Hiii I have a bllk request- Sae and/or Kaisers reactions to their gf getting hit on :)))
Have a great day/night thank youuu :))
TRYNA GET WHAT’S MINE?!
featuring: michael kaiser. itoshi sae. itoshi rin. ryusei shidou.
n. i needed to rewrite your entire request again because the moment i clicked save, tumblrdotcom decided to not save it for me (yes, i wrote it directly in the drafts) + i didn’t proofread (too lazy). and well nonnie, this is ur req ^^ hope ya have an amazing day/night too :D
MICHAEL KAISER. you offered a polite smile, glancing around for kaiser. “why, thank you,” you replied, trying to keep the conversation brief. “i’m actually here with someone.”
the man ignored your hint and continued, “well, he’s a lucky guy. mind if i keep you company until he returns?”
just then, kaiser appeared, two champagne flutes in hand. his red eyeliner narrowed slightly as he took in the scene. with a dramatic flourish, he stepped between you and the man. “hey! am i interrupting something? oh wait, i am! oops.” your boyfriend grinned, feigning innocence.
the man hadn’t responded when kaiser slid an arm around your waist and pulled you close. he planted a loud, exaggerated kiss on your cheek, making sure everyone nearby could see. “just marking my territory. nothing to see here, buddy.”
“alright then,” the man raised his hands, clearly taken aback. “no need to get possessive. i’ll leave you two to it.”
as the man walked away, kaiser turned to you with a playful smirk. “but looks like you have an admirer. should i be worried, mein liebling?”
“not at all, mr. jealous, not at all.” you said laughing whilst lightly smacking his chest.
“good. because i’d hate to have to fend off any more admirers tonight. it’s exhausting work.”
ITOSHI SAE. “my partner is waiting for me, sorry,” you shifted uncomfortably, glancing in the direction where sae had gone. “oh, come on, don’t be like that,” the stranger persisted, leaning in even closer. “one dance wouldn’t hurt, would it?”
then however, you felt a familiar presence beside you. sae had returned, his face a mask of cold fury. “is there a problem here?” he asked, voice sharp and his eyes glaring daggers at the stranger.
the stranger straightened up, taken aback by sae’s sudden appearance. “uh, no, man. just talking to her.”
sae’s grip on your wrist tightened. “this party is boring. we’re leaving,” he said, didn’t even bother to wait for the guy’s response. he guided you away, his hand firmly holding yours.
when you both walked out of the venue, sae’s pace was brisk, his silence fuming with barely-contained jealousy. it was emanating, you could feel the tension radiating from him. just before you exited, sae threw one final, icy look back at the guy who had hit on you.
once outside, you stopped, pulling gently on sae’s hand to slow him down. “sae, it’s okay,” you said softly, trying to calm him.
he stopped, turning to face you, his eyes still burning with anger. “it’s not?” he said, voice low and intense. “i just can’t stand the thought of anyone else trying to take what’s mine,” he admitted, tone rough with emotion.
“let’s just, get out of here. i need to be alone with you.”
ITOSHI RIN. you took a step back, trying to maintain a polite distance. “no, i’m not interested.” but the guy ignored your words, moving closer. “just your instagram, perhaps?”
out of the blue, rin appeared beside you, his presence commanding immediate attention. his eyes, usually more relaxed and lousy, had turned cold and hard, like shards of ice. he stepped between you and the guy, movements sharp and precise, as if he were a predator cornering its prey.
“you should be careful who you hit on,” rin said, voice low and menacing. each word was enunciated with a deadly calm. the guy hesitated, clearly intimidated by rin’s intense gaze and threatening tone. he swallowed hard, the confident smirk slipping from his face. “i . . i didn’t mean any harm,” he stammered, bravado evaporating under rin’s piercing stare.
rin took a step forward, closing the gap even more. his shoulders were squared, and his posture much radiated authority and danger. “move along,” he ordered, voice dropping to a deadly whisper that brooked no argument, “get out of my sight.” the menace in his tone was unmistakable, as if each syllable dripping with venom.
rin nodded, his gaze still scanning the crowd for any potential threats. “you and i stick together for the rest of the night. i don’t want to leave your side.”
RYUSEI SHIDOU. as you were nibbling on a canapé, a guy approached with a charming smile. “hey there, beautiful. enjoying the party?” you smiled politely. “yes, it’s quite nice.” next, he leaned in slightly, clearly interested. “i couldn’t help but notice you from across the room. want me to fetch us a drink?”
seconds before your words intended to sprung out, you felt familiar arms wrap around you from behind. shidou pulled you close, the presence of him leaving a mark of possesiveness. “careful,” he said whilst eyeing the stranger, his voice remarkably stayed playful, “she’s a heartbreaker. trust me, i know.”
you laughed, shaking your head. “liieess. i am not.”
the guy looked a bit taken aback by shidou’s sudden appearance and casual demeanor. shidou, however, was completely unfazed. he gave you a playful squeeze, resting his chin on your shoulder.
“so,” shidou said, turning his attention to you for a second time, “who do you think has better biceps? him or me?” he flexed one arm slightly, showcasing his muscles under his short sleeve as if the stranger wasn’t even there.
you couldn’t help but giggle at the absurdity of the situation, playing along with shidou’s antics with your style. “aww baby, you know the answer already. now you’re going to make him apprehensive.”
shidou grinned, giving you another squeeze. “just making sure you know who the real winner is here.”
the guy, sensing he was outmatched, finally surrendered. “i get it. i’ll leave you two lovebirds alone.”
he walked away, and you turned in shidou’s arms to face him and no words, you only chuckled at him. shidou shrugged, “y’know, i hafta keep things interesting, baby.”

To Heal a Mockingbird
A TFA Ratchet x Mech!Reader
Word Count: 1.8k
Chapter 6: Sparks of the Future
"Let me out!" I begged as I slammed my fists against the bars of my cell. "Please! Just let me out! You can't do this!"
"Shut it, you!" The prison guard barked as he jabbed me through the bars of with a shock rod, electricity pouring into my frame and causing me to yelp out in pain. "You're lucky the Magnus is even letting your sorry paint job live!"
The guard yanked the rod out of my frame, and I crashed to the floor like a sack of energon cubes, my seams hissing with smoke from the electrical shock I received. The guard then jabbed me again, causing a shriek of pain to rip through my voice box once again.
"In fact, I'm gonna make you WISH he hadn't!" The guard opened my cell and proceeded to beat the ever loving slag out of me. The entire time, I would try and fight back only to get put back to the floor with the shock rod. I ended up completely giving up to the beatings and laid limp on the floor. Small drips of energon leaked from my intake and down my dermas, eventually making contact with the floor with light drip sound.
When the guard was done thrashing me about, he left and re locked my cell with a disturbing grin on his face.
"Oh, by the way," he said. "Megatron says hello." Before I could respond, the guard turned and left, leaving me alone in the dark prison.
'Primus... have mercy...' I thought to myself as I slowly and shakily pushed my frame back upright, stumbling a little in the process. 'I... I don't know what... what they are telling me....' I limped over to the recharge slab that was bolted to the wall, carefully maneuvering my now battered and beaten frame onto it with my back facing the bars of my cell. 'But... but i.... I can't... be who they... they claim I am...' I curled up tightly and allowed my optics to close.
"Primus... if you can hear me... please... they need to know i... I'm innocent." I quietly prayed.
But deep down, I knew that was a lie, yet I couldn't give anyone a reason for it. All I felt was guilt.
I ended up drifting into recharge, and in my dreams, I saw disaster and chaos. Thousands laid strewn dead across a battlefield and in the center stood Megatron with a cold and sadistic smile on his face.
In his grip was a glowing crystalline gem that seemed to hum and pulse like a thousand sparks all in unison.
'Help us.' I heard the gem whisper in many voices. 'Find us. Save us.'
The dream then changed to what looked to be a staging area for a siege outside of where I knew the Well of Allsparks was located, most likely outside of Crystal City.
'They will find us! They will hurt us! Hurry! Please!'
I jolted awake with a gasp and an overwhelming sense of dread crossed my spark like a shard of ice. A dread one should never ignore. A dread of the end.
"Gotta... gotta get outta here." I whispered to myself as I shakily pushed my frame upright. "Gotta... get to... the Allspark."
-with Ratchet and the others -
"And you're saying this data just straight up appeared?" Ratchet asked with a cocked optic ridge.
"Yeah and?" Pharma huffed. "It's still information that is evidence and support for Y/D's deactivation." Pharma then turned to the Magnus with a stern look. "You need to have him terminated."
"Not until this information is traced back to the source." Ultra Magnus said firmly before motioning for Wheeljack. "Wheeljack, can you run a trace in the data?"
"I can try." Wheeljack said as he went over to Pharma's work station and began running various lines of code in order to find where the data came from. "My question is why someone would send this in the first place?"
As if on queue, an alert popped up on a nearby workstation, then another, and another. Alarms began to blare, and lights flashed wildly, surprising the group of Autobots.
"To distract us from that!" Ratchet said as he pointed to the alert. "The security system for the brig has gone offline. Y/D isn't the only Decepticon down there!"
-with Y/D-
"There..." I murmured to myself as I retracted my probes from the wall, the bars to all the cell doors in the brig dropping and releasing everyone inside. "I'm sorry, my friends... but this is necessary."
"Hey! We're free!" One of the other Decepticon prisoners exclaimed.
"Go go go!" Another one yelled. The next thing I knew, Decepticons of all shapes and sizes were making a break for it. At the same time, swarms of Elite Guard came rushing in.
Battle broke out, and I did the best I could to dodge and weave through the chaos. I eventually made it across the prison and towards an emergency exit that led directly outside. Once I went through that exit, I quickly made a beeline for my best route to Crystal City.
That route being an Autobot space bridge.
"Almost there." I said to myself as I stumbled over and quickly hijacked the controls. "Just gotta enter the coordinates -"
"Hey! There's one!" A guard yelled.
"Scrap!" I cursed to myself as I saw the guard and a few others running down towards me. "Hurry, hurry! Cmon, cmon!" Suddently, the space bridge fired up, and the glowing swirl of color roared to life. "Yes!"
"He's getting away!" The guard yelled. I quickly dove on through the bridge and tumbled out the other side, the bridge closing shortly after and preventing the guard from following.
