled common room and you spot katsuki on the couch with eijiro, denki, and to your surprise hanta. he sits with a pink haired girl and you feel a tad bit uneasy.
she seems to have the eyes for eijiro, but you'll keep an eye on it. a tap on your shoulder catches you off guard as you turn around to see it was tenya. "greetings" he says and you giggle. "no need to be so formal tenya" you say lightly touching his forearm. "want to take a seat?" he asks you and you nod sitting on a couch not far from katsuki.
"so what's your major?" you ask as you cross your legs and look at him. "biomedical sciences and you?" he asks and you tell him it's dance. "so doctor route i presume?" you ask him and he nods. "i come from a family of doctors it's only right to add on to the line of many doctor iida's" he says and you nod.
"do you know what kind or is it all too new to know which specialty?" you ask and he shifts to move his body facing you. "i'm thinking more surgeon route if anything it's between pediatrics and neurology" he said and you nod smiling. "i could never do all of that too much memorization" you giggle and he nods. "well classes start tomorrow i already know so much is going to be on my plate already" he sighs and gives you a soft smile.
"hey dance major right?" you hear a girl say and turn around to see a girl with dark purple hair. "yea im y/n" you say trailing off to catch her name. "kyoka jiro but just call me jiro" she says kindly. "im a music major maybe we can collab at some point" she says and you nod excitedly. "yeah sounds awesome" you say smiling widely.
"hi im mina!" a girl said and you turn your head to see the pink haired girl. "im y/n" you say trying to be nice as she sits close to katsuki. "im majoring in journalism and im also officially apart of the UA newspaper so make sure to grab a copy on campus!" she says with a smile. she seems nice. "okay sure! i'm a dance major" you tell her and she nods. "kats over here told us" she says and your smile fades. kats?
"yea kats and i go way back" you say with a smile and the hint of jealousy that was in your voice. katsuki picked up on it and he smirked. "hey y/n!" denki said plopping down next to you and you smile. "hi denks" you say with a smile. "i love your pajama set where'd you get it?" mina asks eyeying you.
"kats' mom actually got it for me for my 18th birthday" you smile and she turns her head to katsuki. he nods confirming it and she lets out a huff. "whats your major denks?" you ask and he sits up straight. "communications" he says proudly and eijiro and katsuki stifle their laughter.
"hey whats wrong with communications? dont be mean" you lightly scolded the boys. denki pouts playfully "yeah dont be mean" he laughs and you join him. "and you eiji?" you ask and he flushes a bit red at your little nickname for him. "aerospace engineering" he says and you whistle. "we got the next man of NASA right here" hanta jokes and you all laugh.
you went around the room greeting everyone else. you learned yuga was a graphic design major. tsuyu was studying astronomy. ochaco in antrhopology. mashirao in criminology. koji in animal science. rikido in nutrition and food sciences. mezo in environmental. fumikage in psychology. toru in criminology. you obviously knew izuku was studying chemical engineering. minoru in film and media studies. momo in kinesiology.
you all stay down there for awhile, cooking dinner together. you all called it a night at around 10 to get ready for tomorrow's first set of classes. you walk into your dorm a cup of tea in hand, courtesy of momo, and a hand stops your door from closing. you turn to see katsuki.
"hey kats" you said smiling letting him in and closing the door. "you jealous of pinky?" he asks with a smirk and you tilt your head confused. "who's pinky?" you ask trying to piece together who the hell pinky is. "ashido?" he says and it clicks. "that mina girl?" you ask rolling your eyes.
"hah!" he says catching you off guard. "what?" you say turning to put down your mug down on your nightstand. âyou rolled your eyes you are jealousâ he pushes and you narrow your eyes. âdont worry sheâs got the hots for kirishima sheâs just messing with youâ he assures you and you nod.
ânot that i care but thank youâ you smile at him. âwhats on your schedule tomorrow?â he asks as he sits in your chair. âiâve got math, english, and contemporary dance 101â you say sipping your tea.
âhow long is that?â he asks as he eyes the stuff on your desk. you have pictures of your senior year pinned most of them containing katsuki and izuku. â3 hoursâ you said moving towards him.
âi remember thisâ he says pointing at a photo of you and katsuki. it was prom and you stood back to back throwing up peace signs with sunglasses on. âfun timesâ you said and rolled the chair so heâs facing you.
âget out im tiredâ you demand nodding your head towards the door. âyeah yeahâ he grumbles getting up and looking down at you. he eyes your outfit and mentally thanks his mom for this pajama set. he looks around your dorm and lightly smiles.
âyour room is very y/nâ he says admiring the pastels and bows. âkatsuki dorm tour soon?â you playfully asked opening your door letting him out.
âneverâ he grumbles and your smile fades. âgoodnight katsâ you said going to close the door. ânightâ is all he says as he walks down the singular flight of stairs to the 4th floor. you closed it and leaned against it, exhaling out a sigh.
you were going insane.
â~*
you changed into dark jeans (that have bows on it), a light blue long sleeve top, and topped it off with some uggs. you put your hair into two braided pigtails and smiled at your reflection. you walked out grabbing your bag and lock your dorm. "you look nice" you hear from behind you and you turn to see todoroki.
"hey shoto" you smiled and blushed a bit at his compliment. "heading to class?" he asks and you nod starting to walk down the stairs with him trailing behind you.
âhow was the rest of your night?â he asks kindly and you give him a smile. âit was good! how about yours?â you asked him and he only nods his head. âit was good tooâ is all he says.
âwhat class do you have this early?â you asked as you grab an orange juice carton from the fridge in the kitchen. âenglishâ he grumbles and you smile, shoto looking at you confused.
âwith professor yamada?â you asked hoping he was in that course as well. âyes thats the oneâ he says sort of relieved to have someone he partially knows in the same class. âexcuse meâ you hear and turn around to see tenya.
