I needed to complain about this: i don't like art / edits were Kana has star eyes ( Ai's eyes ). Kana is different from everyone else, she has galaxy eyes, and that's precious. Kana isn't involved to this cycle of lies & manipulation. She's the only character innocent from the main characters, and that's her. She's different. I don't look down on everyone else ( Ruby is also one of my favorites ), but Kana isn't in the same category as Ai, Ruby, Aqua and Akane. And that's why she's so lonely 😭.

Sorry to bother you, but the bodyguard post you did was just 🤤🥰😍 and I can't stop thinking about it day later
Have you ever seen Oshi no Ko? I'd love to see Bodyguard react to someone trying to do something similar as what happened to Ai.
Fans get wind their beloved idol might have feeling for her staff, so a crazed fan tracks down her private address. He plans to get revenge for "His idol cheating on him" but doesn't know there is a guard dog inside ready to bite any threat to his precious charge.
Sorry to keep ragging on about the topic, I just adore you work enough that it lives in my head rent free.
Happy holidays
-🌟
I sadly haven't seen Oshi no Ko, but your description sounds very interesting. Thank you for the idea! I've combined it with your previous suggestion, I think they work together really well. Happy Holidays to you, too! :)
Yandere!Bodyguard x Idol!Reader (II)
Your new manager has sent you home for the holidays after persistent rumors surrounding you and your bodyguard. And, as luck would have it, the fan responsible for the accusations successfully sneaks his way in. Sadly for him, you’ve never left the watchful gaze of your loyal, mean dog.

"Enjoy your holidays!"
The driver cheerfully bids you goodbye and speeds away, leaving you behind the imposing gate. You drag your luggage inside and nonchalantly toss it with an annoyed huff.
What now? You're all alone in a hollow mansion.
Early December you begun receiving worrying letters from a fan, making wild claims about you and your bodyguard. Naturally, you laughed it off. Your bodyguard found them equally amusing. So much, that he'd ask you to read them out loud as you rode him. "I w-won't stand for it. You know we ha-ave something special going on, (Y/N)-chan." You barely managed to form coherent sentences, feverishly clinging to the large man underneath you. "You heard the guy. Better be on your best behavior", he'd add with a chuckle, wiping the drool from your mouth.
The new manager, however, wasn't as relaxed about it. He couldn't risk tarnishing the reputation of his beloved cash cow, so he suggested you take a break from personal assistants until the rumors tone down. If you remained within your expensively secured house, you wouldn't need any guarding. So, he caringly prescribed a dose of homely isolation for the upcoming holidays.
"Don't be so dramatic", he said, "Jesus spent 40 days in the desert by himself. And he didn't have your indoor cinema or jacuzzi bathtub."
"Yeah, but he had the Devil to tempt him. Where's my bad guy?" You whined as a retort.
You let out another groan and throw yourself on the couch, fiddling with the remote. Kind of them to decorate everything for Christmas, you think as you eye the gigantic kitsch of a tree slapped in the middle of the living room.
Fuck. What an absolute waste of time. All because of one crazy fan. You almost wish he'd show his stupid face so your bodyguard could pummel it to bits and crumbles. You wonder what he's doing by himself. Is he going to be assigned to another idol? Probably not, two weeks is too short of a time for anything. You check your phone.
Suddenly, the screen lights up. A text notification.
"Bored?"
Heh. It's almost as if he can read your mind. You smile to yourself and type your response, stretching onto the sofa. Your little back and forth messaging goes on until you look up and notice the room has gotten darker. Already evening. You can hear your stomach growl, so you get up and drag your feet towards the kitchen, searching for takeaway fliers. If you're going to be under house arrest, the least you can afford is junk food.
Once you place your decadent order, you hop onto the counter and idly dangle your legs in anticipation. Your favorite off-duty guard dog has abruptly told you he needs to go and is now offline. "Something came up". What could possibly require his immediate attention? A mistress? You giggle at the idea. In all your time spent together, you haven't seen him glance at a single woman. If he must, he will engage with other people using one-word replies, visibly uninterested. You never considered him much of a talker, but his behavior with anyone else, in comparison, is downright hostile.
There's a rustling sound and you jolt. Was the food delivered already? It hasn't been that long. You jump off the marble countertop and freeze in place once you see the man standing in the doorway. His face is concealed with a medical mask and he's audibly panting, the hot air fogging up his glasses. You notice the knife in his hand.
"How rude of you to cheat on me so shamelessly, (Y/N) dear."
Huh? Your eyes widen in realization. Was this the crazed fan bombarding you with threatening letters? Your features twist in utter disgust, still transfixed on the weapon within his grip.
This little shit. Not only does he break into your home, but he decides to intimidate you with a department store kitchen utensil. Is that all you're worth? Is that any way to greet one of the top idols in this country?
You angrily pull the nearby drawer open and grab a long, sharp blade. The man tenses up and steps forward, but you stop him in his tracks, throwing the item at his feet. He stares at you, bewildered.
"It's a Yoshihiro Sashimi knife. More than your monthly income, most likely." You state as you leer down at him, grimace plastered on your face. "Pick it up like the animal you are."
He cannot move. Is this his beloved (Y/N)? Her pretty, innocent smile and sparkling eyes have been replaced by this hateful scowl. He feels like a cockroach about to be stepped on, a mere vermin invading her personal space. This can't be right. It's him that should be upset, he's the betrayed party. When has she gotten so...Ah. This must be the work of that bodyguard. He's always known. The way he looks at her, with a predatory glint as if marking his territory. He should've noticed earlier. Poor, sweet (Y/N), at the hands of a brute. Tears form in his eyes and he opens his mouth to speak up, but a burning blow assaults his back and everything goes black.
Your bodyguard casually walks in and lifts the intruder up by the nape of his neck.
"Are you okay? Did he touch you?"
You blush and wipe your eyelashes dramatically, releasing a gentle sob from your puckered lips.
"Touch? He almost killed me! I was so scared...I thought I was done for."
He frowns at your words.
"I'll take care of it."
You can feel the familiar knot forming in your stomach. As he drags the body out of the kitchen, you follow behind enthusiastically.
"Do it in the living room!" You almost squeal.
"Are you sure? It will get messy. I'm not letting this one walk out." He warns you with a worried expression.
"Yes, yes!" you nod, all bubbly. "Right here, next to the Christmas tree."
Once the gory spectacle is over, the bodyguard sprawls onto the sofa, exhausted. He exhales loudly and runs a hand through his hair. You are about to join him, when a thought crosses your mind.
"Now that I think about it, how did you know I was about to be attacked? That was some really extraordinary timing."
Out of reflex, he palms his pocket to check if his phone is still within his possession. Thankfully he hasn't left it in plain sight. You squint suspiciously.
"Are you spying on me or something?"
He remains quiet for a few moments and eventually lowers his head apologetically, avoiding eye contact.
"Forgive me, Miss."
When he glances up again, your small figure is looming over him.
"Wow, what a pervert you are." You push his chin up with your dainty fingers. "How will you make it up to me for such nasty habit~?"
"Is there anything you want me to do?"
"Good boy."

A/n: I've been getting a lot of smut yandere Aqua. I don't know what to feel about it but I have had this in my drafts for awhile so here is some Fluff Aqua.
Fandom: Oshi No Ko
Character(s): Aquamarine Hoshino
Warning(s):
Readers Gender: Gn
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You and Aqua had been planning this night for awhile now. You two have been dating for a year and the night you two confessed so the both of you had just wanted to have that night together.
You had just got done getting ready leaving your home to rush to the place where you and Aqua had agreed to meet. After a couple of minutes you made it to a nice little cafe where you saw Aqua inside.
You went inside and went over to Aqua placing a kiss on his cheek. "I hope I didn't keep you waiting for long" "Oh no don't worry". You had sat down and Aqua started to speak up, "You look very nice today" "Thank you but you look way better than me". You said smiling as Aqua's face became flushed and you just continued to talk till you both ordered.
As you both waited for your orders you asked Aqua about Ruby and where and how she is. "She is just at home and she has been fine still her happy self" "That's good to hear and you how have you've been". But before Aqua could answer your orders came and Aqua just started to talk about other things. You both hung around the cafe for awhile till you both wanted to walk around for a bit just to end the date off with the relaxing vide outside.
Once you got outside you had asked Aqua your question again, "So how have you been?" "It's been nice actually even working nowadays it doesn't seem so stressful" "You know if you ever need to talk to someone I'm there and I just want you to know that". Aqua smiled at your remark as he stopped making you stop as well, "Aqua, Is everything alright".
You said only to be pulled in a hug, Aqua's arms were wrapped around you, he held you tight as you are one of the most precious things to him, he is afraid once he lets go you will be taken away from him. You hugged Aqua back and when you both looked at each other you both had a nice passionate kiss.
The date from there was nice as you both held hands as you guys went to different places while also trying to avoid fans. You and Aqua had taken pictures, got more snacks, and did some more fun things but it was time for the both of you to head home.
Aqua had taken you home as now Aqua stood in front of your door as you were on the other side. "I had a fun day today" "Glad you did Aqua" "I'm so happy to have some like you to call my partner" "Well I was the one to confess first. But thank you for being the person I fell in love with". Before Aqua went back home you two shared another kiss as you both said your good byes and hoped to see each other tomorrow.

