Mythal, Solas, and Lavellan
So there’s lots of discussion about Mythal and Solas, and we need to talk about it.
I too, at first, was mad that Lavellan wasn’t enough for Solas.
And then I started thinking about it.
Not only was Mythal his mother, his creator, she coaxed him into being. Into changing his spirit and his purpose.
Regret Number 1.
He let her use his knowledge and wisdom to do a terrible thing, to kill (tranquil) the titans, changing a whole race of people at a molecular magical level.
Regret Number 2.
When that choice created the worst power known to Thedas (the blight) he was responsible again. And Mythal asked him to step up and fight against it, and he did. And a lot of people died.
Regret 3.
Mythal DIED. (IMO The gods blighted her because she stood against them for wanting to use the blight but that’s not important here). And Solas blames himself.
From Solas’ perspective, he is her puppy. Her Emerald Knight. Her General. Her Protector. Her Wisdom. Her servant, her SLAVE. He is BOUND TO HER. And he caused her downfall.
And you’re all like, GEAS! GEAS!
But wait.
From HIS perspective.
Rook says something somewhere along the lines of like, by abstainsing from being the good guy (oh wait maybe it was Varric in the fade…)
By choosing to be the villain instead of the hero is he absolving himself of the guilt (regret) that comes from having to have made those choices.
From Solas’ perspective, he is her slave.
LOOK AT HIS BODY LANGUAGE.
He is a worm in the dirt in front of her. He is a scolded child, a puppy with his tail between his legs.
But in the eyes of Mythal, he was always her friend. The one person who had always stood by her. She did not literally entrap him, or bind him. It was all in Solas’ own head.
He refused to take accountability for his actions, only able to survive through the crushing weight of his own guilt by blaming it on servitude to Mythal.
That’s why Rook escaped the prison. Because she faced her own choices, choices with terrible consequences, and accepted them. Took responsibility for them, and promised to do better.
Remember, after the Temple of Mythal…
Solas…
You gave yourself into the service of an ancient elvhen god!
What does that mean exactly?
You are Mythal’s creature now, everything you do whether you know it or not will be for her. *** You have given up a part of yourself.
***THIS WAS NEVER TRUE. IT WAS NOT TRUE FOR FLEMYTHAL & MORRIGAN, NOR WAS IT TRUE FOR ABELAS, NOR WAS IT TRUE FOR SOLAS. HE JUST WANTED TO BELIVE THAT IT WAS.
…I suppose it is better you have the power than Corypheus. Which leads to the next logical question… What will you do with the power of the Well once Corypheus is dead?
The war proved that we can’t go back to the way things were. I’ll try to help this world move forward. **Lavellan is talking about the mage/templar conflict, but Solas is putting her in his own shoes. Solas reached for power he could not control and fucked the whole world up.
You would risk everything you have with the hope that the future is better? What if it isn’t? What if you wake up to find that the future you shaped is worse than what was? **
**This is literally him asking her what she would do in his shoes. He woke up and the world was in chaos OF HIS MAKING. To prevent an evil HE CAUSED from spreading, he orchestrated the downfall of the people he loved and swore to protect.
I’ll take a breath, see where things went wrong, and then try again.
Just like that?
*He is in shock that she can be so cavalier about the guilt that has rocked him for (4?) millennia.
If we don’t keep trying, we’ll never get it right.
*And this is the only thing that calms him down.
You’re right. Thank You.
For what?
You have not been what I expected, Inquisitor, you have… impressed me.
You have offered hope that is one keeps trying, even if the consequences are grave… that someday, things will be better.
Then, of course, he takes this to mean that he needs to try to put The Evanuris in a different prison and take down the veil which isn’t at all what we meant sweetie but that’s okay get up and try again.
This is a classic case of a person in power not understanding the terrible, horrible consequences of unfettered power imbalances. Because Solas was always Friend to Mythal (Im not going into Freudian sex shit with you weirdos right now).
Solas was Mythals FRIEND.
Mythal was Solas’ EVERYTHING.
co·de·pend·en·cy
/ˌkōdəˈpend(ə)nsē/
noun
excessive emotional or psychological reliance on a partner,
His Mother, General, Creator, Protector, Queen, Goddess.
And he loved her so fiercely with every fiber of his new, physical being.
And he hated it.
And when Lavellan fell for him, and he for her, he was afraid.
Because he would never force a spirit against her purpose, and in his eyes the only way to love is the sick and twisted way he loved Mythal.
But again, from Mythal’s perspective, it wasn’t twisted. Solas was just Solas. And once again the powerful care not for the thoughts and opinions of those beneath them.
And that sin is on Mythal.
And that’s why she comes out and talks to Solas. Both aspects of her. To release him from the bonds that never existed. Be free, friend. You always were, but if you need me to say it I will because I love you.
“I pulled you from the fade and sent you into war. I used your wisdom as a weapon… and it broke you.”
Cole: Is there a way to save more spirits, Solas?
Solas: Not until the Veil is healed. The rifts draw spirits through, and the shock makes demons of them.
Cole: Pushing through makes you be yourself. You can hold onto the you. Being pulled through means you don't have enough you. You become what batters you, bruises your being.
Be free.
“The things that I have done…”
“Are not for you to bear alone, my friend. The many wrongs we did, we did together.”
And he COWERS before her. Shaking and shuddering. FNALLY being absolved of the guilt he’s carried since his inception.
“I release you from my service.”
And he SOBBS. At the RELIEF.
And Lavellan kneels before him (wrong, IMO because they should be equals but its fine)
And he can go back to his original purpose.
Not Pride.
Not Knowledge.
Not even Wisdom.
But Protection.
“My life force now sustains the veil. With every breath I take, I will protect the innocent from my past failures.”
The Shepherds Wolf. Protecting his flock from those who would do them harm.
And Lavellan promises it won’t be terrible, as long as they’re together.
And maybe Solas can try this different kind of love. A love built on respect, and trust, instead of fear, and obedience.
And he can be his purpose, Protection, and also be a man. And love his vhenan.
Because he is free.

Rhaenyra being a good person and ruler is not boring. Ned was boring?
was considering answering this with ‘lose the question mark’ but that felt mean i do like ned i think hes a good character. and the thing is ned is a boring guy on a personal level all characters agree but he isnt a boring character nice ≠ boring i dont need everyone to be evil. i dont dislike rhaenyra just bc shes soso nice and i only like villains
i dont know when ‘a character having strong motivations and flaws makes them more compelling than a character who is inoffensively nice’ became controversial i would consider it character writing 101. hotd fans leap down your throat about it bc of the teams discourse. ‘aegon was more interesting than rhaenyra in season 2’ isnt an aegon rules rhaenyra drools team green argument it is objectively true aegon is more motivated and he does more
it is not compelling character stuff and an insult to emma’s abilities that they wont let rhaenyra do anything or have any motivations apart from a) peace shes a pacifist and doesnt want to be in the war she is a de facto leader in except maybe she does want to be in the war? (dragonseeds) b) the stupid prophecy c) the throne but she refuses to have a war about it bc see point a). and she states these motivations every episode but theyre actively contradictory so as a result she just doesnt do anything shes almost entirely reactive. if she really cares so much about not having a war and harming her people there are many actions she could take to change that and make a peace but she wont do that bc she wants her father’s throne (far more sentimental and niceys than anything as selfish and crass as her ugh just wanting the throne) and believes she has to be queen and is the chosen one bc of the prophecy. but she doesnt want a war bc women are wise and war is bad so so so she got main character screentime and did almost nothing in eight episodes. end of season 2 even though the war has been literally happening around her people are still talking about when rhaenyra is going to recognise this and start acting like it. a goalpost that has been moved from lukes death to jaces death bc lukes death affected her and her policy veryy little considering how confident everyone was that this means WAR get ready for a NEW DARK RHAENYRA a mothers RAGE. and that just didnt happen at all
baela and to a lesser extent rhaenys also get hit w this really hard theyre a blandly inoffensive Strong Female Character slurry being smeared on my face like im a baby and id get scared if they had any selfish desires. and this does work at pleasing people who are already tb fanatics yayy girlboss imagine liking the creeps on tg over these characters who are women who are nice but it makes for dull characters and plotlines it insults the ability of the audience to like women unless theyre completely sandblasted of anything potentially controversial. i have no idea what motivates baela to fight for rhaenyras cause other than ‘shes jaces nice girlfriend’. and thats really bad !! ned cat brienne sansa dany etc wanted and did things characters can be nice and morally good and motivated and compelling

ok quick rant post.
*HUGE TOA SPOILERS BELOW*
i just saw somebody say jason’s death was poorly written.
i mean this in the most respect way to those people saying that jason’s death was meaningless and careless…did we read the same book?
first of all, it was not anticlimactic. It would’ve been unexpected for me if i wasn’t spoiled. he quite literally went out with a bang. he made a gigantic tornado/storm to pretty much single-handedly fight an emperor. i mean, no one around him was equipped or ready to fight. he was doing so good, but he knew he had to die anyway. he might’ve tried harder if he hadn’t heard the prophecy about him or piper dying. my point is, he did not seem “nerfed” or “not powerful”, apollo was really impressed by his skills in his narration.
i saw somebody say they didn’t it like it because he had so much potential. that’s the whole point though!!! many tragic deaths are brought to life by an unkept promise or something they couldn’t carry out before they died. all of jason’s storylines were going to lead him somewhere great, but of course it couldn’t go like that. rick riordan pretty much put in that whole part with apollo and jason talking about his promise to the minor gods to dangle that in front of us. to emphasize how tragic his death was.
people say his death was only for apollo/lester’s character development? i don’t agree. i mean, yeah, that was a huge thing that came from it. throughout the rest of the books, he tributes his growth and actions to jason. but i don’t think that was the only reason for it. i saw a great post by @a-cup-of-coffee-and-the-moon about this. go check it out here, but basically they say that was it inevitable (they go to say it was because he went against zeus, and the greek leaders had a history of their sons overthrowing them). even other than that, it developed the storyline and the whole trials of apollo series in general.
ok so maybe that wasn’t quick. but still. i hope i proved my point. i am a huge jason defender and i just hate when people comment on his death like this. he’s dead, guys!!! that’s just like pooping on his grave! ok, but seriously, we need to end the jason death slander. i feel like some people see something they don’t like and come up with reasons as to why it shouldn’t have happened and why it was weird that it did. i mean, yeah, i didn't want him to die, but i’m willing to accept it and respect him.

Theory about Chosen and Second's relationship
Many people portrayed a loving sibling relationship between Chosen and Second after AVA season 2. While I absolutely adore this kind of dynamic between them, a nagging voice keep telling me that this was unlikely to happen.
I need to state the fact that Second killed Dark before Chosen's very eyes. Yes Second's action is completely justified because Dark brutally eliminated their friends, yes Dark is a menace to the internet and the entire stick society, yes Dark was going to attack (and possibly kill) Chosen if not for the Colour Gang's intervention, yes even Chosen himself stood against Dark and gave his all when fighting Dark, but that still doesn't change the fact that Second just obliterated Chosen's best and probably only friend since he was created.
Psychology says that our brain would deliberately forget unpleasant memories and only keep those fond ones to protect us from too much negativities. That's why we often think that our lives are better in the past, even if our situation had only improved over time. This is because we don't recall the bad things happened to us as painful as they really were.
