“Your Grace, with all due respect… THIS ISN’T FAIR AT ALL!”

“I understand what you’re saying Venti but I can’t bring all 20-something of you outside… 8 people is already too much! An average friend group has around 3-4 people and I’m bringing double that! I promise I’ll take the rest of you out some other day.”

Hearing consecutive sighs of disappointment, you turn to look at the rest of the men. They were visibly upset. It’s not that you DON’T want to bring them all outside! Really! It’s just that some… or, most, of them have features that would stand out in a public setting. Take Gorou and Tighnari for example! Their ears could maybe be hidden for some minutes at a time using a hood or beanie, but what about their tails? Not to mention ITTO. He literally has the most red, obvious horns.

You did your best to make them look somewhat normal. Kaveh and Wanderer could pass as a normal citizen if you removed some accessories, but characters like Diluc and Neuvillette couldn’t. So it was up to you to dress them up! Yayyy!!!

No. This was NOT an easy job. Diluc’s bright red hair couldn’t be hidden no matter how hard you tried. Neuvillette’s long hair could maybe pass as normal... maybe. His horns though? I guess you’ll have to go with the “Oh! Why are they dressed like that? Well you see, my friends just left a cosplay convention a while ago. They look cool right? Yeah.” Excuse.

You gave them what you had left in your closet. What did fit them were sweats, loose pants, pajamas and some old shirts. It was odd not seeing them in their usual complex and pretty outfits. The buffer and more muscular characters looked (not surprisingly) attractive in your shirts… they were tight just around the right spots. They noticed your eyes in their direction with your face ever so slightly flushed, but decided to not say anything about it. ( THEY KNOW.)

With the boys dressed up and ready, it was finally time to head out! The people you brought with you were: Neuvillette, Wriothesley, Kaeya, Diluc, Childe, Kaveh, Xiao and Al Haitham.

Xiao insisted on being the one to “protect you”. Denying his request felt awkward for some reason…

Kaveh had been interested in the simple and strangely large buildings cramped next to each other. You wouldn’t be so mean to deny his request to go see some of them in person right?

Al Haitham was interested about your world and wanted to learn more about it, maybe he’d find some books that weren’t all fiction and romance.

You’d feel bad if you only brought one Ragnvindr brother.. so you brought both. You also didn’t want to hear Kaeya bickering with Diluc about him going out on a “date” (it wasn’t.) with the Creator.

Neuvillette and Wriothesley look a bit intimidating so maybe they’d scare people off. Who would’ve known you’d have two scary looking men protecting and looking after you?

And Childe….. well he’s Childe. He was stuck to your hip.

You didn’t really know where to go.. The park? A restaurant? A supermarket? All of these options were a bit difficult since they’re usually filled with people. Of course, no matter where you go there’s likely to be people, but it’d be easier to not have to be completely and utterly aware of every stranger around you in fear that they might find out who the men you brought with you actually are. Your only option was to ask them if they had an idea or if they wanted to visit an area.

“Oh! Can we go to one of those food places you’ve talked about before? What is it called.. uh.. curly… curly fries..?”

“Jack in the Box. The name is Jack in the Box, Childe.” Wriothesley remembers every little thing you talked to yourself about when the only way they were able to feel you was through a screen. All of them would listen to you talk about a movie you watched, something funny that happened, or gossip that was spreading around your school or workplace. Anything.

You let out a small chuckle at their conversation. Their recommendation isn’t bad you think. All they’ve been eating is whatever you had back at home, since ordering takeout for more than 20 people would be wayyyyy too expensive.

So a fast food restaurant it is!

The walk there was…. tedious. Childe was trying his best to not wander off, he really was! But there was so many new things he’d never seen before, so it’s not his fault. Neuvillette was probably the calmest out of everyone. He was right by your side following your lead. Maybe holding onto your arm once or twice.. on accident! (it wasn’t) Xiao was observing his surroundings a little too hard.. yeah this is all new to him, but I guess he was serious about protecting you. Though you didn’t really need it with 7 tall men around you.

“Mortals… The need for human interaction is what makes them weak.”

Diluc and Kaeya would not SHUT UP. If you passed by a bar, Kaeya would ask if he could go in, just for a second! He just wants to see how different they are from the ones in Mondstadt, really. Diluc would follow up with “You’re no better than that… that drunkard Venti.”

Kaveh would stop mid-street to look at the buildings...

“These buildings are so… long. How do they hold up so much weight? It’s impressive! What would they need so many floors for though… Why is there a man’s face as the logo in that restaurant? Oh! He’s glowing?”

“If you get ran over by one of those vehicles it’ll be your fault.”

“Huh? Al Haitham! YOUR GRACE! Wait for me!”

The next problem was choosing what to eat. Ordering food for 8 people, not including yourself, was expensive. You knew that! But you didn’t mentally prepare for the bill.

“Oh god…”

“Your Grace? Is something wrong?”

“It’s nothing you need to worry about. Eat up! We can go somewhere else after this if you want.”

You had realized that a woman had passed by your table countless times. She was very obviously staring at the men, looking almost flustered? Oh, she must think they’re attractive.

……

SHE THINKS THEYRE ATTRACTIVE??!

Okay. Thats okay. As long as she doesn’t ask for their numb—

“Uh-uhm.. excuse me, sir. Can I have your number? Or.. just Instagram is fine too.” She was staring directly at Wriothesley. You should’ve known letting him go out in a tight shirt and loose pants would’ve attracted more people.

“Uhh.. Pardon me, ma’am. Number…? As in… prisoner number..?” The Duke had an obvious confused and conflicted look on his face.