"Too close." I panted as I shakily looked about. I somehow emerged right inside of the walls of Crystal City rather than through another space bridge. I didn't have time to ponder the oddity of that. I needed to find the Allspark.
I dove into the alleyways and weaved through the Autobot city, taking extra care so as not to be spotted by the passing of guard and civilians. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts, the injuries I gained from the guard who beat me started to take its toll once again.
I ended up slumping in one of the side alleys, my vents heavy and straining from the pain.
'Dammit.' I thought to myself. 'Can't... can't keep moving... but... but I gotta.' I looked over to my wings and stared at the bold violet insignia that adorned them. I then proceeded to scratch at them, drawing thin streams of energon to the surface with each mark until the insignia was barely visible. I did the same to the other side, effectively solidifying my abandonment of the Decepticons. 'There... that way if I am found... they'll think I'm neutral. Hopefully. Primus....'
I ended up falling into a light recharge in that alleyway. But it wouldn't last very long as the sound of combat would reach my audials and awaken me from my slumber.
'Dammit!' I thought as I saw several autobot soldiers and guard rush down the streets with weapons in hand. 'I've gotta move my aft! But... where do I go?'
I felt a tug on my spark as I thought this as if the Allspark itself were calling me, and I knew I had to trust it. I followed the pull through various backways and hidden alleys until I came across a strange structure nestled out of sight.
It had a large doorway with intricate designs carved into it that seemed to glow and hum with raw energon crystals. Hesitantly, I touched the designs, and they lit up like the night sky. The doorway cracked and ground as it slid open, exposing a long and dark hallway with streaks and swirls of light lining the sides. Cautiously, I entered and continued to trust the pull I was feeling on my spark, unaware that a few Autobots and a certain medic were following not far behind me.
"What is he doing?" Pharma whispered to Ratchet as he, the medic, and a few Elite Guard quietly followed behind just out of audial shot of me.
"I... I wish I could tell you." Ratchet whispered back.
"Sir, should we take him out?" One of the guard asked as he aimed a rifle at me.
"Not yet." Pharma said. "Let's see where this... thing is going."
"He has a name." Ratchet scolded. "Use it."
They continued to follow me through the maze of tunnels and passageways that seemed to go deeper and deeper underground until they came to a massive, almost cathedral like space with statues and ancient carvings lining the sides. A line of crystallized energon ran forward to a large, circular basin where the gleaming light of the Allspark was hovering above like a beacon.
"Is that...." one of the guard whispered.
"The Allspark?" Another said.
While the group were gazing in awe, I had managed to sneak around and behind them with my probes ejected. I knew what I had to do, and I didn't want to do it.
"I'm sorry." I whispered.
"Did you hear that?" Pharma said before I drove the probes into his back and forced him to shut down. His frame crashed to the floor, and the pair of elite guard and Ratchet whipped around to see me towering over them. I quickly gave the two guard the same treatment before they could act.
"Y/D wh-," Ratchet started to say before I stopped him.
"They will be fine. Get them out of here before the Decepticons come."
"Kid."
"There's no time! Megatron is here, and he wants the Allspark. I have to get it out of here." Ratchet studied my face and saw there was no falsehood in it.
"Be careful."
"Till we meet again, my friend." I said with a small smile. "And... thank you for your kindness."
I quickly rushed over to the basin and leaped up into the air, my servo making contact with the Allspark as I grabbed it from the air. I felt a surge of power rush through me, and the cathedral cracked and ruptured open. Bits of plating melted and formed into a sort of canister that morphed and molded around the Allspark. I gripped the handles and soared out of the now gaping ceiling, my goal one location and one location only.
The space bridge.
Time seemed to blurr as I used whatever energy I had left to fly as fast as i could towards it, the great gateway igniting to life just before I crashed into it.
I was launched into a void of color, the bridge collapsing and exploding behind me. My systems began to shut down in this place, and I heard the Allspark one last time before entering a deep and death like stasis.
'Sleep, Allspark Guardian.'

Gators & Mischief

Summary:
Stiles loved animals. He always begged to go to the zoo every day during the summer and his parents would eventually agree. It was worth it just to see their son’s beaming smile.
Stiles loved animals. He always begged to go to the zoo every day during the summer and his parents would eventually agree. It was worth it just to see their son’s beaming smile.
Then, one summer when Stiles was only four years old, he was watching some kids who were gathered by where the gators were swimming. He didn’t like the alligators. They scared him and he was going to stay sitting on the bench and wait for his mommy to bring the ice cream.
He rubbed at his eyes, feeling a little sleepy and glanced up at his daddy who was on the phone. Again. Stiles’s Daddy worked a lot but he always came to the zoo with Stiles and mommy. Stiles guessed that at least he was here, even though Stiles wished he could hide the phone so his daddy would play with him.
“Hey kid!”
Stiles looked over at the boys who were by the gators and tilted his head, glancing around and then looking at them. “Me?”
“Yeah you. Come here.”
“Why?”
“Cause.”
“No. My mommy said—”
The boys laughed. “Mommy said. Mommy said.”
Stiles made fists and stomped over. “Dona talk bout my mommy!”
“Or what?!” they all taunted and sneered, staring down at him.
“Or—” Stiles trailed off, his eyes scanning the area for his daddy. He was scared and didn’t like the way these boys were looking at him.
Before he could call out, the boys grabbed him and with smirks on their faces, they tossed him into the cold murky water.
Stiles shrieked and struggled, sputtering and coughing.
Suddenly, a hiss sounded behind him and he froze, just now realizing where he was. “M-Mommy? D-Daddy?” he whispered as two big yellow eyes watched him. Then more big yellow eyes appeared. He was surrounded. Stiles’s tummy churned and he started to cry. He was gonna get eaten.
The boys all watched with sickening glee as the gators circled the stupid kid. What did the sheriff and the nurse expect to happen when they turned their backs?
Just as the lead gator had opened its mouth and Stiles had closed his eyes, a loud roar shook the enclosure.
Everyone, including the gators, froze. A large shadow flew over the water and ivory shards snagged in Stiles’s shirt, yanking him from the water just in time.
He yelped and his amber eyes went wide before he passed out from exhaustion and terror. Despite these feelings, Stiles couldn’t explain exactly why he was not afraid of the shadow.
The boys who had thrown him in stared in horror as a large Siberian Tiger snarled at them, the toddler’s shirt still held tightly in its jaws. They scattered when the tiger lunged at them and only when the boys were gone, did the tiger lose some of its anger, though it kept rumbling in its chest.
Stiles whined softly, and the tiger’s rumble softened to a deep purr in its chest to soothe him.
Right as Sheriff Stilinski’s call ended and the tiger looked over, their eyes locked. “Mischief?” Noah Stilinski croaked out. His hands shook as he reached for his son.
The tiger snarled and stepped back, leaping over the fence into its own area and slinking into its den. Once there, it laid down and settled the young boy between its front paws.
Once Stiles was settled, the tiger began to bathe the boy until he smelled only of himself, his parents and the tiger. Stiles, feeling instinctively safe and relieved, curled into a ball between the tiger’s massive paws and settled into a peaceful sleep.
When Noah frantically pleaded with the zookeepers to help him retrieve his son, they stared at him in confusion.
“Have you heard a single word I’ve said?!” Noah demanded, his voice rising with panic and fear
Finally, the head zookeeper stepped forward, his hands raised in a placating gesture and said, “Sir, there are no Siberian tigers at this zoo.”
“WHAT?!”

ASOS; Steel and Snow: 30 JON IV (pages 406-413)
Several teams climb the Wall, as Jon watches on, and some of them even make it to the top.
-
Here, thought the top of the Wall loomed eight hundred feet above the forest floor, a good third of that height was earth and stone rather than ice; the slope was too steep for their horses, almost as difficult a scramble as the Fist of the First Men, but still vastly easier to ascend than the sheer vertical face of the Wall itself.
I'm just. imagining half way up the climb, Jon hears something odd, looks over, and there's just a mountain goat licking the ice wall, just, doing that gravity defying bs toehold thing mountain goats do.
Also: insert appropriate joke about horses from Skyrim here.
In the Seven kingdoms it was said it marked the end of the world. That's true for them as well. It was all in where you stood. And where do I stand? Jon did not know.
Ain't that a huge metaphor for so much of this series and fandom. matters of perspective.
Jon's having his own identity stuff, on the heels of Sansa and Arya facing a loss of identity in different ways, here's Jon facing what this undercover mission has done to him, and who he wants to be. It makes me want to bully Robb a little bit, ngl.
... make shift climbing gear!
Jon was watching them inch along when he heard the sound - a sudden crack that seemed to roll along the ice, followed by a shout of alarm. And then the air was full of shards and shrieks and falling men, as a sheet of ice a foot thick and fifty feet square broke off from the Wall and came tumbling, crumbling, rumbling, sweeping all before it. Even down at the foot of the ridge, some chunks came spinning through the trees and rolling down the slope. Jon grabbed Ygritte and pulled her down to shield her, and one of the Thenns was struck in the face by a chunk that broke his nose. And when they looked up Jarl and his team were gone. Men, ropes, stakes, all gone; nothing remained above six hundred feet. There was a wound in the Wall where the climbers had clung half a heartbeat before, the ice withing as smooth and white as polished marble and shining in the sun. Far far below there was a faint red smear where someone had smashed against a frozen pinnace. The Wall defends itself, Jon thought as he pulled Ygritte back to her feet.
Holy shit.
So in the show, Jon, Ygritte and Tormund are all part of the climbing team, and it's blizzard weather. Jon and Ygritte are the bottom two of a four man tether with Tormund up the top when the crack happens and wipes out the NPCs, Jon has to bravely swing to the side to catch the ledge before some dickhead cuts the rope dropping both Jon and Ygritte to their deaths.
The book scene is far more impactful, just imo. D&D really want Jon to be the Big Action Hero, and he's just, he's not? D&D genuine do not understand what genre the books are, or they didn't care and they just wanted to make adventure mans in pseudo magical medieval times.
... also if you want to make this less emotionally tragic: Pinnace, noun (geology): an individual column of rock, isolated from other rocks or groups of rocks, in the shape of a vertical shaft or spire. Pinnace, noun: a small boat carried on a large ship, used to carry goods and people from the ship to the shore.
