Howdy! I'm Dia (19y, she/her) and and I'm looking for PR partners interested in engaging and creating a layered plot and developing characters both individually and dynamically!

English is not my first language but I am confident enough to be able to converse and respond frequently, although I appreciate your patience if I make any mistake.

I usually write between 5-8 paragraphs, but it can vary depending on how excited I am for the story. I will also always try to keep up with whoever I am writing with!

911 BUDDIE THOUGHTS

So after the last episode of 911, I need to speak out:

1. I'm so sick of people who write that using buddie scenes to promote an episode is the norm of media production, not queerbaiting. Of course, Buddie's fandom is the most numerous, it can be seen from any social networks and comments, so this step is quite dirty, but of course effective for promotion.

2. I've been watching this series for the last 7 years since season 1, but I wasn't buddie shipper until season 7. I mean, I caught a certain vibe in seasons 2-3, but only 7.04 made me consider this pairing seriously. The whole episode was literally saturated with Buck's jealousy of Eddie. And no, fans of Buck and Tommy relationship, we're not delulu. Buck literally tells Maddie when they have lunch at the call center that he was jealous and wanted to get EDDIE's attention. However, in the last scene, he really tells Tommy that he wanted to get his attention, which of course does not fit into my brain, but the kiss and the arc of bi-Buck really distract my attention from this mess. I would also like to highlight the scene in the gym where Tommy wasn't even there and the scene where Buck pushes Eddie on the basketball court. Can you imagine that Buck, our sweet kind-hearted Buck, is pushing his best friend for the guy's attention? No way. What I see is an incredibly jealous friend who is seething with indignation that Eddie is trying to replace him in his opinion. And the scene with Tommy, where he assures Buck that no one is going to replace him, especially since Christopher wouldn't allow it? The whole arc comes down to the fact that no matter how selfish it is, Buck wants to occupy all areas of Eddie's life (his free time hanging out as best friends, being part of his family with Christopher and being number 1 for his child).

I mean, this whole arc has only two readings - the first is Buck, who is not aware of his feelings for Eddie, being burdened by his heterosexual role and their friendship, chooses to turn his attention to a more accessible option - Tommy, who has a similar background and interests with Eddie. The second is, of course, buddy's queerboating,  writers/producers might well have no desire to lose some of the conservative audience by making Eddie queer character. So in this matter, maybe Oliver/Buck was just lucky to pull out a successful plot straw (I mean, at least for media PR), while Ryan/Eddie (who originally should have had a love line with Tommy) got an unenviable plot with Marisol. 

3.I can't help but speak out about this absurd Eddie/Marisol arc. I mean, it hardly seems to be successful in any way, not even for buddie's shippers. This is literally Cap saying that love can be met by chance, implying his relationship with Athena. Eddie listens to him and, as if trying to copy this scenario, "falls in love" with the first girl he sees. It's absurd.

4.Eddie definitely has a problem with relationships with girls. There is a clear feeling that he chooses them relative to their qualities, and not the special bond they share. He married Shannon because she got pregnant, and the opinion of religious parents played a role. Over time, Eddie could love the idea of their small family, because Shannon was a good woman, but she was not Eddie's partner, so as soon as the first difficulties arose, Eddie ran away, instead of somehow solving the problem, and then Shannon ran away. Sad.

Eddie and Shannon's attempt to rekindle their relationship was doomed from the very beginning, and I think when Shannon realized the dysfunctionality of their marriage, she asked for a divorce. Thanks Shannon!  

Anna was just another girl who met Eddie's criteria, an ideal potential wife and mother for Christopher, but who did not have an emotional connection with him. And although the screenwriters tried to fool us with a picture of the perfect happy couple, albeit slightly unsettled Eddie, as a result it turned out that he did not develop the slightest feelings for Anna. I mean, he had a panic attack at the thought of Anna as his wife!! What a shame!

