He is a true crank , in the sense of a writer for the journal Nature defined it in 1906: "A crank is defined as a man who cannot be turned." Once challenged, he will just keep digging.

why can their only be one mother grub

okay there actually isn't that much to this one it's just that the comic pretty explicitly only ever refers to her as "THE mother grub" and the reasons i tend to hear for why there should or could be more than one are always based on shaky logic.

first and foremost that it "doesn't make sense" or "isn't practical" for all trolls to be born from a single cave when i think it's pretty clear that the strangeness and impracticality of one mother grub is basically the point. what we know about troll reproduction is that it is by its very nature incestuous, and that despite being in control of an empire spanning across a galaxy, once their home planet was gone the whole race was fucked. reproductive strategy - as demonstrated by Sburb, the reproductive strategy of universes themselves - is a key theme in Homestuck, and in that respect the reproductive strategy of the troll race a) starkly contrasts the reproductive strategy of humans on earth and b) fits in perfectly with Lord English's strategy for rising to power. almost all humans are capable of creating their own young (with some help) and therefore live independently from the colony, and in the same way, a widespread beta release of Sburb allowed humans lots of chances to recreate their race anew after the Earth's destruction. but English is the god of the inevitable, and of putting - in this case very literally! - all of his eggs in one basket. trolls all come from the one place, bred for one purpose, so they can play one single session of Sgrub and ensure Lord English's one, singular favoured outcome.

to that effect, by having a single brooding mother the trolls' life cycle reflects their social structure. the Alternian empire is an insect colony who, despite having spread across an entire galaxy, have only one queen; and while it is true that in the troll culture the roles of brooding mother and ruling queen are split across two individuals, that there is only one of the latter clearly demonstrates the methods of consolidation and control at play. while it would be more practical for the condesce not to slaughter the members of her bloodline who could be put to better use helping her control such a vast empire, one empress means only one voice to listen to. and when you're trying to keep a clean gene pool like the trolls are, having only one source of offspring to keep an eye on is just commonsense. this is another thing clearly indicated at in Act 6; when the condesce took control of earth she decided that it would suit her purposes better for humans to all donate their genetic material to a central cloning lab rather than be allowed to reproduce freely.

another suggestion i used to see a lot but i guess not so much anymore is that the trolls could, or perhaps would even need to, establish reproduction on the planets they've colonised, which I think stems from a misunderstanding of the whole reason adult trolls are sent into space. it seems to me like some labour under the presumption that, prior to the summoner's revolt, there were no trolls in space, and that the reason the adults were all sent away was to conquer a new frontier. but this isn't the case: we know that when the Signless was alive - which was many centuries before the Summoner could even have been born - he was part of a war "across the planet and throughout the galaxy." so when the condesce "fully decentralized the race from the homeworld [by scattering] all but the children throughout the galaxy", the purpose can only have been to separate adults from children, specifically. if there are more troll children being born on other planets in the empire then not only are the adults and the children no longer separated, but Alternia stops being a planet of any significance at all. it's just one planet where some trolls are born. we should also keep in mind that, as above, the relationship between parent and child holds thematic significance in Homestuck. the separation of progenitor from progeny should always be thought of as a more important motivator than simply expanding Alternia's empire - which, it should be noted, isn't even a goal that furthers English's plans for the trolls! turning the young into emotionless killing machines, on the other hand, does further those plans.

and in the same vein as the clown thing, am i really just the only one who finds the idea of Alternia's subterranean regions being wholly dominated by this one huge overgrown bug - of a scale no living troll could ever comprehend in its entirety, pumping out offspring on a galactic magnitude - really cool. like why do you think trolls talk about this thing like it's a god. why do you think there needs to be a highly specialised and deeply secretive coven of vampire nuns looking after it 24/7

Mind you, I don't like Drake. Matter of fact, I hate that dude. Before, I didn't care for him, he wasn't on my radar like that, but then he dissed Meg and I had a valid reason to HATE (I didn't know about the grooming allegations then). ☹️

I tried to get into Drake's stuff when 'If You're Reading This it's Too Late' came out but his music wasn't for me.

The few songs I've enjoyed of his I can count on one hand and only one, 'Fucking Problems', ever made it to my playlists and that I can largely attribute to how nice a group effort it was, Drake is really good with the melodies.