All the Feelings
Yep. So manga didn't end how I wanted or anticipated, it's okay. Lesson learned lol. I will learn to live in fanon in my head lmao, it's an important life skill imo. I've never cared this much about a story, felt so much love for a story, I used to never even care how stories ended. MHA made me care about the stories I consume being good, actually. So I'm grateful, and MHA is good imo. I will just hold resentment for the last 15 chapters and pretend it ended differently lol.
That being said, I have no regrets. The impact this manga and fandom has had on my life is crazy. I've met solid online friends that have stuck around for years (wtf!) and I've met irl friends.
Like...2.5 years ago a group of online friends and I started a server. That server has been going strong ever since, it became a fun space for all of us to be goofy, be serious, vulnerable, whatever we needed at the time. And I'm so thankful! @mettywiththenotes @jecook @helga-grinduil @redphlox @transhawks @chocolate-biscuit @bootlickerhawks have been the best group to finish out this manga with. I can't wait to keep talking about all the manga to come in the future for us to gush over!
Julie (redphlox) and I met when we lived near each other in 2021 and have been super close friends ever since. Crossing state lines to visit each other, taking trips together, sleep overs, all the things. Best thing to come from this manga for me, life long friendships are precious.
@hamliet I've loved talking with you and Julie over the past couple of years! It's added so much to my life and I look forward to visiting in Boston one day. And squealing over Oshi no Ko in the near future.
Metty and Anya (helga-grinduil) sharing the Tomura and Izuku love with me until the very end. Metty and Cami (bootlickerhawks) having the best meme game, Hazel (jecook) and Cho (choco biscuit) having hilarious senses of humor and making everyone laugh.
Rani (transhawks), your humor is unmatched and your life perspective is always fun to hear. Watching Drops of God and Kids on the Slope together for weeks in a row is a core memory for me. Julie and I will see you in New York one day soon <3.

An analysis of Aqua Hoshino's character and drive & his feelings towards kana
**oshi no ko spoilers**
I'd been following onk time to time, but I def decided to pick it back up after having read aqua's feelings towards kana was confirmed in the recent chapters.
I was all like YES!! Finally!! About time!! because I thought that was something really obvious throughout this piece. I never saw it any other way. (This is my personal take, no offense on anyone who's thought otherwise!!) I wouldn't say I was entirely satisfied with all the things that happened in between..things were a bit messy. I still felt his character was always very consistent, however.
I wrote my thoughts about him, like one I did with Ai sometime back in May. so this analysis doesn't reflect the new stuff that's came after that.. but I still think a lot of what I've written here still stands. This is how I personally interpret the character and the stuff that's been going on in his heart. I think he's the most well-written character in this series along with Ai.. I was impressed about it when I first got into this series, I hope that will remain until the end
*this was originally written in a different language. It's machine-translated+ edited a little to make more sense
I've heard some spoilers about the development of onk, and I feel I did a pretty job with bringing Aqua's character right in my fan comics of him! It was all on point. I wrote a lot of analysis about Aqua's psychology but it's all gone, I wish some of it were left... Aqua's love for Kana is something that's been hinted at a lot, and I don't think there's much room to believe otherwise. I think it's pretty obvious that he's been in love with Kana the whole time. He'd been acting the way he is because the character is very mentally cornered and in self-doubt that he doesn't deserve to find happiness. In turn, he represses his feelings, but when he becomes a little cheerful, you see him turning his attention to Kana, and when he sees Kana, he's revitalized. If you follow Aqua's feelings, it's very natural that it comes out like this, he has a crush on Kana. I'm proud that I recognized that in the latest development, I'm proud that I recognized it properly. I'm so proud. But there was a lot of plot device and all leading up to it, so…I think it was in vol 10? When he thought he didn't have to take revenge, Aqua smiled relaxedly as if he had been saved for a while and dated Kana, so I think the reason he's trying to take revenge is because of his guilt over Ai rather than it being its true wants. He hates himself for having been unable to save the ones he's cared for, and he's so miserable and tormented that he doesn't care what happens to him. The funny thing is that even though he can't tolerate himself being happy, he's happy when he sees Kana. He feels both good and troubled because he can't help having her brightening his mood up again. He didn't have the heart to fully enjoy those feelings, but as soon as he thought there was no need to revenge, he straight makes a move on kana. The reason why Aqua dived back to continue his vengeance is because he realized that the person he was to revenge was still alive and well.
In fact, revenge is a way for Aqua to inflict sufferings to himself. If you look at his psychology, he doesn't enjoy revenge, but rather wants to be comfortable, and he was mentally exhausted to the point where he thought he would die after he finished her revenge (that's how his vows to revenge acted as his reason to continue living for awhile), but when he met someone he liked (Kana) or someone who cared for him(Akane), aqua starts to realize that he has more to live for. There's also Ruby, the precious child he once wanted to protect in his past life but couldn't. At this point, if Aqua goes through with his revenge, he might actually make himself even more unhappy, because he's going to make all those precious people around him suffer with him if he does. He can't just throw himself away now because seeing them makes him want to live a little longer, wish to be happy.
I think the major deal here would have to do with how the "revenge" will be brought out. That is something that's brought in as the main conflict element of the work. Ai's death is the most powerful event in the story, as it's the trigger, and it has a very strong grip on the characters, and it needs to have a strong grip on the story. I don't think any of the readers would want to see it fizzle out.
However, Aqua… I think he's a well-described character. This guy hasn't changed at all. Heck, he's not even that tough. He's not that relentless or decisive, so I'm not sure if he's really going to cut it for the revenge, and I don't think revenge will make him so happy (That's why I think Kana is the one who should take him. I'm not saying they have to be together, but I'd be happy if they end up walking in the same direction in the future. The reason why I support Aqukana is because they have mutual feelings towards each other and they're happy to be together. I think it would be nice to see that happen, but let's see how things'll play out..) I believe the method aqua COULD work with is to give the person he's revenging more trauma than he's experienced himself, and I think that can happen from conveying Ai's true feelings to the said character. Aqua seems to be aiming for that.
One of the keywords of this work is "lie", but the work seems to imply that there is some sincerity in the lies. Ai says that her lies were also love, and I wonder if something about that will come out again?
Anyway, it seems that the Ai's sincerity was not properly conveyed to the person Aqua wants to get revenge on. When told to them in hindsight, it must be something that can shock them in some way, and it seems that Ai herself wanted for it get across too. That's why Aqua wants to create the movie. I feel it's the right direction for him to do so as well, for it'll be passing on Ai's will.
+ Below are some more thoughts about Aqua's psyche.
Aqua is a character that deserves to be psychoanalyzed. I listened to Mephisto again after a long time, and I think the song really captures the character's psychology. I think the deepest core of Aqua's character is that he can't forgive herself for things that he's not really responsible for, and he punishes herself for that, and that punishment manifests itself in the form of not being able to allow himself to be happy, giving up and letting go to extreme extents. He does not value himself.
I think this is an attitude that is carried over from the character's previous life, and I think the death of his mother during his birth weighed heavily on him. He originally wanted to be a surgeon, but he switched to obstetrics and gynecology, and this was the beginning of his struggle. It appears like he was living a somewhat cheerful life up to this point, but that wasn't all, the guilt that he caused his mother's death was always there. Because before dying and being reincarnated, he mentioned something like "I thought that people like me would fall to hell"<. This was in episode 1, so I wondered just what's made him feel that way. If you review the whole story so far, that's about the only reason I feel could explain him downplay himself like that. He was a doctor. He had a life where he tried a lot and achieved something, being murdered and had it all reaped away, he doesn't seem to be so resentful and angry about this. The last thing he thinks is that he should be next to Ai and watch her over well as a doctor. I don't think this is because he has no attachment to his former life, rather, it's probably because he never placed a lot of value on himself., He didn't have a painful life like Ruby did, and he was a really kind and good person his previous life, so it's not like he needs to be so condescending about himself but he's like that.
This attitude of his continues, and Aqua is a bit obsessive about protecting other people's lives because he thinks he's taken someone else's life just by being born. It only worsens after he fails to save a patient he cared about, and his idol, his mother in this life, dies in front of his eyes. Even though he became a doctor and learned medical knowledge to save someone, in the former case, it wasn't a patient she could save, and in the latter case, he was young to do something and with Ai being critically injured, there was nothing that could be done.
The compulsion that was already there could only intensify, and with the death of Ai, I think this character completely lets go of his reason to live, because he hates himself for being so helpless. I think it's easier for him to take all the blame for the situation (even though it's all external factor, and he's not responsible for it) and take all the resentment and sadness for the situation on himself. If you look closely, you can see that even though he says he's going to kill the person who killed his child, he's not really interested in the person himself: what does he look like, how is he living, does he have a family, what is his psychology, why did he kill Ai, etc. If you look at the lyrics of Mephisto, it's like, "I don't care what happens to me as long as you survive," which is very self-loathing. Aqua is in a very precarious state, and he's very depressed. He tries to convince himself that finding and avenging the one responsible for Ai's murder is his sole purpose to live. He can't allow herself to be happy, because his mindset goes: "Ai's suffered such misery, and I dare be happy and live a normal life? No can do, I couldn't protect her, I don't deserve that". <This thought acts as punishment to his unforgivable self, and it prevents him from fully enjoying other things and living in peace.
There are two main ways that this character can make himself feel better: first, in terms of his own behavior, he seems to feel better by helping others. Even though his behavior keeps hurting the girls' feelings, Aqua is a character who likes to help others. He's good at supporting others, and he's often seen smiling behind their backs after having done so. I think the fact that he felt saved when he realized Ruby was the patient he cared about is an extension of this, and it fits his personality to believe it's enough for him to see the girl he couldn't save is living happily If other people are happy, he's happy. That's his core personality.
The other would be to find something to like and love, which, unlike the act of helping others earlier, is not something Aqua does on purpose, but something he came to naturally find in his new life. And it was Kana who gave this to Aqua.
This is why Aqua likes Kana but keeps her at a distance. He's not supposed to be happy, but whenever he thinks, "I want to be happy…" Aqua sees Kana. Spending time with Kana makes Aqua happy. When he think of happy memories, Kana fills him up. She makes him smile, laugh, and relax. He seems to like people like Kana, and he never gets tired of watching her, just as he enjoyed watching her as a fan. 'I'm going to die, I'm not going to be happy, and she's a celebrity now, and being close to me is scandalous, and there's nothing good about being close to me, and I'm in the dark (laughs), and I'm going to lose my humanity and become a vengeance demon, and she's going to be unhappy with me'. He tries to convince himself he's no good, but he still ends up hanging with her because, well, he likes her and it happens. And then he pushes Kana away, because he thinks there are reasons why him and Kana wouldn't work out. He thinks it's bad for her. This leads Kana to think Aqua doesn't have feelings for her, but she still likes him through all that;;; and it's been like that the whole time. That's why they made so little progress while they have mutual feelings towards one another. Aqua needs to forgive himself first before anything, but on his path of revenge due to him being unable to do that, he's done even more unforgivable things that he thinks are unforgivable, he's really screwed up now. He's put himself in a really tough spot.
The fact that someone who's not that compatible with revenge and whose personality is kind in essence is trying to force it (this ties in with Aqua's characterization two paragraphs above, that he likes to help others. Aqua thinks that he was unable to do anything for Ai, so he can't give up her revenge because he thinks going through with it is for Ai's sake), he wavers, and even though he seems to be calm, he keeps hesitating and stumbling. And while doing so, he's hurt the people around him over and over, making him feel self-deprecating and self-hating. That's a really bad cycle. Aqua actually cares a lot about the people around him. If Akane, Ruby, Kana, or the couple who raised him are in danger, he'll hold off on revenge AGAIN. But he can't give up on revenge either. As long as he thinks about Ai, he won't give up.
The only way for Aqua to be truly happy is to live with people who love him. But he also has to make sure that he's done the right thing for Ai, and I think the key is to really understand what she wanted. If she actually fully embraced the person who murdered her… I think that'd be cruel. I don't think it should be so. Idols are people, too. They shouldn't have to accept everything. Should they refuse to hate and resent others even though they died so unjustly? I don't think the manga will go that way, and I think while Ai always smiled, she had some darkness in her heart. So I'm not sure how this will be resolved at this stage, but that's that.
In this piece, Kana is the one who makes Aqua smile at the moment. So it seems like going in that direction would be happiness for this character, but in order for Aqua to get there, he needs to tie the knot with Ai and stop hating himself. I don't know how that's going to happen, but if this comic is going to have a happy ending, it's going to happen. I don't know how it'd get there, but I don't think this comic is going to have an unhappy ending for Aqua at all. I don't think it's going to end in tragedy. That is all!

