I would also like to see some miphlink, if that's okay!
I was really struggling with what to draw, and then I remembered your ask from ages ago (dang ADHD brain...) anyway, sorry its such a late answer, but Miphlink inspired by Dicksee's La Belle Dame
#thank you so so much for the ask stars!! I had completely forgotten about it (I'm so so sorry!!) and it saved me from an artist-not-arting#you know the sort of pent up unpleasant feeling you get when you need to do something creative but its not happening and then its sad?#yeah I didn't get that because your ask suddenly popped into my head! so very happy about that :) thank you!#link is a horse girl and we need more of it in life#also to try and get the flowy fabric look that Dicksee's La Belle Dame has without putting Link in a dress I decided to modify Mipha's fins#and then added some of that gorgeous salmon colour from the original piece#also the reason the reason the champions tunic etc have that grey tinge to it is because the knight was wearing armour in the original piec#with a beautiful duckegg blue grey colour and I thought including that might be fun too!#anyway#the couple that is perfect for one another and should always be together for all time: Mipha and Link#mipha#link#botw#creativesplat draws#breath of the wild#miphlink#lipha#I really need to catch up on the miphlink tag... its so exciting to have so much wonderful art and writing to look through but I am a rathe#busy/ adhd forgetful bean so whenever I get round to reading or looking at art... there will be a long reblog/ queue of miphlink stuff!#eventually#at some point#because fashionably late (coughjustlatecough) is my middle name!#enough rambling sorry#I love drawing miphlink its like a comfort drawing thing#like her head is so squidgy and so easy to doodle so if ever my brain is bored or I want to draw and need happy hormones but can't find the#mipha is the answer because the squishy head is just sooooo good#the designers of mipha were amazing and I love them#epona#tloz#zelda

ppl talking about halamshiral clothes makes me thinking about how ameridan likes the inquisition uniforms for being gender neutral because da, like bg3 and pretty much any fantasy setting with "no gender norms", do the thing were explicitly feminine things are still gendered while masculine things are not. like women wearing pants and doing activities historically reserved for men are normal and not seen as them moving outside of the expectations for their gender (aside from the few instances where they are, but they always seem out of place to me because they're so rare) but men wearing dresses/skirts are rarely seen and would be a statement if they were. it's not actual neutrality male is just the default ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
#ooc ( bird noises )#ofc we have done the same thing irl for a looong time but#also how soldiers keep being referred to as 'men' at least in da#and i know that word at one point meant people of any gender#but it's never used to refer to say the people of say a city#it's pretty much always soldiers#which to me reinforces them being seen as primarily male#anyway im not saying ameridan would wear a dress necessarily but i am saying he misses the long gowns/tunics of the divine age#that were more or less the same for everyone#he doesn't want to make a dramatic exit from the gender binary he would just like to walk calmly out the back door

Yes, 100%! Even Ancient China had a lot of loose fitting garments (usually tunics for the general population) that pretty much acted like skirts. Even the men who wore Ku (pants in Chinese) had to wear a wrap-skirt over it because of the open crotch design (pre and during the Warring states). The pants during the Han period changed most to look like the pants we know now (more tighter fitting and almost full coverage) however they still wore what are essentially skirts over it. Even now in modern adaptations, so many Chinese, Korean and Japanese historic dramas include flowing robes that are layered and around ankle height yet you don't see anyone complaining that they couldn't possibly ride a horse in robes or work in a kitchen or couldn't be useful because they were wearing robes etc etc. (Of course elements of drama can change things such as when fantasy is part of that drama, a watcher can suspend their disbelief at fighting monsters in flowing robes but still!)
There are differences in names and features between each cultures robes however I won't expand further so feel free to do some more research yourself.
A slight deviation from the skirts commentary but one I still thought relevant!
Feminist fantasy is funny sometimes in how much it wants to shit on femininity for no goddamned reason. Like the whole “skirts are tools of the patriarchy made to cripple women into immobility, breeches are much better” thing.
(Let’s get it straight: Most societies over history have defaulted to skirts for everyone because you don’t have to take anything off to relieve yourself, you just have to squat down or lift your skirts and go. The main advantage of bifurcated garments is they make it easier to ride horses. But Western men wear pants so women wearing pants has become ~the universal symbol of gender equality~)
The book I’m reading literally just had its medievalesque heroine declare that peasant women wear breeches to work in the field because “You can’t swing a scythe in a skirt!”
Hm yes story checks out
peasant women definitely never did farm labour in skirts
skirts definitely mean you’re weak and fragile and can’t accomplish anything
skirts are definitely bad and will keep you from truly living life
no skirts for anyone, that’s definitely the moral of the story here
#hell yeah#pants and skirts are for anyone#sewing/cooking/other 'feminine-coded' skills are for everyone#clothing#but if you wanna dress as an ancient roman...you're gonna need a skirt/long tunic#historical#discussion

