what drives me up the wall nuts about dean winchester is that his narrative role pre-series was wife. we've all heard father by the front bottoms, the most dean song created, about a son who wants to kill his father because he loved the son's mother but not the son who was just a dose of reality (she was more like a girlfriend and i was more like your wife. she was high school and i was just real life). and it's so true!! 9x07 bad boys really solidifies it the way that, yes, it's about a kid abandoned by his dad which is very clear to everyone, but the moment john and sam comes back in the end he shoulders the classical role of an abused wife who won't leave her husband (although maybe she could if she tried. dean did) but decides to stay to protect their child. does it ever drive you crazy or whatever one direction said

I fully understand that this is just the nature of the game and that Brennan just wanted to run his funny scene with Mary Ann, but I cannot get over how funny the context of the “my dad makes benches in his workshop” scene is. Kipperlilly just fucking died. Everyone just got un-possessed by the rage crystals. Ruben’s memory of the past year has been completely wiped, while Oisin and Ivy seem to remember the atrocities they’ve committed and the trauma they’ve been subjected to much more clearly. And what’s Mary Ann up to? Shooting her shot with the guy from the bad kids that absolutely hates her. And succeeding. Iconic.
