Restrain
You never thought you would get arrested, especially not for murder, especially not by aaron hotchner. And you most definitely never thought you’d enjoy it.
Reader is a suspect?? But reader is very much innocent ty. Hotch is arresting reader but unexpected feelings arise. Suspect!reader x bau!hotch. Flirty!reader. Maybe love at first sight if u look hard enough??? Hotch is interested but very conflicted. Mentions of alcohol and drunk driving, BUT reader did not drive under the influence of any kind. I truly do not know how an arrest would go down so this whole situation is wildly inaccurate.
If someone had told you at the start of the night that by the end of it, you would be arrested and suspected of committing a murder, you would’ve laughed in their face.
But thinking about it now, you wished that someone had been there to warn you about the sudden turn of events. What was supposed to be a fun girl’s night out quickly turned as sour as the drink you had previously ordered at the bar, when the night was still quite young and full of possibilities.
After bidding goodbye to your friends, you had hopped into your car and was on your way home to your soft bed, a pint of ice cream, and your favourite tv show when you first noticed the flashing nights. You weren’t too bothered at first— the road you were taking led directly to the most popular bars and nightclubs in your city, so it wasn’t strange that police cars often lined up on the side of the road late at night, hoping to catch the reckless driving that would no doubt ensue after a couple rounds on a Friday night.
What was strange however, was that the flashing lights were seemingly following you. Wild as you can be, you didn’t play with yours, or others lives like that. You were sure the mocktails you ordered were indeed ‘mock’, and you knew your driving was in no way a reflection of your state of body and mind because the only alcohol you could’ve possibly consumed were the fumes you breathed in from the drinks of your friends.
Pulling over, you rolled your windows down with an exasperated sigh. As the cold wind rushed in and hit your face, you were reminded of your now ruined plans. So much for ice cream. You waited for the vested officer to lean down before you spoke.
“How may I help you, off-,” you started.
“Out of the vehicle, now!”
Whatever calmness and willingness to cooperate flew out the open window the second the man began to yell. Taking note of his demeanour and the three bright, white letters on his navy vest, a hole immediately dig itself in your stomach.
“Offi- i mean, agent. I really don’t feel comfortable getting out of my car until I’m told the reason I’m being stalked by the fbi.”
The wall man stretched to his full height, crossing his arms as the rest of his team gathered around the scene. “This is a matter regarding a coworker of yours. We have reason to believe you were involved in his demise, the arrest warrant is in our vehicle. If you don’t wish to cooperate, we have the right to use force against you.”
You scoffed as you soaked in the absurdity of his words. “A- a warrant? For what? For murder? If that’s really the case and you have a warrant, I would like to see it, please”
There was a brief pause as the man made eye contact with a female agent, communicating without speaking a word. You almost got to breathe a breath of relief when the man turned and began to walk back to his car, but his abrupt stop in his steps lodged a pocket of air in your throat.
“That’s enough.”
Before you could stop him, the door flew open and he leaned across your waist to unclip your seatbelt. Your panic combined with fear didn’t allow you to think of it much, but in that moment, you couldn’t help the untimely thoughts plaguing your mind.
You couldn’t help that he smelt of mint and pine and whatever was making your stomach flutter.
Thankfully, those bubbles of intrigue popped when the agent grabbed your arm and began dragging you out of the car. The anxious enjoyment turned to just plain anxiousness, and timely thoughts of a murder, an interrogation, and jail filled your head. Once he closed the door, he pushed your bare chest against the cold metal, twisting your arms behind your back rather harshly.
You hissed at the burning pain, turning your head the best you could to glance at his face. “Easy, baby,” you snickered.
He didn’t look back at you, focusing instead on fastening the cuffs around your wrists. “It’s agent hotchner. And you’re under arrest. You have the right to remain silent. Trust me, It’ll make your life a lot easier if you cooperated. Anything you say and do can and will be…”
Maybe there really was something in those mocktails. Maybe it was how tired and and exhausted you were. It was probably because the hard, metal handcuffs were digging into your skin and the fact that your low top and short skirt provided no coverage or warmth in the chilly night. But most of all, it was probably because of the way agent hotchner was rubbing against your back.
Regardless of why or how or what, you couldn’t stop the words from tumbling out.
“I’ve never been known as one to cooperate, sir,” you whispered. Arching your back lightly to raise yourself off the side of the car, your backside rubbing into him as you spread your feet ever so slightly, you nudged your nose against the crook of his neck to savour the stubbled skin and his smell. Your already short skirt was riding up your thighs, and you knew, you knew he felt your soft skin, you knew he saw what was underneath the small piece of fabric, and you knew he didn’t want you to stop.
But he put on a good act, despite his rosy cheeks and hitched breathing. After a beat, he crashed your torso back against the car door, tightening the cuffs to the fullest, leaning down to your ear. You groaned again at the bruise you could already feel forming, but still, you couldn’t help the smile that graced your face.
“It’s hotchner— agent hotchner. And i have ways to handle you. Ways to subdue you. Ways to break you and make you do exactly as I say. So get it together, and follow my orders. ”
Shivers traveled down your spine from his deep voice and the warm breath brushing against your ear. You stayed silent this time, choosing instead to plop your head down and let him guide you to the back of a police vehicle.
As you bent your knees to get in, you felt his hand on the top of your head, leading your body to a sitting position. Once sat, you tilted your head, causing his hand to fall from your hair to your cheek, and you smirked at the way he flinched and pulled back.
Because you were miserably restrained, he had to pull the seatbelt over your body for you, the upper half of his form leaning over you as he clipped the contraption into the cavity. You both felt the belt spring into place, you both heard the subtle ‘click’ of the seatbelt, and yet neither of you moved. He turned his head back gently, but he refused to look at you. He simply looked over his shoulder at nothing, even as you bore your eyes into him. Your breathing became faster the longer he stayed, the longer you felt his presence and the longer his scent filled the small space.
His hands rested to the right of your bare legs, and you didn’t miss the way they seemed to clench and squeeze at the seat beneath them. He moved them slowly, and just for a brief moment, his finger grazed your thighs. Just when he shifted his eyes to look at you and his lips parted for words to spill, a voice called out to him.
“hotch! We gotta go.”
He stole one more glance at you before retreating from the car, standing straight and slamming the door shut. He looked down at you. An intangible look swirled in his eyes. Perhaps one of restrain, made up by the many factors that made him who he was. He dropped his head for a minute, as if savouring the moment and the decision he made right in that moment. Looking back at you one last time, a tiny smile rested on his lips.
“Sit still. Behave.”
You felt the heat unfurling on your cheeks as you looked him up and down. Finally, your eyes met his through your eyelashes, the same tiny smile controlling your lips.
“Yes, agent hotchner.”

