It’s strange when “democracy” means people have to choose between Ivanka’s dad and Ella’s mom, as if that’s supposed to feel empowering. Sure, two bad options don’t feel great, but hey, at least there are options. In some countries, you’d be lucky to get even one choice. And in others? They don’t get elections at all, just a permanent leader who shows up like it’s just another day on the clock. But here democracy feels like a two for one special with a free side of disappointment.
Now that Ivanka’s dad has won. Yes Yes my friend !! Abo Ivanka has won!! And here we are, looking at this system and thinking, “Was this even a choice?” It’s like being asked to pick between plain oatmeal and soggy cereal for breakfast. Sure, it’s technically a choice, but nobody’s excited about it. The two main parties hog the spotlight so completely, they’ve turned “options into a choice between “slightly bad” and “absolutely dreadful.” And heaven forbid a third-party voice shows up, because here, you need a 50% popularity rating just to get a seat at the grown-ups’ table.
By now, picking a president feels like choosing between the flu and food poisoning. The two big parties are so close in their love for big donors, it’s like watching rival soap operas funded by the same network. We call it “democracy,” but it feels like a rigged game, with mega-donors pulling the strings while the rest of us are just the audience, sitting here with popcorn, hoping the plot somehow gets better.
Sure, many lean toward the Democrats, thinking they’re the “better” choice. But from where I’m sitting, especially as a Palestinian, neither side looks promising. Take Gaza: Democrats have left it in ruins, like a bulldozer at a sandcastle competition, with 80% of the infrastructure leveled and 90% of the people displaced. Now Ivanka’s dad is in charge, and, honestly, we’re past worrying about escalation, because there’s nothing left to escalate to. At this rate, they have already broken the records for destruction and the number of martyred, but the looming fear now is if there’ll be any Gaza left to talk about.
For Palestinians, for Gaza, for much of the world, this isn’t “democracy”; it’s a magic show where they tell you to pick a card, but no matter what you choose, it always comes back to the same card: disaster.
And now, winter’s arrived in Gaza. The nights there? Let’s just say, they’re colder than the stare you’d get from a #### who’s been asked to pay $12 or 15 for a black coffee. My family, like so many others, is living in a tent, a “tent” being a generous word for a few sheets trying to pass for walls. The wind comes in from every side, and huddling under thin blankets in this weather is like fighting a snowstorm with a paper towel. The cold bites to the bone, and there’s no escape; it’s like nature’s way of reminding us we’re still here, exposed.
If you can, please consider donating. Even the smallest help means warmth on a freezing night, a bit of comfort in the middle of a relentless winter. It’s a glimmer of hope for my family and trust me, it’s more welcome than soggy cereal ever could be.

TASTE … ʟɴ⁴
in which, lando calls off his arrangement with his best friend for a new girl — but all he can think of is her.
contains: a little bit of angst, lando with another girl (brief smut), smut; dom!lando, brief sub!lando, body worship, oral (f + m), fingering, face-sitting, squirting, p in v, unprotected sex, mentions of anal; a bit of fluff at the end.
lando norris x female character (ella ainsley)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
... pretty morning streams of sunlight beamed through lando norris’ apartment windows — illuminating the blonde hair splayed on the right side of his bed. white sheets were tangled between two warm bodies, one with pinkish-red scratch marks littered down his back, and the other with light brown bruises squeezed into her hips.
who, you ask? these were the almost entwined bodies of lando norris and his best friend, ella ainsley. well, they weren't just best friends, they were something a little more - best friends with benefits, or best friends who used each other to burn off a few calories and release some pent up sexual desperation.
however, arrangements like these hardly ever end well - and it was the same for the case of lando and ella.
"morning." ella murmured as she noticed lando intently gazing at her in the early beams of light.
"morning pretty girl." he rasped, voice a little croaky as his eyes fluttered open and closed a few times. "sleep well?"
"as always." she smiled groggily, letting her eyes naturally close for a few seconds, before her gaze fell back to the brit practically on top of her. "you?"
"always when i'm with you." he breathed out, staring at her for a moment or two, before pulling his gaze away from and rolling over.
lando got out of bed with a large stretch, muscles in his back contorting as his shoulders rolled back, ella's eyes fixated on him - he was so gorgeous.
"breakfast?" he questioned, raising his eyebrows as he rubbed his eye with his knuckles — stood there in his black boxers and nothing else.
“mhm.” she nodded sleepily with a small smile.
now, these two seem very cuddly and lovey — don’t they? ella thought so too, so the events of the following week severely surprised and hurt her - a lot.
“i’m calling it off.” lando said as they sat in his car. "going on a date tomorrow night, sorry.”
his tone was blunt but soft — like he didn’t care but he did? men were so confusing.
“oh.” she said simply, blinking at him. “okay.”
originally, ella thought his message had been one of those messages, telling her to get ready to be picked up by him, but clearly not.
“what’s her name?” she asked, glancing over at him as she fiddled with her fingers in her lap.
“um… luna.” he nodded, the air in the car having now grown extremely thick.
“oh, okay.” ella replied quietly. “i look forward to meeting her.”
of course she didn’t look forward to meeting her.
ella spent the rest of the evening in her apartment, wondering what this meant for their friendship. surely there was no way of coming back from this - lando had ruined her for anyone else.
there was no way that anyone could compare to him, in a lot of ways. she thought it was completely impossible for anyone to make her see literal constellations on her ceiling, for anyone to make her cry the tears of torturous pleasure, for anyone to make her so loud.
lando’s date went quite well, luna was polite and nice, and pretty too. the two went back to her apartment — lando never brought girls back to his apartment, in fear of media and paparazzi.
her apartment was nice, he felt lost though. her hand led him to her bedroom immediately — this all felt a little wrong.
usually, with ella, she’d come round to his place, they’d have dinner, watch a movie, and let it happen naturally — this whole straight away thing felt a little forced.
she didn’t even bother kissing him, instead she was straight onto her knees and working at his dress pants roughly. was it bad he missed the feeling of someone’s lips all over his jaw and neck and collarbone and chest and abs? how softly her hands would undo his belt or untie the strings of his joggers? how she’d suck dark hickeys on his v-line as she tugged his clothes to the floor?
he wasn’t even hard. like, there was a little bit of blood rushing south but nowhere near enough to make him useful to her.
well, he wasn’t hard until her lips wrapped around him and descended down. she didn’t even gag. usually, well before ella, he would have found that so hot — but ella had the worst gag reflex on the planet, but she’d keep going nonetheless — gazing up at him as tears pricked the corners of her eyes.
“mhm.” he hummed as her tongue brushed over the sensitive slit at the tip of his cock.
it wasn’t her fault that she didn’t know what he liked — so he couldn’t complain.
she must have been on that floor for the best part of fifteen minutes? he was getting closer to something, maybe stimulation or something but it most definitely wasn’t an orgasm.
“come here.” he mumbled, pulling her up to him, pushing her back on the bed.
they weren’t even naked, yet he quickly spread her legs and pulled her underwear to the side. after quickly rolling a condom over himself, he ran his cock through her folds a few times, not really bothering to make sure she was properly lubed up as he would do usually — before pushing in.
it didn’t take her long to cum, maybe a few minutes? still, he didn’t cum, nevertheless he pulled out with a fake moan, slipping the condom off of him quickly and tossing it in the bin near him.
“that was… incredible.” she panted out, sitting up. “are you going to stay the night?”
“um.” he pursed his lips — quick, think of a lie. “sorry, i can’t, got to be up early for a team meeting.”
a team meeting, really? in the middle of the summer break?
for ella, it wasn't now the fact that when she had sex she didn't cum, it was the fact that she couldn't cum, full stop.
she'd even enlisted the help of her ex-boyfriend, jack. it was easy, really, ella had messaged him saying she missed him and asked if he wanted to come over.
surprise, surprise, he was of no use to her.
so, when a new week rolled around, both parties were distraught. lando for being such an idiot and calling off the deal, ella for not being able to cum no matter how hard she tried.
she was adamant that tonight was the night.
ella had even gone out and treated herself to some new lingerie — the prettiest deep blue matching bra and underwear from victoria’s secret.
she had to admit, she looked hot.
her delicate fingers shamefully ran down her tummy, squeezing the skin gently as the others toyed with her nipples.
usually, by now, she’d be writhing underneath lando and begging him for more — but he wasn’t here and neither was the pleasure he’d bring with him.
she imagined it was his veiny hands travelling down her body like a well-trained explorer, paying attention to the dips of her hips and the small bump of her v-line. it did something momentary for her, heat flushing down her inner thighs, but it quickly died along her chest after rolling up her tummy.
"fuck." she groaned, and not in a good way.
ella was about to reach to her bedside cabinet for one of her helpers, when a frantic knock echoed through her apartment — who on earth was at her door at seven on a sunday evening?
sluggishly, ella crawled out of bed, grabbing her dressing gown and wrapping it around her body.
knock-knock-knock-knock-knock!
"god, okay, i'm coming." she huffed as she walked toward the door.
and there he was — the subject of her torture and her desires.
"la-"
hands frantically cupped her cheeks, pressing a needy kiss to her lips — okay, this definitely wasn't something that they usually did. nevertheless, she melted into the kiss, her hands travelling to the back of his head as he walked them forward and kicked the door shut behind him.
she pulled away reluctantly — "woah, woah, woah. what are you doing here? i thought you called the deal off?"
"i did, i missed you." he nodded, going to lean in desperately again, but he was stopped by her index finger on his lips.
"what the fuck are you doing then?" ella raised her eyebrows, waiting for an answer from the brit.
"i like you, like a lot, ells." he blurted out. "like more than best friends."
what. the. fuck.
"huh." was all she could muster, blinking rapidly up at him.
"i mean if you don't feel the same i'll leave and we can—"
"no, no — just say it again so i know i'm not going insane." she shook her head, reassuring him that he wasn't about to be kicked out.
"ella ainsley, i like you, a lot."
"wow." her mouth hung slightly agape, and with a laugh, she continued, "oh! sorry, i like you too, so much."
"thank god." he breathed out, a small chuckle leaving his lips. "come here, pretty girl."
lando stepped forward and picked her up, wrapping her legs around his waist — she thought she could have actually cum from the action alone.
"be my girlfriend, please?"
"well, since you asked so nicely," she smiled with a blush. "yes, i will be your girlfriend, lando norris."
"good, 'cause i wasn't going to give you a choice anyway." he laughed softly, pressing another gentle peck to her lips as he navigated his way to her bedroom.
she rolled her eyes with a giggle, adjusting her arms around his neck as he walked through the doorway and toward her double bed. lando put her down on her feet, quickly undoing the bow at the front of her dressing gown — expecting her to be in pyjamas underneath or something.
his jaw hit the floor along with the robe — she looked fucking divine.
"fucking hell." he breathed out with a low groan, drinking in her body under the lace set — blue always was one of his favourite colours. "jesus ells."
"you like it?" she asked, the most innocent look in her eyes.
"fucking love it." he rasped, gently shoving her back onto the bed and taking his shirt off immediately. "look gorgeous."
an adorable blush spread across her features and a smile painted itself across her lips.
immediately, he leant down and pressed hot, open-mouthed kisses to her neck, trailing down to her chest — tapping her side and mumbling, "up," prompting her to arch up her back so he could undo her bra.
lando expertly unclasped the mechanism and slid the material off of her body, tossing it to the side. soft moans left her lips as he attached his lips to one of her nipples, swirling his tongue around the sensitive bud. two of his fingers travelled up to her mouth, tapping at her lips softly so he could slide his digits in.
she welcomed them warmly, sucking on them softly as he pressed them against her tongue. lando then quickly pulled them out with a low groan, and brought said fingers down to her other nipple, pinching and softly rolling it in between his fingers.
"please." ella whined as heat fizzed and bubbled all over her body.
"hm, what was that?" lando teased, looking directly up at her with a small smirk.
"lando.." she groaned with a small laugh. "just get on with it."
"how romantic." he joked, letting his now free hand travel down to her abdomen.
he hooked his fingers under the waistband of her underwear and pulled it up, letting it snap back against her tummy. lando watched the dazed look in her eyes as he shuffled downward, letting his lips press soft kisses on her stomach along the way — before latching his teeth onto her panties and slowly pulling them down.
god, he was a sight for sore eyes.
lando quickly then pulled them off the rest of the way, and spread her legs wide open before him. ella thought she had ascended to heaven when he gently let his spit find its way to her pussy, lubing her to no end.
he was merciless, giving her no warning at all before his tongue was aggressively flicking at her clit and two of his thick fingers were stuffed deep inside of her, finding that spongey spot that drove her wild.
"lando... fuck." she moaned loudly, trying to close her legs around his head, but failing when they fell weak upon feeling his spare hand pressing down on her lower stomach. "god... yes!"
he murmured something incoherently hot into her folds, the vibrations causing the magic knot in her stomach to coil nice and tight.
it was like heaven on earth. his lips sucked at her clit messily and the most lewd sounds were emerging from her due to her wetness and lando's extra lube — god, he loved it.
"lan—" she whimpered, she fucking whimpered; lando could have died in her pussy a happy man right there and then.
her mind flashed with warm colours, like warning lights in a factory — something was different about how he felt, and it was sending her barrelling toward her first orgasm of the evening.
"fuck, ells." lando groaned into her when her hand needily grabbed at his hair, running her nails through his mullet — she was definitely a mullet fan now.
"god — so close." ella whined so desperately, so loudly.
lando knew what made her tick — always had, always would. so, it was natural for him when he gently squeezed her clit between his teeth and scissored his fingers apart just that little bit harder — and it was no surprise to him when she fucking fluttered around him, her inner walls shaking violently as she came all over his fingers.
he pulled them out quickly, replacing his fingers with his tongue so he could taste the remnants of her ecstasy — so fucking sweet.
"taste so good, baby." he mumbled as he licked a stripe up her cunt.
her hips bucked away from his mouth, but his arms held her firmly downward — "hey, let me taste you, ells."
"too much." she breathed out, not really meaning it, but she felt so sensitive right now it was insane. "let me make you feel good, yeah?"
the words coming from her mouth made lando's head shoot up and look at her from between her thighs — "don't worry about me, darling."
"no, no." she shook her head. "i want to — missed your cock in my mouth." ella felt strange saying such lewd things but she could tell it was definitely turning lando on.
"oh yeah?" he teased. "missed me in your mouth?"
"yeah, always turns me on." she nodded quickly, sitting up. "on the bed, lan."
lando, for once, did as he was told. he sat on the bed as she got to her knees as quickly as possible.
he was wearing these baggy blue jeans with a basic black belt — ella's favourite pair because they were so easy to undo, even when she had nails on.
she undid the buckle and unbuttoned the jeans, before yanking them down his legs and let them pool at his ankles — too eager to throw them to the side.
ella took his cock in her hand, tracing her finger up the prominent vein on the underside of his shaft, earning a shudder from the driver above her. on the other hand, ella also knew what made lando tick, she knew he was a sucker for eye contact, that he would melt when she praised him, and the slit of his cock and his tip? she was sure she could get him to come without even touching any other part of him.
after sliding the pad of her thumb over his sensitive tip, and making his hips stutter up into her hand, ella got to work. as soon as her lips wrapped around his tip, lando's hand had gathered her hair back into a makeshift ponytail and was tightly holding it. she always did this, and it never failed — as if it was a routine; tease him by sucking on his tip for a little, then kiss his cock all over while muttering praises to him, and then literally go to fucking town on him while gazing up at him with pretty doe eyes — worked every fucking time.
so that's what she did.
"fucking hell, ells." lando moaned lowly as her tongue swirled around his tip, swiping over his slit every now and again.
she kept going until he was whining and whimpering, bucking his hips away from oversensitivity even though he hadn't cum yet. she then leant down and ran her tongue from the base to tip, before leaving messy lip gloss stains up his cock.
"good boy." she praised softly as he whined out, biting his lower lip and tossing his head back. "such a pretty boy."
"god—" he whimpered loudly. "fucking hell, baby, don't stop."
she pretended as if she was going to keep going, sticking her tongue out to lick him again, before quickly lifting her head up and sinking him slowly into her mouth.
her gag reflex kicked in around halfway down his cock, her throat convulsing and fluttering around him as he hit her tonsils — but she didn't care. tears pricked at the corners of her eyes as she began to bob her head, fast.
"god...” lando groaned, head tossed back and hand gripping her hair so tightly as he began to thrust softly up into her mouth. "ella..."
it was so good he couldn't even look at her — he knew that if he looked at the angel between his legs then he was a dead man.
and boy was he right.
a brief look at the woman on her knees with her mouth wrapped around his aching cock was enough to make him spiral — a guttural groan left his lips and his hips bucked up into her mouth, the feeling of his tip hitting the back of her throat making thick ropes of hot cum spill into her mouth, coating her tonsils generously.
"fuck, ells." lando panted heavily, wiping a small bit of his release off of the side of her mouth — before pushing it into her mouth again.
he went soft for a few seconds, but the sight of her getting up and sitting on his lap? that made all the blood rush straight back to his cock, aching and twitching.
"no, no." he tutted.
with his strength alone, he lifted her from his lap and laid himself down on the bed, putting her down on his face. ella almost yelped at the feeling of his nose pressing against her clit, her hips lifting off of him immediately.
"sensitive, baby?" he teased, hands squeezing her ass firmly — earning a quick nod. "what a shame."
lando's hands stayed planted firmly on her ass cheeks, kneeding them softly as he pulled her back down onto his face. his nose pressed against her clit as his tongue slipped inside of her, swirling around her walls — her thighs clenched around his head harshly.
slowly but surely, the sensitivity faded to overwhelming pleasure, and ella began to grind her hips back and fourth, whiny, airy moans leaving her lips every time her clit was poked by his nose.
"fuck—" she moaned loudly, frantically searching for purchase with her hands, finally finding home in his hair. "lando... yes—"
it was when her thighs began to clench and shake, when her walls began to flutter around his tongue, when her hands grabbed extra hard at his hair, when her moans turned airy and high-pitched — he knew.
the feeling of his nose grinding against her clit sent her over the edge, combined with his conveniently long tongue pressing against her g-spot — she was well and truly gone.
“yeah — right there. fuck!”
lando didn’t let up at all, if anything, his efforts doubled. his nose dug into her clit, sending her flying over the edge. the warm liquid gushed out of her, coating his lips and nose and cheeks and chin — he relished the moment like it was his last alive. her legs trembled and shook like a fucking earthquake, his nose now tapping against her sensitive spots as she bucked her hips from oversensitivity.
"god—" ella panted out, lando moving her back onto his lap, before then flipping her over so her perfect ass was high up in the air for him.
he could see her pretty entrance clenching and relaxing, fluttering in the harsh aftershocks of her orgasm — drawing him in.
"gonna let me have this one day, aren't you, pretty girl?" lando cooed, his voice soft but raspy, with his thumb toying with the untouched hole enticing him — anal was something he'd always wanted to try with ella, and ella only.
"yeah — uh huh." she babbled, her hips voluntarily pushing back toward him, now feeling incredibly empty without him stuffed deep inside of her, one way or another. "please."
"give me a second, baby." he rasped, leaning over to her bedside cabinet to grab a condom — only for her hand to swat his away.
"no, want to feel you properly." ella whined. "need to."
"are you sure, ells?" lando asked quietly — they'd never had sex without a condom before.
"i'm sure." she replied, looking back at him, blinking at the driver in anticipation.
lando actually thought he could have died right there and then, her begging was driving him insane. "okay." he panted out.
he softly presses forward, running the tip of his aching cock through her folds — his member pressing against her clit briefly. lando groaned out at the feeling of his sensitive tip sliding inside of her, feeling whole and complete and at home inside her.
no time was wasted, he was pumping in and out of her almost immediately, tapping her g-spot delicately to taunt her.
she whined and whimpered and writhed underneath him, moaning incoherently as he fucked her senseless. her hips pushed back against him to meet his steady thrusts - he immediately knew that meant she wanted it harder, but not faster.
lando quickly altered the angle at which he was pushing forward at, and he could straight away tell that was what she needed. his thick cock was now slamming against her g-spot, and it made him even more determined to ruin her. a veiny hand reached between her legs, flicking effortlessly at her clit, her hips jolting and legs buckling as his thumb circled it quickly. he wanted to make her fall apart.
not that he could see it, but tears were streaming down her face, moans turning needier and more carnal as he started to whimper louder than he was previously.
