That's very subjective!

For me personally, I'm totally fine with how it's played out. We get enough tidbits every season/developments with their dynamic that I'm pretty content. I also just think that when the time comes, how they choose to reveal that information to us (and especially to MK) will have optimal impact!

There were a lot of things Macaque learned since his reincarnation, especially about himself. One thing he never thought would have to be that seeing men around you made his skin crawl. In the few months you've known each other, seeing you smile with someone that wasn't him made his skin crawl. Seeing you laugh and smile with someone else made his skin crawl, and seeing someone make physical contact with you made his fur stand on end, and he often found himself snarling with his tail twitching uncontrollably. 

Unfortunately for Macaque, a certain Monkey King had witnessed the snarling this time. Wukong smirked mischievously when he saw what had made his beloved friend so… primal. He studied Macaque closely as the male, he forgot his name, constantly flirted with you. Now, usually Wukong would have put the guy in his place for bugging you… BUT SEEING MACAQUE LIKE THIS WAS SO FUCKING HILARIOUS! 

The male in question was the one you went on a double date with, from what you had told Wukong, it was when you saw Macaque again. Did he get past his jealousy at how close you got to the other demon? Course not, but he eventually learned to get over himself since you seemed happy when you told him about what happened that day, and how your date went. 

Since then, Wukong and basically everyone else, but you noticed how possessive Macaque was where you were concerned, especially if you get hit on. 

Sooo… like right now. As you promised, you visited the noodle shop the first chance you got. You ‘just so happened’ to run into Macaque on the way there so you invited him to tag along and enjoyed small talk on the way there. What you didn't expect though was to see a familiar face, well, faces. One of them being Wukong, who was enjoying noodles and talking with MK, the other being your friend Sofia and her boyfriend Jeremy.

At first, you didn't acknowledge Sofia and her company sitting at a table, only focused on your belly as you ordered a nice big bowl of noodles that Pigsy was eager to get. Sofia was the one to acknowledge you first, waving you over, but you motioned for her to give you a minute.

Why is this tool here? Macaque thought to himself in annoyance, Wukong snickering silently when he noticed his old friend’s pout.

“Aren't you hungry?” you turned your attention to Macaque with a smile, taking account of his sour mood. “You okay, Mac?”

The nickname made his heart race for some reason, and he had to look away from you. After a few seconds, he offered you a simple nod before he too ordered a bowl of noodles.

“(Y/n)!” Sofia yelled at you over.

“I said wait!” you snapped at your impatient friend before carefully taking the delicious bowl of noodles. “I'll be right back,” you looked at Wukong and MK.

“Take your time,” Wukong grinned as MK too waved you off with a reassuring smile.

“Sorry,” you smiled at Macaque, “you can join us if you want.”

“You go, I'll be here,” he assured, not trusting himself to be close to the male and risk hurting him.

“Suit yourself,” you shrugged and walked over to Sofia’s table with your bowl.

He was being so obvious about it, but you were oblivious to it… or maybe you just didn't care? Who knows. With Macaque falling more into his animalistic side as the time went on, Wukong had entertainment to last him years. Growling and hissing quietly, everyone was expecting the guy to disappear when this was all over, if he was lucky enough to stay alive that long. 

The group all watched as you greeted Sofia, then looked at Macaque who glared daggers at the male who tried talking to you, then back to you. You weren't looking forward to talking to him again, so you tried to collect yourself the closer you got to the table, having no choice but to sit next to him and talk to Sofia who sat in front of you.

“What’s wrong, bud?” Wukong’s voice never failed to irk him. “Jealous that your pretty girl’s getting hit on?”

Something about you being called his girl made his heart race again, hearing it from Wukong felt like an acceptance he didn't know he craved. His eyes lingered on you for a while before Wukong leaned in front of him to see his face.

“You really gonna sit here and brood?”

“I'm not brooding, I don't brood,”

“Sure you don't, bud,” he patted Macaque’s shoulder and sat beside him again. “You better not disappoint me, ya know.”

“What are you talking about?” Macaque looked at Wukong with a raised brow.

“I've decided to give you a chance to be with (Y/n),” he stated as if it were obvious. “Don't make me regret it~” he glanced at you and the male who sat beside you. “You aren't gonna let some human guy take her from you… are you?”

“She doesn't want him,” Macaque brushed him off and turned to eat his noodles. 

“Oh yeah? And how would you know that, tough guy?” he raised a brow, curious about Macaque’s confident posture.