went through ur resident evil tags, saw everything and felt for the fandom part big time
what was ur experience with it like? what could u possibly NOT like about it? pour ur heart out 🙏
Every old fandom that blows up suddenly with newcomers age ranged between preteens to young 20 somethings is going to be insufferable. You get the "fandom veterans" who've been in it since the first game dropped being "well actually" about every damn thing AND the newer fans deciding to change how the narrative functions to fit into what's currently popular and modern. It's why a lot of the infighting is occurring.
I'm a newer fan, but I am older than most of the fans that have recently gotten into RE these last few years so I'm in this weird spot. I've already stated in past posts I don't give a fuck what the directors or voice actors intended to do with the characters because if the game or movie doesn't show it, then they failed in executing their goals. Leon's VA can say whatever he wants about his Cleon intentions, but since their dialogue nor the execution of it didn't ring as romantic then guess what! It's not romantic! He just has a ship preference! The directors said Death Island was supposed to be Jill's comeback, but guess who gets most of the lines? Leon! Some comeback right? Guess who FAILED in executing their intentions so it doesn't count as canon. Those guys!
I also don't care about what information is found in old game faq magazines from the early 2000s that "prove" one backstory or another. Is it interesting to now how the fandom behaved when certain games and movies dropped and their responses to it? Yes! Is it cool to look at interviews from past VA's, face claims, mocap actors, directors, and writers to understand their inspiration when it comes to creating those stories? Absolutely! Is it fun to have this knowledge because you like the media and there's a lot of fan made stuff to sift through already? Of course! Are you an asshole when you start lauding any of this information as canon without being able to point out exactly where it happens in the game I'm playing or movie I'm watching?
Yes.
Yes, you're an asshole.
I've fumbled with my own takes and interpretations. Nobody's perfect. I get information wrong sometimes and end up doubling down when I should step away. We've all done it. Sometimes the block button hits you before you can apologize, and you just gotta live with it. I interpret things differently in and out of the moment. Everyone does. Why else would there be a whole subset of people who market Piers as this really important character for shipping reasons but then decide to magically absolve him of the very real and dangerous power he had over an amnesiac Chris in RE6? Why else would there be a lack of people giving Ethan the same smoke they give Mia for not viewing Eveline as a child but a thing that needed to be killed? Why else would there be people who treat Leon like a poorly written woman character by giving him a pussy and making him a crybaby bottom who needs to be babysat and comforted and gets pregnant by Chris or Krauser, but there's also strange lack of any trans woman narratives for him despite many artists or authors being trans themselves? Different interpretations is why! :) (Side note: I love trans man Leon narratives. Most of you do not write him the way he is once you've given him a pussy tho.)
I haven't left the fandom. Like with all of my media interests, after the initial boom where it consumes me is gone, I just go to my little corner and make things I like with the hope I run into a few people who also like it. I'm still in the tags looking for news updates, finding art that I like, and skimming past other people's perspectives on the story. I'm also going to the biohazard event in USJ either this month or next month.
I don't know if you wanted a vent post with like a numbered list of issues I have with the fandom. Since you've read through my RE stuff, you've probably seen me touch on all my issues with fanon in passing at least once or twice. If you're looking for something more specific, you'll have to clarify tho. Thanks for the message!

Notes: This was so bad, I actually wound up pretty much rewriting the whole chapter line-by-line anyway. Of course, this means there’s likely to be more typos, so don’t be shy about telling me you found something.
Master List
Chapter 1: Meeting
“Here we are, Miss.”
Your driver’s voice barely cut through the haze you found yourself in while sitting in the back of his car. The brain fog remained as you groggily gathered your belongings and the car slid to a smooth stop. Yawning, you stepped out into the thick heat of Japan with only the vaguest memory of the long flight and subsequent car ride that had deposited you just outside your grandmother’s house in Namimori. You’d hardly noticed your arrival before your driver left you there.
You felt strangely vulnerable without the car there to protect you. After all, you had never been to Japan before–had never really planned to visit– but when your parents had decided to go for a spur-of-the-moment second honeymoon, two months ago, no one had been able to look after you for the summer other than your father’s secluded Japanese mother.
All the time you’d spent sitting in one place to get here, and you still didn’t know what you were going to say to the grandmother you’d seen only a handful of times. You’d been very young then, too. And it wasn’t just her you worried about. What were you supposed to do in this strange country for the next month and a half? Sure, your father had taught you the language, but communication wasn’t the only problem you could foresee raising its ugly head.
Some of your fears, however, were relieved by the relatively normal-looking neighborhood that met your eyes. You heaved a sigh of relief before you looked at the paper with the address jotted down on it. This was indeed where your grandmother lived.
But before you opened the gate, you looked behind yourself once more. Someone was watching you. Weren’t they? You could see no movement at all. After a moment or two of searching, you shrugged, got a better grip on your suitcase, and made your way up to the house.=
******
“Oh, I’m just so glad you decided to visit!” the small, silver-haired woman called over her shoulder as she bustled around the kitchen, making the tea you had not actually said you wanted. “We two girls will have such fun! We have so much to catch up on!”
You forced a smile as you took the steaming cup from her hands. Who on earth would want something so hot when just outside was even warmer? Even placing the mug on the table in front of you didn’t seem to get rid of the steam.
If your grandmother noticed your chagrin, she didn’t show it. She just shuffled over to the other side of the table to settle in. She grinned at you again, and you smiled back, though less enthusiastically than you had when you had entered the house roughly two hours ago.
“So,” she said, patting her thighs with the palms of her hands. “What are you planning on doing this summer?”
“Do?” you asked, bewildered.
“Well of course! I remember what it was like to be a girl your age. Surely you don’t want to spend the entire summer in the company of someone as old as your grandmother!”
Now your discomfort grew so great that you couldn’t help but squirm. You did not want to admit that you had thrown a bit of a snit about just that very aspect of being sent across the world for vacation. Your parents had refused to let you stay back home with one of your friends and had instead chosen to send you to a completely unfamiliar country. How were you supposed to make friends in a town full of strangers? But admitting that sounded rude without you so much as opening your mouth.
Your grandmother nodded as though she could hear your thoughts anyway. “You can’t expect me to get out and about as much as you would like. No, you need to get out there, make some friends, meet some boys!”
“I don’t know about that, Grandma,” you said weakly.
“Why, sure you do! Go to the park, or to get noodles, or something! Anything! It’s summer break here, too, you know, and kids your age will be crawling out of the woodwork.”
“Well…”
“Well, what? A bright kid like you, you’ll make friends like that!” She snapped her fingers. “And not being able to talk to them is no excuse. We’ve been speaking Japanese since you got here, and you haven’t had any trouble at all!”
“But what if–”
“No, no worrying. Worrying does not all you to act.” Your grandmother stood up, motioning for you to do the same.
You did.
