Flower symbolism in Yuumori:

We all know that some characters have assigned flowers in the manga (Liam and Sherlock) and others in the anime (Louis, Albert and John), but I've never felt they're quite right. They seem a bit lackluster, so I tried to make my own list complete with meanings!

Liam: lilies. They symbolize purity, and are commonly a symbol of mourning, often found on gravestones of family members.

Albert: roses. They symbolize love, and the added touch of sub rosa interacts nicely with their goals.

Louis: azalea. As I've mentioned before, they symbolize family and unity, so it's only fitting they'd go to the one keeping the family together.

Moran: forget-me-not. They symbolize undying love and loyalty, and past memories. Very fitting for a soldier.

Fred: edelweiss. They symbolize courage and devotion, two things Fred has a lot of.

James: belladonna. Not only do they symbolize beauty and confidence, they were also used by cosmetics by victorian women.

Moneypenny: jasmine. They symbolize grace and elegance, and are both used in tea and perfumes, making it a nice touch for her.

Herder: periwinkle. They symbolize friendship and new begginings, both things he heavily desires, if we are to go by chapter 12.

Sherlock: iris. They symbolize strenght and intelligence, both things he has a surplus of, and also have the additional meaning of wisdom, which he acquired in NYC.

John: violet. They symbolize loyalty and hope, both of which are always fitting themes for any Watson of any media.

Miss Hudson: zinnia. They symbolize affection and absence, a way to show how much she missed her boy during the timeskip.

Mycroft: nasturtium. They symbolize patriotism and conquest. Only fitting for the Queen's right hand man, isn't it?

You and Sherlock were in a serious relationship for some time, and you knew him like the back of his hand.

You were his safe space and confidant, trusting you with his whole life and telling you everything.

So when the news broke out about the Lord of Crime, William James Moriarty, you knew Sherlock would be involved in the grand finale.

While everyone was outraged and cursed the Lord of Crime, you and Sherlock knew something was missing. One final clue.

You didn't know why, but you could tell Sherlock was getting more anxious with how tightly he held your hand during the investigation.

The whole time, you were by his side. But from the palace visit to William's letter, you knew Sherlock was hiding something from you.

Whenever Sherlock was deep in thought, he would grab your hand and turn to you, telling you how much you mean to him.

You tried to ask him why so suddenly, but he would just sadly smile and say he just wanted to let you know.

It all became apparent on the night of the Reichenbach Fall.

While others saw a hero sacrificing himself to defeat the villainous killer, you saw your lover and friend falling to their deaths.

John, Miss Hudson, and even Mycroft were consoling you, hoping to find comfort in each other.

But what shocked you was that sometime after the funeral, someone delivered you irises and lilies with a note, a message only you and Sherlock understood, with a promise of returning.

You ran up to 221B Baker Street, finding out Sherlock had also sent a letter to John indicating his survival.

You fell to your knees from shock and relief, releasing the tears and emotions you'd been holding back the whole time.

You continued to live on, patiently waiting for Sherlock and William with John, Miss Hudson, and Mycroft.

During anniversaries and your birthday, it was almost clockwork with the deliveries of gifts and flowers with small notes.

On the other hand, you would keep your gifts in a safe place to give to Sherlock when he returns, even though you were not sure when that would be.

Until one day, you found a familiar man with long hair standing and fidgeting on your porch with a bouquet and gift box.

Out of impulse, you called out Sherlock's name, making the man turn around and confirm it was Sherlock.

Your body moved on its own as you ran to him, hugging him tightly as if he would vanish if you let him go.

And from how his whole body wrapped around you, it seemed he felt the same way.

You lightly joked about his changes, from the long hair to the cleaner attire, saying how William must have been a good influence on him.

Sherlock smiled as he reassured you he was still him, and his feelings for you were unwavering.

He apologized for the sudden appearance and explained why, telling you William sent him on a mission and needed your help as he gave you a letter from William.

Seeing how dire the situation is, you agreed and followed their plan.

After stopping Sebastian Moran, you felt Sherlock reach for your hand, squeezing it tightly.

You smiled as you entangled your fingers with him, rubbing his knuckles reassuringly.