If stick figures' mind work the same way as ours, when Chosen revisited his memories of The Dark Lord, he would more likely remember Dark as the stick who showed his inventions to him with child like enthusiasm,
who had terrible handwriting,
who fought with him side by side for many years,
who, though being literally programmed to destroy him, didn't hesitate to take his offering hand and fight back against their creator.
Not the ruthless psychopath who wanted to dominate the internet.
So yes, Second saved the internet and Chosen's life, and we know that Chosen held a deep gratitude towards Second for that. But every time he looked into the kid's eyes, would he not see his best friend's murderer? Would he not have flashbacks of his best friend being blasted way to death by the laser beams from these very pair of pupils?
Of course he wouldn't blame the kid for it, so the only person he would blame is himself. If only he discovered Dark's plan sooner, if only he talked with Dark instead of using brute force to stop him, if only he was strong enough to defeat Dark by himself...
The guilt must have been like a dull, hot knife slicing through his soul. If he warm up to Second, would it not be a betrayal to his best friend? So although he liked the kid, he couldn't allow himself to form a bond with them.
I could imagine Second being so excited to have an older sibling and was ready to welcome Chosen into the gang, but Chosen kept avoiding them like a plague, leaving them confused and disappointed. After several attempts they finally gave up and admitted that maybe Chosen didn't want a sibling like they do.
This situation continued until AVA Ep.9 "Wanted", where a desperate Chosen broke into Alan's PC asking Second for help for the first time since Showdown. That's why Second and the rest of the gang looked so unprepared for this whole situation, because they were already used to Chosen's avoidance.
Hopefully in AVA season 3 we could see more of Second and Chosen's interactions, Chosen could finally overcome his guilt and grief, forming a strong bond with Second and getting some healing as well.

I'm rewatching Exu: Calamity and I think they made a mistake with the name. The real title should be Exu: Actually, Vasselheim has good reasons for how it operates, even if they're dicks about it sometimes. Maybe it was too long, so they went with the snappier CALAMITY! Instead lol.
The end of the Calamity was only 840 something years ago. With Elves and dragons running around, some of them are definitely old enough where, if they didn't live during the Age of Arcanum themselves, their parents or grandparents would have and they would have been told a thousand stories of the fuck heads in flying cities who destroyed the world and were super annoying and dangerous long before they did that. Many more would be born during the latter part of the Calamity or raised by people who survived the Calamity who passes on those stories. Depending on the race we are talking anywhere from direct witnesses (Like the Bright Queen and Ludinus) to like 2-5 generations removed. Even humans with our short lifespans, it's really not THAT long, especially if you've got a bunch of old ass elves around teaching history class from a first person pov for like 500 years lol.
Intellectually people know that Critical Role, the world of Exandria is a post apocalypse story. Exandria is a scarred landscape that is just beginning to bounce back from the brink. But because it is recovering, it's easy to forget sometimes that it IS POST APOCALYPTIC. So people looking at Vasselheim in the modern day are like, 'bro, you really need to chill, everything's fine.' And Vasselheim is like... 'Chill? I do not understand the meaning of this word. And everything is fine... for now. We will be a bastion of civilization when the end times come once more. Fare thee well traveler.'
Then everyone rolls their eyes and moves on with their day. But if you really think about Vasselheim's isolationism and strength and distain for arcane magic in historical context, you can't really blame them. Are they over the top about their dislike of arcane magic? Sure. Is it quite possibly the most understandable over reaction in the history of over reactions? Also yes! They haven't made it illegal, they are just going to keep an eye on you, so you don't pull a Vespin Chloras and doom the planet to another few centuries of choked skies and sundered landscapes, that's all. Vespin was IN Vasselheim! Of COURSE they have strong feelings about it. The (Almost) End of the World began in Vasselheim due to arcane magic. If they had been stricter, maybe it wouldn't have happened at all!
And it really does paint their actions in Campaign 1 in a different light as well. Their isolationism can come across as shortsighted and selfish, until you view it from their point of view. Which is that they are constantly under threat, they know for a fact that Asmodeus wants their city destroyed, they are a bastion for the Prime Deities in a world filled with many heathens (lol that's where the dickishness comes in) and the Betrayer Gods would take any sign of weakness in their defenses and attack with glee. Hearing it in C1 it sounds like an excuse not to help against the Chroma Conclave, but it is literally just the truth from what I can tell. In BOTH Calamity and Downfall they have mentioned destroying Vasselheim being on the Betrayer God's to do list lol. If I was on a Betrayer God's to do list specifically, by name, I too would be somewhat paranoid and would not really want to disarm any portion of the city to go do something else. No matter how important the something else might be.
Vasselheim was basically like; Look, I'm very sorry to hear about your Dragon problem, that sucks, truly, but if we go out all willy nilly and leave this city undefended, it'll be fucked when we get back. When you have a real plan, come back and get us and we'll join you for the big fight. Until then, it's up to you, here you can have Kima as well, she's been desperate to get out of here anyway, and here's some supplies. We have larger concerns than one continent being attacked by four ancient Dragons. We are the seed bank for civilization for when shit inevitably hits the fan. We are the doomsday bunker for the Apocalypse, four Ancient Dragons are terrible, but they are not the Apocalypse. And they are right. Looking at it all in context, The Chroma Conclave are small potatoes. Horrific, monstrous, life destroying, but compared to the threat Vasselheim is preparing for, nothing.
They are the doomsday preppers of Exandria, except the threat is real and they are only letting their collective trauma and ptsd inform their decisions a little bit. They are actually fairly rational all things considered. This city withstood the entire Calamity. The stewards of the city must feel an enormous weight and responsibility to keep it safe going into the future. Imagine the pressure. Are you going to be the one to fuck it all up, after thousands of years? Sounds like a nightmare to me. The level of devotion and conviction required to keep something like that going is incredible.

I've had a consistent thought in my head of the girls learning more about the upside down.
Like they know a bit: uncle Dustin still lives in Hawkins doing research on something, they've seen their dads and they know about the scars and their disabilities. They know something happened to their entire family and they know there was an earthquake that wasn't really an earthquake. But they've never learned more than that and they'll never know the details as long as Steve and Eddie have a say.
But at some point, each of them realizes that the monster hunter jokes that their dads make aren't really jokes.
In general, I think Steve and Eddie’s sentiment surrounding how they address the not-so-pleasant aspects of their past with their daughters is that they won’t lie (because that’ll only come back to bite them in the ass later), but they’re also only going to tell them as much of the truth as they literally need to.
Not that Moe knows any of this.
All Moe really knows is that her dads went through some scary-ass shit when they were her age and they don’t really talk about it.
Still, Moe has eyes. Maybe she didn’t realize it when she was little, but even just the sheer amount of scar tissue her dads have isn’t exactly normal. When she asks where they got them, though, all they ever say is that a monster tried to eat them.
Moe also knows that the reason Pop doesn’t usually join them on shopping trips at the mall is because they can trigger bad migraines, and she knows the reason he gets migraines in the first place is that he’d taken too many hits to the head in too short a time, but when she asks how he’d gotten a concussion and then a TBI and then two more concussions in the span of four years he always just says something like picked a fight with the wrong Russian spy, or something like that.
And it’s public knowledge that Dad was accused of murder when he was in high school and nearly died before the charges got dropped, but when she asks about what happened, he gives her some spiel about curses and demons and portals to alternate dimensions and monsters (again, with the monsters).
They’re kidding, Moe knows. They’re giving obviously fake answers because…well, for a lot of reasons, she can imagine– not wanting to relive whatever actually happened, not wanting to put their own trauma onto Moe and her sisters.
Honestly, Moe doesn’t really even bother asking about it anymore because they clearly don’t want to talk about it, and if it really was that bad, she can’t even blame them. Besides, she’s pretty sure that dads are supposed to be total mysteries to their kids, so…whatever.
The story of what happened in Hawkins, Indiana starts to gain some public attention again while Moe is in high school – one of those true crime conspiracy theory-type stories people make Reddit threads and YouTube videos about, and apparently (because Moe has no interest, but Robbie likes that kind of stuff) Dad almost always comes up in them, Pop sometimes.
Around that time is when Moe’s dads start to get all kinds of media requests – not that Pop had any idea. He’s basically chronically offline, so no one is really able to track him down other than finding his work email on Psychology Today, but he’s got filters set up to send that shit to spam so he doesn’t even have to see it. Dad, on the other hand, is (supposedly) well-known for his books or whatever, so he doesn’t have the same kind of anonymity. He got all sorts of calls and emails from people wanting his first-hand account, but he always refused to participate, told them to lose his number and never contact him or his family ever again.
That’s the kind of thing that really rattled Pop – Moe didn’t like that. He’s kind of an immovable object in that way, so seeing him rattled just seemed wrong.
They’d even needed to threaten legal action against one online tabloid who just wouldn’t leave them alone – not that Moe is supposed to know about that, but she’d eavesdropped on a phone call between her dads and Uncle Dustin, who seems to exist as a central point in it all even if Moe doesn’t know why (maybe it has something to do with how her dads always complaining about how he still works for that lab, whatever that means).
“Are you ever gonna tell us what really happened?” Moe asks one day, when it’s just her and Pop in the car on their way home from a basketball tournament in Connecticut.
He sighed, not taking his eyes off the road.
“Hon, can I ask you to stop and consider that maybe we have been?”
And for her dad’s sake, she does, she makes herself run through the mental log of all the lore or whatever she’s unlocked over the years.
Monsters, Russian spies, superpowers, demon-animals, curses, portals to alternate realities, government corruption, evil scientists.
Bullshit, she’d always thought, but…her dad had never bullshitted her before. Why would he choose to start with this?
Moe looked back at him, some kind of question on the tip of her tongue even though she had no idea what to ask, and this time, Pop spared a glance back.
“I’m not telling you everything,” he warned her as he looked back at the highway stretching out endlessly ahead of them, and Moe tried to keep any signs of disappointment off her face, “But I’ll tell you some.”