âgood morning tenyaâ you smiled at him but he kept eyeying the orange juice carton in your hand. âmy apologies good morning y/nâ he bows down to you and you blush. âi see you have an orange juice cartonâ he points out and you nod holding it up.
he clears his throat shifting on his two feet uncomfortably. âis something wrong tenya?â you asked as you looked up at shoto and he only shrugged his shoulders. âits just i bought those for myself- im willing to share though i can always go out and buy more!â he rambled and you widened your eyes.
âoh im so sorry i didnt know!â you said trying to hand it back to him and he shook his head pushing it back to you. âkeep it i insistâ he says holding your hands gently to stop you from handing him the juice back.
âthank you tenyaâ you smiled at him and he smiled down at you. âshould we get going?â shoto asked you and you nodded. âbye tenyaâ you gave him a small hug and started walking out of the common room with shoto.
âheyâ you heard and stopped walking. katsuki reaches you and eyes shoto up and down. âyou gonna be in the studio laterâ he asks and you nod. âi have a room reserved for 5:30 why?â you asked and he only nods walking away.
âheâs a weird one isnt he?â shoto says and you nod walking out of the common area with shoto.
â~*
its 5 o clock when you reach the dance studio desperately wanting to get some practice in. your contemporary 101 class has you already working on choreography youâll be performing for the class. you thought long and hard on which song to dance to.
you swiped your id card and opened the doors to the building. you went up the second floor and swiped your id card again to get into the private room. your phone dings and you move to grab your phone along with your speaker.
kats đ
you in the studio?
you reply with a yes and you see he starts typing again.
kats đ
be there in 5
you react with a thumbs up leaving him on read and you walk out to wait for him. you see him with his practice bag along with his school backpack. âhey grumpsâ you smirked at him and he scowls at you.
âlet us in dorkâ he grumbles out and you swipe your ID card again and lead him into the room. âgot some homework to doâ he mumbles and you nod as he sets himself up in the corner.
âyou wont bother me just danceâ he says and you nod as you play the song of choice. no. 1 party anthem plays in the room as you move to the center of the room.
as you dance and figure out choreography along the way, you noticed katsuki was distracted. âyou distracted?â you smiled down at him and he contorts his face into one of confusion.
ââm notâ he defends and goes back to scrolling through the spreadsheets on his computer for an assignment. you stop the music and go to lay down next to katsuki.
you sigh, tired. âtheres a frat party this fridayâ he says typing on his computer and you turn to look at him. âalready?â you ask and he nods. âyea my fratâ he says it like its not new information to you.
âhold on you joined a frat?!â you said sitting up and he shrugs. âyea with the boysâ he says it like its casual. âand whoâs the boysâ you mock still in shock. âkirishima, honenuki, iida, kaminariâ he says still looking at his computer.
âwanna come?â he asks and looks at you. you thought about it. âsure why notâ you shrug getting up and playing the music again as katsuki watches you silently in awe.
â~*
wednesday comes and you sit next to katsuki in a stool. your baking class being a weekly class held on wednesdays. your professor is going over the syllabus and the many recipes youâll be doing this quarter.
you nudge katsuki playfully and he nudges you back. âokay class weâll start off with an easy recipe, brownies!â she says as she pulls the recipe onto the screen. âyouâll be working alone for this one, but in future there will be group assignmentsâ she says as you all got up to grab aprons and the utensils.
âmine are gonna come out betterâ katsuki says as he starts cracking eggs into his bowl. ânuh uhâ you said and rolled your eyes playfully as you get to work making brownies from scratch.
katsuki gets distracted watching you mix the ingredients together. âtake a picture kats itâll last longerâ you said looking up at him and winking before moving to grab a tray to dump your mix in.
he starts mixing his ingredients, embarrassed he got caught. you smirk to yourself as you dump your mix in and move towards the oven popping yours in and setting a timer on your phone. katsuki follows you shortly after and pops his in.
ânow we wait to see whoâs is the bestâ he taunts looking down at you and moving to clean up his area. between the time it takes to clean up your respective areas, your timer goes off. you happily move to get your brownies out carefully. you bring it back to your station and grab a knife.
you start cutting it into 8 even pieces as bakugoâs timer goes off and he grabs his out of the oven. âmine smell so goodâ you tease as you carefully continue cutting as katsuki starts cutting his.
you pull out a piece gently setting it down on a paper plate provided by your professor. once the class settles down and everyoneâs done, she comes around to taste test them.
âyour name honey?â she says waiting to write it down on the grading sheet she was giving out to students after grading their brownies. ây/n l/nâ you smiled at her as she quickly writes it down. she takes a bite and she immediately hums indicating its good.
âyou added a little something in here huhâ she smiles writing down a 30/30 on your sheet and handing it to you. she moves on to katsukiâs. she takes a bite and she nods as she chews. âsomethings missingâ she whispers to herself.
she gives him a 28/30 and you stifle your laugh as he looks down at you as she walks away to grade other brownies. fuck you, katsuki mouths and you smile up at him. âclass dismissedâ your professor said and everyone got up taking their brownies in tupperware.
âwanna taste mine?â you playfully asked as katsuki held both of your bags and walked in the direction of the dorms. âfuck youâ he looks the other way. he knows heâll definitely steal one later.
â~*
friday rolls around and you slip on a small baby pink dress. you throw on a white cardigan and pair it off with white heeled boots. you spray your perfume and look in the mirror.
you smile at yourself and grab your purse walking out of your dorm, locking it. âready?â you hear the familiar voice of katsuki bakugo and you turn around. he rakes his eyes across your body in awe.
âyeaâ you breathed out going red slightly and walking past him down the stairs. he walks you both there and upon reaching it, you instantly want to go back to your dorm. âdo we have to kats?â you asked as you leaned into him.