The dead were burning when Grigg the Goat reached the top of the Wall. By the time Errok's four joined them, nothing remained of Jarl and his team but bone and ash. The sun had begun to sink by then, so the climbers wasted little time. They unwound the long coils of hemp they'd had looped around their chests, tied them all together, and tossed down one end. The thought of trying to climb five hundred feet up that rope filled Jon with dread, but Mance had planned better than that. The raiders Jarl had left below uncasked a huge ladder, with rungs of woven hemp as thick as a man's arm, and tied it to the climber's rope. Errok and Grigg and their men grunted and heaved, pulled it up, staked it to the top, then lowered the rope again to haul up a second ladder. There were five altogether.
That's genius, much smarter than having everyone try to climb a single rope or the Wall itself. Also lends itself to impress just how large the raiding party is, versus what D&D gave us. They really tended to do everything smaller except the number of naked women and swear words. and blood pack allowance.
"Can you feel how cold it is?" "It's made of ice," Jon pointed out. "You know nothing, Jon Snow. This wall is made o' blood." ... "Don't be frightened." He tried to put his arm around her. Ygritte slammed the heel of her hand into his chest, so hard it stung, even through the layers of wool, mail, and boiled leather. "I wasn't frightened. You know nothing, Jon Snow."

Something New To Study (How Jasper met Roland)
I wrote this a while ago, so I figured I'd start posting my writings here. This is 1/2 of a couple of my OCs for a future story. I'll make a masterlist (including ones I haven't written yet) soon, and you can request which one to write next or if there's any OC you want to know more about. Anyways, let's get on with it WARNING: Jasper is a researcher and his research ended up being half of the writing soo
After a long and tedious expedition, Jasper had finally found something new. He had to go deep into a cave, being careful not to cause a cave-in, but it was worth it. At the end of the cave, there were tons of glowing crystals, and using his goggles, he was able to tell that these crystals were rich in magical energy. Luckily, with great power comes great storage, in the form of a sort of pocket dimension. He may need some time to get all the crystals, but that was no issue. He had no need for sleep, and he has food and water he can have at any time. He also never seemed to run out of strength, a pro of being a magi-human.
After at least a few hours, if not a few days, he was finally done with his expedition and he returned home. All in all, he ended up being gone for about a week. When he returned home, in the dead of night, the first thing he wanted to do was study some of the crystals.
He summoned one from his inventory, one of the shadow ones, figuring if it were to have adverse effects, it wouldn't be dangerous. He held it in his hands, bringing it over to his work table. He put on his goggles and looked at it closely. It definitely had strong magical properties. He carefully broke a small piece off, a little bit of magic escaping as he does so. He takes the small shard, and puts it under a microscope.
Using his purple eye, he looks into it. As he gets the microscope into focus, he can tell the crystal is both rock magic and shadow magic. The composition of the shard seemed to be a ton of shadow particles, held together in a solid form with natural rock magic. The rock magic isn't particles, it's fully activated magic, unable to be broken down into magic particles. Essentially, it's just rock at this point.
Seeing the true nature of the crystals, he decides he needs to perform more tests. If he can manage to harness the power of these crystals in a machine without damaging the particles, or at least using very few of them… this was game changing. He needed to run more tests, testing what they can do, testing their limits, and finding their use.
During this testing phase, he was in and out of the research center, testing things outside, researching more inside, and going back and forth. Luckily the research center wasn't directly next to any other buildings, or he certainly would've kept some people awake.
Regardless, he did draw some attention. The people were curious, of course, but who were they to judge? They didn't know anything about what was going on. Nobody dared to interrupt him. This went on for several days as his knowledge of the crystals grew.
One of these days, as he was indoors, testing the particle consumption of an ice crystal powered cooler, there was a knock at his door. Now, this wasn't too unusual, people would come to him all the time for help with various things, and he gladly helped, as the one with the most magical knowledge. This time, however, was a little unusual, because he honestly forgot about people existing, due to how long he'd spent in his own research and discovery.
Jasper perked up at the door knock, and used his clone, which was next to the door, to answer it. At the door stood a tall man in an apron, holding a cloth covered basket. Jasper, via his clone, spoke to the man. "Oh, hello there. I wasn't expecting a visitor! Come in, come in!" He urged the man inside.
"Oh, well, thanks." The man entered the building, looking around, seeing gadgets and gizmos all over the place, a sign of all the research that had been done. "I just wanted to drop off some bread for you. I've seen you working a lot recently, and I figured you could use some fresh bread!" The man happy said, holding out the basket to Jasper's clone.
"Ah, thank you, thank you!" Jasper was taken aback a little, he hadn't ever been gifted food before, surely this bread wasn't easy to make! He took the bread from the man. "Ah, how rude of me, I didn't ask your name! What may I call you, fine sir?"
The man chuckled, amused by Jasper's formality. "You can call me Roland." He answered.
"Ah, Roland. My name is Jasper, though I'm sure you knew that. Thank you for the bread, it smells delicious!" Jasper seemed a little awkward. It was fairly unusual for him to receive a gift, let alone something handmade! He used his clone's senses to smell the freshly baked bread, taking one out of the basket and trying it.
"Yes, Jasper, nice to finally meet you! I've been here a while, but never actually met you, and I figured now was a better time than ever, and I couldn't not bring you something. Consider it a treat for working so hard."
Jasper nodded as he ate the bread. It tasted so good! He'd never had such a basic food taste so good! He's definitely need to get some more bread from him later. "Mm, this is good bread! I mean, I'm not sure I've worked as hard as you say-"
"Nonsense!" Roland cut him off. "You do so much for the city, and you never seem to take a day off! Speaking of… you might need a day off, I mean, you've spent days on this project, I'm sure you could use some time to unwind!"
"Ah, but you see, to stop working is a waste of time! There's so much to learn about magic! Endless possibilities if we can only find them… I'm working even now! Sure, it's not as productive as I usually am, but that's just how split attention works."
"Wait, what do you mean you're working right now? You're not doing anything." Roland asks curiously.
"Ah, what you're seeing here is merely a clone." He lowers the band around his neck, revealing a barcode. "See? This mark shows that this isn't the real me. I'm still upstairs, studying."
"Wow… I think you really need a break! I know, you don't need a break, but come on. I've heard your race doesn't need sleep or rest, but come on, it'll be fun! Whaddya say?" Roland suggests with a cheerful grin on his face, only serving to help persuade Jasper.
Jasper sighed. "I suppose, it may be beneficial. Hold on." The cline put down the bread, before standing next to a wall, the light leaving it's eyes. Before long, Jasper comes down the stairs, and Roland can see just how much of a direct clone he was just speaking to was. "Well then, I suppose I'll let you lead the way. Show me how to properly take a break."
"Perfect! This is going to be great! There's a lot to do to take a break. Don't worry, it won't wear you out. We'll take it slow, I mean that's what a break is all about!" Roland grabs Jasper's hand suddenly, startling the magi-human. Roland dragged him out, closing the door behind them, and taking Jasper out for a proper break.

Amidst the Petal-Storm at the Summit Zao
Story (Chapter 9 Part 3)
After warming up in the hot springs, you, Wakan Tanka, and your party move on with Zao and Yule joining you.
It's time.
After walking a long while, you reach the summit of the mountain.
Lupin: According to the map, the breaker should be right ahead.
You're right. I think I see something.
As you look ahead... you see a castle made of ice.
No doubt. That's looks like the kinda place to hide a breaker.
A castle of ice... I do believe I know which story we're in.
So do I. I can't believe I didn't notice sooner. Then again, I was under a spell and didn't know who I was.
Then, can you tell us?
Hecate: Legend tells of a beautiful queen of the snow who brought winter to the world. One day, an evil demon tried to take over the world using a magic mirror. When reflected in the mirror, anything beautiful would appear dark and ugly, one could only describe the experience as "boiled spinach".
Yule: Fortunately, the snow queen decided not to take it sitting down. As the demon and his minions rose up to Heaven to use the mirror to make fools of the angels, the snow queen fought them. She succeeded, but the mirror fell to Earth and it shattered in many pieces, most no bigger than a grain of sand.
Hecate: Because of how small those pieces were, they were picked up and carried away by the wind all over the world. Some pieces that weren't blown away because they were to big were found by crafters who used them to make other mirrors and glasses. If a piece of the mirror flew into your eyes, you would only see things as dark and ugly. But if a piece went your heart, it would become a block of ice and you would be cruel and wicked.
Yule: But if pieces went to both your eyes and your heart, you would become so dark that your being would not be able to handle it and you would die. Not to far from away, there were two children: A boy and a girl. They were the best of friends until one day, pieces of the mirror went into both the boy's heart and his eye. Since then, he became a wicked nasty child to everyone, including his friend.
Hecate: The snow queen, not wanting to see someone as young a the boy die, took him away to her great palace of ice on the mountains. She kissed him once and he felt cold like he was dying. Then, she kissed him again and it stopped, but all of the boy's memories of his life before, including the girl, were gone. The queen dare not kiss him a third time as a third kiss would cause the boy to freeze to death.
Yule: In her palace, the snow queen told the boy to complete a magic puzzle. If he does, the magic of the puzzle will summon all the mirror shards back and she would let him return home.
Did he succeed in completing the puzzle?
Hecate: He did. But not by himself. After going through many adventures, the girl finally reunited with her friend in the ice palace. Using her love for the boy, she freed him from mirror's power and that love also completed the puzzle. The mirror was restored, the queen locked it away so its powers can never be used again, and she brought two children home. Everyone lived happily ever after.
Lupin: That's a great story.
Wakan Tanka: That's the power of love in its finest.
Yule: Let's hope it'll help us. There's not telling what's waiting for us in there.
Zabainyya: (smiling) As long as we can do this together, we'll be fine.
You takes his words to heart and you proceed into the ice palace.
Zoa: (amazed) My goodness! Hard to believe that something like this can be on a mountain... Actually, I've seen a place like this on Bold Mountain.
Kengo: Do you hear something? It's up ahead.
You all go up to the end of the hall were a thorn room of ice was...
♪The cold never bothered me anyway♪
Lupin: It's Horkeu Kamui!
Horkeu Kamui?: Who are these who come to my palace? Have you come gaze upon the beauty of my realm?
Zabainiyya: (confused) Your realm?
Lupin: I guess even he wasn't spared from being sucked into this world and fell under its spell.
Hecate: So he thinks he's the snow queen.
Yule: More like the snow king.
Kengo: You think he's going to attack, too?
