"You know what I just realized? So, if you make The Sims 2 large address aware, it can use 4GB of memory. But back then when people used Windows XP, it was way more stable... and most people used 32-bit Windows XP since 64-bit was pretty much still in beta, which means that the game had a hard 2GB cap, you couldn't make it use more than that. And on top of that, the graphics cards back then only had a few megabytes of VRAM - MEGAbytes, we now use a minimum of 8GB! Yet, people used loads of CC even back then and the game was way more stable than now, so I just don't see how this is supposed to be a memory issue, no matter how you look at it."

we talk a lot about shen qingqiu and liu qingge being autistic but its important to me that also shen jiu was autistic. but because he was 1. poor 2. a slave and 3. the villain it isnt used to excuse his behavior/personality the way it is for shen qingqiu and liu qingge

Why is the starshine au not in the master document for your aus? Are you still thinking about what the story could be about in a long way??
i just haven't updated the document in a while!! i made it before i decided to make starshine an actual AU instead of a one-off thing. monster detective among a few others aren't in it either because they're newer.

The History of Love by Nicole Krauss. The unexpectedly connected stories of a lonely old man, a novelist (or is he?), and the girl named after a character in that novel.
The Death I Gave Him by Em X. Liu. Hamlet retelling where the family was working on cutting edge biomedical research and Horatio is a sentient AI.

I think one of the most painful aspects of writing a long as fic is that sometimes you just REALLY wanna write something that happes way later down the line and it makes writing the current segments harder, not necessarily because you're not enjoying what you're writing now, just that your brain jumping to some crazy thing way ahead of time.

I am unfortunately a huge stick in the mud about canon compliance in everything i enjoy but i suffer in silence so as not to make people feel bad about not playing by the rules. mentally censoring and disregarding anything i deem incorrect when reading others works the same way they do looking at canon so i don't go insane

The verb shanks uses being also break up/divorce is sending me. I’m going to be delulu and decide it is what Oda meant. Buggy burned their wedding certificate. /joking
Btw if you ever feel need to talk about buggy just go for it, it was one of the best analysis I saw recently on this site. /genuine
Where were you hiding all those years I needed you/joking
(context for the divorce comment)
the joke usually goes that the person burning the marriage certificate thinks it's like a receipt and now their partner can't get rid of them... of course buggy knows it's much more like a product registration form, and without it shanks can't get any of the support promised in the warranty!
& thank you!! people have been so very kind in their response to my thoughts! i don't have anything new and buggy-specific to say at the moment, i'm afraid—i have fic ideas, but i think we may be at the point where i need more material to read before i can generate meta without someone prompting me—though i did just find some buggy meta that was posted not long after 1082 came out that melted my brain a little. that should be coming out of my queue in a week or so!

there's a LOT to appreciate about fallout nv, but I never see anyone point out the fact they didn't give your character a backstory. just... you were doin a job and got shot in the head about it. and then fallout 4 is like "your character is married and has a child" and I'm like "no he is not. whose baby is this"

what everyone was like as a grub (child):
dylan: insanely sticky child, got told to be the dog a lot when playing house and was significantly more of a follower than a leader in regards to anything. drew on her arms with markers and had a new crush or "boyfriend" every week, wrote love notes, passed out valentine's. still cried a lot. over everything.
stéphanie: sheltered, unsociable, studious. focused on her books at school and didn't hang out with anyone outside of school—helped her mom run her own diner a lot, learned to cook with her. found doing chores more often than like. going outside. not a sticky child because her mom made her wash her damn hands.
dorothea: INSANELY muddy child. lazier than she is now, shy around adults, curious and bubbly around other children. played in the mud and picked up trash to keep a lot. screamed at bugs. still kind of screams at bugs. started adoring cars early on and getting in trouble for taking things apart without asking.
[locked]: hell on wheels. playground bully who only bullied you if she had a crush on you, and she had a crush on everyone. always injured and sticky. literally bit people. went home and watched movies because being that much of a terror doesn't leave you with very many friends after school.