Yeah, I don't like him BUT crodie get up!!

But, like in a way that makes sense.

As many of Aubrey's Angels have pointed out, Drake is in a damned if he do, damned if he don't situation. What I personally refer to as "if it's not the consequences of my actions".

If he had taken a break, he would have been trolled for being silent.

BUT if Drake had come out with a banger... what then? If he came out with a banger that broke #1 he would have still been trolling Kendrick. In fact, he should have made one that ensured everyone dances and waves their hands for a decade to come.

Let's wait and find out, he's going to be in Camila Cabello's Album so maybe that will be his big come back? Though I've seen him being trolled for this collab, as it is playing into the allegations of him being a culture vulture because he chose to work with Camila who did some racist stuff in the past, right here on Tumblr, and I just love how the internet never lets her forget.

Did Drake Really Lose?

Drake lost on the internet. Though both he and Kendrick have been accused of serious stuff, (domestic violence and grooming), the internet is very keen on hating Drake. Do I secretly love it? No, I'm very publicly in love with it, let's never let the Drake hate go.

Reason why I said on the internet is because people at work still play Drake in the cafeteria and no one got it when I played 'Not Like Us'. If I have to hear 'God's Plan' one more time...

Drake kind of lost the streaming war. Drake in general is one of the most streamed people ever, he always tops the charts and when Spotify wrapped comes out I am always disappointed to see he is a lot of people's number one.

But before 'Euphoria' and shortly after 'Like That', I remember listening to 'Good Kid Maad City' and Kendrick was at 62M monthly listeners, now he's at 78M, he's broken a bunch of records that were previously held by Drake with his diss songs and his albums are charting again.

Drake, on the other hand, his new songs are being trolled, even his pre-beef songs are not doing very well with daily streams, he hasn't lost listeners though but he's not gained many new ones.

Everyone and their grandma seemed to listen to 'Not Like Us'. It was being played in Brown weddings, a bar mitzvah and an Anime Convention with the crowd actually singing along. One month later it is still going strong. Mind you Aubrey's Angels were saying Kendrick's songs are not bops, but not many are bopping to 'Family Matters'.

Why Did Kendrick Win the Rap Beef?

Kendrick won! This is not just a biased opinion of someone who has loved his music since I saw his performance of 'The Blacker The Berry' during the 2016 Grammys, but also as a Drake hater. 😊

What I expected from this battle is for Drake to win, not because he's the better lyricist but because I thought it would be a popularity contest and Drake is more popular.

So Kendrick won because he is the better rap artist, he read that man to filth, he had a better strategy, he had a better understanding of his opponent, and he crafted such a good narrative on 'Euphoria' that predicted where this beef would go:

Kendrick dropping 'Meet the Grahams' less than an hour after Drake pushed the red button with 'Family Matters' and Drake not understanding 'Mother I Sober' in 'The Heart Part 6'. Here is where Drake lost me.

Okay he lost me with the you're short and have small feet in 'Push Ups'. "Drop, drop, drop, drop" was catchy though, I admit. Drop, drop, drop, drop that album Kendrick!

Kendrick did his homework, quoting "remember" and "it's too many options" but Drake didn't. Kendrick basically spilled all his trauma in 'Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers' and gave Drake free ammo that he didn't use.

Clearly this is why Drake is not on that conscious shit, he doesn't have the literacy for it.

Drake made fun of Kendrick's fiancé for being lightskin in 'Family Matters' instead of calling him out for cheating with a white woman. Then Drake said Kendrick's son is lightskin when clearly he is not.

The lies! Let's not even start.

He could have gone harder on Kendrick for working with Kodak Black, who has an ugly history and really hates (Black) women, and Dr. Dre who has a history of domestic violence then tied it together with his own accusations that "they hired a crisis management team to clean up the fact that you beat on your queen". Someone teach Drake how to craft narratives.

Lastly, he should have focused on Kendrick alone, no one cares about your beef with Rick Ross crodie!

But Why Did Drake Lose the People?

Drake being a culture vulture, his grooming allegations and having Baka around have never been reason enough to incite deep criticism from the people before because we've seen how society loves to look away from such allegations, Kendrick's alleged domestic violence is being dismissed, such allegations are not even taken seriously in instances like for Chris Brown where there is undeniable proof.

So in Drake's instance, people are actually choosing to believe these allegations now.

