Are you a book nerd who also wants to support Palestinian families? Check out these literature zines.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These zines are being distributed by trashling (Instagram and TikTok). You can order both digital and physical copies, and there is an option to donate extra money with each order.
Browse/Order Here
Where do the donations go? Taken directly from the website: “Donations will be divided between SafeBow, an org working on evacuating people from Rafah, and the PCRF, which is working on general humanitarian efforts.”
Note, I’m not involved with the zines at all. I’m just spreading the word to my substantial platform here. These zines have definitely appealed to me as a reader / dark academia enthusiast. Please read more about the cause, speak up, and love each other.

A poetry zine for Zinetober. This poem helps me feel more free. And making zines helps me feel free to just create, make mistakes, make more creations, learn, make more mistakes and learn from those. May you feel so free.

FINALLY did a teeny tiny little shop update with some new stuff I've accumulated, namely Fool Butt Stickers and a few mini zines. Check it out!!! Also please don't hesitate to get in touch if the zine bundle ordering system is too esoteric and you have questions. I have, like, a million mini-zines and am doing my best to offer price breaks for people who want more than a few, but it can make things confusing.

Something about the way bibliopunk/punk academia is treated on here Bugs Me and I think it can be best summed up as this:
You can't just throw the "punk" descriptor onto whatever you like and call it an aesthetic
Punk is not an aesthetic
Punk is a mindset, it's a philosophy-- it's a rebellion against societal systems
When I say bibliopunk, I don't mean sweater vests and old library photos and quotes from classics.
Bibliopunk, to me, a punk librarian, is about freedom of information. It's about making sure everyone and anyone can have the resources they need to learn, whatever that means for them. It's no late fees and fighting against censorship. It's defunding the police and funding community resource centers that specialize in making sure there's a place where people can go to ask for help, to read books on any subject they can think of, to connect with events and organizations that exist to help THEM. It's about making zines and learning how to bookbind, because fuck the idea that traditional publishing and Amazon are the only people that can make something a book.
Punk academia, which is used colloquially here, is related to this-- it's saying fuck the academic systems that keep out the poor, the people of color, and the disabled. Fuck your Ivy Leagues, education is whatever the hell you make it. College should be free, classes should be accessible WITHOUT being forced to give up all of your personal financial and health information, curriculums need to include as many varying perspectives as they can because fuck the idea that a cishet abled white man is the authority on any given topic.
Bibliopunk, punk academia, and any other Tumblr "aesthetic" with the punk descriptor is not just a moodboard of photos you stole from Pinterest.
Because what's more punk than a public library?

In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines / Lived twelve little girls in two straight lines / They left the house, at half past nine / The smallest one was Madeline.
my piece for the @90scartoonszine, Lost in Nostalgia! I totally forgot about these stories, but they were definitely very near and dear to me when I was little and definitely made me obsessed with Paris and fun outfits lol

Hi there! We are Witch Hazel Publishing and we're a new queer publishing co-operative. Whether you write poetry or prose, we want to work with you! Our aim is to build a community of queer authors that helps each other hone their craft, and get more independent writers published.
Here's everything you need to know about our first project:
Theme: queer life and community. This can be interpreted in so many ways, so feel free to get creative!
Format: whatever form of writing you like! Since this is a mixed anthology, we accept poetry, prose, essays or anything in between. Ensure the font is a legible style and size.
Word limit: 5000
Deadline: 23:59, 30th November 2024
How to submit: please email us at [email protected] with your writing attached as a doc/docx/pdf.
Once you have submitted a piece for the anthology, you will have the option to join our co-operative. This means you will have a say in future projects and the running of the co-op. We want to hear your voice, especially if you are interested in working in the publishing industry. This anthology will be released as a digital-only zine, but we plan for our next book to have a physical release.

It's Feral Friday!
If Special Collections were compared to a National Park- a thoughtfully curated, accessible experience of the wilderness of the natural world- where would its edges lie? What would be considered off the beaten path, how would its boundaries be defined, and in what ways would the landscape beyond those boundaries inspire our imagination and broaden our conceptions of the world and our communicative capacities?
That’s the realm of pluralistic inquiry explored by Feral Fridays, a new weekly post where we’ll feature items from our collection like zines, experimental book arts, independently produced poetry and other unruly materials that exist at the margins of publishing and literary traditions.
Let’s get Feral!