âcome on princessâ he teases and leads you into the house. youre immediately pulled into the kitchen where katsukiâs boys are at. âhey!â denks yells throwing an arm around your shoulder. âdrink?â he offers pointing at the assortment of liquor and tequila on the countertop.
ânot made by youâ katsuki grumbles as he pours himself some water. âyou arent drinking kats?â you ask quietly playing with your sleeves nervously. he only shakes his head and you look at eijiro.
he smirks at you and katsuki and he wiggles his eyebrows at you. you turn red and look the other way. juzo smiles at you and you smile back. âwant anything to drink?â he asks as he bends down slightly to say it into your ear for you to hear.
you nod your head and he extends his hand out to you, for you to take. you take it as he leads you to the countertop where all the drinks are. katsuki watches carefully, denki and eijiro catching on. tenya walks in and does handshakes with all of them.
âso heres vodka we can mix it with anything youâd likeâ juzo starts and you look up at him, nodding along. ârum with coke is another optionâ he points out and you nod your head again. âwhats your pick?â he asks leaning against the counter looking at you.
you scan the options and eye the rum. âa rum with coke pleaseâ you smile sweetly up at him and he gets to work mixing it for you. you watch him intently and once heâs done, hands it to you. katsuki watches with his arms crossed and jaw clenched.
denki pats his shoulder roughly. âlighten upâ he slurs and goes to dance with some girl that pulled him out of the kitchen. he comes back stumbling before heâs officially out of the kitchen. âdont let your ego get to you, admit you like her broâ and then heâs officially dragged out.
eijiro and tenya smirk at katsuki and nod and all he could do was scoff and rolls his eyes. âi dontâ he grumbles. âdude the way you look at her says so muchâ eijiro says and katsuki only shakes his head. âdont miss out on itâ tenya says passing by and shooting a small smile to katsuki.
he scoffs again watching you and juzo. you guys laugh at something he apparently said and his stomach does a flip. whatâs so funny? âprobably just 2 juzâ you giggle as you watch him mix up another drink for you.
âgood callâ he nods finishing it up and handing it to you again. âyou look really prettyâ juzo says staring down at you. katsuki hears this and scoffs again. you look absolutely fucking stunning in his eyes. you blush and look down letting out a small thank you.
juzo wraps an arm around your waist cautiously and leads you out of the kitchen. you smile at katsuki on your way out giving him a small bye and he tries to give you a smile, but fails. you sit on the stairs all night talking with juzo.
you got to know each other and when katsuki comes to collect you to walk you back to your dorm, you give juzo a smile, a hug, and your number. âgoodnight juzâ you smile down at him and he lets a goodnight with the biggest smile on his face.
katsuki leads you out of the house and begins the walk across campus. âkats i did it!â you said excitedly shaking his shoulder. âi seeâ he says sarcastically. you push him lightly âcome on be happy for me!â you said with such excitement. âlet me know if i have to beat him upâ he mumbles and you nod your head.
âyou gonna start looking for someone?â you nudge his arm and he shakes his head no. âdont have the time for itâ is all he says and you shut up the rest of the way back to the dorms. you unlock your door and look up katsuki. âhow was it?â he asks indicating your very first party.
âloved it, will go again sometimeâ you smiled up at him. his heart tugs at your smile. he moves a piece of your hair behind your ear and smiles softly at you. âgoodnightâ he mumbles hesitantly moving forward to plant a kiss on your forehead.
ânight katsâ you smiled up at him and he moves out of the way so you can close the door. he stares at your door and mentally curses himself. the idiots are right.

Masterlist: Here
It had been a year since the custody battle, since Rafe and you had found yourselves standing side by side, figuring out this whole "family" thing. A year since both of you issued a restraining order against Ward, and the judge granted it. A year since you stopped pretending you didnât feel something for him, and he stopped acting like he was too good for anyone, especially you. Now, the chaos of life had settled into a strange, beautiful rhythm. It wasnât perfectâfar from itâbut it was yours.
And, somehow, against all odds, the three of you had made it work.
âŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻ
The morning sun streamed through the kitchen window, where you stood trying to assemble breakfast. You had learned, over time, that cooking for Willa was an Olympic sport. Every time you managed to whip together a simple meal, she somehow managed to flip the situation on its headâliterally.
"Willa, no!" you heard Rafe call out from the living room. You looked up just in time to see him frantically trying to stop her from scaling the couch like some sort of tiny, diaper-clad Spider-Man. âYou canât climb up there!â
But Willa was undeterred. She gave a small shriek of triumph, her baby legs scrabbling up the cushions like she was born to conquer furniture. You had to admit, you were impressed.
"I swear sheâs part monkey," you muttered under your breath, flipping pancakes with a practiced hand.
Rafe stumbled into the kitchen, his hair sticking out at odd angles, the look of a man who had given up on ever having a decent morning.
âYou say that like itâs a surprise,â he deadpanned, rubbing his face. âWeâve had this conversation a hundred times. No more couch climbing. Sheâs already an inch away from that giant coffee table, which, let me remind you, is made of solid oak. And do you know what happens when Willa decides gravity is optional?â
You snorted. âWe end up on the floor with her holding a half-empty juice box like sheâs just conquered the world, while you scramble to pick up the pieces of your dignity.â
He shot you a pointed look. âExactly.â
You set the pancakes aside and wandered over to rescue Willa, who was now attempting to climb up the back of the couch like a small, determined mountain goat. Scooping her up with one hand, you held her up in front of you. âYou know, kid, youâre lucky youâre so cute, because if I had to stop doing my work every time you decided to do a backflip off a chair, Iâd be in therapy by now.â
Willa gurgled, her eyes wide and innocent, as though she didnât have a single rebellious bone in her tiny body.