Oshi no Ko Chapter 161 Thoughts
I guess we're in the endgame now.
Since last chapter I've been worried that Hikaru's remorse after watching Ai's DVD was all an act but thankfully that's not the case. He was crushed after learning that Ai loved him and so the twins still delivered a revenge worse than death
But regarding Hikaru's motives, what of his words in ch 154?
Tumblr media
Does he or does he not understand that Ai was an ordinary girl? Trying to ensure that Ai remains unparalleled is clearly forcing a selfish fantasy on her
I can extrapolate that the guilt stemming from her death created an all consuming need to preserve her memory and a desperation to do anything he could for her, so he decided to elevate Ai of B Komachi while ignoring what Ai Hoshino would have wanted
I just don't see how a supposedly smart guy would think that the best thing he could do for the love of his life was to kill her precious daughter
Hikaru was accused of manipulating Nino but this has Nino written all over it. Maybe she hypnotized him
Hikaru is a conundrum and speculating is getting me nowhere
Now on to the main event. Aqua is trying to give his dad a run for his money with poorly thought out plans
Why have a strategy meeting about how to protect Ruby with all the smart, capable people in your life when you can stab yourself?
Miyako is going to kill him twice for this
But Aqua reaching this point hits hard. Because despite throwing his life away, he's finally thinking about the future. He has hopes and dreams. He wants to call Miyako his mom. LOOK AT THIS PANEL. I'm sobbing. God, he better call Ai "mom" too
Tumblr media
Aqua isn't trying to murder Hikaru out of guilt and revenge but rather for Ruby's future. And uhhh... ok, I have mixed feelings about this reframing of his suicidal tendencies
But it is growth and an Aqua who wants to live is better than one who doesn't, even if the end result is the same
Aqua stabbing himself in the same place as his mom with the same look on his face and the same sweat drops while creating a lie stemming from love is too much
Tumblr media
I am no longer asking for a spinoff manga where nothing bad ever happens. I am begging on bended knee
Kudos to Mephisto for foreshadowing this
A certain group of shippers want to say that Ruby is the most important person to Aqua because he's sacrificing himself for her and I just want to point out that while of course Ruby is his treasured sister, Aqua thought of Miyako, Kana, Akane, Mem, and Taiki in this chapter. Aqua's love is not finite. We're not dividing up a pie here. No girl has "won" his love over another, okay? There are different kinds of love
Now if only Aqua could truly recognize just how loved he is
Will Aqua die? I've always said that no main character besides possibly Kamiki would die because while Ai's death was a senseless tragedy, she died with a smile on her face. She died knowing she loved her children and having achieved her lifelong dream to love
I never felt Oshi no Ko was a tragedy but rather that it has dark, tragic elements. But I've stopped trying to predict things
Next week: I can't even muster up my usual cheesy jokes. Just please live, Aqua. I don't care if Crow Girl swoops out of the sky riding a dragon called Deus Ex Machina to pluck him out of the sea or Hikaru turns out to be a war medic who can stitch him up, he just can't die.