#ooh Moe-POV how do we feel about this#steve isn’t rattled he’s gearing up to defend eddie to the grave again#moe just can’t tell the difference#steddie#liv’s steddie dads verse#steddie dads#steve harrington#eddie munson

latest fix rant time
none of my friends want to talk to me about monkey movies and then i remembered i have a whole blog dedicated to my latest fixations so. i've watched Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes two (TWICE ✌️) times in theaters. this was after watching the newer trilogy (Rise, Dawn & War) and the first 1968 original in prep.
things (SPOILERS!!!):
Kingdom's run time is 2 hours and 25 minutes. this is incredibly long for a movie. compared to 1968's 1 hour and 52 minutes, that's a half hour difference. Infinity War was 2 hours and 36 minutes for reference. that's a whole marvel cinematic convergence, but ape. the run time isn't exactly the issue i've seen talked about. it's the pacing. sitting twice through this movie was not a problem for me. i sat there engaged all the way through. on the second watch, i tried to be mindful of times in which it might have been dragging for the average person, and i like, literally couldn't find any. pretty much every scene had meaning and didn't drag imo. which is something these newer movies do extremely well. Kingdom is pretty equally split between verbal communication and sign language compared to the first three before it. the apes use both verbal and visual cues to talk. but because they don't talk every single time, it makes every moment that they do feel special. it reminds me of the Quiet Place concept, where most of the movie you only hear a human voice a few select times when it's safe to do so. Rise, Dawn, & War were kind of like this, as Caesar only really spoke when he was trying to make a point or communicating to humans, who are mostly speaking in those movies. he speaks more as he gets more fluent, and by War, he can speak very well. we see other apes like Koba, Maurice, Blue Eyes, and Bad Ape also speak English. these moments are rationed pretty well throughout Kingdom, making the dialog more select and meaningful. this makes every time these beasts talk feel like it means something and isn't just fluff to fill your ears. every other scene feels like it's building or showing a side of a character we hadn't seen before, and the scenes between those advance the plot or are like, really action-packed. i just don't see why some people say it has pacing problems. it's just long. i understand the average person's attention span is super short, but when you're sitting down to watch two and a half hours of movie, you gotta know there's gonna be downtime. moments where they're not fighting or advancing the plot. and i think that's GOOD man. but im also not one for action/adventures very much so maybe that's it? i think a lot of people maybe watch these apes for the violence and conflict rather than their introspection, genuinely thoughtful world building, and complex characters. and hey, that's completely fine to enjoy, but POTA is originally about morals and asking the audience questions and posing dilemmas to popular beliefs at the time. ok
Raka. he's great. Peter Macon has this butter smooth voice that's just perfect for the kind of character he plays. you can't help but like him. but he dies like 1/3 into the movie and is really only there to religion dump about Caesar (ape jesus) and then he's swept away. people are complaining that that's all he was really there for. to explain the real values of Caesar and provide a foil to Proximus. and i agree to some degree. i really hope he's not actually dead. his presence and death are felt throughout the movie, as both Mae and Noa (mostly Noa vocalizes it, Mae just silently shares in his loss and i think cries at one point?) seem to mourn him, saying shit like "if Raka were here..." and especially at the end when Noa gives the Caesar pendant to her. it's the shared memory of Raka and what he devoted his life to. but they never really like, actually linger on his death. there's a moment after he's swept away, and the shot stays on the rushing waters, Raka no longer visible and plays some sad tunes, but like. C'MON. he's not really dead. he isn't please tell me he isn't PLEASE
Noa isn't Caesar. i honestly do not get why you would want otherwise. of course, he isn't Caesar. we don't need another Caesar. he had a whole three movies to be the center of. i would be extremely disappointed if they just made a carbon copy of him or made Noa like a direct descendant of him or whatever. i hate that Chosen One bullshit. Caesar was just a guy that wanted peace for his people and that got him killed in the end. Noa is also a guy who wants peace for his clan. they're both leaders and have good hearts, but like. they're different characters. i LIKE that Noa has no relation to Caesar, i LIKE that he's his own character with his own ideals and purpose. Owen Teague does a wonderful job making the character his own. i mean Andy Serkis is Andy fucking Serkis. pretty big shoes to fill and i think Teague has the right foot size you know. i heard one guy say like "we've had our time to mourn Caesar" and yeah. we have. let's accept that and move on
WHERE MY APE DIVERSITY AT. we get a fuck ton of chimps, ONE orangutan, ONE gorilla, and ONE bonobo. what the hell. i mean. what is with the bonobo villian. Koba i fucks with because bonobos are some of the most playful, nonviolent apes out there. that humanity and its cruelty could twist a naturally peaceful creature into what Koba became.. i mean, that's great. but again with Proximus? maybe trying to evoke some of the same energy and nuance Koba had? ALSO. GORILLA PSA they are like so sweet. all that muscle is there to protect their families, and they're strictly vegetarians. i feel like Rise, Dawn, & War portrayed this better with most of the gorillas getting bodyguard jobs because of all their bulk. especially when Luca tucks that flower in Nova's ear. man. and Red going out like he did. gentle giants. in Kindgom we just have Sylva. gorilla henchman for Proximus. that's it. then we have Raka, the one orangutan character that i saw. wise and knowledgeable, guides and accompanies Noa and Mae then dies. at least we get one female chimp character that's more than just wife or mother. wikipedia lists Soona as Noa's love interest, which i can totally dig, like it's there. he takes her to the telescope at the end of Kingdom, which is more than what we saw romance-wise between Caesar and Cornelia. and the only other important chimp female is Dar, Noa's mom. in Rise, Dawn & War there was usually only one of each species of ape assigned a main role, but we saw much more diversity it felt like. maybe that's because there were smaller in numbers and have since spread out in the last 300 years? also like, bonobos are known for having female-female & male-male sex. dont know about the other apes. my friend mentioned that Raka said something about having a male companion and promptly searched reddit. all they had to say was: gaype?
the visuals. dear god the visuals. this movie is just visually stunning. absolutely breathtaking. they did a great job. i mean Rise, Dawn, & War are all triumphs of cgi and are excellent examples of the animation style done right. i did hear some guy say there is a loss of texture, as mostly everything in Kingdom is cgi, from the characters to the landscapes. but there's an explosion of texture in this film. there's one point where Noa is covered in the ash of his village and you can see it on his fur. there's quite a couple water scenes where the moisture clings to the apes' fur. It's all very impressive. great work
the references!! Rise especially has a ton of them (IT'S A MADHOUSE!!! & GET YOUR STINKIN PAWS OFF ME YOU DAMN DIRTY APE), and names like Nova and Cornelius, but Kingdom... i picked up on at least three main instances, but im sure there are more. there's the scene where the apes are rounding up the feral humans, and its very reminiscent of the scene from 1968 where they're doing the same thing for sport. there's the scene where Mae is running in the field, and she jumps on that log structure to get to Noa, which is nearly identical to a similar scene in 1968. the scene when Noa, Soona, and Anaya are exploring the human bunker and they come across an old classroom. one of them picks up a doll that says a distorted "Mama" which was huge in the original because that was evidence that once man did speak, why else would he make a doll that talked? superb call backs to the og. respect what was there before
SCHLONG THEORY
here me out guys. the starring ape-human relationship in Rise was between Caesar and Will. this type of love is called storge and describes the love a child has for a parent as well as the love a parent has for their child.
the starring ape-human relationship in Dawn was ultimately between Caesar and Malcolm. which i believe is truly philia towards the end, the love between friends and allies. just two dudes trying to keep peace in the world.
in War, i mean Caesar well and truly hates the Colonel. like more than he's hated any human in his life before. close to mania, obsession. anyways it's a study on this type of relationship between an ape and a human. true, all consuming hate.
SO in the newer movies we've explored familial love, platonic love, and hate, between an ape and a human.
in Kingdom the main ape-human relationship is between Noa and Mae. and their relationship is complex. not really that friendly and certainly not familial. no trust. some kind of begrudging respect maybe? i just think it would be neat if in further installments they explored a romantic love between a human and an ape. ok.
i KNOW Noa and Soona are probably going to get ape married and they're never going to touch on the subject but i just find it hard to believe that in the last 300 years or so that's NEVER been heard of. apes have the same level of intimacy between each other as humans do in this universe and can willingly consent. what are you so afraid of wes ball
after all, the whole franchise is about how apes, when given intelligence, compare to humans and begs the question: how different are we really?
is it possible for an ape and a human to fall in love?
#WILL talk about sentient apes for hours#straight off the noggin#kingdom of the planet of the apes#he was an ape#she was a girl#can i make it any more obvious#schlong rants

Okay so, ima type in what I typed to my friend here.
"Yeah Ima be so dead ass. ||Mel and Ekko carried the final for me, ESPECIALLY Ekko."
Yeah, they should have just kept [Viktor] being Ryze. That made more sense to me than whatever this is. And I am all for mlm rep, but yeah, this felt WAY too, Jayvikky. I liked it better that they were brothers to parallel Vander and Silco, who also found each other and became bros, but it seemed like they went with how popular JayVik was and stuck with it. And Jayce being strung with Viktor for wherever they went felt...kinda nonsensical. I'd rather that Viktor was thwarted and too far gone to then just suddenly have a change of heart and go with Jayce. I imagined that he would have a contingency where he, incase his body was destroyed, would then later rise again to try and enact "Glorious Evolution". It would go well with the themes of his beliefs anyway because every time he dies, he comes back stronger in a new body. I feel like that would better set the ongoing conflict and fit well with the game and why he looks the way he does currently.
I also don't like how quick he and Mel's reunion was considering how much he favored her along with his odd and sudden dislike for her decisions-- Seriously, where did that even come from!?"
[Thought it over further. Him calling her out on her actions isn't the issue. It's the timing and how this transpires that confuses me. He just came from a post-apocalyptic world where Mel, Viktor, and everything else came to mind. The lack of time for them to truly talk made the scene felt out of nowhere and not at all fleshed out. He goes on to place part of the blame on her when literally it wasn't. She DID manipulate but only politically. Everything else was on he and Viktor. Then, when he DOES confront Viktor, the vibes are different. Viktor hurt and caused a chain of events that led to several lives being taken to ensure survival and his "Glorious Evolution", why is this essentially overlooked? Maybe when I review this again, it will make more sense, but as of now, the way Jayce treats both Mel and Viktor is VERY questionable.]
"I would have been pretty happy if He at least gave her a hug, a kiss, something to make their relationship seem consistent with what we were shown. I know that he's been gone for a while and a lot more cold, but this was a very odd direction to go with. I am super happy about Cait and Mel fighting side by side and that Mel may be the main character for a new Noxus related show! [Which I knew they'd set up!] but this series, after seeing it in its entirety, DID suffer too much from the pacing issues. I assumed at the First Act that it was quick paced to go with how they've all been shifted into places they didn't see coming, but the pacing issues continued to bring down the quality. 3 seasons would have made way more sense and would go well with the 3 ACT formula they had used. I hope they learn from this and refrain from making similar mistakes.
[I responded to my friend who posted these images above] I knew they'd make a callback to this line eventually, and I am genuinely surprised people are not catching this obvious set up to Jinx living. Also, I am betting that Heimer did "die" but only that alternate version of himself. [Though obviously I could be wrong, though a life of various lifetimes where he helps each version of the main cast sounds very Heimerdinger of him, especially since he didn't wanna leave.]
The biggest letdown for me has to be Jayce and Viktor's story. It just...doesn't make sense with what we have been shown. Also, if Viktor KNOWS bad shit would happen when bringing Hextech to life and all, why TF would he give it to Jayce then???? Or if he STILL wanted magic to be tampered with shy doesn't he comvince himself in a way HE KNOWS would prevent what happens next, surely NOT EVERY timeline has it where you continue on the path of destruction! You see what I mean!?!? Leave the time crap to Ekko, man. This new inclusion makes no sense! And he does this in VARIOUS timeliness for some reason. Man, I wish it was just a random ass mage or Ryze, this added stuff kinda kills the finale for me🫠
I feel that making Viktor time travel ruins a huge aspect of the story, ngl, especially when Jayce argues that people can "craft their own path." The story also shouldn't have ended with what I could only assume both of them "dying" or traversing time instead. Also, the way Sky was treated and essentially replaced with Jayce feels....very very weeeeird."