Lupin: I don't know.
???: Release me, now!
Snow King: (sighing and looking down) Oh dear. It appears the shards within him are more stubborn than I thought. At this rate, the puzzle will never be finished. I don't know how long he can hold up before he dies.
Wakan Tanka: (worried) Before who dies?
The Snow King rises from his throne and ushers you to another room. Inside, there is a huge frame where there were some jagged pieces of a mirror. In front of it was what looked like pieces of a stain-glass window, but upon closer look, it was a stain-glass puzzle. And standing in the midst of it...
Release me, now! NOW!!!
Kengo: (shocked) Isn't that Tangora?
Wakan Tanka: (serious) Not just that. Look at his hair and those tentacles. It's Tangora as the World Representative of his world.
Lupin: But I thought I changed him back when I changed you back. How is this possible?
Wakan Tanka: I don't know. Maybe he's like me?
Snow King: I doubt it. He has become a victim to that accursed mirror. As you can see, it has corrupted him.
Hecate: So Tangora∞ is playing the role of the boy whose eye and heart were pierced by the troll's mirror. How unfortunate.
Snow King: I cannot release you. You are far too dark and wicked for the world outside. You must stay here and finish the puzzle, then you may leave.
The Boy: I don't want to finish your dumb puzzle! Who cares what will happen to the world outside as long as I'm having fun.
Snow King: But you have hurt many people. Look at how sad they are and they came all they here to help.
Yule: (surprised) Is he talking about us?
The Boy: Whatever. I don't need them... Fine, if you won't release me and they won't help me with anything other than that damn puzzle... Then I'll get out myself.
The boy raises his staff and hit the floor with it as his tentacles raise up and emit a strong force of energy. The Snow King tries to stop him, but the tentacles were too powerful to get pass.
Snow King: (getting frustrated) I don't want to hurt you, boy. But if I must...
Then I will sever your ties to that dark power... Or kiss you to death.
The Boy: You wanna fight?
Then take a good swing, Old Man Winter.
With that, the two begin to fight. However, the boy shows to be more powerful than the Snow King.
Lupin: This is crazy! Horkeu Kamui can't fight a World Rep!
Wakan Tanka: That's right. The only thing powerful enough to even match a World Rep... is another World Rep. My Lupin?
Lupin: Right. We need all the power we can muster.
Wakan Tanka: As long as you are by my side, Heyoka...
FLASH
I am even stronger than this form.
Zabaniyya: I see. If that's how it must be.
Lupin: Zabaniyya?
Zabaniyya: Lupin, I want to prove to you that I can be a great asset for your Guild, just like in that loop. You helped me that day when the Fisher King appeared, now I'm going to help you in return... We both will...
SO HEAR THAT?! WE CAN'T DO THIS ALONE! WE NEED YOU! SO COME ON OUT! COME ON, HURRY UP! WE DON'T HAVE ALL DAMN DAY!
Everyone: !
Yes, yes, I hear you! Stop shouting. And please, use your indoor voice and appropriate language. Seriously, kids are watching this, too, you know.
Suddenly, ribbons similar to the ones used in Bigfoot's spell on Wakan Tanka emerge from the floor, but they were red and like fire. They wrap themselves around Zabaniyya like a cocoon and then like a mummy. After about of half a minute, the man-shaped cocoon turns black. Then, something bursts out of it like an explosion of power. After that...
Finally, I thought I'd never get a chance to get out and stretch my wings. But first, better change into something that's a little more... Well, me for this battle.
FLASH
Now this is more like it.
Lupin: I hope you can help us.
Israfil: You better believe it, Lucifer.
Lupin: ... Could you please not call me that?
Hecate: Looks like we're all set to go.
This will be the experiment of a lifetime!
I hope you're all watching this. We're giving this story a happy ending with more friends on our side!
Israfil: We're happy to hear that.
Let this symphony begin.
The battle begins.
To be continued...

something which nobody may keep
whumptober day 3, "impaled."
inspired by one of my favs of @f-ai-n 's art ... a picture taken at precisely the moment of disaster
Ironic and cruel, Kaeya always thought, that Cryo was the cause of it; an Abyss Mage's ice blast glancing past him at precisely the wrong instant, as he'd scrambled up from a slip in the shallows of Cider Lake. Ironic, and cruel, and unexpected, in the moment when he felt his muscles lock up in frigid immobility, holding him in place as the next barrage hurtled towards him.
He saw the last of the sunset light strike golden-red through the shards of ice aimed at him and wondered, for a split second, if this was when he died. How disappointed Diluc would be, if he happened to look over just now from where he was matching blades with a handful of hilichurls further up the beach. How disappointed he would be, for that matter - he'd always hoped for something more impressive to show off to Celestia in exchange for the Vision at his belt -
He heard his name, then, a desperate shout from somewhere just outside his sight - "Kaeya, watch out!"
And then between him and the scarlet sunset, between him and the icy blades, between him and possible imminent humiliation before the eyes of the gods, his ridiculous overprotective older brother appeared, just in time and altogether wrong.
Kaeya could move again a moment later, and move he did, then - whirled out of the way and grabbed Diluc's shoulders to shove him clear as well, despite the ragged pained gasp Diluc made at the motion. And Cryo wouldn't serve him well as he charged forward, but his sword still would, and did - slashing through the last of the Abyss Mage's bubble shield and sending its body flying across the sand to land limp and motionless. The remaining hilichurls were making their retreat now, scattering to the nearby cliffs to lick their wounds.
"How was that?" he called over his shoulder to his brother by the shore line. "Enough to make you realize I'm not - "
But Diluc hadn't gotten up. He still knelt where he had been pushed, one hand to the ground, breathing hard and measured as if against pain; and beneath him, the sand and the lapping waves were turning ghastly red with blood. One deadly-sharp icicle had gone straight through him, its uneven point jutting out of his back just above his hip.
Kaeya flung himself down next to him, gathering him up as he crumpled forward. All the winds in the world seemed to be screaming in his ears, panic tightening his breath, but still he could hear Diluc's ragged breaths and feel his brother's body shuddering in his arms. The icicle was melting swiftly as the Cryo faded, and that meant every moment Diluc was bleeding out more quickly.
"Kaeya." Diluc's voice was a ragged ghost of itself, his eyes blindly blinking upwards. "Kaeya, are you - all right?"
"Of course, blast you." He wrenched the clasp of his cloak loose, pressing the slippery folds of fabric against Diluc's wound, trying to stem the blood flow. "What kind of stupid question is that? Think about yourself. Save your strength."
"Good. I - I was - so scared." Diluc smiled, weakly. "I told you - that anyone might need - backup sometimes." He coughed again, blood spattering his face and Kaeya's above him. "I'm sorry - that I wasn't more. Wasn't - what you needed, when you - "
"Stop talking." Kaeya spoke through clenched teeth. "I don't need your deathbed confession. Because you're not going to die, do you hear me?"
This time, Diluc didn't answer.
"Diluc." Kaeya felt his throat closing with terror, tongue clumsy in his mouth.
...How many times could the world fall apart and still manage to exist? But he of all people knew that death wasn't kind or polite, and the sun kept rising anyway, inconsiderately, and you had to get up and find something else to hold onto, over and over and over again...
But it wasn't time for that yet. Surely not yet.
" 'Luc, don't go. Open your eyes - "
The dusk was falling around them, the last of the sunset gone, and Diluc's blood black now in the dimness, on the ground and on his hands and his coat. He staggered upright, wet sand unsteady beneath his boots, Diluc limply motionless against him, and set off towards the city lights of Mondstat.
*
Kaeya didn't pray to the gods that had supposedly granted him his Vision, the ones who'd blasted his homeland in the distant past and taken both his fathers from him. He had never wanted to, or thought they would listen to him anyway, a damned and treacherous Khaen'riahn stranded under the wrong sky.
But that night he did, all through the swift winter twilight: begging for Diluc's whisper-thin rapid breaths to continue, for the makeshift bandaging of his cloak and Cryo-ice to hold sufficiently. Begging for his brother's life, because Diluc at least had always tried to do what was right, no matter how stupid it ended up being.
And later, he prayed too, in the light of the Cathedral candles, mutely and desperately with his bloody palms laid open on his knees, as Barbara's soft song echoed through his dazed ears and Jean and the doctor exchanged worried glances as they worked to piece his brother's torn body back together; and there was nothing left between him and despair save for that thin fragile hope.
He couldn't bear Jean's comforting touch on his shoulder, or the blanket Barbara tried to drape around him, or the tea Sister Grace tried to press into his hands; these were things you gave to people who were falling apart, and he wasn't, he wasn't. He didn't need to be, not yet. That would come later, if so.
...And maybe even a damned and treacherous exile could reach to Celestia, or close enough, because when daylight came Diluc was still breathing, and his cold fingers gave back some gentle pressure at Kaeya's touch.
So Kaeya laid his head down on the table next to his brother, to sleep in a world still unbroken, until they both woke.

(Chatting)
Things I would do to mess with Jubilife Village if I got isekai’d
-Have my starter walk around with me when I am in the village. No matter which evo stage.
-Customize my Pokeballs so I can tell who is in what.
-Get my hair dyed every two weeks to fit into the crazy haired world, Beni has green so…
-Fly or ride any of my own Pokémon that are big enough cause this isn’t a game.
-Find out whether they are cartoonish or realistic like the Detective Pikachu movie.
-Learn Kalosian even if most regions spoke English, might as well learn a new language in between surveying.
-See if my psychic type Pokémon can translate what my team is saying. Learn how to use Aura so I can do so on my own no matter how hard.
-Act like I can understand my Pokémon word-for-word around any D/P Clan members. I can fuck with them too and Ingo is always in sync with his Pokémon so they’ll think it’s normal.
-Have any Pokémon that is smart enough to go get groceries which includes paying for them.
-Talk with Beni about different recipes if he truly can’t make anything other than potato mochi.
-Give every kid their first Pokémon that is a safe species cause I am playful not stupid.
-Learn under Captain Zisu to teach my Pokémon what should be egg/tm moves. Plus if I have to save another timeline I can use that.
-Kick the Security Corps into gear on having stronger partners even if this comes to kick me in the butt during banishment.
-Have the various Corps communicate better so the Surveyors don’t have to play errand person.
-Figure out which regions various Galaxy Hall workers are from and find out why they chose to come here. Not really mind-screwy I would just be genuinely curious.