5.I understand that some people have been watching the show for so long that they start to forget the plot of the first seasons of the series. However, I advise you to review the flashbacks with Tommy in order to form an opinion about him not as Buck's love interest. but behind the beautiful picture there is a completely faded and indifferent character to the fate of the team members. His evolution after he changed jobs and came out of the closet is pretty ridiculous. Yes, I see a handsome, confident man who has done just one good deed so far. But I still have no idea where this evolution comes from. Does coming out make you a different person? Doubtful. Lou is a wonderful actor, but I don't share Tommies's admiration as a character. He's cool and confident, but there doesn't seem to be anything behind that facade.

6. Buck and Tommy. The sexual energy between the characters, which is useful for creating spectacular passionate kisses and perhaps something more, is undeniable. I like to see Buck exploring his sexuality. But as for the emotional component? An absolute hopeless abyss. The scene with the costumes for the bachelor party was quite revealing. Is it possible to fill it with a decent emotional component? With the good work of the screenwriters, yes. But the truth is that good true canonical engames click right away (Madney, Cap and Athena).

7. Should we expect a Buddie canon? I think season 7 can be considered the last to summarize this issue. Remembering such series as Castle, Bones and the Mentalist, the pairs of main characters did not become canon right away, where by season 4-6. Perhaps the pair of Jane and Lisbon was the longest in this matter, and the most controversial according to the reviews of the audience (meaning that not everyone believed that there would become canon couple). They only got together in the season 6 finale. This is also season 6 for Badie, so I think everything will be resolved this season. Waiting for the canon in season 8, unless a direct indication is given in the finale 7 (awareness of the feelings of at least one of them)!would be absurd. I'm not calling on buddies's entire fandom to quit watching the series (although in the case of outright queerboating of this fandom, it would be fair), but I would urge my sensitive friends to stop deluding themselves at the end of this season.

7. To sum up, I would advise the screenwriters to start writing good love lines for Buck and Eddie, if they are at least as capable of it. Because what's happening on the screen right now is pretty disappointing.

first of all, the idia nui is sentient, let's get that over with. idia nui is an exact copy of the real idia, just in tiny doll form.

he's only 10cm tall (or about 3.9 inches) so he can fit snuggly in your palm or your shirt pocket.

very, i mean very, affectionate. touch starved too, he craves and will soak up any physical contacts from you like a sponge. just like idia lmao

also very squishy and biteable, since he doesn't take any physical damage. use that information to your likings :)

now that's out of the way, we gonna talk about the interesting stuffs.

when i tell you he's a carbon copy of idia in doll form, i mean rook hunt level accuracy. the resemblance is concerning.

from the mannerisms to the actions, idia nui acts just like our local fire hair ipad kid. except that it looks even cuter, somehow.

idia nui can be carried to places. just place him on your shoulder, in your shirt pocket or hoodie hood. for fem aligned folks, you can even let him vibe in your bra pocket.

idia nui, of course, has quite a case of social anxiety. he doesn't do well with people, so hide his existence when you're in the presense of other human beings, please.

you can always share your love and interests with idia nui. he will listen to your ramblings with rapt attention and encourages you with his adorably shy smiles.

as expected, idia is seething with jealousy, seeing how idia nui can do things that he can't. social anxiety fucks with his brain so badly.

ans now you have two blue fire wet cats fighting for your attention and affections. let the war begin

all he can do is watching over you through his floating ipad and silently seething. he would gritted his teeth whenever idia nui notices the ipad and gives you affections, and will explode in flames if the nui sends him a mocking grin, which is more likely than you think.

If you have any worldbuilding ideas for any games you like i would like to hear them. Sits politely.

Generally, I try to keep stuff like that relegated to my own personal fan projects, just because I vastly prefer the wiggle room that provides. I don’t really like making major changes to canon like that, and just projecting that image onto the actual work itself. There’s a weird pressure that comes with that for me. If I have things stacked into a fanwork, that looks less like I’m wrong, and more like I’m vibing.