"touch yourself, baby." he commanded, voice sultry and low.
her hand made its way to her dripping pussy, rubbing shapes and patterns on her clit, as lando's hand occupied itself with pressing down on her lower stomach.
one particularly deep thrust made her collapse, ella's lower body begging to be released, but the singular hand lando had placed on her stomach kept her up, doubling the size of the knot in her tummy in the process.
his name fell from her lips like a fucking prayer, rolling off of her tongue with such ease it might as well have been an everyday item - mixed with whines of 'right there' and 'don't stop, please.'
and fall apart she did.
another one of those impossibly deep thrusts sent her spiralling, tears streaming, throat raw, pussy clenching like her life depended on it. her whole body tensed and relaxed all at the same time, walls constricting around him, fluttering and shaking and squeezing so intensely lando though he was actually going to die.
he didn't die, but he did cum - hard. hot, thick liquid shot out of his tip, filling her up so much it began to leak out of her, dripping down her inner thighs as her legs shook harshly. he kept thrusting though his own orgasm, somehow, causing the familiar clear liquid to gush from her sensitive pussy and coat his balls, her legs, the once clean sheets - if he could take a photo, he would.
he pulled out as slowly as he could, very much aware of the fact that she would be sore after that entire ordeal. she winced softly, but lando just gazed down at her puckered hole, screaming and red, fluttering and unsure of what to do with itself without him stuffed inside.
"you okay, baby?" lando asked softly, rolling her onto her back gently.
"fuck- yeah... god." she babbled, breathless and heaving slightly.
he laughed airly, leaning down to press a kiss to her forehead. he headed to the bathroom, and she closed her eyes. the next thing ella knew, a warm flannel was being pressed in between her legs, and her hips were involuntarily bucking away from the pressure.
"hey, hey, stay still, okay?" he quietly cooed, rubbing her inner thigh lovingly. "can you do that for me?"
an unsure hum left her lips, and after a few attempts, her body began to settle and lando continued to clean her up, wiping the remnants of their mixed release off of her body, and then afterward he scurried back off to the bathroom to do the same for himself.
lando returned again a few minutes later, holding a change of clothes and a glass of water for her - having now gotten dressed into some spare clothes he kept at her apartment.
"ells?" he murmured as he sat down next to her splayed out body on the bed. "i've got you some clothes, if you want them?"
she nodded, lifting her arms up into the air so she could put her arms through the t-shirt. she never let him dress her afterward, she must have been really out of it.
lando laughed fondly, helping the girl dress before assisting her into bed, tucking her in before crawling in next to her. it was natural for her to roll into his arms, and when she did, lando naturally pulled her in closer, pressing a gentle kiss to her cheek.
"night, lan." she mumbled.
"goodnight, love."

“I’m sorry. You did what?” Sirius beseeched, walking into the living room from the kitchen and interrupting the points (arguments) you and Remus were each in the process of making. You gave him an unimpressed look, knowing he wasn’t actually asking you to repeat yourself, he just couldn’t believe what he had heard.
“She gave Mary-Ella over a grand.” Remus muttered bitterly.
“I did not give Mary-Ella money, I loaned her money.” You were quick to correct.
Sirius just scoffed. “Sure you did, dollface.” He sneered, making his usual pet-name burn to the touch. “You are never going to see that money again.”
“What were you thinking?” Remus implored.
“I was thinking that my friend was in a bind and needed help. I hardly think that’s a crime.”
“You didn’t just loan a little bit of money, though. You loaned a lot of money to a friend who is not reliable in the slightest.” Remus asserted.
“We have been working so hard trying to save up to move. To move closer to Diagon Alley so that Remus can be closer to work, and we can finally get out of my uncles flat.” Sirius added.
“I know we’ve been working hard, Sirius. I know this because I too have been working hard. But I’m not going to watch my friend struggle when there’s something I could do to help!”
“This choice impacted all of us. You had no right to make this decision on your own.”
It was your turn to scoff as you turned to glare at Remus incredulously. You had been trying to stay patient, knowing that this close to the moon, Remus was feeling extra sensitive. But him ganging-up on you with Sirius quickly found what little patience you had running thin. “I 'had no right' to make a decision about money that I made on my own?”
“You have no ground to stand on, buttercup. You’re now out more than a grand because of this choice; we’re all out more than a grand because of your choice.” Sirius growled, tone full of derision.
“If the roles were reversed, Mary-Ella would help me out!” You tried to reason, only for Remus to bark a laugh.
“That doesn’t even matter, dove. Because you’d never be in her position and likewise, she’d never be in yours. She’s irresponsible, unreliable, and a mooch.”
You tried to ignore the burning sensation in your sinuses as you spoke to the back of Remus’ head; he apparently had grown so disgusted with you that he couldn’t even look at you anymore.
“I don’t like you talking about my friends like that. I don’t understand why we’re making such a big deal about this, I jus-” but you were cut off as Remus stood abruptly and turned on you.
“We’re making this a big deal because it is a big deal!” he bellowed. “You leave this apartment in the morning and it’s like Sirius and I don’t exist anymore. You conduct yourself like some single woman with no responsibility to anyone else but herself.”
“You’re being selfish. You can’t possibly expect to drop a bomb on us like this and, what, expect us to just reply with ‘yes dear’? You fucked up, Y/N.” Sirius added, arms crossed defensively over his chest and cold silver eyes glared daggers that permeated your entire being. Remus carried on, unperturbed by the effects this conversation was having on you.
You felt like you were seventeen again, like you were eleven, nine, six. You felt like a babe whose hand had been slapped for reasons beyond your comprehension.
Do you ever stop and think about the consequences, Y/N?
You were sitting at the dining room table as your father lashed you with his words, each sentence punctuated with the slamming of his fists on the table. You were standing on the platform having just reunited with your parents after the school year as your mother’s claws dug into your arms, warning you that punishment was to come later if you didn’t smarten up. You were cowering in the backyard as your father screamed at you in front of the entire neighbourhood – a free show for all to enjoy.
You think crying will earn you any sympathy here? You’re a manipulative little witch if you think that will work on me. Keep crying and I’ll give you something to cry about.
You felt naked – like your figurative clothes had been violently ripped from your body – and there you stood, stripped bare for all to leer at. Standing before two people...who were meant to love you unconditionally...as they laced their words with venom and spat vitriol at you.
You couldn’t even hear the point Remus was trying to make anymore. It didn’t matter anyway.
He hated you. You were hated. You were a disappointment, a burden, unwanted.
But you couldn’t cry – could never cry. You’d just be manipulating them. You were deceitful. Emotions were deceitful. The way you felt was wrong. And they were right.
Always right.
So, you did what you always did; you made it quiet.
You began layering rows of stones around your being. Protection. Space. Distance. Safety.
They couldn’t hurt you from all the way in here, not from the other side of your wall. You’d be safe here. Here in the quiet.
It was safe in the quiet.
Tumblr media
Sirius felt disgraceful at how long it took him to notice the signs of you pulling away from the conversation. Away from them. Away from him.
Remus – always more sensitive than the two of you when it came to the likes of money, combined with feeling extra flustered with the upcoming full moon – had no reason to expect nor recognize signs of occlusion.
Suddenly, Sirius was fourteen again. Walburga was standing over him with her wand aimed at his chest, but all he could see was Regulus. He had prayed at the time that his brother could hear him begging in his mind:
Turn it off, Reg. Just turn it off. It can’t hurt you if you turn it off.
Sirius himself sat in an almost constant state of occlusion during his fifth year, knowing somewhere deep in his gut that the beginning of the end of his life as the heir of the Ancient and Most Noble House of Black (or the end of his life in general) was near.
Growing up wasn’t a whole lot easier for you, it seemed. And he knew that when things got to be too much, you did what you needed to do to protect yourself.
He suddenly hated himself. You weren’t supposed to need to protect yourself from him and Remus. It was their job to protect you; just like you always protected them.
How you protected Remus from wasting away on the days leading up to and recovering from the full moon. You never let him go hungry or thirsty, you always made sure the space was clean and tidy, and you never let him fall into his typical pre- and post-moon self-loathing.
And you protected Sirius from himself; from saying things that he wouldn’t be able to take back, from being the worst version of himself, from losing you and Remus completely.
He didn’t deserve you.
You didn’t deserve this.
For fuck’s sake all you had been doing was being kind.
Being a good friend, someone that others could rely on, protecting people who meant so much to you.
All you were doing was being your kind, courteous, protective, generous self that Remus and Sirius had fallen in love with from the very start.
“Moony!” Sirius pleaded, causing the lycanthrope to pause in his tangent. You didn’t even flinch at the sudden change in the atmosphere as Remus looked at Sirius bewilderedly.
“We’ve lost her.” Sirius murmured quietly, causing Remus to spin to observe you.
“Well...” Remus began, still struggling to shake off his anger and the need to argue. “But I-”
“It’s enough, Remus.” Sirius hissed quietly, staring at Remus with a look he hoped conveyed no nonsense.
He apparently succeeded as Remus let out whatever breath he’d been holding as he turned again to face you.
“Dove, I’m sorry.” Remus whispered as he tried to move towards you, but you instinctively took a step back to maintain the distance between you; your arms wrapped around your middle protectively as if that was all that was holding you together.
Sirius’ heart felt like it split in two – and based off of the look on Remus’ face, he wasn’t fairing any better.
“Y/N?” Sirius tried. You didn’t turn to look at him, but you hummed in quasi-acknowledgement.
“Can you look at me?” He tried quietly, but you shook your head no.
Remus made a pained sound as he tried to move towards you again, ducking his head down in an attempt to make eye contact with you. You didn’t back away from him this time, but your arms tightened in their hold around your middle.
“Sweetheart, I’m sorry I...I shouldn’t have spoken to you like that. I’m...I was out of line.”
“Come back?” Sirius pleaded. “Please.”
You took a deep breath and turned your face towards your boyfriends, but Sirius could tell your eyes were still foggy – you were still hiding.
“We won’t talk about it anymore. That conversation is done.” Sirius said.
“But-” you started, voice grating from the tightness in your throat, but he cut you off.
“The conversation is done. You did what you thought was right, you were being your kind lovely self, helping your friend when they needed you. We shouldn’t have yelled at you, sweets. I’m sorry.”
Remus made another pained sound and moved closer to you again.
“Dovey, I’m so sorry. Please, can I- would you like a hug?”
Sirius watched as you looked at Remus, seeming to weigh your options before you nodded once at him. Remus needn’t any more invitation and quickly (though gently) made for you, enveloping you in his arms.
The three of you stayed like that – Remus with his arms around you, you with your arms around yourself and your face pushed into his chest, and Sirius standing helplessly at the side – before Sirius started to notice some tension leaving your shoulders.
“Why’d you go?” He asked you quietly, gently placing a hand in the middle of your shoulder blades and rubbing in a way he hoped was soothing.
“I didn’t want to cry.” You admitted into Remus’ chest, neither boy missing how tight your voice seemed to be, even as your voice barely raised above a whisper.
“Oh, dolly. Just cry. Cry, okay? Make us feel like tossers, but don’t leave.” Sirius said.
“I didn’t want you to feel bad.” You muttered wetly, finally turning so Sirius could see your red and wet face.
“But we deserved it. Oh, my love.” Remus cooed as he all but picked you up and locked your legs around his hips, forcing you to move your grip from around yourself to around him.
“I’m not s’posed to make you cry. I’m s’posed to make you smile.” He muttered pitifully, pressing his lips into your hair.
“And cum.” Sirius spoke in the same pitiful tone, brushing a strand of hair from your forehead.
You laughed wetly and the last of your occlusion appeared to slip away which was what Sirius had been aiming for. It didn’t make him feel all that much better though.
“Oh, my girl. I’m so sorry, Pads is right. You were just being your lovely self, and I’m a bastard.”
Sirius watched as your brows furrowed. “You’re not a bastard.”
“No,” Sirius agreed readily, “he was just being a bastard. Both of us were. Do you think you can forgive us?”
You nodded quickly but Remus tsked in response.
“Don’t let us off so easily, dovey. Make us pay for it. What do you need? Do you need a foot rub? You want cake? Ice cream? What about a kitten? You’ve always wanted a kitten.”
You had been shaking your head at everything Remus said until the last one, your curiosity obviously piqued.
Fuckin’ hells, Sirius thought, if she gets a kitten everytime one of us acts like an arse, we’re going to be overrun with cats by next month.

𝐅𝐀𝐍𝐅𝐈𝐂 𝐌𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓.
WARNINGS: Mentions of child neglect; Jason (not his actual) mom death.
Tumblr media
Contrary to popular belief, Dick was always the son who kept you and Bruce on the edge of your seats.
People were always surprised when you told them this. Probably, because with those blue eyes and adorable dimples, your eldest son knew how to fool people so easily. But the boy had grown up in the circus and had more energy than a thunderbolt. You couldn't count the times you found him hanging from the ceiling lamps, practicing his pirouettes. He was the reason there was a strict rule at Wayne Manor about not taking your feet off the ground without adult supervision.
Jason, your baby, he was easy. People were shocked at this statement as well.
People expected him to be a little savage whenever you guys made a public appearance, whether it was at a gala or going to the market.
Yes. You had to keep him from talking to the press, because he had a habit of being verbally deadly, but other than that he was always the calmest of kids. But other than that, he never left his calm character at all times when being in public and in private as well.
This unfounded popular belief probably had something to do with the boy being taken off the streets by you and your husband. Literally.
Your husband kidnapped a child from an alley in Gotham on a given winter night.
Mmmh, maybe Bruce was your most chaotic boy and not Dick like you thought.
You weren't in the batcave that night, so Alfred was the one supervising the computer. But when it got particularly late, just before the sun began to rise, you woke up to find that your husband still wasn't sleeping clinging to your waist like he usually did. So you decided to go downstairs to see what was going on.
You meet Alfred, waiting with a tray with three cups of freshly brewed tea.
“Are we expecting someone, Alfred?”  you asked as you approached the man preparing everything with elegance.
“That's right, Miss” the man said, looking up with amused eyes “Master Bruce has found company on tonight's patrol” he gave you the look of a father disappointed but not surprised by his son's actions. But before you could say more or ask questions, the sound of the Batmobile in the distance made you approach the platform where the car typically parked.
Bruce jumped out of the car, in his Batman suit, without any injuries that you could see, then leaned over to help a small body out of the vehicle. He was a boy, skinny to the bone, in your eyes, dressed inappropriately for the weather, and looking around with startled eyes. You looked at your husband in confusion, Bruce could practically see the question mark on your forehead. So he walked over to you, while the boy was too gawking at the cave to notice that you guys were talking to the side.
“¿Did you kidnap a child again?” you asked in a worried whisper.
“No” Bruce defended himself, pulling off the hood of his suit so that you could see all of his beautiful face in front of you. “His name is Jason” he explained to you while they both looked at the boy for a moment. Jason had stepped away from the Batmobile to look down at the edge of the platform at the void below you, his cheeks against the metal of the railings. (You were mentally grateful to have convinced Bruce to put those railings all over the cave, after that Dick started spending more time there years ago). “And I found him trying to steal the tires from the Batmobile. He was alone, and he told me that he intended to sell it to buy food” he told you, and you instinctively looked at said car.
That beastly car had almost been desecrated by the little hands of a hungry child, who didn't seem at all affected by the idea of almost robbing THE Batman. You found the situation amusing.
“Really?”, you asked your husband, smiling amused.
All while Jason was looking fascinated at the ceiling of the cave and wondering: ¿Where did the lights hang from?. He couldn't see the roof of the place.
“Yeah. And he almost got away with it.” Bruce seemed almost proud of the boy's actions, and you couldn't feel the same way. Press your lips together in an attempt not to laugh out loud.
“¿And how does all that explain your kidnapping him?” you asked teasingly, to which Bruce rolled his eyes in exoneration and giggled impishly at it.
“You are Bruce Wayne's wife” the boy's voice made them both look at him, but the boy was not intimidated and kept talking. “Which makes sense, because if Bruce Wayne is Batman, obviously his wife will know.” he said, more like a thought out loud than a conversation with you. “My mom used to say that she would die from one of the shoes you put up and that they showed on TV, but in the end she died from the drugs, not your shoes” he explained naturally. To which you threw your head back a bit in surprise at such a natural statement about something that must have been very sad. Looking at your husband and his eyes told you it was the first time he heard about this. “I hope you don't mind, Mrs. Wayne.” the boy apologized quickly, suddenly very aware that he was talking to two of the richest people in Gotham (and the world as well) “B told me I could spend the night here. But don't worry tomorrow, in the morning I'll leave without causing any problems” he quickly explained to you.
You looked at your husband again, and he left a memory in his mind for you to see as an explanation. He showed you how he had found the boy, how Bruce had talked him into agreeing to let him buy something to eat and then offered him a place to sleep, because the boy admitted that he was all alone. With a dead mother and a father who was in prison, the boy lived on the streets of Gotham, surviving as best he could. Jason hadn't trusted him at first, which was understandable. Who knew what he had seen living on the streets of a city like Gotham. So Bruce did the only thing he could think of to gain the boy's trust, so he could get him to safety, as he took off his mask. And Jason, faced with such a show of honesty, agreed to get on the Batmobile to return with Bruce to the cave. (Or, Bruce put the boy in the car before he could get over the shock of the news. It depends on how you look at it.)
“Oh honey. Don't worry, it doesn't bother me at all, we have plenty of space available” you assured him with a sweet smile to which the boy smiled back. It was true, since Dick had moved in with the Titans, there was too much empty space for your liking. “Come, sit down and have some tea, it will help with the cold” you said, pointing up the stairs to the main platform of the cave.
“Cool!” the boy exclaimed as they started walking. Bruce instinctively reached for your hand, not wanting you to stray too far from him, just because.
Then Jason ate a dozen of Alfred's cookies, drank all his tea, and at the end, Bruce let him touch the batcomputer, watching the boy's fascination with all the buttons. (Of course, the latter was under your and Bruce's watch. You didn't want the boy to activate some self-destruct protocol or something). He played with the satellite map for a while, showing you the places he had been and the school he used to go to before his mother died. Then he started to yawn, and you were sure the sun should have risen outside by that point.
“Well, it's time to go up” you said when you saw him yawn widely for the third time. “Come on” you stood up from your seat next to him to offer him your hand. The boy frowned at you, severely confused.
“¿Up where?” he asked, looking at your hand suspiciously, but rising to take it and follow you nonetheless. You had that effect on him. You were so pretty, and warm, and kind that he thought to himself, there was no way you were real, surely all of this must be a cruel hallucination of some kind.
“Up home, Jay” you told her as you turned to be greeted by a Bruce who had already come out of his suit and was waiting for them both on the stairs to the elevator. “We're below Wayne Manor” you explained, thinking that he was confused as to what was above your heads and why they would go there.
“Will you let me sleep in your mansion?!” the surprised boy asked. There was definitely something wrong there, there was no way two of the richest people in the city would let him sleep in his house, in one of his beds, with expensive mattresses and even more expensive sheets. Impossible.
“Of course” you said with a sweet smile, “We have many empty rooms and now one of them is yours”
“Your room is ready, young Jason.” Alfred told him, joining the walk to the elevator. “Though maybe an extra cookie or two was left in the room by accident. I hope that's not a problem for you” he said, smiling complacently, at which the boy laughed mischievously. You gave him a look that Alfred pretended not to catch, and they all went on their way while.
“I didn't think you would let me sleep at your house.” the boy admitted shyly, looking at his shoes, once again thinking aloud.
