Like my Blog, I’m curious by choice. It’s a natural instinct to want to know more. By nature I like to look at the whole puzzle and then do my research before entering my two cents to the conversation. Half theories and droplets of information is fine and dandy…. However it leaves way too much room for interpretation. Now you may say that’s hog wash and that anything we receive is gold.

But again… ever heard of fool’s gold?

We are given information purely based on what is chosen to be released. The way I interpret an event, statement or picture could be different than how everyone else does. I see a kinship with Nic and Luke while others may not see this. Does not mean that I will go and lecture them on why they are wrong while I am correct. (Also does not stop the TROLLS from stating their own opinions).

What we saw on the WT and with all interviews published, they hold a strong bond and respect for one another. In the past we were spoiled with the WT so we saw them together all the time. Now that we do not see them interacting or together publicly does not mean BTS they are not. They have other projects and Bridgerton (Nic did confirm they popped in and out while filming). I think silence and the fact we don’t see what we had seen before speaks volumes. Especially since the WT was supposed to be PR (“supposed to” being the word to focus on) to get the word out about S3 dropping.

When we see behaviors changing between two people, we stop and think. Or we should, some of us went to the theory that they are beefing (insert eye roll 🙄 ). Because we saw their beautiful performance in S3, we knew that they had great chemistry. Always claimed that they had a great friendship. The interviews these two gave. Ofta. Put ideas in our heads. But realistically, it’s known to happen. Friendship like theirs could grow into love.

You know, it occurred to me the other day that I've been the editor-in-chief of The Verge for over 10 years now, and a tech journalist for about 15.

And until just recently, it felt pretty safe to assume that there was a 0% chance the United States government would punish me for doing my job. There's a whole First Amendment, after all. We don't usually tolerate government interference with speech, and we have a high bar for how public figures like politicians and celebrities can use defamation law to shut down reporting that they don't like.

So it's been fairly disconcerting in these first few weeks of the second Trump administration to realize that there's suddenly a non-zero chance the government will punish our work. That all that talk about the media being the enemy of the people is turning into concrete legal action against publishers, broadcasters, and platforms that don't do what the Trump White House wants. There are new examples, big and small, popping up basically every day.

Just this week, the Associated Press was barred from a White House event because the AP Style Guide says reporters should still call it the Gulf of Mexico and not the Gulf of America like Trump wants. It sounds silly, but as AP Executive Editor Julie Pace says, it plainly violates the First Amendment. It's a clear example of the government punishing a company for speech it doesn't like.

And there are bigger, deeper attacks on free speech coming from Brendan Carr, the new Trump-appointed chair of the Federal Communications Commission. The FCC is pretty much the only government agency with some authority to directly regulate speech in America because it controls the spectrum that's used to broadcast radio and television. And Carr has started to use that authority to punish broadcasters for speech Trump doesn't like and even internal business practices that don't align with the administration.

He's opened investigations into ABC, CBS, and NBC in a way that no previous FCC would have ever done, and he's even launched an investigation into NBC parent company Comcast over DEI policies. By the way, this is where I should mention our standard disclosure that Comcast and NBCUniversal are investors in our parent company Vox Media, but it doesn't really matter in this context since Carr is hell-bent on punishing every media company unless they fall in line. I've talked to virtually everyone who's been FCC chair going back to the Bush administration, and Carr's interpretation of what the FCC is for and what authority it has over speech is about as autocratic as it gets.

Brendan Carr wants to be America's chief censor, and so far he is getting his way. This is really serious stuff, and it could have far-reaching consequences for how journalists try to report on the Trump administration, primarily by creating a real and sustained culture of fear, one that's already ripping through the corporate parent companies of major news organizations. They've begun rolling over and settling various lawsuits instead of fighting for our First Amendment rights.

There's a lot of pressure on that from a lot of different directions right now, but the thing that is most striking to me is that after many years of bipartisan universal consensus that the First Amendment is pretty sacrosanct and should be expanded, the Trump administration in particular is putting an enormous amount of pressure on speech. They're doing it while saying they are supporting free speech, but if you look at their moves, there's actually a lot of pressure on who gets to say what and when. And it seems like that is under remarked upon in this whole blitz of Trump executive orders, but it's very real.

Like they say one thing and they mean exactly the opposite. So when Donald Trump appoints Brendan Carr to be chair of the FCC, he calls him a warrior for free speech, I believe. And we see lots of this cult around Elon Musk as well, right?