-Gift Captain Cyllene various items Bug Type Pokémon produce. Honey from Combee, Silk rope from Wurmple line, some spare rock shards from Kleavor, and maybe shed Scyther scythes. (I won’t be poking fun at her bug-type fear who knows the horrors she has seen them do. Just showing their usefulness.)
-Practice Contest routines so my Pokémon can get down the more agile move combos.
-Go shiny hunting for any species I want. Doubt they live long back then due to bright colors.
-Adopt Lian and Sabi as my kids/siblings (depends on if I am de-aged which one) cause they should be allowed some fun. I know both have serious duties as wardens, but they look to not even be young teens so young…
-Organize a semi-monthly play date between the village and clan children. I will use my Pokémon to transport them every single time if need be since these kids deserve some fun.
-Help the poor pasture workers make habitats suitable for my Pokémon. You cannot tell me an ice type would be comfortable in sunny Jubilife. Shouldn’t be too hard to make small caves for them to freeze like a small cooler. Also making specific farms for the mass amount of mons.
-Record a time capsule for the future pokémon world dropping cryptic hints on ancestry. Ginter would be “I hope his laziness isn’t inherited too much”… Kamado’s after the banishment needs to be “this mans family needs to know no more direct violence, perhaps take a scholarly pursuit”. Volo would definitely be “enthusiastic but misses the point history tries to teach it appears”.
-I would definitely make sure to have Ingo write a bunch of letters to Emmet as his memory slowly comes back. And then make sure they stay with the Pearl Clan marked “Send to Emmet [Last Name] when Ingo disappears”. So his brother won’t worry for how many months or years Ingo will be gone.
-Make sure teaching how to read and right is a something everybody gets no matter how old. Introduce the concept of certain students getting overstimulated by noise or attention so make different fidget toys. No fidget spinners.
-Mentor Rei, Akari, or both in the ways of modern battling so they don’t feel inadequate compared to me… I probably will never get the hang of crafting pokeballs. But my understanding of Pokémon will probably put me in the Galaxy Team Spotlight.
-Desensitize the Jubilife residents from panicking at the sight of even mostly harmless Pokémon like freaking Bidoof.
-Get different apricorn colors imported so we can make specific Pokeballs (Dive, Net etc).
-Make sure everyone knows about conservation so species don’t go instinct. Yes, we need to watch our affect on the environment. Unlikely it would change too much, but who knows.
-Tell all kinds of other fiction as stories. I will play into subverting standard tropes like damsel in distress. Most used meeting places.
-Grill Professor Laventon for information about what the Galarian people know about giant Pokémon. Explain we have it mostly under control back where I am from, technically true.
-Post a public letter after the banishment thing. Explaining that I didn’t chose to fall from the freaking sky however long ago. How I felt betrayed after doing so many tasks for the town helping them to understand Pokemon. The anger I felt when Kamado failed to recognize my quelling the Nobles was all on his orders. I could have just been shoved to pasture keeping duty to let someone else do it… That I feared for my life during each Noble fight and probably almost died in a few of them. You would think the fact I bleed just like everyone else would prove I wasn’t a disguised Pokémon/monster. Of course, I do in fact get Pokémon could seem like the worst monsters from your mind come to life. They are still dangerous back where I’m from, but you cannot hold an individual of a species as the standard. Also, the Clans were hardly better for not realizing two physical statues meant two different Pokémon! How much blood was spilt in either clan for refusing to admit they both could be right?!
(Probably ask permission from Cyllene if there was a public notice board everyone saw. And organize it so I was out of the village for a few days after posting my grievances. Just to let them think on that for a while without me~)
—Might make a part two for post-game shenanigans. If it’s not already taken, call me Checklist Anon if that is okay.
Damn! You’ve got it planned out!! Respect, my dude! You know what you’re about and you’re ready to do shit as efficiently as you can!
Hell, I wanna fic about you just steamrolling through Hisui and fixing shit people didn’t even realize need fixing!!
Keep it coming, babe!

S/O is hit with an age-reversing quirk with Deku, Bakugou, and Todoroki
Word count: 1,178
⚠️ mentions of vomit/throwing up
Deku-
You had gone missing after *another* villain attack at UA
Everyone went out looking for you, only to find a baby with your clothes on it.
They brought baby you back to campus to get re-aged in private, but your boyfriend was panicking and soon caught wind of the returning search party.
“Oh my gosh, who’s baby is that?”
“...it’s Y/N, dude.”
*cue Izuku passing out*
He didn’t actually pass out, but he came pretty damn close to it.
After calming down a bit, he immediately started researching things about this unusual quirk (while also playing with you).
He learned the hard way that babies are very hard to take care of
He was frantically looking through every book in the library with you in his arms when you suddenly grabbed hold of his hair and yanked.
“Ow! Please don’t do that.”
You, in true gremlin fashion, pull more of his hair.
Even though his scalp hurt, his arms were sore, and he had drool on his shoulder, he didn’t trust anyone else with you
So you stayed in his arms, murmuring lightly as he pulled book after book out of the library shelves.
Eventually, he found what he was looking for and celebrated, swinging you around in the air.
Baby brain: swing=happy :D
(You threw up on him)
Still, he ran to the teachers with his solution and puke covering the front of his shirt, you clinging to him the entire way.
Once you were back to normal, he told you all about what baby you had done. Burying your head in your arms out of embarrassment, you made him promise not to tell anyone else.
Bakugou-
When you hadn’t showed up for school in the morning, he became worried and decided to skip class for an at-home visit
He was absolutely not expecting you to be waddling around your house as a toddler.
Even though he absolutely hates kids, he couldn’t just leave you there
So he begrudgingly called the hospital to fix you while holding you as far away from him as possible.
Good news: the hospital did have a cure to age-reversal (it seemed to happen quite often…). Bad news: the cure was waiting for it to wear off.
He was not happy about this
You were running all over the place, biting things and making messes
For the most part, he just kind of let you do your thing (such a responsible parent, I know).
That changed when you decided to use his arm as a chew toy
“WHAT THE FUCK. LET GO OF ME YOU DUMB BASTARD BABY!”
He shook you off, yelling obscenities and glaring at you.
You, being a child with no emotional control, started crying
It all went downhill from there.
He was extremely scared that he had hurt you, so he tried his hardest to comfort you
(he patted you on the head and distracted you with hand sparks)
Surprisingly, this worked. Despite never being good with kids, his hands were popular in the entertainment department.
He smiled softly as you stared at his sparking palms. “Do you like my quirk? Yeah, I bet you do.”
It was an rarely sweet moment
After that ordeal, you fell asleep and he stayed right by your side until you woke up.
While sleeping, the effects of the de-aging quirk wore off and you were fine again.
Trust me when I say he was extremely glad to have you back, even though he refused to show it.
“You normal now? Good, you were so annoying as a kid. I wanted to blast your stupid baby face off.”
Very sweet, Katsuki.
After you were well enough to speak, he made you explain what happened.
Turns out you had been hit by a fleeing villain during a freak hit-and-run
Your toddler self had managed to stumble 1/3 of a mile back home, where he found you
After hearing your story, he rolled his eyes and scoffed, scolding you for being such a dumbass.
Todoroki-
Hoo boy. He’s definitely one of the worst with kids.
It’s not like he doesn’t try, but… children hate him, and he has no clue how to communicate with them
Thus landing him in an awkward situation when he was tasked with dealing with you, as a part of his hero training.
You had volunteered as a test subject of sorts, allowing the UA staff to age you down (with the help of a citizen with a de-aging quirk) so they could quiz the heroes-in-training on their kiddie protecting knowledge without the risk of harming actual children.
You, now seven years old, were going to be your boyfriend’s biggest challenge.
The situation was simple enough: you were “stuck” under a collapsed building, and he had to rescue and console you.
Climbing swiftly through the wreckage, Todoroki followed the sound of your cries until he found you.
Your leg was trapped under a large piece of debris, which he removed with a burst of ice.
He grabbed you and held you close to his chest, attempting to soothe your hiccups and frantic whimpers (7-year-old you is an incredibly good actor-)
After he had calmed you down a bit, he crouched down to inspect your wound
That’s when you smacked him.
“Don touch me!”
“I need to. You’re hurt.”
“Nuh-uh, I don’t want you to touch me.”
“Why not?”
“You’re gross :( I don’t let gross boys touch me.”
(The other students of 1-A, watching this unfold through security cameras, were cackling)
“...I’m not gross.”
“Prove it.” You crossed your arms, limping a bit as you kept up your injured facade
Todoroki let a shard of ice bloom in his hands and watched as your eyes lit up.
He allowed you to hold the little blob, effectively distracting you from the bandages he wrapped around your leg
When he was done patching you up, he grabbed you and carried you off (ignoring your cries of how mean he was for tricking you)
He brought you to the endpoint of the trial and set you down, clearing his exam.
Kid you was still incredibly angry at him, but you were pulled away to be re-aged before you could let him know just how much he pissed you off
“6/10, bonus points for quick thinking and distraction. Minus points for them calling you gross.” -Aizawa
After you had been re-aged, you were still a bit peeved (your memories were blurry, but you could remember being mad).
As you explained your predicament to your boyfriend, he ran his hand through his sweaty hair and smiled.
“I’d much rather deal with regular you being angry. You were a nightmare as a child.”
“What the hell is that supposed to mean, Shoto? Are you saying I was a bad kid?”
“Uh. No? Maybe? I mean, in that situation, yes.”
You flicked him on the forehead. “I think I was a very polite child, thank you very much.”
“Whatever you say, sweetheart.”

Q-uick Qcard: STP 2.6
Well, fuck - it's week six of mine and the excellent @q-card's drabble event, and, well... the titles lied to me, half of them wasn't here. Still, doesn't mean a bitch can't work her magic, and I have a frankly wonderful subject for it: one I've always wanted to explore, in fact, and something you'll never have seen from me before. Be great practice for a certain little sequel I've got coming up fairly soon, too... ;)
Consider this a spiritual sequel to last week's, with a nice little cross-posting to AO3 here, and welcome, my friends, to:
Galaxies Hath No Fury
It takes Adam Soong a mere moment to realise that he very much isn't in the City of Angels anymore.
... In fact, it isn't even the same planet. He gasps impossible air in the impossible cold of deep space, and whimpers an impossible sob.
