genderfluid pandora rosier who spells themselves to look slightly different depending on what gender they are that day x bisexual lily evans who thinks pandora is actually multiple people (like siblings) and has the biggest crush on pandora in every gender (and lowkey panics when pandora asks her out bc she knows she likes pandora's "siblings" as well)

Sirius Black would wear a shirt that says "best dogfather ever" at Harry's birthday because him and James thinks it's hilarious and would laugh their ass off.

Severus Snape is literally the most important character of the entire Marauders' generation because the fate of all of them depends on him, and because, basically, they only exist, aside from giving Harry some parents and friends, to complete Snape's backstory. Without Snape, we wouldn’t even know what those people’s school years were like because it wouldn’t matter. It's to explain why Snape has issues, why he has that personality, why he switches sides, or why he helps Harry while simultaneously hating him that we get flashbacks and learn things about them. So, guys, you should show him a bit more respect because if you have a fandom, it's basically thanks to that character you constantly leave out of your fics filled with people with colored hair and 70s wizards behaving as if they went to school during the golden era of Gen Z.

james and lily in their friendship stage and james has resigned himself to thinking she only likes him platonically, whilst lily is calling him pretty and stealing sirius' 'potter' shirt to wear at james' quidditch matches and squeezing onto an armchair so she's half in his lap when there's another chair next to them and inviting him to the madame puddifoot's to hang out.

i love my characters a bit pathetic. you can have your BAMF perfect characters but me and my occasionally amazing occasionally embarrassing characters will be chilling in our little corner.
sirius? loserrr. he died because he left his house arrest and then laughed at his scary cousin. and it wasn’t even the killing curse! dude just fell back and died. regulus? he thought he really did something with the horcrux didn’t he? bae, all you did was die an unnecessarily painful death and create problems for the people who were actually useful. remus? what about remus wasn’t pathetic, really? grown man who was such an emotional coward that he didn’t tell anyone that the prisoner who allegedly got his best friends killed was a dog? james and lily? fucking losers. they had albus dumbledore offering to be their secret keeper, they could have been their Own secret keepers but noooo. they chose to prioritize “trust” over their son’s life? and then died because of switching the secret keeper? could never be me. peter? he lived as an actual fucking rat that literally belonged to percy weasley lmaoo. pandora? she literally died due to a failed experiment in front of her daughter. not only did you fuck up what you were doing, you actually just died doing it? barty? his father so bad he had to look at voldemort for approval. marlene? loser mess of a lesbian who forgets her own name the moment dorcas meadowes is anywhere near. evan? he lost his life and took a chunk of his killer’s nose with him. you go babe! seems like you got your revenge! mary? who?
finally, dorcas meadowes is my only exception to this pathetic character rule. i am not sorry i just do not find her embarrassing in the slightest. you’re embarrassing if you think otherwise. moral of the story is that dorcas is actually the best and the rest of them are losers.