“Huh?”

“Aha.. ha… forgive him. He’s taken! So he can’t give out his number to just anyone.”

“Oh.. S-sorry. Forgive me I’ll just— I’ll get going.“ She was very obviously embarrassed over this whole ordeal.

“What did she mean by number, your grace?”

“Don’t… don’t worry about it…”

The group of men began to eat. (Neuvillette ordered a cup of iced water and Xiao didn’t eat anything.)

“Your Grace, there’s some food on the corner of your mouth.. Here. Let me help.” As Kaeya was about to reach his hand and wipe off the food with his thumb, there was thud on the window next to your table. Huh? It’s Itto.

It’s Itto?

“WHAT THE HELL. HOW DID HE GET HERE!?” You whispered screamed as turned to Itto. Did he follow you here? Was he here this whole time????

Through the glass Itto was saying something. His voice was muffled but you could make some things out.

“Your Grace! Don’t let this… this BUFFOON touch you! I, Arataki Itto will volunteer instead!”

You let out a loud sigh. You had to go get him… imagine seeing a tall, buff man with white hair and what looks like horns with a black hoodie up against a restaurants window…

Yeah that looks weird from an outsiders view.

You signal to the rest of the men to follow you out. When you got outside you wanted to tell Itto to never do something like that again… but he looked so sad, almost like a kicked puppy.

“Sorry Your Grace… I just wanted to accompany you! I might have gotten a teenyyy tinyyyy bit distracted on the way. You never told me there was so many cool lookin’ beetles in your world! There was one that that was very small and red with black spots, probably not useful for beetle fighting though. And I also saw some… uh.. not to disrespect anyone but there was a really weird lookin’ dog..”

SIGHHHHHH. You started to wonder what would have happened if he really had gotten lost, or what if someone recognized him? The thought of losing one of the men scared you. Would you be to blame if one of them never made it back to Teyvat?

“Itto… I love you and everything, but never do something like this again. What if we never found you? What would have happened then? I think we should head back home..”

Itto was on the verge of tears. He’s had more beans thrown at him than he could count, but nothing ever hurt as much as this.

It took Itto a while to process that you had also said you loved him.

“M’ bad Your Grace.. I won’t follow you next time… but, I love you too Your Grace!!”

The men turned to him SO FAST?? Xiao was about to take his spear out, Al Haitham looked DISGUSTED. Kaveh and Childe’s jaws were wide OPEN.

“DUDE YOU CAN’T JUST SAY THAT!”

“Childe’s right, we all love Our Grace, not just you.” Diluc only said this because he wanted to be the one to say “I love you”, but you didn’t need to know that. If it was for anything else he would never agree with a harbinger.

“That doesn’t even make sense! Why can’t I love and appreciate our beloved Creator? You guys are all just mad that I, the Number One Oni, Arataki Itto, am Your Grace’s FAVORITE.”

“WHAT? NO! Your Grace is that true?”

How many sighs have you let out today? This must be a full time job because you just let out another sigh.

“No, it’s not. I love all of you equally! Don’t start any problems with each other in public, please… We should be heading home anyways. Look at the sky, the sun will set soon.”

Almost in synch, the men respond “Yes, Your Grace!”

Seeing them like this made you feel all happy and giddy… It was nice seeing them together with you in the picture. You smiled at them and they just stared. They waited for you to turn around before looking at each other almost competitively. It was clear that each and every one of them wanted you for themselves in some way.

It was finally time to head home!!! After one long and exhausting day, you finally made it back.

The rest of the men were waiting patiently for you (Venti, Wanderer, Lyney and Heizou had to be held back by Albedo, Dainsleif and Pierro.)

“*SNIFF* AUGH.. YOUR GRACE! *SNIFF* WE MISSED YOU SO MUCH!”

“Hi, Venti… I missed you all too..” Venti’s arms were wrapped tightly around you, while he cried onto your shoulder.

“Your Grace, you’re here!” Thoma looked.. tired. Just what happened while you were gone? You decided to ask just incase.

“Hi Thoma, and everyone else. Did anything happen while me and the others were gone?” You had a gut feeling that something happened… they were unusually quiet… too quiet.

“A fight broke out between The Puppet and Cyno.”

“WHAT??”

there are so many more ways for characters to care for eachother outside of romance. there are so many interesting character arcs and stories to explore in these shows that are NOT ROMANCE CENTERED. please. just try at least for a few minutes. do something with your favorite show without any romantic shipping. try to analyze the story arcs, the themes, hell, even relationships without using the words "yaoi/yuri" just once. some of you people act like it'd kill you. once again i say this as an aro who is so so incredibly sappy for fictional romance of all kinds, even i have my limits.

and don't think i don't notice how common y'all only give aspec headcanons to the characters you really don't care about, or only give them to either the "cold unfeeling" or straight up infantilized characters. in 2025 no less?? i cant even imagine how y'all treat any canon aro characters.

Welcome to canonically plural. 

This is a blog that is dedicated to your favorite characters who are canonically plural in some way. 

Defining plurality 

When I say canonically plural, what I mean is that the characters are depicted with multiple self-conscious agents of some kind sharing a single body.

It should also be long-term rather than characters who just share a body for a few moments. This time limit is relative. If a character is plural for all of their existence, but only exists for a couple hours, they've been plural their whole life. For characters with normal lifespans, I would say their plurality needs to be demonstrated to exist at least over a period of multiple days. But discretion is allowed.

This can take many forms. Venom from Spider-Man has a form of biological plurality where the alien symbiote fuses with a host. Blue Beetle is technological plurality. Moon Knight is both psychological and spiritual.