Without warning and with surprising strength, the old woman pushed you toward and out the front door, then slammed it before you were able to turn around and step back inside. A snick indicated she’d locked you out.
“Grandma!” You banged on the door with one first. “Grandma! Let me back in!”
“No, not until you make some friends, [Name]!”
With that, you heard her march away from the door. You hit the door once or twice more, but knew it was a futile effort. Your father had warned you that your grandmother could be quite adamant about the strangest things.
You were now outside in the sweltering heat, wearing nothing but a pair of shorts, a t-shirt, and your socks. You could simply choose to sit down in the shade and wait until your grandmother came back to see if you had left, but you were unsure if she would be able to see you from another window, or if she even would let you back in when you clearly had refused to try.
Deciding that it was best to just get the attempt over with, you made your way down the sidewalk and back onto the street you had left mere hours before. As you left the gate, you looked around, scratching the side of your head. There were no kids here. Old people usually lived amongst other old people, didn’t they?
Maybe you would have to go somewhere else to find people your own age to talk to. Your grandmother had not, after all, given you a curfew or any limitations to your wanderings. After looking both ways across the street, you chose one direction and set out that way, trying to ignore the way your shirt stuck to your skin and how each step turned your socks and even darker gray.
You saw no one. You heard no one. Either your grandmother had lied about the number of students milling around with no school to attend, of the entire population of Japan had agreed that it was too hot to bother with going outside. March and march and march you did. Only upon finding a shady spot against fence did you finally decide you’d given enough effort and needed to rest.
“Hey. What’re you doing out here alone?”
When had you closed your eyes? At the sound of an unfamiliar voice, you jumped about a foot in the air and opened those eyes to find your nose a mere two inches from that of a tall boy with messy dark hair, brown eyes, and the biggest smile you’d ever seen.
He took a step back, still grinning and clearly without a care in the world as to how badly he’d scared you. Well, you thought your fright ought to be obvious enough. You were breathing heavily and looking at him like he was completely insane.
“So?” he asked.
“So what?” you replied.
“What’re you doing out here alone? It’s kinda hot to just be sitting there.”
You frowned. He was taller than you by quite a bit, but he looked to be your age or around it. Well, beggars couldn’t be choosers.
“My grandma locked me out until I found some friends,” you explained.
“Oh, are you new in town?” the boy asked, his smile never faltering. “You can play mafia with us!”
“Tch! Don’t invite strangers to join the family, baseball idiot! Besides, that’s the Tenth’s job!” said a new voice.
“Ahahaha, I didn’t think Tsuna would mind,” the boy in front of you said.
You inched to the side and saw that you were not as alone with the tall “baseball idiot” as you had originally thought. Two other boys stood behind him. One had shaggy silver hair; the other, an impressive bush of brown hair rising from his scalp. Upon closer examination, there appeared to be four of members of this group. The brunet had what appeared to be a baby wearing a suit and a hat perched on his shoulder.
“Anyway, I’m Takeshi Yamamoto,” the smiling boy said, his smile only widening when you looked him in the eyes. “What’s your name?”
“Um, [F Name] [L Name],” you said.
“She can play with us, right, Tsuna?”
The smallest of the boys eyed Yamamoto and opened his mouth to speak, but the baby on his shoulder answered first:
“Of course. We’re always looking for new family members.”
“Re-Reborn! Don’t just decide things like that!” the boy, Tsuna, stammered.
“See? It’ll be fun! Come on!” Yamamoto said as he returned his attention to you. Apparently he did not even consider the fact that people your age generally didn’t play “imagination games” a problem.
The silver-haired boy made another “Tch!” sound and looked away.
“This is Tsuna.” Yamamoto gestured toward the brunet. “He’s our “boss.” And this,” he motioned toward the other boy, “is Gokudera.”
Gokudera didn’t even bother to look at you. He merely kept his arms crossed and looked adamantly away from both you and Yamamoto.
“So come on! It’ll be fun! And then your grandma will let you back inside, right?”
You hesitated.
His cheerful smile never faltered. "Summer break is best spent with friends."
This time, you looked at the silver haired boy, still pointedly ignoring you, and grinned yourself. “You know what? I’d really like that.”

*cracks knuckles* *opens my 70 page document* allow me
"an assassin doesn't decide right and wrong. only life and death." "that's very clever, but come on, really?"
"don't do this. i will kill you." "probably."
"say the word and i'll go back into that tower with you."
“come on, Rayla. do it for the frog.”
"no idea what nuance is."
"i'm sure you won't die. i mean eventually you will die–i assume. but who knows. maybe you won't!"
“i can’t see a thing!” “shh!” “oh, can you see better if i’m quiet?”
"wait. Callum, you may be a dummy but you're not a fool!" "am i supposed to feel flattered by this?"
"i like being alive."
"i'm going to share an old elven proverb with you: when traveling up a mountain trying to save a dying dragon egg and you hear a spooky sound, just keep walking." "wow, that's really specific."
"you have a good heart. it's super annoying."
"i'm confused." "i don't blame you. after all, you're only human."
"i just want to make sure you're still on mission, not just... having fun." "uh, you built a zip line today." "I TOOK NO JOY IN THAT!"
"alright, time to go to the magical land and do whatever."
"maybe, if i'm brave enough to go into it, and face the storm, that's how i'll make the connection." "or it'll blow you up until you’re dead :)"
"sweet words can be more dangerous than hidden daggers."
"i thought you disapproved." "i disagree. but, i stand by you anyway."
"i've never actually, y'know, killed anyone." "oh. well, maybe someday. never give up on your dreams!"
"there's so much swirling around in my head, but i need a way to bring it all together." "like some kind of breakthrough."
"that must've been when he fell." "'fell?'" "yes." "'fell?' he didn't fall, Rayla. he didn't trip and land on the ground. he got killed!"
"dragon smash boy. say the good words now. they light the hearts of other people."
“to know something truly and deeply, you must know it with your head, hand, and heart. mind, body, and spirit. i love you with all of myself, and i always will.”
"i promise." "you better. i know where you live."
"the Dragon Prince lives! and he's very cute, isn't he?"
“there’s no shame if you aren’t yet ready. no one blames you for being a child.”
“peace will require just as much strength as war.”
“you know, i was never as strong as the others. this will only break the spell for a moment, but i couldn't bear to let you leave without seeing you one last time."
"my love will be with you even when the moon is not.”
"hi, Nyx. my name's Rayla; they call me Rayla. and i'm in a bad mood. either you fly away now, or i'm going to use these blades to do something that's gonna cheer me up."
"i'm so sorry it's come to this." "no, you're not."
"you're too good to feel this bad about yourself."
“Soren, wait! the hay is… glowing.” “yeah. yeah, it is. so?” “nothing. it’s pretty neat.” “thanks, man. hay’s the best.”
"tell me she wasn't your world."