Analysis is a different beast. Though sometimes one must take a little bit of artistic liberties in an essay, I generally just extrapolate upon what’s already there. I try not to lose the plot too badly, though, lol. I like to think I just amplify parts of the text that are already there, and tend to keep things character focused. Such as my various analyses on “aberrant” sexuality in Pikmin, and how that ties back to the very heavy criticism of harsh, restrictive societal expectation and capitalism present in the series. And also my entire Homestuck blog.

I had a couple really eloquent paragraphs written about this previously, but Tumblr deleted all of them, so you get that instead. Lol.

That said… here’s some sloppy brief overview notes. Could definitely expand upon these, if there’s any interest.

In Graveyard Broadcast, my Splatoon “rewrite” project, the Octarian Military is structured in a specific funny way that makes “General” not be the Top Dog. The top dog is the Shōgun King, which is Octavio. Turf War is a propaganda tool, a surface-dweller having a relationship with an Octarian is seen as bedding the enemy, and you can get charged with treason for it. The segregation is enforced with laws and lethal force. The surface is extremely intensely militarized, yet has such impressive PR through its deeply intense levels of consumerism that hardly anyone even realizes they’re living in a military state.

Haven’t named my Pikmin fanworks yet somehow, but a lot of my worldbuilding is just compounding the already present themes. Hocotate is a deeply conservative hellish desert planet that is deeply intolerant of anything that dares to diverge from the norm. Yes, there are individuals who are chill, but the overall culture is pretty oppressive. No one’s truly happy under this system, not even those who fit the exact mold society wants them to fit in. I’ve also got a lot of Spec Bio. Pikmin is basically begging on its hands and knees for you to do Spec Bio at it given some of the weird lore it gives you, and the literal amateur xenobiologist main character, so I’m taking that bait. That’s not what you’re asking for, though, so… That’s for another day.

Jockbull Summer Week 7 Set A(25/12/23 -31/12/23)

Christmas week so don’t expect tooo much progress in these various area’s gang. I’ve not broken new PRs so there’s been a bit of a plateau and even some backsliding. I do have a plan to fix this however and it largely involves re-arranging my Daily schedule to put pushups earlier in the day before i’ve had my big evening training sesh.

2.

I’m opening up my competitive horizons once again to Smite. This feels like an appropriate JBS game because i can play as super muscular gods. So for the time being i’m gonna be sweaty as hell on Smite. Will i be good at this? Well i’ve been playing the game for almost 8 years and have never played in Ranked so your guess is as good as mine.

3.

The first pants down the chute. This is actually a more recent purchase and one that i actually liked. It was a part of my very first YoungLA drop. A pair of tapered track pants with a really nice dark green color and comfy material that actually fit in a decent way and didn’t hang off my  shrinking waist. BUT the lesson to be learned from this article and honestly most of them is about the level of care I show my clothing. When I got these I was washing my own clothes on a regular basis for the first time. And I didn't know about the washing instructions and didn’t care to do the basics. I was washing these in Hot water along with basically every other piece of clothing interchangeably, and then popping them in a super hot, super small tumble dryer for sometimes hours. The long and short of it is that these things are BUSTED and need to go. I’ve long since changed that mode of clothing maintenance and have seen a lot more success in the longevity of my drip because of it.

In episode 12 of the netflix baki one villainous character, Dorian, asks another vaguely less villainous character, Retsu what Strength is. Retsu responds that strength is “Enforcing my will on circumstances; getting what I want from any situation” And this is an atypical response from a piece of media, but it is actually very close to what the sociological definition of Power is. Most pieces of media will throw some spiel about overcoming obstacles or not compromising or perseverance. But I honestly agree with the Sociological-Retsu definition. There are many ways to be strong and to enforce your will and get what you want. But at the end of the day Strength must be an actively shown and enacted quality. It cannot simply be passive resistance. That is resilience which is also valuable. But resilience without strength is impotent.

