water rescue bidoof. a.k.a., beavers have claws

a real shame that none of the apprentices (before you) graduate from the guild after the lengthy mess that is the post game of eos. sure, the diary readings are okay but i want more characterization and growth from my npcs.

i headcanon bidoof becoming a water rescuer after the events of the game- probably through forming some kind of tactical exploration & rescue team with sunflora (leader) & loudred (second-in-command). the trio work pretty well together. loudred and bidoof evolve and they eventually manage to graduate after assisting in some natural disaster that strikes treasure town- something of that ilk. i dunno.

eventually, bidoof just focuses on what he's good at- swimming and sniffing out treasure- and water rescue just comes naturally to him both out of a desire to help and guide others and to explore new (and dangerous) places. thus, cave diving for dummies is shortly born and oh boy does bidoof get scarily good at speedrunning waterlogged dungeons.

My Experience with Team Disco (@discoindahouse): A PSA.

...I really wish I didn't have to make this post.

As a preface: Don't harass anyone. Most people in Disco are as much victims as I was. And trying to fight fire with fire won't get us anywhere.

Hi. My name is Wyatt. I'm the Aventurine City gym leader in Cristalin and the guitarist for the band Double Time.

And I was convinced to go to one of Team Disco's discos. This is that story. -W

The story begins some months ago. I was approached by a man who calls himself the DJ. He told me that the purpose of Team Disco was to bring novelty to music. I don't necessarily agree that today's popular music is boring, but art is subjective, and I can always get behind new voices in the industry. So I told him that sounds fun.

Nat, a friend of mine, was rightfully worried about the organization, but, as far as I was concerned at the time, they were just being overprotective.

There's this member of Team Disco. You know her as Rush, and that's the name I'm going to be referring to her by for this post's purposes, to protect her privacy. As I mentioned, she's a victim too. If you're reading this... I'm so sorry. I know what you think I'm doing, and I really wish I didn't have to write this post. Rush and I became quick friends.

A little while back, the DJ opened invitations to join Team Disco. I was talked down from this, because I already have several commitments, but I was also invited to come to one of their discos. Against Nat's warnings (which I once again saw as overprotectiveness), I accepted.

I was escorted to the disco once I arrived in the city by Mod Rush. I was anxious, but I decided it was just nerves over doing a new thing, and I pushed it away.

The first red flag should have been the sewer. Now, I'm not going to judge locations, I've been to some great out-of-the-way places, but if you, as an allegedly popular organization, are holding a party in an abandoned warehouse that can only be accessed via the sewer system... That might be something to start questioning.

I didn't question it though. I was busy pretending I didn't notice anything wrong.

The next red flag should have been the entire crowd waving at me in creepy synchronization. Once again, I ignored it. I was the guest of honour, after all, leaving would be rude. And maybe they were just tight-knit.

The music was good. The DJ sent out a Loudred, I participated in a dance battle. Rush came on stage, and she's a really good singer. All was well.

Until everything stopped. The crowd went completely rigid.

And Rush stopped singing. And... The DJ sent out a Hypno.

I panicked, but then, suddenly, I didn't remember what was happening. I shrugged it off and went back to dancing.

At the end of the night, I was convinced it was the most fun I'd ever had. And hey, it was a pretty good time, up until the Hypno thing.

I only got back the next morning. I got about three hours of sleep. Nat... was concerned, but I was still reeling from last night. It was the best night of my life, or so I figured.

The whole thing's kind of fuzzy, but I remember being... weirdly happy. Like everything was suddenly alright, and nothing would ever change again. I barely slept, ate, or drank water. Being tired wasn't on my mind, and I had better things to do.

Then came the day of the concert. I was still hyped. And everything backstage went great. I looked great, felt great. I was sure it was gonna be an awesome concert.

When I started playing, though, it changed. Something about playing my own music... broke the Hypno's influence, I guess. Obviously, I immediately felt like shit. I hadn't slept, and only minimally ate or drank water. I passed out backstage, and the rest is history.