“You didn't see how annoyed she was with him that day,” he glanced at Wukong.

“People change,” Wukong sang teasingly as he got up in Macaque’s face. “Case in point, you're all in love~”

“Shut up, moron,” he shoved Wukong’s face away from him. “She's facing away from him, focused on her friend and not making eye contact with the guy.”

“Oh~” Wukong smirked teasingly, “you're really studying her while acting all cool and collecting,” he leaned into his ear. “But we both know that seeing her close to that guy is making your blood boil,.” his grin grew when he noticed the shadow under Macaque seemed to grow. “I'm proud though, way to work on your self-control, man.”

“Hey, did you get to see that new movie showing? I heard it’s really good,” the voice got their attention and they both focused on you. 

“No, I didn't get the chance to see it yet,” you said boredly before slurping your noodles. This would have to be the first time you acknowledged him since you sat down.

“We should go see it sometime, while it’s still showing,” Lin Shi, desperate determined to get a second date out of you, suggested with a smile. 

“No, thanks, I'm good,”

“Why not?” he tilted his head and leaned in close to see your face. “Didn't you like our last date?”

It was infuriating. You thought to yourself, but chose not to respond.

“C'mon, lay off man, she's not interested,” Jeremy said, but was ignored.

“One chance,” he said softly with a smile he thought was charming.

“Don't want to,” you glanced at him. “Like ever,” you added, but it was clear he didn't know when he was beaten.

“C'mon, one night won't hurt anyone,” he chuckled softly, attempting to touch you but he couldn't move.

“You'd be surprised,” Macaque snarled, finally cutting in, using his ability to secure Lin Shi by his shadow. “She said she doesn't want to go with you,” Lin Shi looked at Macaque with a raised brow.

“I wasn't talking to you, monkey boy,” he said and motioned for him to beat it. “Now move before I make you.”

“Are you challenging me?” Macaque chuckled in amusement. 

“Macaque, don't,” you warned, trying to avoid a fight.

“Better listen to her, wouldn't want to hurt you too bad,” he glared at the dark themed primate.

“Lin, cool it, man. Don't go picking a fight,” his friend, Sofia’s new boyfriend, tried to calm things down before they escalated.

“Trust me, you don't want to pick a fight with him,” you warned, looking at Wukong with a ‘help me’ look, but he only smiled at you and gave an ‘oh well’ shrug. 

This damn bastard is just enjoying the show! You thought to yourself in annoyance. I'm gonna thump him when this is over!

“You think I'm afraid of some monkey demon?” He laughed a bit, his red eyes making an appearance and took you both by surprise. The lack of shock from Jeremy and Sofia made it clear they already knew he was a demon. 

Seeing someone’s true colours really is something to behold… you thought to yourself as you watched Shin. 

“Oh ho, so you're a demon too, huh?” Macaque tilted his head a bit, clearly amused. 

“What of it, emo boy?” Lin Shi glared.

“Oh boy,” you mumbled.

Before Macaque could react, you did something that shocked everyone, Wukong and MK’s jaw dropped as you grabbed him and kissed him like your life depended on it. It was rash, but it calmed him down real quick. You slowly pulled back, looking at him as his face flushed darker.

“Not how I thought our first kiss would happen, but I’ll take it,” he winked and grinned one of his infamous cocky grins when he collected himself. Now it was your turn to blush, you were quick to look away from him and look at the shocked group in front of you. 

“You're actually with that freak?” he asked in disgust, you were about to give him a piece of your mind for calling Macaque a freak, but the six eared Macaque rested a hand on your shoulder.

“Yes she is,” he said with confidence that made you blush. The aura that surrounded him darkened, his gaze turned sinister and made the guy stumble back, tripping over himself. “So beat it and leave her alone before I make you regret it.” he glared at Shin before he stiffly smiled. “Are we clear?”

“Yeah, we’re clear” he nodded vigorously, lips quivering.

“Beat it,” he ordered, “before I show you what I can really do.”

You all watched the terrified demon bolt out of the noodle shop, tripping over himself to get away. You've never seen someone run as fast as Shin did.

That was kinda hot… you thought to yourself as you looked up at Macaque from the corner of your eye.

I'm never going to be able to live this down… he thought to himself when he got a glimpse of Wukong’s mischievous, shit eating grin, but then focused on Sofia and her boyfriend.

“You're that puppet guy, aren't you,” Sofia asked knowingly. 