6.

No new gymbros to report, but that’s okay. It’s weird tho, I went for Push day on Christmas in the hopes of finding a totally empty gym that I could just vibe and relax in while going heavy. But there were people there and like 2 or 3 different guys would not stop talking to me. Normally this would be fine but come on! On the one day i wanna just vibe and not interact that’s when they all bug me.

Dewey Finn Headcanons:

ADHD.

Not stupid by any means, but definitely struggled in school. Would be labeled a “problem child” by teachers because he had trouble sitting still or focusing on the super dry material, couldn’t engage with subjects that didn’t speak to him. Definitely has some PTSD about Star/Demerit charts from his own grade school days.

Gives the best hugs. Knows just how tight to hold you, and his body’s soft & comforting in all the right places.

Appreciates a good movie soundtrack. Very judgy if a song seems out of place given the context of a scene.

Favorite Muppets include Gonzo & the Electric Mayhem.

Very ticklish, but also sensitive about his stomach. Doesn’t like folks messing with his belly in public, gets flustered if the two of you are home alone & you come up behind him to give him a hug.

Likes his coffee black. Not a fancy coffee person - give him a basic pot (cup won’t cut it) of joe & he’s good.

His dead grandma used to knit sweater vests for him when he was a kid. Not sure if his current sweater vests were from her, or if he inherited them from his grandpa on that side, or if he sees crazy sweater vests at thrift stores & buys them because they remind him of his grandma.

Chugs his Respect Woman Juice. Won’t press his advantage, genuinely sees groupies as cheerleaders who hype the band rather than easy scores, wasn’t comfortable with “I’m Too Hot For You” but still tried to give it his all to fit in with the rest of the band. And he sings about “girls from PR” and folks fighting for his “chiseled rock god physique” because he thinks that’s Just What Happens when one climbs to the top of Mount Rock, not because he got into the music to get chicks.

He’s a lover, not a fighter. He will try to de-escalate or remove himself from a situation if things get too hairy. But if you lay a finger on one of his kids, you better run, hide, and pray to every deity you can think of that he doesn’t find you. He’ll talk to the kids about ignoring doubters & haters, remind them all the time just how awesome they are, help them channel their anger into their music or fashion or whatever, but the moment bullying or abuse becomes physical he turns into John Wick.

Beetlejuice Headcanons:

On the autism spectrum

Also not stupid by any stretch of the imagination, but dyslexic. He memorized the Handbook by listening to Miss Argentina as she explained certain sections to new arrivals.

He purrs when he’s content. Card your fingers through his hair, snuggle with him, scritch his beard while holding his face, and he’ll start motoring like a giant house cat.

His eyes glow in the dark.

He DEFINITELY haunted Pisa while the Tower, baptistry, and cathedral were being built! Not sure how much he can be blamed for the Tower & baptistry leaning, but you can see his signature all over the cathedral.

SUPER ticklish! Behind the ears, on the neck, under the chin, his pits, his feet, his belly - apply a featherlight touch to any of these areas & he’ll collapse into giggles.

He has density shifting abilities. So if he chooses, he can make himself light as a feather so you can carry him around, or lay on top of you as the world’s heaviest weighted blanket.

Lilo & Stitch made him cry. Lydia put it on for one of their family movie nights, and he was purple & teary through the entire third act. But when he saw Lilo got to keep Stitch, he started bawling. Stitch is now his favorite Disney character. (Lydia’s afraid to show him Stitch Has A Glitch)

Again, not sure how NSFW you want these headcanons, but I have Some Thoughts.

He discovered he could make clones of himself by accident when he was a kid. He was sad & lonely & desperately wanted someone to talk to, and when he looked up he saw a near-perfect copy of himself. He was thrilled, until he realized the clone wasn’t truly sapient. But they make for good party tricks. He tried using clones to get out of trouble with Juno, or to sneak out of Juno’s house. It Didn’t End Well.