The Checklist

By my criteria, a character is canonically plural if...

The character has multiple agents in their mind/body. ✅

These agents share a body for a decent length of time. ✅

These other agents possess at least some rudimentary level of self-awareness and memory, and could reflect on past events. ✅

You used your best judgement and the submission is in good faith. ✅

If the above criteria are met in canon, the character is canonically plural!

The Good Faith Rule: On the last criterion, note that I won't be researching a lot of these before posting. So please be reasonable and remember the goal of the blog is introducing people to plural characters in different media. I realize that maybe something like the Power Rangers spending a few days in a Megazord can technically fulfill the criteria of multiple people sharing a body if you stretch it enough. So please don't go on a mission to find loopholes to the criteria.

Nothing is metaphorical 

Assume for the sake of this that unless something is explicitly stated to be metaphor in the work, it is literally happening within the context of the narrative. 

Perhaps the writers of Inside Out wrote the emotions as a metaphor for the emotions of singlets. But within the Inside Out universe, the emotions are actual distinct characters with their own distinct personalities. They have their own memories, their own wants and desires, their own agency. Within the fiction of the Inside Out universe, people are just naturally plural through these self-conscious emotions in their head.

All the characters in Inside Out are canonically plural. 

Canonically plural character guidelines

When submitting a character that is canonically plural, please include a description of why you think that they are plural. There's no maximum length but at least a few sentences would be ideal. It doesn't need to be a huge essay. But it at least needs to convey what is plural about the characters.

Please state both the name of the character or characters who are plural, as well as the piece of media they originate from.

Ideally, submissions should use the following template:

[Character Name(s)] from [media name] is canonically plural. [Description of their plurality.]

For example...

Pearl from Steven Universe is canonically plural. In one episode, Steven enters into Pearl's mind through her gem. Inside, she has a layered inner world, each with its own compartmentalized version of her. Each Pearl has its own memories and there are even dissociative barriers between the inner Pearls, where some are just not aware of what other Pearls are doing. There's the main Pearl with control of the body on the outside. There's a Pearl on the surface level of her mind responsible for organizing thing and keeping them neat. And then each layer beneath that holds a different trauma Pearl suffered from her past. One Pearl holds onto the death of the person she loved. And another from her trauma over the deaths of her friends in the war. And another holds onto a trauma from losing who she used to be.

Fanfiction Contributions Guidelines

For those looking to share fanfics, formatting is slightly different!

[Character Name] from [fanfiction name], a(n) [original media name] fanfiction is canonically plural. [Description of their plurality.] [Link to the fanfiction]

The link and the media name help make it easier to locate the fanfic and share fan works about plurality with others. It also helps me what tags to use for the post. Additionally, you can optionally post links to FREE original fiction such as free webcomics or stories that involve plurality.

Abstract ART

A Murderbot Meta Essay

My favorite thing about fandom is seeing how everyone interprets the same source material. And as someone who's most into character design, it’s so fun seeing how different artists draw the same character, even when said character already has a very clear canon design. What elements do artists leave behind as just part of the official art style and which parts do they interpret as core parts of the character's design? Where there's ambiguity, what do they add? How does each person depict “wide sunny eyes” or “quite tall for an elf”?

And with The Murderbot Diaries, characters are given very little physical descriptions, even for a book series. Even with the official illustrations and out-of-text author statements (which I choose to put into an optionally canon status; it's the TLK fan in me) we're working with relatively little in terms of what the characters look like. And that makes Murderbot fanart so fun for me.

And maybe one day I'll gush about the designs of the other characters, but you saw the title, and I'm here to talk about the most fascinating fanon character design trend I've thus seen: Abstract ART/Perihelion.

ART is a spaceship. Ok, it's also sometimes drones. The way ART functions, out of any character in the series, the argument that its true form is merely the physical stuff composing its brain is the most founded. And Murderbot does sometimes make specific reference to ART's brain as being what ART specifically is. But without getting too far into a philosophical discussion on the relationship between the mind and the physical world and what constitutes the self, ART is largely presented to us as a really large ship that can easily connect with other tech. Murderbot does frequently describe it acting in ways similar to a being with a more human body like rolling its eyes and breathing over Murderbot’s shoulder, but it's all clearly metaphor. And that works for a word-only medium.

But what if you want to create an image of these characters, especially one that had little to no accompanying text or audio or only words in dialogue? What if you want to draw the giant spaceship that all of the puny humans (and puny human/bot constructs) walk around in actually rolling its eyes?

Well, you abstract it.

And that's really fascinating to me. People depict ART as all these things that are definitely not a spaceship or a drone or any machine for the benefit of the viewers.

Given that this is largely a fan invention, there's far fewer restrictions on what Abstract ART looks like. (Well this is fiction, so really the only restriction is the imagination of the creator(s).) We do get some information to use as a guideline. ART early on is described as “big and diffuse”, it's able to give a lot of focus to a lot of things at once, and most of Ship ART (Murderbot, why'd you have to nickname your mutual administrative assistant that?) and its crew uniforms are dark blue, black, and white. Those few things as well as its personality paint how people draw it.

Now onto my favorite part, all of the different trends I've seen with Abstract ART. I've not delved that deep into MB fanart so this is very far from comprehensive.

It’s Just Ship ART:

Just keeping it to what it literally is in the books. I love all Abstract ARTs, but this one I like both for how closely it sticks to canon and the sheer creativity needed to show a sentient spaceship/transport emoting, thinking, and interacting. We already have stuff like this in the books, like when it flickered the bathroom lights to communicate with a certain angry secunit, but there's tons more that can be done: movement of the cameras, images on display devices, various appliances running, etc.. It’s a tough one to work with, so props to anyone who takes this approach.