"Viren, i'm nothing if not elegant and efficient."
"'your people'? do you bring farmers and poets, or do you bring an army?"
"is this... the afterlife?" "no, it's still just... the life... still. you're alive."
" this is a cycle, not an ending."
“doesn’t seem fair that only phoenixes get to come back.”
"i let you jump into the nexus alone, and i knew right away i made the biggest mistake of my life. i could have lost you. we do this together. don’t try changing my mind.”
"sorry. not funny. bad joke."
"UGH, I LOVE BOOKS!"
"well, if your sword is as sharp as your wit, then the young king is in good hands."
"you want an adventure, right?"
"lots of things are hard, Callum. like magic. but you figured that out didn't you?" "...yeah. somehow relationships seem harder."
"gone are the days where we shed blood for justice. if we are to rebuild, we just do so together. in mercy. in compassion."
"but, enough about my pajamas, Claudia. you have to stop trying to release the greatest evil the world has ever known!" "ughhh, i knew you wouldn't understand."
“i’m just gonna stab him.”
“history demands nothing! i make history, it does not make me.”
“well, you see, what he does—it, ah, hmm, it involves some very hard decisions–” “i kill people. i don’t judge them.”
“your hands may hold many things, but they shall always hold my heart. and i love them nearly as much as i love you.” “what would i do without my guiding moon?”
“to your left, darling.”
“soon, i’ll have you feeling like a tree in the springtime. re-leaved.”
"she was hiding a weapon." "so what? she always is!"
"if you spend all your time doing adult stuff now, you'll grow up weird. like your brother and Rayla!"
“thanks for humoring me, Rayla. i hope staying in that inn wasn’t too cutesy-quaint for your rugged Moonshadow tastes.”
“‘oh, Rayla, the last Dragonguard, what did you do to try and stop the Fallen Star?’ ‘well, i did what the queen told me and sat on my hands.’”
“i don’t want to get your hopes up, but i think i might’ve seen your dad’s bum shimmy just a little.”
“goods i got by doing… crimes.”
“ah, no! me smoke bees!”
“don’t feel bad. if i was a giant sea monster, i would eat you.” “really? aw, thank you.”
“vengeful pirate, certain death, and no jelly. argh…” “rough day.”
“you’re crying innocent, but in your eyes i see guilt. what have you done that’s got you so twisted up inside, huh?”
“are you mixing the pentapus ink… with your own blood?” “it’s a spell, Terry, not a pudding recipe.”
“your son was deathly ill, your mentor mysteriously disappeared, and then your wife left, all one after the other.” LLLLLL
“a giant! if we go back, it’ll grind up our bones bake us into bread!” “actually, all the books i looked at said giants use rye flour.” “then maybe it’d just eat us in a normal way!”
"smash it, throw it off a cliff, get a giant, super-sharp axe and KA-CHOP, you know? we could get creative.”
“wake up, kids!”
“guess i can always use a pile of loose planks as a blanket. hey, i invented a ‘planket.’”
“are you begging for mercy?” “no.” “good. you don’t deserve any.”
“alright, i’m just gonna ask; why do you wear those?” “why do we wear underwear?” “no-”
“aye, of course! that’s us. Chosen Number One, and Chosen Number Two.”
“‘cause i know you, Rayla."
“my star was never hidden, just because other people couldn’t see it. i always knew who i was.”
“i would only complicate her life.” “life is complicated. but, if it’s love, then nothing else matters. do what you must.”
“there will be more kisses later.”
“human, child, king. none of that matters.”
“well, now. that’s odd.” “‘odd’? it’s romantic!”
“i’m your daughter and i need you."
honorable mention: "i would do anything for you" i mean it's ok but not good enough to make the list :/
11 Days until Season 7!
The Dragon Prince is full of funny, inspiring, heartfelt moments…share your favorite quote from TDP!

Hello, Its been awhile I havent updated my blog. How is life anyway? Life has been…tough and fun at the same time. It has its ups and downs which I dont mind about it. I do have those days where I could cry til I get better. But there are days I feel happy. The thing is crying isnt helping anymore but thats okay. That is all I can do. Something about me is missing… and I just cant find the missing puzzle piece to make my heart feel better. Please Guide me to the right Path My Lord (Aaminn). Im trying my best to heal myself and make myself happy again but i couldn’t at the moment. I feel sad most of the time and sometimes i dont feel sad at all. I dont understand like what do I want? I honestly dont know what I want. My past especially my situation, I cant handle it. Its too much for me to handle it. Sometimes, I feel like Im drowning with sorrows of my past, it keeps crawling back to my life. The feeling guilt is still there. How do I get over this feeling? I am tired… I am tired of thinking especially of my past. I fucking hate it as if I am fuckinh drowning with my past. How the fuck am I supposed to heal and not feeling broken??? Fuck I am trying to live my life. I honestly do want to move on. Who doesnt? I do not love him anymore but I do miss his presence but i dont miss him. This fucking hurts guys. How do I recover myself? I miss the old me. I really am. Sometimes, I broke down into tears that I miss myself. The old me. The old me when I was young, Early 20’s. Fuck this song is so deep and it fucking hurts alot. Why the fuck did I meet this guy. Tinder is not a good app. Fuck me, how am I supposed to be happy again? I just want to be happy. My thoughts filled with sadness and negativity. I just want my positive thoughts back. It makes me really fucking hate myself. I fucking hate myself. I do hate myself. And no, I do not hate myself becus of insecurities. I hate myself becus of what I did, I couldnt believe what I did to someone. I never thought of myself for wrecking someone’s life. It makes me sad to think about it. I keep praying and praying…non stop praying, asking for forgiveness, asking for guiding me to the right path, asking for me to fall inlove again with the right person. I want us both to fall inlove with what Allah SWT shows us. Like how beautiful life is, how beautiful islam is. Islam is a beautiful religion, ever since the incident happened. I’ve been doing alot of research about Islam. How Allah SWT created us. How He showed us to fall inlove with Islam and how He showed us to fall for the right person. I just hope I get to see His Home which is Mecca. The most beautiful place I have ever since on the Internet. I just want to go there and cry my lungs out and fix me esp my broken heart. I just want to ease my mind and heart. That is all I want. I am tired of being broken. I am tired of being sad. I am not going to be sad for the rest of my life and no I do not do self-harm. That is not me, I have to be strong. I know I am a strong person infront of everyone but deep down inside me, I am not as strong as u can see. I cried alot. Once I am getting older, I feel hopeless and I cried alot. I just want to be young again… but I cant turn back the time. I have to move on and live myself. As what Fergie said “Big girls dont cry” haha BIG GIRLS DO CRY ALOT. But that is okay, I mean it is okay to cry. That is the only way for u to feel better. All I want is to ease my heart and mind. That is all I want. Ok that is enough. I wish I could show this blog to anyone but that is okay.