...So that's what happened. Please, don't repeat my mistakes. And, I want to reiterate, I do not condone harassing the DJ or anyone else involved. This is just meant to be a warning. Thank you.

Muse: Gym Leader/Elite Four teams for BW3

- Following the prior post on what characters I'd like to see fill the Gym Leader/Elite Four roster if there was a BW3, I decided to fill out what Pokemon they'd use during their battles. The notion is that the characters now have access to Palden species/mechanics (Tera) through the collaborations with Blueberry Academy, and so have a few non-specialist types on their team. In any case where Tera isn't specified, assume defensive use. - The Triplets carry out their battles in triple/rotation formats. Inversely to BW1, the protagonist- Grey- faces the triplet whose ace has the type disadvantage against their starter, but they will use Terastallization to compensate. Criss - Purrloin, Wiglett, Simipour Chili - Capsakid, Darumaka, Simisear Cilan - Fidough, Smoliv, Simisage - Cheren will allow Grey to challenge him in any format, and has an appopriately versatile roster of Pokemon and Tera types. Single - Herdier, Hisuian Zorua, Squawkabilly Double - Aipom, Girafarig, Herdier, Tranquil Triple - Dolliv, Tranquil, Girafarig Rotation - Dunsparce, Hisuian Zorua, Herdier - Roxie is preferential to single battles, but will accept rotation battles. Her Tera preferences are dark and fire. Single - Toxel, Loudred, Whirlipede, Overqwil Rotation - Alolan Grimer, Koffing, Crobat - Lacey will naturally employ double battles. She'll usually aim for a Tera fairy, but has other options to cover weaknesses. Comfey, Venomoth, Whimsicott, Granbull, Excadrill - Drayton likewise prefers double battles, but he's willing to challenge Grey to single battles in respect to his grandfather/cousin. His Tera types focus on countering any opposition to dragon types. Double - Flygon, Ampharos, Haxorus, Kingdra, Archaludon Single - Druddigon, Sceptile, Haxorus, Archaludon - Burgh will focus on single battles, using entry hazards where possible. Spidops, Grafaiai, Forretress, Crustle, Leavanny - Brycen will accept either single or rotation battles, focussing on snow/rain strategies. Single - Vanilluxe, Alolan Sandslash, Walrein, Bisharp, Beartic Rotation - Vanilluxe, Abomasnow, Bisharp, Avalugg, Beartic - Skyla will accept either single or triple battles, making use of tailwind and rain. Single - Kilowattrel, Corviknight, Pawmot, Togekiss, Swanna Triple - Archeops, Drifblim, Pawmot, Togekiss, Swanna - ELITE FOUR - Each member's venue enables a condition that proves advantageous to their team. Elesa will have Electric Terrain constantly set. Rotom (form chosen at random), Togekiss, Galvantula, Pawmot, Alolan Raichu, Zebstrika - Marlon will have rain constantly set. Carracosta, Toedscruel, Jellicent, Starmie, Cetitan, Palafin - Marshal will have attack/special attack raised by 1 when each Pokemon enters. Mienshao, Lucario, Garganacl, Medicham, Conkeldurr, Annihilape - Iris will have the effect of Dragon Cheer applied when each Pokemon enters. Aggron, Lapras, Baxcalibur, Haxorus, Hydrapple, Hydreigon - And that's that. Wanted some personal touches on the roster (Skyla's Pawmot was gifted by Elesa, Burgh's Grafaiai reflects his artistry, so on) and some more imposing challenges here and there. Ditto needs no explanation. Zoroark because it can similarly cast the illusion of being another pokemon but has a core identity of its own. I gave all the OG Phantom Thieves an eeveelution and Umbreon is his. Darkrai because it deals in nightmares and is kind of freaky and spindly like Arsène. Litten because it is a little black and red cat. Marshadow because it’s a freaky little ghost guy who's also a fighting type and gets surrounded by blue flames when he’s mad