She's a sharp one. He thought to himself as he folded his arms.

“Yeah,” Macaque nodded.

“And the date you went on…?” she trailed off as she looked at you.

“Yep…” you said awkwardly. “With him.”

“You had a boyfriend… AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME?!” she snapped, making you flinch even though you thought you were prepared for it.

“We’re not really… dating yet…” you rubbed your fingers together sheepishly.

“Yet, huh?” Macaque smirked at you, making you glanced at him once more, but quickly looked away.

“Well…” you blushed and refused to look at him. “I didn't go out with you for nothing…”

“Well then,” he looked down at you with a grin, “wanna go see that new movie that started showing?” 

“Yeah,” you managed a smile when you finally looked at him. “I'd like that…”

“Finally!” Sofia’s loud voice made you jump a bit as she grinned that grin you didn't trust. “I finally have someone to embarrass (Y/n)!”

“Oh gods no…” you mumbled, blushing as Macaque simply grinned and enjoyed it fully.

Reincarnated Shadows (LMK Au)

This au is pretty much. What if Mk was Macaque reincarnation. He is still born from the stone. Just now he has a fragment of Mac's soul. Mk still has his show abilities, but now Macaque's moveset as well. Unlike the show, Mk always had his shadows unlike how he slowly gains them after pulling the staff.

Of course, he doesn't have it all down, but still, he knows at the beginning that he is not fully human. Just doesn't know he's a monkey. Mk has sensitive hearing and at most times has his headphones near him.

His monkey form is like an eclipse. Six ears have different colors. Each pair has significant hearing as Macaque does. The top hears future, the middle hears present, and the bottom hears the past. Mk throughout season 1 and maybe two struggles with this. Only hearing certain foreboding information that keeps him on guard. He likes hearing past interactions with his family to relax sometimes.

The sunset staff. Mk can merge the shadow staff and Monkey King staff into one. When DBK took the staff Mk was able to summon up the shadow staff for the first time. His thoughts made the shadows form it. Now that he has two he has decided to merge them when in battle.

The smoke monster has an upgrade mixing with Mk Warform from the season 4 special. I just made a fusion of the two forms. Mk achieves this form during the events of episode 9. That makes you wonder. What would the presence of the episode Macaque even be if Mk is well Ma?.

Now well LBD still needs an champion.

Look here Macaque! What do you mean something wrong with him? Well, what do you expect if your soul is fragmented and piece of it now stuck to some dumb kid?

Macaque or Husk as my pal and I called it when creating this au is under the control of LBD. Husk's body was pulled from the grave and isn't quite complete so he is more than some mindless thrall at the moment. The only thing the former shadow master wants is to be whole again.

Episode 9 is Mk leaving to train on his own and running into a deadly foe. He summons the sunset monster to escape from the husk before Wukong can join the fight.

This au was actually made when writing "My Shadow Follows me" Just a sudden idea my Rp/Writing partner @burning-clutch thought of when we were roleplaying that story. Finally got time to draw it even if it been months since the idea was thought about.

SUKI IN LMK!?

Tehe, so I wanted to do a piece of Suki like those first parts in the LMK opening with the Monkey gang. A lil bit of Suki lore, but she is a reincarnation of a monkey maiden that Macaque and Wukong knew on the mountain, she died while Wukong was gone, dying in Mac’s arms actually. So that’s her past self. Who Im too lazy to name. Really proud of how this came out actually, it was an idea I wasn’t sure I would be able to execute how I wanted.

In the Shadowpeach route of my "Reincarnated LBD" au idea; basically Macaque ends up "holding on to" the wild unreincarnated soul of LBD while the gang tries to figure out what to do within the 49 days timeframe (called "bardo" in buddism) before the soul forcibly zooms buddha knows where onto the next life.

Except there's some little bumps in the road as Mac and Wukong are starting to reconcile...

Namely a pair of shadow spirits that see all this talk of New Souls and want to be born too! With some added magic aborbed from both Macaque and Wukong, the former-clones figure it out!

Macaque: *wakes up one morning*

Rumble & Savage: *are fresh baby monkeys sleeping against his stomach*

Macaque: "Eh???"

Macaque shows up on FFM demanding child support + cuddles. Wukong is shocked but adoring of their surprise twins.

By the end of 49 days, in combination of caring for a pair of super adorable baby monkeys + the rekindling of a romance thought lost, Macaque and Wukong decide; "Hey, we'll just keep the new soul. One more baby is no big deal."