Abstract Abstract ART Art (Yeah, my brain hurts too):

I'm kinda just lumping every version here that isn't ART's physical form(s) nor resembles a human or other animal. This is my favorite take because ART is just weird already. It's a super intelligent, scary machine whose existence is kept secret so it can fight capitalism while simultaneously doing a hundred other things ten times better than you can. If you're going to give it a form separate from its machine body/bodies, I say make it strange, eldrichian even. Make it a bunch of pixels, a starfield, a giant flame, many many eyes (oh I'll get to the eyes), a glowing sofa, everything everywhere all at once.

Creature ART:

I find this take interesting just cause there's a lot of fun to be had with picking an animal (or animals or fantastical critters) and applying their attributes and stereotypes to our favorite anti-corporate research vessel. Plus they work well in representing both ART'S human-like attributes and its very much not human-like attributes, with fantastical or hybrid versions having a more eldritch or cryptid vibe. While you could go with any animal, off the top of my head the ones that feel real fitting are an octopus (high intelligence that evolved separately from humans, multiple limbs for doing multiple things), a hydra (multiple heads, multiple areas of focus), a blue whale (giant, fits ART'S colors, rare, travels far), or really any bird (it's a spaceship).

Humanoid ART:

Probably my least favorite interpretation (all interpretations are valid, don't listen to me) just cause I feel more could be done to highlight that ART is, well, a bot and not at all human. However, I do get it. If you're going to give ART a form for the benefit of the audience, might as well make it look like what most audience members would have the easiest time reading the emotions and actions of (and it's not like ART doesn't have human-like qualities). Plus, you can still get weird with it: have this form change shape, give it unnatural proportions, make it a clearly non-human color, etc. And there are things the human form can do that a cat or a circle or a literal ship can't and maybe you want ART to do those things.

Eyes:

It’s very common to give ART eyes, or even just have ART be mostly eyes. For one, it gives it easily readable emotions, even if it lacks other facial features or means of making human gestures. Secondly, eyes work really well with ART's abilities and personality. ART can focus on multiple things at once. ART can be very scary and overbearing. It even works with ART's gentler side, if given the right expression.

Color:

ART is already associated with the colors dark blue and black (and to a lesser extent white) in canon. Like Ship ART is literally blue, at least parts of it are. And because of this, I have yet to encounter an Abstract ART that isn't at least 80% blue. (Fun fact: I used to associate ART with the color orange. Can you guess why?) Interestingly though, a large number of artists go with a powder blue or turquoise/azure for ART. I do not mean to be a color snob; please classify colors however. I just find this to be a particularly fascinating trend, cause most English speakers would classify those shades as light blue or at least not dark blue. I wonder if this has anything to do with the light/turquoise blue = high tech association. Now that I’m writing this out, I’m curious what color terms are used in translations of TMBD. Looking at you Russian version.

Diegesis:

Ok, so, final point: how real in-universe is Abstract ART? I hypothesized that the reason for this trend is to make ART easier to portray in images for viewers, but I wonder what in-universe explanation people have for this, if any. In most fanart, other characters (or at least Murderbot) interact with Abstract ART as if it is actually there or at least visible. I go with the headcanon that only other machines and some augmented humans can see its abstract form. This does stretch if not completely contradict canon, but fuck it, this is fiction and we get to have fun with it.

This series is one that ifykyk. It's a dark, dramatic, sexy mlm series set in a pseudo historic age and WOW. If it was a fic it'd come with tons of warnings and tags, but there's also an underlying softness between the main characters. Lots of angst and drama and characters you can't help root for. DEFINITELY an 18+ rec so please proceed accordingly.

Johann: Vampire Mates: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ 🍭🍭🍭🍭🍭

I already rec'd one of the books in this series here, but this one is tied for my favorite. A modern soulmate/vampire au that's got humor, the CUTEST cinnamon roll who's inexperienced (and hundreds of years old), a russian mobster, and just enough angst to make me you ache.

Boystown Heartbreakers: 🌶️🌶️ 🍭🍭🍭

If you're a wolfstar fan, then you'll absolutely adore this friends-to-lovers modern story about a hairstylist who is so worried about dating his DROP DEAD GORGEOUS best friend. All the internal turmoil paired with a book boyfriend you'll absolutely love, and lines that actually had me laughing out loud makes this one of my top reads for the year.

The Charm Offensive: 🌶️🌶️ 🍭🍭🍭

This one totally surprised me with how well it dealth with mental health issues in the middle of a VERY charming story about falling in love with someone (when it's literally your job to help them fall in love with someone else). A bi-awakening and oblivious pining gem. If you want more fics that feature a reality show check out this rec list.

Myles Below Freezing: 🍭🍭🍭🍭🍭

Okay can someone alert the Hazelnoot server? Because this one feels like a cross between Solntse and Sweater Weather. Myles (a cinnamon roll, nerdy Remus IMO) has to solve a murder mystery at the South Pole while trying not to fall for the sweetheart Russian Alexei. The banter is incredible and honestly my friends and I need a second book about the lesbians in it. Forced proximity, oblivious DATING, anxiety rep, action and chase scenes, cuddling, and locked-in together all in one.

Sapphire Sunset: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ 🍭🍭🍭

If you don't know Chris Rice, he's the gay son of Anne Rice (author of Interview With A Vampire) and thank god he's followed in her footsteps because his romance books are SO good and intense and yet fluffy? It's a ton of drama about an ex-marine and a hotel heir and a family scandal for the books. Feels delightfully like an age-gap modern Drarry book.