[I believe that the ending just didn't land that well. I feel, now thinking over every character, Ekko, Mel, and Jinx carried this season HEAVY. These 3 were the most interesting parts of the season, honorable mention being Singed cause he be doing what he MUST. Also, what was the point of introducing Loris if all he was gonna end up being was a random guy who reminded Vi of Vander? I guess nothing is wrong with this, but when you're already stringing for time, these inclusions make no sense... I liked him, though, RIP Loris🤧. Oh, and Caut barely facing consequences is KINDA CRAZY but it goes with the themes of forgiveness/ acceptance. The Cycle would never end, after all, but yeah Vi and Cait made up WAY too fast and just shows that this needed another season. Let me know your thoughts!]

I'm literally in love with your OCS and I'm honestly a whore for lore sooo can you tell us a bit more bout their past? Or maybe just little snippets of their present day life! I'm so curious about them (*˘︶˘*).。.:*♡
-🗝 anon
Help… I get so nervous about posting lore for my OCs because my brain’s first reaction is, “who cares?” 😭 Except……. I care…… And I’m really glad you asked! ( ´ ꒳ ` )
I’ll try not to say too much.... Even if it's tempting to ramble.......
Luka has always been more closed off and unemotional– he's been like that since birth. When he was little, he was often bullied by his peers, being called weird and even a bit creepy. His expressions were always unreadable, his eyes devoid of life.
In an attempt to stop being picked on, Luka would constantly practice facial expressions in the mirror late at night. He often wondered if he was broken.
As he grew older, the bullying only grew worse– and it only ever stopped when he finally stood up for himself and fought back, nearly killing another kid. It happened when he was around twelve years old.
Honestly, sending another person to the hospital actually boosted his reputation more than anything. Instead of being just some slightly off-putting, emotionless guy, he became somewhat 'cool.' He was rewarded for his actions.
People suddenly started talking to him; they wanted to know more about him. Luka took it as his chance to finally "fit into society." He participated in sports, learned how to communicate with people, and worked towards mastering the art of manipulation. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
However... Luka has only ever had one person in his life that he’d truly call a “friend.” (¯▿¯)
As for Kairos… He was often nothing more than a shadow. Constantly ignored, always left behind, never spoken to. Kairos often made friends with little bugs that he’d find, and he’d keep his mind occupied by drawing hundreds of little pictures in his notebooks.
Every time he tried to talk to someone, they’d just call him a freak, giving him weird looks before walking away. After a while, he just stopped trying all together, fighting really hard to be content with living a lonely life.
Kairos felt like a shadow even in the comfort of his own home. His parents never acknowledged him- the most he could ever get from them is a glance or a few words. That's it. It'd be rare if he ever got to see them at all. They would often either be at work or going out to places without him. (。•́︿•̀。)
Kairos has spent most of his life wondering why he was ever born.

man i saw this and i was gonna write a whole post abt how maybe the problem for these ppl isn’t that ed wasn’t punished enough (even tho that’s what they say) maybe it’s that it’s a poorly-executed redemption arc but they don’t know how to verbalize that.
and that would actually make sense bc ed doesn’t have a redemption arc in s2. bc the show does not think ed needs redeeming. even at his worst and most harmful to the people around him the show is deeply sympathetic towards him and gives us sooooo much screentime dedicated to showing us that everything ed does he only does bc he’s hurting. which doesn’t excuse any of what he does but it does shift the narrative framing away from an actual redemption arc, where a character needs to like, learn why the things they did were bad and try to make amends. but ed never needed to learn anything, he knew his actions were unacceptable and that’s why he did them. he was trying to be the most horrific monster he could be in hopes that someone would get sick of him and kill him.
so then i went looking for an old post i wrote abt redemption arcs to talk abt why ed’s s2 arc probably reads like a poorly-written redemption arc for ppl who are expecting an actual redemption arc and. i change my mind actually. because “is this character willing to accept that their behavior is harmful, to make amends for their past behavior if at all possible, and to try and become a better person?” yeah we see ed do all of that tho.
Accept Their Behavior Is Harmful: i mean aside from the fact that ed knew this the whole time, we also see ed talking to fang about how guilty he feels for how he treated the crew. but like this isn’t zuko slowly unlearning an entire lifetime of fire nation propaganda, ed doesn’t need a season(s)-long arc abt this. He Already Knows
Make Amends For Their Past Behavior: like literally the whole thing with getting pushed off the ship!! wearing a sack and a collar at the crew’s behest!! he’s very much trying to make amends!!!!!
Try To Become A Better Person: there’s a lot i could talk abt here but just on a surface level, he’s trying to quit his job where he attacks and steals from random innocent ppl for a living. like objectively that job does not make you a good person. and also that job makes him miserable and when his mental health is in the shitter sometimes he hurts other ppl in his efforts to hurt himself so like!!! he is very much trying to not be the kind of person who forces crew members to fight to the death anymore!!!!
so yeah, thinking this was abt a “poorly-written redemption arc” was giving these ppl too much benefit of the doubt lol they just want to see ed grovel and suffer for an entire season, which was never going to happen lmao. the show thought izzy had more to apologize for than ed and that’s why ed’s apology was one sentence and izzy’s apology was a whole speech on his deathbed. the show thought izzy needed more punishment for his actions than ed did and that’s we see izzy get put through the physical ringer in the beginning of s2 and ed getting beat to death by the crew happens off-screen. ppl can argue all they want abt how ed did so much worse than izzy but at the end of the day the show disagrees with those takes and that’s why it treats these characters the way it does. die mad about it.

can i request lo’ak and reader get into a big argument that leads to them not talking for a while but lo’ak gets into an accident during battle and they work things out? im in need of some lo’ak angst 😖
a/n: i literally live for angst wc: 3,124
“Forgive me.”
pairing: lo’ak x fem! na’vi reader
contains: angst but ends with fluff, slight use of language
“Why do you have to be so reckless all the time? Your actions affect other people too, Lo’ak!”
You chased after your mate as he angrily stalked away from you and into your tent, but you were quick to enter after him before he could abandon the conversation.
“Do you ever stop and ask yourself how I feel when you do stuff like this?”
He spun around to face you, hands tossed in the air in aggravation before they went to hold his head.
“I just- God, not everything is about you, Y/n! Every time we fight about this it’s just you, you, you! Why the hell do you care so much, anyway?”
To say that the argument you and Lo’ak had wasn’t pretty would be an understatement. It was downright hideous. The both of you yelling at the other, feeling unheard no matter how much you raised your voices.
You’re frustrated beyond imaginable. It’s like nothing you say ever gets through to him, no matter what approach you take.
You’d sat down with him so many times to let him know you were always there if he wanted to talk. That it was okay to express his emotions, to uproot them and get them off his chest, instead of burying them. And of course, it didn’t work. He’d simply brushed you off, got up from his seat and told you it was no big deal. But if it was bothering him, then to you, it was a big deal.
He’d been making some pretty irresponsible decisions lately, a couple that nearly landed him in the Tsahik’s tent more times than you could count. He’d disappear into the forest, sometimes even after eclipse, without letting anyone know where he was headed.
Anytime he got into it with his father, he’d leave you pacing up and down your shared tent, worried about his safety and praying he hadn’t ran into more trouble. Sometimes you managed to stay up until he returned, and still you’d welcome him with open arms regardless of the fear he’d put you through for hours. And other times he’d be gone for so long that you would accidentally doze off and spend the night alone, just to wake the next morning to Lo’ak still unwilling to have a conversation about what was going on with him.
He was your mate, and he had the nerve to ask you why you cared about him?
The ridiculous question had temporarily addled you, and you stepped back a bit in slight shock as you shook your head at him.
“I- I care because I love you, Lo’ak. And I miss you… it feels like you aren’t even here anymore. I’m only trying to help.”
Your words faded to a murmur and your hand went to rub at your arm. Your face grew hot and you suddenly felt embarrassed, running after him like a lost puppy to tell him something he already knew. The agitated look on his face had you feeling smaller than ever; you felt like a nuisance.
He huffed out what was meant to be a laugh before responding to you, and your brows furled at his careless demeanor.
“Dealing with my dad nagging on me is enough, so maybe if you’d just get off my ass for two goddamned seconds I’d actually want to be around more.”
He didn’t mean it. You knew he didn’t mean it. Hell, he knew he didn’t mean it. It was his father who made him feel this way and he’d simply misdirected his anger at you. He regretted saying such a thing almost as soon as he realized what words his brain had decided to form. But that didn’t stop the tears from breaking through the puddle of moisture that’d already been forming in your eyes, and it sure as hell didn’t stop you from harshly tearing your bicep from his grasp when he grabbed onto it in hopes of taking back what he said.
His shoulders drooped as your cheeks quickly dampened, and he approached you with what would’ve been an apology, if the harsh shove you’d sent against his chest hadn’t caused his voice to catch in his throat.
“Fuck you, Lo’ak.”
It spat like venom from your tongue— some of the last words you’d spoken to him that day had too been ones you didn’t mean. But in the heat of your anger, all your hurt, you didn’t know what else to say.
The truth was, Lo’ak just wasn’t used to people checking up on him the way you would.
It was the same old routine. His dad would yell at him, his mom would give him a silent look of disapproval even if his dad had gone a little too far with the scolding, then he’d run off and hide out for the rest of the day to avoid any further confrontation.
They’d given up on him a long time ago. No one would ask where he went, how long he’d been gone, or even inquire if he was okay after taking such a talking to. That was, until you came along. But for years he’d worked so hard on coaching himself not to care, his tear stained face that’d gone unwiped a constant reminder that he didn’t need anyone but himself.
But you… you’re just so nurturing, so understanding. You’re always worried about him and he doesn’t know how to handle it. It’s the look in your eyes when you stroke his cheek and ask him what’s wrong, it’s like you can see right through the facade everyone else is fooled by. The mask of indifference he puts on is never enough to throw you off his trail or quell your concern.
And it’s scary honestly, how quickly you can have him facing his emotions instead of running from them. He should embrace having someone like you by his side, someone who’s willing to walk through the good and the bad right with him. But Lo’ak was never good at doing what he was supposed to do.
He’d broken through the curtained entrance to your home almost two hours after the argument, stopping dead in his tracks once his eyes had fallen to the sight of you shoving some of your belongings into a sack. The question you’d been dreading came immediately, but you insisted through a tremored voice that you thought staying with your parents for a few days would be best, to give each other space.
And all he did was nod. Because what else could he do? Take back the sentence that’d probably been ringing in your head for hours already? While he did exactly what you two had just argued over, stormed out and disappeared without any information of his whereabouts for who knows how long? You were tired of it, and he wouldn’t be surprised if you were tired of him too.
________
Days went by, but to Lo’ak it felt like years without being able to do so much as hold your hand. Getting close to you proved to be impossible, and he wondered how you’d become so much better at avoiding others than he was.
He harbored way too much pride to try and ask his mother for advice, but he couldn’t lie and say he wasn’t considering it with how much this was all starting to hurt. Every time your eyes would catch his from across the common grounds, his heart would swell with a gust of hope, only for it to deflate when you’d quickly tear them away, your feet always quick to start off in the opposite direction whenever he’d begin to approach you.