Severus’ isolation after the exam is one of the reasons Lily’s attempt to get him to abandon his Slytherin ‘friends’ has never sat that well with me.
Because I get why she doesn’t like Mulciber, obviously, but instead she’s asking him to alienate them for…who, exactly? She can’t even be bothered to wait to exchange two words after something really important to him, she’s off with her girlfriends without a second thought, and there’s no indication Sev was hoping she’d wait so clearly this is a well established pattern (strange, considering he’s supposedly a possessive incel stalker, that he doesn’t interfere with her social life!) She appears to have made no moves to introduce Severus to any non-Slytherins or join any clubs together. She’s so over him that she doesn’t even address him personally while her housemates have him strung up by the ankle. And obviously he’s picked up on her indifference, or he wouldn’t be begging for reassurance they’re still best friends. I find it hard to condemn him for not cutting off the Slytherins for Lily’s sake when Lily’s so chronically unsupportive and unavailable. Total isolation does horrible things to people’s brains.
And then of course there’s the fact that Lily’s crush + hangers on have ensured the only space in the castle potentially free from violence is the Slytherin dorms they can’t enter, where Sev is also at considerable disadvantage as a son of a muggle sleeping alongside pureblood supremacists. But this also doesn’t cross her mind. I get that she’s a teenage girl, but 16 year olds are not incapable of putting themselves in another’s shoes! (I’ll add the disclaimer before I get jumped on that ofc I understand that Severus fails to do this for Lily too).
Severus is an incel stalker, but Lily has a friendgroup that talks shit on Severus and that clearly is her priority, but he does not interfere or try to prevent her from hanging out with them, unlike Lily who tells him to not spend time with the only people sho seem to at least somewhat accept him (by the way she doesn't assign anything bad to Avery, and I find it interesting that Sirius doesn't mention Mulcibier when talking about "the gang" at all, but he mentions Avery too. Maybe Avery was closer to Severus, and he was a more decent person overall? also Lily says she detests "some" people he's hanging around with, so maybe there were Slytherins she didn't dislike that much, like Rosier and Wilkies? I don't trust Sirius too much though, he mentions Bella and Rodolfus who couldn't possibly study with Snape).
Lily not adressing Severus during the SWM irks me so much. Like this is the №1 reason I support the "Lily was a deeply imperfect friend" agenda even more than "you're ungrateful to James Potter" stuff, honestly. Like this is charity what she does, not backing up her friend. Not only she doesn't attack them, but she doesn't help him to get his wand back or unbind him – all her attention is clearly on James. Severus isn't treated like a subject of the social dynamics, but more like an object of pity, and we know he's very proud. And I wonder if their friendship was already so rotten, or if Lily and Severus weren't known to be very close publically?... At least the adult Marauders never refer to it, so it wasn't a very big part of Lily or Severus from their perspective it seems. Clearly it was known they were friends, but she might not want to be associated with Severus more than necessary in their later years, since her other friends disliked him. At least that would explain why doesn't she approach him after the exam or vice versa, why she seems to be very, very impersonal during SWM, and why no-one ever (except Petunia) refers to Snily friendship from a Watsonian perspective.
Severus begging for the reassurance they are best friends😭😭😭 Too bad we don't hear the previous lines of theirs, I wonder to which phrase/situation he reacted like that. They probably discussed something related to his affiliations, but I don't think it was about Avery and Mulcibier all the way before – she seems to bring them up rather then continue a long lasting argument against them (also this is obvious it's not an argument they have for the fifth year straight. like Severus couldn't possibly be closely associated with them for a long time before that scene). I can imagine a lot of things from which the dialogue might go to Mulcibier and then to the Marauders, but yeah, that "I thought we were supposed to be friends" line sounds desperate asf... And how he can't contain his happiness when she says she hates James, and forgets about defending Mulcibier! All it had required was Lily supporting him in his rightful anger the tiniest bit!
Severus was pretty selfish as a teen, but no-one cared for him. Was even he himself supposed to not care about him? Well, he'd just die then (non-figuratuvely at this point). Severus was a kid from a violent neighbourhood, with abusive and neglectful parents, didn't have any really close friends who'd stand up for him, and his abusers were supported by the school authorities and the student body. Of course he would do what serves him best in that situation, which is sticking to Avery and Mulcibier! Again, Severus' loneliness in SWM shows they weren't emotionally close at all at least by then, he probably just spent time with them (as you've said, they live together and every place in that school that is not Slytherin dorm room is pretty unsafe for Severus, and also the Marauders might not attack him with other slytherins around, when we know that Lily's presence only heated James up from his glances to her in SWM) and Lily asked Severus to abandon even that without giving him any other options.
Also, my favourite ignored thing about it is that this argument arises just after the Prank had happened "the other day". Might a silenced murder attempt intensify Severus' wish to support Mulcibier, I wonder?