Lightning Born: 🌶️ 🍭

A friend recommended me this Frankenstein mlm retelling, and I was like "ew, no". However, I was completely surprised by how much heart it had, and how much it reminded me of R/S. Amnesia (due to ya know, dying), forbidden love, some serious angst, and thankfully a HEA that includes lesbians getting to live out in the tropics.

Honey Girl: 🌶️🌶️ 🍭🍭🍭

This is the only book on the list with wlw as the main pairing and by god, it's beautiful. The writing style gripped me on the first page and I've been recommending it to everyone since I've read it. Imagine waking up in a hotel room in Vegas, by yourself, with a wedding band on your finger and a note. The whole book feels like an intimate love letter and it should absolutely be on your TBR.

On Writing

No spice or sweetness in this non-fiction book, because it's a book by Stephen King on writing. Whenever I talk to anyone who's struggling with their craft I always recommend this book. It's short, to the point, and will leave you feeling much more confident in your abilities while helping you improve your writing. 10/10.

Chigiri Hyoma -> I'm sorry but this man is no good with emotions, though his face says it all when he jealous, of really anything -> He will side eye things until you figure out that he's feeling jealous or anything, but then again even when you ask him he'll brush it off like it was nothing -> But he really can't stand to see you gush all about this character who you love ever so much, I mean your walls are more decorated with things of this character then they are of pictures of the two of you!! -> May or May not actually attempt to act like them, but if you ever call him out on it he'll say he wasn't and that it was just an "off day" -> But going back to the fact that he's hella jealous. I mean he's a whole man right here, who can actually hold and touch you and yet you choose to be in love with something that can't even see you?! -> He will hella judge you tho, like why talk about how much you wanna kiss that character when he's literally right here and has been pleading for kisses (with his facial expressions) Nagi Seishiro -> He kinda understands I mean he's most likely had characters that he's liked from his video games, but def not as much as you do -> He'll give you the weirdest looks from where ever he was sitting, even bothering to look up from his game to question what the hell your even talking about -> Does get a little pouty when you gush about how much you wanna cuddle and squeeze the daylights out of your fav characters, I mean he's right there and he wants you to cuddle him -> Will express the fact he thinks your a little delulu and you should really just focus on the fact you have a real person that loves you, instead of trying to get somebody who's not even in your universe Bachira Meguru -> Pouty #2, but at least he'll tell you straight up that he wants your attention -> Has def thrown your phone away from you just to get your attention, I mean phones are replaceable, he's not -> Also Groans repeatedly when you talk about your character and how much you love them, can't you use all that love on him instead?? -> Every once in a while he will be nice though and when he finds some merch online he may, if in a good mood, get it for you, but don't get to excited about it, there's a 99% chance that later he'll get jealous about you trying to figure out where to put it and things like that, that he'll take it and hide it -> Will tackle you onto your bed if he thinks you're talking too much about your fav character and will make you cuddle with him

This is also the time he’s most vulnerable with you; kissing your hands, neck, cheek, arms, and of course your lips ;)

“I really like all the things Ryusui really i do, but…I just really want to spend time with you…”

Then calls in like it’s nothing!

The rest of the day is the two of  you lay in bed together and act all cutesy!

He buys you flowers and takes you to a pretty nice restaurant. Nothing too fancy but it’s nicer than you normally go to

He lets you order first and gets him something small, which is weird for this man

You both talk for hours the waitstaff is so annoyed

After you two are FINALLY done you both walk back to the Bebop

“Why did you eat so little Spike? You’re normally chowing down!”

He chuckles and keeps walking, “wasn’t that hungry.”

“Come on spike, we’re practically married, I can tell when you’re lying!”

He sighs and mumbled something 

“What?”

“I wanted to make sure I had enough money for you to eat…”

You stop in your tracks

“Spike…”

You kiss him lovingly 

“Thank you Spike. I love you so much.”

He smiles, “ditto.”

Hisashi Mitsui

You’re probably his first valentines tbh

He waits at a cafe with flowers in his hand

When you show up he’s bright red. You’re not even wearing and saying anything spectacular he’s just so nervous lol

You sit next to each other and talk snack and laugh about everything and anything 

After the cafe you head to the park

And after that you go to little stores you see along the way

Mitsui buys you a stuffed animal you were looking at and you bought him a chain necklace he glanced at

It was a really great valentines, especially since it was first

“T-thanks for being my valentine (y/n). I’m glad i get to spend it with you.”

Matt Holt:

He makes this super cool heart shaped projector thing!

He hands you this heart 

It rises shifts into being a projector that displays all of your favorite memories together

It shows the new inductee dance and how the two of you jumping around without a care in the world

Then it shows a lazy night of the both of you “studying” for an exam as the camera zooms into Matt’s face and your giggles from behind the camera

And one of your favorite memories of all, your day at the beach together. Throwing water at each other, making sand castles, resting you head in his shoulder as the sun goes down 

“Matt…this is beautiful… I-I’m speechless…!”

“It’s alright.” He begins, “I know what you’re gonna say. I love you too.”

Taehoon Seong

Mans has no idea what to do

He acts like he doesn’t care as Hansu tries to give him ideas but really he’s terrified of messing something up

So when the day comes you hear a knock on the door you’re surprised to see a nicely dressed Taehoon with a rose in his hand

You smile and kiss his cheek. “Thank you Tae Tae!”