After that, you avoided every place you knew Lo’ak would be, and of course Kiri wouldn’t budge when he asked if she’d seen you around. He’d even gone to your parents’ hut to find you and apologize, just to not make it up the first step when your younger sister had stopped him before he could come any closer to the entrance. With an uncertain look of remorse and her hands behind her back, she insisted that she was instructed to inform him that you didn’t want to see him.
Lo’ak wanted nothing more than to hold you, to comfort you and apologize for everything he’d done and then some. But every failed attempt to reconcile further reminded him of the night you told him you wanted space, and while he tried to respect your wishes, he just couldn’t understand them.
You were usually a stickler for communication, and he wasn’t used to being avoided like this because you were always the one tracking him down. Before this happened, you constantly insisted on talking things out and you were never one to let an argument go on for more than a day, which is why he was left so confused once it reached the second day of silence.
He was too blind to realize why you’d been acting this way until Neteyam reminded him that this is exactly what he’d been doing to you— and that’s when it finally dawned on him. He hated the taste of his own medicine, because being ignored by the one you love is far more bitter than he could’ve ever imagined. The weight of his actions had finally set in, and he’d never felt more like an asshole than he did in that moment.
______
Eclipse has long passed and the hut is quiet, painfully quiet. Lo’ak’s heart twinges a little everytime he turns his head to the side, bleary eyes expecting to meet your sleeping form curled up next to him, only for them to mull over the dreaded emptiness that’s occupied your side of the bed for three days now.
Each grueling hour has given him a glimpse of what you’ve been enduring for weeks and he fucking hates it.
He tosses and turns for a bit until he uncomfortably wallows in the realization that he won’t be getting any sleep tonight. The arms that should’ve been holding you close to his chest are stretched outwards, his gaze glued to the ceiling while his mind keeps him awake with endless guilt over what he’d said. How hurt you looked when he’d been dumb enough to make you feel like a burden, all because he couldn’t handle his own emotions. Maybe he’d finally pushed you far enough, far enough to give up on him like everyone else had. And the worst part is, he has no one to blame other than himself, like always.
_______
You were never one to hold grudges for long, this you knew. But that really became fact once you found yourself whisking through the crowd faster than you thought your feet would ever carry you. Yelling out hasty apologies and ‘excuse me’s to the air, too anxious to reach your destination to actually turn around and direct it towards those you’d bumped into.
You should’ve known something was wrong when you asked around earlier and found out the war party had yet to return; they’d stayed out almost an hour past their estimated arrival back to the village and everyone waited anxiously for an update.
You went back to your hut and tried to remain positive. You told yourself you were worrying over nothing, that everything was fine and maybe things had just taken longer than expected— mostly because you were too afraid to page Lo’ak in fear of pushing him away even more due to your supposed overbearing nature.
But when it was Kiri who’d come to fetch you with slightly widened eyes, no words were needed for you to shoot up to your feet, because her alarmed expression was enough to tell you that something had happened to him.
Everyone’s head snaps to the doorway once you break through the flaps to the infirmary, and even Neytiri stops tending to Neteyam’s wounds for a breath as she looks up at you. Your chest is heaving, your eyes frantic in their search for Lo’ak. She’s well aware of the latest predicament his stubbornness has gotten himself into with you, and it’s hard for her to fathom how her youngest son managed to mate with one of the most caring girls in the village.
“Where is he?” You’re breathless from your sprint but you hadn’t noticed, your mind is racing with a million possibilities that you’re trying to put a stop to.
Mo’at simply nods her head, willing to look past your lack of a respectful greeting for obvious reasons.
“This way, child.”
You follow closely behind her, nervously picking at the skin of your fingers as you spot numerous wounded warriors resting in cots, your heart drops as the intensity of wounds only progress as you continue walking.
Too busy ogling at the severity of injuries, you nearly come face first with Mo’at’s back when her strides suddenly halt. A sheet is pulled back to reveal your wounded mate and you gasp, a hand shooting up to cover your mouth as your eyes widen, but Mo’at is silent and only ushers you in with a hand.
You rush to Lo’ak’s side immediately and carefully kneel next to his body, eyes softening at his unconscious state. Your first instinct is to reach out and touch him, but your hand hesitates once you catch sight of his torso bandaged over, the thick gauze slightly stained with deep crimson. Your head swings up, eyes pleading to Tsahik for answers before your mouth can.
“Though my grandson is injured, he is also very lucky. A demon airship went unspotted, however the blast managed to miss him by a few feet.”
Your lips purse as you try not to imagine the scene in your mind, your gaze sweeping over his wounds one last time before it lands on his face, littered with tiny scrapes and grazes you assume are from shrapnel.
“Oh, Lo’ak…” You murmur, your touch featherlight as you gently caress his temple. You position yourself behind him and carefully slide your hands beneath his head before you lift it, allowing it to rest atop your thighs to make him as comfortable as possible.
Mo’at watches carefully. You and Lo’ak are a mated pair under Eywa, so she was immediately able to feel the dissonance that had brewed between you two the moment you stepped into the infirmary. Though she was more than pleased to see that whatever had occurred proved to be insignificant the moment you saw him.
“His body took quite the beating, so he will be asleep for a while. You are welcome to stay if you please.”
And with that she leaves the both of you alone, though she’s not sure you heard her with how focused you are on making sure the rise and fall of his chest remains steady.
You sat with Lo’ak like that for almost four hours, too restless to close your eyes for more than a few minutes in fear that you’d miss something. A slightly louder exhale through his nostrils would have your lids snapping back open and your gaze darting over his form, only for you to sigh once you’d realize he was still asleep. You’re sure it’s night now, but you haven’t gotten up to check, let alone eat because you can’t bring yourself to leave him.
When your legs finally grew numb to the point your skin felt it was being pricked with needles, you decided to place a cushion under his head instead to give your muscles a break.
And now you’re perched against the wall with your knees to your chest, your chin resting atop them and you don’t know when you dozed off or for how long, but the sound of him groaning has you alert instantly.
Your eyes shoot open and catch sight of him stirring from his sleep against the mat, every speck of drowsiness washed from your body in a split second.
“Oh my- Lo’ak!” You scramble to your hands and knees and crawl your way towards him, ignoring the scrape of wood along your skin. Your heart’s beating a mile a minute, but he finally comes to and you whisper an array of hushed thank yous to the great mother while you carefully wipe the sweat from his temple with a nearby cloth.
In a daze he tries to sit up, but winces at the movement as his injuries instantly make themselves known. He groans in pain and moves to reach for his side as his other arm struggles to prop him up, though it only exacerbates his discomfort.
“No, no,” You’re quick to press a hand to his chest, gently guiding him back down to the mat despite his reluctancy. “You must rest.”
He hastily blinks the mist from his view when he hears your voice, an incredulous look on his pain-strained face the moment his mind is clear enough to recognize your features.
“Y/n? What happened?” His voice is groggy and he’s inclined to take a look around, but his head is pounding and he can’t seem to take his eyes off you. You were last person he expected to see at his side, especially with how he’d been treating you lately.
“There was a blast, and you… You’re hurt, Lo’ak. Eywa, I was so worried, you’ve been asleep for hours.” Reaching down to grab his hand in both of yours, you bring it close to your heart and give him a saddened smile.
His brows bunch together in the middle and he’s almost certain he’s heard you incorrectly. It’s like he can’t believe you’re even touching him, with the way his eyes bounce back and forth from his hand against your chest to the sincere expression you wear.
“You- you’ve been here the whole time?” He asks.
Your head tilts in question, and it’s then made clear to him that what happened a few days ago has flung so far from your focus due to his injured state.
“Yes, of course I have… Why wouldn’t I be?” You blink.
He sighs and looks away, as if he’s contemplating whether he should even bring it up and risk upsetting you all over again. “Our argument, what I said that night I… I thought you hated me.” His voice cracks as he brings his eyes back to yours, and the tears welling in them send a splinter through your heart. “I thought you weren’t gonna come back.”
“Stop it,” You shake your head vehemently, nearly hard enough to give yourself a headache. “Please, do not say such things. I could never hate you, Lo’ak. We both said some things we didn’t mean and I-“
“No, No. Don’t do that.” He’s quick to cut you off and sits up regardless of your immediate warning against it, but he insists, so you brace a hand along his back to help him. He sucks a sharp breath in through his teeth, the effort of moving being more tasking than he expected as he cradles his side with a bandaged arm.
“Don’t do what?”
He exhales and settles with his legs crossed, looking down at your hand, more than grateful that he’s even able to hold it. He glances back up at you when he speaks, though he fails to hold contact for long. He’s too ashamed to even look at you.
“Make excuses for me. The whole thing was my fault and you know it. I’ve been treating you terribly, I made you feel like a bother when you’re exactly the opposite of that, all because I didn’t want to deal with my own shit and I’m… I’m sorry baby. I’m so sorry.” He lets you hold his face in the palms of your hands, and somehow the act of your thumbs brushing his tears away before they can even fall completely only makes his shoulders shudder more.
Your expression is solemn as he repeatedly utters his apology. It’s not often Lo’ak cries in front of you, and you keep telling him that it’s okay but he shakes his head because he knows it’s not, he’s only lucky enough to have a mate so understanding. Because somehow, even after all he’s done you’re still so gentle with him, and he can’t believe he ever made you think he didn’t want this.
“Will you forgive me?” He asks through a stuttered inhale, glossed amber eyes peering into yours with doubt. It comes as a whisper, your response, almost immediate and he feels like he can finally breathe as an unbearable weight lifts from his shoulders.
“I already have.”
His arm snakes around your middle and he’s pulling you into his lap sideways before you can stop him.
“Lo’ak…” You refuse to put all your weight onto him, your hands just ghosting over his shoulders as you gently try to pull yourself off him.
“No, I’m fine. Stay.” His hold on you tightens to the best of his ability when you try to move, though you’re not sure you believe his claim, because he winces again once you shift your weight to sit comfortably.
“I’m going to make your injuries worse.” You sigh.
“This hurts less than not being able to hold you for four days. Trust me.” He chuckles dryly, you can tell it’s lacking in humor and you chew your lip at that.
It’s obvious he’s not going to let you up, so you relax the slightest bit in his hold and use a finger to lift his chin, so your eyes meet. “Can you promise me something?”
His response is swift, the nod of his head eager. “Anything.”
“Please, no more disappearing. I can’t stand not knowing if you’re safe or not, and I really don’t like sleeping alone.” You mumble. He gives your side a comforting squeeze, as if to say ‘i’m sorry’ again.
A brief kiss is pressed to the round of your shoulder as he looks up at you, then he responds. “I promise, baby. No more disappearing, you have my word.”
You continue.
“And when something is bothering you, we work through it, together. That means you talk about your emotions, not run away from them.” You quirk your eyebrow at him when he grumbles slightly under his breath. He glances to the side for a beat, then he nods again, and though a little more hesitant than the first, you’ll take what you can get.
“I promise.” He gives you a small smile as reassurance and leans into your touch when you go to tuck a braid behind his ear.
“Good. Now do you wanna tell me what the hell you were doing on the field instead of in the air?”
“Uh...”

THIS ONE IS IMPORTANT!
This is one of my delusional cotl theories, I worked about a few days for it so don't wait too much. It's very long, just so you know
Today, our subject is the bishops. Though in cult of the lamb wiki's story segment states a few events, no evidence and connection is shown. And considering that wiki pages are written by people, it's not a %100 correct.