"I prefer to think of it as the 'City of Gods'," notes a familiar voice, burning even colder than the void, and chills ratchet up Soong's spine. "Unfortunately for you, you're very much in the wrong neighbourhood."
Adam spins on a click that shouldn't echo, and truly wishes he hadn't; his ears roar in protest, his eyes follow suit, as the veil of blackness lifts.
"That's... that can't be -"
"Ooo, look at you! Not just a biologist!" Q crows, darkly sing-song. "You're the first human to visit one of these, I'll have you know. Feel special, Doctor... I'm so rarely this furious."
Adam is anything but stupid, but faced with the insane - "Q, I - what the fuck is this?! How have you -"
"Oh, you're going to love this," Q drawls, grin unhinged. "Biology, meet your new worst enemy, Temporal Physics."
He snaps sharp fingers and he's professorial, spectacles, waistcoat and all; the wicked cane between his hands does even less to reassure Adam than their location.
"Time, as I mentioned, has abandoned me - down there, anyway." He gestures vaguely with the cane, a hologram of Earth suddenly spinning aimlessly beside him. "Up here, though..."
He doesn't snap this time: the hologram simply shatters, Earth's shards razors slicing through his companion's exposed skin as though he's butter, and Adam feels a thrill of pure horror even as he hisses in pain.
"Well, the balance of power redresses. She remembers her place. And speaking of which..."
The geneticist is flung helplessly backwards, and he shrieks against the bellowing rush of gravity as he hovers, suspended, on the crux of oblivion.
"She isn't the only one that needs to recall such things."
The god's eyes wear madness with a horrific comfort, and his smile sets every individual nerve of the human on a knife-edge.
"Tell me, dear Doctor - is your daughter also allergic to black holes?" Soong pales five distinct shades, and Q chuckles thinly. "What am I saying - you're a scientist, you love a good experiment! Which one shall we test?"
Finally, Adam rediscovers his voice, and it rings high with disgust. "Don't you fucking dare -"
He's thrust ever-closer, and he's not sure which is the more petrifying: the empty ice of the event horizon, or the murderous sear of a gaze he can barely deign to meet.
"Don't you ever presume to tell me what to do, little man," Q snarls, and for a split second, Adam acknowledges every shred of the universe's rage.
It's all he can do to stay sane against it, and he's not sure he manages. Whimpers pull themselves from his throat, and his mouth hangs uselessly in an unuttered scream.
"I d-didn't -" he stammers, terrified. "He got in the w-way, Q - how was I s-supposed to -"
"I don't care for your excuses, Doctor." Adam shuts up, instantly. "All I care about is that he lives - and all you should care about is that I will make you watch your daughter be torn to shreds if he doesn't. Again, and again, and again. Bye now!"
He's gone on a click, and even back in his lab, shivering weakly, the mania of a god burns in his mind's eye. He starts frightfully as words scroll across his screen, the keystrokes heavy and deadening.
I HOPE YOU'VE REMEMBERED YOUR PLACE, DOCTOR. ;)
Adam Soong breaks down, and reaches for the nearest bottle.

Be a Good Guest, part 4
**I’m tired, so if there’s typos shh, we don’t see them**
CW: Whump, captivity, punishment belting, glass shard wounds, blood, escape attempt, manhandling, dragging, creepy/parental whumper, restraints, forced to repeat rules
MASTERLIST
Night fell as Gabriel sat on the floor, his arms and head laying against the couch cushions. He held the butter knife tucked against the side of his arm. Walter was off in the house somewhere rustling around, moving furniture, hammering nails, rattling equipment. He didn’t tell him what he was making, but he knew it was for him, a “surprise” he called it. His spine shivered every time he thought about it, his heart was constantly elevated and pounding in his chest. It never seemed to calm down since the car crash.
He slunk off the couch, sitting next to the hook his leg was shackled to as he wedged the butter knife into the wood gaps. Every time there was a loud banging noise from Walter, Gabriel would use the knife as a lever to slowly pull off splinters of wood, some making an occasional cracking sound.
A big chuck of wood snapped off, flipping in the air as he flinched back. He already had a few splinters in his hand, he would rather not have one in his eye. He pulled at the metal loop, wiggling it around to see if it could come free yet, to his surprise, he felt a faint pop as one side had come loose. He took an excited shuddering breath, unbelieving that it was finally, finally happening.
He desperately jostled it back and forth, as it let out a high-pitch squeaking noise grinding against the wood. He almost got carried away until he noticed Walter’s hammering had stopped.
Silence.
Please don’t come out. Of all the times, please don’t come out now.
He heard him scooting furniture around again as he took a sigh of relief.
He forced the hook back and forth until one side popped off. He gasped when adrenaline shot through his body, his hands trembled uncontrollably as he slipped the chain off it. He jumped to his feet, wrapping the chain around his arm as he kept nervously glancing down the hall.
He tiptoed to the door, looking up at the dozens of locks clamping it closed. He tried to unlatch them as slowly as possible, light clattering kept escaping with every move. This was impossible to do silently, but he was so close. He wanted so badly to just rip all the latches open and run, but there was still time to mess this up.
He froze when he realized the house was silent. Too silent.
“Gabriel?” A voice called.
He jumped out of his skin when he heard his name being called. He whirled around in a panic until he grabbed the first thing closest to him, a tiny almost doll-like chair as he hoisted it over his head, staggering over to the window. It’s now or never...
He slammed the chair into the glass as hard as he could, it shattered and crumbled to the floor in fractures. He heard his name being yelled as he threw himself out the window, shards of glass remaining around the window slicing his arms and legs. He was still barefoot, as the dirt beneath him was cold as ice. The grass wasn’t any better as he ran, ignoring the blood running down his arm, the freezing air chilling his skin, the heavy chain still clamped around his leg and around his arm.
It was dark, he was barely dodging the silhouettes of trees but he could just see the break where the road was where his car had crashed. Sure enough the car was long gone. He climbed the hill about half way till his foot slipped, hitting the ground as the chain fell from his arms. He hesitated, glancing behind him at the chain loosely dragging behind him, but pulled himself back up and kept going.
He gasped when his foot was snagged back, turning around to realize the chain had got caught on a root.
“Gabriel!”
His voice echoed through the woods not far. But he was so close! His heart sunk when the voice called again, getting closer, he could see a faint light in the distance from his lantern. He scrambled and hid behind a tree, back pressed against the rough bark as he gasped for air. He closed his fingers around his mouth to try and quiet his breathing as he trembled. There was no time to go back and unhook it without being seen, his best chance was to stay out of sight until he hopefully passed.
He jolted when he heard leaves crunching behind him. He felt his hands were soaked with something as he held it up. Was that blood? But nothing hurt... He shook the thoughts from his head as the crunching got closer. It stopped just a few feet behind him, as silence fell upon the woods. Nothing could be heard aside from the crickets chattering and the owl hooting.
Gabriel shouted with fear when the chain around his ankle yanked him from behind the tree. He skidded to the ground as Walter continued to drag him all the way down the hill. Walter was muttering and grumbling to himself inaudibly as he worked to pull Gabriel's struggling arms behind him, wrapping the loose chain around his wrists. Gabriel was screaming, crying and whimpering with his face in the dirt. Walter kept him pinned down with his weight until he bent him back off the ground, hoisting him over his shoulder.
“LET ME GO!” Gabriel screamed from his shoulder, pointlessly squirming around. Walter had both arms wrapped around his thighs to keep his legs still as he carried him home, the chain clanging together with every kick. He was dumped onto the floor, slamming the front door shut behind him as Walter stood over him furiously.
“What do you think you’re doing!? Smashing the window, running off like that! How did you even get the hook off?!” He screamed at him.
“Don’t you ever do that again! You me?! Don’t ev-” His voice was cut off as he looked down as his own hands, dripping with blood. “Wha-?” He whispered, turning his hands as with a puzzled look. He glanced down at Gabriel, who was helplessly collapsed on the ground at his feet, shaking uncontrollably and panting.
“Oh little one...” He gasped, staring at the bleeding man at his feet, blood pooling down his arm with a glass shard poking out.
“What am I going to do with you.” He sighed, shaking his head with a finger and thumb rubbing on the bridge of his nose.
“Y-you could... L-let me go?” He rasped, his voice shivering.
“Oh Gabriel, just look at you! You’re a mess! I took my eyes off you for just a few hours, and this happened! You’re bleeding...” He sighed, dropping to his knees, gently taking his hand in his, turning his arm to assess the damage.
Gabriel let off a whimper, turning his head to hide his face. Walter was silent for a while, before reaching over to take Gabriel's chin to tilt it up.
“Little one, this can never happen again. I can’t have you running off like that at every chance you get and hurting yourself! This is why you stay here, safe, with me.” He said, his voice stern full of concern. Gabriel's lip quivered as he only stared up at him with sad fearful eyes.
“So, as much as I want to say you already got a punishment based on your arms alone, to prevent you from hurting yourself any worse, I’m going to teach you a lesson.” He said, abruptly standing to his feet, grabbing hold of his arm and ripping him to his feet.
“Wha-?” Gabriel squeaked out before he was drug into the basement. His feet fumbling behind him as he was pulled down the stairs.
“Wait... Wait.. Wait, Wait!!” Gabriel yelled, his gut feeling getting worse, and worse the more he realized what was happening. The room was almost pitch black, as he was thrown to the floor, his knees hitting the cold floor. Nothing could be heard but the echoing of his heavy breathing as his arms were tied in front of him to a beam.
“Now my first instinct is to bandage you up and toss you in a bath.” His voice spoke as he fumbled with something. “But since you’ll just a liiiitle bit more bloody, I’d rather do this now.”
“Do what?! What are you doing?” Gabriel cried. He didn’t know why tears were already running down his face. But deep down, he already knew what was going to happen, he just wasn’t ready to admit it. He pressed his face against the beam, sobbing with exhaustion. A small light flickered on above him as he squinted around, Walter was behind him somewhere.
“I want you to repeat back what I say.” He instructed, grabbing Gabriel's shirt to pull it up around his shoulders.
“I-I’m not d-doing anything for you!” He shuttered back, the cold getting to him.
“I want you to say, I will not run.”
“You’re craz-!” His words were cut off with a cry as a belt struck his back. He broke into a sob as his body cringed, slowly slinking further to the floor.
“Say it.” He hissed.