When he does there’s a nice breakfast for two in the dining room

Spoils you with acts of service 

As soon as you wake up you’re greeted with the smell of a nice breakfast in the dining room

I read this entire thing yesterday. Ooh boy was it a page-turner! Time travel in fiction can get dicey, but this one handles it so well. I love how the time travel plot forced M&S to confront themselves and their pasts in order to better understand each other and move forward in their relationship.

This one should come as no surprise to you. It’s rare that a fic consumes my every waking thought and I spend every free second reading as much as possible, and boy, this fic delivered. I’m such a sucker for stories like this one where the character(s) don’t know if they can trust their own minds and have to really dig deep inside themselves to find the truth.

OMG SAME 100% FACTS TRUE i fucking hate how the dmc fans online keep making the same repetitive unfunny dante in debt jokes while being more empathetic towards both nero and vergil. like dante tends to have isolation habits or isolate himself from others to protect others, that's a common trope in fiction in general (especially japanese fictional stories but some western stories like The Boys or Spiderman has this trope too). These people are actually fucking stupid sometimes. Not to mention without Dante - Vergil and Nero wouldn't exist in the series. I'm also glad I'm not the only one who thinks Dante is one of the more realistic responses to trauma I've seen.

The way the DMC fanbase treats my boy Dante sometimes also reminds me of how the Tekken community treats my man Jin Kazama (especially on websites like reddit, twitter, and the YouTube comments section). They always show more empathy towards his father Kazuya (who is very similar to Vergil and Sasuke, man loses his family and goes down a dark path obsessed with power. also is the father of another character but is absent in their child's life) and Heihachi (who is literally just evil...like dude fucking killed his own wife, his own father, Michelle's father, Lidia's father, Leroy's entire family. dude unleashed shrek and killed innocent people.). Yet they mock Jin's mental health issues of survivor's guilt and low self esteem and make shitty jokes at his expense a lot. Jin lived a peaceful humble life with his mother Jun until Ogre attacked and Jin wanted to defeat Ogre to avenge his mother and also avenge the other fighters who were hurt by Ogre (ex. Hwoarang's master, King's adopted father). Then Heihachi who Jin trusted for years just betrays him by almost killing him via being shot multiple times. Then Jin finds out he was born with the Devil Gene thanks to his dad and has a hard time controlling it. His father Kazuya only cares about power and wants to kill Jin to get the rest of the Devil Gene for himself and Kazuya mostly cares about revenge against Heihachi. Most of the terrible shit in his life is out of his control. Like Dante, Jin also isolates himself from others out of fear his devil gene might hurt them or they might get dragged into the problems of the dysfunctional Mishima bloodline he's trying to end.

It also doesn't help that the creators of Tekken also lowkey hate Jin Kazama too, Harada blatantly stated in multiple interviews that he prefers villainous characters (ex. Heihachi aka Harada's favorite character), and Harada always wanted Jin to be a villain like his precious Heihachi Mishima but the team disagreed at first for obvious reasons (there are already too many bad guys/morally grey characters in Tekken, Jin is supposed to be the good mishima bloodline member he is supposed to be the good guy who doesn't let his trauma or family history make him bad, and it'd just be a repeat of Kazuya's story). Then Harada also assassinated Jin's character and made him OOC in Tekken 6's shitty scenario campaign story. Jin's potrayal in Tekken 6 completely contradicts his characterization in the older games (especially his Tekken 4 ending) and Jin is just out of character in that game, but the fanbase are usually idiots who don't realize that. So the fans bash Jin even more, and oh don't get me started on all the horrible fanfiction on ao3 where Jin gets r*ped by multiple characters because he hasn't suffered enough.

Both Dante and Jin deserve better, i hate it here it's always my favs are cursed lmao. (Ｔ▽Ｔ)

YEAAAH like I’m sorry but I think people are so overly critical of his actions in DMC5. I’m always gonna be of the belief he did nothing wrong in that game except for not telling Nero Vergil was his dad but he had reasons for not telling him like… the fact that he was afraid of cursing Nero with the same life he was living if he got too closely associated with either twin. And the fact that Nero most likely wouldn’t believe him (which Dante himself said) unless he had definitive proof for him. Dante is a man weighed down by the responsibility of protecting all of humanity, something any other person would completely crack under. So he thinks he can only let people in a certain amount or else they could get hurt. It happened many times, after all. Like I’d understand the criticisms of his behavior if he acted like a toxic asshole the whole time but… he really doesn’t. At worst he’s said something insensitive a couple times which… who hasn’t done that in their life and he felt bad about it both times it happened lmao (when he upset Nero in 5 and when he accidentally made Patty cry in the anime. Like he was actively miserable the entire episode because of it.) I’ve read such a weird amount of posts bashing Dante or fanfics that do the same.

Btw I’ve never played Tekken but that sounds shitty :(

Hello my lovelies! I hope you had a fun and safe New Years Eve! I wanted to make a little post just showing my appreciation for the last year on Tumblr! I will admit that I am not the best at re-blogging posts that I love. Usually I'm reading between classes, assignments, or right before bed and don't often take the time to share my thoughts on some of the incredible literature on this site. With that being said, I wanted to make this post highlighting some of my favorite works, authors, and stories of 2024. As with all things of this nature, I am very sure some things got left out. This is in no way a comprehensive list of all the works I have enjoyed this year, but just a few I wanted to highlight. First and foremost is my favorite (only) big sis, of course. If you have not stumbled upon @ladylooch 's blog yet, you are missing a vital part of life. Her AUs are a literal rabbit hole. I started reading about Nico Hischier and I am now emotionally invested in the lives of two original character's and their love story. I love everything B publishes, but this year she gave us a beautiful new story of love and loss, and exploring that world with her has been the highlight of my year. Head over to her blog and jump into an AU, literally any of them. You won't regret it.