Cue them creating Yuebei Xing in the LMK canonverse.

The immortal-killing daughter of Sun Wukong.

ok so. bad end monkey king. scary dude. you thought he was morally gray before, hoo boy

like what if he never went on the journey at all, never wanted or tried to become more than a monster? what if on the og journey, he was one of the demons that wanted to eat the monk? or in lmk, he's one of the big bads? (and maybe his role in the journey and lmk is filled by macaque instead-)

in the case of Isekai'd, he trails the gang, messing with them for fun and trying to find a way to easily get at the monk. he just needs to beat macaque, the other three demons won't be a problem. but from what wukong's seen, his fellow monkey demon is rather protective of the reader and the monk, never leaving their sides for long and constantly listening.

so, he makes moves to get closer to the reader, likely dressing more plainly and hiding his distinctive facial markings so she won't recognize him. at first it's a pretty standard "get you to like me so you won't put up as much of a fight later on" type of deal, but wukong comes to enjoy reader's wit and willingness to stand up to him. she's also just genuinely kind to him, something he doesn't get a lot of, being a universally-feared demon. so, his plans...

...change a little bit.

wukong knows he's the stronger demon, but he wants a clean shot. he sheds his disguise, macaque and the disciples fight him, and though they fight their hardest, the gang loses...

...and wukong throws a terrified, crying reader over his shoulder, dragging the bodies of her companions and protector behind him as he flies back to his mountain.

"Game over, Peaches.♡"

in lmk, macaque's trying to keep reader safe and away from villain wukong.

current reader is the reincarnation of the reader from the journey and sun wukong has been waiting for her return so he can make her properly immortal this time. at first she's friends with the noodle gang, maybe she even works with them. MK's her lil buddy, practically her younger brother, and one day his mentor, macaque (who up until this point has been a casually flirtatious presence in her life), busts into her apartment at night telling her she has to leave with him. somebody incredibly dangerous is coming for her now that he knows she exists, and mac's her best bet at escaping him.

from then on, she's constantly in hiding. although, somehow, wukong always manages to find her, no matter how well she's hidden and how many protective seals macaque casts on her. eventually it all comes to a head.

"Leave us be, Monkey King!" Macaque snarled.

"Gladly. After you return my Queen."

"I am not your queen!" Reader exasperated. "I never was! Why can't you just let this go?!"

"Because you were always gonna be mine, sweet peach. I missed my chance a thousand years ago. I'm not going to lose you again."

"Although," The Monkey King laughed lowly. He raised his staff to point at the other monkey demon.

"You've caused me quite a bit of trouble. I was just going to take her and let you off with a warning, but you've been a thorn in my side for a loooong time, Six Ears. I think it's about time I put you down permanently."

(maybe there's a bit where reader is refusing the immortality elixir or peach and wukong puts it into his mouth, and then forces it into reader's mouth with a kiss 👀 now she's stuck with him)

My only big complaint: Porty MK did not show up.

That was so good! Not sure it topped season 3 (my favorite season) but it was really good!! The Sandy episode is still my favorite just because I love the big blue guy, but it was all really enjoyable! I understand some peoples complaint about the animation, but we went from a S rank studio, there wasn’t any way it was gonna stay that good with a switch. And they kept with a lot of the style really well. (The rigging was a little rough sometimes but I’m sure with time it’ll get better, if not then I’ll be disappointed). Anyway, let MK rest, get him some therapy, tell Mac to communicate because I feel like that’ll be an issue next season, and get all three Monkey’s to stop self sacrificing please.

Like macaque should probably move on, I’m not saying that he will (or is ooc for him to don’t) but …is a bit unhealthy that he hasn’t ? Idk, I’m not saying Wukong is evil or a bad person, I think he loves and cares deeply for his friends but, what happened is too much

Their relationship is SO messy, I’m kinda afraid we won’t be given a proper solution to it

(Sorry my fave ship ended badly and I’m a bit negative today)

so, my personal opinion: i do not think we will ever get the full closure between shadowpeach that we want.