It took you a second to realize that Jason had thought she'd leave him sleeping in the cave, like a stray dog, and it broke your heart. You promised yourself to do everything you could to make that little boy feel like he deserved nothing less than the best in the world.
Jason didn't leave the mansion after that day.
Social Services didn't put up much resistance to the adoption, for two reasons. Firstly, you and Bruce already had a pretty good record of adopting and raising Dick. And second, stirring up the issue too much would show how they hadn't looked for Jason after he had run away from his last home. From what you've seen, his file only contains basic information leading up to the fact that he was supposed to be in foster care with 10-15 other kids, but clearly they've been on the streets for quite some time. And Jason seemed to have adjusted quickly when the caseworker came to visit for the first few weeks, at least to her standards. But in your eyes, the child was far from having adapted to the idea of being part of the family.
Jason gets up early, before everyone else in the house.
You had learned from the experience with Dick that establishing a strict bedtime schedule was important in the long run. So you knew he was sleeping because you watched him before you went to sleep yourself. So the boy sleeps well and you could confirm it. He had admitted to you that it had been difficult in the early days to sleep at night because he could never really be asleep while living on the streets. Something about the heavy blankets over him made him fall asleep peacefully. His lights went out before he could even finish laying his head on the pillow. Of course, this one you had invested a lot of money in more blankets for the child, which was the only thing that Jason had allowed to be bought for his room.
He assured you that the room was fine as is, and it did not need to be changed. What you'd called bullshit all along, because there was no way a kid would like a room that was the closest thing to a blank page. But you hadn't pushed him, waited until he was more comfortable in the new  environment.
So the boy was sleeping in a guest room he didn't want to make entirely his own. He was up before anyone else in the house, even Alfred. He would get ready and go down to breakfast alone. He got what he needed by scaling the counter and cabinets if necessary, leaving Alfred to clean up the marks on his slippers. This until Jason overheard him, after which he started taking off his sneakers before climbing up to find the cereal. He ate breakfast in silence, looking out the kitchen window at the patio, then washed everything he had used by hand, even though there is a state-of-the-art dishwasher in the kitchen. He then left the kitchen and got lost in the mansion.
Bruce found him in the mansion's library a couple of times. Jason said that he was trying to practice his reading, since he hadn't been to school since before her mom died because he had to take care of her when her dad was arrested. Your husband offered his help, but the boy refused. And since Jay realized that his hideout had been discovered, he began to roam the mansion, picking random rooms to hide in during the day when you and Bruce began to keep him company in the library.
The child hides and avoids both of you. You at first thought that was a repeat of Dick's first few months, that Jason was mad at the world. Consequently, you would expect anger and yelling anytime you ran into Jason around the mansion. You mentally braced yourself for the thought of all that chaos again, how he would sneak out of school when he started once the holidays were over and the whole package was over.
This time, you were ready and prepared to help him with that rage. You won't let it consume you like Dick did for a long time because you didn't know how to handle it. This time you will do well.
But Jason's eyes would light up when you or your husband greeted him in the mornings after meeting him at the house. He clung to the hands of one or both of you every time you went out into the street. He would hug your waist when you hid him from the paparazzi in the park. (You had a no-photos rule for your kids, only official photos approved by you and your husband, so you and the paparazzi didn't have the best relationship in the world.) He let you guys hug him and look at him without problem. He never initiates affection, but he clung to it when it was given to him, both from you and from Bruce, or Alfred even.
So you were confused, to say the least.
However, you had learned your lesson with Dick. There were situations in which you had to be active and aggressive to help your children. So you talked to Bruce and you both decided it was time to talk to Jason about this peculiar pattern.
Then Alfred told you that if they both faced him at the same time, it would be too intimidating for the boy, causing him to shut down more than help.
Blessings be Alfred. He has always been the smartest in the house (don't tell that to Bruce).
Like every night, Jason had already gotten ready and tucked themselves into bed. Also, he had offered to help Alfred with the cleaning like every day, but the butler had refused as he did a lot lately. So he decided to do the whole night routine without bothering you: he brushed his teeth, put on his pajamas, got into bed and read a book, like you usually offer to do. It cost him less than before, but still some words were complicated.
You arrived shortly after he had finished reading his fourth story of the night and had accidentally gotten hooked on reading another one. You knocked on the door softly as you opened it.
“Oh, you're already in bed,” you commented, surprised that the boy had done everything himself. Usually, he lets you help with all of this without a problem, so you're disappointed that he won't let you help him.
“Yes, and I just read one story,” he said, quickly trying to hide that he had disobeyed the one-story rule. Jason didn't want you to be angry. He knew you wouldn't hurt him, but he feared your disappointment more than your fury.
“Really?”, you asked excitedly. You knew how hard he had worked to improve his reading these past few weeks to prepare for school. “That's amazing, honey,” you told him as you closed the door softly and walked to sit next to him. Jason smiled happily at your tone of pure joy and pride in his accomplishment.
“Yes,” Jason said as he closed the book and left it on the nightstand, excited to tell you about his progress, “I still have a hard time with some words. But I will fix it before school starts.” He made it clear to you right away, so don't worry.
The truth is that Jason didn't want to bother. Not you, not Alfred, not Bruce. In his mind, that was the way to be a good son. That was what his parents had taught him.
Willis Todd hated it when Jason was in the way. He always ran into him around the house (although that was probably beer-related), and that ended badly for Jason. So Jason learned quickly to stay out of the way so as not to be in the way, not in the sight of his parents, because that was good. His mother never said anything against that arrangement, so he always assumed she agreed.
When his dad left, disappearing without any notice (Jason eventually found out on the streets that he had been arrested and sent to prison), it became difficult for his mom not to see him since she had to do everything. But she was too high to notice half the time. And the other half, when she was aware of him, she wasn't aggressive towards him, she went from hugging him lovingly to crying on her shoulder. As if Catherine were the child and Jason was the father, she was comforting. Then she didn't get up after one dose, and the police came after he called an elderly woman who lived next door to her to ask her to call an ambulance. Then they put him in a couple of foster homes. But no one paid much attention to him, and it wasn't worth putting up with the other children, especially the older ones, who enjoyed tormenting him for being smaller. So he ended up on the street, taking care of himself. It was more natural for him to depend on himself alone than to let them take care of him.
“Well,” you said, settling next to him against the headboard, “but there's no need for that. That's why you're going to school — to learn,” you explained as you ran your hand through his curls. “It's okay if you don't know everything before that.”
“But I don't want to be behind the rest of my classmates, they surely already know how to read very well,” he explained regretfully, somewhat embarrassed.
Only once had his parents been called to the school he had gone to in Park Row. The teacher meant well, for sure. But telling her father that Jason seemed to need a little more help than usual with his reading and that it would be a good idea to move him to a school with a special program for kids like him only made her father see it. And that was never something good. He didn't want you to feel upset with him for that, either.
“It doesn't matter what other children know or don't know, Jason,” you assured him lovingly. “It matters that you learn without fear of not knowing. It's not a bad thing to not know how to do something that's hard for you to do, sometimes,” you tried to explain, and the boy nodded slowly, processing the information you had given him.
Jason thought for a moment, absorbing what you said, but he was not sure how to respond in a way that would make you happy but not be a nuisance to your daily life. But you didn't let him get to a question because you asked him one in return.
“Jason, my dear,” you called, breaking the boy from his thoughts, who looked at you with big, blue eyes. So precious your baby was. “I have a very important question for you, and I need you to answer me honestly,” you asked him seriously, to which the boy adjusted himself with a worried frown to face you more.
It reminded you of Bruce, who made the same gestures when you talked to him seriously.
Your heart tightened with pride at how your two boys, Dick and Jason, were beginning to imitate Bruce so soon after meeting him. Despite all of his doubts, he was someone the kids immediately looked to as an example. You reminded him repeatedly, despite his complaints, because he needed to be reminded that being Batman wasn't the only way he could make a difference to people. He did it every day in his home, with your children, and with you.
“Yes, Mrs. Wayne - Sorry, y/n,” he corrected himself quickly, but you thought nothing of it despite the way he cringed in place at his own mistake.
“Jay, do you like being here with me, with Bruce, and with Alfred? Are you happy being part of this family?” you asked a little fearfully, sounding as soft as possible so that it didn't feel like an interrogation.
Jason was stunned. His blue eyes looked at you in confusion: Why would you ask such a question? Of course, he was happy, Jason had everything he could need to survive and the company of you and Bruce. Why would you think he wasn't happy with you?
You saw the confusion painted on his face the moment you asked, so you decided to elaborate a little more on the situation.
“You see, Bruce and I have noticed that you don't seem to be around the house much even though you're here. You even get up to have breakfast alone. It seems like you are hiding from us, Jay. Which is why Bruce and I are worried” you began to explain in a soft tone, “Did something happen? Is there something bothering you?
“No, there's nothing that bothers me,” Jason assured quickly, so worried about the situation. “I just don't want to be in the middle,” the boy explained, as if it were the most normal thing in the world. Which made your heart break, and you wondered why he would believe that.
Would there have been any comments from you or Bruce?
Or something you guys did that gave Jason that impression?
Whatever it was, it needed a solution because it couldn't be further from the truth. Personally, you had missed having a child in the house, and so had Bruce, despite his attempt to pretend that Dick's departure hadn't bothered him.
Your husband and eldest son had a very ugly fight before he went to live in the Teen Titans Tower. He had arranged for you and Alfred to serve as intermediates. But that didn't change your oldest son's decision to move out of the house. A lot of his stuff was still at Wayne Manor, but he wasn't, which made it a little depressing for you.
“Why do you think you're in the middle?” you asked sadly.
“Well, I know it bothers adults when kids are all over them needing things and asking questions. So I try not to be too intense with you because I am very grateful because now I am part of the family.” Jason shrugged as he looked at his hands, trying to remove his cuticles. A nervous habit that you had noticed.
Unsure of what to do, you played it safe and hugged Jason over the shoulder with one arm, holding him close to you, while with your other free hand, you stopped the suggestion of pinching your cuticles by taking his hand and caressing his plasma instead.
You thought for a moment about how you could handle the whole situation without the need to abruptly destroy the belief system and give it a crisis. You also didn't want all of this to sound like a reprimand for believing something that couldn't be further from the truth, because it wasn't his fault. But you weren't going to leave things like that.
“You know, Jay. Bruce and I are not like other adults," you started feeling a little like Mean Girls' mom and her 'I'm not a regular mom, I'm a cool mom', which made you want to roll your eyes, but you kept going. “We love having you around. Dick got us used to that, you know, so we’d love for you to get in the middle as much as you like Jay,” you explained, and the boy looked at you with wide eyes, a gleam of hope in them.
“Really?” he asked doubtfully.
“Really serious,” you assured him with a smile, which Jason couldn’t help but quickly spread. “Besides, you can always know without a doubt that as long as you are in the middle of your father and mine, you will never have to worry about anything. Because you will be safe and sound,” you assured him gently, moving a hair from his forehead and then kissing the area lovingly.
“I like that,” Jason whispered, as if the thought had escaped him, looking at you with stars in his eyes. He really liked that idea.
Jason ran down the stairs while you calmly entered the house with bags of clothes in hand. Alfred was behind you with more bags and resigned to the fact that you had once again bought extra clothes for the whole family. Yes, you also bought him a couple of new sweaters, the kind he liked, but he insisted they were too expensive.
You didn't finish passing through the living room towards the stairs when Jason ran up and hugged your waist without thinking twice. Now, at thirteen years old, it would probably be time for you to start asking him to take care of the force with which he threw himself into his arms whenever he saw you. But the truth is that you didn't want him to. If you two fell, so be it, but you would never ask Jason to walk away. Not after what it was like the first time your son was in the house.
“Hello, sweet boy,” you said to Jason while hugging as best you could with the bags in your arms. “I got you another one of those hoodies that you said you liked. I got it in red, I thought that color would look good on you”.
Jason didn't stop hugging your waist as the three of you went upstairs to leave the bags so he could try on what you had bought him. Nor when, after trying everything on and being satisfied with his new clothes, you went back downstairs to have tea and eat cookies in the library. Not even when the two of them left there to greet Bruce when he arrived late from the Wayne Enterprise, and he received the same hug, but with more balance than you. Dick arrived, and Jason was still clinging to your waist until all sat down to eat dinner.
“Was I like that?” Dick asked in a mocking whisper to Alfred.
“Was?” mocked back the butler “Master Dick, you are still exactly like that”

Newbie
You meet Kika for the first time
Kika Nazareth x teen!reader
Part of the Scrubber universe
Tumblr media
GIF credits: @a-lexia11
masterlist
Warnings: ✖️
A/N: i love kika so much 🥹 her good vibes are off the charts and because of that i really think she’d get on with scrubber well so here’s a blurb of those two
for the sake of my own happiness lucy is still thriving in sunny cataluña.
“Kika!”
You sat up rapidly as you heard Aitana speak, and the foam roller slipped out from beneath your leg and rolled away slowly. You looked around curiously, and everyone was spread out yet bunched together as they swarmed the three new additions to the team. You were just barely familiar with Ellie Roebuck from following each other on Instagram and you were more than familiar with Ewa Pajor through your mutual ties with her that existed through Frido and Ingrid. However, the girl that Aitana had beelined to, you hadn’t ever met her or known of her. A hand belonging to Mapi tugged you up from the ground and dragged you along to meet the new transfers, and you happily did so.
“You’ve grown so much from the last time I saw you!” Ewa gushed, smiling fondly at you to which you returned the gesture. The last time you had seen Ewa was during the 2023 Champions League final, when you weren’t a main player in the team but merely a reserve. It was an experience either way and Ewa was right — you had grown, physically and as a player. Throughout your entire little conversations with Ewa and Ellie, you could only think about meeting the unfamiliar one. You slunk away from the conversations with the Englishwoman and the striker before approaching Aitana and the final transfer.
“…miss Benfica a lot, actually, because this is my first time playing away from home,” she said to Aitana, who nodded along understandingly as you spoke, until you appeared by her side and her face lit up.
“Kika, I need to introduce you to (Y/N), mi pequeñita,” Aitana exclaimed, wrapping an arm around your shoulder. You smiled at the woman across from you, who grinned back. “Hola! I’m Kika,” she introduced herself. You already liked her; just the way she spoke and smiled at you gave the impression that she’d fit right into the team, and most importantly, get along with everyone. “I’m (Y/N),” you responded, but before you could continue and say anything else, you were engulfed in a warm hug by the Portuguese woman. It was yet another reason for you to like her, so you gratefully accepted the hug.
“I’ve watched you before, and all I can say is, I’m glad we’re on the same team,” Kika laughed, making your cheeks swell up with a rosy tint. Aitana nodded and squeezed your arm affectionately, “That means you’re already Barça. We feel like that everyday, ask Caroline.” She giggled and looked at Caro standing a little to the side of her, rolling her eyes with a smile.
“I’m alright…” you mumbled, shuffling around nervously with an awkward smile. To this day, you still weren’t the best at compliment-taking — especially from people way better and experienced than you — despite the amount of compliments you received often. It was still insane to you that the likes of Mapi and Irene complimented you on your defending, when they were the ones that deserved all the lauding more than anything.
“You’re more than alright, pequeñita,” Aitana scoffed, nudging you softly, “Te lo juro, Kika, sin ella no tendríamos la tercera Liga de Campeones.”
“Aitana, do you forget that you scored a goal in that final as well?” you laughed, and she shook her head earnestly. “No, and I definitely don’t forget who assisted me,” she responded with a light elbow to your side, which made you laugh even more. Kika joined in on the giggles until it all died down, and you invited them both back to your pre-workout stretches station. There, you three sat down and continued the conversation, until Aitana got up to do a workout with Fridolina and the weighted ball, leaving just you and Kika.
“You came from Benfica, right? Unless I’ve been hearing things,” you asked her, feeling relieved when she nodded. “Yeah, I’ve been there my entire career. It’s been a bit tough, adapting to Spain when I’ve lived in Portugal my whole life, but I love it here. What about you?” she explained.
You placed the foam roller back underneath your legs as you spoke, “I’ve more or less lived in Barna my entire life. I was in France for a couple years but I hated it so I kinda block it out from my memory. It sucked.” Kika laughed at your statement, inciting a smile from you. “Can you speak any French?” she asked, and you shook your head.
“Besides bonjour, au revoir, si vous plait and je suis (Y/N), I’m hopeless. If you ever want lessons, go to Lucy,” you replied, glancing at Lucy before nodding your head in her direction. Kika smiled and looked at Lucy as well, shooting her a charming grin before gazing back at you.
You liked her, a lot. She was nice and easy to get along with, she wasn’t super serious which was a big thing for you and she didn’t baby you any more than the others which was an even bigger thing. Kika was a very smart transfer for the club to have made, and you could see her becoming part of the family very soon. Her being close with Aitana was already a good start to that pursuit, and you knew it wouldn’t be long before the others warmed up to her.
“Are you any good at Catalan?” she asked you, and you hesitated before nodding, “I think so.” She sighed a breath of relief and lunged over to grab her own foam roller, placing it beneath her calf as she spoke, “Good, because I need a teacher for that. I’m not terrible, but I’m definitely not fluent yet. I tried to get Aitana to teach me but she talks too fast, it’s hard to keep up!”
With a lighthearted giggle, you nodded, moving the foam roller from your left leg to your right one. Kika continued rolling her left calf, bracing the floor for leverage and balance as she did so.
“How old are you, (Y/N)? Aita’s told me in the past but I can’t remember at all. You’re around my age, sí? 20, maybe 21 like me,” Kika spoke, shaking her head briefly at her own forgetfulness. You shrugged it off lightly, “Don’t worry about it. I’m– um, I’m actually 16,” you said nervously, smiling at the shocked expression on the woman’s face when you revealed your age.
“16 years old? Dios mío, and you’re a defender? What do they feed the kids at this club, gosh…” she muttered. Your cheeks flushed pink and your smile widened, tugging at your cheeks as you gazed down shyly, not a word coming out but your reaction spoke for itself. “Wait, so, where do you live? Do you go to school?” she questioned, intrigue capturing her facials expressions as she looked at you eagerly.
“My family don’t live in Barna, not anymore. I live with Irene most of the time but I just bounce around between apartments, and I attend classes at the academy,” you explained. “Oh, and I don’t think you’ll fully settle into the city unless you go to one of the cafés downtown. My favourite one is 5 minutes down the road, maybe we could go there after this?”
Kika was on board before you had even finished proposing your idea. After training, you pulled your hoodie over the top of your kit and left the grounds with your new friend, saying goodbye to everyone and explaining to them that you were steering her away from ‘guiri’ accusation territory.
You two walked down the streets, admiring the shops and cafés that were full of people, and on occasion, pointing out the Barça crests and flags displayed in the windows of buildings. You didn’t have a car yet, let alone a license, so you normally caught a ride with someone else, but it was nice to stroll down the streets of the city with Kika and introduce her to the place you called home. Eventually, your adventure came to a close when you found yourselves outside your favourite café of all time, before you walked into the entrance and took a seat right by the window.
The café was furnished with two-seat tables all around and a large display of everything you could imagine, from sandwiches, quiches and savoury muffins to decadent cakes and pastries. The comforting aroma of tea and other brews wafted through the air and only added to the warm atmosphere emitted from every corner of the room. You placed your bag down beside your chair, resting your hands on your thighs as Kika did a similar thing and relaxed her hands on the table. She looked around with an admiring gleam in her eyes before meeting your watchful gaze with an appreciative smile. “This is a lovely café, I can see why it’s your favourite.”
“Wait until you try the food, it’s even better,” you responded with a cheeky grin of your own, making the pair of you laugh simultaneously. “Do you want to go up and order first? I’ll stay here and watch our stuff and then I’ll order,” you said, gesturing for her to go up to the counter. She agreed, and you waited for a couple minutes until the woman returned to your table with her food; an iced tea, chocolate muffin and an apple danish. “I was going to order something healthy but I do not feel like vegetables right now,” she grimaced, placing her food down on the table slowly.