【OSHI NO KO】 Season 2 Episode 17
I meant to post on Melt's development when I was rereading the manga (I'm not sure if it's because OnK chapters are short or it's an easy read but I've already read the whole manga twice already ) but I don't want to spoil anime-only fans. I was sure it would be animated and I was very hopeful of the Tokyo Blade arc animation ever since the 1st episode and based on the feedback, episode 17 did not disappoint! 😊
Tumblr media
This panel is not part of episode 17 but I really love how Melt is so comfortable with Kana that he could just drag her like that 😅 (In an alternate universe, I hope these teenagers were just living normally as teenagers. Bickering, fighting over love interests, then having a picnic together after a long day 🤣)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The opening theme for Tokyo Blade is such an earworm! Also, I know that this is about Melt but since it showed again this Tokyo Blade introduction of characters, Touki in the manga is much more handsome than Aqua I mean would you look at Touki?!
Tumblr media
ARIMA KANA! She's so good at what she's doing. She's so precious I love her so much. 😻Also, this part was sodetailed you can hear the harness as Kana flies to the ground what a production ♥

It's not as elaborate in the episode but look how worn out Melt's wooden sword is. He really worked hard to improve. Also, in the previous episode, he's one of the cast who goes home late because he rehearses by himself. Oh Melt, you hardworking you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These mangacaps has been on my files for months already because I was really waiting for Melt's story to be shown to the world. Also, it's brave for Akasaka-sensei to show that anyone can be taken advantage of, regardless of the gender, regardless of age. What a cruel world.
Tumblr media
This performance sparked so many things for all the actors involved that we still get to see bits of it every now and then. 🥰
Tumblr media
The justice the animation gave to this panel oh my gosh it was so good!!! The manga arc is good but the anime brings it to a whole new different level! ♥
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love how the animation had slight differences from the manga. Everyone was really watching Melt's performance, including Kana and Aqua. and Melt did not disappoint. (I am out of words I mean this is Melt we are talking about, that Melt who delivered his lines awkwardly that Miyako had to shut down the laptop because they can't bear to watch the episode. And now we see that Melt who worked hard to deserve his spot in this entertainment industry. Who would not be proud of that?!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This line here was a flashback from season 1 Episode 4 where Aqua told Melt that acting is all about putting your emotions into it. What a bizarre advice from someone who rekindles his trauma when he's doing emotional acting. If Aqua was using his emotions in I'll Go With Sweet Today, I wonder why he haven't had his panic attack? Sure Kana was not there to tell him "Aqua-kun, what would you do if your mother died?" but he's playing a stalker, someone similar to what really killed Ai, a scene so close to a real-life scenario...so why? It's curious...
The feedbacks and posts of people who watched this episode were true. This episode was really good! ♥

A3! Main Story: Part 4 - Epilogue: New color stage! - What Happens Now
Tumblr media
momo has entered the chat momo: manpany made it to the nominations for the fleur award!! Kar: congrats momo: i’m so happy i can’t stop crying! my oshis are so precious! please last forever! shiki: it kept us on our toes till the end, but thank god Iv: we’ve got more manpany fans here? momo: you and Kar are fans too! Kar: lame Iv: well, congrats on the nom shiki: next is our turn momo: i’ll do my best now that i’m all fired up! momo: oh. that reminds me i tried challenging sth new. i’ll keep u guys updated
-
Tsuzuru: So, what did you want me to see?
Towa: Th-This!!
Tsuzuru: … A script?
Towa: After watching your plays and reading your script, I just couldn’t sit still…
Towa: I felt like I had to make something myself too, so I wrote a script!
Towa: This is my first time, so it’s probably not good, but I figured that the best way to learn how to do anything involving acting is to do it yourself.
Towa: Um, if you’d like to, at some point when you’re super bored, you could give me some advice…
Tsuzuru: Nah, it’s no problem. I can read it now.
Towa: Really!?
Tsuzuru: That part of you that just jumps right into doing things is amazing. I was kinda slow to start out, so I honestly respect you.
Towa: Thank you so much!!
-
Tsuzuru: I see…
Tsuzuru: (Hmmm… He is still a high schooler, but this isn’t exactly a script… Or, rather, he needs to start from the basics…)
Towa: How was it!?
Tsuzuru: Uhhh…
Tsuzuru: (What do I even say in this situation… Up until now I’ve always been the one receiving people’s opinions, not the other way around…)
Tsuzuru: (But since he came to me to get better, I should just tell him what I really think…
Tsuzuru: Your idea and what you want to do are pretty much conveyed, and I do think it seems fun. But… You can’t use this as a script.
Tsuzuru: I’ll lend you my scriptwriting how-to books, so I think you should study the basics and give it another try.
Towa: The basics… I got it! I’ll do my best!
Tsuzuru: But why scriptwriting?
Towa: I wanted to find more things I could do myself so that KICS can keep going for a long time.
Towa: If we’ve got the script, then all we’ll need to do will be to find somewhere to act…
Tsuzuru: I see. The way you earnestly give it your all is one of your good points, so I think you’ll be fine if you learn scriptwriting from ground zero the same way you learned acting.
Tsuzuru: There are scriptwriting workshops too, and if there’s anything I can help you with, I will.
Towa: Thank you so much! I’ll read the book and learn everything from the beginning!
Towa: Um… Once I rewrite it, will you read it again?
Tsuzuru: Of course. I’ll be looking forward to it.
-
Yukio: — Okay, this is good. Let’s take a thirty-minute break.
Banri: I brought water.
Yukio: Thank you. Make sure to stay hydrated, everyone.
Kureha: Thank you very much, Banri-san.
Ibuki: I’m paaaarched.
Keiku: You got anything sweet?
Banri: Make do with water.
Towa: Oh yeah, I’ve got something to tell you guys.
Ibuki: You did mention something like that in BlooCha.
Kureha: You said you started out something new?
Towa: From now on, I’ll be challenging myself with scriptwriting!
Keiku: Woah.
Towa: Tsuzuru-san gave the script I wrote a read, and it wasn’t good at all yet. But I’ll do my best starting with the basics so that I’ll be able to write KICS’s scripts one day!
Kureha: That’s amazing. Good luck!
Ibuki: Why not? It’d be easier if we could make them ourselves anyways.
Yukio: I’d say it’s good for a troupe to have a designated scriptwriter since it allows your troupe to develop its own style. Work hard.
Banri: Still. Didn’t think you’d be tryin’ out scriptwriting, Towa.
Keiku: Right, it’s unexpected.
[Door opening]
Izumi: Hello.
Yuki: Good work.