@puck-luck...guys. Andy is INSANE!!!! Everything she puts out is delicious, but I specifically fell in love with her 'New Beginnings' series this year and cannot recommend it enough. I don't even like Trevor Zegras like that y'all, but Andy is a literary genius so I fell in love. I have to save her writing for when I am home & in bed because I WILLLLL have a physical reaction. as someone who wants to get into arthurian legends.. where do you think I should start? is there a precise canon to follow? oh and.. this might be a stupid question but.. how would you describe guinevere's and lancelot's relationship...? i personally really like them because of what I've heard online, but i got shamed for liking it a while ago from people who really hated guinevere and said gawain or galehaut(not sure if i spelled it right) would be better for lancelot..

I have a Beginner’s Guide to Medieval Arthuriana pinned on my blog. There’s no precise canon to follow, but you’ll get the most bang for your buck reading the works of Chrétien de Troyes and the Vulgate Cycle. Much of what Chrétien developed ended up in the Vulgate, like Lancelot rescuing Guinevere from kidnapping, but there are more elements added from other stories, such as Lancelot’s upbringing in the lake which originated from Lanzelet by Ulrich von Zatzikoven. On the other hand, Yvain’s journey as Knight with the Lion doesn’t make it into the Vulgate, so that’s worth reading on its own.

Regarding the part about people shaming you: block them if you haven’t already and anyone else who does so in future. I’m terribly sorry those people were unwelcoming as you begin to read and learn about Arthurian Legend. Let that not reflect on the community as a whole—there’s many lovely people here that’ll be happy to help you along. I hope you’re able to cultivate a positive online experience to the best of your ability and start enjoying the legends with us! :^D

But back to the fun stuff—I also really like Guinevere/Lancelot! My favorite dynamic is when Arthur is included too, but Guin is my number one pick for Lancey. ;^) It’s hard to describe them in so few words but I think it’s important to establish that they’re friends. This is an oft overlooked aspect that really deserves attention. They care for each other deeply. She helps him out of his madness and he helps her out of danger. This is something Arthur couldn’t do for either of them, much as he wanted to. That’s what makes the pair special, to me.

As for shipping wars about medieval characters….kinda ridiculous! And shaming other people over it is just abhorrent. I’m sorry you had to deal with that! Personally I enjoy Arthur/Guinevere/Lancelot and Galehaut/Lancelot. I think it’s obvious I favor Gawain with his wife Ragnelle lol but Gawain/Lancelot is fine too. Gawain can have a little Lancelot. As a treat. I even enjoy “crackship” type pairings, like Bedivere/Lancelot or Kay/Lancelot or maybe a little [unrequited] Agravaine/Lancelot, and if the author or filmmaker chooses to write her in a positive light, Elaine/Lancelot as well. But that’s just it—there’s certainly no such thing as a “better” person(s) to couple with Lancelot. It’s literally fake. It’s fiction. It’s for fun! Doesn’t sound like the people you’ve encountered were having very much fun and put that on you, which was wrong.

Here I’d like to mention I run a discord server called the Arthurian Theater Server. Every weekend I stream TV shows and movies, mostly Arthurian, sometimes random fantasy. But it’s more than visual media—my friends and I share resources, character playlists, art we made, stories we wrote, we’ll liveblog retellings or newly discovered medlit translations, and discuss anything else Arthurian! We have custom made emojis for all the knights and ladies, a variety of original art stickers of the characters provided by several members, and an array of sounds bites ripped from films and TV for the soundboard to be played while streaming. Tumblr can be a little hard to navigate with the unreliable tag system, so this server is dedicated to an organized and moderated exchange of ideas and content. You’re welcome to join us!

For my derelict favorite is why in recent years, readers are BEGGING for at least some realistic thinking in Fiction cuz the wacky shits in a story supposed to be seen as normal and cool or media literate or whatever, don't have what they apparently have been talking about

I'm all in for crazy stuff in Manhwhas, example: Regina Rena to the Unforgivable, it's a GREAT EXAMPLE on how Media literacy can go hand in hand with HORROR (the horror elements are great, the tones are similar to Your Throne), I wouldn't say it's that revolutionary, but they have a ML who respects women and has the edgelord look but acting like one of the best men I've seen since so long in Manhwhas, he isn't perfect but he's so great

I frankly adore manhwa where the characters actually act like adults and talk things through. Not-sew-wicked stepmother does this well along with the often misused topic of SA. The main pair Sabrian and Abigail start off on a pretty bad foot since Sabrian neglected his daughter, Blance, but progressively grew with the power of communication and Sabrian opening up the tragic reason on why he can't be around Blanche or even other women for that matter.

And that's just the start, there's much more character development to be found in many of the other characters along with realistic problems they must solve such as an arsenic poisoning crisis in the green dye used for the clothes.

Not sew wicked stepmother is everything manhwa like for my derelict favorite lack. Actual communication and conflicts that are solved like adults and not like adult children.

So you want to start selfshipping, that’s great!! There’s lots of people out there who can help you out if you have questions, me included, but to answer some of the questions you already asked;

How do you know if you want to self shipping but with a character?

For me, it’s like a switch turns on kind of, a lightbulb moment almost. It either happens after I’m well established with a media (I watched sk8 all the way through before I gave shadow any time of day and now he’s one of my faves), or it’s love at first sight (cough cough… Eagle.bones…) where as soon as you see the character you go “I want that one ☝️ “

But really, it’s different for everyone, sometimes you just see a character you really like and want to post about/write/draw/etc, or can imagine scenarios with that character, whatever you want! Who you put on you fictional other (F/O) list is completely up to you, whether it has a million characters or only one or two.