Death of bishops
Ever wondered why Narinder is the only bishop you can make a follower before Mystic Sellers appearance? Or why don't the bishops end up with Narinder when they die? Let me tell you.
When we kill a bishop, they don't end in the death realm but end up with Mystic. That's why we can only get them back after being introduced to the seller. They own them.
And Narinder? He already lives in the death realm and if you notice, you don't entirely defeat him until the option segment, his life bar still having a bit of hp. You only hurt with him until he can't fight. When you choose to kill him, he then gets sent to Mystic for us to claim him later on.
Mystic's thoughts
"I recall Leshy. Prior to yourself, he was the last to bargain with me. Adept as he was, he rose quickly to the challenges of Godhood, aided by his siblings. Many were drawn to his chaotic ways."
Mystic Seller seems to observe and know everything that had gone through Leshy's godhood even moments of help from his siblings. Tho, not the first godhood.
"I am not inclined to emotion, the way your kind are. Though if I were, Heket would certainly inspire amusement. She was perhaps the most vicious of them. Wicked beast."
No matter how badly the Mystic Seller spoke of Heket's actions, they seem to find sadistic inspiration in her actions. They do not have characteristics such as emotion, but observation expands their world. Which is weird, because that's probably a look you'd wait for Leshy.
"It did not matter to Kallamar that his ears were lost, for he was never inclined to listen. Foolish though he may have seemed, he wielded the power of his Crown without discrimination."
We all know Kallamar's cowardice. But Mystic does not see this as cowardice and even interprets this fear, which has become a self-protection mechanism, as a strategy. Cause Mystic has no emotions and can't understand fear.
"Shamura and I did not barter much. In truth, they need little from me. Truly, 'twas shame what became of them."
Mystic and Shamura seem to actually talk and have a conversation unlike the other siblings Mystic talks about. And Shamura is the only bishop that Mystic sees higher, thinking that Shamura didn't need them at all.
"A toy for you. Benefactor, comrade, malignant foe... redemption or punishment, 'tis yours to confer as you see fit." Gifts you Narinder as a Follower in his exclusive Follower Form. (Without the immortal trait)
This section is important because Mystic doesn't say anything about Narinder's past. While they normally talk about an event that happened in his siblings' own lives, Narinder doesn't seem to mean much to them. They neither belittle him nor exalt him. Narinder is very unimportant to them.
Now, I'd like to think that Mystic were there. Before the whole argument, it wasn't only the 5 bishops. Mystic saw it, Mystic heard it. Maybe even lived with them. Raised them, even. Mystic Seller, is the creator of them. Yeah. I said it. God of gods. How else can you explain him just replace the very gods you killed and put them back in their purged realms? Or idk, carry the ex god of death by their little tiny winy legs? Literally posses the body of the new god??? Tho, it seems like they are not the same realms anymore as if those places were... Altered.
Shamura. Wanna talk?
Shamura is both refered to as the god of war and god of might, which are quite the opposite of each other.
War, is something that grows from misunderstandings, greed and not thinking straight, which isn't very fit for god of might. And well, that made me think... I think... The bishops didn't/was supposed to have these roles before their fight with Narinder.
"I am not what I once was. Though no longer wise, I am no fool."
Shamura is aware that they are no longer the god of might, yet something another.
So this might mean, before the betrayal, the bishops had opposite godhoods. Or were supposed to have these godhoods.
Kallamar = God of health
Heket = Goddess of abundance
Leshy = God of peace
This makes sense when you consider the people that follow them. Why would someone follow a god who just means nothing but trouble? Even in our cult, we teach people about death and after life, reassure them or teach them. We make sense.
"I introduced him to ideas of change; for my domain is knowledge, and it is ever evolving. An organic state of being for myself, but for him… most unnatural. Death cannot flow backward." -Shamura
This. That green? Yeah that one. That's when Narinder's betrayal happened. Shamura, showed Narinder that there was a way to change things, which Narinder ended up doing so. And what did he do? Death cannot flow backward, he tried to give life. Narinder, the only member in the family that probably ended up with such negative thing as being the god of death, tried to make life.
"Bonds of familial duty, turned instead to chains. Most voracious of appetites, curbed and contained. Most infectious of ideas cut off and cauterised before given chance to rot and spread. Cruel, verily. Alas, what other recourse was given? How does one kill Death? ... Alas. One cannot." -Haro
Haro also seems to confirm this. The infectious ideas said there are, or rather is, Narinder's wish to change. Narinder's idea to change his own godhood. Tho, why would the bishops be so against it?
Notice how Haro has a "fallen" crown? Haro, probably back in the day, was the owner/god of Darkwood at some point. His unused animation also looks a lot like Leshy's transformation animation.
Haro, is possibly the first god that tried to change their godhood. In return, he got punished by loosing his crown and getting expelled from his godhood. This would explain why Leshy is the youngest, because he was a replacement.
"But as millennia wore on, he grew discontent with his role. He began to question. He was gluttonous in his ambition. And in my imprudence I loved him. For it, I lost my mind. For it, he lost his freedom. Can you fathom such betrayal, Lamb?"
Shamura knew what happened to Haro. After showing Narinder that there was a way to change things, they regretted it. Shamura genuinely loved their brother, no matter if it was by blood or by creator. The idea of Narinder might end up like Haro was what made Shamura loose their mind. Killing Narinder wasn't a punishment, it was a way to protect him and the remaining ones. The betrayal Shamura say is not Narinder's hostile acts but rather the way he thinks even tho Shamura had warned him.
Now, i know. I said that Mystic knew it and saw it and blah blah. But Mystic were there after Leshy lost his eye, Heket lost her throat and until Narinder's imprisonment. We can understand this from their dialog of witnessing Leshy and Heket's godhood and them saying "It's a shame what become of them" for Shamura is their disappointment of knowing someone like Shamura have ended up like this (Explained at timeline section)
Haro what do you have to say?
"Eons agone, these lands were rife with gods and their adherents. What befell this pantheon? Alas. 'Tis the nature of beasts to forget, and of Gods to be forgotten. Mayhap they left. Mayhap they slept. Mayhap they devoured and were devoured in turn. Those few who remained spread roots, spun webs, molded this world to meet them and theirs. 'Twere a land of many Gods once. Hundreds. Now..."
(the ones below are theories I can't really prove)
1-Haro, was probably the oldest, along with Shamura, god. He might be one of Mystic's first creation.
2-Haro seems to be talking about fox. Or kinda refers to him. The fox is known for taking Ratau, eating him. So this also makes the fox, or people like the fox known and been around.
3-Hundreds of gods, he says. Currently, we only have 10 (At the bottom) So, there was a class fight.
A little thing about Narinder and the twins. Heaven and hell, does in fact exist in the cotl universe. You can see it in the ascension and sacrifice rituals. Going above and going below. Fly to heaven and dragged to hell.
Which means dead souls are being sorted. Considering the fact that Narinder is restricted to move anywhere, that job ends up with the twins. Baal, obviously with his kind and respectful attitude, works in heaven. Aym, on the other hand, is very aggressive and intimidating so works in hell.
Timeline
A hundred gods, roamed on realms. For various reasons, they died of or how I like to refer, ended up in Mystic's hands.
Mystic created Shamura, Haro, Kallamar and Narinder. Understood them, talked with them.
Allocer and Astaroth were given to Shamura then to Kallamar, to encourage them into godhood and cult culture.
Heket was created, tho wasn't crowned.
Haro lost his godhood by disobeying, altering. This lead to the creation of Leshy.
After creation of Leshy, Mystic was not there to attend and see Leshy and Heket stepping into godhood.
Shamura took care of his siblings and helped them into godhood. Tho it's questionable on how good they managed that.
Agares and Bathin was given by Shamura to Heket and Leshy, to teach them about the same culture.
Shamura introduced Narinder to idea of change. Narinder refused his role as god of death and tried to be god of life.
Shamura knew what would happen to Narinder if the crown giver, Mystic Seller, learned about this. This caused an argument, most likely because Narinder believed that Haro was judged unfairly. So, there it came "see no evil, say no evil, hear no evil, think no evil"
The siblings lost their original godhoods. "If that's my destiny, you're coming down with me" kind of stuff.
Leshy and Heket stepped into godhood by the help of Shamura and Kallamar to be able to protect themselves. (Their rapid transition to godhood explains why they were defeated more easily than Kallamar and Shamura. They are inexperienced gods. If you notice, after the battle of Heket, Kallamar's battle is actually surprisingly difficult and fast.)
Witnesses hid in respective realms.
Mystic Seller came back. Narinder was not present yet what he left behind was. He saw the other bishops. Mystic Seller knew Heket and Leshy as the gods they were know. Not as what they were supposed to be.
"Five points to a pentagram, five portents of doom, five siblings stood abreast, five gods and one tomb..." Shamura's summarizing of the whole story. Their family and how it doomed. How the remaining bishops and Mystic had to kill Narinder and trap him in after life, the gateway being his tomb.
Shamura learned about the prophecy after a few centuries or more. That lead to the geno¢ide of sheep.
The gateway/tomb of Narinder before defeating bishops. 5 chains, gray ones belonging to bishops and golden one belonging to Mystic Seller.
A basic classification of the types of deities that we have in cotl:
Mystic Seller: Creator, above gods
Mystic Seller's guards: Deities that exist out time and space and work along Mystic Seller, above gods
Narinder: God of death
Shamura: God of war (formerly god of might)
Kallamar: God of pestilence (formerly health)
Heket: Goddess of famine (formerly abundance)
Leshy: God of chaos (formerly peace)
Aym: Disciple of Narinder, demigod (guider of sinners)
Baal: Disciple of Narinder, demigod (guider of winners)
Haro: Ex god, currently a messenger
Chemach: Eldritch Goddess, One of the oldest remaining Goddess. [She (yes Chemach is a girl) has an Eldritch crown and the crown has eyes. Just like the bishops'. This makes her a god considering her ability to turn living into power, essence and remnant to be used for something else afterwards. (relics)]
Clauneck and Kudaii: Gifted with immortality possibly by their sister, or are gods.
Midas: Golden touch asshole king
The fox: Most likely a demon/god from underworld, considering his soul deals and Haro's dialog.
Ratoo: I can't class him but considering he is living without a whole ass organ and still stays alive, he isn't mortal
Nah, it's just what I think of course also, please check my witness theory and Possession too!