Oshi no Ko 150: Mistranslation or Miscommunication?
Something I was surprised to see in the aftermath of OnK 150 were accusations from the English fanbase that the chapter had been mistranslated or that the content of it had been misrepresented somehow. I fully admit that I was extremely skeptical of this assertion when I first saw it crop up given but MangaPlus's translations do have an unfortunate habit of flubbing minor details in places that do lead to pretty major cascading errors with the English script. It's possible it could have happened, especially in a chapter operating on dream logic as this one does, so I decided to take a look at the JP text myself and see if this was the case. And what I took away was… no, the English translation is more or less fine. A bit stiff but nothing has been lost or changed from the original text. But since there seems to be a lot of misinfo on this topic going around and I have nothing better to do on a Friday morning I guess, I thought I'd do my best to clear some of it up.
First of all: credentials, I guess? I'm the translator of 45510 and Viewpoint B and I was also part of the team working on Spica, The First Star where I contributed translation efforts as well. Basically I just want to assure folks that I'm not pulling this stuff out of my ass lol
Also apologies that some of these caps from the manga are fucking shmeared with Vaseline, tracking down the JP raws in decent quality was a fucking nightmare this time around for some reason. Anyway!
Black Eyes
The first major point of confusion seems to surround a line from Gorou at the start of page seven, while warning Aqua off from 'Sarina'.
「俺の目が黒い内はさりなちゃんに手ぇ出させねえ からな?」
Tumblr media
In initial TLs, this line was translated literally and rendered as "You're not allowed to touch Sarina while your eyes are black!" which immediately caused a flurry of speculation among fans that this was a lore drop, meant to indicate that Aqua was 'not allowed' to be in a relationship with Ruby so long as he had his black hoshigans on - and thus, pursuing a relationship with her would restore them to white. When this line was rendered as "I won't let you make a move on Sarina-chan for as long as I live!" in the official TL, a lot of people assumed this was a mistake or an active omission on the part of MangaPlus. I regret to inform everyone that there was a mistranslation here… but uh, it wasn't MangaPlus!
First of all, Gorou is referring to his own eyes, not Aqua's - and furthermore, he's actually using a euphemistic idiom in the vein of 'over my dead body' or 'when hell freezes over'. There is a bit of missing subtext here in that Gorou is specifically expressing a sort of paternalistic expression and the obvious visual pun of Aqua's black hoshigans but MangaPlus's line gets at what Gorou is actually saying here. So no, unless Akasaka is playing a Ryukishi07 Umineko tier wordplay foreshadowing trick on us, I think we can take this at face value as just a brief gag.
'Good Enough'?
Another point of contention from this same page is a seemingly minor note of potential ambiguity with regards to Aqua's feelings for Ruby. When discussing their relationship at Gorou's prompting, Aqua states that Ruby is 'his precious little sister' with the following phrasing:
「世界でたった一人の大切な妹。それだけで良い。」
Tumblr media
MangaPlus renders the 「それだけで良い。」 part of this line as "That's all that matters". Pretty much since the moment this chapter dropped, I've seen people insist that this is a mistranslation and that initial pre-official TLs of "That's good enough for me" are more accurate - that there is some sense of 'settling' or resignation on Aqua's part, that he does want to be with Ruby but he'll settle for being her brother and that the official TL erases this nuance.
My take on this is… eh. That's kind of a stretch.
Obviously, context is everything but if that sense of 'settling for good enough' is what Akasaka was wanting to convey, 「それだけで良い。」 feels off to me - I would say that 「それ十分だ。」 would be a much more natural choice of words and in fact, we already have at least once instance of this phrasing being used in OnK to express a similar sentiment and being rendered similarly in official TLs as "That by itself is enough."
When it comes to 「それだけで良い。」, "that's good enough" is a perfectly fine TL for it… but so is "that's all that matters", honestly! Depending on context, anything from "That's all there is to it", "That's plenty by itself", "That's all I want" or even "Just that is enough" are all perfectly fine ways to render this idea in English and I don't think the official TL is missing any nuance not suggested by the art. If I can be frank, this attachment to the 'good enough' phrasing in the English seems to come from this being the wording that was initially used by leakers and that it is just slightly more favorable to Ruby in terms of potential to be an endgame heroine.
The Japanese text is just as favorable or unfavorable to Ruby as the official TL is and any ambiguities in that regard exist in both versions of the text. Do with that as you will.
Tensing Up
This is moreso something I've see on Twitter as opposed to the sub but I thought it was worth addressing: when discussing Aqua's supposed feelings for Kana, Gorou phrases it as such:
「星野アクアとして、思春期らしい年相応の恋愛感情を抱えていた。」
Tumblr media
MangaPlus translates this as "As Aqua Hoshino, you have romantic feelings that are appropriate to your age as an adolescent." This is pretty much exactly as he phrases things in Japanese (i.e, he specifically says 恋愛感情 renai kanjou, romantic feelings not just vaguely defined 'love'), but the point of contention sees to be whether this is still the case and that Gorou was specifically talking in the past tense about something that is no longer the case.
This is actually the opposite of what Gorou is saying here: in the part of the sentence that refers to Aqua having these feelings, Gorou uses the phrasing of 抱えていた, which indicates that this state or action is present tense and ongoing.
If I can speculate, this insistence on past tense phrasing seems to come from the fact that feeding Gorou's original line into MTLs such as Google Translate or DeepL returns this past tense phrasing… oops lol.
Bits and Bobs
Just some smaller bits of confusion I've seen floating around that didn't really warrant their own sections…
There seems to be this weird misinfo scrap going around that Aqua switches to referring to himself as 「僕」 (boku) as his first person pronoun after waking from his dream as opposed to 「俺」 (ore), which is what he'd been using in his dream and what Gorou had been using too - thus implying that 「僕」 (boku) is Aqua's 'true self' with no Gorou influence. This… uh, is flatly not the case! Putting aside that Aqua doesn't say anything at all after waking up, (I FUCKED UP, YES HE DOES SAY SOMETHING AND DOES SWITCH TO BOKU, I'M SORRYYYYYYYY) codeswitching between 'boku' and 'ore' as a first person pronoun is not super uncommon and is more to do with context and politeness than anything else - 'boku' is more polite and more appropriate for formal environments whereas 'ore' is always informal. You might switch back and forth between the two depending on who you're talking to - busting out an 'ore' at work would be like going "hey boss, ya boy just finished those financial reports, bitch" so…!
In addition, Aqua has used 'boku' before when distinguishing between "the reincarnator" and "the identity of Aqua Hoshino", so until we see the next chapter and get more Aqua dialogue, I don't know to what degree (if any!) it indicates about pronoun usage differentiating between Gorou and Aqua.
The other bit of discussion I've seen as pertains to the translation is whether Kana's line in the final page - translated by MangaPlus as 'I'm seriously in love' - was a reference to LoveNow's title or if she used the word 'gachikoi' there in Japanese as Ruby does in 143. The answer to both of those is a resounding 'nope'. Kana's line in that final page is 「私は本気の恋をしている。」, while LoveNow's Japanese title is 「今からガチ恋始めます」. Specifically, Kana describes her feelings as 本気の恋 (honki no koi), i.e, seriously, earnestly, truly in love, whereas both LoveNow and Ruby use the term ガチ恋 (gachikoi), a slang term referring to a fan who considers themselves to be legitimately in romantic love with a celebrity/idol/etc. Gachikoi is also how the first generation of B-Komachi are described in both Viewpoint B and 45510 in the original Japanese text.
Shakers of Salt
This is pretty much everything I saw floating around and I am not personally super interested in litigating every line of text in this chapter, BUT - if there's anything you feel was confusing about this chapter's TL in particular or anything that felt off or crunchy, I'd be happy to clarify stuff in the comments!
Ultimately my motivation here was to sooth the itch triggered by seeing my pet peeve pop up, which is people spreading misinfo about the original language text of a work lol. As I said up top, I was immediately skeptical once claims like this started popping up because "actually, this was mistranslated and the original Japanese text just so happens to word for word support my argument actually" is a song and dance I've done a whole lot of times before. I did my time in the Persona fandom, I'm not going back to this!!!
That being said: absolutely fact check me on this! If any of this smells stinky to you, get a second, third and fourth opinion from other parties, do your own research and come to your own conclusions. "People in fandoms will misrepresent the original language text of a work to support their agendas" is not something I am exempt from just because I have done my own translations and the last thing I want is to inadvertently perpetuate bullshit about a language or culture that is not mine. If you take anything from this, it's to do your own research and ultimately see where you come down on this sort of thing.

r u taking requests rn ?? if so, can i request mika kagehira x gender neutral artist (by that, i mean drawing) idol reader ?? thanks :3
Mika Kagehira x gn artist reader
Tumblr media
Au: I'm back y'all. I'll try to finish all the requests since I just finish my finals👍😀
• Since your're an artist, all the outfits and decorations were designed by you.
• Thats what caught Valkyrie's attention but it was first Mika that found out about a new idol group in ES.
• He did some research about you idol group(he was just scouting his competitors lmao)
• Of course as the artist he is, your artistic outfits and backgrounds interested him.
• he also heard about you around the ES building. And asked nastume to send you an anonymous texts to meet up with him😭
• Your first meetings is kinda awkward but bear with him!😭 He's still learning how to be human
"hehhee mry name is Mika wut bout yur?"
You kinda looked at him with a blank face "...what?😀.." he's just soo nervous from interacting with someone new that he can't stop stuttering.(he's so precious💕)
• As artists and having the same interests, y'all get along quickly. He would talk about sewing techniques and how you can get that particular type of ruffle if you do it like this.(and about his oshi-san ofc)
• He's just so sweet that you don't have the heart to tell him to shut up😭
• Would ask you for help in designing Valkyrie's costume. And you would ask him for help in making the outfits. It's a win-win situation🙂
• After getting a little more famous by Valkyrie's credit for you, many other idols starts asking you to design their outfits.
• but even with the busy schedule for both you and Mika, you guys would always find time to meet up and hang out together🤗
• Definitely ask you to collab with Valkyrie. He would say it's to promote your group but in reality he just wanna spend time🥹.