He hates how Scooby Doo has desensitized millions to ghosts & hauntings. Getting mortals to see him was so much easier before they came to expect a greedy capitalist in a mask was behind every haunted house.

He’s the only ghost/demon that the Sandworms won’t eat on sight. He understands them, they understand him.

He hates running into dead kids. He doesn’t even try to keep them in the living world - he helps them go straight to the Netherworld & tells them to tell Miss Argentina that he sent them. She takes excellent care of them & helps them reach a peaceful afterlife. If the kids were hurt/killed by the adults in their lives, Beetlejuice will terrorize the guilty parties for a month until they either die of fright or get committed to a psych hospital.

iii.   i’m not looking to write either heavily nsfw or taboo interactions. i mostly wish to focus on slice of life plots and will refuse any subjects that don’t really fit that genre. if you’re looking for somebody to write predominantly nsfw interactions with as well as write about triggereing or taboo topics, we just won’t be a good fit.  

iv.   activity will heavily vary depending on how busy i am at the current moment. i’m a student, so during exam season etc. i tend to be much more busy, i’m also not the fastest writer so if you’re looking for rapid fire interactions, it’s safe to say that will be rare. i will always try my best to update my writing partners on what to expect though. if you’re patient with me, i will be patient with you as well of course and we can always chat even when we have little to no time to write.

Day Six: Scandalous Duck

Oh lawd who do I have that's scandalous. 

There is Bleu that is made by @fluxchix​   that I added things to when we were building characters together in high school and beyond. LAWD. 

Bleu is from a team that came from the planet Cheribu and not Puckworld (no hockey but MAGIC.) See after what Drake Ducaine had to do in the past to stop the bad Saurians, caused the planet to go into pretty much a nuclear winter. Headcanon was that Drake Ducaine’s time didn’t have massive space travel yet. It was a combo of victorian/some modern tech/steampunk. Maybe they could send a man to the moon like us currently but they weren’t a space travel society. There were good Saurians that helped them in the war and hmm, they felt like Puckworld may not stay survivable for long. So, they took some ducks to another planet in case Puckworld didn’t pan out. OOPS.  The ducks on Cheribu over the centuries have been very interbred with the Saurians that originally took them there. There aren't any Saurians left now today but there are many brightly colored ducks, with strange colored hair, feathers, and bills.  It's not unheard of some of these ducks being born with scales on their bills as well, or taloned fingers.

With Bleu she’s scandalous because she was an evil witch for a while on her home planet before changing her ways long before she was on Cheribu team. She is a strong magic user, and pretty much fills the ‘Wraith’ position on the resistance side when they get to Earth and California.  

She’s also very… I guess neutral in her alignment. I mean she’s FIGHTING baddies but sometimes she does BAD things to fight baddies. From the vain of, “I used to be a baddie I know how they think, and I have to do the same extreme to help/protect the innocent” type. How they originally meet the main Mighty Duck team (And a secondary OC team)  is she uses a spell to bring them to Cheribu and alters their memories to fit archetypes of what they would be like if they were born on Cheribu. They have no memories of their real life- and were made to fight some baddie on Cheribu that they needed help fighting. (Hint: If they had just asked they would probably do it.) After all, their people are distant cousins of Puckworldians. Ha. 

ANYWAYS - other Scandalous thing, she is very old- and it turns out- Wraith is her father. DUN DUN DUN. I headcanon Wraith kinda grey area too. Wraith and Bleu often talk behind both their factions' backs. Not sharing info like double agents, nah, just bitching because they’re both old and understand how sometimes this is all bullshit. Alright. 

Third scandalous thing she did - she may have hooked up with Phil for a while. 

So like, oh god. How do I explain myself. I hook up my more serious main OC Duluna with Nosedive but she has more patience for idiots and Nosedive in the long run isn’t that dumb. Bleu is also serious with past angst. But no patience for idiots. But then again, is Phil not completely dumb? I mean, he’s technically a good manager, right? He made the team enough money to build a supercomputer and base under the rink. The show mentions having to do stupid commerical ad stuff that they begrugingly do probably cuz MORE MONEY FOR TECH. And Phil does find them extra stuff to do that pays soooo??? 