Honestly, I think it really doesn’t matter? OC x Canon and selfshipping has a lot of overlap, a lot of my sonas/self inserts (S/Is) are basically OCs that have the same name as me at this point.

For example, my Aqua.bats insert has so much lore, more lore than I’ve given any other OCs, original or fandom. I love writing up traits and scenarios for them, and while they represent me, if I literally just changed their hair color and name, they could probably be an OC on their own.

On the other hand, you can just be yourself plopped into a universe! Or your F/O can be in this universe! There’s not really any rules on “how close” your insert has to be to you as a person to selfship. Just be yourself and have fun, your S/I can be a demon cat warrior named Serena and as long as you say that’s your insert it counts IMO.

Yes!! Absolutely you can platonically selfship!!! It’s so fun having characters be your besties! I may not be the best platonic selfship rep, but I do have a good few friend F/Os with tags on this blog. I will say, there is a lot of romantic imagines in selfship tags, but there’s plenty of people writing and creating about their platonic F/Os as well if you look.

okayyy yaaayy

I'm actually just gonna cover a bunch of topics that might help to consider when writing time travel into your story

OK SO FIRST OF ALL you need to figure out how time travel affects your time stream. this is really important to figure out right away so it doesn't fuck you over later on, do you want:

time travel to create an alternative universe from altered choices

time travel to be reversible

time travel to be inevitable and irreversible

one thing to consider no matter what choice you do is that a time paradox is not only inevitable, but also speaks volume for how time travel works to begin with in your story/world.

now I'm not particularly a fan of the "time falling apart" trope as it requires reality to be that fragile to begin with and for physical matter to be negatively impacted by other timelines just from... interacting with itself. it's not exactly the most logic based thing for "touching hands with your past self and causing reality to become unstable" to happen, as individual atoms do not have the capacity to think "wow this body is exactly like mine" and collapse upon itself. like that's just stupid, so I'm disregarding that trope right the fuck now.

now digging into time paradoxes, I'll give a quick run down on what they are and what it means to implement them.

The Grandfather Paradox: this is the most used fictional time paradox and to be honest I hate it the most. I understand why it could happen, but I usually just write around it since this isn't a paradox I'm interested in pursuing. the paradox centers around traveling back in time, killing your grandparent, and coming back to a timeline where time travel couldn't have happened because you no longer exist. unlike the bootstrap paradox, this one works within the realm of time being alterable "one way" and it technically creates or overwrites timelines with the choices of the time traveler. this one is really common because it means that a time traveler's actions are reversible (well, depending on if they just erase the time traveler or not). there's a problem with this particular one where trying to fix their mistakes creates a bunch of copies of the character, but many fiction writers just delete all the extra versions of them after the timeline is restored. however, that isn't a requirement. literally all this is fake science anyway

The Bootstrap Paradox: MY FAVORITE PARADOX!!! this is the time paradox that makes time travel irreversible and in a way, stuck in a perpetual loop with no true origin. no timelines get overwritten because the entirety of this paradox is contained within one, already changed, timeline. the gist of it is that "there is no time from which time travel didn't happen" meaning that the timeline is permanently affected by time travel. this puts the timeline in a "feedback loop", meaning whatever the person does in time travel has already affected the present and time will not change because it has already been changed. I like this one because the consequences are permanent. I could probably ramble about it more, but I've already talked about it before

The Pedestrian Paradox: this one is kinda similar to bootstap. time traveler goes back to past and accidentally stops something that affects the future while being sustained in an intact timeline. saving the past creates their already existing future, cause and affect type deal. 90% of the philosophy behind this one is about challenging the existence of free will.

Newcomb's Paradox: similarly to the last one, this one also challenges the existence of free will and is really only important if you have (a) god(s) for your world or the existence of anyone who can predict the future. I don't think this one is super important, but a lot of people do explore it.

anyway, creating a basis for how time moves to the will of the time traveler will help a lot in a story and will also help fill some of those pesky plot holes. I think the only thing I have left to give thought on because my brain ran away from me is: is your time machine a time machine or a time and displacement machine.

moving in time is one thing, but how does that guarantee you'll be exactly where your time machine is? will the earth's rotation and movement cause a timetraveler to end up in the middle of the ocean? or worse, space? does the time machine stay put to its coordinates on earth specifically to prevent that from happening? or does your time machine move to certain locations when it moves through time? will it be affected by the first concern? lots of things to consider when actually making a time machine and I'd definitely recommend looking into it.

generally time travel is fictional enough that you can just bullshit stuff and never have to worry about it, but also I like world building and putting some rules in place so I can stay consistent. here's a quick checklist that might help:

how does the time machine move through time? does it move physically or only temporally?

if it does move, are coordinates required for the usage of a time machine?

how will time travel affect the timeline? will it affect it independently, only changing the present as the past is altered, or will the present have always been affected by the changed past?

does time travel create alternative realities? would going back in time create a split timeline where your actions affect the past/future, but not yours because it created a new, separate, timeline now affected by your actions?

does free will exist? does it matter?

will time travel affect the abstract concept of reality? is it capable of being collapsed to begin with?

why should your character know to avoid certain scenarios like meeting their past self? does it matter?

if you're having logic problems with some of the scenarios (such as people from the future stopping their past selves from a terrible future, destroying their present in exchange for a new one, but now having no origin of time travel), then congratulations! you have ended up in a time paradox, which is completely fine and normal for creating a story that contains time travel.

I hope at least some of this made sense, I like the fake science that doesn't matter