Free speech, free speech. What they've done is they basically completely subverted it and reversed it, and they say, okay, here's what free speech means to us. It means not just any private individual or private company can say literally anything they want no matter how hateful, no matter how harmful.

And we, other private citizens, companies, we have to not only listen to that but amplify it, right? It's this notion that if I get kicked off of social media, that's my free speech being violated, even for public figures.

That idea of amplification is a big one. Private individuals and private companies are supposed to be able to say whatever they want in America without government interference. And part of that is also the freedom to not say what they don't want to.

The government can't compel someone into speech they don't agree with. And for the same reasons, the government can't force a private entity, like a social media platform, to host lies or speech the platform thinks is offensive. But the Trump administration isn't happy unless you're not only permitting but also amplifying their messages.

Twitter is not what it once was, as we all know, but I used to have to say when Trump was doing this in his first administration, the First Amendment exists to protect Twitter from Trump, not to protect Trump from Twitter, right? So the First Amendment and free speech should mean and does mean, if we're in any kind of reality, that the government can't interfere with speech. And yet, that's what these people are doing right now, is in the name of free speech, because what they're really trying to do is amplify their own voices and viewpoints.

They're doing stuff that would have been unimaginable just a few short years ago. Threatening reporters with jail time, threatening CEOs with jail time, threatening to pull broadcast licenses when they don't like how coverage goes.

Brendan Carr himself, a short three years ago, was saying things like newsroom decisions should be beyond the purview of any kind of government investigation or interference.

And now, what do you know? Now that his president has power again, he's doing exactly the opposite and threatening everybody he can find on all sorts of fronts and basically threatening them for the viewpoints and the content that they've included in their broadcasts.

So let's talk about Brendan Carr, who in many ways is the face of this administration's campaign against the First Amendment. Being the chairman of the FCC gives Carr power over speech, although not nearly as much as he wants. He's posted on X that he's having enormous fun threatening media companies over their speech, which is really not something you want unelected government bureaucrats doing in a functional democracy.

Since last year, Carr has put targets on ABC, CBS, and NBC over election-related coverage that Trump didn't like, and the letters he sent those broadcasters are basically extortion, saying that these companies could lose broadcast licenses for their network affiliates if they don't fall in line. He also sent threatening letters to social media platforms last year about their fact-checking programs, even though the FCC doesn't have any power to regulate speech on the Internet. This is a straightforward power grab and a big one.

Brendan Carr wants to be the government speech police, and right now it feels like a lot of big companies are going to let him. So let's talk about Brendan and how he turned into such a free speech nightmare.

I wanted to talk about something important today. Have you noticed, rentries all look the same. Profiles all look the same.

Everyone looks the same.

Have you noticed that? Everyone's blog looks the same. There's no originality. There really isn't. Its all copy and paste ibis paint edits and masks. Some are pretty but I'm not interested in following that same, bland routine anymore of fancy tags, typing with quirks, trying to seem "cool".

Everyone is trying so hard to make themselves heard and express themselves but the truth is, graphics and templates are less self expression and more watering your identity down to try to be aesthetically pleasing. While yes it's pretty to look at, it's all the same. It's all bland.

It does not make you prettier on the inside to have a pretty rentry or blog, if you are a nasty person you are still a nasty person. So for those who do not have a pretty blog just know that how aesthetically pleasing something is doesn't define how good it is, doesn't define the quality of your content or the quality of your identity.

HOWEVER, how pretty your blog is DOES affect how people treat you on this app which is horrible. You get more blind sheep followers that follow every pretty blog they see but let me ask you this. Do most of you even know which blog is which? They all look the same, dont they. You probably have to look for a while to find the right one. No originality.

Your NAMES and pronouns don't even mean anything to you on this app, you chose them from a list of aesthetically pleasing names that everyone else on this app also uses. No wonder you change names so often, you are not being yourself. You are being what you think is cool, and aesthetically pleasing.

Most of this content is all copy paste, copying everyone else, everyone is always copying everyone else.

It's all watering down everyone's personality to perfection and templates. That isn't reality.

I will be the first to say it if no one else will.

This is a message for anyone looking to blog.