Rafe leaned against the doorframe, folding his arms. âIâm just saying, if sheâd stop doing that, maybe I could get ten minutes of peace. But no. We live in a house of chaos.â
You smirked, watching as Willa grabbed his shirt and yanked. âIf sheâs chaos, youâre the tornado that hits right after,â you teased, making Rafe roll his eyes dramatically. âJust admit itâyou love it.â
He groaned but couldnât hide the small smile tugging at his lips. âYeah, yeah, I love the chaos. But you have to admit itâs a lot of work. I mean, whoâs going to put together her tiny little rocking horse without accidentally breaking something?â
âNot me,â you said, raising an eyebrow. âIâm pretty sure I broke that rocking horse three times already.â
At that, Rafe laughed, running a hand through his hair. âAlright, Iâll take that as my cue to fix it. You keep trying to make breakfast, and Iâll figure out whatâs going on with the toy horse thatâs apparently haunted.â
Willa babbled in your arms, and you kissed the top of her head. âIâm not saying this to be dramatic, but Iâm pretty sure she is a secret agent in training. Iâve seen her figure out how to break into places sheâs not supposed to be like sheâs in a spy movie.â
Rafe raised an eyebrow. âSpy movie? Sheâs more like a tiny burglar who knows how to manipulate you with her big eyes and unstoppable giggle.â
You chuckled, nodding. âFair. But I still think she could make a killing in espionage. Maybe we should start saving for her college fund in case she ends up needing a fake passport.â
Rafe grinned, his mood visibly lightened by your banter. âIâm pretty sure weâre going to need therapy more than we need a college fund. But Iâll get started on that fake passport idea, just in case.â
You grinned back at him, feeling that familiar warmth settle in your chest. There was a timeâjust a year agoâwhen you had no idea what your future would look like. Now, here you were, a family, even if it didnât look like any family you had ever imagined.
âWell,â you said, turning back to the pancakes, âwe better get our act together before she eats all the syrup by herself.â
Rafe snorted and shot you a grin. âYou think sheâs not going to try that already?â
âŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻ
Later that day, after Willaâs nap (which, letâs be honest, was more of a battle than an actual nap), you and Rafe found yourselves in the backyard, taking a breather after the chaotic lunch youâd just survived. Willa was happily playing in her little sandbox, tossing sand like it was confetti at a New Yearâs party, while you and Rafe collapsed onto the porch swing, exhausted but content.
"How the hell did we get here?" you asked, your voice quiet, more to yourself than to him.
Rafe leaned back with a sigh, staring up at the sky. "Iâm pretty sure we got here because youâre too stubborn to admit you love me," he said with a grin.
You nudged him with your elbow. "Excuse me, but itâs not just me thatâs stubborn. Have you seen the way you try to resist her puppy-dog eyes? You canât even handle Willa when she does her sad little face, and you know it."
He groaned. âItâs my kryptonite. Iâm weak. Iâll admit it.â
âGood. Because that means youâre finally accepting that sheâs the boss around here. Weâre just along for the ride.â
Rafe chuckled, nudging you back. âIf thatâs true, then Iâm okay with it. Besides, she has the best team behind her, right?â
You smiled softly, watching Willa scoop up a handful of sand and drop it like a tiny little sandstorm. âRight. And weâre the best team for her.â
There was a pause, a quiet moment where both of you watched Willa. The future was still uncertainâlife always wasâbut for the first time in a long time, it didnât seem so scary.
âWell,â Rafe said, standing up and stretching, âI guess we better go make sure our future crime boss doesnât eat the sand. You know, for her health.â
You snorted, laughing as you stood too. âYou mean for the safety of our sanity?â
âThat too,â Rafe said, laughing as he grabbed your hand and pulled you into a warm hug.
It wasnât perfect, but it was real. And for once, that was enough.
âŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻ
And so, life continued. Chaotic. Messy. Full of love. Your newfound family was far from conventional, but it was undeniably theirsâand somehow, that made it all the more beautiful.
Plus, Willa? Sheâd definitely grow up to be a world-class agent of chaos, and Rafe and you would have to learn to live with that.
But at least youâd be together.

Lucifer gulped and pulled at his collar: Uh... y-you don't think you'd want to come over-?
Charlie: Dad. Now.
Lucifer: Yes. Yes, right... Adam... well, you see. A few months ago, we met for our annual meeting, and it was going great! Wonderful! Amazing-!
Charlie: Dad.
Lucifer: Oops. Sorry, hun. I-I didn't mean to keep Adam. I just... didn't want him taking Avery away- I lost him once, I failed you, I couldn't fail her... I couldn't let her go.
Lucifer felt himself tear up, knowing that his daughter was gone, he didn't even get to say goodbye. To her or Adam.
Charlie: D-Daughter? She's... how?
Lucifer: A few months ago, I saw Adam at a bar we went to. H-He was fucking around! Blending in! I... I wanted to fuck with him- so I spent some time with him, got him drunk- but I had such a good time, Charlie... even though he knew it was me, he was... kind and funny. I really enjoyed my time with him... it almost felt like there was no bad blood between us. Then he said he wanted to go home with me. So, that's where we went. And I'm sure you can guess the rest...
Charlie was silent for a moment: I thought Adam was a man- how? How did you-?
Lucifer: I may be the Devil, but I used to be an angel. And angels cause the human male body to... do some weird things. I knew there could have been a chance- but I thought it could be funny! He was such as asshole to your mother! And who knows what he was like eith Eve-! She had over nine hundred kids, Charlie! I-I thought it would be funny...
Charlie sighed: It's not funny, dad. He's a man. He's not meant to have children. That's not what he was made for.
Lucifer: I know... I know. I didn't think anything came of it! I never saw him, not until our last meeting. I could barely tell anything had changed- his robe is so... robey. B-But he... he just- looked so uncomfortable and looked in pain at times. When he went to leave- he curled over! He nearly collapsed, Charlie! Then he told me... we went to Sloth- and... she's beautiful, Charlie. She looks like him. Like his twin. She's just... gorgeous. Like you. I could see you in her. In her eyes.