Gabriel was silent for too long as another strike slashed across his back. He cried out as he helplessly twisted his body against the restraints around his wrists.
“One more chance.” His voice growled.
“I WILL NOT RUN!” He cried, his voice cracking. Walter smiled, letting out a satisfied sigh.
“I will behave, and do as I’m told.” He grinned. Gabriel's heart sank, how much more did he want from him? He heard the belt rattle in his hands as he flinched, immediately whimpering “I’ll b-behave and d-d- as I’m t-t-told.” He stuttered.
He let off another flinch when he heard the belt drop to the ground, his back burning and stinging. The man had a strong arm and didn’t hold back, he would give him that.
He cried hysterically as he was taken down from the beam, the man cradling him in his arms, stroking his hair and thumbing the blood from his face.
“Was that so hard now?” He cooed.
“Come on, you’re alright. Let's get you cleaned up and taken care of now.”

TW: Child abuse, Implied Death(s).
—————-
Okay, She just needed to get out of this obviously fake room and then hopefully find where molten and miles were and then hop into another dimension far away from this one for a while till all of this blows over.
Whenever that was.
Yeah sounds pretty simple, she could for sure do this without breaking a sweat.
Or she would if the door wasn’t locked!
Well then again she did get kidnapped so the door being locked makes sense, what kidnapper wouldn’t lock the door? If they didn’t, Alex would have been long gone by now finally reuniting with Molten and miles but nope she was still here.
In this painfully quiet room. By herself.
Did the others even know where she was? Probably not, she didn’t even know where she was but surely they had seen which direction she had taken off in.
Tony maybe with his cool tech- Actually he could have been the one who kidnapped her! His suit is surprisingly fast and he is a well known D-bag, so she had heard, so this could all be a punishment made by him because she ran away!
What the heck? Who did he think he was, Her dad?
God she hoped not.
The door made a loud clicking noise, which caught her attention, before it was quietly pushed open.
She curiously turned her head to see who it was, maybe it was Tony who got to her, if that was the case then She was going to be so mad but then again what If it wasn’t?
In fact, It could have been more than one person!
That doesn’t make sense, she was certain it was just the one person, Her sense went off immediately before everything went dark and she had only sensed just the one person.
Didn’t matter though, she would just simply freeze them and escape, It’ll be easy!
“Oh, You’re awake that’s good”
Blue eyes. Those same blue eyes back at the event. The one who caused her so much distress and fear that molten had to step in because she couldn’t move and help them escape.
Alex felt her heart drop.
God please, anyone but him. Keep him away from me.
Watching Alex’s face switch from childish curiosity to immediate and paralysing fear as she backed herself into a corner just to get away from him, Noah simply places the clipboard he had been carrying down on a nearby desk.
Clipboard. Writing. Can’t move, why can’t I move? Stuck. Can’t move. Too cold.
“That fear response of yours surely is something,” He commented, looking at her curiously. “Sure I may of had a small involvement in the matter but I didn’t add anything that wasn’t already there, That was all you Alex”
Just hearing him call her name made her begin to panic even further, she was already backed into a corner, what else could she possibly do?
He was getting closer, She needed to move.
Needles. Too many needles. Hurts. Can’t move. Can’t breathe. Hurts too much.
His eyes shifted to the ice that was beginning to appear around the room, spikes began to rapidly grow the closer he got to her as she got increasingly more defensive, sharp shards of ice shinning in the reflection of the lights.
“You actually caught me off guard the first time you tried this little…’Trick’ of yours,” A few spikes had gotten increasingly closer to him only to shrink back before they made contact, some even curving in a completely different direction. “But as you see, Ice doesn’t really work on me”
She needed to get out here now. The door was still open so if she made a dash for it then she could finally escape, but her body needed to snap out of it first
Pain then nothing then suddenly everything at once like she breathing for the first time all over again, it repeated again few more times. That she remembered.
“I could teach you how to control this new power of yours, if you would like” He crouched down in front of her Letting out a slight laugh “But it seems like Pyrokinesis is your main ability, that might be my fault actually”
Cold Cold Cold Cold Cold-
“You see I tested on a few spiders a few years back but a few somehow managed to escape, I didn’t really care ‘they’re just spiders what could they possibly do?’ But how wrong I was”
“…You” She tensed up when he tilted his head curiously, she managed to get out a quiet fearful “You’re the reason to why I’m like this..?”
He let out a hum, “No actually, like I said before this is all you, You already had small hints of Pyrokinesis in your DNA ever since you were small but as you got older they began to fade away the spider simply reactivated what was already there”
Alex took a quick glance towards the door, it was still open. She could still run.
“If Ice doesn’t work then… does fire?”
He gave her a confused look, “What do you-“
Taking his confusion as an opportunity, Alex stomped on the floor causing a burst of flames to appear. She was far too scared to consentrate on making them do damage but they did catch Noah off guard and stumble back.
She made a beeline straight to the door and into a corridor that reminded her way too much of that cold lab room she awoken in a few times.
Bandages all over my arms, It hurt, Why was it so cold? Kept waking up. Breathing hurts. Needles. Cold. Too cold. Dad it’s cold.
She heard him call out from behind her and just kept running, There had to be an exit somewhere.
She’ll go back to Avengers if it means not being here, Anywhere that wouldn’t cause her anymore pain.
Away from that lab.
Away from him.
Anywhere but here.

The final match and the wrap-up of the festival. Surely this will be an epic match for the ages, right?
[No. 43 - Todoroki vs. Bakugou]
And we are ready to start the final match-
Alright, so it’s been a hot minute since I bothered with translation stuff, but here I am once again curious enough to spend an hour on this. I’ll keep the summarization short for reading convenience:
All Might poster:
信用 (shinyou) [confidence, trust, faith, reputation] [credit (finance]
策 (saku) [scheme, plan, policy, step, means]
In-setting, this is probably some kind of credit plan advertisement. Narratively speaking, however, this could very well be a reference to All Might’s long-term plan to inspire trust and faith in the population by posing as a natural hero, and doing everything he’s been doing.
I don’t really want to try and tackle anything else here, but I am glad I at least tackled that All Might ad. Anywho, on with the actual plot.
The final match is being televised across the country, with everyone’s eyes on the two as they stare each other down. Katsuki is fired up to win this, while Shouto is much more calm and focused.
The moment the match starts, Shouto throws out a huge glacier of ice, pretty much as large as the one he engulfed Sero with. Present Mic comments on the gauntlet being thrown down, and how Shouto wants to avoid close combat. Do they have their winner already? Izuku realizes how Shouto had carefully aimed that attack while staying on guard - it’s totally different than when he fought Sero.
And it’s a good thing Shouto stayed on guard, as can be heard in the thunking inside the ice in before Katsuki literally blasts his way out, sending ice shards flying into Shouto’s face.
Katsuki blocked the ice with an explosions and started digging his way through like a mole. As Katsuki prepares himself for Shouto’s next attack, he thinks on how a strong quirk like Shouto’s means his attacks aren’t that precise. He demonstrates this when he throws himself over Shouto’s head and ice with a well-timed explosion, grabbing Shouto’s hair and shoulder as he flies past him. Izuku is impressed with the move, as is Ochako.
As Katsuki hits the ground feet-first, he uses his momentum to fling Shouto out towards the edge of the ring while demanding to know if Shouto is looking down on him. Shouto just manages to keep himself in by throwing a ring of ice behind himself to catch him at the edge. However, Katsuki is already rushing in with a wide right hook as he comes in on Shouto’s left side. Shouto responds by just barely dodging the blast, grabbing Katsuki’s arm. Endeavor wants Shouto to use his fire, and I just.
Give me a moment, I want to emphasise how stupid it would have been for Shouto to use his fire in this exact moment, and not even narratively speaking. Like yeah, let’s totally a) give Katsuki x degree burns while also b) setting off all the sweat on his hand/possibly body and c) likely blowing away all of Shouto's defensive ice keeping him from ringing out and d) probably knocking shouto out anyways, since Katsuki has concussion resistance (i'm thinking) and shouto very clearly Does Not.
(facepalms)
Endeavor, please, you’re a pro hero. You’ve seen Katsuki’s quirk. Please take five seconds and think of how bad that plan would have gone. Please, sir.
Back to the story. There’s a beat where Katsuki and Shouto both realize the opportunity is there - but then it passes as Katsuki throws himself backwards and out of Shouto’s grip. Katsuki is annoyed he’s apparently not good enough for Shouto’s fire, which, AGAIN, I would like to reference my above rant. Even if on second thought, Katsuki might be heat-resistant enough to take those flames (or at least think he can).
Aizawa pieces together that Katsuki had timed all his explosions just so he could get caught by Shouto’s left hand. He’s feeling him out. Katsuki’s honing his battle instinct with every fight. Shouto is moving pretty well, too, but his attacks are lacking. He’s lost his drive ever since his match against Izuku.
Katsuki states that Shouto will regret making a fool of him. He’ll kill him - he’s taking the first to end all firsts! There’s no point in winning against some half-assed punk. No point if he can’t do batter than Deku. So if he’s not trying to win, get the hell out of his face. Why is he even here?
Shouto’s mind is fuzzy static - or at least, the way it panel is formatted makes it seem like it. Which makes sense, considering he’s just had all his personal trauma dredged back up and bouncing around in his head. He mentally apologizes to Katsuki, and that since he fought Izuku, he just doesn’t know what he should do, whether or not what he’s doing is right. He’s not sure about anything anymore.
As Katsuki throws himself up into the air for another attack, Izuku shouts at Shouto from the stands to not lose. Shouto jolts, teeth grit, and for a moment it seems like he’s found a second wind. Katsuki’s annoyed for just a moment, but then is elated; if Shouto’s gonna fight, fight to win. Katsuki starts spinning himself in a tight circle in the air while Shouto braces himself. Katsuki spins in with the force of a hurricane, while Shouto’s flames start to pick up.
Katsuki’s ultimate attack hits, meeting no resistance. Present Mic notes how Katsuki’s taken that massive firepower he showed in the fight against Ochako and added some spin and oomph to become a human artillery shell. But Shouto doesn’t seem to have fired off that heat blast he showed when fighting Izuku. In the end…
Katsuki’s lying flat on the floor, eyes wide in disbelief as he catches up on what just happened - Shouto snuffed out his flames. And now, he’s well outside the ring, unconscious on top of a pile of ice boulders.