If you want to add to this theory, you can by doing a reblog. I'm preparing a crown theory too, so this is kind of a part one! If this gets popular, I might make a video for it, who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Man, I cannot stop thinking about Chalothorn coming to save Tharn and listening to Tharn when he asked to not kill Montree (and u know it's serious cuz i'm using his actual name)
Like that is when Tharn understood what he had to do to break the curse isn't it? Like this is when he went from grieving having to leave and accepting it because he knew what he was going to do while he was gone and he didn't know if it was going to work but he was going to try like this is a man with determination right there, like he isn't only looking at Montee he also has a goal in mind
and I feel like talking about this process Tharn went through but also just going through the trio's "character descriptions" as in Chalothorn being a fighter (maybe not talk about Chalothorn in this specific post I want to give him a whole post for himself), Wansarut/Tharn being an healer/protector (mediator?) and Sakuna/Phaya being a fighter (somewhat a little bit of a protector Wansarut/Tharn kinda rubbed off of them akasghjsgajhad like literally) and also just talk about power levels and who would match who in a fight and how that affected Tharn's decision or something idk we will see
Disclaimer : pulling all of this completely out of my ass from watching the show but it makes sense to me, might not make sense to anybody else cuz these are just raw out-of-order thoughts
I think I'll put everything under a keep reading cuz I know We about to spend an hour on this cuz this is taking too much space in my brain and I got school assignments to do so we just gonna throw it up right now
WANSARUT
Let's start with the fact that Wansarut is a healer/protector (and a mediator of some sort maybe? idk) like from the get go you got Wansarut saving Sakuna and healing him, simply because Sakuna was still alive (ep 8)
Like they are enemies at that point??? and what if Sakuna decided to kill Wansarut when he got better? And you can see that Sakuna does not understand Wansarut's actions cuz like they are enemies! That is a big risk Wansarut took simply because he was still alive, because it's not in Wansarut's nature to just sit there and watch someone die, whether they are from the enemy side or not, and Wansarut tells Sakuna to leave as soon as he feels better too, because Sakuna is clearly in Naga territory and it's dangerous for him there, and Wansarut didn't ask anything in return until Sakuna proposed it, and what Wansarut asks is just so goddamn UUUGHHHRBSGUYAHFG [tv static noise]
I literally do not know how to describe it but like Wansarut has an entire Garuda that is the literal Garuda king's brother saying he will give Wansarut anything as a favor because Wansarut saved him and Wansarut asks for peace between their people??? That's why I was like Wansarut is kinda a mediator, also later Wansarut says this
Really showing even if Wansarut would be happy with Sakuna, this situationship they got going on, Sakuna's presence in these woods, could make the war both of their people are living worst, and Wansarut do not want to cause harm, it would go against Wansarut's healer/protector nature
Also random sidenote : the way Wansarut talks the human world and about that Naga legend of a Naga turned human that wanted to be a Monk, is such a benevolent and loving god way of talking, also the fact that Wansarut is showing this whole part of Naga culture (Naga offering and breathing fire to pay respect to Buddha, on the 15th nigh of the 11th waxing moon) to Sakuna an outsider??? a literal enemy of Wansarut's people???? mind fucking blowing if you ask me
THARN
Ok enough about boyprincess time to talk about babygirl Tharn and how Wansarut's healer/protector (mediator) nature translated to him
Let me start with the fact that Tharn almost never attacks anyone first, and is always ready to put his gun down, and literally never shoot if he doesn't have to, let's just take a look at how fast he put his gun down in ep 12 and the fact that he didn't just shoot Montee goon in the back which gave him the time to disarm Tharn
Also when he could have literally shoot Narong possessed by Chalothorn back in episode 5, the coast was clear Phaya was out of the way and Narong was attacking Phaya so he had "reasonable" reason to just shoot the guy, like hell they even made eye contact and Narong (Chalothorn) just fully ignored him cuz he knew Tharn was not gonna shoot and Tharn really just didn't shoot
And don't get me started on the fact that Tharn took that stab for Phaya i'll be here till next year like!!! All that was in his mind was protecting Phaya and if he get hurt doing it so be it, which is literally exactly what his past self did, they will protect what they love, whatever the cost
Like it almost doesn't make sense that Tharn is a cop in this lifetime because of his healer/protector nature, if they still were making him a first responder, it would have made more sense if Tharn was a paramedic or something, but because his parents were killed it and he had to get justice for them he was knocked off the typical healer/protector path slightly, but he was still doing his cop job like he was a healer/protector (which is what cops should be tbh. but that's another discussion), like i wouldn't be surprised if Tharn's other reincarnations were in the medical field in some ways (but again how do you tell this story if they aren't in the same field of work? that's another problem innit)
SAKUNA
Unfortunately I gotta stop talking about babygirl Tharn and talk about our resident bird
Sakuna is fighter first and foremost like there is no questioning that, but I think he is a level lower than Chalothorn, like Sakuna is a high ranking soldier, probably his brother's right hand man but both time Sakuna tried to fight Chalothorn he lost, first time he was hurt very badly and Wansarut had to heal him, second time cost him and Wansarut's life and that's how the cycle started
And it honestly doesn't look like he match Chalothorn's powers even in garuda form, I think the garuda that would match Chalothorn would be Sakuna's brother (ep 12), unfortunately Sakuna would never get to a level where he could win since he died, and just keep dying every reincarnation after that, and I assume he just keep dying before he reach his full powers
But anyways by the end of Sakuna's life he wasn't only a fighter, you can see he genuinely was worried and wanted to protect Wansarut and he didn't care for his brother's war all that much, he did fight but that was to prove his love
And that's kinda beautiful isn't it? that's the effect Wansarut has on people Wansarut is close to and that's honestly the most powerful talent, like more powerful than the actual magic Wansarut can do
PHAYA
Phaya bird man extraodinaire is yet again a fighter (soldier) in this life, quite literally in the investigation team, but you can see that he has leadership qualities real early on (ep 2)
He is honestly a natural leader and I'm sure Sakuna was too, but on the powers side, his garuda powers like dormant/just under the surface this whole series, the best we get are little sparkles (ep 5 + ep 12)
His best qualities : his sparkles
Sidenote : let me just mention how protective Phaya is of Tharn, guy put his whole body over Tharn when there is a blast near, he is always in front of Tharn when they are fighting, not just episode 12 but simply all the time, like both time we saw his sparkles were related to protecting Tharn in some ways, like this man has a very fighter way of being a protector
But anyways my little birdy you are doing amazing tweety and I love you, but like how is he supposed to fight this fucking thing with goddamn garuda sparkles????????????
Well the answer can only be that he was never supposed to fight it. Like let's think about this for a sec, every goddamn reincarnation before phayatharn died why do you think? well idk but I can at least say for certain Sakuna and Wansarut died because Sakuna chose to fight. Literally every goddamn time this shit has always gone down south and we can assume it is because they fought Chalothorn. Fighting was literally NEVER the answer, but they kept doing it and honestly isn't insanity doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results???? They've tried Sakuna and Chalothorn's way and the only thing it got them, is them both killed in all their past reincarnations and Chalothorn being honestly one reincarnation kill away from turning into a Naga forever
Also like sidenote : there is no sign of Tharn's Naga form, like what we got from Tharn are some somewhat powerful sparkles but you can't seriously tell me he can fight Chalothorn literal king of Nagas with that, like the sparkles were only there to protect Phaya, Tharn/Wansarut were never meant to be fighters (ep 5), like even with Phaya and Tharn's powers combined it wouldn't work tbh
Problem is, this whole situation with Tharn's parents dying and people Tharn love dying did make Tharn forget who he was, so much suffering and hurt and grief from a young age can change a soul, Tharn was looking for justice for his parents and frankly was kinda impulsive and reckless about it, and thats why the abbott's role in this show was so goddamn important, he was here to remind Tharn of who he is (the lion king simba and mufasa style REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE), and that is a healer, a protector and a mediator first and foremost, he even said this in episode 3 and he is right Kindness is Tharn's biggest weapon (and Phaya's btw because Sakuna's soul has changed a lot over the courses of reincarnations and he is such a sweetie, that is until Chalothorn walks into the room)
FINAL
bro where was I even going with this? Idk but back to Chalothorn listening to Tharn in episode 12, I think that's when Tharn got a declic as to what the abbott meant by all of his mediation and precepts stuff, Tharn understood then that first of all Chalothorn is not only a killer, the person he has known all these years that cares about him and his wellbeing is there, he literally came to Tharn's rescue twice, in ep 11 when Tharn was falling off the cliff and with Montee in episode 12, the problem is you cannot talk calmly to Chalothorn with Phaya in the room, it's just never going to end well, you put those 2 head strong (mostly) fighters in a room and all hell break lose and people literally die
So Tharn knew he had to leave, but this time, in contrary to the end of episode 11, he had a purpose, the purpose was to change Chalothorn's mind from the inside, because Chalothorn's has show signs of caring and kindness (again he probably got that from hanging out with Tharn tbh), but Tharn didn't know if that would work, he didn't know if he was going to be able to come back to Phaya, and that's why he was saying goodbye like that
That's why it felt like, contrary to episode 11, this goodbye from Tharn had an air of acceptance of his fate, because he knew it was his time to go and fight for his and Phaya's love, but this time he was going to do it his way, and that way is with kindness, love and empathy, like the healer/protector that he is
#the sign#the sign the series#phayatharn#i have no idea if any of this makes any sense but i'm exhausted so i'm going to bed#but what im saying is this story could have never been resolved by fighters#like they would have fought each other into complete destruction of their souls it would have never worked

You know, I feel like Pharma had the right idea about the rust plague. Oh there's a group of supersoldiers at the door who were handpicked by Megatron and specialize in torture threatening to kill everyone here? They're also complete powerhouses that can wipe out a ship of 200+ bots? Ok, but how well are they against a disease that slowly makes them fall apart? Can Tarn talk it away? Is Overlord immune to every illness? At that point I'd be willing to make a few sacrifices to find out, it's not like the alternate is any better.
Lost Light but-Pharma-is-there au where whenever they run into op enemies and everything seems hopeless, Pharma suggests making another plague. Megatron refusing to get off his ass to help fight off the consequences of his actions? Let me just use this little disease I've been cooking up for this exact scenario :)
Yeah I mean the problem is that Pharma was dealing with Tarn-- JUST TARN-- all by himself, and bringing in Ambulon and/or First Aid wouldn't have helped because they're not any better fighters than he is! If anything, getting them involved might've just gotten them all killed since First Aid would probably try to call for help and Ambulon... well, on the alt Lost Light, the DJD didn't care about going in List order and just killed all three of their targets plus everyone around them besides, so who's to say seeing Ambulon wouldn't have just made Tarn kill them all immediately, blackmail deal and List order be damned?
Pharma stands no chance against just Tarn, much less all of the DJD together, based on physical prowess alone. Even if he somehow managed to kill Tarn by himself, there's the whole rest of the DJD to cope with too.
With the rust plague, there's basically two options:
The request to evacuate is honored and Prowl pulls them out of Delphi, saving everyone bar a few who die to the red rust. Maybe if they're lucky, some pieces of Delphi are still infested with disease particles and the DJD get infected when they come looking for Pharma.
The worst option, Tarn/the DJD come to collect, rampage through Delphi and kill anyone they find, but get infected in the process (likely Kaon, Vos, and Tarn first, since they need to transform to fight or torture, and Tarn has his addiction). A shitload of people at Delphi die, but the DJD are infected and die either immediately or eventually.
But like, if Pharma didn't use the red rust, his only options would've been to try and beat the DJD head on (literally impossible) or ask for an evac on his own (the DJD can cut off those signals and hunt you down anyways) or just keep harvesting t-cogs (nothing gets better and Pharma keeps having to kill people).
So like, fucking genuinely what exactly was Pharma meant to do in this situation? Yeah it's easy to go "he could've found a solution that didn't kill anyone" but bro was literally under a blackmail deal delivered by Tarn himself in the flesh FOR AT LEAST TWO WHOLE YEARS STRAIGHT like yeah I think under psychological and moral torment that intense for that long, feeling like escape is completely impossible and will be punished with death, I too would go nuclear and pick an incredibly violent/messy solution if I saw it as my last resort to get out (kind of) unscathed and not being blamed for my own torture and suffering.