You and Sherlock rode a carriage back to 221B Baker Street, and Sherlock never let go of your hand.

You joked at how nervous he seemed, reassuring him they would be more than ecstatic to see him again.

Sherlock kept quiet the whole time as he suddenly asked how you felt about him, knowing how he made you wait and how much he changed.

Caught by surprise, you asked if that was why he was so nervous this whole time, and he confirmed your suspicions.

You breathed out a smile as you gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, saying you still loved him after all this time, and even if he changed, that just meant you would get to know and fall in love with the new sides of him.

You felt Sherlock loosen up as he sighed in relief, leaning towards you as he breathed out: "That's good to hear..."

After the reunion with everyone, Sherlock walked you home, hoping to spend more time with you.

You talked about what happened during the three years, how you've been, his adventures and travels.

What surprised you was how he was planning to travel again despite just arriving back in London, this time with you by his side, showing you to places he thought you would or wanted you to see.

It was quite evident with how much souvenir he got for you (he hid it behind some bushes by your place so you wouldn't get overwhelmed and it wouldn't get stolen)

And how he even bought you a new dress made with the best fabric abroad, hoping you would wear it for the dinner so you would match.

Even during dinner, Sherlock stayed by your side and practically shielded you from Billy the Kid... who happily told you how much the great detective missed you during your absence, even with William confirming his claims.

Despite how awkward it is to hear how much Sherlock shared about you with his friends, it made you happy how Sherlock never stopped thinking about you.

During dinner, you noticed how Billy and William would glance at Sherlock as if waiting for something.

You asked the two what was going on, but they would deny it or brush it off as nothing.

Sherlock, on the other hand, regrets getting caught ring shopping by the two back in America.

Sherlock had to pull the two away after dinner, saying to keep it a secret from you until he felt it was the right time.

Sherlock knew he had a lot to make up with you with how he left, and he plans to make it right.

He already has dates planned to rekindle the fire, hoping to slowly dissolve the distance between you two as he waits for you to reach the same place he is now.

No matter how long it is, even if it's another three years, he plans to prove how much he loves you and ask for your hand in marriage when you both feel ready.

Once the lockdown lifted, an armored vehicle escorted Tov from the Alien Stage back to Cassio’s house.

When Tov finally got out of bed the next day, Wren was waiting for her in the living room.

“There’s the luckiest girl in the world!”

Her mask was white instead of its usual pink. It matched her hair.

Tov wondered if she ever took the damn thing off.

But more importantly:

“How the fuck did you get in here?”

“Someone’s awfully pissy today.” Wren snickered.

Tov leveled her with a look, “I almost died last night. Again.”

“Which is exactly why I came over. We need to strategize for the final round.”

“I already have a strategy.”

“Throw that one out,” Wren said waving her hand, “You won’t win with it.”

“Excuse me?”

“I said you won’t win with it.”

Tov narrowed her eyes, “How can you be so sure?”

“Because it won’t be like Round 10.”

Tov’s irritation shifted to confusion, “What does Round 10 have to do with the finals?”

“Sit down and I’ll explain.”

Part of Tov wanted to argue; refuse to yield to Wren’s brute force way of engaging her in conversation.

But another part — a fragile, trembling part — wanted to know what Wren had in mind.

She couldn’t risk another round ending so close. And it was clear now that her current strategy wasn’t working.

Lightning had already struck twice.

Tov feared fate would not be so kind to her a third time.

Reluctantly, she sat down on the couch across from Wren. “Okay,” she said, sighing. “I’m listening.”

Wren didn’t speak right away.

She was quiet. Thoughtful.

She tilted her head slightly to the side, as if trying to make sense of something hidden in Tov’s expression.

“You’re running from something.” She said, finally.

Tov blinked. “What?”

“I could hear it in your voice, in Round 26 and Round 29.” Wren said, as if that explained anything. “Since then I’ve been wondering what it could be, but I think I know now.”

She met Tov’s eyes then, knowing.

“You loved Himei.”

It’s a statement, not a question. And it seized her heart in a vice grip.

Before Tov could open her mouth to ask how she knew that, Wren cut her off.