Oshi No Ko Chapter 161 - My Thoughts/Analysis
This chapter was the very definition of a letdown. Let’s dig into just why that is. Spoilers for Oshi No Ko Chapter 161 below.
We’re back with the Aqua-Hikaru confrontation. Thank fuck. I shouldn’t have to be relieved that the manga didn’t cut away to something completely different in the middle of an important confrontation without warning.
Crow Girl appearance??? During this entire bit??? Are we finally going to dig deep into the more supernatural aspects of the series? It’d be more than a bit late for that if the manga was going in that direction, but I’m still curious to see what she’s even doing at this pivotal stage.
Are they really deus ex machena-ing Hikaru’s motivations here??? That has to be the laziest way to communicate that shit to the reader! It’s good to see that we’ve finally gotten some actual confirmation about why Hikaru does what he does for the readers that lack reading comprehension but doing it in this manner via what is essentially an author stand in is the mark of a straight up amateur!
Her existence isn’t eternal. Technically no one’s existence is eternal but I’m going to be real, with the confirmation that Hikaru is definitively a murderer by what is essentially a literal fucking god in the manga I think I want to shove a rotten tomato in his pretty face, as delusional as he is.
Will your precious Ruby be able to reach the heights of adulthood as the sister of a murderer? Has Hikaru ever heard of self defense or is this one last ditch attempt to dissuade Aqua? With Nino squealing to Akane and company there’d be more than enough evidence to put Hikaru at risk here of being arrested. Gotta love the Japanese conviction rate.
You already have plenty of reasons to live. Aqua does, really, but Hikaru you are absolutely not talking him out of this. You’re egging him on. That is not the behavior of someone that is trying to convince Aqua to not murder you in broad daylight. Not to mention there are plenty of other ways to kill Hikaru without being caught, you know. Accidental deaths, poisoning, just getting a fucking gun and shooting him and running away, pulling a Ryosuke and stabbing him in his apartment without getting caught, carbon monoxide poisoning, the list goes on and on. Aqua doesn’t need to kill Hikaru now, he can just wait with an indirect method later down the line! Even if Hikaru reported this to the authorities Aqua can just lie and say he was with Akane and company! It’s so fucking stupid.
I have my own dreams. Aquaaaaaa. That shot of everyone in Aqua’s support system…damn. Kana, Himekawa, Miyako, Akane, and Ruby…I’m getting the sense that he’s going to fucking stab Hikaru’s ass.
You’re spoiling Ruby’s future, so you’ll die here. And then Hikaru’s fucking face! At a certain point, manipulative words won’t be enough to control someone. There’s only so much a person can take before they snap and lash out. There was an Art of War quote that went something along those lines—something like you should always leave an escape route for your enemy because they’ll fight harder if the only thing left to lose is their lives. I’m bastardizing the quote, most likely, but the idea still holds. Eventually someone’s going to get fed up with Hikaru and decide he’s more trouble than he’s worth—which is exactly what he’s dealing with right now. Good fucking riddance.
Ruby looking off into the distance at the Dome—
AQUA STABS HIMSELF??? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME???
The media and public don’t want the truth so we can trick them completely. I won’t let this lie be exposed. Cool lines! Horrible fucking execution! If Hikaru had dodged or, I dunno, not been standing just before the cliff then this entire scenario just becomes nonsensical! This is soap opera levels of horrible writing right here.
Okay. That was certainly A Chapter. A pretty fucking bad chapter but certainly par for the course with the manga at this point. Let’s deal with the elephant in the room: Aqua and Hikaru’s potential deaths. I’ll state it plainly—I don’t think Aqua’s going to die, if only because of the fact that killing him off here would be a horrible narrative decision. There’s roughly about one or two more chapters left for the current volume of the manga and dealing with the fallout of Aqua’s death so close to the finish line would essentially mean cutting away all the plot threads that Aqua’s character had thrust to the readers and making all of that work related to Aqua’s character meaningless. It’s possible that Aqua dies here, I’ll admit, but there’s too much left unresolved with Aqua’s character for me to believe that he’ll die with this confrontation.
Also—Crow Girl is right there to save Aqua from death. I’m fully expecting a deus ex machena type situation to happen within the next chapter. Kaguya fans might make jokes about helicopters but I think this is a scale higher on the narrative butchery tier list. Creating a character that is a literal god to facilitate the plot moving and justifying bad narrative decisions? That’s the kind of shit that would make an author’s draft go straight into the shred pile with how bad it is. That’s the kind of shit that this series is doing.
What I do expect, however, is Hikaru dying. Despite Aqua being in a worse state that Hikaru in general after they went down together I don’t expect that he’ll survive this mess. Does it make sense logically? Absolutely not. Hikaru didn’t get stabbed and is fully developed physically compared to Aqua. It’s more probable that he’d be able to swim out of the sea unless he’d hit his head on the rocks or something. But because the narrative likely demands it I doubt he’ll survive. Let him rot. I wanna get confirmation with him dying before I give my final thoughts with him as an antagonist but at this point there’s no escaping the fact that his time as the main villain was so incredibly half-baked at best.
Now let’s talk about Aqua’s half assed plan to frame Hikaru for murder and simultaneously keep Ruby’s name from being sullied. It’s downright idiotic. On one hand, I understand his logic and the lie I want him to sell. On the other, there are countless ways off the top of my head that I can think of for him to get out of this situation without fucking STABBING HIMSELF.
Have Akane and Ichigo say that Hikaru tried to kill Aqua, fail in killing Aqua, then stab Hikaru and say that Hikaru jumped off the cliff trying committing suicide. Or better yet, just fucking stab Hikaru and claim self defense. Aqua can even stab himself to make it more believable. Hell, if Aqua was sure that Hikaru was guilty he could’ve killed Hikaru with an indirect method! Aqua talks so much shit about how he wants to live but doesn’t even attempt to think of a scenario where he comes out of it alive!
One could argue that it’s an in-character flaw that Aqua has here with dealing with Hikaru himself but character flaws serve the narrative, not the other way around. There are times where characters don’t make the most correctly objective decisions in the heat of the moment and that’s completely fine but Aqua himself points out that he wants to live and that he’s had time to try and save Hikaru, ergo he’d anticipated this entire situation to begin with! At a certain point if you think about it for more than two seconds there are countless ways to deal with him now that Nino has been captured and with Akane and Ichigo’s cooperation. So why the fuck is he still STABBING HIMSELF trying to deal with Hikaru???
I also don’t want to bring up the fact that we don’t know how Hikaru and Aqua met up suddenly for this second confrontation again but I have to because what the FUCK would Aqua done if Hikaru wasn’t conveniently standing just before a cliff? Would he have just killed Hikaru and then himself? What was his plan then? What if Hikaru had fucking dodged after Aqua STABBED HIMSELF? Aqua would be injured and what was his plan then???
This entire plot point is just stupid. It’s all so fucking stupid. The story is just leaping off a cliff and trying to make itself look cooler than it actually is when in reality none of these characters are making logical actions. If the series was better written and had more thought put into it maybe I’d be a bit more forgiving but this manga has already squandered so much goodwill as it closes to the ending.
There are also a couple of panels which have stirred up some discussion in the community that I’d like to give my two cents on. The first is when Hikaru says falling in love. Fans of Kana seem to think that this confirms that Aqua has feelings for Kana, to which I say that a single panel is not an absolute edict that confirms Aqua’s feelings for Kana. It’s good evidence, sure, but it isn’t anything that the series hasn’t done before with trying to handle the absolute mess that is the series’ love triangle.
If we were cherry picking panels within the series that prove or disprove our own agendas and interpretations when it comes to these characters, I’d point out that in Chapter 151 where Aqua doesn’t catch the ball Kana threw at him after she says she wants to be the only person Aqua looks is quite damning evidence against Kana winning the Aquabowl considering Aqua prioritized killing Hikaru over coming to Kana’s graduation concert. Dealing with Hikaru is something that Aqua could’ve done after the concert after Nino was captured. The implication being that, for Aqua, dealing with Hikaru is more important than attending the concert for Kana’s sake. Not exactly a scenario that inspires confidence in Kana’s chances in winning the Aquabowl, does it?
I would also like to note that Ruby is in that same panel, but I don’t think this panel confirms anything in particular beyond that Aqua feels a certain degree of attachment towards these girls, which is highlighted by the next set of panels I’m going to talk about.
The second panel, or rather, set of panels, that have garnered so much discussion are when Aqua responds to Hikaru about all of his own dreams. This one’s a bit more complex but the conclusions that some people make are just as outlandish. I’ve seen both Kana fans and Akane fans take these panels as confirmation that their girl is going to “win” the Aquabowl—which is laughable in some aspects. These two pages describe what people interpret to be a “winning flag” for their character of choice. Aqua wanting to respond to Kana’s feelings and also him wanting to rebuild an equal relationship with Akane.
The same issue as the previous panel applies here. A single panel and tongue and cheek references by the narrative do not constitute meaningful confirmation towards any sort of victor to the Aquabowl. While these panels do constitute some good bits of evidence to support either of the heroines winning the Aquabowl they’re certainly not the slam dunk confirmation that people seem to think they are. Unless we see an actual confession from Aqua’s side or a kiss that Aqua himself pursues of his own volition I doubt any sort of actual confirmation will be reached.
The end of the manga seems to be on the horizon anyway and truthfully I just want to be done with this whole love triangle business. It’s already diluted the ambience and the tone of the story so much throughout the manga’s runtime.

I want to talk to to the Nero fan pirate. :D Ask him what his name is and about where he got the merch?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
'LUCIUS FAN': "I'm Van. And… 'Nero'? I don't know who that is, but War Monitor Lucius is my favorite! She's my 'Oshi'-- I found that word from the Archives! Apparently, it's an old-fashioned word to refer to your super idols! She's got stuff all around the city-- and of course she does! She's way more pretty and stylish than Father Kotomine and Taiga Fujimura!"
Tumblr media
JAGUAR MAN: "Moby Dick! Kill this guy!"
DURYODHANA: "Remember that this is live television! At least be subtle with your jealousy!"
Tumblr media
VAN: "But I heard she was at Miss Cat's cafe with a handsome, intellectual-looking guy the other day… do you think it was her boyfriend? Maybe it was just her producer, or something…?"
VAN the Fan twiddled his thumbs nervously.
Right. Her and CONSTANTINE. It seemed like LUCIUS was a bit of a celebrity before… uh, things happened. Then again, NERO did effortlessly score you a room at one of the nicest hotels in the city on LUCIUS' War Monitor tab…
Tumblr media
JAGUAR MAN: "Y'hear that!? Your precious 'idol' is palling around with mysterious handsome men! Doesn't that go against the purity of the culture?! Maybe--"
DURYODHANA: "Start commentating on the damn whale before you say something that'll get you sued for slander!"
Tumblr media
ADMIRAL: "Forget slander! If I see any more lollygagging, there'll be a murder on this ship! Now quit slacking! The only 'idol' talk I want on this boat is about the golden kind!"

