I cannot stop thinking about Misfits and Magic season two, especially the new magic they created. I so DESPERATELY want to live in the world they created. And then, I realized... I do. Think about it:

Magic is a performance. It inspires and can be so damn FUN.

Magic is material. Change requires sacrifice.

Magic is intentional. What do you want? What is important to you?

Magic is a ritual. It is old- a tradition carried through the ages, but made anew. Like any good ritual, it is strengthened by a community.

Magic is shaped by location. Don't forget where you are. Where you are and where you came from and where you are going next- all give magic power.

Magic takes time. Because anything worth doing is worth doing well. Magic is not some flick of the wrist or fickle nimble working, but an an act that requires care and devotion.

Magic is creative. To create is to change the fabric of the universe irrevocably. It inspires. It can bring joy and sorrow and rage and love. It is a reflection of ourselves.

Magic is every day. Magic can be found all around us. Our relationships and bonds. Commuting to work and making the bed and watering the plants. It both is and is strengthened by the every day.

Magic is the small things. Little doodles and meals cooked and shared and cocoa butter massaged into skin and everything in-between.

Magic is KIND. By god, let magic be kind. Above all else, let it welcome and accept. Let it be a familiar face to comfort and hold you dear. Let it tell you the things you need to hear. Let your magic inspire the world. Let the sacrifices be worth it. Rule your magic, do not let it rule you. Let it beget community, strengthened but not ruled by tradition. Ground it in the here and now. Give it the effort and devotion great acts of magic are deserving of. Create. Create kindness. Make it every day, even if it's just a little thing, because the little things are magic too. Be kind, be kind, be kind.

We don't know how exactly the story ended or how this magic affected the world or what dangers it faced and who tried to destroy it and take advantage of it next. Because storytelling is magic. Kindness is magic. And in our shithole planet, Dimension 20 tells us that we have the power to create change. Everyone has this power, no matter what soggy, crickety old man tries to keep it from us and convince us we are not worthy of kind acts and justice and righting wrongs. We don't know how our story ends, but we get to make it. WE ARE MAGIC.