“You didn’t have to tell me. It’s easy to see. You talked about her all the time in your interviews.” Wren’s tone changed to something more somber. “That, and you nearly died of a broken heart when she lost.”

Oh.

Right.

All of the air rushed out of Tov.

You were there. You saw how devastated I was.

I’m still devastated now.

“When you performed last round, you looked at the stars. But you didn’t look at her stars.”

Another statement.

She couldn’t even argue.

Wren was right.

When Tov sang to the stars of the people she’d lost, she found comfort in Moran’s thought bubble, and Flor’s bunny ears, and Lang’s starburst.

She didn’t look for Himei’s spider lily.

She couldn’t bring herself to.

Tov barely won the round as it was.

If she’d thought about anything related to Himei on that stage, she would’ve crumbled and lost.

Even thinking about her constellation now pinched something tender in her chest.

Wren’s tone softened, “You haven’t grieved her, have you?”

Have I?

Tov thought back to Round 24.

She didn’t remember anything between when Himei was shot and waking up in the hospital with Wren at her bedside telling her she had a heart attack.

After that, she’d spent several days recovering; heavily medicated and in and out of consciousness to let her heart rest.

Then came the message. The song. The beacon of hope.

Tallis.

She and Akane tied. A coin flip decided their fate. Akane took matters into her own hands.

Lang self destructed.

Another round too close for comfort. The lockdown. Jae’s rescue.

And now—

Tov hesitated.

Had she really grieved Himei?

So much had happened since her death, one thing after another.

Did Tov truly have the time to?

“No,” she said, her voice thick.

Stray tears ran down her cheeks.

Fuck, not again.

I don’t want to cry anymore.

She scrubbed the wetness away with the palm of her hand. “Not really, no.”

“When was the last time you looked at her stars?”

“The night before Round 24,” she said, sniffling.

After she kissed me like she was afraid.

After I told her I hated when she did that.

“Don't kiss me afraid. Just kiss me.”

I pleaded with the stars to protect her, but it didn’t work.

Tov couldn’t meet Wren’s eyes anymore.

She hated being torn open like this, over and over again.

Strapped to a cold slab and dissected for an emotional autopsy.

“You grieve people with the stars.” Wren said. “Naming constellations after them is sort of a release for you. But Himei and Tallis already had constellations named for them, so you didn’t have that release. You’re still bottling up all of your grief for Himei.”

Tov’s thoughts snagged on Wren’s words.

Grief for Himei.

Not grief for Himei and Tallis.

“How did I release my grief for Tallis?”

The corners of Wren’s eyes creased in a smile, clearly pleased that Tov picked up on her choice of words.

“You sang.” She said. “And that’s why you won Round 10.”

Tov frowned, “What do you mean?”

“The emotion in your voice in that round is why you won by such a large margin.” She said. “All of your performances since then have been great, but they’re missing the emotion that made Round 10 so special. You sang for Tallis then. Now, if you want to win, you need to sing for Himei.”

“I can’t—”

“Yes, you can.” Wren countered. “You’ve done it before.”

Tov let out a humorless laugh, “Yeah, well, it fucking hurt then too.”

“I’m not saying it won’t.” Wren said lightly. “But you need to embrace it. Use that hurt. Let it out in your song. That’s what people want to see from you.”

“They don’t get to have my grief.”

“Tov,” Wren’s tone turned serious, “You can’t run from this. Remember what I said in the hospital? It’s win or die. Let Himei help you win.”

“No—” Tov said quickly, sharply. Far more harsh than she wanted.

She took a deep breath and forced it out through her nose, ignoring the sting of her own words.

It's not her fault.

It's not anyone's fault.

That's the hardest part, right?

Tov pulled her knees up to her chest, “I told you. I can’t… I can’t do it.”

Wren sighed.

“If you can’t do it for yourself, then do it for her.”

Tov didn’t respond.

The two sat in silence as the minutes ticked by.

Wren was the one to break the tension.

“Well, I’ll let you think about it. Don’t wait too long to make a decision.” She said, getting to her feet.

Tov kept her head down, rubbed too raw to say anything without snapping.

“The skies will be pretty clear tonight,” She heard Wren say from somewhere near the door. “It’s a perfect time for stargazing.”

Night fell.