Ryuji

Dhelmise because it’s literally the ghost of a pirate ship. Jolteon for his eeveelution. Sharpedo because it’s a fucking shark torpedo. Scrafty because it’s kind of a shifty little dark-type mon with the moxie ability who’s friendly to its comrades but kind of suspiciously looked down on like a little punk bitch otherwise. Elekid because it’s like a little funky electric creature that goes 😈. Loudred because that bitch is loud

Ann

Oricorio because it’s a flamenco dancer like Carmen. Flareon eeveelution. Scorbunny because it’s an adorable bunny with lots of energy that shoots flames at people and kicks the shit out of them. Skitty because it is an adorable little pink cat whose only job is to be so cutie and I feel like Ann would be in love with it. Liepard because it’s sneaky and panther-esque. Lopunny because it gets sexualized by everybody but has a sweet and charming personality and also kicks the shit out of people

Yusuke

Hisuian Samurott because it’s literally an ancient samurai like Goemon. Alolan Ninetales because it’s an ice fox. Glaceon eeveelution because it’s also an ice fox. Froslass because she’s a little ice ghost in a kimono. Smeargle obviously. Milotic because it's "the most beautiful pokemon" and apparently an inspiration to artists all over the pokeworld

Makoto

Pancham because it’s like if Buchimaru beat the shit out of people. Miraidon because it’s a huge glowing blue motorcycle with incredible powers. Espeon because dude I was fucking running out of ideas with the eeveelution shit. Ceruledge because it’s a glowy blue ninja. Poochyena because it’s like slightly gothy but also very cute and I think Makoto would have kind of a connection to dark types. Riolu similar reasons because it beats ass but is also extremely intelligent and loyal

Futaba

Futaba's I am really happy with. 2 big fucking UFOs one of which has the "analytic" ability and the other of which is covered in green spikes. Leafeon evolution because it’s the green one. Charjabug because it’s green and electric and a little battery guy. Cofagrigus for palace reasons obviously. Swadloon because it’s green and shy and hiding.

Haru

Meowscarada because it looks like her and is also a grass type so related to her love for plants. Espurr because it’s tiny and cute and can cause massive explosions with its uncontrollable psychic powers. Sylveon because it takes so long to befriend Haru in-game and she doesn’t really flourish until you do. Medicham bc it’s psy/fighting. Jirachi bc it’s psy/steel. Tinkaton because it has a huge fucking hammer.

Akechi

Has his own Eevee that he trained independently of the group getting their evolutions. Picked it because it’s extremely common and socially acceptable. It will never evolve or take any of the paths it could have taken if it had reached out a little more. Rockruff similarly is super normie and cute but will evolve into its freaky Lycanroc Dusk Form which is kind of goth and uncontrollable and frequently canonically causes Rockruff to be abandoned by trainers. Corvisquire because it’s a crow but it’s like a mid-level crow so less suspicious than a huge terrifying Corviknight. Alolan Marowak because it’s got blue flames bursting around it and it’s wearing the skull of its dead mother and fights with one of her bones. Mega Banette because it’s insane and looks like Loki and is also a ghost type which I just like for him. Also sorry but it's literally the wailing ghost of a child's toy that was thrown away and is powered through solely by its rage at being abandoned and is willing to harm itself to harm others. FINALLY Hisuian Zoroark which is also a ghost type and the mirror image of Joker’s regular Zoroark. Has the wildcard-esque Illusion ability just like regular Zoroark.

Sumire

Pirouette form Meloetta because it’s surprisingly strong and kind of balletic/gymnast-y. Vulpix because it’s cute and looks like her. Cherrim for her third semester personality after gaining her identity back which I think would be in its cherry-blossom sunshine form for most of the regular game while she's being "Kasumi." Mimikyu also for obivous Royal reasons. Mega Audino because it’s cute but weirdly strong for a normal type, can hear everything and understand people very well. Kirlia because it’s also kind of gymnast-y and is stronger than it looks.