Also, alien duck team is just widely accepted by Earthlings because they play hockey?? Like there are so many other cartoons with heroes that are ‘others’ with a human friend and they’re not accepted by society. Phil used sports mentality and capitalism to just like - have humans just accept alien ducks. I don’t see Elisa Maza, April O’Neal, lawd Charley from Biker Mice, and what not doing that for their hero buddies. Mutants would be accepted if Phil was doing PR for the X-Men like damn. So yeah, Phil being the best human friend he gets a little duck dating from Bleu, as a treat.

Also main reason I decided to ship Bleu and him a bit is because of those Malfinia and Connecticut Clark comics. That's pretty much their vibe. Ha.

Ignore the one eye color being smaller than the other I used to have her have one eye do that when she was casting magic but its probably dumb now OH THE THINGS I THOUGHT COOL WHEN I WAS A KID.

why you can't compare buddie to destiel (from someone who ships both)

this is kind of addressing the recent negativity in the buddie tag, but it's also a collection of my thoughts and reasoning for being buddie-positive despite my experiences with destiel and spn in general. the text of 911 is not really discussed at all, and this is relatively spoiler-free, so if you're thinking of watching 911 I encourage you to read it. if you haven't seen both shows it probably won't make perfect sense, but I wrote this with spn fans who haven't seen 911 in mind, since that's most of my followers (and also seems to be where much of the negativity was coming from) pretty long post under the cut to save your dash

I just want to prepare y'all for the fact that buddie could be the slow burn will they/won't they mlm romance we've been waiting for practically forever.

at this point it's not fair to call it queerbait because where their relationship is now fits the characters and their development. this is not like destiel, where there were many moments over the years that could've ended with them getting together and it would've made sense with the story. buddie right now is in this sweet, wholesome pre-relationship kind of place, which on its own is a compelling dynamic and so fun and good to see. a resolution of it right now would feel out of character—they both still have some development to do before that would feel natural. and so, I don't think we can really call it queerbaiting unless the characters get to that point and there is still no resolution.

also I'd like to point out the overall positivity from the cast when it comes to buddie. both Eddie's and Buck's actors have said (I'm paraphrasing cast statements in this post unless they are in quotations) positive things about the pairing, and Buck's actor has said that he likes the interpretation of Buck as queer, and he would be happy if the writers took his character in that direction. also Eddie's actor with "that's what they all say" when buddie was referred to as a "bromance". Jennifer Love Hewitt, who plays Buck's sister (another main character), is very supportive of buddie, saying she's "rooting for it", that it would be "amazing", she doesn't "see how it couldn't happen one day". this was in response to hearing that a fan insists Buck and Eddie will be a couple. She flat-out said "I think so, too." She jokes about buddie with Buck's and Eddie's actors all the time. Also, my favorite bit from the video of her saying all this, "Let's manifest it together!"

It's safe to say this is a VERY different environment to spn. I don't think I've ever seen a cast this positive about a show's main non-canon queer ship before. NEVER. I think it's safe to say that if/when buddie is canonized, the cast will be just as excited as the fans—at least JLH will be! Add into the fact that the show's PR seems to be leaning into bi buck and buddie right now, it's a VERY different vibe than spn had, definitely. There's no gaslighting of the fans here, at least not that I've seen. also, although 911 has a large casual viewership, I think it's safe to say the GA would not be upset by buddie—there are only 3 serious, long-term romantic relationships involving main characters in this show, and one of them is a lesbian marriage with two children. And yes, the characters are shown being lesbians, it's not just a stated fact; the audience is privy to their relationship (and their interactions with their adorable kids). I think it's safe to say that buddie would go over well with the fans, even the casual viewers (of which there are many). buddie doesn't seem to be a huge divider in fandom like destiel is, either. reactions generally seem to be either "I ship it" or "I don't care either way."