“I’ll be quick,” you said as you stood up and made your own way to the counter, ordering your own choice of food. You settled on an almond and icing sugar dusted croissant along with a cup of tea and a platter of mini donut bites. Once you received your order, you balanced your meal on your hands and carefully walked back to the table, talking slow steps until you reached Kika and placed it all down hurriedly, sinking into your seat once again. “Oh, yum,” she remarked, eyeing up your food before teasing you, “You’re making me regret getting this.”
You didn’t respond, because you knew from the moment she sunk her teeth into the chocolate muffin, her mind would change immediately, and you were correct — her eyes widened once she got a taste of the rich chocolatey goodness she possessed, and then they closed for a good minute as she savoured the taste. “Nevermind,” she mumbled between her mouthful, “You can keep it. This is th’ best thing ever!”
You looked at her with an ‘I knew it’ expression, which made her smile as she swallowed her bite and placed the muffin down atop its paper bag. You took a sip of your tea and then threw a donut bite in your mouth, offering one to Kika as you did so, who took one and thanked you with a nod of her head.
“So, you said you go to school at the academy. How is that?” she enquired. Unlike other teenagers who probably got sick and tired of being asked about how school is going, you actually didn’t mind. School was rarely a subject of interest for people when it came to your life, so it was kinda nice to know that someone was making the effort to know you outside of football. “It’s alright. Since the Champions League they’ve been letting me off easy with homework and stuff, so that’s pretty nice,” you answered with a shrug, “Some of the classes suck, like maths, but other than that it’s not too bad.”
“Any friends?” Kika continued, to which you nodded. “Well, I wouldn’t consider them friends, because I don’t talk to them outside of class since we’re all busy with our teams, but I’m okay with most of the people I take classes with. Some of them that play for the men’s first team, I’d call them my friends, but that’s it. I just hang out with the girls in our team,” you explained, “I love them all though, they’re the only friends I need.” Kika made an ‘oh’ expression to signify her understanding, and she nodded to further stress that.
“Yeah, I went to a regular school when I was still in school, and it’s much easier to take your classes in an academy like La Masia where everyone understands that your priorities are in football,” Kika said, taking another bite of her muffin. She paused for a minute to chew, and then she spoke again once she had swallowed it, “When you have friends that are always upset over you not having time to hang out because of football, it becomes a pain in the ass.”
You took a sip of your tea, wincing slightly as you adjusted to the piping hot temperature. “Yeah, I get that. I think we’re gonna get along really well, Kika,” you smiled warmly, invoking one on her own face. She was glad to have made a significant first impression, especially with you, the baby of the team. They undoubtedly loved you, and she was already on the path to joining them, enamoured with how friendly you were to her straight away.
The conversation strayed into talks about Portugal, and what it was like for Kika when she lived there. She told you about Benfica, her favourite restaurants in her hometown of Lisbon, her family and what made her want to play for Barça. You learnt a lot about her during that short café date, and in exchange, you told her more about your personal life and what you loved most; Vidić, slide tackles, your big sisters and Barcelona (the club and city). There were also the trivial things you loved that you decided to save for another day, like your love for Hay Day that she was sure to discover sooner or later.
You two shared the rest of the donut bites after you finished your muffin and croissant. She split her apple danish with you, which you gracefully accepted and thanked her for, and the conversation continued up until the last of the donut bites was gone and you were both stuffed.
“See why it’s my favourite café?” you said to the woman, and she nodded. “I’m definitely coming back, that chocolate muffin was delicious,” she groaned, scrunching her paper bag up. You both stood and grabbed your training bags, slinging them over your shoulders, and on the way out you tossed your rubbish into the bins, thanking the café owner. The pair of you strolled to Kika’s new apartment, and you learned that she was barely 5 minutes away from Irene’s home that was situated just around the corner: “That’s great!” she exclaimed happily as you two neared her home, “That means café dates can happen more often.”
Walking Kika up to the front door of her apartment, you peered inside and got a look of the cozy area. You were surprised at how furnished it was, because you were under the impression that she had only recently arrived in the city, but it didn’t seem that way anymore. “Your apartment is so nice…” you whispered, looking around a little bit more before pulling your head out, “I’ll see you tomorrow, thanks for coming with me!”
She embraced you in another warm hug before you left, smiling widely as she spoke, “I should be thanking you! It’ll be much easier at training tomorrow, knowing two people instead of just one.”
You waved goodbye to her and she returned the gesture before she shut the door. It didn’t take long you to be standing on Irene’s doorstep, unlocking the door with your key and slipping inside. She had known about your plans to go to the café with Kika, so she wasn’t alarmed when you came home particularly late, and instead she asked you about it.
“I love her, she’s great!” you lauded, flopping down beside her on the sofa, “I think we get along really well, and I can’t wait for her to meet Clau and Patri.”
“Oh no,” Irene groaned, shaking her head. “Do not introduce her into your trio of tontos,” she exclaimed. You shrugged, leaning back on the sofa, “I won’t, but the other two will probably do it on their own.”
She let out an exasperated sigh, looking at you with an eyebrow raised.
“Please don’t ban us from seeing each other again,” you begged, looking at her with a grimace. She shook her head, dismissing the idea. “No, because the last time we tried that, you three rode those jet skis at the Barceloneta.”
“Okay, that was not my idea, and you should blame Claudia for that… but it was really fun and it would be nice if you let us go again,” you said quietly, looking at her with an indicative expression.
“…Fine. I guess it would be okay, only if the rest of us come and we make it a beach day.”
“Deal!”

Her name // Alessia Russo ~ Lionesses!reader
Italics = flashbacks
TW: spain not winning the wc, disgusting pregnancy cravings, pure Lessi girl fluff
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“But baby can’t you just tell me what it starts with?” Alessia whined as she laid her head in your lap, kissing your heavily pregnant bump in the process.
“You said it was my choice since you got the last name. You’ll know in three weeks. Now, your daughter wants a pickle and peanut butter sandwich. Can you make her one?”
“You and your weird cravings mia ragazza (my girl)” She mumbles into your bump before getting up, kissing you on the way out. While Alessia makes your daughter her weird sandwich, your mind drifts off to how you got to this position.
You transferred from Barcelona at 25, wanting to have a little bit more of a challenge in your league career. Alessia joined two years prior to your arrival and was smitten from the moment she met you. Kyra, Lotte and Emily gave her so much shit for not acting on her feelings. It wasn’t until an impressive half a season that you went to your second Lionesses camp, which is surprisingly the World Cup.
Sitting alone on a little secluded beach next to the hotel got you thinking about many things. A few of your teammates were playing beach football and you watched, even though they attempted many times to play. You snuggle into your hoodie more as the sun sets and cold temperature appears for the night. A crunch of a branch makes you turn to see the blue eyed, blonde haired beauty you’ve grown to love. Alessia sits next to you in the little cave and drapes the blanket over the both of you, making her close to you.
“I saw you out here in just your hoodie and shorts so I thought you could use this”
“That’s so thoughtful, thank you Lessi”
You two talk for hours and hours, you missed the texts and calls from your teammates. It wasn’t until you see flashlights that you know it’s late. You both get up and walk with Rachel and Millie back to the hotel.
A few weeks later is the final of the world cup and you and Alessia are starting up front. The Spanish are putting up a good fight after scoring in the 29th minute, courtesy of Olga. Hemp scores early in the second half, levelling the score. England have a corner in what could be the last play of the game and you and Alessia are standing next to each other.
“You have this, go for it”
The hand is raised. Focus is on the ball. You can see it’s headed straight for you so you time your jump perfectly and head the ball towards the goal. You couldn’t believe it. You might have won the world cup for your country. The familiar swoosh of the net was heard and you ran to the corner post doing a salsa dance celebration before the team dogpile you. The ref blows her whistle to restart and tears are forming in your eyes as you look at the screen that shows 95:00. There was only six minutes of added time. England hold off the Spanish for another minute and then the final whistle is blown.
You are a world champion.
You won it for your country.
Falling to the ground, you start crying until you feel arms around your shoulders.
“You’ve done well Y/N. Go celebrate with your friends” Sarina pulls you up and into a hug before you run off to the one person you want to celebrate with.
You see Alessia in the distance hugging it out with Ella and on your way over, you are stopped by multiple Barcelona and English players congratulating you. Alessia catches your eye and runs over to you, hugging you tightly.
“We did it!” You say with all the adrenaline running through your veins.
“I could kiss you right now”
“I dare you”
Alessia smashes her lips on yours and you don’t regret it one bit.
“Best day ever”
“Baby, princess, anyone home?” Alessia asks as she taps your temple gently with her pointer finger.
“Sorry, thanks my love” You give her a soft kiss as she sits next to you and pulls you in between her legs.
“What were you thinking about?”
“The world cup final” Alessia smiles at that memory, one of her favourites.
Three and a half weeks later at 2:30 in the morning, you went into labour. You immediately started to freak out but Alessia calmed you down with some breathing exercises and words of encouragement. A short 14 hours later, your baby girl came out screaming her little lungs away. Alessia cuts the cord and the nurses asks her if she wants to hold her. Alessia whispers that she wants you to hold her first. The nurse takes her over to you and you move the gown for skin to skin contact.
You hold your little girl and you fall in love immediately. Alessia falls in love with you all over again and shares that love to your little girl you are yet to name. You move over and gesture Alessia to sit next to you. She puts her arm behind you and runs her finger ever so gently down your princess’ small cheek.
“Hi my little Aria. I love you so much and so does your Mama. You have so many aunties that love you and two crazy but sweet uncles that can’t wait to play with you” You look at Alessia and she’s crying at the sound of her name.
“Aria Mia Russo, meet your mama”
You place Aria in Alessia’s arms and you lean on her upper arm. For what feels like hours, you are just staring at your bundle of joy. You give Aria a quick feed before Alessia puts her in the cot and cuddles up to you.
“What do you think of her name?” You say tiredly.
“I think it’s beautiful, just like her mummy”
You give Alessia a kiss before the both of you get a quick nap in before the family comes to visit Aria.
"Do You Want to Dance Too?"
[Bucky Barnes x fem!reader]
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Summary: After a very rare date with your boyfriend, it starts to rain and you two find yourselves stuck in a cafe with no way to get home without being soaked.
Warnings: none! Just fluff
Word Count: 1.1k words
(A/n: First attempt at a fanfic. I thought about this when I was trying to sleep and I really wanted to write it down.)
You curse under your breath as James and you quickly run to the small cafe at the end of the empty street. The rain started just a few moments ago, so it wasn't bad now, but you had a feeling it would only get worse.
You finally make it through the door, only slightly wet.
"Nice end to the day," he mumbles, clearly unhappy.
You sigh and take a seat at your usual table when Ella, a good friend of yours, pops up behind the counter.
"Well, this is a surprise," the barista says. "Thought I was finally going to be able to go through the whole day without you showing up."
"Ha ha," you muse, "Get us some hot chocolate."
She rolls her eyes but goes to make the order nonetheless.
James takes a seat next to you, glaring out the window as if that would stop the rain. The rain didn't take kindly to that as it starts a downpour, confirming your earlier suspicion.
He grumbles, and you take his hand in yours.
"Tonight was nice," you say gently.
"It could've been better."
You shake your head, "You can't control the weather, love."
But you could understand his frustration. You rarely got to spend much time together as it was.
You usually only see each other at night but by then are too exhausted to do anything other than eat and sleep.
James and you had started dating a few months ago, but you had known each other for years before then. You used to be an Avenger, but you quit after Steve left. First, it had been out of grief from your best friends; then it changed to you not wanting that kind of life anymore.
James was still very much in it—he was a soldier first, after all—and, as long as he didn't get himself killed, you were okay with that.
You unconsciously trace a small scar on his palm as Ella brings you the hot cocoas.
"Okay, here's the deal," she starts, "I have to close up in 45 minutes. You guys can stay to try to wait the rain out."
"Do you at least have an umbrella we can borrow?" you ask.
"Nope. I even gave mine to an old lady."
"And you can't let us stay?"
"Nada."
It's your turn to grumble, "Fine."
Ella shrugs, "I need to clean up," she says before making her leave.
James is still glaring out of the window when he suddenly turns his stare on you.
"This is why we should've taken the car," he concludes.
You are taken aback, "So it's my fault for suggesting that we walk for 20 minutes to the restaurant?"
"Guess so."
You scoff, "You are on very thin ice here, Barnes."
He raises an eyebrow, "Are you threatening me?"
"Guess so," you mimic.
"What are you going to do?" he asks, amused.
"Do you want to sleep on the couch?"
He scoffs at your threat but doesn't say anything else.
Smart man.
You sip your hot cocoas in silence.
Then, suddenly, you're laughing. James looks at you with an amused grin.
"I can make you sleep on the couch," you say, still giggling.
You poke his chest, and he starts laughing too.
"I know you can, dear. I know you can."
He grabs your chin with his right hand, tilting your head so you look him directly in the eye.
"What would I do without you?" he wonders out loud.
"It's too awful to think about," you joke.
He laughs again before pressing his lips against yours.
You sigh in the kiss. It's difficult to think you were once distrusting of the super soldier you had grown to love. Now you trusted him with everything you had and more.
It took a long time for you to see the ex-Winter Soldier's true nature. His gentle, shy yet annoyingly protective nature.
Too long.
He breaks off the kiss with a small smile.
"We should finish the hot cocoa before it gets cold," James suggests.
"Hot cocoa is more important than kissing your girlfriend?" you pout.
He shrugs, "It's good hot chocolate."
You don't deny his statement.
It's your turn to look out of the window. As rain bangs on the roof and glass of the small cafe, it seems to play out a rather aggressive tune. You don't like when it rains. It brings back rather painful memories, but you've learned that countering the bad memories with good ones helps make peace with the pain caused in a moment.
That gives you an idea.
"Do you want to sprint for it now?" you ask randomly.
The super soldier nearly spits out his cocoa, "What?"
"It's probably only gonna get worse, and we are going to have to eventually."
"Do you want to dance too?" he says sarcastically.
Your eyes light up at the idea, "Can we?"
James' eyes widen, "I meant it as a joke."
"But why not? It's as cliche as dancing in the apartment," you point out, "Besides, it'll be fun."
He shakes his head, "We are not dancing in the rain."
"But—"
"It's way too cold, and the last time you got sick, you couldn't get out of bed for a week."
You try to hide your wince by pouting, "Fine. No dancing."
He sighs, "But maybe we should go soon. It does look like it's going to get worse."
"So let's go then."
~~~
"Wait up!"
James' voice is nearly lost in the rain. You keep running, knowing full well he could catch up with you within a minute.
Or maybe he couldn't. You are pretty fast.
You laugh into the wind, your mouth filling with water as the painfully large raindrops hit your face.
You sprint in the direction you think is your house and try to calm the leather jacket that James gave you by wrapping it around your torso.
While doing so, you accidentally stumble on your feet and go flying forward.
Strong arms wrap around you within a moment, one made out of a now freezing metal.
"I got you," Bucky assures, "I got you."
You hear him loud and clear now despite his voice barely being above a whisper. The drumming of rain seems like an irrelevant background noise.
You turn to him, grinning like an idiot. His hair is stuck to his face. He shakes his head at you but is unable to hide his own smile.
No words need to be exchanged in the moment as his hands rest on your waist, and your arms loop around his neck.
You look at James with possibly all the love you hold and softly press your lips against his. It is easy to forget everything with him, even easier to forget the bad things.
He puts his arm on your neck and pulls away. "You're going to get sick."
"I've accepted it," you confess quickly, chasing his lips.
He shakes his head again but lets you kiss him regardless.
You got sick for a week afterward, but it was well worth it. Especially when you had James looking after you.

Harvey gently lets the needle of his record player caress the notches of the vinyl; after a skip, his apartment is filled with the soft melody of Ella Fitzgerald— he hums, content.
The apartment itself is unremarkable, a guest would consider it lived-in, cozy perhaps, but as the doctor looks around his living room all he can see is mess. Abandoned laundry draped over his plush red sofa, dishes waiting patiently to be washed after his microwaved dinner, and his newest TAMIYA model plane yearning to be completed.
Although the glow of the early winter sunset through his window paints a picture of comfort, it’s certainly a bachelor’s flat.
He walks to his kitchenette, stretching his tense shoulders, as he discards the dirty dishes into the sink and grabs a wine glass. Placing the glass onto the small dining table, Harvey considers which wine to indulge himself with tonight; after some performative consideration his reaches again for his usual Merlot— he chuckles to himself, realizing that he has always been a predictable creature of habit.
He pulls out the only chair at the table, bringing the glass to his moustached lips before being interrupted by the ringing of his phone. Glancing at the caller ID, he smirks. Had it been anyone else interrupting his evening, he would have been rather disappointed.
“Elliot, what do I owe the pleasure?” He says, moving from his place in the kitchenette to turn his music down, wine glass comfortably in his grip.
“Harvey! I don’t suppose you’re free tonight?” Elliot sings down the phone, “We haven’t been able to catch-up in quite a while, and I’m finally finished with the first draft of my newest manuscript!”
Elliot has always been a good friend to Harvey since the writer moved to Pelican Town over a year ago— although excentric in his own ways, Harvey has always appreciated having someone else in town to rely on for advice and wine recommendations.
“Congratulations, but I’m afraid I can’t tonight,” The doctor sighs, looking down at his drink, “I’m… rather busy this evening.”
“Lying will get you nowhere, my friend,” Elliot chuckles, “I have it on good authority that the clinic has been empty all day, and besides I still owe you a drink.”
“Yes well,” Harvey racks his brain for an excuse, pacing around his small living area, “The clinic being empty is a blessing, but the medical files won’t update themselves.”
“Very well,” Elliot sighs, melodrama has always been the writer’s strength, “Perhaps another time then.”
Harvey drops his phone unceremoniously, guilt infesting his mind. He could very well have finished his wine, grabbed his favourite green coat from the hook on the front door and travelled down to the saloon. Despite himself, however, he finds himself returning to the dining room table to pour the last of the Merlot into his glass.
Despite knowing every citizen of Pelican town after years of check-ups and festivals, he’s found himself drawn to isolation. Not that he didn’t adore the village and all of it’s quirks, he had just grown despondent over the recent weeks: stressed from his medical work, bored of his own repetitive routine, and— if Harvey is being honest with himself— hopeless. Winter tends to shine a spotlight on your own loneliness, particularly after an unremarkable birthday spent working.
After finishing the last of his wine, Harvey places the glass into the ever-filling sink and combs a hand through his brunette hair. The grandfather clock in the corner ticks away the minutes, echoing through the silent apartment. He sighs, the weight of the day finally settling in as he loosens his tie and prepares for bed. The soft glow of his bedside lamp casts a warm hue on the room, a lone figure moving through the routine of solitude. Perhaps the new year will be better. Perhaps, at the very least, it will provide Harvey with the change he so desperately needs. He thought about praying for such a change, but Harvey has never been a religious man; instead, he begins to dream.
The next morning, sunlight filters through the half-open blinds, painting streaks of gold across the bedroom floor. Harvey stretches, the stiffness in his shoulders a testament to a night’s restless sleep. The clock on the bedside table blinks 7:30AM. Harvey walks down the rickety stairs to the clinic, the call of songbirds outside travelling through the open windows— a melody that almost makes the dispassionate off-white of the practices’ hallway feel a little more pleasant.
“Good morning Maru,” Harvey waves, spotting the coily pink hair of the nurse behind the front desk. He adjusts his tie as he slips into his doctors coat, “You’re here early, what’s the occasion?”
Maru chuckles as she relaxes into the uncomfortable blue office chair, “What? I can’t come in bright and early to start the year right with some administrative work?”
Harvey scoffs, a smirk tugging on his lips, “Frankly, I would have thought people your age are preoccupied nursing hangovers on the first day of the new year— although your help is always appreciated.”
“Well frankly,” Maru imitates the older man, “I can’t believe you take me for such a party animal, Doctor Greenwood. How about I run out and get us some coffee, hm?”