Also, re: that last paragraph, honestly all I could think of was this meme:
But also fun fact, I actually do want to write some variety of a "Pharma lives" AU in which he actually gets to live his dreams of slaughtering Tarn and the DJD like diseased animals, so... stay tuned. Eventually.
#squiggle answers#pharma apologism#pharma has literally done nothing that wasn't eclipsed by the actions of other ppl who were accepted in the autobots

My danganronpa v3 chapter 6 running commentary:
"MY NAME IS MAKOTO??????"
excuse me you black-haired bitch you're not makoto naegi
bro what the HELL was going on in that cutscene i'm so confused
"if my actions result in your deaths so be it" nah there's something wrong here, that doesn't sound like that keebo i know
keebo's protecting us he's stalling keebo i love you i love you so much
guys i gotta level up my FRIENDSHIP POINTS to move ROCKS
ah shit fam we finally found kokichi's lab. it looks like a door from fallout in a literal tunnel underground lol
kokichi wants to be a batman villain so bad
is kokichi actually the ultimate improv comedian or something what is this
what is the "inconsistency" in the hope's peak academy book that shuichi pointed out but won't tell me? come on now don't leave me hanging. is it that makoto established the academy for normies actually? or is it something to do with the secret DR2 killing game?
i'm not wrong about either of those facts, am i? am i misremembering? didn't makoto say in i think the anime that he wanted to establish the new hope's peak for everyone and not just ultimates? and weren't the events of jabberwock island kept a secret from the general public? the fact that he was trying to rehab the remnants of despair in the neo world program was supposed to be a secret, right? to protect them?? am i wrong about that??
that flashback light only had me more confused
woah you can go outside and watch an action sequence of keebo fighting an exisal that's fucking sick
kokichi has the wax figure of rantaro?? just strung up by his bed?? what the????
oh THAT'S where the caged child document went!
so he really WAS the leader of the ultimate improv comedy group
i bet they do flash mobs
i think a more accurate title for him would be "ultimate little shit"
obsessed with the whiteboard in his room with all our pictures on it. he wrote who murdered whom, then wrote "suspicious" by maki, "weird" by keebo, "trustworthy?" by me, and "annoying" by the monokubs lol
REAL makoto naegi??? in the flashback flesh???
hell yeah we're FINALLY going to rantaro's lab!
...now that i'm in here i instantly regret it i don't like it in here
how did kokichi know about the vaults in rantaro's lab early enough to leave those notes? did HE even leave those notes? and WHY do the vaults have a monokuma USB in them?
is it gonna have that message from rantaro that we saw in a cutscene earlier?
ha i knew it
ultimate survivor? maybe himiko wasn't joking when she said maybe he went on a bunch of game shows lol. get this man to CBS
"i never imagined rantaro the first victim would come up again like this" i mean, *i* could! at least i was hoping. there were way too many unanswered questions about him
the voice of one of these unnamed classmates in this flashback sounds SUSPICIOUSLY like bryce papenbrook. i've learned never to take his presence lightly in these games
cold sleep room?!
aw hey the whole gang back together in the flashback! man it's been awhile since i've seen some of these people
i'm sorry, kaede has a TWIN??????
bro this game actually game overed me because i spent too much time clicking on people to talk to. I WAS TRYING TO BE THOROUGH IN MY INVESTIGATION!!!!!!! i didn't think it would do that to me, i just thought the time limit would be done once i'd completed everything. ffs
...motherkuma?
oh the mastermind just be making flashback lights to include whatever memories they choose? so yeah they all have to be COMPLETE crap
if himiko suddenly reappeared and is once again being super unhelpful about how she escaped the sealed hidden room, i'm guessing that means there's another door to that room
oh shit fam a hidden passage in the girl's bathroom? hm
hey they repaired keebo's ahoge! which was the key to his inner voice clearly
ha i knew those "small bugs" were actually cameras of a sort
"i'll hit them with my 'all your relationships will end up being love triangles' curse!" damn himiko that's cold. i feel like a remnant of despair would enjoy that tho
you know, if you'd asked me to predict who my final group would be, i NEVER would have guessed himiko and tsumugi. maki absolutely, keebo maybe, but never those two. this is such an odd grouping to be the final one
wait how the fuck do you know about jabberwock island, shuichi? or was that less secret than i thought?
i need to know more about this "previous game" rantaro survived
god how i fucking WISH rantaro was the ultimate game show host that would be so funny
your honor my girlfriend kaede was innocent!!!!!!!
are you telling me that the throwaway joke the game grumps made about the shot put ball landing right next to rantaro and not actually hitting him is what ACTUALLY happened???
i knew everyone kind of brushing off that tsumugi went to the bathroom back in chapter 1 was odd
we're doing a closing argument now? we haven't even hit intermission. i assume part 2 of this trial is just gonna be off the rails then
they're literally all begging tsumugi to tell them she's not the mastermind but she can't do it
dude if kokichi were here he would be tearing her apart verbally
junko the 53rd?! new ultimate despair?
is tsumugi just doing a REALLY effective cosplay rn?
they all keep trying to tell me that kokichi was a remnant of despair but i don't believe he was
don't tell me that makoto went back on his promise to have hope's peak be for normies
i like to believe that toko wrote this book
yeah i knew all those memories were fake as shit. we're in like a hunger games arena i'm calling it now
lol they weren't even hope's peak students? i'm willing to be they're not even ultimates at all, and not a single one of their backstories is real
i like to imagine everyone who's died so far is watching this from another room like everyone eliminated from a season of the bachelor or survivor watching the finale episode
the ONLY piece of evidence leading me to believe anything told to us might've been even remotely real is kaito's strange illness. other than that, i'm fairly certain every single thing told to us about the backstory and the outside world is fake. i bet there is no gofer project, there were no meteorites, there is no disease
what the- HAJIME?????
mahiru? okay this is starting to get a little batshit. felt some whiplash when she turned into hiro and then soda
hey don't you DARE turn into makoto naegi that feels disrespectful
bro does this take place in a different universe from the other two games???
this is getting way too meta
i have no idea where this goes from here if this isn't in the same universe as the other games
wait are we actually in a time loop of sorts, like i'd predicted awhile back?
oh dude i just noticed there are little "V"s and "3"s in the eyes when tsumugi is cosplaying
is this girl really blaming her actions on ~society~?
bro this is getting WAY too meta. like, past the point of being fun
shuichi just shouting at them to shut up is my mood rn
is this a roundabout way of saying they're all quote-unquote actors?
damn even that illness was fake huh
bro not her actually becoming soda to make the tenko comparison 😂
guys i'm not really sure what to make of this. idk where to go from here
like i genuinely feel like a bucket of cold water was just poured on me. like. what the fuck is this
guys i'm gonna be real: this fucking sucks. i've never been a fan of "it was a dream this whole time and none of it mattered or was real" storylines. it's lazy writing. and i really feel it here
bro i got the BAD END??
...or maybe not?
oh my god is keebo gonna be my actual savior??
i knew keebo was the only bitch around here i could trust
hang on am i playing as keebo now?? it's my dream. he had an ahoge for a reason! the TRUE true protagonist! this game is starting to redeem itself
lol of course that was an antenna. and he was basically the first person camera for the audience? interesting
you know this means in the final chapter the audience wasn't watching the rest of us running around finding clues for the situation, they were watching keebo fight exisals lol
ULTIMATE HOPE ROBOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
there's always an ultimate hope at the end of these. and it's very interesting that unlike the other games, they didn't have it be the character i was controlling for a majority of the game. and tbh i think that was the correct choice. shuichi you're great and your heart's in the right place but you're not the ultimate hope lol
oh this is now a battle to save keebo's life???????? oh i am putting my ALL into this
the fuck kind of rules are these? even if we win we gotta sacrifice two of us? huh?
speaking of, what happened to the 11 other people in this game? are they actually dead? or not? that feels very unclear now
i gotta fight shuichi in verbal sword battle? i gotta fight essentially myself?
i was never good at the sword minigames i could never figure out the best way to control it
oh man that poor boy is just so clinically depressed
and the fact that we had that sword fight to clair de lune...oh man
shuichi i am unsure about this logic of yours
oh am i shuichi again now?
yes shuichi we stan a weak king
tsumugi don't you dare talk as makoto you're making a mockery of everything he stood for
wait now i get to be himiko too? i better get a turn as maki by the end of this
oh thank god i do
thank goodness i didn't enable the "more time" skill
did they fry keebo?????????? unforgiveable unforgiveable UNFORGIVEABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh my god they took him over i hate this. let me go back to playing as keebo again
THEY ERASED HIS PERSONALITY??????? i'm never forgiving this game. this last chapter is like the finale of how i met your mother
at least he came back to say goodbye 😭
I CAN'T BELIEVE I GOT THIS FAR AND THEY FUCKING TOOK KEEBO FROM ME NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
can't believe i had to fight keebo and not tsumugi in the final battle
"we're friends, aren't we?" oh shut the fuck UP, tsumugi
no votes? thanks keebs
keebo fucking razing the place to the ground and executing everyone else in the process was NOT how i expected this game to end
oh shit they pulled a fast one on me with this epilogue - shuichi and maki and himiko lived?!? damn
they've made it unclear whether or not this is ACTUALLY in the same world as makoto and friends ughhh
i hate that they ripped keebo from me at the last second. they erased his personality and made him self-destruct. he was the hero but at what cost. this is a personal betrayal
could they rebuild him? maybe? all i want is a reunion with keebo and the survivors (VERY small survivor pool this time btw)
i'm going to be thinking about keebo nonstop for days fyi
guys, i gotta be real with you. this was the most unsatisfying horseshit. it felt like nothing mattered, and honestly it felt like they were making a mockery of us for enjoying the previous games and content. i didn't like it. and honestly it felt...lazy? like i had been speculating so much about how this would connect with the rest of the danganronpa plot and how this would build upon the already established story and characters. like you should've seen the theories i had in my head (one of my best ones: tsumugi was a rogue hope's peak student who idolized junko and wanted to do a killing game in her honor. keebo was a plant from makoto and the future foundation/academy to guide the others and eventually help lead to their rescue - that would've been a great plotline tbh). but no, none of that happened, it didn't build on the story, it didn't add to it, it wasn't part of the same story. it was just............nothing. it didn't lead anywhere, it didn't build up to anything. it just went nowhere and did nothing, it wasn't connected. it felt like all the investigating i did to find out the truth was a waste of time, and all the plot twists and turns that happened and all the choices the characters made had no fucking payoff. it was so frustrating. there are so many creative choices they could've made to build on the story in the danganronpa world but...that meta bullshit was not it.
in other news, i have already started writing a fanfiction: an alternate version of v3 that actually takes place in-universe, therefore making all the games connected! and i think what i've thought up is pretty good, ngl. it might be related to that theory i mentioned above. if you're interested in reading, lmk and i'll work to write it faster!
and thus officially concludes my v3 gameplay commentary! i might post here and there about my experiences in the bonus modes as i do them