Lucifer covered his mouth, feeling tears come to his eyes. He knew he wasn't the best father. He didn't know what to do if she kept crying or wouldn't eat or sleep, but he loved her so much.
Charlie: Oh, dad... I'm so sorry.
Lucifer: I-It's okay, Charlie. She's holy... I don't know how, but she is. She can go to Heaven. And... and that's where she belongs. To be safe. To be loved. She deserves blue skies and clean are... not... this. You deserve it too, Char. So much. I hate that you had to live through exterminations. I hate that you had to deal with my horrible relationship with your mother. I-I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry I didn't do right by you! I failed you- and now I'm failing her!
Charlie: Dad- breathe. You didn't fail me. You've been so wonderful to me. And I know you love me, I can feel it.
Charlie looked at Vaggie, who was looking concerned. She definitely wasn't happy about learning that Adam was in Hell.
She wiped her eye as she heard Lucifer cry.
Charlie: Dad- dad, I'm coming over. Just me, okay?
Lucifer: ...p-please Charlie. Please come over, I-I need you.
Charlie quickly started packing some things into a bag.
Charlie: I'm coming, dad. I'll even pick up those little pastries you like, okay?
Lucifer: Okay Charlie- thank you.
Charlie: You're welcome. Okay, I'll see you soon. I love you, dad. So much.
Lucifer: I-I love you, Charlie. And I'm so sorry for everything.
Charlie: Don't be sorry, dad. We've moved on from those years- you've more than made it up to me.
Lucifer broke down after Charlie hung up. He missed his Avery so much. He missed both of his daughters. He even missed Adam.
He hates being alone again. Somehow, he always ended up alone. He tries so hard, with everyone, but they always leave.
Is this how Adam felt in Eden?
That made Lucifer feel even worse. He ruined his best friend. The loneliness changed him for the worse, and Lucifer could feel it changing him, too.
What about an au where Adam goes to Hell for night trips, wher ehe just parties and fucks. He has a disguise (it's just a slightly different looking helmet).
Lucifer joins his daughter and her friends at a bar, where he sees "Adam". He instantly knows it's him, but he's curious as to what he's doing.
So Lucifer spends hours flitting with him and buying him drinks to get him drunk. But Lucifer actually finds himself having a great time.
Long story short- they fuck, Adam doesn't let Lucifer know he's Adam. He goes back to Heaven and after a few months, he finds out he's pregnant.
Which is fucking weird cause he's definitely a dude, and he's very dead. But Lucifer's the Devil đ€·.
He basically has to play it off as him getting fat. It's working until the next meeting with Lucifer happens during his ninth month, and he's goes into labor right in front of Lucifer.
Lucifer: Why didn't you tell me your were fucking pregnant!?
Adam: Because you didn't know it was me!!
Lucifer: Yes I did! You have the same face!
Adam: ..... Oh..

What is your favorite thing about each of your pets?
I love how no-nonsense Aster is. He knows the rules and their parameters and he doesn't stray from them except when it's funny. He's in charge and he knows it.
I love how sassy Nadja is. She has loud opinions and she will let anyone know in no uncertain terms what they are. She's also more handsy than my other cats and will pick things up with her paws or resort to slapping much faster than them. It makes for great physical comedy.
I love that Cheza is a one person cat that you have to earn trust from. It makes you feel very special when you realize that you are the one who gets to pet her, you are the one who can feed her from your hand, and she will give her affection to nobody else.
I love how sweet Klaus is. He's a cute smoochable baby with a soft soft tummy that he will let you pet. He doesn't necessarily want to cuddle, but he will allow himself to be swept up and kissed with nary a struggle. He loves people and wants to be included.
I love how cuddly and chill Egon is. He wants to do whatever you're doing, and if that means sleeping all day or hiking all day he's down for exactly that, as long as he gets to be near his human he's perfectly content.
I love how brave and adaptable Tuunbaq is. When presented with a new task or obstacle he doesn't act fearfully, he doesn't balk or run off, he takes new places and people in stride. He's eager to learn more and do more and things that startle other dogs or cause them to shut down (like deep water or fireworks) don't phase him.

TellTales // Elijah Hewson X Reader! (Fluff) Part1 of 2.
prompt: It's a narration of how they are young and in a way they share differences, but they are in love. It takes place in a student environment (college) and continues with a car trip and in the next part reader meets the boys, the fic is just about how they feel about each other in the midst of everyday life and a relationship that is new. And although I commented on sexual relations, I did not describe the act itself, there is no smut. (This story is from my old blog, it's very old, and I decided to rewrite it)
words: 3K
You tiptoed your way through the bleachers, scanning the crowd for him. You hadnât explicitly asked him to come, but youâd dropped enough hints to hope heâd show up. Deep down, you understood if he couldnât make it, but the thought of him not being there still left a pang of sadness.
Either way, heâd be picking you up shortly after the game ended. Youâd agreed to spend the weekend with some of his bandmates and their girlfriends. You recognized them from glimpses in the hallways and the gigs youâd attended, but meaningful interactions with them had been rare. You were aware of the reputation youâd unintentionally acquired in that social circle but didnât let it bother you.
You hadnât dated much in life. In fact, Elijah was the only person youâd ever been involved withâboth emotionally and physically. While that choice sometimes stirred whispers or the occasional mean-spirited comment, it was clear that most people didnât care, if anything, they just found it curious.
âHow was last night?â your best friend asked, a knowing smirk on her face. Judging by your expression, she already suspected the answer.
âIt was⊠great,â you admitted, the butterflies in your stomach still fluttering from the memory. Your hands felt clammy, and your nervous cheeks were impossible to hide.
âWas sex with Elijah really that good?â There was a teasing edge in her tone, but you couldnât tell if it was genuine or sarcastic. You elbowed her, though the heat in your face only deepened.