Oshi no Ko chapter 155
Kana and Akane on the cover are so pretty
"My revenge...I mean, your revenge is over now." I can't decide if this means Aqua gave up on revenge after hearing the CD or if his revenge still isn't over.
Miyako why you being so shady
Tumblr media
Oh. No shadiness. She cares about them so much I'm so happy
Tumblr media
This panel reminds me of the scene from after Ai died. Ruby's empty eyes, her tears, hugging Miyako.
Tumblr media
Aqua is actually a really selfless person when you think about it.

..oouuhhh🥲 I really like the panel of Miyako patting his hair as he cries. And the fact that his face is not shown, it somehow makes the tears more impactful.
Also this is gonna sound weird but I am extremely bothered by the size of his ear.
Oh. He still wanted to kill Kamiki. He gave up on his revenge for Ruby's sake. Because Ruby chose to forgive their father. He did it for his sister. Ahaaaaaaaaahhrhdhfhdh

I'm really sorry I can't shut up about this subject, I'm probably repeating this same idea over and over like some broken machine,
It's just that... My brain keeps acting on its own, it races and my hands can't keep up with the thoughts sometimes,
Well, I'm really passionate ;v;)/ and this won't return once I lose it, I still feel it could be a fun read for many! Because I like reading my thoughts-
Here's what I jotted again today!
Oshi no Ko
It feels somewhat refreshing now that the underlying story is starting to make sense.
This manga needs to address these aspects explicitly, whether through additional content in the volumes or something else.
The reason I ended up picking this manga back up in the latter half was...
Because I became convinced that Ai’s boyfriend could never have intended to harm her. He just didn’t seem like the kind of person who would do that. It's such a peculiar reason, isn’t it? But that had me so intrigued. I just had this feeling, like... “Huh? What’s going on here?” That’s how I got back into it.
The moment I saw the lyrics for the second season’s opening, I knew it. There’s something about this person... This person desperately wants to do something for Ai. The emotional tone—it’s just not the kind you’d see in someone who harmed their partner. And the way he reacts? That’s not it either. I had this instinctive feeling about it.
And as it turns out, as the story progresses, this aspect becomes even more opaque. In the end, the protagonist kills this person for reasons unrelated to Ai’s revenge.
There were so many opportunities to have developed him into someone who had gone after his girlfriend. Someone that'd have harmed her out of spite. That's pretty much what I thought the story would go when I first picked up this work. I wasn't really against that idea itself... I was sort of going to accept that as a thing, the matter was how it came to be and how he'd be punished for such a misdeed.
However, I’m convinced that he wasn’t guilty of that particular act. He never intended to harm Ai. There’s absolutely no hint of anything to suggest he did. His reactions don’t align with someone who’d do such a thing, the writers don't write things to back it up, in fact, he's written in a way that contradicts it. Which is why I kept following the series weekly, thinking, “No, this doesn’t add up. It just doesn’t.” And that chaotic whirlwind—I watched it all.
Honestly, you have no idea how tense I was, how much my heart raced as I drew fan art. I was so convinced the more I looked: “This person didn’t do it. He didn’t. He genuinely loved Ai so much.” I got so confused but that's really what I picked up. But then again, it’s up to the author how they decide to twist things. If it turned out he was just some petty guy who got angry at being dumped and lashed out at Ai and her child, who she was raising on her own—I was ready to scrap all my interpretations and artwork and accept it. That’s how I approached this series.
This manga drives you nuts... It touches on such sensitive themes, but I can’t help feeling there are points where it’s handled too carelessly. It keeps pushing the limits of what I can tolerate—back and forth.
Looking at it, Kamiki seems to hold Ai more precious than himself. It’s a consistent attitude of his, so much so that he prioritizes her life over his own. This must’ve been the case even before they broke up, back when they were young. His state of mind is exactly that of Fatal or Mephisto: not hatred or resentment, but longing, sorrow, and despair.
I was baffled by why a character with such accusations against him would display these emotions, so I delved into the story. And honestly, there’s actually no evidence to suggest he harbored any kind of twisted affection toward Ai. On the contrary, everything points to them having been genuinely happy together. My conclusion is that he loved Ai sincerely and purely.
Then why did things turn out this way? Why did Aqua still feel the need to kill him, even if it was for another reason? (Yeah.. Because he supposedly killed a lot of people... Haha. This is so messed up lol) And how on earth did Kamiki end up becoming involved in such bizarre, horrifying serial murders? Why? What logic? How could he do such things, and why would he even think of doing them?
He’s at least a major antagonist and, at most, the final boss. He’s the protagonist’s ultimate target—someone Aqua sacrifices everything to defeat. Yet everything about him remains ambiguous, and the resolution feels absurd, almost like a deus ex machina. The ending is shockingly flimsy and absurd, boiling down to, “They just talked, and then he drowned. The end.” (Oh, come on.)
There are faint hints scattered throughout about why things unfolded this way, but the story never fully explores them.
There’s one critical premise required to make sense of this progression. If that premise is confirmed, then all the bizarre developments and foreshadowing fall neatly into place. This must be the answer:
Kamiki Hikaru is, in truth, Sarutahiko Okami, the husband of Ame-no-Uzume, the goddess of entertainment, who has reincarnated as Ai. His name suggests he’s a god of light—not just any god of light, but a fallen one. (Because he needs to have fallen to give the protagonist a justification to defeat him, right? Haha, seriously.)
If this had been made clear, it would’ve explained the strange developments in the final act, resolved the loose ends, and provided at least some semblance of closure. But because the story refused to address this, we’re left without an explanation for why events unfolded the way they did.
The rest, the analogies to back this up, I'll put in the read more because this is getting long.
The strange events occurring around that character are not necessarily logical or causal; instead, they seem oddly supernatural in nature.
That’s because it’s the power of that god Sarutahiko. It works that way.
They kill this person, claiming he will "ruin Ruby’s future", right? How does that make sense? Well-
Originally, he is the "Michihiraki" god—a deity who leads everything toward goodness, righteousness, and the best possible outcomes. If he had not fallen and retained the white star, he probably would have continued to act that way. However, due to the darkness of the entertainment industry, he was hurt, broken, and corrupted, turning black and changing to the opposite. Even the events that occur around him—whether or not he intends them—are unclear.
Both Ai and this person are gods, and both are fatale, bringing misfortune to those around them.
However, it seems this person is the ultimate fatale. That's why Ai's song is IDOL and his is named Fatal. That is what they are!!!
What would have been the best outcome for Kamiki himself? He likely never wanted to part ways with Ai in the first place. If that’s already the case, he would have wanted to reunite with Ai and get back together. He might have wanted to congratulate her on her dome performance. He probably wished to live happily with her. However, if his power had already been corrupted at that time, it would have worked to lead him into the worst possible future, even for himself.
Looking back now, wasn’t him being separated from Ai the beginning of everything really falling apart for these two? While they were apart, they seemed to manage their own lives well enough. But in the brief moments Ai reconnected with Kamiki after that breakup, events spiraled in unpredictable, tragic directions—even for Kamiki.
Was Gorou’s death Kamiki’s fault? <I honestly don’t know about this. Did he commission it, thinking that without the children, Ai would return to him?;; ??? Probably not?? Since Kamiki claims he didn’t know, let’s set that aside for now (though, truthfully, I don’t understand this part at all;;).
As for the situation where Ryosuke killed Ai: Kamiki likely didn’t want Ai to die. He suffers from that consequence and it literally ate up his entire purpose of living. The context provided in Chapter 154 and the one provided in Chapter 160 differ. When I read the context in Chapter 154, it was so sloppy and strange. I mean, who sends a grown man to a woman they claim to love—and to her children? And sending flowers along with it too? Threatening her, yet sending flowers? Looking back, in that scene, there was also a bottle of alcohol in the flashback. In Japan, you have to be 20 years old to drink alcohol, right? So even Ai couldn’t drink before her death. That means Kamiki couldn’t drink at all, then; I drew something about this even before Chapter 160’s context was revealed. And about that ‘despair’ he's felt—whenever Kamiki feels despair, he doesn’t take bold actions. He freezes, stiffens, and cries instead. That's his behavior pattern.
I think Chapter 160 provides the most accurate context, for several reasons. When Kamiki received Ai’s call, he likely responded in one of two ways: either he grieved in a self-critical way (thinking, I can’t reconcile with her because I’m inadequate) or he felt pure joy (I’m just happy I get to see her again). Chapter 160 suggests the latter, and it fits his personality. Why didn’t he go to meet her in person? That part is frustrating, but not impossible to understand. He’s timid. Compared to the personality we see in the movie arc, he’s likely even gentler and more timid, incapable of taking bold actions.