“Have I ever told you how wonderful you are, Maru?”
“Not nearly enough,” Maru giggles, standing up from behind the reception desk to leave before stopping with a gasp “Oh, I almost forgot to tell you— we received an application for someone new to register with our clinic, their paperwork is on your desk.”
The bell on the clinic’s front door chimes as Maru exits, leaving Harvey baffled at the implication of a new patient. With the exception of Elliot last year, nobody has moved into the valley in a very long time. Perhaps with more excitement than is needed, Harvey dashes to his office; sure enough, a single document lays on his desk.
APPLICATION FOR REGISTRY, PELICAN TOWN CLINIC (GENERAL PRACTICE) (Y/N) (L/N) | +19201 184523 Hilltop Farm, Pelican Town...
Harvey adjusts his glasses as he reads the application in awe, why hadn’t he known someone was moving to Pelican Town— let alone into the abandoned farm on the outskirts of the valley? Perhaps he would have known if he had gone to the saloon last night with Elliot: the writer is typically much more aware of the town’s news and gossip than he is.
As he moves into the waiting area of the clinic, Harvey finds his eyes glued to the application in his hands— as if he is attempting to memorise every letter formed from the delicate handwriting on the form. The familiar bell of the front door chimes, failing to distract the doctor from his reading.
“Maru, that was extraordinarily fast— you didn’t get decaf again did you? That prank just isn’t as funny as you insist it is.” His large hand reaches up to adjust his glasses as they slide down the length of his freckled nose.
“Oh, not a fan of decaf,” An unfamiliar voice replies, “I’ll try to remember that.”
Harvey looks up from the paperwork, a faint blush washing over his cheeks as he coughs, “I- I’m terribly sorry I-,” He takes a selfish moments pause, just to look at the stranger in front of him, “I thought you were… somebody else, can I help you?”
“It’s okay, I just came in to make sure my application to register here arrived, I’m (Y/n)” You smile, extending your hand out to him as your eyes sparkling under the clinic’s soft light.
“I know-” Harvey scolds himself for his bluntness; he goes to shake your hand, “I mean, I was just reading through your application! Consider it approved… Forgive me, I had no idea anybody new was moving into town.”
“Well, yeah— it was kind of a last minute decision, I’m taking over my grandfather’s farm just west of here. You must be Doctor Greenwood?” You ask, not wanting to dwell on discussions of your late grandfather.
“Harvey,” He lets his arm fall, already missing the warmth of your smaller hand clasped in his own.
“Excuse me?”
“Please, you can call me Harvey,” The doctor places the now forgotten application on the reception desk behind him, “If you would prefer, of course—”
“—Harvey,” His name sounds heavenly coming from your lips, almost as angelic as your soft laughter, “It was nice to meet you.”
In an instant, you're gone. The bell chimes as you leave, singing it's own goodbye.
Harvey is dazed, his hands clenching together as his blush grows darker, “It was lovely to meet you too,” He says to an empty waiting room.
As he turns towards his office, the bell chimes once more; quickly followed by Maru’s animated voice, “Order’s up! One totally-not-decaf coffee for you, and a mint-hot chocolate for yours truly,” Maru giggles.
“T-Thank you, Maru,” Harvey takes the paper cup from his assistant’s hand, “Guess who just left the clinic.”
“Oh no, was it George? I told him that his prescription won’t arrive until next week!” Maru perches on the reception desk, sipping from her hot chocolate, “Do you want me to reschedule his appointment to this afternoon?”
The doctor chuckles, finally tearing his eyes from the front door of the clinic, “No, there’s no need for that— thank you though, Maru.”
The pair drink their beverages in a comfortable silence; Harvey quickly realising that one decaffeinated coffee wouldn’t be enough to satiate him.
“Right, well… I’m going for another one.” Harvey slips out of his doctors coat and into his dark-green cardigan, “Will you be okay here alone for five minutes?”
“You can trust me, Doc,” Maru offers a confident thumbs-up, “I’ll just call if there’s an emergency!”
After a nod to Maru, Harvey is quickly out the door. He basks in the spring warmth before walking down to The Stardrop Saloon— an unnecessary journey considering his coffee machine lay unused in his apartment, but Gus’ coffee is just so much better! At least, that’s what he tries to convince himself. In truth, Harvey just needs an excuse to leave the clinic; a trip upstairs to his apartment will only leave him feeling more claustrophobic.
“Wholly to be a fool while Spring is in the world my blood approves, and kisses are better fate than wisdom” Elliot sings, falling in pace with the doctor as the clinic door slams shut.
“Whatever are you talking about now?” Harvey turns his head to Elliot, slowing his brisk pace to enjoy the short walk with the writer.
“E.E. Cummings, Harvey! You haven’t read his work?” Elliot tuts, patting Harvey on the back as they walk together, “Shame on you.”
“Ah, of course,” Harvey playfully scoffs, sending a smirk to the shorter man, “Consider me utterly embarrassed.”
The pair are greeted by the music from the jukebox as they walk into the Saloon, both waving to Gus.
“Well I can tell how embarrassed you are by the blush on your cheeks,” The writer leans against the bar, eyebrows raised, “Or, has a certain new farmer caught the doctor’s attention?”
“I haven’t a clue what your talking about.” Harvey knew better than to feed into Elliot's delusional romanticism, he simply rakes a hand through his already swept back hair.
“You know you’ve always been a horrid liar, my friend.” Elliot smiles, “They’re quite lovely, aren’t they?”
“Who?” Harvey continues to feign ignorance while ordering a coffee from Gus.
“(Y/n), we met earlier this morning.” Elliot replies, “You would know that they’ve been the topic of conversation in town for a while now… If you came out of that small apartment once in a while.”
“You’re right, you know,” Harvey slouches, ignoring his own advice to his patients about the importance of posture, “I do regret not coming out last night, for what it’s worth.”
“I’m always right,” Elliot gleams, “My question is, was I right about you needing to come out more, or right about (Y/n) catching your eye?”
Harvey takes the coffee from Gus, placing 300g on the bar, “You know you’ve always talked too much, Elliot.”
The writer laughs as he watches Harvey leave the Saloon, “And you love me for it, good friend!”
On the short walk back to the clinic, Harvey finds himself thinking about you as he sips on his coffee. It wasn’t hard to make an impression as a new person in a small town, but never before had Harvey been struck by a stranger’s beauty so quickly, their interaction was short, yet the doctor’s heart raced as he remembered the way the farmer looked up at him.
The bell rings as he enters the clinic, Harvey realises this is probably the most the bell has chimed in a single day.
“Hey, Doc,” Maru greets, continuing her work on the computer in front of her, “Don’t forget that Evelyn has an appointment tomorrow at 10:30.”
“Thank you, Maru.” Harvey sips his drink, walking through the waiting room into his office, “Oh, and make sure it’s on file that (Y/n) (L/n)‘s application to register here is approved.”
Perhaps it’s selfish that a doctor would want to see his patient so soon— he certainly wouldn’t wish for emergency visit, his heart hurts at the thought of (Y/n) being injured— but as Harvey sits down in his office chair and begins to file his paperwork he can’t help but want to see that new farmer again.

Niamh Charles x Chelsea! Canadian! Reader
Warnings: fluff, cocky! Niamhy, suggestive.
Masterlist
__________________
You were quite new to the team, only joining the Blue’s side in July, but it felt like you had known Niamh for a lifetime.
You were Canadian, but you grew up in Manchester with your parents, playing in the City Academy before playing professionally for them until your move to London. Because of this, you knew Jessie and Ashleigh well. You grew up playing alongside Jessie at the National Camps, debuting for the Senior team in the same year. Winning the Olympics was a dream come true, especially with girls you have known since you were little.
Manchester City was a dream worth chasing. You were friends with Lauren Hemp, Ella Toone — before and during her move to United — and all the rest. When you found Chelsea interested in you, it was undeniably difficult to say no. While you had grown up in the North, the move down was something that ignited a certain thrill within you.
You met Niamh at your first training session. Jessie had been partnered with you for drills, and you were in the middle of introducing yourself to Guro when the brunette came barrelling in. Her flyaways were barren across her face, cheeks nipped red from the cold weather. Her hands stuffed in her pockets, she nearly tripped you to the ground at the speed at which she ran towards you. You had known her from previous matches against her, both for Canada and City, but something about being on the same team with her felt distinct. Sure, you had admired her beforehand, but it was different now.
“Jeez, Charles, give her some room, will you?” Guro scoffed, playfully pushing the girl back a bit. You watched as she nipped the inside of her cheek, looking at you so intently that you struggled to keep eye contact.
Niamh held out her hand, grabbing yours and shaking it. You could hear Jessie giggling from behind you. “My name’s Niamh.” She announced, continuing to shake your hand. “I’m Niamh.”
Her nervous state was apparent, and Guro was in a fit of laughter at the interaction she was watching.
“Hi, nice to meet you.” You replied, hoping your dismissal of her apprehension would cool the flames in both your cheeks. “I’m Y/N.”
“Nice to meet you.” She gulped, obviously baffled at what to say.
You couldn't help but smile, nodding. “Erm, yes, you too.”
“Fuck, let go of her hand, Charles, you're ‘gonna tear it off.” A voice called from behind. You turned to find the Australian Captain trampling over, slinging a welcoming arm over your shoulder. Her laid-back persona made it easier for introductions. Unlike Niamh, who was a worrying mess in front of you.
“Right, sorry.” The English woman muttered, tearing her hand away and shoving right back in her pocket. Her cheeks seared with an even deeper embarrassment, and you shook off the motion with a tight-lipped smile.
“You’re alright, really.” You smiled, hoping the reassurance consolidated the girl.
It must've, since Niamh gave you a wide smile back, shuffling by your side ever since.
All of the Chelsea girls were lovely. You had no problem fitting into the Grove there. After a few weeks of making scare appearances as a super sub, you became a regular starter for the Blues. Your presence on the field was noticeable, and fans reeled at how you brought more opportunities down the field and into the back of the net.
“Would you be able to give this to Niamh for me, please?” One fan said after a game, handing two matching friendship bracelets with your names on one of them each. Erin was beside you, signing off the posters, when she caught a glimpse of them. Without a second thought, she waved over Niamh, who wasted no time in sprinting towards you.
“Hello.” She spoke, trying hard to discreetly slip her arm around your waist. You leaned into her side, showing her the two bracelets.
“Look how cute.” You smiled, ignoring the way some fans had started recording. You slipped a hand into Niamh’s jacket pocket, holding out the present with your other hand.
Niamh picked up the one with your name on it, slipping it on her wrist and displaying it to the little girl who had made it. “Very cute. I wish we could wear them during games.”
Subconsciously, you put yours (Niamh’s) one on too. The two of you were pretty much hugging at this point. The wind had sent chills through you, your kit doing little to warm you up.
The two of you took a photo with the fan before calling it a day and trudging off back to the changing rooms. You shivered as the wind picked up, holding your arms over your chest tightly as you tried to fight the cold.
Without much thought, Niamh shrugged off her jacket, hauling it around your figure and zipping it up for you.
When you got back to your apartment, engulfing the comfort of your bed after a hard-fought game, you opened up your phone to find hundreds of people tagging your account. You managed to click on the video, smiling to yourself at the sight of you and Niamh huddled together, talking to the little girl with bracelets adorned on your wrists. You clicked on another image, this time a photo, of you blanketed in Niamh’s jumper, your arm wrapped around her waist with one of her’s around your shoulder. The photo was everywhere on social media, including the Chelsea Account.
After a couple more months, you ended up extending your contract until the end of 2027 by Christmas. You loved it there. Your friendship with the team had grown all the more closer. You felt a sense of home and solidarity that you had never felt before.
Your relationship with the team was selfless. Jessie and you had never been closer. Sam and Millie had taken you under their wing, calling you the baby of the group, since you were the shortest between you, them, Guro, Niamh, Erin, and Jessie. Fans had taken a ripe liking to you all over social media. But not just you by yourself, but with a certain brunette in your wake.
You and Niamh had grown very close over the time you spent in London. She wasn't as shy as she made herself out to be when you first met. She was cunning, confident, funny, and easy to be around in any environment. All of your teammates teased the living daylights out of the two of you, especially Niamh, who didn't waste a second in making sure you were always okay.
She would check on you when you went quiet. She always ran to you for partner work during drills, after goals, and when the full-time whistle would blow. The two of you had a habit of huddling together in any setting, holding each other’s hands or waist, cuddling their side or touching you in some way.
Everything you did with each other was full of love and adoration. It was only you two that didn't see your friendship blossom into a relationship. You weren't daft, you knew the speculations surrounding what the two of you were. There was no denying the physical acclimation you had around each other. Hell, Sam sent at least two memes a day about how whenever you were seen together, you were always touching each other.
Over Christmas, Niamh asked you out. She was a nervous wreck, which reminded you all too well of when you first met her. It was after a game, in the changing rooms. She had been given a bouquet of flowers by a group of fans, who told her to ask you out with them. She was reluctant, not only because she didn't want you to feel uncomfortable or pressured by the media to say yes, but the mere fact of ruining the relationship you already had with each other made her hesitant enough.
Of course, you said yes. It was a no-brainer, and after a few more dates you were officially together. It wasn't any more public than before. Only your close friends knew, but the public was already quite content with the PDA you already showed each other before you were dating. The only thing they needed was confirmation, but Niamh and you were happy to keep in vague.
After you said yes, the two of you became inseparable, both on and off the pitch. Niamh ended up extending her contract as well, and the chemistry you built made for an unstoppable case on the field. By the time the season came back after the break, you had moved in together. The happiness both of you felt was indescribable.
Today, Chelsea was up against Manchester United, your old rival team. Ella Toone was one of your childhood friends and was who you were marking. Not only was ManU a competitive, difficult team, but it was a team you were familiar with. They were always pushing in the midfield and up against the forwards. Their chances during set pieces were worrying to any defensive back line. With the combination of Mary Earps and a sophisticated midfield variation, you knew that you were in for a ride.
When Sam did her ACL, people started to underestimate Chelsea’s shot at winning the league. Everyone was starting to wonder whether the Blues were even contestable for the semis. After a poor attempt last week against West Ham for the FA Cup, you were adamant about proving yourself to the people who were doubting your ability to win. You were a midfielder, and while you had masterclasses in the centre field, your stats didn't excel in goals. You had many assists, but never many goals.
You were tying your laces when you felt your girlfriend's arms curl around your waist. You were leaning against your cubby, back facing Niamh. You were slightly bent as your finished the knot in your shoe, feeling the women behind you grasp your hips with a slight squeeze.
“You ready to smash it today, baby?” She muttered, her lips shadowing your ear, sending shivers down your body. You held composure well enough, straightening up and letting her wrap her arms over your abdomen.
“Mh, bit nervous, but yeah.” You replied, relishing Niamh’s pattern of breath. “How ‘bout you?”
Niamh pulled your body to face in front of her, your back now flushed against the wall. You managed to make eye contact with her dilated pupils, feeling one of her hands make their to the back of your neck.
Before she spoke, your eyes filtered down to the fabric that wrapped around her arm, the word ‘Captain’ sprawled across the armband. Niamh watched the way your eyes widened, and how you bit your bottom lip at the sight. Niamh smirked in response, pressing her front into yours so that most of your body was hidden to the rest of the room.
“What's the matter, baby?” She gloated, rubbing a hand up your side. Your cheeks flushed when she refused to break eye contact, holding tranquillity at the sight of your girlfriend as captain. It was a sight you weren't used to, but it was something you couldn't get enough of.
“Nothing. I'm— we should go line up in the tunnel.” Your breath hitched. Niamh was staring down at you while groping your waist.
Neither of you said anything until you were out on the field. You could hear the crowd cheering in anticipation. You shook your opponents’ hands aimlessly, your mind sauntering on the previous sight of your girlfriend.
“Earth to Y/N, hello?” Jessie’s voice snapped you out of your trance. She must've watched you wander to your position in a haze, since she was smirking knowingly at your flushed cheeks. Erin came up behind the two of you, laughing when she caught a glimpse of your state.
“She looks like she's already played the ninety minutes.” The Scottish woman quipped, bringing her hands up to play with your cheeks. You pushed her off playfully, gushing at the ground. “Shut up, you two.”
“God, if this is your reaction to Niamh in an armband, I wonder what Niamh would do if she saw you.”
“Go away, you pricks.” You snapped, flanking them away with your hands, trying to cool your cheeks before the game.
After the team photo, you ran back to your position, jumping up and down as the whistle blew.
The game was inevitably tough, but something had ignited inside of you at the sight of your girlfriend. As embarrassing as it was to admit, you were running up and down the pitch with the one endeavour to make your girlfriend watch you.
Chelsea was controlling the game for the most part, and it didn't take long for Guro to find you inside the box.
The crowd erupted in cheers, your teammates sprinting over to where you stood starstruck. This was one of the scarce amount of goals you had scored that season.
As you were making your way back to the middle, you felt a familiar figure creep up behind you with her hands soothing the tension in your shoulders.
“Making me so proud today, aren't you, baby?” Niamh whispered, running back to her spot in defence before you could reply.
The first half ended as quickly as it started. United had sent a flyer into the back of the net just before the whistle blew. You avoided Niamh like the plague in the changing rooms, knowing you would cave to her touch as soon as she laid hands on you. In any other circumstance, it was you who would tease, but it always ended with Niamh taking over. The two of you were strict in keeping your private life and career separate, but no one seemed to mind your change of game when Niamh was Captain.
You were having an absolute masterclass of a game by the sixtieth minute, scoring your second goal on seven minutes in. Chelsea was now up two-one, and Man U were starting to bring on subs after a close set piece that almost led to a goal.
You made a break down the wing after Lauren sent a cross-over to the field. You sprinted down the line, trying to find a way into the middle. United were tight in keeping you out, and by the time you had made it down the line, attempting to pass it to one of your teammates, you felt a pair of boots collide with your own, sending you face-first fo the floor.
The ball was long forgotten by the ref, who blew the whistle immediately, medics were sent over. While your muscles started to strain at the energy of the game, you didn't feel instantaneous pain from the fall.
You were rolling onto your back, wincing as you got up, when you first heard your girlfriend’s voice boom over the hustle of the crowd.
“Are you alright there, Zelem?!” She scoffed. You watched a smug Katie Zelem trampling off from where you sat. She didn't look like she meant the tackle, but the heat of the game left her feeling less apologetic than usual.
“Oh, let it go, Charles.” Zelem clapped back, walking towards Ella and Millie, who were tense at the sight of Niamh’s uncommon anger. “She's fine.”
“I don't think you understand.” Niamh marched towards her, grabbing the girl’s jersey, and forcing Katie to face her. “You get the fuck off her and the rest of my players. Don't be salty cause we’re winning.”
Katie rolled her eyes at that. “Don't be salty cause your girlfriend can't handle a tackle.”
Erin and Jessie were surrounding Niamh moments later, dragging her away from the United mob and towards you.
The medics have already cleared you to keep playing, and you were already up and ready to go by the time your girlfriends grabbed your hand.
“Are you sure you're okay?” She asked, taking in your flustered appearance. What she didn't know was that you were overwhelmed at the way Niamh looked just then, not by the absolute mouthful of grass you just inhaled.
You could only muster a nod, squeezing your girlfriend’s hand once before slipping away from her touch. You were now hungry for not only Niamh but that third goal. You wanted to prove yourself to everyone that you could do it.
And so you did.
It was a Chelsea corner, and you made the run from outside the box near the open post, where no one had thought to mark. You jumped as high as you could, feeling the ball hit your head in the right direction. You fell to the ground before you knew where the ball was going, letting the movement and relief of the crowd pull you to your feet. You ran to the corner of the field, taking in the shouts and cheers of the crowd and letting your teammates engulf you from behind. The weight of everyone sent you down as more and more girls piled on top of you.
This was your first hat trick ever at Chelsea, and you were relishing the feeling of the euphoria for the rest of the game.