âDid he take charge? Or was all the work left to you?â she continued, her grin widening. You rolled your eyes, but her playful jab stayed in your head longer than youâd care to admit.
Hiding your face in your hands, you realized she just wanted to embarrass you. Asking her to lower her voice, she laughed and agreed, though it was clear she expected more details. It was your first time with Eli, and youâd been nervousâsomething entirely unusual for you from her perspective. Naturally, she wanted to know everything.
You decided to keep most of it to yourself, knowing sheâd get the picture. You settled on something simple: âHeâs not shy, but in a good way. Heâs... observant, and he made good use of that. Heâs fine,â you said, biting your lip to contain a smile. But the memory of him holding you, the way his hands moved so assuredly, and the soft sighs and muffled moans youâd sharedâit all came flooding back, making your heart crazy. You didnât know how, but it had been intimate and irresistibly sexy, leaving you on the brink of tears from the overwhelming connection. You couldnât wait to be with him again.
She nodded knowingly, her expression softening at your obvious happiness. âItâs nice that you have him. Iâm glad for you. He seems like a great guy.â
Her words made you smile, but they also left you feeling a little unsettled. Eli was your complete opposite in so many ways. You had no doubts that he liked you, but the thought of him realizing how easily he could find someone better lingered in your mind.
You were popular, but it was something that had happened by accident rather than design. You didnât care about it much, though you appreciated the âgood girlâ image that came with it. Eli, on the other hand, had a laid-back, effortlessly cool demeanor. He wasnât concerned with appearances and didnât seem to care about what others thought. Maybe that was something you needed to learn from him.
Even your interests didnât align much, but so far, things had been going well.
Lost in your thoughts, your friend shook your shoulders, snapping you back to reality. She turned you toward the crowd, and her grin widened when she saw your face light up. There he wasâhis messy curls catching the light.
âDamn, you really got Hewson to come to a college game,â she teased.
You couldnât help but laugh nervously. It wasnât exactly his scene. The echoing cheers of the players and the squeals of the cheerleaders were likely grating to him, but there he was, leaning casually in the back corner. You tried not to let your nerves spiral as you wondered how he felt about all this, about you.
Before you could respond, you spotted him in the distance. Your heart skipped a beat. He looked serious, like heâd rather be anywhere else, and for a moment, doubt crept in. But then his eyes found yours. His expression softened, his hands in his jacket pockets, and his lips curled into a small smile.
You waved enthusiastically, and to your relief, he lit up, waving back just as excitedly. He brushed his hair back, standing still in that secluded spot, and blew you a kiss. A few people nearby noticed, and his cheeks turned pink, but he didnât seem to care. Your Eli was there.
You threw him a kiss in return, and with his typical playful flair, he pretended to catch it, tucking it into his pocket. It was such a simple, teasing gesture, yet it made your heart swell. He might not love the setting, but he was there for you.
As you turned back to your position on the court, you couldnât help but steal another glance at him. He looked proud, as though being there and seeing you so happy made everything worth it.
The performance began, and you gave it your allâthe dances, the spins, the choreography. A small part of you felt self-conscious, knowing he was watching. While you were sure he wouldnât judge you, this wasnât his thing, and you worried about what he thought.
But when your eyes found his again, there was no doubt. It was you. He was there because of you. And that was all that mattered.
The game ended, and as you and the girls announced the final score, thanking everyone for coming, your focus was already elsewhere. You didnât even register who was speaking to you as you made your way toward Eli. His smile didnât falter, and he opened his arms wide, waiting for you.
Instinctively, you ran into him, throwing your arms around his neck. He caught you with ease, lifting you slightly off the ground as his arms tightened around you. Without hesitation, he adjusted your skirt, his hand lingering protectively to keep it in place. You had noticed this habit of his before, and though you found it sweet, you hadnât told him yet that you always wore shorts underneath. You were sure he knew, but the gesture was heartwarming.
You buried your face in his hair, letting the softness of his curls surround you. He nuzzled into your neck in return, inhaling deeply as if to draw comfort from your scent. For a moment, it was just the two of you, wrapped up in each other, while the noise and chaos of the game faded into the background.
When your feet touched the ground again, you lingered there, gazing at one another in a rare moment of silence. The world around you seemed to disappear, leaving only the warmth in his caramel eyes and the soft curve of his lips.
You took a small step further, closing the distance between you, and kissed him. It wasnât tentativeâit was the kind of kiss that spoke volumes, a mixture of longing and familiarity. You could taste the faint trace of gum on his tongue, a detail youâd remember fondly later. His hands trailed over your sides, light and deliberate, grounding you in the moment. He felt like calm, like home, and you melted into him, despite the murmurs and stares from the crowd.
The kiss ended quickly but left a deep impression. His hands stayed firmly on your waist, keeping you close, while your gaze was on his lips, too shy to meet his eyes just yet. He broke the silence with a soft kiss to your cheek, then your forehead, dotting your skin with gentle pecks that made you nervous. He always did this, and every time, it made you fall for him all over again.
âSorry for being late,â he said, his voice low and apologetic. âJosh needed the car.â He shrugged off his jacket and draped it over your shoulders in one smooth motion, pausing to kiss the top of your head. âKeep itâyou look cold.â
You clutched the jacket tightly, enveloped by his warmth and the faint smell of him in the fabric. âI donât mind,â you replied, light and genuine. âIâm just glad youâre here.â
You squeezed his hand, and he squeezed back, intertwining your fingers. âI know this isnât your favorite place, so it means a lot to me that you came tonight.â
Eli didnât respond right away, his mind swirling with thoughts about the people around him, whom he saw as unremarkable, living to meet expectations rather than exploring lifeâs possibilities. It was an opinion he had once extended to you, long before he became enamored with the way you danced, your laugh ringing through the halls, and your quiet determination to pursue what you loved. Now, he saw you differently. You werenât just going through the motionsâyou genuinely enjoyed being there, with your friends and your passions.