and that’s okay

their issues span centuries and more than a millennium to truly be covered in 10 minute episodes no matter the season. they also are not the main characters (Macky isn’t really even a part of the main cast either compared to the jttw reincarnation/descendants) which makes their screen time a lot shorter

and any development we see will also be met with bts development LMK will probably use to help fit with the pacing of their show (think of how they developed the DBK family on the sidelines)

also, personally, i don’t think Mac should move on. to me, there’s a key difference between finding growth and self worth and moving on for Macky. if he were to move on then we would see his character less and less. he’s probably have the same number of screen time as DBK or Red Son. coming in to give MK some sage advice while also being his regular dickish self. but that doesn’t really fit Macky’s criteria rn especially since we are getting more and more hints of the swk vs Macky fight

i think we will get closure for the fight, but to the extent some people want? i doubt it, but that could be just because my favorite headcanon for shadowpeach is that their reconciliation takes over a century because their relationship is messy and they need the time to work it through (and i highly doubt Macky is leaving even while his words may imply it)

maybe they will hold hands or softly look at each other but i do not see anything further than that. in terms of lmk’s list of priorities

This is a sequel to my post in 2021 'Things that I have to keep reminding myself are not true (or at the very least not confirmed) in 'Lego Monkie Kid' because Fandom and Fanfics have warped my perception of reality' back when we only had seasons 1-2! I made a funny list of lmk fanon tropes I found in fanfics so much that they kinda made me forget what was real and what was fanon. But after season 4 and the special, I decided to go back over things because a LOT has changed. So, without further ado, lets get into all the juicy details (with pictures!) hehehe~

MK has never told Sun Wukong that Macaque appeared while he was gone

I listed this one specifically because some fics decide to either have MK confess to Wukong that Mac's been in contact with him after his debut episode, or MK might keep it a secret. But in the grand scheme since his debut, its kinda irrelevant now. Man is everywhere.

The Gold Fillet has not been mentioned

This is also no longer true! I mean we see it a lot but there's not a conversation about it specifically. I think that counts... (We're gonna get to the juicy ones I promise)

MK's real name has not been mentioned in the Dub

Still true! (I should clarify; I mean they havent told us what it is. Only that MK is a nickname because his real name is too long.)

MK does not have any confirmed biological family details

Whew, okay so this one is harder. We know that MK was adopted by Pigsy after being born from a stone on FFM just like Sun Wukong. So while its not exactly like Wukong laid him as a stone egg (I mean...he might've idk) its safe to say he is more related to Wukong biologically than anyone else. Right?....I think.

MK does not have an older sister

Still true, for reasons above! (Him having an older sister happened in fanfics a lot more than you'd think)

Reincarnation has not been confirmed or denied

Comfirmed now! It was HEAVILY implied in season 3 toward the end anyway heh.

Red Son and MK are not dating

Pigsy and Tang are not dating

Im HAPPY to say that this one is actually sort of implied to be canon? I could list a bunch of knowing looks and one off remarks but I'd be here all day gushing so I'll just go with the most obvious piece of evidence. Season 4's Pig-Napped! Has a moment where Tang is trying to get through to Pigsy, who is trapped in his ancestor's body. He mentions that he has "dedicated his life to this man (Pigsy)" and idk how else to read that if ya know what I mean. (Also this cuddle moment when he got Pigsy back. Tee-hee)

Sun Wukong and Macaque have not had any kind of relation or relationship confirmed beyond "Beloved Friends"

This one is ALSO having some VIBES but not anything confirming enough for me to outright say its canon. Though there's...there's somethin' goin on. Shadow Play set the table but seasons 3-4 gave us a FUCKING ANGST MEAL.

and the special we learn a lot more about Macaque and Wukong's relationship. They were canonically a lot closer and more affectionate than I had originally expected and the implication of being "sworn brothers" the two sharing a home at FFM, and peach metaphors/nicknames I could write a whole book about. I can't really say it has anything as concrete as Tang saying his life is for Pigsy, but I can say the implications are MIGHTY, and their wounds are DEEP. (Shadowpeach flows in my veins so deeply, season 5 please give me what I need its Sonadow but Monkey men please gods, all of the gods, just give me--)

Mei, Red Son, and MK have never had a party or a sleepover

Weirdly enough, this totally happened??? Like not gonna lie out of all of these things on this list, this one was the one I didn't expect to come through. But they did sleep over at Red's place, and had a beach party at the end of s4.

Lady Bone Demon has not been directly referred to as White Bone Spirit in the Dub

This is true, likely because they just went with a different name entirely for the English dub.

MK has not called Pigsy Dadsy (Update: a few people have confirmed this has happened) and Mk has not called Sun Wukong Dad

Im including these two together (even though the Dadsy one was already confirmed in s1) for a few reasons because I feel like I need to talk about why.