(Can We Be Friends) Pt. 3
A/n: Hi everyone :). First, thank you for the love on the last chapter, and thank you especially to anyone who followed me after reading it. It really encourages me to keep going. This next chapter is a little shorter, but it has more Sirius content.
My classes just started so I won't be able to write as much, so expect either shorter chapters or slower updates. Also please lmk if it's getting hard to tell when the scenes are meant to be set, I just wanna make sure it's clear when the flashbacks are happening (not that it isn't 90% flashbacks at the moment :/). Anyway, thanks again for reading and I hope you enjoy this next one.
Warnings: Heavy use of y/n, small arguments, cursing, poor grammar perhaps
Chapter 3
That detention drug on and on for (Y/n) as she worked with Sirius to polish the trophies in the cases outside the great hall. For the first half hour neither of you said a word, until Sirius broke the silence. “I wonder how long this has been a punishment for” He wondered aloud. “Huh?” she said back, not fully understanding what he meant, “Like, I wonder who the first person was that was sentenced to polish these damn things” He said, scrubbing a little extra at a particularly stubborn smudge before giving up with a shrug and placing it back on the shelf. She eyed him, she looked a bit taken aback at what he had said, what an odd thing to bring up and why try to start a conversation now? “I have no clue, but they definitely get their fair share of polishing.” He laughed a little at that “yeah mostly thanks to me and James, but somehow they’re always so goddamn dusty” he replied. She huffed softly and he looked over at her. Some part of him was pleased to have gotten a pleasant reaction, so he tried again. “Do you think Filch comes down here at night and sets that mangy cat on them?” That made her look over at him, a bewildered smile creeping across her feature, “I mean there is a troubling amount of cat hair in here.” He said with an exasperated look, holding her eyes for a few seconds before she began laughing. It was a breathy thing, not a full blown laugh. More like a placating chuckle, something you would do in response to a mischievous child or an annoying animal, but it was a laugh nonetheless.
They went on like that for a while, Sirius making little jokes and jabs and her either correcting him or rolling her eyes. It made the last few hours bearable, even if they did drag on and on. When they finished Sirius had offered to walk her back down to her dorm, but she had refused him. “And why would you do that?” She had questioned, giving him an incredulous look. “I was trying to be polite, but if you want to be a rude ass then I won’t bother” He retorted, crossing his arms over his chest. She just huffed, rolling her eyes and turning on her heal in the direction of the dungeons. He thought about following her, about continuing to pester her all the way back to the common room. But he stopped himself, why exactly did he want to do that? He didn’t even like her, so why was he bubbly inside every time she turned her attention his way? It was probably the sleep deprivation. Yeah, it was late at night and she was a pretty girl, his mind wasn’t functioning properly. That’s all.

