I really wanted to discuss about umm...the...Osix...ship.... And also about Felix as a character. I'm not an expert though, I literally met him in a fan comic... And no, it wasn't the babtqftim comic...

I joined this fandom thanks to this comic, although it's not even a fandom, or not at all.

I don't remember the name of it, maybe it was old time or old toons, but I compiled some of the best parts of the comic, focusing on Felix.

This is going to be long... But like really long...

This is the first version of Felix I met, probably not the best one (probably the worst one)... At least his personality changes throughout the comic, being "nicer"

The notes seem pretty normal to me, got one comment saying something like “op didn’t deserve the harassment” and I’m confused what they meant? There’s just some people disagreeing or correcting me on stuff

Haven’t personally seen many tankie blogs on here to feel wary like that but I am like that with YouTubers so I get it lol. I don’t think it’s romanticizing the Soviet Union to like some stuff from it. I pretty openly talk about liking Soviet cartoons, I grew up watching them and my art style is influenced by them, there’s lots of cool Soviet art in general and they made cool scientific achievements. It was a repressive authoritarian regime that committed atrocities but it’s also a place a lot of regular people lived in up until pretty recently and it’s where my entire family is from. It’s like how it’s not American exceptionalism to like southern food or jazz music

I love love love that the ccs will be forced to use the translator in order to communicate with the new ccs joining qsmp because that’s what it’s there for!!!!! it’s a translator!!! use it to translate, even if both of you are able to speak the same language!

I don’t see enough people use the translator, especially when the ccs are both able to speak (usually) english, and it’s still great that they can speak easier if they speak the same language, but the language barrier is one of the causes for the creation of the qsmp! Let the language barrier be a barrier in the first place, and let the translator do the work it was meant to do!

Let people who physically can’t speak the same language interact! It’s part of what makes qsmp qsmp, and even though it has impacted hugely just from adding people who generally create content and talk in different languages, I do think it somewhat lacks in the people speaking different languages category, because while that is true, it is also somewhat untrue in that all of the ccs can speak one of the same language (usually english), even if they’re not a natural at it!

Now, that’s not a bad thing at all! But, it does blur the speaking different languages problem that was meant to occur in qsmp. They speak different languages! Let them speak whatever language they want and let the translator do the work! Again, that is what it is there for! It is a translator! (I’m looking at you twitter)

And even if it takes a million repeats of the same sentence for someone to finally get what another person is trying to say, a hundred fuck-ups of the translation or a thousand language barrier/cultural miscommunications, again, qsmp was made for this to happen! It was made so people who come from different backgrounds and are usually unable to interact because of cultural/language barriers can interact, whether it start out negative or positive!

And I trust them (the ccs and fans) to communicate if controversy/confusion happens culturally and language-wise, and (hopefully) for the fans to not turn anything minor** into a huge drama, so I am extremely excited to see the ccs be forced into using the translator!

there was once a young little shark that was a bit of an outcast among the other aquatic animals, because they feared him for his predatory reputation. "every shark must be bad": said the fishes. "every shark will always be cruel and mindless": said the seahorses. "sharks can only destroy but never love" added the octopus.

the shark was hurt and upset by these words. he was still so little and his intentions were always pure. never had he ever hurt anyone with his teeth. but the others would always be deadly afraid of him.

there was a couple days passing and whenever he showed up the same things were being said to him. though one day he swam around and none of the aquatic animals were to be found, no fishes, no seahorses, no octopi. he wondered were they would go until he spotted a diver nearby. his net full of sea creatures. the little shark would draw closer and he was able to spot those that would always call him names. he felt unsure about what he was about to do next but he couldn't help himself. he was doing the right thing in his mind... with a big charge he bit the diver in the arm. the diver immediately let go off of the net and the animals swam free. upon release they looked at the shark and then fled.

the next day they would meet again and they would thank the little shark. they had judged him wrongly and they felt sorry about it. the shark replied. "fear can blur a vision. I acted out of love and the only bad I know is the people that want to harm us. let's not harm each other."

the memory

His first memory was a woman.