Both too soon and not soon enough.

Cassio wasn’t home yet.

Tov had been alone with her thoughts for hours, staring unseeingly out the window as the sun sank below the horizon.

Wren’s parting words still played on a loop in her head.

“The skies will be pretty clear tonight. It’s a perfect time for stargazing.”

Tov knew what she was trying to say:

“Go look for Himei in the stars.”

Her gaze lingered on the balcony doors.

She knew what awaited her would be painful. More painful than anything she’d ever had to confront before.

But even if she didn’t want to admit it, Wren was right.

If Tov wanted to keep living, keep honoring the ones she lost and stay close to those she still had, she needed to win against Cirrus.

Ignoring the grief would not make it go away.

It wouldn’t bring Himei back either.

Her death was a wound Tov had been trying to stitch with her eyes closed.

That was never going to work.

She had to start from scratch.

Undo the mess she’d made thus far.

With her heart in her throat, Tov rose from the roots she’d grown on the couch.

She focused on putting one foot in front of the other, rather than the heartache that was yet to come.

With one hand on the door handle, she took a deep breath.

Cut it open.

Let it bleed.

Then you can heal.

Tov pushed the door open and let the cool evening air inside.

As she stepped out onto the balcony, a wave of deja vu washed over her.

She hadn’t been out here since Azure died in Round 1.

That felt like a lifetime ago now.

But the night sky looked just as it did then, cloudless and star filled.

Tov hadn’t dared to look for Himei’s constellation in Round 29.

But she didn’t fight it this time.

She let her gaze drift naturally, like a moth to a vibrant flame, until the stars came together to form spider lily petals.

Tov gripped the fabric of her shirt over her heart.

Her bones ached and her blood sung.

“Hi, Mei.” She whispered, finally letting the tears blurring her vision flow freely.

Himei had told her years ago to call her by that nickname, but Tov never did.

It didn’t feel right to her.

Until now.

With a bittersweet taste on her tongue, a small, unbidden smile graced her lips.

“It’s been a while, yeah?”

Wren’s bluntness has finally forced Tov to rip the bandaid off about Himei.

Tov hasn’t grieved Himei mostly because she hasn’t had time to. But she also knows that the process will be very painful.

Himei is an integral part of who Tov is as a person. She’s also the reason why Tov has come to know and love so many other people, like Tallis and Dian.

Acknowledging Himei’s death will change Tov irreparably. She knows this. Thats why she has tried to avoid doing it for so long.

And while it has been a huge motivator for her to keep going, finding out that Tallis is alive inadvertently helped Tov continue to “cover up” the fact that Himei is gone. Though she isn’t doing this consciously. It’s more of a coping mechanism.

But this change has affected her ability to perform. The audience feels her lacking something. If she wants to win against Cirrus in the finals, she can’t run from that something anymore.

What are rare-pairs that you’re passionate about?

obviously the first answer that comes to mind is luck and melvi from baccano!! meechi and i spent a long time developing the relationship between them, so it'd be weirder if i didn't have an attachment to that ship despite the frankly appalling lack of actual canon interaction (although they do share a scene, which is more than can be said for a lot of my favorite rarepairs).

i'm also passionate about almost every ship i've had with twain---and since he's pretty niche as it is, those are abysmally rare by default. i'll rattle them out quickly because there's a lot: fitzgerald, louisa, lovecraft, and poe from bsd, william moriarty and sebastian moran from moriarty the patriot, york from red vs blue, luck gandor from baccano, and most recently i've been absolutely head over heels for the ship me and meechi are writing between him and dominique de sade from the case study of vanitas.

also, i have a secret fondness for some old ships i wrote with writing partners who have since left tumblr that i haven't gotten over. cahir/dandelion, cahir/iorveth, cahir/regis, and dandelion/regis from the witcher, kumo baren (rengoku ni warau)/zhongli (genshin), roland fortis/vanitas from the case study of vanitas, snow lily (servamp)/hyoubu kyousuke (the unlimited hyoubu kyousuke)... anyway. there's a lot like that.

