One of my favourite things about Lord Huron's music is how there's often a guy who straight up refuses to die/pass on because of how much he loves being alive. Implying that the laws of nature are helplesss in face of his love of this world. Maybe *you* have to die eventually, but he's built different. He ain't going nowhere, he likes it here!

I did it again...

I need to stop listening to these songs while doing my Artfight attacks. It's really not good for my productivity.

Anyway, my housemate showed me this song and it's so sad, but also so good. And, of course, it inspired this quiet piece which I refuse to spend a bunch of time on because I've got OTHER STUFF TO DO.

Whether this is quiet and peaceful or longing and angsty is entirely up to you :)

I showed my friend Lord Huron. She loves kinda dark vibes and I typically don't. I like a little eerie, fey and supernatural stuff, she likes Dark stories.

She wanted me to send her 1 song and I said "Ok, you like tragic and very dark stories.... do you want young man who lost all his friends and can't find them and is so confused but is willing to die to try to find his friends? Or there's one about talking to a dead guy in a desert, or one about a guy dying in a snowdrift after trying to show off for the girl he loves?

Surprisingly she picked Frozen Pines

And four minutes later she messages me back at how it's wild that it's kinda dark - he doesn't know where his friends are, he's confused, he's actively in a dangerous and terrifying situation and he misses his friends so much - yet it sounds so HOPEFUL.

"That was a great song you sent btw I was surprised at the more upbeat tone to it, lonely but hopeful. And I really liked the beat. I like beats like that, that kinda make your heart race a little bit with wonder and whimsy."

And I realized yeah

I think that's why I love LH's music

I can't deny that Vide Noir (the movie) is kinda dark for me. I guess in that it's a very human setting? But the music has such hopefulness and life and it kind of presents the eerie and mystical and sometimes terrifying in such a compelling way. Like it's never the End of the Story it sounds like a beginning, it's so full of life and hope even despite some of lyrics occasionally contradicting that, it's so so good

God damn, you LOVE this song and yet you don't really, because you skip it everytime, because it reminds you of your ex, so you don't really listen to it because to save you the memories and thus the hurt. And now I don't listen to it everytime it plays is because it reminds me of you being reminded of your ex everytime this song plays. And to not be able to stand the hurt this song causes you, and to save you the hurt, i don't listen to it.