i feel conflicted abt my relationship...need advice etc . in tags . pls i need input sm
#i love my gf a lot and i think our relationship is doing rly good rn . i miss her a lot bc im in a diff country to her but ill see her#in a few weeks etc. anyway things are good....HOWERVER. i am worried abt . our future#like u are supposed to live in the moment and have fun and be young etc etc but this is like..the fact that its going well#is making me consider how our life paths would go tgth and if it would be fair to stay in a relationship u know wont work forever. like#this was one of the reasons why i felt hesitant at first etc. basically i swore to myself i would only date an academic or at least someone#who like. has. A Thing. that they are working towards that they are rly rly passionate abt. bc i thought it just wouldnt work out otherwise#and it seemed after a while of talking that she IS like that...shes applying for a graphic design degree and she seems to genuinely#love art etc so much and also she is amazing at it. HOWRVER...she hasnt drawn in a while#and is working a min wage job despite meaning to quit for ages...and as far as im aware#she still hasnt made a portfolio...etc etc. but im so confused bc like...shes great and ik she can do it i just dont#understand why she wont. she could also get an internship etc in the relevant field but i still dont get it...and its not my place to be#pushy abt it. like i already suggested these things and asked abt them but i dont want to ask any more bc like. its her choice#what she does w her life etc. but anyway its like...am i being pessimistic/impatient and everything is gonna#go well for her or do i hold genuine concerns. and if the latter/both potentially...is it unfair to be like#hey babe ik things are amazing rn but we have to reevaluate bc idk if in 10 yrs i would be happy w where we are#my friend was like. Break Up W Her from the beginning bc he thinks u shouldn't get into a relationship w smn whom you think will not also#elevate u in some way..and ur life paths dont align etc...but he is genuinely married to his academics like hes sworn off#love so i didnt rly listen bc hes rly extreme w his. love gets in the way of academics. etc#but also his point was valid i think? that you want the person u spend ur life w to elevate you. u want them to challenge you and make you#want to work harder and be better and achieve more and more...and i do want that and i have been trying to be that for them#but A) i can only be that to a reasonable extent for them before it starts being like nagging/being pushy and#B) i feel like if they end up going the way they are rn they can never be that for me. is that bad#like am i a horrible person for thinking this way. obviously i am not casting a moral judgement on her or anyone#for whatever path in life they choose to go down but also is it like...Silly to give up on a perfectly good#relationship bc ur like. as it stands i do not see you walking alongside me in 10 yrs etc#like im lich rally 20 . but what if it DOES end up going rly well and it DOES end up being thr case that we end up staying together#and then im like. feeling discouraged bc my partner in life is just not the kind of person i imagined being w when i was 19 or 20...#like in terms of careers etc. more importantly is this a discussion i should have w her . bc i literally do not know how to raise this#without sounding like a dick but is that bc i...am being a dick? is this a bad thing ?? is this thought not that of a good person ?#it sounds so WEIRD to be like hey babe either u have to start being more ambitious and insane abt ur art or i might break up w you. like :/

this is a comic i did for the 90 minute winter gift exchange over at the @kakairu-discord-server ❄❄❄ the theme was "food is a love language" and my giftee was multishipperfanatic (ao3)!
i tried to fill out their drink request of the grinch drink: peach schnapps (which looks so yummy pls google it), as well as the tropes of modern day au, soulmate au and--it's not really obvious cuz i didnt manage to get to these panels--also the mob boss and civilian au (with ruka being the mob boss and kashi being the civilian). UH and also eventual obikakairu if this was a long fic cuz i was thinking obito doesnt have a mark in this ;P
some (maybe more than "some" lol) notes under the cut
yeah kakashi totally took one look at iruka and thought "no im gonna give him a fun holiday drink instead of his usual whiskey" bc that seems like as good a pick-up opening as any
obito's the usual bartender and kakashi offered to come in to help during the increased holiday business after obito complained they were short staffed. it's kakashi's first week.
i had three more pages (optimistically) roughed out that i couldnt outline (which i couldve spent properly drawing lol; lesson learned for next time!) and what happens is before kashi or ruka can say anything else, ruka's phone goes off and he chugs the drink and dips without paying.
kakashi's kind of stunned and obito comes back from the backroom and asks if he missed anything and hey, where's iruka? kakashi's still sort of processing so he's like "he... didnt pay" and obito's like "oh, he doesnt have to."
kakashi's like "why" and obito's like "remember how i told you this bar is favoured by the sarutobis and under their protection, and that youd have to be okay with that before you helped out?" "yeah?" "well, iruka's the head of it."
kakashi's shook and goes "whAT" and obito's like "???" and kashi says "he's my soulmate" and then obito goes "whAT" and that was gonna be the proper end of the comic lmao
obito's worked there for a while and he and iruka have been lowkey flirting for a while. obito is lowkey why ruka shows up weekly, and this is why obito calls the head of the sarutobis by his first name. he's also childhood friends and occasional v casual fwb with kakashi. this is supposed to be a kkir-focused thing so i wont mention too much but the scars are still A Thing bc team minato got into a car crash when they were young and it's been a source of Drama for obito and his police family (team minato all lived tho)
kakashi is actually quite normal (for a guy who has an eidetic memory, is technically a genius, and favours icha icha). he's a teacher at the local high school (when he finds out naruto's protected by the mob and practically iruka's son, he has this moment where he's like "maybe i would have been less strict with him if id known he was a mob kid" and iruka laughs and is like "nah. dont tell him i said this but youre his favourite teacher"
(nothing changes at his job despite dating the head of the local mob lol)
iruka's words are "youre normal???" bc when he was really young he thought hed be ruining someones christmas by being a mean jerk to someone (he kind of loves the holidays out of spite now) and when he got adopted by hiruzen and ended up taking more and more responsibility in the Family, he thought maybe he'd be inadvertently ruining someone's holidays bc of mob-related violence. encountering his soulmate in a totally mundane routine event for him threw him for a loop, as did finding out the grinch thing was referring to a drink. (he'd never heard of it before kakashi. it's now his favourite holiday drink.)
iruka has tattoos covering his back. just felt relevant to mention.