Also I'd like to point out that while yes, it's possible that buddie is only bait (which would be disappointing), there's a reason queerbaiting works. people WANT to be queerbaited, because it's nearly indistinguishable from a slow burn will they/won't they queer romance. queerbaiting allows fans to make theories, create fan content (including fic), and keeps them engaged with the dynamic and the show. fans who are vulnerable to queerbaiting want a slow burn will they/won't they queer romance, which is currently an almost completely untapped market. spn could've tapped it, but despite the huge fandom they did not. there are SO MANY people outside of spn fandom who want a slow burn mlm romance, one that keeps the audience guessing, one that's will they/won't they, one that is not guaranteed, and that is why queerbaiting works so well. the audience doesn't just want the payoff, they also want the build-up. the longer the build-up, the higher the payoff, and the suspense of the build-up is gone if you know from the start that the payoff is definitely coming. that's part of why malec from shadowhunters didn't fully tap this market—there was no question of if, only the question of when (which wasn't really a question either, given there was an episode in season 1 literally titled "malec" when they got together.) the characters were always queer, the show being an adaptation of a book series where they were in a relationship and eventually had children together.

this was why November 5th was such a big deal—fans were so far past the will they/won't they aspect of destiel, firmly believing that destiel would always end as a "won't they" and not a "will they" that when cas confessed his romantic love for dean, destiel trended on Twitter over the US election. you all know that story, but maybe not everyone reading this knows that after Nov. 5 there was a case of hundreds if not thousands of spn fans experiencing love sickness because of the confession scene. the payoff of making destiel fully canon (and reciprocated, in English) would've been huge. fans would've been throwing their money at the c/w.

which leads me to the possibility (this is not at all me saying that I think this happened or even is likely, just that it's one possibility that /could/ have happened) that buddie started as bait, that the writers never intended for them to be a couple, but saw fan reactions to buddie during season 2 and started to lean into it in season 3 (and 4 so far, but it just started so I don't want to make any generalized statements about it) possibly still as bait or maybe not deciding yet if they'll go anywhere with it. and then maybe they saw destiel trending on November 5th, realized just how BIG the market for a slow burn will they/won't they mlm romance is, and said "hey, we already have the foundations for one of those. why not go for it and draw in all those viewers who clearly want one so badly?"

if buddie goes canon, because the cast and PR have been so positive about it, unlike spn, and because of the text of the show itself, the show's creatives could VERY EASILY claim that they were never baiting, that it was all an intentional slow burn will they/won't they romance from the beginning, and most people would believe them; there isn't really any evidence to the contrary, although I am sure there would be at least a few fans convinced it started as queerbaiting, and there might not be any evidence to refute that, either.

the point is that 911 is currently sitting on a gold mine. if they play their cards right, and execute buddie well, they will monopolize this market that old straight white men serving as network executives have failed so far to really tap into. they queerbait without the payoff, which gives the show a reputation among those in the market who haven't seen it, guaranteeing they will never watch it. shows in this vein: sherlock (huge reputation for queerbaiting and a finale fans didn't like) and spn (huge reputation for queerbaiting and a finale fans didn't like). spn got so, so close with cas's confession but then continued to gaslight its fans, and PR did not lean into destiel AT ALL. if 911 did buddie? the PR team would be all over it. it would be a moneymaker, big time, and Fox knows it. if buddie, or even just bi buck, went canon, tumblr would be all over it. viewership for the show, which is already impressive, would skyrocket. 911 would monopolize this market, because fans wary of queerbaiting would watch it with the knowledge that the payoff is there, and there really wouldn't be a competitor until other shows saw the success of buddie and followed suit with their own pairings, and given the fact that the market specifically wants /slow burn/ queer romances, that might take a couple years. that puts 911 in a really good position, where suddenly the fandom of the show, not just the GA, is very large and likely very dedicated to the show. the success of canon buddie might just change the landscape of TV in the coming years, showing execs that while queerbaiting does work, actually going through with it is really where the money is. 911 would not just monopolize the market for a while; it would pioneer it.