Now, a year later, he still got that feeling in his chest whenever she looked at him. And now he had an easier time swallowing that information, not that he planned to do anything with it. Over the course of a year (Y/n) had managed to prove herself much more tolerable than he originally thought. He could even say that he enjoyed the time he spent with her, although they didn’t get much time alone. She was incredibly smart, not only academically but she was witty too. He had heard some of the little remarks she and Peter threw back and forth, it was hard to stifle his laughter, knowing either of them they likely would have stopped had they known he was listening. She was also incredibly insightful, always dolling out rational advice whenever anyone asked it of her, and on occasion even when they didn’t ask. That was something he remembered about her from when she was younger. She always thought she knew best, and sometimes she was right, more often than he’d have liked to admit.
It was something that gave Severus a bit of an edge on him and his friends. They didn’t always think things through when exacted their revenge on the Slytherin boy, he on the other hand thought everything out. The four had originally tacked that up to him alone, but upon further inspection they had found it to be her who toned down his theatrics in favor of more realistic ideas. At the time it had made Sirius bitter towards (Y/n), anyone who helped the enemy was an enemy as well. But now that he was older and now that he had the chance to see that logic work in his favor, he didn’t mind it so much.
⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆☆☆☆☆✦☆☆☆☆✭✭✭☆☆☆✦☆☆☆✭✭✭☆☆☆☆✦☆☆☆☆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆
It was a chilly morning at Hogwarts, the late January air swept through the castle and nipped at the ears and noses of the students who were attempting to settle back in after break. There was a quiet sort of atmosphere in the halls, but that wouldn’t last long. No, quiet wasn’t something James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter were conducive to, and they didn’t plan to start now.
The plan was brilliant really, or at least that's what they thought, although it wasn’t exactly novel. The plan was to set off fireworks interrupting Filch's yearly welcome back speech; they assumed everyone would be thankful for the distraction, especially since Filch's “speech” was typically no more than a droning tirade about the new rules he’d be instituting for the upcoming year. After six years of hearing the same thing reiterated twice over every semester, the boys were ready to shake things up a little. The four weren’t quiet about anything, this was one of many things they did not have in common with (Y/n)- who had made an accidental habit of eavesdropping due to her quiet footsteps and unassuming demeanor. One thing she did have in common with the four miscreants though was her inability to leave something well enough alone.
“You could not have picked a worse way to go about that.” She interrupted, making Peter jump three feet out of his seat. “Godric (Y/n), where did you even come from” Sirius sighed. “It’s the library, Sirius. Anyone could be here at any time, and you four aren’t the most perceptive when you're scheming.” She said, snidely as she rounded one of the couches to sit beside Remus. He smiled down at her as she sat, an action that did not go unnoticed by Sirius who could not help the eye roll that slipped out.
“And how would you go about it?” The taller boy said, turning his body to face the girl next to him. She turned to match him saying “Well, I wouldn’t hide the fireworks behind the tapestry near the Hufflepuff table, the fourth years sit at that end and they’ve been learn their Incendio charm this week.” Remus nodded, immediately understanding the issue at hand. Peter on the other hand looked utterly lost, so she continued. “They won’t be much good to you if they set off early and burn down the castle.” The blonde let out a small ‘Oh’ and turned to the two boys seated on the couch opposite them. “How were we supposed to know that?” James questioned, “I don’t know, maybe you should be in touch with your student body. Since you are vying so hard for head boy next year, Potter.” She raised an eyebrow at him, to which he simply sat back smirking “Fair enough, (L/n).” “I don’t see you throwing out better ideas.” Sirius finally chimed in. “Actually, if you hid them in the alcove behind the Slytherin table you have a much lower chance of anyone finding them.” The raven haired boy scoffed loudly at that, “Please, you can’t expect us to hide them behind the snake den, that’s the worst idea I’ve ever heard” He said, leaning toward her. The three other boys exchanged glances, it wasn’t uncommon for Sirius and (Y/n) to argue for the hell of it, but the tension had seemed tighter recently. “Why shouldn’t you? It’s a perfectly fine plan, unless you are fully incapable of seeing reason” She spat back at him, leaning towards the boy across from her. “Oh I’m incapable of seeing reason is it, how would we even get back to them?” He added; James, Remus, and Peter exchanged yet another glance, he had a point. “Just pretend that you’re coming to see me.” She said simply, her sentence punctuated by the realization that their faces were mere inches apart.
With that realization they both sat back almost immediately, and for a moment (Y/n) almost thought she saw a slight tinge of red on the Black boy's face. But by the time he was sitting back in his seat it was almost imperceptible, if had even been there at all. “Well then. I suppose that would work,” he said quietly. “Perfect!” James said, clapping his hands together as a means to diffuse whatever had just occurred. “So I guess I’ll see you tomorrow evening” (Y/n) said, standing to leave. “Goodnight,  (Y/n/n)” The boy next to her said softly. “Goodnight, Remus,” She returned. “Night, (Y/n)” Peter chirped, giving her a genuine smile. She smiled back at him “Night, Pete”, she simply nodded at the two other boys before making her exit. Upon her absence the three of them turned to an unusually quiet Sirius, but with a hand raised in front of him he stopped them before they could begin to speculate “shut it.”

college au with art student regulus who james goes to asking him to paint him a portrait of lily and at first regulus says no he doesn't do commissions and he wants nothing less than to paint james potter's girlfriend especially since he's been in love with him since he even knew what love was but also he can't say no to james and ends up doing it
that's where his obsession starts. he just wanted to start by sketching her by all the pictures james gives of her to practice for the real thing. he doesn't intend to fill up an entire notebook just of her. he doesn't intend to start noticing her everywhere and sketching her when he should be paying attention to whatever lecture he's in. she starts poisoning his mind, and he can't stop but notice every little thing about her. to any other person he would look crazy hell if anyone saw what was in his notebook they'd probably call someone on him, but he holds it close to his chest no one can know.
james starts showing up at his studio asking for updates on how the painting is going and at some point he just decides to stay there for hours while regulus works. eventually he asks for lessons so maybe one day james could paint as beautiful as regulus can. regulus is weak and says yes, letting him practice on him as he works on his own painting.
regulus keeps delaying making progress on the painting though, and it's all blurry whether it's to keep james as company or to keep lily as his muse. it's all tangled up in his head. he just knows he loathes lily for everything that she is, for how brilliant and dazzling she is and how she has james wrapped around her finger and all regulus has is his attention for maybe a few hours a week.
one day regulus loses track of his journal and lily sees it, she thinks james was the one who had drawn them (she knew he was practicing... she just didn't know he was that good at it.) she sees herself in a way she never had before, each brushstroke reveals something about herself she never thought to look at. it's only until she walks into regulus' art studio and sees the painting that she starts to question if it even was james who made them at all... and then she finds james actual notebook and sees endless drawings of regulus... and she doesn't quite know what to think anymore