Please just be yourself. It's alright if something doesn't look perfect. Genuinely. Just have fun, don't try to get formats and templates and masks, unless you really want to. But in my opinion, it doesn't look very good.

i know it’s like years old at this point but i love that one collab mumbo and grian did with tommyinnit bc it’s like the single most concentrated example i’ve seen of mumbo’s Chaos Nullification Powers

you get to see a bit of it on hermitcraft, mostly via his interactions with grian, but until seeing that collab it didn’t really hit me just how completely mumbo can no-sell other people’s attempts to control a situation. tommyinnit is possibly the single shoutiest, most chaotic minecraft youtuber out there, and in most videos i’ve seen he pretty much overwhelms everyone else and sets the tone for interactions because of this. but mumbo just. doesn’t let him. no matter how much tommy escalates in intensity, mumbo reacts with *exactly* the same energy he always does. grian largely comes across in the whole video as annoyed and reluctant to engage with the whole thing, but mumbo’s not even affected. he just rolls with anything he finds funny and basically ignores anything he disapproves of, only seeming more and more unflappable the harder anyone tries to get a rise out of him.

AND imo, this is the key to my favorite interpretation of him as a character

see, when the people around him are being more reasonable/calm, i think mumbo often comes across as anxious and a bit easily overwhelmed. the thing is, his nervous wet cat vibes do not scale. he has one setting. his responses to the last life ��ah-ha!’ jokes and to hermitcraft 8 starting to crumble to pieces under a falling moon are almost identical.

mumbo jumbo is inexorably and eternally Just Some Guy, but that gets stranger and stranger the weirder his surroundings become. the giggly incredulousness that makes him an easy target for goofy puns looks Very different when it’s also his reaction to the impending end of the world.

Me and my boyfriend grew up with very different styles of communication. I learned early that if someone asks you a question, you should quickly assess what the asker actually wants to know, and answer with that information, so you won't bore them with stuff they don't care about or annoy them by telling them things that they'd already know. And the problem with the way you were raised is that you always kind of assume that everyone looks and thinks about things the same way you do.

As mentioned earlier, my boyfriend and his family are not like that. He does not start to troubleshoot for the most likely "real" question behind the general one being asked. The first assumption is what goes, and if those tracks don't lead anywhere, that's too bad because there's no such thing as the second most likely option. I've had to learn how to ask more specific and less open-ended questions, because he isn't accustomed to the kind of most-logical-option leaps as I've grown up with.

His father is not autistic, but he does work in IT. I frequently need to remind myself that he does not hate me. If I ask him a question that can be interpreted in two different ways, it's best to assume he didn't pick up on the one I meant. So if I ask a question but get a different answer than I expected, his thought process is "you asked me a question, therefore I answer this question", and not "this question can be interpreted two different ways, one of which is practical for the time being and a sensible thing to ask in this situation, and the other one is a fucking stupid question. I will answer the stupid question because I've concluded that you are fucking stupid."

Kalim, admittedly, is not a creature of great thought. he tends to be dictated by his feelings, and he can be a little selfish sometimes

so when Jamil pulled him aside and asked him to just buy another bed for ramshackle, he ignored him entirely

why would he do that? the situation is resolved, and everyone's happy!

well... not everyone, but Kalim's happy!

he stocks up on Vil-approved snacks, insists you two braid each other's hair and stay up late into the night talking with no one to remind you to go to sleep

this arrangement lasts approximately one night

he's a light sleeper, and can be stirred by any sudden noise or movement

you appeared to be having some kind of nightmare

it reminds him of a small animal caught in a trap, struggling for its life. he can't bear to see it- it's cruel to let a poor creature go on suffering before you can make the kill

of course, instead of killing you (thank the sevens), he decides to comfort you

he presses your head against his chest so you can hear his heartbeat, and he runs his fingers through your hair until you calm down.

then he keeps you there, just to be sure you don't have another bad dream

if you gave him permission, he would gladly be all over you in seconds. kissing up and down your shoulders, caressing every perfect inch of your body, whispering words of admiration

but he's perfectly content just cradling you for now

hopefully, you will continue to have these nightmares and give him excuses to do this again

now, if it were you clinging to him- he might have had a good chuckle. can't keep your hands to yourself, prefect? I'm just that irresistible?

but the way he's holding you, the way his arms are so tightly wrapped around your waist, the way he's so clearly pressing you against him...

he hates to admit it, but you're an elegant sleeper. it's almost cute

the tension is relieved from your face, your breathing graceful and steady, and your perfect lips open just a sliver...

he is a perfect gentleman, and would never dream of doing anything without your explicit permission, but for one shameful second he thinks about how easy it would be to kiss you

... and then he quickly puts those thoughts aside and tries to get back to sleep

he doesn't want any dark circles, after all
