Have we talked yet about how some fans were claiming that Eddie reading the swimsuit magazine in 8x05 was absolute categorical proof he was 100% straight... He was clearly enjoying looking at all those sexy swimsuit models! Then, in 8x06, the narrative explicitly told us 'Actually, right now Eddie is subconsciously avoiding anything that brings him joy.' Y'know, directly after Eddie was in a room with a half-naked Buck, and immediately decided he had to look at pictures of women instead.

the thing about eliot spencer as a character, right. the thing about him.

(and as always your mileage may vary on my analyses so if we disagree that's cool actually)

is that he is in fact a somewhat emotionally constipated idiot who is occasionally sensitive about his perceived masculinity and gets defensive about emotional intimacy around other men (largely hardison, who's much more comfortable expressing affection and embracing a softer kind of masculinity), but eliot displays enough emotional awareness and sensitivity and respect for women etc etc that anyone who's been subjected to that era of television will put on rose-tinted glasses without even looking twice.

(and he is, don't get me wrong, incredibly emotionally aware for a professionally punchy guy with enough trauma to sink the titanic. it still startles me to see.)

on top of which we have the layers and the accessories and the excellent hair with the secret braids and the way he barely has an ego and he's good with kids and protective of his team without taking it too far, and some of us never stood a fucking chance.

And the joke is plain stupid. it shows that once again, gwynriels either have selective reading comprehension or aren’t mature/old enough to comprehend these books.

Rhys would never laugh or be happy that Azriel and Elain can’t have children. Especially, as he was in that same position. Not suprised this joke came from the same people that twist Rhysand’s character around. Azriel would never tell Elain that she can’t be with him due to not having children. This same man literally fell in love with her knowing they wouldn’t be able to have children. Yet he still wanted her.

And the most ignorant thing of all: We already have the solution to this problem. Nesta has the knowledge to change anatomy. The cauldron isn’t going anywhere. Its a moot, ridiculous point.

The joke is only funny if you’re ignorant & naive. “Its not that deep. These are fictional characters 🤓” - be grateful at the privilege you have for this to be unrelatable and just a superficial joke to you.

"I don't sound like that," he snapped, ignoring her badly-suppressed snort. "Robert won by right of conquest more than birth, and three dragons gives Daenerys Stormborn a better claim than any bloodline. But the more I think on it..." He sighed. "I suspect that there is no such thing as king — or queen — by right. It's simply a pretty phrase for those in power to pursue what they want, at the expense of their duty to their people." "And I meant it," he said, stepping back a judicious pace. "You've rebuilt the Keep and brought order back to the North, made it safe for your people. Now you're preparing them for the Great War, and I'd ask for no one better. You're doing your duty. But it was a duty you sought, and a duty that rightly belongs to someone else."

"It's a duty I'm suited to," she countered. "Just as you were suited better to be Lord of Dragonstone and Master of Ships than to be Lord Paramount of the Stormlands."

You'd have to offer comfort to the sickly who come to you for the healing touch of their lord, attend feast days and wave and smile at the crowds, accept the flower crowns the children weave for you at the tourneys.
