Anyway leaving the Charles-Lando custody fight (+ Oscar i g). We need soft fernando and baby carlos moment 🤲 (srry lance but you need to step aside for this one, nando’s baby is here so 🫶)

omg yesss i feel like i havent focused on this enough !! lance is definitely pouty about it but even he knows hes fighting a losing battle when it comes to shy little big brown eyed carlos

after he gets babified, he gets offered multitudes of racing and chili-themed plushies/clothing/items from all kinds of people

but despite this his most prized possession is a big plush meerkat that was gifted to him by fernando that he custom ordered with a little ferrari shirt on. when he presented it to little carlos his eyes lit up and he immediately made grabby hands for it and now carries it all around the paddock. in the days following he immediately recieves a new collection of team merch shirts specially made for his meerkat (courtesy of all the other drivers) and fans love to document what shirt the meerkat is wearing today

fernando also loves to lug carlos around w him to all of his press engagements so that he can answer less questions and get out faster. he also loves showing off his shy little boy to all of the presenters and many a press conference has been derailed by fernando cooing over carlos falling asleep or vrooming around with his little cars. no one has been brave enough to ask fernando to leave carlos behind

I know I have joked many times about "Barnaby is Polish!" However, just for the fun of it, I would like to talk about some correlations that strengthen this assertion in my mind. I hope it may entertain you, and maybe you will join me in my little headcannon corner!

Firstly, his circus profession! Within Poland, with a particular big boom around the 60-70s, Poland began to have more political autonomy as well as also having less state-owned publishers; which meant more creative freedom. Alongside this, culture had taken center stage within Poland. (source) The result? Circus posters. Lots. Or what you may or may not recognize as CYRK; which means circus, of course! They were generally colorful, absurd, and head-turning advertisements for circuses.

Secondly, Poland holds humor in very high regard. If you take a glance to the Polish films, there is one of two genres. War, and comedy. I would greatly argue that this is due to the social and political factors, but that is a different rambling. Due to this, comedy is everywhere! Poland tends to favor a lot of dark comedy and tragic comedy (unsurprisingly) along with wordplay! That is not to say it has any particular edge over any other cultures, but I can speak from experience in a Polish family that it is very much true.

Roosters are very prominent within Polish folk art! Although not quite a chicken, i find it close enough. Roosters are prominent for their symbolism of courage, strength, protection, and vitality. Maybe in some way of looking at it, you could consider Barnaby a Rooster for having a chicken mom, but it's more of a stretch of a funny thought. There is not much to say here, but look at any Polish art or clothing long enough, and sooner or later Roosters will plague you.

Other interensting cultural notes: There is a saying of "Gość w domu, Bóg w domu" which literally translates to "Guest in the home, God in the home". This is because Polish hospitality is taken extremely seriously. Guests are treated like a "God", you do not trouble them! I think about this saying sometimes and wonder what kind of implications that could cause within the setting of Welcome Home.

i think tumblr having community notes would be genuinely useful for misinformation but this is also the misinformation website & ppl wouldnt care as long as its funny. which would then mean ppl getting mad at the community notes for "ruining the joke"

However: sometimes posts have important context that gets buried in replies or reblogs & being able to tack on a note to the og post that gets seen no matter which version you reblog would actually be cool. imagine those "this post was made by a trans person" banners but permanently stuck to the post itself so terfs cant get their nasty hands on it

PLUS for "is the animal video cute" posts, the response will be visible to everyone via community note so ppl dont accidentally spread videos of animals in distress bc they missed the context

theres also no reason a community note cant still be funny as long as its also informative!! would the community notes be misused to further a joke sometimes? yes, this is tumblr. but i think it could be a net positive for the above reasons

edit: ALSO!!! when art gets stolen & reposted, you can have a lil note saying so & pointing ppl to the artist!!! cmooonnnn
