Was there any classes you had to take to be a storyboard artist? I’m thinking of going into a field like that!

I took an online course (Not telling which one because their whole thing significantly dropped in quality over time)

and that was pretty much it. But to be fair - I had decent amount of experience of drawing comics beforehand. It helped significantly because I was already familiar with the concept of visual storytelling through composition and expressions.

I was like. CRAZY passionate about learning to storyboard so I was doing all the homework and watching aaall the lessons and then they were giving optional homework for people who wanted to really lock in and optional-optional little things that no one even expected us to draw. But I was making ALL of them. All the time.

So when the course ended my teacher was like goddamn you got a lot of energy in you huh? And he contacted one producer he knew and basically went "hey I have one student who has zero experience but will work and learn really hard"

And that producer went "Okay I trust you" and hired me without interview haha

#never regretted becoming a storyboard artist #it's the perfect job for my adhd brain #you draw fast. you draw a lot. the things you draw constantly changing #the mood is also constantly different. today I draw comedy. tomorrow I draw someone losing their parents. fun stuff #and another fun part #you literally can convert all the shows you're watching into experience #I never forget how after half a year of working at that studio my boss went #yeah you need to ease a little bit with your expressions and make them more fun #Here's a document. It has a “ go watch Teenage mutant ninja turtles” in it. and a link #ahahah #oh also one of my producers kept sending me Naruto references to throw in the animatics #great job #fair warning - you will be expected to draw A LOT. And not just draw but also like. being creative constantly #if you like just being told what to draw and not thinking about it maybe you need to consider being an animator or layout/background artist

#honkai star rail #dan heng #genuinely have a million things i wanna draw and then zero energy #so dan heng in a hoodie #now i gotta go get dinner sooooo maybe that will give energy and then i can draw more of what i actually wanna draw #but i kinda spent like ... hours ? talking to my mom earlier today #since shes been in the hospital for many many days #so i was catching her up on whats been goin on and showed her silly lil videos #and telling her how hyped i was for summer hrid and she (very patient with my fe talk)#was like you always tell me about banners being bad so it must have made you REALLY happy to say the whole banner is good #and im like yeah and i had multiple people on multiple sites like hey salmon/moeblob did ya see the banner #and she was like thats so cool that people acknowledge who you like and im like yeah it is p cool #and then i told her how mad i was at the absolutely criminal act of limiting how you can watch clue (1985 hit movie)#like i told her yeah sure i own it twice on dvd and once on itunes and that the only way to watch those #are either desktop or ps2 and how i dont have access to my itunes email #and i dont have it on my laptop so i sadly would have to rebuy the movie on itunes under a new acct #then i said how i loved that it was free to watch with ads on yt and id watched it twice that way #but then recently wanted to watch it on there but laptop and hoo boy you have to buy or rent it now #so i v angrily was like fine whatever ill do the thing and leave my room and go watch it on my moms tv #while she isnt around and use her amazon prime where it should be included except ! IT WASNT!#YOU HAVE TO HAVE PRIME TO BUY OR RENT IT NOW TOO!#HOW ARE THEY DOING THIS AND WHY ! who in the world is watching this movie so much that isnt me that they have to charge for it now #on all platforms unless you straight up pirate it #and hey why would i of all people be needing to pirate a movie i own physically two times and digitally once #this is literally a personalized attack to me #and my mom was like i understand how you feel cause yeah thats really weird to do to a 1985 movie #and im like yes exactly i have morals and principles that make me opposed to this and its v maddening #and she said she understood and its ok next time we are having power issues and i have to shut down #that if i really wanna watch it i can rent it on her amazon account and i looked at her and shes like oh you feel v strongly about this #and i do! passing is so crazy cause i literally do right up until i don't. old man at church pointing me nd my dear beloved friend toward the men's bathroom. parents at work who have never met me calling me 'he'. cashiers and waiters calling me sir sometimes. friend told me today that she posted a picture from when i went to her formal with her and got like six different messages asking her when she got a boyfriend. and when i went to that formal with a bunch of sorority girls and frat boys i literally passed there too!! and it is all so awesome right up until the moment i'm trying to pass and then the she/her comes out of nowhere like a slap in the face lmao. schrodinger's transsexual i am constantly in a state of passing and not passing all at the same time...

heyyy a fellow math teacher! 🤝

I'm actually not a math teacher! I do special ed. I currently do most of the math inclusion support at the school, so between my actual classes and support from learning center/skill development hours and study hall hours, I'm doing everything from sub-separate Intro to Algebra all the way up to Pre-Calculus.

So my students know me as "the math lady" and they joke whenever they see me out of the math hallway that I've breached containment or "escaped [my] dungeon!" It's pretty funny!

I absolutely love working with the math department though! They are some of the best people in this entire school. Unsurprisingly, they're probably the department that the sped department is the closest with! They're so deeply passionate about public education and setting up the students for the best success possible after high school, and they really do their best to stand up against a lot of the silly top-down level grade inflation types of things happening within district admin right now! So yeah, can't hype these math ladies up enough! They go so above and beyond for the students, and it's unfortunate that they're some of the most underappreciated teachers cuz god damn these kids have nooooo clue how much this group of women care about them!