When the final whistle blew, you nearly collapsed from exhaustion. Everything you wanted to go right in the game went right. You were reeling at the win, looking across the field for a particular someone.
“Guess I know what to do to make you score some goals.” Niamh chuckled, grabbing your waist and lifting you into a spinning hug. You gripped onto her and giggled, letting her twirl you around.
“Thanks, Niamhy.” You smiled, gazing up at your girlfriend’s proud eyes. “You looked so good today, baby.”
“You think so?” She asked, though both of you knew she was just egging you on.
“Mhm. Looked so good.”
“You always look good, my stargirl.” The taller girl grinned, looking down at you slyly. Her lips met your ear, her voice sending chills down your spine. “But I guess I’ll need to reward you for doing so well. Show you how good you were for me.”
You didn't get to respond, feeling Jessie pull you away with the Player of the Match trophy shoved into your chest.
You knew you’d see her soon… you were looking forward to it.

could you please write something with grace clinton, maybe childhood friends to lovers?
unsure - grace clinton

description: in which trying to figure out your relationship with your childhood best friend has you extremely confused, especially when everyone wants to meddle about in your business
warnings: a little long to fully capture the pining lmao
a/n: gracey girl! thank you for the request, i got a little carried away but enjoy!!!
⋆ ★ ⋆ ★ ⋆ ★ ⋆ ★ ⋆
everyone in the woso community found it completely mind-boggling that you and your best friend, grace, weren’t dating. you’d grown up together, being family friends almost all your lives. whatever grace did, you did and vice versa.
growing up with grace was truly a treat. the girl complimented you so well, both of you were inseparable ever since you were kids, an obvious factor when the two of you just knew what the other needed, something that was seen in both of your recent call ups to the senior lionesses.
you were talking to maya while waiting to board the bus when you feel a gentle hand on your shoulder stopping your conversation.
you turn to see your best friend bundled up in her puffer with slightly red cheeks from the brisk morning. “would you two like a coffee?” she offers sweetly, both you and maya nod with an appreciative smile.
maya tells grace what she wants and grace immediately walks away after receiving the information she wanted.
you look at her departing figure in slight disbelief, yelling out to her as she walks towards the hotel lobby coffee shop,
“aren’t you gonna ask me what i want, gracie?” you exclaim with a slight smirk. the girl you called to immediately turns at the sound of your voice, “i know what you want, love!” she shrugs while smirking at you.
maya looks at you with a cheeky grin, an expression you’ve received from almost every teammate whenever grace does something for you.
grace returns with the three drinks in her hand, you instantly rush forward to help the girl out, grabbing maya’s drink and giving it to her.
grace hands yours to you with a bright grin, “is it right?” grace already knew the answer as you take a quick sip, your cheeks turning slightly pink when it was exactly what you wanted.
you smile sheepishly at the girl, she reciprocates your shy grin. maya clears her throat at the interaction, claiming she heard ella and alessia calling for her. she rushes off to go tell them about the development of your relationship.
there were many instances like this, for instance, one that really stood out was the way you took care of grace.
“do you want me to do your hair for you?” you say to grace when she’s about to tie it up, she was having a rough day, unable to sleep last night (you kissed her on the cheek when she got a goal in training- she replayed the interaction in her head over and over). she looks at you through the mirror in your shared bathroom, “really?” she asks softly,
“of course” you respond with a loving grin, heart eyes evident on your face but grace didn’t think much of it, you always looked at her like that. (clueless)
you gently card your hands through her blond hair, she hums at your contact, noticeably relaxing into your touch. you smile and retrieve her brush, completing her signature slick ponytail with ease.
once complete, you wrap your arms around her waist and rest your head on her back. her hands instantly hold yours on her stomach, leaning into you gently. “i’ll always be here for you, gracie girl” you smile, giving her a quick kiss between her shoulder blades. she turns slightly red, gripping onto you tighter. “me too, love”
it was easy for you to admit to yourself that you have feelings for your best friend. you’d discovered it long ago when the both of you were 10. it was grace, it was always grace. your consistent fear of losing the girl caused you to bottle up all your feelings, there was no way she’d felt the same.
in reality, grace has always been crushing on you, ever since she could remember. being parted from you was torture, it was why she insisted the both of you couldn’t be separated, hence why you moved in together, went to the same club and never parted from each other. grace too had fears of losing you, also keeping her feelings under wraps. both you and grace couldn’t imagine a life without each other.
through the motivation and encouragement from one another, you pushed and pushed to be the best versions of yourselves that you could be. (how could the two of you be so clueless to your love?)
you were in the lioness change room, sat in your cubby next to grace. you and grace getting the call up to the senior team together was easily one of your greatest accomplishments, both of you cried for the other when the phone call arrived from sarina.
what you and grace didn’t know was that the lionesses had a group chat without you and grace just to meddle in your relationship. they made it their personal mission for the both of you to realise your relationship was anything but just friendship.
“oi, grace!” ella exclaims, throwing an arm over the girl’s shoulder, “i think it’s time we find you a lover” ella smirks. grace visibly tenses, glancing at you from the corner of her eye to see your reaction. you had a slight expression of hurt amongst your features.
“no, ella, i’m fine” grace tries to dismiss her but ella wouldn’t budge. “why? do you have a crush or something?” ella teases, everyone in the change room making suggestive noises and throwing kissy faces towards her, well…everyone except you.
grace could tell you were getting upset, she assumed you wouldn’t want her to be in a relationship in fear you wouldn’t spend as much time with each other - unaware that all you wanted was to be that special someone she called a lover, but both of you were just too clueless.
“alright, tooney, enough” alessia smiles at you sympathetically, pulling ella back to sit in her own cubby. grace moves slightly closer to you, your thighs lightly brushing against hers. “you okay?” she whispers, smiling at you so softly, you just nod at her gently, “yeah, gracie, i’m fine” you try to smile reassuringly but grace could see right through you, she needed to cheer you up.
it was time for training, grace was ready to walk up to you to partner up but you were instead stolen by alessia. her smiles slightly fell as you were dragged away from her by alessia.
“sorry, gracie, i need my child!” alessia exclaims, grace just waves her off, smiling at both of you before going to pair up with maya.
you were slightly confused as to why alessia partnered up with you, she’d always been a big sister figure towards you and grace, claiming she was your mother. alessia knew you always trained with grace without fail, why did she want to pair up with you today?
“listen, (y/n/n), do you like grace?” alessia speaks quietly, not wanting to blast your business out to the world, a true mvp. your eyes widen, were you that obvious? “what are you talking about, lessi?” your voice shakes throughout your words, not convincing anyone. “(y/n), please, i’m being serious here” alessia squeezes your shoulder for encouragement.
you let out a shaky sigh, giving her a hesitant nod and a quick “yes” escaping your lips, the first time you’ve ever said it out loud. she just smiles and nods at you, “why haven’t you said anything?” she says quietly, you give her a defeated smile.
“she doesn’t feel the same, i can’t afford to lose her” alessia looks at you in disbelief, “you don’t actually think that, do you? grace definitely likes you” you furrow your eyebrows together, not convinced.
“no, lessi, i think you’ve got it all wrong” you try to reason with her, finding it hard to believe that your best friend returned your feelings.
“really? look at your girl over there” alessia nods her head towards the opposite side of the pitch, you turn to see grace lightly stretching while looking at you with lovesick eyes, throwing you a shy smile and a little wave.
you smile back at her and look back at alessia, “listen, (y/n/n), you don’t see ella looking at me like that, do you?” alessia smiles at you, you shake your head in response, still slightly in disbelief that everyone could tell you were in love with your best friend.
“right, i think you should tell her, it wouldn’t hurt” alessia squeezes your upper arm reassuringly, you can’t help but pull the girl into a tight hug, she instantly returns your embrace to comfort you. “thank you, lessi” you say slightly tearfully, alessia pulls away from you to wipe your tears.
grace watched the whole interaction, her eyes widening when she saw alessia wipe your tears away. she quickly turns to maya apologetically and the girl waves her off immediately, grace immediately sprints to where you were.
alessia held your shoulders as you wipe your tears, the anxiety of losing your best friend eating you alive but also crying at the thought of her liking you back, it was all too much. alessia pulls away when another pair of arms wrap around your waist from the back, a head resting on your shoulder. you were engulfed with the scent of grace, leaning into her instantly.
alessia smiles at you quickly before running off to maya, leaving you two to partner up for the rest of training. “what’s wrong, lovie?” grace pouts, lightly turning you around so you face her, her hands holding you at arms length from her. you just shake your head in response, grace pulls you into a tight hug, soothingly running her hands over your back to calm you down.
“you don’t have to tell me now, but i’m here to talk whenever” she says softly in your ear, you hold onto her tighter, nodding into her neck as you hide your face there. you pull yourself together and continue with training, grace instantly cheering you up just by her presence. when she starts goofing off with you, the entire team watches you both endearingly, smiling so brightly at seeing you two.
it was game day, sarina had promised both you and grace that you would be playing today and grace was incredibly nervous. sure, she’s played all her life but there was something about playing with her idols and her crush, wanting to do well to impress both.
she sits in her cubby, decked out in the england kit as she tries to drown out any sounds with her headphones. all the girls were chatting in the change room, still plenty of time before you needed to head out to the pitch.
she’s in her own world until her favourite girl comes and sits next to her. at seeing your gentle smile, she instantly takes off her headphones and puts them to the side as she looks at you. you grab both of her hands in yours, rubbing soothing circles with your thumbs on the back of her hands.
it was an awkward position and grace could tell you were uncomfortable, she grabs both of your legs with her arm and drapes them over her thighs, both of you turning a light shade of pink in your cheeks.
“you okay, gracie girl?” you smile, grace huffs out a laugh, shaking her head lightly, you grip her hands slightly tighter.
she moves her hands upside down so her palms make contact with yours, moving them to interlace with yours and she held you tightly. “just a little nervous” you nod in response, you were nervous too. “what about?” you say softly and grace could have melted in a puddle.
“well, we’re playing today, that’s one thing” she lists and you nod along with her words, “there’s also this girl that’s been on my mind for a long time and i can’t get her out of my head” you slightly tense at that, “oh” you breathe out, “yeah, i really like her but i’m scared of losing her, you know?” you nod at her, unable to speak because you knew she was going to tell you about a girl that wasn’t you.
“she’s very pretty, and special, and smart” she looks right into your eyes when she speaks, surprised she’s not stumbling her words. “she’s an amazing player, great person and my best friend” you grow speechless, your grip on her hands loosens but she holds onto you tighter, not wanting you to slip away.
“i’ve been really freaking out because i love her but i’m scared to lose her, but i need to say something” you could feel yourself growing hot, she was being so forward, your best friend felt the same, you loved her and she loved you.
you quickly look around the change room, everyone was too engrossed with each other, they weren’t even looking at you and grace. you decided to bite the bullet, looking at the girl in front of you with blown out pupils and pink cheeks, her looking exactly the same.
you let go of one of her hands and place a gentle hand on her cheek, lightly running your thumb over the apple of her cheek. you lean forward to place a sweet kiss on her lips, the girl instantly kisses you back but gasps into your mouth, suddenly ripping her lips away from yours.
“oh, grace, i’m so sorry” you cover your mouth with your hands, moving to stand up but grace grips your wrist and pulls you back, you land on her lap, sitting sideways.
“i love you” she breathes out, “i can’t kiss you until i tell you directly, i love you” she watches as your embarrassed face turns into one full of affection, “i love you too” you reply instantly, the girl in front of you smiling and cradling your jaw with her hand, pulling you down into a kiss.
it’s experimental and gentle, your lips connecting with love as you move in sync, feeling like you’d done this before. grace hums into you when your hand goes to the back of her neck, keeping her close to you. the change room went eerily quiet, you pull away from grace and hear her whine as you do, she was ready to protest at the loss of your contact but both of you realise you’re being watched.
every. single. teammate. was watching the two of you with bright smiles, mainly alessia in the corner who was fangirling with ella.
“i’ve never been so happy to watch a make out in my life” ella exclaims, the girls bursting into laughter at her words. you instantly look at grace with a humiliated grin but she just looks at you smugly, completely enthralled that she got to kiss the girl she’s loved for the majority of her life.
you hide your face in her neck out of embarrassment, the girl giggling when you wouldn’t move away from her, wanting to shield yourself from your teammates.
grace coos, rubbing comforting circles on your back and whispers in your ear, “aw, my girl, no need to be shy, baby” you lean into her further, groaning into her neck out of pure shame you got caught kissing her.
after dealing with the relentless teasing of your teammates and you and grace stealing loving glances at each other, by now all of you needed to head to the pitch.
both you grace couldn’t keep your hands to yourself. so many of the girls threw you suggestive smiles as grace held your hand or your waist, when was it going to end? you thought.
you were going to get subbed on and grace was starting in the match. before the both of you walked out to the pitch, you hold her back and give her an encouraging kiss on her lips. she smiles at your contact, her hands lightly squeezing your hips as she keeps you close to her.
you pull away but she pulls you back immediately. “one more” she mumbles clumsily against your lips, lightly slipping her tongue into your mouth causing you to gasp in surprise, spurring a smile in her kisses once more.
you place your hands on her chest and separate her from you, spinning her around and pushing her to walk out. instead, she just wraps her arm around your waist while yours slings over her shoulder, walking out together for warm ups before the match.
it was finally game time, grace was playing exceptionally well. in the second half, you get subbed on for alessia, the girl bounding over to you as you stand on the sidelines, pulling you into a tight hug. “make your girlfriend and your mum proud” she says cheekily, you can’t help but laugh and shake your head at her, running on the pitch. you were a forward while grace was a midfielder, both of you knew how to be a powerful duo, it’s time to do it again.
you smile shyly as you run on the pitch, running past grace who throws you a wink. england was in the lead by 2-0, you and grace had always said that if you were in a match for england together, it was your mission to get a goal.
and so, grace dominated the midfield in an assist to you, sending you the most perfect ball, all you had to do was swing your foot, landing in the bottom right of the net. the crowd roars when you get the goal and you throw your arms up in celebration, your first international goal for the senior england team.
you sprint to grace as quick as you could, jumping on the girl with a bright grin, she catches you by your thighs and holds you tightly. “that’s my girl!” she exclaims brightly, the rest of the girls running up to the both of you and clapping you on the back.
grace places you down and kisses your forehead, her face full of adoration. “thank you for the perfect assist, my gracie girl” you wink and she laughs, “anything for you, gorgeous” throwing you a wink back, pushing you lightly to your position.
the game concludes, 3-0. you smile when the whistle blows, holding your arms out to grace as she walks into your embrace, tucking her face in your neck as she lifts you up slightly from the ground. you laugh gleefully as your feet lift off the pitch. as she puts you down, she kisses your neck quickly before moving your lips to your ear.
“would you like to be my girlfriend, baby?” she whispers, your cheeks turn slightly pink as her lips graze your ear.
you pull your face away from her, smiling at her brightly, “yes please” you say cheekily, she smiles at you so brightly, one of her hands moving from your waist to your cheek.
“would you like to be my girlfriend?” you smile at her, “yes please” she says enthusiastically, giving you a quick kiss before pulling away at the cheers from the crowd. it was official, you and grace were finally together and put everyone out of their misery - you bought alessia a bunch of flowers as a thank you.

camp champ II n.charles x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
had lots of reqs for some niamhy content so here we have a lil bit of angst and a lil bit of softness camp champ II n.charles x reader
"your missus is out of control man." you looked up from your book with an amused smile as ella collapsed into the bean bag beside you with an annoyed huff. "whats she done then?" you chuckled raising an eyebrow and snapping your book closed.
"she is refusing to get off the table tennis unless someone beats her and her ego's the size of australia!" ella groaned dragging her hands down her face, her head moving to thump into your lap.
you were all at base camp in the central coast of australia, riding out the high of your first win in the knock out rounds of the world cup. you had tomorrow off so most of the girls had made plans to spend the day together, almost the whole team staying up late still riddled with adrenaline from the victory.
"go sort her out, please!" ella begged, throwing her hands up into the air as alessia joined the two of you, annoyed scowl on her face. "niamh?" you asked, wincing as alessia nodded frantically, frown deepening as she crossed her arms.
"she smacked me with the paddle!" alessia accused, ella moving off of you to lay on top of her now as the two of them looked to you expectantly. "y/l/n!" you looked behind you before you could even say another word, millie, rachel and hempo all charging over now.
"mate your girlfrie-" rachel started angrily as you held up a hand, silencing their chatter. "yeah yeah, i'll sort her out." you sighed, having wanted to get a good start on your book tonight with niamhs attention elsewhere but clearly that was off the cards, your girlfriend apparently unable to be left alone without supervision.
"she's relentless!" "she's a bully man!" "she's annoyingly good at table tennis." "she's not even that good she just hits the shit out of it!" "i'd like to smack the shit out of her!"
"okay okay! i'm goin." you rolled your eyes as all five girls continued to talk at you, waving them off as they all sat together, your book tucked under your arm as you left, heading down toward the rec room.
as you entered the sight before you had you sighing, shaking your head unsurprised.
a few of your friends seemed to be lined up waiting for their turn, esme stepping up with a hesitant look and asking your girlfriend to go easy, niamhs smirk only growing as she sarcastically agreed.
you winced as esme served and niamh smashed the ball back, the blonde darting out of the way with a yelp, dropping her paddle to the floor as niamh cheered, pumping her fists.
she clearly couldn't but you quickly picked up the tense vibe in the room, the unimpressed scowls and closed off body language of your team mates even further proving the point the brunette was doing a tremendous job of isolating herself with her cockiness.
"niamhy." you approached the table, not missing the way esme sighed in relief at the sight of you and a few of your team mates mumbled to one another. "mm?" the girl didn't even look at you, instead egging esme on to serve.
"think its time we head up babe, its gettin late." you tried, a few of the girls backing you up as niamh waved it off. "nah i'll be up later. i'm on a winning streak, the camp champ is on a roll!” the older girl smirked happily as esme hesitantly served, niamh once again smashing it back at her as this time she attempted to hit it back but it went sailing into the net.
"niamhy come on, let someone else have a go now." you sighed, feeling as though you were scolding a greedy child rather than your fully grown twenty four year old girlfriend.
"thats not the rules love, if someone beats me they take my place. and so far they're a bunch of losers!" niamh grinned, again missing the unimpressed eye rolls of your friends, a couple more of the girls giving up with a mumble and wandering off.
"niamh you're acting like a five year old. you've been at this for hours now, share!" you rolled your eyes, the brunette finally meeting your gaze as you raised your eyebrows. "fine. you beat me, i give up and we go to bed." she challenged with a smirk, esme very happily offering you her paddle.
"go on, shut her up for once please!" jess all but begged quietly beside you as niamh shot her a look before her eyes returned to you as you sighed. "mind this please." you mumbled to esme, trading her your book for her paddle as her body all but crumpled in relief.
"hey! wheres my support?" your girlfriend scowled as the girls all cheered for you, again missing out on the fact she'd clearly rubbed them all the wrong way tonight as you tossed her the ball.
"i'll go easy on you baby." niamh smiled charmingly, twirling the ball inbetween her fingers as you rolled your eyes and gestured for her to serve.
true to her word she hit it with a hell of lot less force than she'd been whacking it at the rest of the girls tonight and the two of you got into a rally, attracting the attention of a few more members of the team.
niamhs frown deepened as again they all cheered you on, and you recognized the competitive look shift into her features as you took advantage of her slight dip in attention and managed to score a point.
"niamh." you warned as she huffed, readying for the serve. ignoring you she sent it your way with some force, your arm only just able to shoot out and make contact as the ball went skidding off beside you, smile now returning to her face as georgia handed you the ball back.
"hurry up!" the defender moaned impatiently as your eyes narrowed, rolling your shoulders and serving, again the two of you getting into a rally before your girlfriend smashed it and you ducked as it bounced over your head.