ANYWAYS hope u liked it!!!!! 💞💞💞

true beauty | h.c. with fem!reader | best friend!seojun headcanons (bonus)
a/n: *taps mic* is this thing still on. hi?? this was supposed to be a little something to keep things /fun/ while waiting for the last chapter but erm this has been sitting in my drafts for too long and i only got to finish it now. anyway pls have this for now!! ALSO this is connected to and a bit more all over the place than the series i've been writing, pls don't get confused!! past tense bc seojun and mc are currently on friend breakup lol. but i wanted to share a bit more about their friendship since the fic has been focused on tension between them so. if u're still here supporting my fic seriously thank u!!
we already know this but your friendship with seojun mostly consisted of bickering and messing around. compliments disguised as insults (because they were less embarrassing that way), i-bet-i-could-finish-this-first's (then winner gets a wish), pranks, etc. laughing til your stomachs hurt. lots of fun tbh. the kind that got you kicked out of cinemas or made old couples that passed by wish they were young again. your camera roll would pretty much be filled with all of these goofy moments you liked to go through whenever you needed a laugh.
seojun loved being annoying. would take advantage of his height, steal things from your grasp and hold them out of reach… always had random urges to tease you or push you over the edge especially if you were engrossed in something else which always. ended in him getting his ass beat but he’d be giggling through it whilst you’re trying to keep a straight face :-))
hanging out at his house!! yours wasn’t the best place to be in so it was always his. sharing a bowl of ramen, watching tv, or just lounging in the living room - you always made yourself at home. the desk in the corner was your study spot and if you were tired after school sometimes you'd fall asleep right there or if you were stubborn he'd drag you to the couch himself. then you'd always wake up with a blanket over you and sometimes a stuffed animal he claimed was his sister's tucked between your arms.
sometimes you'd wake up way past dinner and his mom would already be home... seojun didn’t like ruining your slumber even though you found it embarrassing whenever you overslept. but his family didn't mind plus the dark wasn't a problem since your house wasn’t far and he was there to walk you home anyway. (his mom made sure he did.)
seojun sometimes snapped photos of you asleep to make fun of you with ("wow, is this really you? i… wow. how do you look so angelic when you sleep? here - look, you almost got me foole—mpffh!") or make memes out of but tbh he did it cause he thought you looked cute. (though he wouldn’t admit that even to himself.)
reading stuff out loud and asking him questions randomly while you were studying on your own so he'd also remember them. nine times out of ten he answered with something dumb (remember when he thought spy and mafia were the same thing. or when he said visage meant visual age lol) and sometimes his confidence would be convincing enough that you end up questioning what you thought you already knew (“no that’s n—wait a minute, is it…?”) and scrambling for your notes again. but surprisingly?? you found that this was how most of the terms stuck with you. which helped you ace your exams in the end.
‘are you awake?’ 'what are you up to?' texts at night. or calls, if seojun was bored out of his mind. you're a terrible replier, most of the time you couldn't be bothered, but if it was him you could spend hours in bed just talking about random things or sending each other funny, relatable stuff (probably tiktoks) until you fell asleep. though there were still times when not even him could get in the way of your alone time and he respected that.
also, little things that showed you how much seojun cared like, him carrying your bag if you had too much stuff, always opening the bag of chips or. bottled water before handing it to you, shielding your face from the sun if you fell asleep on the bus, standing in the way so you didn't get crushed if the ride was too crowded (it took a lot of strength sometimes), texting you to wait for him if you were to go alone somewhere at night, throwing you one of his hoodies before he walked you home from his house in case you got cold :,)
and so much of those ‘i thought you’d like this’ or ‘i thought you’d be hungry so i brought you food.’ he knew you very well. like which type of snacks you craved and when, how much sugar you liked in your drink, your favorite side dishes (if he didn’t like it that much he gave you his), your habits and pet peeves (if someone was tapping their pen too loud he’d be like “hey, could you turn that down!” or like if someone made you repeat yourself he’d go, “she said ____.” however, if it was one of those jerks you were dating he just let them piss you off and you'd even catch him snickering to himself.)
he loved the praise he always got afterwards too, like being babied by his mom or being told he was the best for remembering. literally always seeking compliments to be honest. always looked too proud of himself, would go, "aren't you lucky to have me?" just to hear you say what would i do without you? one more time.
but you also loved doing things for him. paid attention to the things he said and made mental notes to do him these favors he never really asked you for. if you’d gone out of your way to do something for him you'd spare him the details of your efforts so he didn’t feel guilty. the happiness on his face whenever you got him something he wanted or eased his troubles always genuinely made up for it.
in the rare times you got hurt or sick, seojun dropped everything to tend to you even if it was minor. like that one time you accidentally burned your hand in his kitchen, he ran to your side faster than you could react, pulled you to the sink and took care of it as if you couldn’t ("idiot, you should've been more careful!"), or that one time you were feeling under the weather, you hadn't meant to make it a big deal, literally only mentioned it in passing plus it was late at night you didn't think he would be able to do anything but then later he was asking you to come out because he was waiting outside your gate with medicine :-(
always worrying about him because he was frequently causing trouble in and out of school and had people chasing after him but. he remained stubborn about those things :/ so you always had to take care of his bruises from fights or injuries from riding his motorcycle, help him out if the guys went looking for him, or put them in their place if you had to - you were good at making those boys shut up - and seojun would be snickering behind you while you did so.
"ah, my best friend is so cool. i raised you so well."
"don't talk to me. i'm telling your mom." rip.
being close with seojun's mom and sister!! watching shows together while folding laundry!! girls talk!! being treated like one of the family!! it felt nice to have someone look after you as if you were their own daughter considering your relationship with your own parents.
seojun always whined whenever they teamed up with you against him but, deep down, he loved seeing the three girls in his life get along so well and always watched with a fond smile.
please, if seojun wasn't there, sometimes his mom would half-jokingly call you her daughter-in-law. also probably had that as your name in her phone. (remember in the drama when she said she'd love seojun to have a girlfriend? she'd tell you that all the time.)
gowoon also usually didn't bother correcting people whenever they referred to you as seojun's girlfriend - she was tired of people in her grade asking her to set them up with him whenever they found out they were siblings anyway. (you knew all too well how irritating that could get so.)
k-dramas with the three of them in the living room and fawning over the leads. once, during one of those times seojun went like, "yeah right, he must have set the bar high for you, y/n?" and you immediately got what he meant by this sarcastic remark, sent him glares though he’d already moved on to scolding his sister on the other hand about how she was still too young to think about relationships. (they're literally one year apart, help.)
but his mom caught on and she was like, "oh yeah, how are things going between you and your boyfriend, y/n?"
after exchanging a look with seojun, who was attentive again, you said, "really good so far, he's sweet, um, he treats me so well. um, we're actually just getting to know each other..."
and then seojun muttered under his breath, "liar."
but everyone heard it, so to your satisfaction, gowoon threw at her brother one of his underwear while their mom told him to stop antagonizing and to, instead, get a girlfriend, which seojun replied to with, "mom, it's hard when everyone thinks your son is boyfriend material... i have too many admirers..."
and so that was your turn to scoff. "oh, yeah... your son seems to be getting chased after a lot these days,” seojun’s eyes widened at this, "huh, maybe they're into bad boys?”
anyway, seojun hated every single guy you got in a relationship with, for valid reasons. it never made sense why you dated that way, you were smart but always went for the most questionable men. it was disappointing - you didn’t seem like the type to treat this somehow as a game but at one point he just came to accept it as long as you didn't get your heart broken (which seemed to never happen anyway so…). though if you were dating someone there was never a time where he didn't make it obvious that he was against them.
and since he couldn’t stand these boys, you made a point never to put them in the same room together as much as you could help it just to save yourself the headache. (whether he did it on purpose or not, seojun always appeared more like the boyfriend than the real one and it just made things painfully awkward. which was sometimes the goal, tbh.)
you were in the bathroom when he’d accidentally seen a notification from your then boyfriend asking if you were free the coming weekend, so when you came out, before you could reach your phone he was like, “hey, we haven’t gone to the movies in a while. how 'bout saturday? my treat."