MK not only has called Pigsy Dadsy, he says flat out in season 4 that Pigsy is his dad, due to adopting him. This is in reply to Mei saying that Wukong is his dad, due to the whole stone monkey thing. While its implied he and Wukong are cut from the same cloth somehow, both being mystic stone monkeys, MK only sees Pigsy as his true father.

Macaque has not been redeemed yet

This one is a lot more nuanced. While Mac is no longer their enemy and is a reluctant ally, I wouldn't call him redeemed necessary. This is mostly because around the end of season3 and all of season 4 we begin to delve into the complexity of Wukong/Macaque. It's shown that both parties did damage and hurt each other in the past. It feels a bit black and white to try and put all the blame on Macaque and say he needs to be 'redeemed' now that we know more about the two monkeys. But for the sake of argument, I will say that as of season 4, Macaque can be considered one of the good guys even if they're not his 'friends.'

His relationship with Wukong is just beginning to mend and that's a whole different can of worms, but as past antagonists go, I'd say he's got a seal of approval when it comes to being a reliable ally.

Aaaaannnddddd that's all the ones I had! This was really fun to comb through all of the fanfic themes and see how much they've snuck their way into canon (or were flat out proven to be the deal from the start) since season 2! Hopefully once season 5 rolls around I can address some of these unconfirmed fanfic themes again, and maybe even have new ones! (Right now the only one I can think of is Azure having romantic feelings for Wukong but since he's kinda gone idk if that would ever come up)

it's a macaque and my au macaque!

the ay mac is from my au (currently called glacial mountain au) where LBD laid siege to flower fruit mountain while wukong was trapped under the mountain, rather than heaven burning the forest. mac died during the siege, but not after placing a seal to prevent lbd taking over it. she was banished for a few hundred years and once she regained her powers she was sealed by tripitaka, as in lmk canon.

wukong, however, was cursed during that battle and was slowly freezing into an ice statue. He used his cloud to take his staff back to the mountain, and remained entirely unaware of what happened to ffm.

centuries later, when DBK tries to take over the city upon returning--he'd been sealed in a different manner than canon, but was still sealed away regardless--mk and crew try to find ffm to find the monkey king. instead they find a mountain frozen over and the staff protected under a strong barrier. mk is the only one able to get in and frees the staff.

he's quickly confronted by a white furred monkey, who turns out to be the reincarnated macaque. he had been reincarnated with his previous life's memories intact and tasked with training mk by gyuanyin.

So there's three different egg aus

Regular egg- regular stone egg stuff

Slow boiled stone egg- pregnant for centuries until s3

Kindred egg?- that little bit about the gang finding Wukong themselves and meet egg eventually

"#stone egg talk" - is for any general talk or au regarding the theory of Stone Eggs being a way for Stone Monkeys to reproduce asexually, though it has the potiential to kill the parent.

"#jttw stone egged au" - au for Wukong having grown a Stone Egg due to being under the mountain. In this Au Macaque learns about the egg early on and joins the gang. Stone Egg gets born at Thunderclap Monastery - baby is undecided. Possible alternate MK or Luzhen?

"#slow boiled stone egg au" - starts out the same as "#jttw stone egged au" with the major divergence in that Macaque is killed/dies before finding out that the Stone Egg exists, putting Wukong in a mental health state that causes the Stone Egg to refuse to be born until he gets his crap together. Rolls over into the LMK canon. Stone Egg born shortly after S3 special - becomes a version of Yuebei Xing.

"SWK is MK's stone egg dad au" renamed to "#century stone egg au" - SWK manages to dodge getting stone egg-pregged back in the Journey days, but after losing Macaque and a bunch of other stuff decides to deliberately trigger the process 500 years before the events of LMK canon. He's found by the reincarnation gang (+Mei's parents) a *bit* too early (20 something years), meaning that he's got to do the last leg of the process "awake/aboveground" after having isolated and literally buried himself for five centuries. Stone Egg in this case becomes MK.

And ofc in the "#The Monkey King and the Infant" au - it crops up as the method in which either the Lunar Node Twins (Jidu and Luohou) or Luzhen is created; via Wukong being trapped in a modified Trigram Furnace that started the process.

+Bonus: In aus where Mac dies/is dragged to Diyu like in canon, his body accidentally creates two Stone Eggs containing the Eclipse Twins (Rumble and Savage). He doesn't notice until somebody points it out to him.