"steady on!" you scoffed with a glare as the brunette shrugged. "can't handle playing with the big girls then hand the paddle over babe." she smirked, infuriatingly attractive as she did but you refused to be enamored by her tonight.
"pardon?" you gave her a chance to apologize, a few of the girls whistling and pulling faces. "your serve." she grinned, bouncing the ball back to you as you rolled your eyes. "take it easy, this isn't the olympics."
"if it were i'd already be top of the podium with the gold."
you only sighed at her cockiness, serving to her and not even getting the chance for a rally as niamh's arm swung back and she connected with the ball, sending it hurtling into your cheek with a smack
you dropped the paddle and clutched your face with a hiss of pain as a couple of the girls hurried over to look you over with concerned frowns, a nasty red welt already forming as your girlfriend looked on in shock.
"niamh louise charles!" you roared angrily as she dropped the paddle to the floor, eyes filled with fear as your team mates parted not wanting to be in your way. "go!" you ordered pointing to the door as her head dropped and she sulked off, dragging her feet.
"fucking thank you!" lucy groaned in relief, taking her place as esme and jess fussed over you. "ill be fine, just a nice little shiner tomorrow." you sighed with a pained smile, collecting your book from the tall blonde and wishing her and jess goodnight, hugging a few of the girls on your way out.
it didn't surprise you to not find niamh waiting anywhere for you, the girl clearly having run away in fear after her actions, likely already practicing her apology in your shared room.
"woah what the hells happened to you?" millie and mary ducked into the elevator after you, headed up to their own rooms as millie grabbed your face turning it side to side. "niamh!" you huffed with a scowl.
"she hit you?" mary spat in disbelief, fists clenching by her sides. "yeah with the fucking table tennis ball!" you frowned as the goalkeeper let out a small sigh of relief and you pushed away millies large hands.
"are we still on for tomorrow?" you asked changing the subject, not missing the look shared between the two older girls as the elevator stopped on their floor first.
"not tomorrow, we all need a niamh break she's been insufferable with her bloody table tennis and her attitude!" millie answered as the two of them stepped out and you stopped the door with your foot.
"what! why am i being punished for that?" you frowned as mary squeezed your cheek apologetically. "guilty by association. where you go, she goes. sorry!" and with that they were off toward their own rooms ignoring your calls after them.
your mood now somehow worse with your girlfriend having no idea what was coming to her you brooded silently in the elevator, marching to your room as the doors opened.
sure enough as you stepped inside her head snapped up, having already changed into more comfier clothes. she opened her mouth to speak but you didn't give her the chance, and she winced as the bathroom door slammed shut.
a hot shower helped to ease your anger a little, annoyed not only at the stinging tenderness of your cheek but also that your plans for your day off tomorrow had been tanked for a reason you couldn't even help or control.
normally had you stepped out of the bathroom in nothing but a towel the taller girl would be on you within a second, showering you with cheesy compliments and attacking your lips feverishly with hers.
but you were instead met with a tense silence as you hunted about in your case for clothes, slipping on a pair of nike shorts and a large faded harley davidson tee you'd worn to death and back, always stealing it back from niamh whose closet it just so happened to accidentally appear in.
you felt a tap on your shoulder as you grabbed out your hair brush, glancing over to see your girlfriend offering you up her favorite hoodie with a hopeful look, you not having spent a single night all tournament not sleeping in it.
which is why she realized just how badly she'd messed up as you turned back around wordlessly, grabbing a jumper of your own and slipping it on, ignoring her completely.
as you brushed out the tangles in your hair you made your way around to the other bed, neatly made and so far untouched, you and your girlfriend having only slept together in the other bed which niamh was currently perched on.
you pulled back the covers cringing silently at the unrustled sheets but getting in none the less, punching your pillow a few times to soften it up and getting comfortable, placing your brush down on the bedside table.
your back now facing her niamh sighed, rubbing the back of her neck as you busied yourself with your phone, still ignoring her completely not having said a word since you'd entered the room around an hour ago, and it was killing her.
she waited a few more minutes, ticking things over in her head and going to use the toilet, flicking off the light sending the room into a dim darkness, only illuminated by the lamp on her side and the blue light of your phone.
you weren't surprised to feel the bed dip behind you, an all too familiar hand landing hesitantly on your side. "baby-" she started softly as you pushed her hand away with a huff. "i think i'd rather you yell at me and bite my head off than ignore me much longer." niamh admitted honestly with a frown as you resisted the urge to meet her eyes.
"which is exactly why i have been ignoring you." you mumbled, the defender perking up just slightly at the sound of your voice. "baby, beautiful girl, love of my life, keeper of my heart, owner of-" she started to grovel, eyes boring a hole in the back of your head.
"this is one situation that cheap flattery and cute nicknames will not get out out of charles." you warned sharply as her words fell short and she sighed.
"love i am so so sorry i got carried away. i lost my head and i was an arrogant cocky idiot, and unfortunately you were the collateral and i can't apologise enough. please!" she apologised with hopeful eyes as you sighed, dropping your phone onto the table and turning onto your back.
"thats one word for it!" you pointed to your cheek, finally meeting her gaze as the taller girl winced. "i'm so sorry baby, really. i can't say it enough!" she mumbled, leaning down to gently grab your chin, turning your head slightly and inspecing the fast forming bruise.
you stayed silent as she pressed a few very cautious kisses to the tender skin, running over it with her thumb as her eyebrows knitted together into a concerned frown. "if its still sore tomorrow i'm taking you to the medics to get it looked at." she stated more than asked.
"mary thought you hit me." you mumbled, crossing your arms over your chest as niamh's eyes widened in shock. "what? i would never ever! does she still think that? oh my god she's going to kill me." the defender squeaked in sheer terror as a small smile formed on your face.
"no i told her the only thing you assaulted me with was a stupid plastic ball." you sighed as she breathed out in relief, continually muttering her gratitude. "but your behaviour means i am now suffering the consequences in more ways than one!" you sat up a little more and fixed her with a glare.
"what'd ya mean love?" she frowned confused at your words. "you may been too thick to have picked up on it but your little i'm a superstar at table tennis routine has ruffled a lot of feathers niamhy, you have made some friends turn into enemies!" you warned seriously, poking at her shoulder.
"maybe i have been a little bit much." she admitted quietly with a sheepish wince and you only hummed. "and now because of that no one will let me hang out with them tomorrow because they all need and i quote 'a niamh break'." you bent your fingers sarcastically as her eyes widened.
"a what?" "yeah! i had plans and now they're ruined and its all your fault. dickhead!" you kicked her lightly from under the covers with a huff.
"m'sorry baby." she apologized sincerely, opening her arms hopefully as you hesitated for a moment before giving in with a sigh, shuffling over and melting into them.
you breathed in the scent of her body wash feeling a familiar sense of calm settle over you as she squeezed you tightly, laying the two of you back down as you got properly comfortable, your head tucked into her neck.
"how about instead i take you on a date tomorrow? a proper one. i'll organise everything!" she asked softly, glancing down at you hopefully as you nodded. "i think thats the least you can do. and you'll apologise to all of the girls at breakfast tomorrow!" you warned as she eagerly agreed.
"i promise i'll fix everything tomorrow and take you on the best australian date you'll ever have. may i have a kiss now please?" she asked with a small pout as you rolled your eyes, lifting your chin up as she met your mouth halfway.
the last few drops of your animosity and anger toward the defender melted away at the blissful feeling of her lips moving against yours, her hands on the small of your back flushing your bodies as close together as she could as you hooked one leg over her hips, moving on top of her.
the brunette sighed happily as you straddled her, tangling your hands in her hair and scratching at her scalp sending a slight shiver down her spine as her own hands gripped your hips tightly, fingers digging in and likely leaving a small bruise as she swiped her tongue across your bottom lip quickly taking control of the kiss.
now you sighed in pleasure as her tongue roamed your mouth, hands moving your hips to rock against her slightly as your forehead pressed to her shoulder and she broke the kiss, lips focusing now on your neck as one hand moved to brush your hair out of the way and nudging your head to the side giving her a little more room to work with.
“baby i’m so sorry but can we please move to the other bed? this is so stiff and weird it’s killing me!” she broke away with a guilty smile as you couldn’t help but laugh quietly, unable to disagree as the two of you quickly moved back into your regular bed, taking up your normal positions.
“cuddles and back scratches please baby.” niamh requested tiredly after she’d flicked off the lamp, shuffling her taller body around to press into you just how she liked making you smile.
“back scratches.” she mumbled again, taking your hand and dropping it on her back as she pressed a few lazy kisses to your jaw, mumbling sweet nothings in your ear as your nails raked gently up and down her back.
“my needy niamhy.” you teased softly, affectionally kissing her forehead as she whined, pinching your leg for the nickname, eyes already squeezed shut and you knew it wasn’t long before she’d drift off, having done this little routine with her for years now.
“stop teasing me, i just love you and i wanna be all up and close to you.” she grumbled grumpily, squeezing you tightly to prove her point.
“sorry baby. camp champ just needs her cuddles, hm?”

James Middleton is publishing a memoir and parts of it is being serialized by the Daily Mail. Earlier this weekend, the Mail published an excerpt about James's experience with suicidal thoughts was published (I didn't share the link at the time because you can tell it was a very dark time in James's life).
But today, we have happier stories from his memoir!
The first story is about how Kate told James and Pippa she and William were engaged:
We sit in a corner, chattering quietly. Catherine whispers the news and says it will become public in the next day or so. Pippa and I want to be visibly excited, but we have to tamp down our emotions so no one suspects a thing. We make a quiet acknowledgement that we’ll always be there for each other, look out for one another, support each other. No matter how crazy things get. William has been in our lives for so long and we’ve grown very fond of him. He feels like our older brother and he and Catherine are so clearly a good fit, just right for each other. As we digest the news, I know I haven’t yet experienced the love they feel for each other myself. But I’m hoping one day I will. On the morning it is going to be announced, Catherine rings to let me know. I walk with Ella in Battersea Park savouring the secret knowledge and feeling a thrill of happiness for them. I remember tramping for miles that day and returning to our flat via Sloane Square Tube. The first edition of the Evening Standard was piled high. There on the front page was a picture of Catherine in her blue dress. I tucked a copy under my arm and walked home with a sense that it was all quite surreal. I thought how lucky William was to be marrying my capable, down-to-earth big sister, and I felt absolutely reassured that they were in love. It was beautiful to see how he brought out her confidence. She’d blossomed. I knew he’d look after her, and he does to this day.
The second story is about when William and Kate met Ella for the first time:
Mum and Dad have gone on holiday, and Catherine and William are staying at our family home. William has now become a fixture in our lives, established as Catherine’s boyfriend, a welcome member of the clan. I have not told him or Catherine about Ella. They know I am getting a puppy, but they don’t realise her arrival is imminent. So I let Ella announce herself; place her on the doorstep and allow her to make her entrance. She bounds into the kitchen to introduce herself to Catherine and William. ‘I thought you sounded a bit sheepish about something when you phoned,’ smiles William. ‘But whose is she?’ butts in Catherine. ‘She’s mine.’ ‘You’re not serious. Do Mum and Dad know?’ ‘Er… no.’ ‘So how are you going to tell them?’ ‘I haven’t got that far yet.’ There is laughter; I think even longing for them to have a dog of their own one day.
The third story is about James visiting Sandringham:
Whenever we visited Sandringham, the Queen, being a dog lover herself, welcomed Ella, and later her offspring Tilly and Zulu went, too. Her Majesty was always concerned about their wellbeing, and knowing the special place Ella held in my heart, allowed her unprecedented privileges. ‘Did you get my message, James?’ she asked me the first time I visited. ‘Ella is welcome to stay in your room.’ How thoughtful of the Queen to make a special concession for Ella. Naturally she wasn’t allowed to wander at will round the grand house, so I kept popping up to check on her and take her for walks. On one visit, I didn’t close the bedroom door properly, and Ella made it her mission to find me and demonstrate her annoyance at being left behind. I didn’t realise this until a footman glided up to me and whispered: ‘I believe your dog has found her way into the kitchen.’ ... Instead, with the understanding that comes from long association with dogs, she gave me a conspiratorial smile and said: ‘Well, dogs will be dogs.’ Everyone knows about her corgis, but few are aware that she also had a line of spaniels. One lunchtime, we were engrossed in a long conversation about them, and I was thrilled to discover she was extremely knowledgeable about the breed.

Bad Guy - Leah Williamson
Based on a request for more Angsty Leah
This ended up a lot different and longer than I expected it to. There is the potential for a part two if there is interest.
“Never have I ever, cheated on someone,” Ella spoke.
The lionesses playing the drinking game with water at their team bonding night, everyone spread out in the small hotel room. The night had moved from card games and movies to the game of Never Have I Ever to get to know each other a little more.
A few took bashful sips, admitting their previous infidelity, all looking guilty about their actions. Leah scoffed when she noticed Y/N does not take a sip.
“Seems fitting this is a question you choose to lie about,” the blonde rolls her eyes.
“I’m not lying,” Y/N mutters, keeping her head down, hoping someone else will continue the game and the attention would be taken off her.
Leah opens her mouth to bite back, “whatever,” she sneers instead when Millie sharply elbows her in the side.
The room sits in awkward silence for a moment, no one knowing what to say. Most wanted to ask more questions about the interaction, having never seen the either woman be anything but professional towards each other since their friendship had fallen apart only a few months ago.
“Umm, never have I ever, broken a bone,” Jordan spoke up to end the tense silence. She knew it would draw the attention off Y/N, so many of the players wanting to compete with who had the coolest or worst injury story.
Y/N played a few more rounds before quietly slipping out of the room. No one noticing until they hear the click of the door.
“Time for bed!” Millie was quick to usher everyone out of her before anyone could question Leah about her tense interaction with Y/N.
No one knew the cause of the fallout between the two friends. They had been friends since staring on the youth teams years ago, thick as thieves early on. Then, suddenly, Y/N was being sent on loan to Arsenal from Aston Villa and Leah wanted nothing to do with her best friend. Jordan and Rachel avoided Y/N their first international break after the loan, but seemed fine the next camp, both giving the older girl sympathetic looks. Leah would remain professional with her former best friend, but it was apparent something significant occurred within Y/N’s loan.
“Sorry,” Y/N mumbled as she almost walked into Leah as she walked out of the bathroom as Leah entered their shared room. Because of course they would be roomed together. Staff didn’t realize the tension in the friendship, leaving them paired as they normally were.
“I bet you are,” her tone saturated with in sarcasm, “nothing but lies coming out of your mouth.”
“I never cheated Leah,” Y/N whispered, standing at the end of her bed, face crumpling while she tried to convey her honesty to the blonde.
“Cut the shit, Y/N. I was there that night; we all saw you with that girl at the bar. We saw you fighting with Sydney before you left,” Leah squared her shoulders to confront Y/N, she wasn’t going to let Y/N deny her infidelity anymore.
“I know,” Y/N couldn’t meet the blondes eye, fiddling with the hem of her shirt, “but, it wasn’t what it looked like.”
“It wasn’t what it looked like,” Leah mocked her.
“I know it’s cliché, but It really wasn’t what it looked like.”
“Yeah? So what was it supposed to look like? Because, what it looked like, was you fighting with your girlfriend, then getting into a car of girls, and me being left with your crying girlfriend.”
“I didn’t get in the car,” Y/N whispered, but Leah wasn’t listening.
“That you kicked her out of your house only to show up at Arsenal. Single at that too!”
She glared Y/N down, eyes set, and jaw clenched, waiting for Y/N to answer. Sydney had been Y/N’s girlfriend of two years, the couple living together for one. She had grown close with the blonde, the pair loving to team up to make fun of Y/N. Sydney was the liaison for the marketing company for Aston Villa.
“I didn’t cheat, I didn’t get in the car that night,” Y/N repeated.
She knew how that night appeared to anyone watching on. That it easily appeared like Y/N and her girlfriend gotten into a fight, leaving her at the bar to get into a car full of girls. That she left her girlfriend in another city and moved to another team to avoid dealing with the consequences of her actions.
Leah continued to stare Y/N down, “if you want me to believe that, then what was it supposed to look like?”
Y/N let out a long sigh, scraping both hands down her face. She wanted to defend herself, to tell Leah the truth, but telling the truth also meant baring Sydney’s actions and she wasn’t sure she wanted to do that.
“I found out after the game that Villa wasn’t going to extend my contract. But they wanted to do whatever they could to squeeze as much money out of me before I left. They told a few teams interested that I was getting re-signed, even though I wasn’t, so that teams would bid for the loan rights. They hoped teams would sign the loan, then get a big transfer fee next season.”
Leah softened slightly, she couldn’t imagine being regarded only as a price tag, “this doesn’t have anything to with you supposedly not cheating.”
“I told Sydney before we went out. She didn’t really understand, hell I didn’t understand it, but she was mad because she thought it meant I was asking to be loaned out. When we went to the bar to get another round, she told me she was going to move out and went back to the table before I could say anything.”
Y/N sat on the edge of her bed with a defeated sigh, she might as well tell the whole story. She didn’t want to potentially ruin Leah’s friendship with Sydney, but she also couldn’t risk this to continue to put strain on their professional relationship.
“I thought that meant she didn’t want me around, so I decided to go home, let you guys enjoy the night. On the way out, there was a group of girls trying to get their friend in the backseat of the car to leave, but she was too drunk to stand, so I helped them. She got in the car, they left, and I went home.”
“But your car was still at the pub.”
“I walked; Sydney had the keys.”
Leah crossed her arms while she analyzed what Y/N told her. It was possible Y/N helped the group of girls, she always helped people around her. Y/N had hurt her wrist during the game and probably wouldn’t have been able to handle the gear shift to drive.
Taking the older girl in, Leah could see how tired she genuinely looked. How it looked like a struggle to just keep herself sitting upright and bags under her eyes when she would briefly make eye contact.
“She didn’t come home until the next afternoon.”
“She stayed with Jordan,” Leah snapped, she wasn’t going to let Y/N imply Sydney cheated to make herself sound better.
“I know,” Y/N nodded, “Jordan called me that night to yell at me when Sydney showed up there upset.”
Leah smiled a bit, she knew how protective Jordan could be and could imagine the earful she would have given Y/N, “good, you deserved it.”
“Damnit Leah, I didn’t cheat, and I didn’t kick her out!”
Y/N stood abruptly from the bed, frowning. Leah dropped her arms, mouth opening in shock at the sudden shift in Y/N.
“She broke up with me! She cheated! She told she found someone better, more attractive, that she never really found me attractive. I lived in a hotel for two weeks before Villa sent me to Arsenal like I was nothing!”
Y/N begun pacing the room.
“I had to miss training so I could pack my bags while she was at work. She got the house and everything in it and all I have is a couple bags and a few boxes.”
Leah didn’t know any of that. Sydney had told her Y/N kicked her out of the house and she believed it. And she certainly never said anything about seeing someone else. It was starting to be clear that Leah truly didn’t know the full story, or at least, not the true story.
“Why didn’t you say anything before?”
Y/N deflated at the question, sinking back down on the edge of the bed, “she was your friend too, I didn’t want to ruin that.”
Any anger the defender felt was gone now. Y/N had spent months protecting Sydney even though she didn’t deserve it. She had been taking the brunt of Leah’s anger without saying anything for months.
“I’m so sorry Y/N, I – “
“It’s alright. It was easier to be the bad guy in her story than fight it.”
Leah made her way across the room, sitting next to Y/N, her whole body pressing into Y/N’s side.
“It’s not alright, you took so much of my anger when you didn’t deserve any of it. You took Jordan and Rachels too.”
Leah sounded astonished when she spoke, realizing how terrible Y/N had been treated. That she tolerated everyone’s accusations and criticisms while dealing with the truth of the breakup and club loan alone. Y/N should have been angry at everyone and should have told them all the truth about her breakup.
“They figured it out when they took her for drinks,” Y/N shrugged and Leah could tell she was trying to detach herself while telling the story, “She showed up with her new girlfriend. I wasn’t even at Arsenal yet.”