And that's what I am curious about why now?

FANÁTICO - The references + Argentinian Politics

So, Lali released a new single called "FANÁTICO" and if you are out of the loop like I was this, you'd think this is another video calling out haters like a lot of artists do.

TURNS OUT, it's directed at a very important person in Argentina at the moment, and everyone should be talking about it.

I'll list all the silly references I was able to get and all the info I was able to find on the video undercut. If you see something wrong or know something else, feel free to add more info.

Okay, first thing is first: Who is Lali?

Lali (Mariana Espósito) is an Argentinian singer who began her career in acting in the Cris Morena novela "Ricón de Luz". Her biggest role was in "Casi Angéles" where she belonged to a band called Teen Angels.

In 2022, she came out as Bi and she also sang the national anthem of Argentina at the World Cup in Qatar

Not only that but she's probably one of the biggest - if not the biggest - Argentinian pop artists at the moment.

SILLY REFERENCES

Now, back to the MV, let's start with silly and unrelated references to Argentina politics I was able to catch.

It says "Day 33". Lali is turning 33 this year.

The nun is a reference to a character she played in a novela called "Esperanza Mía".

I'm not sure about this one, but her style of clothing reminds me of Dolly Parton

The bodyguard has a necklace that says "Disciplina" one of Lali's songs from the last album

The dress and hair are a reference to Miley Cyrus' "Flowers". Lali has referenced her multiple times and says she has a crush on her.

While this dude walks in she mentions her song "Disciplina" again which is about BDSM, so I think that's what this is referencing to.

WHO THE FUCK IS MILEI?

If you don't know who Javier Milei is, allow me to introduce him to you.

Milei is the current president of Argentina. He is the head of a right/extreme-right wing party called the Partido Libertário.

After Milei won the elections, Lali expressed her sadness and he said he only listened to Rolling Stones and that he didn't know who Lali is

"Lali Espósito is sad about the victor of Javier Milei, and he replies with: I only hear Rolling Stones

The Argentine actress expressed her displeasure after the victory of the leader of La Libertad Avanza in the primary elections. “Sorry, I don’t know who she is,” the politician replied."

His political party was also responsible for spreading Fake News about Lali (claiming she was leaving the country or she was living of the government's money)

This is not just about Milei, but I didn't know where else to put it.

Iñaki Gutierréz worked for the government and has called Lali a "delinquent", but also claimed he's not an idiot and her music is good. Thus the wardrobe change.

This man wearing a leather jacket is a direct reference to Milei. They are around the same age, Milei wears leather jacktes, and this actor is imitating his way of screaming. Here's Milei screaming at a VOX meeting (far right movement in Spain):

unrelated but Vox has annexed Portugal in their campaigns and as a Portuguese person I feel the need to tell them to fuck off

in a "blink and you'll miss it" moment, we see a girl wearing a Rolling Stones t-shirt with the Argentinian colors

Also, the Libertários (the supporters of Milei's Party) have called her Lali "Depósito" (storage), and that's why the whole MV is in a storage room. You can see some of their marketing on that using AI-generated images here

Surprisingly, this song just.... dropped.

Well... not really.

A couple of days before the song was released, a poster of Lali showed up in the streets of Buenos Aires.

The following day, it was vandalized

People began speculating and the next day she announced a new single to her upcoming album. With the release of the MV, it was revealed she did it.

Also, I think that's supposed to be a reference to something, but I couldn't find anything.

Than you have the Nhạc do Trolls: They are “called the red music” is kinda similar to V-pop but their music began soon after the beginning of the 20th century during the French colonial period their music is kinda upbeat (at least that what I think I only listen to it once)

I can see him playing both the Bamboo Flute and a Dan Ty La which is a Vietnamese traditional orchestra is a pear shaped like instrument which has twisted strings

Although there’s plenty of Vietnamese traditional instruments I would see clay killing it at the đàn Tam thập lục it looks like a piano but no is a hammered dulcimer w 36 metal strings and it used in various Vietnamese music genres and drama as-well this instrument is similar to the Chinese version which is called a Yangqin

Being in his sensitive nature side he would crushed it at đàn bầu is a Vietnamese string instrument from the monochord zither is sounds so beautiful and calming it sometimes makes Floyd shed a tear of how smooth it sounds he would also play the bamboo flute