Such a realization had led him to fill your locker with lettersâawkward yet heartfelt, each building the bridge to this very moment.
He rubbed his thumb over your palm, a faint blush creeping up his cheeks. âIâll be here as many times as necessary,â he murmured. âI like to see you happy.â
His words made your goofy smile return full force. He placed a hand gently on the small of your back, guiding you toward his car.
Eliâs ears were still flushed as he opened the door for you, and you couldnât help but wish for more of that.
...
He sifted through his belongings, handpicking a few tapes and placing them on your lap. "Pick one," he said, anticipation lacing his voice.
You scanned the options before spotting a familiar purple cover. "Oh my God, it's Kate Bush!" you exclaimed, grinning ear to ear. It was surreal. Even as he kept his eyes on the road, his presence filled the small, borrowed car.
"Josh mentioned you were a fan," he said casually.
"And you went and got it for me?" you asked eagerly, pressing play without hesitation.
He nodded, watching your smile grow with every note.
Before he could say anything, you squealed and leaned over to kiss his cheek quickly, careful to avoid causing any accidents. Feeling at ease with him, you mimicked Kateâs vocals, exaggerating your facial expressions to match the drama of her delivery. He chuckled, thankful to Josh for tipping him off about the tape.
"I'm glad you're enjoying it, lil' one," he murmured, his voice warm. Your enthusiasm for the lyrics matched his quiet contentment in seeing you well.
He didnât know the words or the instrumentation but encouraged you to keep going, like your number-one fan.
"Did you know David Gilmour kind of discovered Kate Bush?" you asked between breaths.
"Iâve heard that somewhere," he replied, prompting you to share more. He liked Pink Floyd, you knew that.
"Itâs like weâre all interconnected, isnât it?" you mused, glancing at him solemnly before turning back to the road, tapping the melody out with your fingers. "I kind of like the thought of it."
"Yeah, itâs a nice thought," he agreed, his chest filling with a quiet warmth. Not ready to let the conversation fade, he added, "So, have you been checking out any of the bands I like?"
The world seemed to slow down for a moment. You noticed the softness in Eliâs features, a rare, relaxed smile that only appeared when he was with you. In other settingsâclasses, the cafeteria, gigsâhe maintained his usual unbothered demeanor, some cool smiles yet nothing more, which you found charming, but this version of him was your favorite.
He placed his large hand gently on your thigh, not moving it but bringing you a sense of comfort. You fingered the rings and felt the more prominent veins on his skin. Smiling, you placed your hand over his, threading your fingers through his long ones. Even brief touches like this filled you with quiet joy.
"I have," you admitted, feeling a little shy. "I wanted to hear what you liked, and I found one I really enjoyed."
His eyes widened in disbelief, and for a moment, you feared he might crash the car. But Eli, ever grounded, kept things steady. "No way! You've reached Blackstar?"
The thing was, you already knew Bowie, of course, but Eli saw him through a unique lens. He had favorite albums and endless commentary about every track. After spending hours with you the night before, heâd gone home, obsessed with crafting a perfect playlist to introduce you to his idol. He never imagined youâd actually listen.
"I did," you confirmed, suppressing a laugh at his attempt to maintain his unbothered facade, though it failed to hide the goofy smile creeping onto his face.
You grinned and began to sing, âJust like that bluebird, oh, Iâll be freeâŠâ pretending to hold a microphone.
He smiled as if heâd just won the lottery. âJust like that bluebird, oh, Iâll be free. Ainât that just like meâŠâ he sang back, pouring affection into every note.
Bowieâs words felt like home, like the perfect bridge between you. Eli never spared feelings when it came to sharing his passions, not like that, not for any special one, even when he initially thought your differences might be too vast. He was starting to see the beauty in complementing perspectives.
You loved Bowie, though not quite as much as he did. And, much like him with Kate Bush, you were learning to appreciate the depth of the connection through each otherâs eyes.
...
You were asleep, your hand resting on Eli's arm as he drove down the empty highway. He glanced at you, a soft smile tugging at his lips as he watched you sleep peacefully.
Suddenly, as if your mind had been waiting for it, you jolted awake, gasping for air and clutching your chest. Your body trembled as you struggled to catch your breath.
"Hey, hey, it's okay," Eli said, his tone soothing as he reached over, gently rubbing your back. "Just take deep breaths with me, huh?"
You nodded, your eyes wide with fear. "I'm sorry," you whispered, guilt heavy in your voice.
"Don't be sorry," Elijah said firmly, his gaze unwavering. "You're not bothering me. I just want to make sure you're fine, babe. Are you good?"
Leaning back against the seat, you inhaled deeply, trying to calm yourself. "It's just...a nightmare. I get them sometimes, and they're always hard to shake off."
"I see," Elijah murmured. "I've been there with you before, remember?" His sweet smile softened his words as he squeezed your hand. And it was true-it wasn't the first time, and you didn't need to feel ashamed. "We'll get through this, okay?"
Pulling the car to the side of the road, he opened the windows and doors to let in the crisp, early morning air. You sat quietly, watching as the sky began to shift, the first rays of dawn painting the horizon with soft light.
"It's so nice, quite beautiful," you murmured, feeling an odd sense of peace settling over you. Small but present, a reminder that he didnât see you as a problem to be dealt with.
Eli nodded. "Yeah, it is. Like you, when you're comfortable like this," he added, immediately regretting his words, fearing they might sound wrong.
You smiled warmly, your face heating at his unintended confession, making Eli relax. "Thank you."
He reached into the backseat and grabbed a comforter, draping it over you with care. He made sure you were snug and warm, his movements gentle as he tucked you in.