He didn't remember her face or her name but he remembered her voice. She sang songs for him and told stories and even though he didn’t understand most of the words he always listened to her and feels himself spellbound.

She called him my angel.

My beautiful bright angel…

He remembered her touch, the warmth of her hands, her smell, the taste of her milk on his lips.

There were a lot of things in their room; a lot of books, a lot of boxes with clothes and food, but she was always in the middle. She was center oh his small universe.��

He remembers how she coughed.

It was a sharp tuneless sound which burst into the silence of their home no matter how hard she tried to hold it.

The woman was still singing but less often and more quietly.

Her songs became sadder no matter how hard she tried to smile.

Her voice often broke and she cried with silent tears. He couldn’t understand why and also cried with her.

Sometimes people came to them. He was so afraid of other people's voices, all the smells they brought with them, unpleasant and pungent. He tried to hide and sit quietly in the corner until they left.

Once the woman coughed all night and he lay next to her and cried.

And then she fell silent.

More strangers came and he climbed under the blanket so that no one would notice him.

He lay there alone for a long time; sometimes he slept, sometimes he cried.

But soon he got hungry and he got out but didn’t see the woman anywhere.

She disappeared.

He walked around the room stumbling and falling (he just barely learned to walk) but the woman was gone.

Then he hid in a corner again and covered himself with a blanket, crying and shaking and didn’t understand what happened and why she left him alone.

Many hours or many days have passed, he didn’t know how to count time.

And then came the man with a loud voice. He was angry for some reason and he smelled bad, he grabbed the child by his leg and pulled him out from under the blanket.

“There you are, Peter!” shouted the man.

Who is Peter thought the boy.

“You, yes you, little shit!”

Peter was his name.

Now he remembered.

Okay, so... Can we please stop pretending that Zuko's ponytail looks ridiculous/silly/atrocious/etc? (The key word is pretending. If you really think it looks silly, this post is not for you lol).

I mean... it could look silly. On any other guy, it totally could. That's the thing though: somehow* it just doesn't. With Zuko's facial features, scar and the whole "exotic fantazy fire prince" thing going on, he can totally afford this haircut.

*(by the might of good character design, really)

I dunno, I just have this feeling that many people keep repeating this "ugly ponytail" platitude thoughtlessly without really looking at Zuko in season 1 like me.

Well, I looked at him now. He's kinda hot.

(... as hot as an angsty 16-year-old can be, anyway).

Honestly, for me, the ponytail is more preferable than the popular season 3 shaggy hairstyle (which, again, could look good in theory, but... In practice I'm not a big fan of it most of the time). At least with ponytail I can see Zuko's eyes properly, which I pretty much appreciate, lol.

It's always like "Ooh, your previous haircut was sooo awful, but now!.." in fics, and... I just don't see it this way, that's all.

So, ponytail rights, yay!

I'm trying to get into the habit of writing ideas/first drafts on a notebook

While I can and do use the text on my computer as reference, somehow not having the scattered ideas all around me allows me to concentrate better, because I'm not committed to anything and I can think more freely. Plus, something about the act of writing with a pen makes me overthink less: my brain accepts that this is just the first version, and I'll have to type it again anyway, so I don't get as stuck regarding the words or sentences flow.

It doesn't help completely against the physical block in my brain that I have to smash with a hammer, that reluctance to sit down and commit and think and fail, but it's a pretty good tool against overperfectionism! I recommended it a try 👍

look i love being a humanities student and all, but constantly debating everything and criticizing societal norms and views in every single lesson gets tiring really quickly. and today my prof said that most humanities academics are on the more liberal side of things. which is not at all surprising. but being too liberal is not necessarily a good thing.

it gets to a point where it's just like there is no right and there is no wrong. it just is. everything is just is.