“your treat? um, hell yeah... oh. oh wait—”
“good. saturday then. i’m excited. saturday, OK?”
guys having a crush on you but never hitting you up because even though they knew seojun wasn't your boyfriend, they were too intimidated by him :/ (but if only they knew. that this guy was an actual softie who loved getting head rubs or falling asleep on his friend’s lap and vibed to mino and zico in his leopard underwear and kept a stuffed animal beside him every night... maybe this wouldn’t be the case.)
on the other hand, you were used to seojun’s admirers trying to get on your good side or reaching up to you to ask you for his number or what kind of chocolates he liked. or if you could set them up with him. and if seojun was dating someone you were never even able to entertain the idea of hating on them (as petty as it sounds) like he did with yours because seojun had high standards so they were all nice :/
petty arguments often ending in silent treatments because both of you refused to back down. your ‘fights’ were never so serious or bad enough to bend your friendship, neither of you ever said words to purposely hurt the other, just that you could be so stubborn sometimes.
but these things usually didn't last long, and happened rarely, most of the time the tension just disappeared naturally or ended with one of you apologizing first followed by the other. if it was too annoying to ignore, seojun's friends would take it upon themselves to have you make up. (locking you in the same room together worked 100% of the time.)
being each other’s go-to for when you couldn’t decide on stuff or needed advice on anything because you were always honest when it came to those things. questions like, which shade looked better on you? was this too expensive? which photos were instagram-worthy? (he’d be tilting his phone and all to look at each of them from every angle btw.) he also valued your opinion so most of the time he went with whatever you thought was good.
seojun was a very good listener. he was always willing to hear out all your rants and stories (even if he knew nothing about the stuff), adopted your enthusiasm when you talked about things you loved and asked questions that fueled you on, or sometimes even got mad more than you did if it was something to be angry about. he treated your problems as if they were his own and was always willing to help you out in solving them. but he also didn’t hesitate to call you out on your poor decisions or behavior if he had to. you did the same for him.
but generally you were never actually expressive when it came to the real extent of your negative feelings, like if you were hurt or deeply affected by something that happened, you didn’t show it. pissed off was the most you could let on because you felt that anything more than that could be seen as weak, which you avoided. you had this ‘but seriously it’s fine, don’t worry’ attitude that was convincing even to seojun, who was supposed to know you more than anyone, so he was shocked the first time he learned about your family situation. but this was something you needed to work on, not his. the good thing was, even if he could never tell when you were sad or anything like, he was always able to provide you with the comfort you needed just by being himself. :-)
on the other hand, if seojun wasn’t okay you’d know immediately because you’d find him zoning out and quieter than usual. usually if you asked him if there was anything wrong he’d tell you about it though sometimes reluctant, because unlike you, he was more open to talk about these things (atleast with you, he could be). whether it be advice or just an ear and emotional support, you were there to give him just exactly what he needed at the moment.
this was a friendship far from perfect, but it was definitely more than just the fun and games that met the eye. clearly one of mutual love and genuine care for each other. and the best and most enviable thing about it was that you were both lucky to have found another person you could always run to, literally trust to have your back no matter what happens... someone you could call home, as cheesy as that sounds :,)

Yo i adore your writing so so so much! It's so nicely detailed and fun! If i could, i'd write myself, but i can only draw for now ://keep up the good work, and have the Leshy content flowing in for as long as you enjoy making it!! Could you maybe write about the reader giving him a warm, candle-lit bath after he returns to the cabin from a muddy stinky storm, exhausted and maybe even injured? ofc u don't have to, only if u find the prompt fun <33 happy holidays and have a good day ^^
I’ve been thinking about this prompt all day I drank an entire mug of hot coco to get in the right cozy mood for this one so here we go gamers.
~Rain Rain~
Leshy X GN!Reader, bathing fic
In which Leshy gets hydrated
Leshy sat in like an uncomfortable mutt in a wooden wash basin, warm water running just beneath his rib cadge, the small storage room was warm, mostly from the obnoxious amount of candles, and slight in thanks to it being the only room in the cabin without a hole in the ceiling.
Outside, a billowing rainstorm roared, giving the little cabin of blanks and logs quiet the beating.
Moments ago, the great scrybe of beasts was out there in this rain, helping to move young denizens of the forest away from the cliff side. He’d been just a tad too late, the strong winds and heavy rain turned the mountain side into soup, and a large mud slide buried Leshy along with the wolf pack he’d been moving.
They’d ended up fine, it wasn’t too deep, easy enough for he and the pack to dig themselves out of. Though apparently mud wasn’t quiet his look, as his current challenger had rushed him out of the main room and immediately drenched him in water.
He’d gone from cold and wet to warm and wet, which he wasn’t sure was an upgrade.
“Alright, I got more hot water.” Speaking of his challenger, they’d returned.
Leshy didn’t have running water in his cabin, he’d supposed he had no use for it, so getting hot water proved to be quiet the chore. His challanger, sweet as could be, went out in the rain to collect water from the well, then boiled it in the fireplace. He didn’t understand why they went though the trouble, but it was trouble none the less.
“Hold still, alright?” They walked up to Leshy sat in his basin and tilted his head forward, slowly pouring the freshly heated water over the nape of his neck. He may not appreciate the forceful cleaning, but he’d appreciate the effort to put into it, and the cool hand on the back of his head.
“May I get out now?”
Of course, one could only appreciate a gesture for so long.
His player’s hand ran down his neck to his spine, sending a slight shiver though Leshy’s body. He hoped it wasn’t too noticeable a movement.
“No. You’re still absolutely caked in mud.” The player shook their hand, flicks of dirty water going in every direction. Leshy huffed.
“Most of it was dirt before you shoved me in here.”
“Dirt. Caked on dirt.” The player looked down at him in a judgful manor, making Leshy shrink under his gaze. They rolled their eyes, “I get it, you live in the woods and play card games and live among the beasts, but that’s really no reason to be so filthy.”
Leshy rung his hands together, avoiding the challanger’s gaze, “The prospector is just as filthy and I don’t see you shoving HIM into a basin of boiling water.”