Leah shook her head. She was so angry at herself now. How could she believe someone she knew two years over her best friend she had known for fifteen? She had been so blinded by her anger, she let herself be manipulated into believing her best friend would have done anything like that.
“I’m gonna go to bed,” Y/N pushed herself up.
Leah launched herself from the bed and into Y/N’s side, pinning her arms in place in a tight bear hug, “I am so, so sorry Y/N.”
“it’s alright, really.”
“It’s not!” Leah pulled away but kept her grip on Y/N’s and forced her to face her, “you went through all of that alone and you let yourself be the bad guy when you shouldn’t have.”
Y/N tried to pull away only for Leah to tighten her grip, one hand clasping the back of her neck so they are forced to meet eyes, “I cannot apologize enough for how I have been to you, but I want to make it up to you.”
“You don’t need to make it up to me. I just want us to go back to being friends.”
The blonde eagerly nodded at that, letting Y/N pull away this time to settle into bed.
Leah rushed to complete her bedtime routine before sliding into her own bed. She settles on her side to look over at Y/N facing away from her, chest rising and falling steadily, fast asleep.
Incessant buzzing wakes Leah far too early the next morning. Y/N mutters soft swears while frantically trying to silence the device and hide the bright screen to avoid waking her roommate.
The buzzing stops as Y/N throws a hoodie on and is leaving the room as the buzzing starts again. Leah can hear Y/N speaking in the hallway now, she tries to stay awake to make sure everything is alright but sleep quickly wins. Y/N isn’t in the room when she wakes again a few hours later. She gets ready for team breakfast and sits on her bed, waiting for Y/N to return, before rushing out the room when she realizes she’ll be late otherwise.
Y/N is already seated at a table away from everyone when she gets downstairs. She has her knees tucked up on the edge of her chair with her chin resting on them and a coffee cup clasped in both hands against her chest. Even across the room, Leah can see how exhausted she looks.
After making a plate, she begins to make her way towards Y/N but is stopped by a hand tugging her to a stop. Jordan shaking her head ‘no’, telling her to leave Y/N alone for the time being. Leah looks back over, debating if she should listen or not. Sighing, she settles next to the midfielder. They’re friendship just starting to be repaired.
“She told you the truth about Sydney,” it isn’t a question.
Leah nods slowly, unsure why it matters.
“Did you say anything to Sydney when you found out?”
Nodding again slowly, “I texted her when Y/N went to sleep and said I was upset she hadn’t told me the truth.”
Jordan clenched her jaw and nodded too, “Sydney is pissed.”
Leah quickly pulled her phone out to see If she had missed a message, furrowing her brow when she hadn’t.
“Not at you. She’ll take it out on Y/N.”
Her eyes quickly shot over to Y/N. Y/N’s phone was face down on the table, but she was staring intensely at it.
“That was the phone call,” she realized.
The midfielder nodded, already seeming to know what the morning had been like for Y/N.
“Even though they broke up months ago, she still texts Y/N almost every day. She’s,” Jordan pauses while she considers her words, “cruel with everything she has to say.”
“What do you mean?”
Jordan glances around the table, when she sees no one is paying attention to them she continues, “at first, she was mad Y/N wouldn’t stay her friend. Then it was that she turned Rachel and me against her. But it’s mostly attacking anything about her; her looks, her career, mocks her for being single or being upset with what happened. She’s truly ruthless.”
Leah is disgusted when she hears what someone she considered a friend was doing to Y/N. Guilt settling deep in her gut at how wrong she had been about the whole situation. Jordan can see the thoughts she once had pass across Leah’s face while she watches Y/N toss her phone back down.
“Rach and I thought the same too. She was convincing when she told us what Y/N supposedly did, I think she believes it herself that she didn’t do anything wrong. She was confused when we didn’t understand how she had the house and a new girlfriend while Y/N was stuck in a hotel in a new city.”
“How long did she have to stay in a hotel once she got to London?”
“She’s still in a hotel,” Jordan shakes her head. She knew Y/N had been so battered down, that she didn’t think Arsenal would keep her around long enough to make a flat wroth it.
Fortunately, there isn’t much time during the day for players to be on their phones. But during the breaks they do have, Y/N slinks away from the group to skim her few new messages. Each time she returns to the group, Leah can see her force a smile on her face, convincing everyone around she is fine. She does manage to put on a good show of being alright, but Leah can see right through the fraudulent smile and forced laughs.
Y/N’s phone vibrates on the night stand that night while she goes through her nightly routine in the bathroom. Leah ignores the first message, only for several more to follow, glancing at the screen she sees Sydney’s name.
“Sorry, I meant to silence it,” Y/N apologizes, and she takes it off the nightstand.
“Nothing to be sorry about,” the defender dismisses her, “Jordan said she’s pretty mean. I didn’t know she still messaged you, if I had, I wouldn’t have texted her last night.”
Y/N glances at the blonde, nodding slowly, before shrugging her shoulders while she skimmed the new messages and typing out a short reply before tossing the phone onto the bed next to her.
“Jordan only read them because she thought I was seeing someone,” Y/N gave what almost looked like a genuine smile, “my phone kept going off while we were out once. She stole it, thinking she would get some juicy messages. Once she saw what the messages were, she went through most of them.”
“I know I have no place to ask this, but can I see them?”
Leah could see her tense and bite her lip, clearly considering the question.
“Why didn’t you ask me about what happened that night? Or trust that I would never do something like that?”
The blonde nodded, they were valid questions, questions she had been considering since the night before.
“She was damn convincing. You weren’t you that whole night, then she came back to the table crying and you were outside with some girl draped all over you. It was all so believable, she made it believable.”
Y/N risked a small glance towards the other bed. Leah had propped herself up on an elbow, staring intently at Y/N. She couldn’t quite read the expression on her face, a mixture of pity and guilt maybe.
“I never thought you could do something like that. And she was so convincing. I was just blinded by my anger that I let myself be fooled. I am so sorry that I let myself be tricked and ruined our friendship when I should have just asked you.”
The pity was gone, guilt settled across her face.
Y/N wordlessly handed her phone across the space between the beds. Leah pushed herself to take the phone, settling on her back to read the messages.
Leah read the most recent messages first, slowly working her way backwards. Reading the vile things Sydney had been sending Y/N throughout the day, Y/N offering short messages to amend her ex’s anger.
Y/N fixed her gaze to the ceiling, unwilling to see the blondes reaction as she read the messages, unwilling to see her agree with Sydney.
The phone dropped after a minute of her reading the messages, Leah unable to finish see anymore, disgusted with the things sent. The messages all varied in length, but they all attacked Y/N in every capacity that she could. She criticized anything she could to get a reaction from Y/N.
Leah pushed herself to hang her legs off the side of the bed. She didn’t know what to do with herself, didn’t know what emotion was the strongest right now. Part of her wanted to storm out of the hotel and confront Sydney. Part of her wanted to wrap Y/N in the tightest hug possible and mend all the broken pieces. All she could bring herself to do was sit with her head in her hands.
“I, Y/N, fuck,” she could only stutter out, “I don’t even know what to say. Those are, she’s, those are all so fucked.”
Y/N shrugged, “is what it is.”
“it’s not! What she’s saying is so wrong and fucked up!”
Anger overtaking as she stood up, harshly running her hand through her hair, “you need to block her!”
“I can’t,” Y/N whispered.
Leah just looked at her, mouth opening and closing.
“I blocked her on socials and she lost it. When I tried to block her number, she took it out on Rach and Jords, messaging them and all that. She left them alone when I unblocked her.”
She shook her head, Y/N continued to protect everyone but herself.
“They can handle themselves; you don’t need to protect them.”
 Y/N stubbornly shook her head, refusing to accept that, “they don’t need to be part of this.”
Leah couldn’t believe Y/N was willing to continue to handle this all on her own. She sat herself on the edge of Y/N’s bed, gently placing a hand on her thigh, encouraging her make eye contact with her.
“I don’t have it in me to fight anymore, I never really did,” Y/N dropped her chin to her chest, shoulder rounded in, “I didn’t fight the breakup, I gave her the house, I didn’t fight anything she told people. I just want to be done with it.”
Her voice trembled, tipping her head back, hoping to keep the tears from falling.
“Looking back, I think she broke me down years ago.”
Leah’s heart ached as Y/N spoke, “I am so sorry Y/N.”
“It’s not your fault.”
“No, but I should have been there for you, I will be here for you.”
Leah eventually made her way back to her own bed, but sleep wouldn’t come, lying on her side watching Y/N tucked into herself. She couldn’t imagine how Y/N had handled the last months completely alone, while also having people viewing her as the bad guy in the story. Guilt rocked her, she was one of those people.
Y/N’s phone remained quiet the next day and Leah could see the relief it left Y/N with.
“You know, you and I are friends again,” Jordan spoke up when they were alone at their dinner table that night.
Leah furrowed her brow and slowly nodded, agreeing with the statement.
“It would be alright if anything started with the two of you,” Jordan gave her a small smile, “Gee told me how disappointed you were when Y/N started seeing Sydney a couple years ago.”
Leah blushed, anxiously running her thumb along her bottom lip, risking a glance to Y/N the table over. Jordan wasn’t wrong. She had been disappointed at the start of Y/N’s relationship. Her feeling had developed when Y/N had been such a good, supportive friend for both her and Jordan when they broke up, even before they broke up, supporting them when it became rocky.
It hadn’t been something she had expected to happen. She didn’t even know what it was that she was feeling, only realizing her attraction when Y/N excitedly told them about her new relationship at an international camp. The distress at the announcement, she immediately understood she was attracted.
“You would be really good for her. She needs someone to be good to her, and I think that’s you.”
“I didn’t even realize what I felt until I heard she was dating someone,” Leah felt a little defensive as she spoke.
Jordan was quick to place a reassuring hand on Leah’s arm, “it’s alright. I know it’s all new for you. And I’m not saying you should do anything about it. Just pointing out that you would be good for.”
Leah bashfully looked away, she would be lying if she said she hadn’t considered it at one point, she’d also be lying if she denied it being more than once.
“Last time I could get her to say anything about dating again, she said she swore it off because she doesn’t think she’s worth it anymore.”
The weight in her gut gets heavier the more she’s told about Y/N the last few months
“But I think she’s just waiting for someone to prove her wrong about it all.”
Leah is amazed at how easily Y/N can move past the months she had been treated so horribly. They easily return to being friends. The guilt is still weighing on her, but it eases slightly when she sees Y/N genuinely smile at her. Her attraction surging back to the front of her mind.
“Fuck!”
Leah rushes out of the bathroom when she hears Y/N’s phone hitting the wall. Y/N’s pacing aggressively, harshly running her fingers through her hair.
“What’s happened?” she picks up the phone, inspecting it to ensure it isn’t broken, placing it on the dresser.
“Arsenal cancelled my hotel room. I’m homeless when I get back to London.”
Leah jolts when Y/N kicks the bed.
“Good thing I don’t have any stuff to worry about,” she lets out a humourless laugh, kicking the bed a few more times.
After one last kick, Y/N crumples to the floor, wrapping her arms around her knees and tucking her head between them as sobs wracked her body. Leah rushes to her side, pulling her tight to her chest. Y/N doesn’t fight the action but keeps herself curled into herself.
“You weren’t supposed to find out that way.”
Y/N scrambles away.
“Shit, that sounds bad,” the blonde stays on the floor, “Arsenal cancelled your room because you’re going to move in with me. I was going to tell you once we got in bed, I just called them after dinner, I didn’t think they would tell you so fast.”
Y/N whirls around and stares down at the defender. Leah slowly pushes herself off the floor.
“You need a home Y/N, I want to give that to you,”
When Y/N doesn’t say anything, Leah frantically thinks of anything to say to fix it. Y/N crashes her body into Leah and the blonde can feel the tears soaking her shirt. She’s sure she’ll have bruises on her side where Y/N is gripping into her. Managing to pull a handout to rub up and down Y/N’s back as her sobs continue.
“Sorry, sorry, sorry,” Y/N pulls away, using the sleeve of her hoodie to try and wipe the snot smeared on the blonde’s neck.
Leah shakes her head, batting the hand away to pull her back into her, “you don’t need to be sorry or say anything. Just come live with me. I have a spare room; I want you to come stay in It.” Once Y/N nods, Leah guides her to lay in her bed, tucking her in.
The first week living together is awkward. If it wasn’t for the meals left for Leah and the fact that they carpool to training, she would think Y/N wasn’t staying there. Y/N is the perfect house guest, Leah’s house cleaner than when she moved in. But other than seeing her in passing, Leah hardly saw her new roommate.
Leah grabs Y/N’s arm immediately when they walk through the door, preventing her from running away.
“This your home now, too. You don’t need to hide in your room. Unpack, eat meals with me, shower here,” she emphasized, knowing Y/N hadn’t even showered at the flat yet, only showering at the training facility.
Y/N shrunk under Leah’s stare. She had been doing her best to remain as out of site at possible, whatever she could to avoid upsetting the blonde, “I wanted to stay out of your way.”
“And I want you in my way.”
Y/N shook her head, not understanding what she meant.
“I want you to live your life and feel comfortable.”
The next few weeks, Y/N does make an effort to leave her room more, making Leah smile. Y/N waits to eat her meals with Leah now, leaves a pair of shoes by the door, shower products along the tub edge.
“I blocked her,” she whispers between bites at breakfast, “Rach and Jordan did too.”
Leah lets her fork clatter to table as Y/N spoke.
“I am so, so proud of you Y/N,” she grips Y/N’s wrist across the table, her smile wide as her eyes crinkle.
Y/N just shrugs and continues to eat, but Leah keeps her hand where it is with her thumb rubbing across her wrist, picking up her fork to eat with her other hand.
This was a sign Y/N was healing, moving past the torment her ex had been putting her through for months. Y/N was moving in the right direction. Maybe Jordan was right, maybe she was the person Y/N needed to fix all her broken pieces.
“Have you thought of dating again?” Leah risked. She knew pursuing Y/N would require a lot of patience and understanding.
“A little bit, but not in the way you think,” Y/N harshly bit her lip, Leah wishing she could tug it away to safety, “I’m too broken to date, I think. No one wants to be with someone this ruined.”
Leah couldn’t imagine the pain Y/N must constantly be in to think so poorly of herself, to think that she was too damaged and undeserving of someone to be loved.
“You are not a reflection of people who couldn’t love you properly,” Leah’s grip tightens until Y/N makes eye contact with her, “I am sorry Sydney loved you so poorly and made you think you took up space you didn’t deserve and abandoned you and hurt you so badly you think love is an awful thing.”
Worried Y/N will start bleeding if she bites any harder on her lip, Leah does use her thumb to tug it out. She can feel it tremble under the pad of her thumb as she slowly drags it across the flesh.
Y/N runs her tongue over her lip when Leah’s thumb is gone, Leah’s steely eyes tracking the motion. She wanted to run away, worried she might do something and risk moving too fast. Leaving now though would ruin all the work she had done to regain Y/N’s trust.
Leah continues to show Y/N what love is. Opening her car door when they leave for training. Always letting her choose the show they watch. She attempts breakfast, bacon and eggs, but they ultimately end with cereal when she burns both. She increases physical contact; sitting close enough they touch on the couch, hand grazing her back as she walks past, tucking hair behind her ears.
Y/N adores all of it. But it makes her panic. She won’t go through all of this again. Won’t have someone show her love and care, only to rip it all away from her.
So, she runs away. Retreats back into her room. Goes back to leaving meals for the blonde to eat, leaving before the blonde wakes up, meeting her at training.
Leah stands outside Y/N’s room after training, so she knows Y/N’s in there. But this room has been her one safe space since moving in, the blonde doesn’t want to take that away from Y/N, doesn’t want her to feel trapped.
Steeling herself, she knocks on the door, three quick raps.
Y/N doesn’t look surprised when she opens the door. Just opens the door and shuffles back. Leah can see her bags packed on the floor next to the bed and the bed neatly made.
Choosing to ignore the bags for now, Leah settles on the edge of the bed, “I am sorry if I made you uncomfortable. I really like you and I was hoping I could ease you into idea of being in a relationship again. Unpack your things, I’ll back off.”
“I liked it,” Y/N whispers, sitting next to Leah, “but, I’m not the guy that gets the girl, no happy ending.”
“You already got the girl though,” Leah’s voice is soft as she speaks, “we can have the happy ending.”
“We can have the happy ending?’
“Not for a long time though, because we have to have a happy everything else first.”
Y/N tugs ones of Leah’s hands in her lap and rests head on her shoulder. Leah drops a gentle kiss to the top of her head.

Winter solstice
Azriel x f!Reader
Summary; celebrating winter solstice with your friends and your daughter.
Warnings; dad Azriel. (I think this is a fair warning)
Masterlist.
Just a quick thought I had.
Winter solstice finally came and Velaris looked even more beautiful than before. All the streets and stores were decorated with garlands and evergreen wreaths and even the mountains seemed festive with the layer of white that covered them.
Dela your one year old daughter was crawling around your bedroom as you got ready to go to the house of wind to celebrate with your family. You chose a midnight black dress that reached mid-thigh and a pair of black heels. You decided to wear more jewellery than usual to make your outfit less plain and checked your hair one last time before picking up your daughter.
She looked mesmerizing in the blue- the same shade as her daddy’s siphons- dress you picked for her.
“Dada” she mumbled when you walked out of the room.
“Yes baby we are going to daddy” you rolled your eyes, lately she’s been asking for Azriel all the time making you hate the word dada by the amount of times you heard it during the day.
“Dada!” She exclaimed once you reached the living room and Azriel raised from his seat.
“There’s my princess” he cooed and quickly took her from you. The small bat giggled and caressed her daddy’s cheek making his knees tremble. You always enjoyed watching Azriel melting whenever your daughter showed affection towards him.
“You look amazing angel” he told you and moved closer to leave a soft kiss on your forehead.
“Thank you my love” you smiled and picked the bag you had prepared with Dela’s bottles, diapers and extra clothes.
“Ready?” Azriel asked and headed to the door.
“I think so” you noticed Dela’s stuffed bat in the corner and gasped “we almost forgot Claude”
Azriel’s eyes widened and his face paled at the thought of putting her to sleep without her favorite toy.
“Mother above!” He murmured.
“Okay ready” you announced and walked to them.

You landed at the house of wind and walked inside, everyone was there sitting around the table while Nyx and Ella- Cassian’s and Nesta’s daughter ran around the house screaming and laughing.
“Hello” you smiled and your family immediately got up to kiss you and most importantly to greet Dela. Nyx and Ella were grown now and ignored the adults so, everyone gave their attention to your daughter.
You watched as she was passed around, kicking her feet and giggling as everyone kissed her and cooed.
“Finally some time to relax” Azriel whispered to you and you nodded. At first you felt guilty for enjoying these moments of freedom, but now after a whole year with the baby the guilt completely disappeared, after all you were still in the same room with her.
You all enjoyed your dinner except for Elain who asked if she could feed Dela, she placed the baby chair between her and Lucien and started a story as she fed your daughter.
You watched the little bat terrorizing Cassian after dinner, and giggled. He was bouncing her on his thigh enjoying her giggles and stopping when he got tired, your daughter though kept shouting “Again” every time he stopped so the poor giant kept bouncing her until he was panting.
“Come on Del I can’t keep doing this” he whined
“ Again” she pouted.
Cassian shook his head and started bouncing her once again.
“Cass I wouldn’t do that if I were you she just….” Your mate was cut off by your daughter who puked. “…ate” he concluded with a sigh.

After Cassian and Dela were clean again you moved to the living room, enjoying your wine and the warmth of the fireplace. You watched all your friends on the ground singing and playing with your daughter and smiled. Azriel noticed too and wrapped an arm around your shoulders pressing you against him and kissing your temple.
“We’re so lucky” you murmured.
“I know” he smiled and leaned his head on yours.
Your little girl glanced back at you giving you a toothy grin before turning her attention back to your friends.
It's a small one because I didn't have any free time today <3