Linen Love: A Breezy Essential for Every Wardrobe
For years, my summer wardrobe consisted of a monotonous rotation of cotton t-shirts and flowy dresses. While comfortable, they lacked a certain je ne sais quoi — a touch of effortless elegance that screamed “summer chic.” Then, I discovered linen. It was a revelation.
The first time I slipped into a linen shirt, I was instantly smitten. The fabric, woven from the flax plant, felt cool and crisp against my skin. Unlike cotton, which tends to cling uncomfortably in hot weather, linen offered a delightful breathability. It was like wearing a gentle summer breeze.
Since then, linen has become a cornerstone of my warm-weather wardrobe. It’s not just about comfort anymore; it’s about the versatility and timeless style that linen offers. Here’s why I believe linen deserves a prominent place in everyone’s closet:
The Comfort Factor: A Summertime Savior
Living in a place with scorching summers, the struggle to stay cool is real. Linen is a godsend in this regard. Its hollow fibers allow for excellent air circulation, keeping you feeling fresh and comfortable even on the hottest days. Additionally, linen has impressive moisture-wicking properties. It absorbs sweat efficiently, preventing uncomfortable clamminess and unsightly sweat patches.
Beyond Summer: A Fabric for All Seasons
Contrary to popular belief, linen isn’t just for scorching temperatures. Its natural insulating properties make it surprisingly versatile. Layering a linen shirt under a light jacket or cardigan allows you to wear it comfortably during cooler spring and fall evenings. In fact, linen sheets are popular for a reason — they keep you cool in summer and provide a light layer of warmth in winter.
Durability You Can Count On
Linen is surprisingly strong and durable. Unlike some delicate fabrics, linen garments can withstand frequent washing and wear. With proper care, they’ll become softer and even more comfortable over time. This translates to a more sustainable wardrobe, as your favorite linen pieces will last for years to come.
Effortless Elegance: Linen’s Style Statement
Linen’s natural texture adds a touch of sophistication to any outfit. It drapes beautifully, creating a flattering silhouette that works for all body types. Whether you prefer a classic button-down shirt, a breezy maxi dress, or a relaxed pair of linen pants, the fabric elevates your look with a touch of understated elegance.

#ill need to research clothes more though even though i understand the basics#and tbh l. furius is mostly seen in toga+tunic and c. martinus in a plain tunic when he doesnt Have to wear the toga. but i need more casua#outfits for them...#for both of them i need to strike a balance between socially acceptable clothes and clothes they would like to wear. bcs c. martinus would#go around naked if he could. he is dressing as sluttily as possible all the time. he has that antonystyle short tunic thing going on... and#he also likes all things luxurious so he definitely has at least one outrageously purple outfit. and l. furius is soooo worried about how#hes percieved but he also likes to cover up as much as possible/wear loose baggy clothing. i imagine (and ive drawn it too)him wearingloose#robes with long sleeves around the house but its not something he could be seen in in public unless he wants to get made fun of . he also#wears mostly dark colors but i have to strike a balance between his boring taste in clothes and ones he looks good in... +i should#also give him some frumpy ass fits because he wouldnt really know how to dress himself that well tbh (caecilia probably helps him pick#outfits that look good though) anyway he tends to wear tunics that are very long and loose to cover as much of himself as is reasonably#socially acceptable. and no one has commented on it so far due to his intimidating vibe. at least not to his face#ficposting#also l. furius wouldnt have as many different clothes as c. martinus bcs he was pretty broke for a long time. so a lot of his are old
