The cast of Blades of Light and Shadow and their Perfect Match types

Ever since I did my Blades/Elementalists attunement crossover to mark the anniversary of the Blades series, I’ve known I wanted to do something like this to mark the wide release of book three, and I love me some Perfect Match and the types system, so what better way than by incorporating that into a piece?

So the match types you see here are based on what we’ve seen of these characters up to book two, so any character evolution they may undergo in book three is not accounted for. You might also notice that, when deciding each character’s type, I went off of the core four traits instead of the match name or description, unless I needed a tiebreaker.

Finally, MC’s type is pretty subjective, as I’m sure everyone has a different idea of what their MCs are like, so for the sake of this edit set, Raine’s type is based on which traits she displays most in canon.

THAT’S the scholar type #I just thought it was interesting when I noticed that #other fun facts is that the only two ties were with Imtura and MC and that’s when I needed the type tiebreaker #I don’t remember now what exactly Adventurer was tied with for Imtura. maybe Champion for sincerity.#I just know that when I realized I was tied between whatever it was and Adventurer it was obvious to me she should be an Adventurer #I believe MC’s tie may have been with Best Friend for sweetness #but again—between Best Friend and jetsetting Diplomat it was a no-brainer for MC #final fun fact is that I was a bit shocked when Tyril and Valax yielded the same type but as soon as it sank in it felt so obvious #they’re both so driven with their causes to make the world a better place. the fact that they go about it differently doesn’t change that #anyway ramble over shoutout to anyone who got this far

I always find it a little funny and amusing the common "Corypheus's For I have seen the throne of the gods, and it was empty! is such a raw line, it goes so hard" because I've always been DEEPLY unimpressed with it. it comes across for me as super tryhard and edgy. I can't be impressed with it because it feels like it's TRYING to impress me, it's straining too hard to be A Good Line that it sounds forced. like, I don't even think it's the best line of that MONOLOGUE, let alone the whole scene.

#“I will not suffer even an unknowing rival” is a better line tbh #“I have gathered the will to return under no name but my own‚ to champion withered Tevinter and correct this Blighted world” is also better #it's also a bit of a ? when you remember Genitivi wrote that the Golden City and the Maker's throne was unattended after the First Sin #suggesting that at least SOME people in the south believe as is that the Golden City and the throne is empty #so like who is Corypheus trying to impress here. like yes you did find the Throne empty. some in the Chantry already say you did.#yes yes the silence of the Maker and his abandoned throne we all heard of it #(inb4: YEs I know he was following the Old Gods but he's trying to monologue about this at like the Chantry or someone representing it)#tbh now I'm thinking way too hard about this because— actually I won't get into dogma and theology and faith and Andrastianism #because the point really is more that this line doesn't impress me bc it's tryhard and less about its intersection with creeds #DA things

Been thinking recently about a universe where Jordan did just join Team Dianite. Like it would be genuinely really interesting to see Jordan in a situation where he has other followers to fall back on and be with.

But also I keep thinking about a while after they've all settled into the new normal of Team Dianite just having a new member, Mianite appears and basically dumps a battered and annoyed Capsize on Tucker and Sonja. She's standoffish and refuses to join either team because she "already has a goddess" though she doesn't call herself champion.

But basically Capsize trying to figure out which of the four idiots (affectionate) she's with was meant to be Ianite's champion, while also trying to free Ianite herself since, as far as she knows, she's the last person who can do it.

#mianite #captain capsize #the idea would be that mianite rescued capsize from the attack on ianerea #so capsize has no idea if any of her crew is alive and vice versa #so she's already annoyed at having to find ianite's champion who knew so little of her that they didn't accept their title #but she also just feels the absolute weight of the world on her shoulders #which i just think would lead to a different dynamic with the group #(also like nice reunion scene when rupert and redbeard find their way to the island)