Honestly, I love how Hori handled this bit right here. The two panels I picked are beautiful bits of storytelling and characterization, and honestly a welcome change from other manga where the character just gets over their trauma all at once. Like you can tell that Shouto is in no place to be using his fire - or even fighting at all. And Shouto, in that instant, recognizes that and accepts that he can’t win here, that he doesn’t even want to win. He just wants the match to be over so he can sit down somewhere and think without being interrupted by everyone and everything.
Katsuki, however, can’t accept that so easily. He shoves himself onto his feet, stumbling his way over to where Shouto is lying unconscious. He grabs Shouto by the front of his shirt and yanks him up, demanding he stop messing around. He doesn’t want this win, not like this…
and he passes out from Midnight using her quirk, thumping to the ground next to Shouto.
Honestly, that look in his eyes wasn’t anger, that was distress. Probably distress for once again falling short of his own expectations, for a fight that feels unfinished. I doubt he was actually going to hurt Shouto - at most, he probably would have dropped him back to the ice and tossed a few explosions out at nothing to vent. Which probably would have looked bad, but not NEARLY as bad as what UA is about to pull in the next chapter.
Izuku looks put out himself, with no idea what to think or feel about this outcome. Midnight confirms that with Shouto out of bounds, Katsuki is the winner. And with that, the competition is concluded. The first-year winner of UA’s sports festival is Bakugou Katsuki of class A.
Even in his sleep, he looks distressed.
Man, this chapter. Can’t believe we’re only one away from wrapping up the arc. I’ll see y’all tomorrow for the finale.

Bucky x Reader- Yours
a...ging stops at 18 until you find your soulmate so the two of you can grow old together. d...amage done to a person also translates into their soulmate’s body (cuts, bruises and all)
Thank you @starofthedawn! love our bucky boi :’)
Time had become something that simply passed you by. The decades skipped and hopped, one to another and you remained stuck in the body of a young woman that had aged far beyond her looks. The soulmates that aged, the ones that found one another, they watched you with pitying eyes as they saw the heavy weight behind your eyes. It was clear the excitement of waiting on someone meant just for you had taken it’s toll and you weren’t sure if you’d ever find that special someone to grow old with.
It wasn’t just the time that had chipped at the hope you’d held onto in the 1940s when every one of your peers waited for their soulmate and your parents were hoping you’d find yours before even a week passed. Everyone was eager and you had been too. You had wanted to know everything about whoever was out there. At first you hadn’t wanted to, thinking them a troublemaker, but you were certain they were just clumsy. It’s why you always ended up with a nasty shiner that you had to try and ice down or a split lip your mother helped you nurse.
When the war started gathering up every capable young man across the country you were certain that you’d lose your soulmate, whether by distance or warfare. It was something you feared once- never finding your soulmate. So you had done the only sane, or not so sane thing, you’d offered yourself up to help the soldiers as their nurse. Every night you went to bed relieved that your soulmate had escaped another day seemingly unharmed, besides the deep set ache in your bones but you had soon forgotten if it was his or yours.
The war had ended and things from there grew more bleak. Surely you’d know if he had been one of the casualties, wouldn’t you? But doubt crept into your mind. You remember laying on your cot one evening when you found a moment to rest, mind gone foggy from the days constant movement and too little time to yourself. You felt like bricks laid out against the stiff cotton and it was a struggle to even twitch your finger.
Suddenly, the air was knocked from your lungs so forcefully youd choked out a cough just to remind yourself how to start breathing again. Your head began to ache terribly and your arm held a terrible weight to it. You tried to brush it off, you were just tired or maybe your other half was just feeling a bit lethargic that day- nothing serious. You had let your eyes fall shut but your rest was interupted with a vicious burning that made you scream aloud, eyes burning with tears as you clawed at the junction of your shoulder and arm.
You shuddered, pulling your cardigan tighter around you as you remembered the night you’d felt unimaginable pain. You hadn’t really felt the same since. Disconnected, odd. Maybe it was a sign that he was gone, that you’d be stuck mourning and living out one existence after the other. You’d tried asking, the few willing to share, what it felt like to lose your soulmate whether it be before or after they’d met but no one could truly put the agony into words.
Every so often you felt dull aches, a sore jaw from clenching too long, a sharp pain at the back of your skull... But it never lasted and as the world rocketed itself into a new age you believed that you were crazy and that these aches were just a phantom to remind you of a love you’d never get to experience.
“Don’t look so glum,” Your boss Helen laughed, elbowing your side playfully and pulling you from your thoughts as you trudged through the back door. You tore your hat from your head, blowing a lose strand of hair from your eyes as you gave her a grim smile.
“How could I look anything other than delighted when I know I’ll be in my lovely place of work for ten hours making grumpy people their caffeine fix for the day?” You teased back, a small grin working its way onto your face. Despite the decades spent wondering where half of your heart was, you had still found people and things to love.
One of those people was Helen and one of those things was her lovely cafe. She’d employed you nearly three years ago and while you hadn’t aged a single day you were beginning to see the slight shift in her. A gray hair or two could be found in her amber locks, wrinkles at her mouth, eyes and forehead making her look...weathered in a way. Like a well loved book. She had stories full of excitement and happiness and more importantly, a soulmate.
“You’re a brat but you’re my brat, now get out there and work your magic,” Helen commanded and you had to tear your eyes away from her. She was gorgeous, she was happy, she was loved, she was whole.
The day went like clockwork, you clocked in at 6 and greeted the morning dump of sour sleepy people. The rush got you far enough along that by the time you were done cleaning your station your coworker James had punched in and you were set free to go on a fifteen minute break. It went too quickly and then you were half goofing off and half doing dishes until you took a lunch, your feet aching in your shoes but your mind gone pleasantly numb.
Work kept you from the sink hole that had appeared in your chest.
You hummed a tune, one always stuck at the back of your mind that played when you let yourself sink into the comfortable rhythm of cleaning the plates returned to you by customers who needed a nutritious or indulgent pick me up with their daily espresso or latte. The clouds had blanketed the sky and there was a familiar chill in the cafe that made the warm sink water lull you even further into your peace of mind.
Now seven hours into your shift you were feeling eager to get home and kick up your feet but anxious to experience the dread that eventually seeped in. Your company had been enough for decades, or you had learned to let yourself be enough, but it didn’t end the longing of wanting someone there who knew you better than you knew yourself.
“Y/N!” Came Jame’s clear as a bell voice, the echo of his tenor bumping against the glass wall you’d built in your mind to keep everything out.
“Whatdya want?” You hollered to the front of the shop, drying off a mug as you took a few steps through the archway. James was at the back of the shop, cleaning up a spill and there was a customer hovering near the front counter. Their head was bent low and their shoulders hunched up to their shoulders. They wore a hoodie over their head and their hair cloaked their face, you couldn’t help but let your gaze linger but realized the man at the front must be why James had called for your help.
“Oh!” You exclaimed, setting the cleaned mug on the edge of the counter as you approached the register. “S-sorry, what can I get for you?” You stumbled over your words and had to shake your head. It seemed you’d gotten a little too lost in your thoughts as you had trouble coming back to the present.
“Anything with caramel,” Came a voice that warmed you from the inside out. Your eyes snapped out and you found you were trapped by icy eyes that held nothing but a gentle shyness in them. The stranger was strong, his appearance almost intimidating, but behind the curtain of thick hair was an almost boyish face. But yet it was his eyes that you kept going back to as you tried to remember where you even were.
They were the loveliest eyes you’d ever seen, but they were the saddest you’d ever encountered. You didn’t think you’d ever see such a lost look on anyone other than your own reflection in the mirror. Your heart stuttered uncomfortably in your chest and you fumbled to take the man’s order on the register. You gave up completely and spun around on your heel once you realized you’d been staring too long.
In your sudden movement though you had caught the edge of the already forgotten mug and it toppled to the ground.
“Fuck!” you cursed, immediately dropping to the ground to pick up the shards. You felt too warm, your head foggy and body floating yet heavy. Your chest was tight and you couldn’t put a name on the feeling. Maybe you were having a heart attack. You’d gone too long without a soulmate and time had finally caught up to your ageless body.
You were once again trapped in your mind as you fumbled with the sharp pieces, inhaling sharply as you cut yourself.
“Double fuck!” You whined, squeezing your finger tight, trying to stop the flow of blood as you dropped the pieces back to the floor.
“Jesus, Y/N, you feelin’ alright?” James asked, coming to your side. You simply nodded and popped your finger into your mouth.
“H-he wants caramel,” you said airily, nodding back to the stranger but when you looked back at him his eyes had gone wide, hood pulled back from the top of his head. You were nearly about to ask if he’d seen a ghost but then you saw the liquid ruby gathering at the tip of his own finger. The same one you had cut.
Your breath had been stolen from your lungs and your legs went out from under you as you sank against the counter behind you.
“Y/N?” Helen asked, the commotion grabbing her attention all the way from her office. “Sweetheart what’s wrong have you eaten? Can I get you-”
“I- um just thinks she’s a little in shock,” Came that lovely voice once more and you felt a bit more grounded. He was much closer now, having come around the counter, brushing his cut finger against his jeans. It was only now you noticed one of his hands caught the light and revealed a prosthetic.
Your shoulder suddenly ached with memories and your eyes welled up. “Where have you been?” You croaked, hands shaking and knees still weak.
He sank down to kneel in front of you, ignoring both Helen and James’ protests to be mindful of the shattered mug. His calloused hands were large and gentle as they gathered yours up. His own eyes grew misty as he took you in.
“I know I’m late, it’s a long story so why don’t I just start with a hello?” He asked, helping you to your feet.
You laughed a bubbly and nearly hysterical laugh that made you feel lightheaded all over again but he just held on tighter to you and you never wanted to be let go again. “Maybe you could start with your name too,” You teased and you felt nearly as breathless as you’d been the night you’d only known pain.
You supposed that was going to be a part of his long story and your heart ached already at the thought of him experiencing any of what you’d only felt a fraction of.
“I’m Bucky, and what can I call a beautiful gal like you?” Bucky grinned, his flesh hand releasing your arm so he could brush his fingertips against your cheek in wonderment.
“Yours, I’m all yours,” You choked out, a watery grin painted onto your face.
Time had become something that simply passed you by, but now you were ready to begin the rest of your life.