From what I perceive, this person seems even more fragile and soft-hearted than the version Aqua portrayed in the movie arc! It’s because they genuinely seemed clueless. Overly naive, overly trusting, and incapable of doubting others—someone who took everything they were told at face value. This personality seemed to exist, at least in their youth. Even when they were being abused, they were tormented but still thought, “Is this right because everyone likes it?” On the other hand, Aqua's portrayal of the character was aware of the wrongness of the situation, showing displeasure in their expressions. However, in Kamiki’s actual flashback of similar circumstances, their expression looked somewhat blank, as though they didn’t even realize that what was happening to them was wrong. That’s how defenseless they were, to the point where they couldn’t even bring themselves to get angry.
When a person recognizes that what they’re enduring is unjust or horrific, they can resist. But Kamiki seems to have been subjected to such things from an early age, to the extent that they internalized everything as their own fault.
This explains why, regarding Ai, they couldn’t have had a strong reaction when they were rejected. They likely couldn’t even get angry about it. Based on their own words and the reactions they showed, it’s hard to believe this person is the perpetrator. The situation described in Chapter 160 aligns best with their personality. Up until that point, they seemed cheerful, easily swayed by others, and overly trusting. It feels like they only became more wary and aware after being completely burned by the Ryosuke incident.
Also, when you look at how they reacted to Ai, their expressions are far brighter and more genuine than what was portrayed in the movie arc. Their face shows pure happiness, as if they didn’t know how to contain the joy they felt.
No, there’s just no way this person could have intended any harm toward Ai. Absolutely none.
They didn't have to write him this way, yet they have... They keep things vague!!
Well, these ambiguous aspects are truly headache-inducing, but since this isn’t a character analysis post, let’s move on.
If we conclude that Chapter 160 is closer to the truth, then what would have been the best future for Kamiki? It would have been Ai safely receiving the flowers, being happy, the two reuniting, and Kamiki getting to meet his children. That would have been the best, righteous outcome.
But the exact opposite happens. And Kamiki himself feels despair to the point of wanting to die over the situation. His feelings of love, as described in Chapter 158, were referred to as desire, disappointment, and despair. I think it means something like this: he wanted to be with Ai, was disappointed when he couldn’t be, and despaired when Ai died. Alternatively, it could mean: he wanted to resurrect Ai and be with her again, was disappointed repeatedly when he failed, and despaired over her absence.
In the flashbacks to events around Ai’s death, Kamiki already had the black star. But does that alone mean he was already evil? I’m not sure. When he cried to Ai or in the flashback of their breakup, he had the black star, but Ai seemed very concerned about him and appeared to care for him deeply, even wanting to live with him forever.
If that’s the case, the black star itself might not signify wickedness but rather a change in nature—a fall, perhaps. And if that state persists, it might lead to a damaged soul or something like that.
As for the events happening around Kamiki, they seem... beyond his control.
Whether he intends them or not, the conclusion remains the same: he is a god. For example, when he suggested Nino to turn herself in but she ended up acting out attempting to stab Ruby instead—that was bizarre. Nino blames Kamiki, but what was absurd was the reason she brings up to blame him. She says he kept talking about Ai. That's it. It’s unlikely Kamiki said anything bad about Ai. If anything, he probably spoke fondly and expressed how much he missed her. What else would he have said to a fan or someone from Ai’s group? Yet, because of that, Ai ends up being killed? Ruby ends up being threatened? If that’s all Kamiki did, it suggests his ability isn’t merely about manipulating people cleverly—it’s about controlling the future itself. Things don't naturally turn out to be like this. The cause-effect is illogical and disproportionate. It's too disatrous of an outcome for something so trivial. If he intends for this to happen and it's played out exactly the way he wanted, then this guy is a god!!!
But in Ai’s case, it wasn't the desired result, right? He never wanted her to get killed, did he? And in the case of Airi’s family’s deaths, even more so. Could Kamiki have planned for Uehara to kill Airi and then himself? If Kamiki were the type of person with that much malice, he wouldn’t have been so helpless or despairing about Airi's exploitation of him. Things just don't add up for this person to be thought of as the ultimate evil mastermind of sorts, even if he may be now, he doesn't seem like he used to be one.
The discussion veered off-track, but to summarize:
Kamiki is a god meant to lead everything in a virtuous and righteous direction, but at some point, he transformed into a god who drives everything toward destruction and malice. As a result, he became an entity that must be eliminated.
Aqua's role is to remove him, while Ruby's role is to replace him. Ruby embodies both Ai and Kamiki's roles, as she is both Light (Kamiki—the light/sun god) and an Idol (Ai—the god of entertainment). It’s as if the twins born between Ai and Kamiki were each assigned these roles as their missions.
Meanwhile, Kamiki, having lost Ai, desperately wanted to regain her and thus went around gathering the “light of love.”
Regardless of his intentions, Kamiki’s very existence became a disaster. Keeping him alive would only bring misfortune to those around him. He became a fatal figure who draws out the destructive and malicious sides of people, leading them to ruin. This makes him a threat. However, it seems even he himself suffered because of this. Look at the ending—what he truly wanted was so far from what he achieved. He didn't want things to end the way it did.
The things Kamiki caused are not within the scope of what humans can logically perform.
There were plenty of foreshadowing hints that he is Sarutahiko the god. A shrine dedicated to the god he represents appeared, and the circumstances linking Ai and Kamiki closely resemble the marriage of the entertainment gods Ame-no-Uzume and Sarutahiko. Ai even remarked that Kamiki had lost his way, which is ironic since he’s supposed to be the god of guidance. He shows interest in others' wishes,(he grants them) is called a monster (he's the model for one), and is described as having a noble soul(that god does). Alongside his wife, he is also a god of entertainment. His role was to bless the industry originally. There’s even the water motif—his mythological counterpart dies by drowning. His name itself contains both “light” and “god.” He was concerned with finding and understanding what’s right as a child, likely because that knowledge was essential for properly guiding others.
The ending reflects the myth of his model deity, who dies by drowning. Ruby shining brightly in the end mirrors Ame-no-Uzume (Ai) drawing out Amaterasu (Ruby) while Kamiki, the former sun god (Sarutahiko), is replaced. This resolution ties directly to these mythological connections.
This should have been explained more explicitly in the story. Doing so would have clarified the narrative progression, the antagonist’s actions, and the true nature of the events. Without this context, readers are left constantly asking, “How should I interpret this story? What was it even about?”
Moreover, the things this character supposedly did don’t make logical sense, lack narrative consistency, and don’t align with his personality. Why did this happen? What was the necessity? It feels like there must have been a reason for writing his personality this way. They could have portrayed him as purely evil or even confirmed he killed Ai but they never do. So, it’s unsettling. It doesn’t feel right. The protagonist’s actions and the resolution don’t sit well with me. How could this even happen? Where is the realism? There’s no way to interpret this cleanly by only looking at the base source material.
This needs to be addressed. It’s not about whether the character is good or evil. Without this explanation, the story’s progression and resolution remain incomprehensible. Why did it unfold this way? Why does the ending feel so unresolved? Without these answers, I can’t help but feel dissatisfied.
Am I the only one who feels this way? Is this really resolved? It didn’t feel like a conclusion at all.
For a character who appeared so little, they carried an oddly significant weight in the story. If you don’t understand who they are, you’ll never fully grasp the work as a whole. But looking at it this way, nearly everything falls into place. If we’re questioning how much of it was intentional on his part, then…
When I view this through the lens of mythology, the god corresponding to Kamiki genuinely seems like a benevolent one. I think he went mad after losing his wife.
He went insane. He wouldn’t have stopped unless he died or brought his wife back. But malice… I don’t think it was present. Personally, I place great importance on intention, and that has always been the sticking point for me.
Ai treasured him so deeply, and if I can conclude that he was worth such devotion, I think I’d find some comfort in that. Yes… they must have been happy together. Truly. That’s how I see it.
Was he a malicious and wicked person? There aren’t as many supporting elements for that interpretation as you’d expect—surprisingly, none at all. If that’s the case, then this interpretation must be correct.
