How I missed Jaskier the drama queen

Ok if nobody else is gonna say it's, I'll say it...

SIREN'S OF THE DEEP SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT

Essie was a massive let down. Her VA's fake English accent ruined it for me. There was little to no real emotion in her voice and her tone fell flat. A huge disappointment for someone who has been looking forward to her character, on screen, for ages now.

Geralt was impressive. His dialogue, his heart, the way he spoke to Jaskier and others around him. Something Henry Cavill could never give us. "Hmm....Fuck." was the extent of his emotional depth.

Jaskier, as always, was an absolute delight. Joey's inflection, heart, depth of character and love for the story shines through in every scene. Also, sword fighting Jaskier is HOT. SINGING JASKIER IS ALWAYS MY FAVE.

I have more thoughts but I'm tired. So perhaps I'll share them later. Please don't hate me too much. It's mostly Essie's VA I had the problem with (and a wee bit of her character design but lol)

Overall it was good. For me, not great, but I'll definitely watch it again. Also, please, let's collectively hope for a full version of A Little Sacrifice on the soundtrack for Season 4!!

I tried a style study of the sirens of the deep art style. It's hard to replicate, the proportions on the faces are really specific, and honestly, I just keep drawing the eyes far too big.

I started out as not a huge fan of the style, and tbh there were a lot of moments that looked like the art was drawn with a foot, but I kinda have a new appreciation for it now.

Also the Jaskiers eyes were drawn rlly pretty hehe

There’s that post that’s like ‘everyone should get into a tiny niche fandom at least once’ fully agree, that was really fun -- but I would like to add that everyone should get into a fandom where their opinions run counter to major fanon because it really teaches you about sticking to your guns and trusting your interpretation of the text without having to rely on peer validation

i love when characters get angry when they're frightened. shelter dog characters. i love when they bite, not able to tell the difference between a hand that feeds and a hand that strikes. there is no difference. a hand is a hand is a fist. i love characters that are deemed unadoptable. unlovable.

and i love when someone loves them. i love when someone sits with them, patient. they don't flinch at the snarling and snapping. they're not trying to fix it—there's nothing to be fixed. this is you, all of you, and ill wait. because one day, one day you'll take the treat. go on, draw my blood. spit and curse and rage. you're safe with me. one day, you'll feel safe with me.