if buddie never goes canon, I would probably be a bit disappointed at the wasted potential, but unless the characters get to that point where canon buddie seems like the most logical outcome and they /don't/ go for it, I won't be truly upset because I don't think it's fair to claim its queerbaiting until then. I can't tell you how likely it is that buddie will be canon at some point, but it seems FAR more likely than destiel /ever/ did, and we ended up getting cas's confession in the end. I have hope, despite being hurt so badly by spn. 911 is a genuinely great show with some fantastic writing, and they don't leave chekov's gun unfired, unlike spn.

really, it comes down to this: if Jennifer Love Hewitt is allowed to clown for buddie, then so am I, and I'll enjoy this show—which is amazing even without canon buddie—while I apply my clown makeup.

what does the "heroine controversy" refer to?

Lol, oh boy.. this one is kind of a long story. Basically, it refers to the fiasco concerning Tales of Zestiria’s pre-release promotional campaign back in 2015, particularly the extremely misleading advertising of Alisha as the heroine of the game, in order to conceal the true importance of Rose (a la “bait and switch).

When Zestiria was first announced, Sorey & Alisha were the first two characters shown. As this is a Tales of game (aka king of using the traditional hero/heroine JRPG formula), naturally most people assumed that this meant Alisha would the titular heroine. In case you don’t know what “heroine” entails -- it’s usually the most prominent female character in the game, having a narrative that intertwines with the protagonist and typically (but not always) the hero’s romantic love interest. 

Well, Alisha had an assortment of promotional merchandise under her belt that would make most people assume that she fit the heroine bill 1000%. If you take a look at any Zestiria merchandise dated back to 2015, you can see... a very different vibe in how Zestiria was advertised. Most early merch heavily pushed  Alisha/Sorey, Edna/Mikleo, Rose/Dezel as duos, and Alisha was even given her own promotional figurine, DLC mystic arte, nendo, OVA -- you get the picture. She was heavily pushed.

Aaaand, here’s where things got messy. Thing is, Hideo Baba (the producer at the time) had never explicitly stated Alisha was the heroine officially. Many media outlets simply assumed this based on the advertisement, actively misquoting him and labeling her as such (Even their own mobage team in Tales of Asteria mislabeled Alisha in their description). Even when Rose was revealed a few months prior to release and many had noticed Alisha was suspiciously appearing less, it was already too late. The public had created a perception of Alisha as the heroine of the game. 

Aaand if you know anything about how Zestiria actually played out? This was the single most disastrous event in recent Tales of history. We’re talking massive conspiracy theories regarding the producer Baba tampering with the production, the staff members, rate bombs, mass returns, the whole 9 yards. Alisha's DLC episode was announced before this controversy, but the contents of it did nothing but fan its flames. Hideo Baba would eventually resign prior to Berseria and since then, the series has been trying its best to recover from that incident. In fact, a direct product of the heroine controversy is Tales of Zestiria the X and well.. it speaks for itself.

Simply put, it is a huge lesson in Colossal Promotional Fuckups. We’ll never know the truth behind Zestiria’s conception, but personally I am not of the opinion that Alisha’s role was tampered with. The scenario writer and even her very character designer has gone on record in stating that she was always designed to be a temporary party member, not a heroine. Rather, I believe Bamco's PR was just incredibly incompetent and likely not on the same page and Baba did nothing but make the situation worse with his interviews. It's a very tragic tale though.

Remember kids: always label your heroines!

Hello everyone! Since Season 3 was announced to start filming in February of 2021, I thought that it would be fun to make a wishlist of songs that anyone would like to see in the new season. Eret’s streaming very late for me again. So I’m not staying the whole time.