Stopping briefly, he stood silently by the car, watching you shift restlessly under the duvet. Your eyes stayed locked on him, steady and observant. Though your breathing had calmed, you didn't seem ready to sleep again.
"Do you want me to stay here until you sleep?" His voice carried a mix of awkwardness and worry.
"No," you said after a pause, your gaze lingering on his hands gripping the steering wheel and the way his lips were reddened from nervous biting. Your breath hitched faintly, betraying your unease. "Actually, we could stay here for a while." You loosened the duvet, the warmth of the moment overtaking your earlier chill.
He arched a brow, his features shadowed in the dim light. "Okay, but you feel good, right?â
"Yeah, just can't sleep," you admitted, your hand brushing over his shoulder and trailing to the back of his neck, seeking the comfort of his warmth. "Come closer. I want to feel you." You tugged him toward you, your words low and certain.
And Eli had that moment of realization, noticing how different you were from what others perceived, from the image they had built of you. He loved thatâthat this raw, genuine side of you was something only he had access to.
Eli hesitated for a second before leaning in, his nose brushing against your cheek. His lips met yours, soft and hesitant at first, contrasting with the sudden urgency in your touch. He melted into the seat, his hand naturally finding your waist as the kiss deepened.
When he pulled back, his forehead rested against yours, his breath uneven. The darkness obscured his face, but you could feel the heat radiating from his cheeks. His lips parted as if to speak, but no words came.
"I like how you taste," you whispered, your fingers tangling in his hair as you pulled him closer. The warmth of his breath brushed your skin as you trailed kisses from his lips to his nose, playfully licking his parted mouth along the way.
Your laughter filled the car when you noticed how flustered he had become. You relished the effect you had on him, thinking about how you might use it to your advantage in the future.
Before Eli could lean in for another kiss, his usual lovesick expression plastered on his face, you leaned closer, your voice dropping to a mischievous whisper.
"I need a favor, if you don't mind.â
...
You stopped in a dark, desolate spot, your hand crazy with sweat as nerves took hold. Elijah could tell you were uneasy about being out in the middle of nowhere.
"El, I donât want to be alone," you murmured, your voice drowsy but trembling with it all.
He didnât question it, just as he didnât even consider leaving you behind. Truthfully, he wasnât exactly thrilled about the idea of braving the rickety gas station alone either, even if it was just to relieve himself.
He nodded, his expression steady, trying to ease the tension in your own. The worry was etched across your face, and Elijah knew you tended to spiral into pessimistic thoughts in situations like this. He couldnât begin to guess the scenarios playing out in your mind, but he was determined to dispel them.
"Look," he said quickly, color rushing to his cheeks and necks, "Iâll step outside, stay by the car, and just use the tree right here. I wonât go far, I wonât leave your sight, and Iâll shut the door so youâll still feel safe. Just, uh⊠donât look, yâknow? Thatâd be awkward."
You nodded, avoiding his gaze as your hands fumbled for the radio, turning up the volume to drown out any sound from outside. It was a flimsy attempt to preserve the boundary of intimacy, even for something as brief and mundane as this. Still, you couldnât deny his plan made sense, even if it left you feeling slightly on edge.

Carstairs-Gray family Headcanons!
Theyâre all super close and enjoy spending time together
Kit practically WORSHIPS Tessa
Jem spends a lot of his free time just singing, because his lungs are finally able to support all that air
He sings beautifully, which made Kit make so many remarks on how Mina will inherit his singing voice, which she does not
She does have an incredible voice, but itâs nothing like Jemâs; itâs Tessaâs, but they donât know that because she never sings
Jem keeps denying Minaâs physical similarity to him, on the account of âsheâs so beautiful, who could she POSSIBLY look like besides Tessa?â
Kit picks up painting, and since his bedroom window faces the garden, itâs perfect inspiration
Kit introduces Jem to rock and metal, and to everyoneâs surprise, he loves it
Mina is besties (and eventually Parabatai) with Claceâs future kid, creating the next Carstairs-Herondale duo
Kit secretly learns Mandarin to surprise Jem, but he sucks at keeping it secret so Jem has to pretend to be surprised
Kit still has no idea he knew
The moment Jem and Tessa realize that Kit was deprived of love as a child, they shower him with love and do their best to give him the childhood he never had
A part of that is Tessa reading to him and Mina before bed (âThe Beautiful Cordeliaâ anyone?)
The first time Kit calls Jem âDadâ, he cries
Tessa doesnât cry when he calls her âMumâ, but she comes very close to it
Jem teaches Kit how to play the piano, because Kit thinks the violin is too hard (heâs right)
Mina, however, LOVES the violin
Kit buys her a violin of her own for one Christmas, and he manages to do so without complaining about the prices
Jem is a surprisingly good cook
Tessa is not
Always a good day when Clary and Jace show up
Mina has a period where she tries to learn every language she can; Mandarin from Jem, Welsh from Willâs ghost (because obviously heâs there), Indonesian and Spanish from Magnus, Hebrew from Simon
Simon loves hanging out at their place because of all the books Tessa has
Kit takes Jem to a âSabatonâ concert once, and manages to convince him that ear protection wonât stop him from hearing the music
Jem enjoys every second of it, and also enjoys not having any damage done to his hearing
Mina loves climbing trees
She chooses to fight with a spear, and not even she is sure why, but she enjoys it
She also gets really, really good at it
Jem tends to tell her âuse your voice. Sing, scream, talk, lecture. Because you might not always have it.â And she takes him seriously and never hesitates to speak her mind
Sheâs the flower girl when Kit and Ty inevitably get married
Jem gets introduced to cars, and is absolutely terrified of them despite Tessa being an excellent driver
Kit tries not to laugh at him for it, but kinda fails
Jem doesnât mind
Kit wants to study abroad, but Tessa doesnât allow it
He goes to a university in London instead
Feel free to add more!