I think the saddest part abt losing the baby for fl would be losing the last thing she had of liam. It was mostly because the baby was an extension of her dead lover that had her so distraught

Fl would still be wearing traditional black mourning clothes when William sees her again and all the people who didn’t know abt William coming back would ever so confused when she suddenly starts wearing other colours again

Thing is with fl is that she’s actually really understanding but she doesn’t show it if that makes sense. Like she lets William back in really easily because she knows that even tho he was selfish for not finding her as soon as he could, she knows he was suffering a lot in her absence and physically too. She doesn’t think what he said to her before he jumped into the Thames was right but she sympathises with him bc she realises soon after that he was trying to push her away for a reason

Honestly fl and Liam are giving that one lyric in flawless by the neighbourhood “So, she put his heart in a bag, he wouldn't ask for it back He didn't want her to cry, she didn't want to be sad She said, you better not leave me This shit'll be fucked for days and weeks and months”

He keeps trying to sneak little looks at her because he thinks she got even prettier although tired, in his absence and he can’t take his eyes off her aww. The moment their relationship goes back to normal, they can actually love each other freely without having to worry about anything. Fl breaks off her engagement to liam wannabe and lives with him happily ever after and they have a bunch of kids who are little hybrids of them

I swear liam is on the very thin line between normal love & infatuation and then just insane obsession and low-key yandere type of love for fl. the shrine is such a funny concept tho like imagine one of his brothers sees his little collection of photos that he has of fl and him together. Gets worse after they get married 😭

Louis is og Charlie’s and og Lottie’s therapist u can’t tell me otherwise. He had to do couples counselling for fl and Liam except that wasn’t very hard tbh.

NAH THE BATHTUB 😭 THEYRE SO DOWN BAD. Only the other members of the gang’s bedrooms are safe. Every damn room is crazy 😭 they didn’t have much time. Had to make it count. Arguably Moran has had it the worst out of all of them. We make fun of him for being a cockblock but for him all of a sudden he’s walking in on some kid he’s known since said kid was a teenager getting pinned to a desk by his not actually wife

The only mtp characters I can imagine getting any sort of action would be Moran, James, possibly Albert?? John but that’s because he’s married. Patterson low-key a dilf like bros 40 and still looking fine. Most of the others have never even spoken to a woman let alone kissed one

I relate to liams crush situation. It’s usually platonic but the admiration makes it feel romantic if that makes sense. I’ve never had a proper proper crush on a guy before bc British dudes are NASTY unless they’re from mtp.

"He has to maintain a healthy life in order to fly and do…whatever it is that pigeons do…Promise me that you will feed him conscientiously and that you will talk to Director Holmes about a good feeding plan" said Louis. "I promise," said Albert. His fingers were trembling. He desperately wanted a drink, but this was his third day without touching alcohol. He could have. He could.

Wedding (Including a Modern AU Who's proposing? Well, technically they were married, Albert thought. They lived in the same house, shared a Netflix account and paid for it jointly. But legally they were brothers, even if they hadn't seen these people in years. Louis was on her chest, stroking her nipple. And before his other head thought he'd better go for a second round, Albert spoke up: "Will you marry me?" The blond raised his head, looking beautiful and confused. "Are you kidding?" he inquired. "No" she explained and pulled out the ring, hidden behind the headboard of the bed. "Louis James Moriarty, will you marry me?" he said and held up the simple gold ring.No blood covered diamonds for them. "Yes," Louis replied, smiling. "But what are we going to do if…?" "Don't worry about that, I already have a plan" Albert said and wrapped him in a hug. The world could burn for all he cared.

Would your wedding be small or grand? It would be intimate, because I think in this AU Albert was still working for the Queen of England's secret service. Arrangements of roses, lilies and daffodils. Albert and Louis would have fits in case something goes wrong during the wedding. If Albert's parents walk in, if the judge decides not to marry them… Fortunately, all went well, but Moran stopped a crazy ex of Louis' who had bypassed security and was going to say "I object because they are brothers, he introduced him to me as his older brother and told me not to worry". Helena, William and Sherlock's daughter, was the flower girl and Fred was the ring bearer.

Which guest was happier to see them get married? William cried tears of joy as his brothers kissed in front of the judge. Sherlock hugged him from behind and held out a handkerchief. *Albert calls his brother "the thing".
