the thing about buddie is that they're genuinely just so? cute?? like. they're best friends who never fight unless they're missing each other. they tried out hating each other for two shifts before they unequivocally settled on adoring each other every day for the rest of their lives instead. first order of business in their friendship was both asking 'please take care of me' and then they both said Okay ❤️ yay ❤️. buck pulls sick pranks on eddie by buying him expensive things he'd never get for himself. eddie physically can't look at buck without his whole face lighting up. buck is comfortable enough in eddie's house to never feel like a guest. eddie still deserves pretty things though so he's gonna decorate a whole basket of pastries especially for him. eddie learns to cook and the first person he wants to show off to after his son is buck. they get excited about wearing matching outfits. if buck wants to do something stupid eddies obviously gonna do it with him but he's gonna bitch about it. they work 60 hours a week then take turns spending the day at each other's house during their days off and just to be safe when they do have to be somewhere alone they facetime. they'll get wasted at a party with twenty other people including drag queens and they'll still only hang out with each other. if someone invites them somewhere they can expect the other person to come too. they make me SICK

Buck didn't even know who Eddie was talking to. It very likely could have been Marisol- his actual girlfriend. Yet he STILL reacted this way. And to try to get EDDIE'S attention.

I love that they have gone with Buck stating over and over that Eddie is straight - the way that implies that Buck has actually been aware of his feelings for a long while - the way it creates this narrative that he was dating all these people - trying to make something work with them - because he knew he’s in love with Eddie but Eddie isn’t an option - so trying to make something lesser work was his only route forward in his mind. Supressing and not giving voice to his feelings - settling for having him as his best friend because it’s better than nothing.

The way this sharpens the focus on 704 and plays the jealousy Buck was experiencing over Eddie making a new friend in such an interesting way - Bucks need for Eddie’s attention - need to stop others from becoming Eddie’s friend - because its the only part of Eddie that Buck can have - the only way Buck gets to be with Eddie and he cannot lose that under any circumstances.

It’s both heartbreaking and fascinating all at once and its really great storytelling - making it all about Buck and making plot devices sere their purpose but in a super minimal way that keeps everything focused on Buck and his fear of putting himself out there, which also makes Bucks behaviour over 809 & 810 even more understandable and devastating - it was the behaviour of a man in deep love - becasue he already knew he was in love - that he really was losing in a more devastating way than anyone in his life could ever know.

eddie buys books about topics he’s really interested in and then gives them to buck so buck will read them and then tell eddie all about them. eddie just prefers to learn things from buck because everything is so much more engaging when it’s buck that’s telling eddie about it.

Being so serious right now, but I think if a noncanon ship (especially a queer ship!!!) has enough deeply unquestionably queer scenes to make an edit of over a minute, they should be automatically declared canon. And if one or more characters is already in a canon relationship, congratulations, they are now in a trouple (or more)! Because the amount of noncanon queer ships that have so much more than just a minute’s worth of very queer scenes is getting ridiculous. Okay, so this is a parallel of 7x04, right?? Buck takes an action, somebody gets hurt, & he spirals about whether he actually meant to hurt them or not.

I’ve been thinking about the difference between Maddie & Eddie’s reactions for a week already, but tonight sent it home for me.

Maddie said “it’s not like you meant to hurt him.” Even though she doesn’t automatically assume that he did, that’s still her first thought. When Buck hesitates & says he doesn’t know for sure, she immediately scolds him. “That’s not how you get someone’s attention, we don’t hurt the people we care about.” Given her backstory, it makes sense.

Eddie’s automatic thought is, “You saved him.” There’s no doubt in Eddie’s mind that Buck meant to help, not harm. It doesn’t even enter his thought process. When Buck freaks out, Eddie can’t think of why he would be doing that, bc Buck saved Gerrard’s life. What else could have happened?

Buck & Maddie will always see each other the way they did growing up, even if only in a small part of their minds. Maddie is Superman who has everything under control & all the answers, and Buck is the one who reacts rashly & causes damage for a scrap of attention. Their childhood was so intense & they only really had each other, they were literally in the trenches together their entire childhood, so there will always be bias there.

& I’m thinking of Eddie telling Buck in s5 that maybe Chimney knew Maddie better than Buck did. That maybe the partners they have now are able to see them clearer than their siblings.

Eddie’s trust & belief in Buck is steady & unwavering, even when Buck doesn’t believe in himself and it makes me want to SCREAM a little bit bc oh my god.

I have no idea where they’re going with this arc, but WOW I can’t wait.