“It’s not boiling.” They snapped up the well bucket and lightly tapped it atop Leshy’s head, “And the Prospector showers when he goes home. You just always seem him fresh out of the mine.”
Leshy’s pout was probably much more obvious now as he twiddled his thumbs and shifted in place. The basin was uncomfortable, the water was getting cold, and truth be told he was bored of just sitting here.
The challenger gave a soft sigh and sat on the well bucket before him, “Just let me get it out of your hair at least, okay?”
He looked back up at them, then gave a soft nod, trying his best not to look too much like a kicked puppy.
His challanger’s hands gently ran though what stood for his hair, leaves and brush, deeper down a layer of moss and lichen. They combed though his hair, washing their hands off in the basin before returning, gently cleaning away any dirt and mud that’s escaped the dumping of water when he’d first been forced into the bath.
Slowly, Leshy’s eye closed, he relaxed into the gently touched of his challanger’s fingers over his scalp, and when they moved to give his beard the same treatment he all but leaned into them, a low rumble in his throat akin to a purr.
Leshy hadn’t even noticed how much he leaned to his challenger, how he’d put the weight of his entire head into their hands, how their cool touch soothed him so.
He hadn’t meant to fall asleep, honest. But the warmth of the room, the roar of the storm, and the comforting feeling of being groomed... it was all just too much.
When he’d awake, hours later, he’d be thoroughly water logged, and would need to spend the rest of the day outside, soaking in sunlight, and plucking off new branches that’d spring from the abundance of resources he’d collect.
At least he’d still have a challenger to play against, on such a nice, sunny day.

Ghost
Karl Heisenberg x reader
Word Count: 2.4k
Warnings: angst, death, execution, blugering heads in, smut (not to detailed)
Author’s Note: I really ended up liking this one! I hope you enjoy it as well love. I too would simply haunt the hell out of this village.
Requested: by anon, hiii!!! could u possibly do a 2 part karl heisenberg x fem!reader where Y/N used to be the young bride to be yet soon had made the rounds of having an illicit affair with the older and sarcastic bastard that was heisenberg. after being caught, she was executed and now haunts the village and heisenberg is the only one that manages to truly see her when she's haunting and there could be an explicit part but yea! thanks
Summary: the request
I don’t own these characters. They belong to author/director/creator
(not my gif)
Many Years Before 2021
You didn’t really want to get married. You had been raised to believe that it was something you did so that you could live and if you didn’t you would be poor and die soon. It wasn’t the best philosophy but hey, it was what you had.
You looked at yourself in the mirror, touching your collarbones lightly as your gaze followed the dress.
“You look wonderful,” Celeste, your best friend whispered. She had been married a couple of years before you. She didn’t enjoy it. She didn’t like her husband. You imagined you wouldn’t like yours. You had met the groom to be a couple of times and he was decent enough to be a husband but you didn’t love him, that was for sure. There were so few options in the village.
“You don’t think it’s too much?” you asked, brushing your dress down.
“No, no. You look amazing.”
You nodded a bit and had to look away from yourself. You couldn’t see yourself as a bride. You didn’t want to be a bride. Well maybe one day. But not to him.
David walked into the room and looked at you. He didn’t have a reaction. He just smiled a bit, kind of annoyingly, and moved to grab a book from behind you.
“Doesn’t she look amazing David?” Celeste asked, gesturing to you. You felt kind of awkward standing there as he looked you up and down. You didn’t know what to do with your hands.
“She looks nice,” he said. You deflated a little bit but tried not to show it on your face. Celeste made it very obvious though that that was not what you tell your future wife to be. “I’ll be back for dinner at 5.” He turned and left.
You sat down on the bed, putting your head in your hands.
“I need to go for a walk,” you muttered. “Get me out of this dress Celeste.” ====
You had to make dinner but for the moment you were ignoring your responsibilities. The village, though small, still always had something new to find. You walked on the outskirts, ignoring the people as they went past and just looking around.
You walked past the castle, trying not to look up at it. For some reason you were convinced that someone would come and snatch you away if you looked too hard. You walked past it and ended up at the outer edges of town, on one of the trails.
It started to rain and you hadn’t brought a jacket. Yet you didn’t turn back. You stayed on the path that you were on, never having gone this far before. Maybe part of you was hoping it would lead you out of town completely.
“What are you doing all the way out here kitten?” A voice spoke, making you jump. You looked around, searching for the alluring playful male voice. From behind a tree a man emerged. He was wearing a long coat and hat, his hair stringy. He took off the glasses he was wearing to see you better.
“Who are you? I don’t recognize you,” you said, not sure what else to say at first. You knew everyone in town. Everyone knew everyone.
He put his hand out.
“Karl Heisenberg. Who are you? A local yeah?”
“Yes.” You shook his hand. “Y/N.” He let go of your hand and his touch trailed up to your ear, where he felt the pearl earrings you had tried on for the wedding earlier. He looked down at the ring on your finger.
“Where's your husband?” he questioned.
“I don’t have a husband,” you said, much too harshly. You shook your head a bit. “Not yet anyway.” He nodded, leaning against the tree he had just emerged from.
“It’s dangerous out here, don’t they tell you?”
“Who knows anymore? No one ever leaves,” you said. He nodded, surprised at your candor. “Except you. Or are you not from the village?”
“You have a lot of questions don’t you?” “Can you blame me? You’re the first new person I’ve met in years.” He chuckled a bit and nodded.
“I guess I can understand that.” He gestured to the ring.
“What’s the fiance like?”
“You have a lot of questions about my love life Karl.” You crossed your arms annoyed. Karl nodded a bit again.
“I like you.” The way he said it, drawled out a bit and honestly, made your stomach flutter. You panicked for a second. What was that?
“I don’t like my fiance much. But he has a lot of livestock,” you admitted. “It will help my family.” Your voice sounded ashamed as you said that.
“A girl like you can’t marry for love?”
“There’s no one that I love,” you admitted.
Karl thought about it for a second, looking at you up and down. He had met a couple of people from the village but they were usually too scared of him to stay long, or he killed them for an experiment type thing. But he liked you right off the bat.
“Would you like to see somewhere other than the village?” You thought about it for a moment. He was a strange man who you just met outside of your home. He could hurt you. Or he could help you live your life.
“I would.”
====
Karl took you to his factory. He showed you around, told you a bit about the other Lords but not much. You knew Mother Miranda obviously and he expressed his hatred for her. He was interesting and he made you laugh and feel things.
You snuck away why David went to work and went and saw Karl. He showed you more of his inventions. And he liked to hang out with you. He got lonely, not that he would ever admit it.
You sat with him one afternoon, looking at the village from the factory. It was very very faint but it was there.
“I stole this from my sister,” he said quietly, handing you a lipstick. You took it from him, holding it and twisting it to see the colors.
“For me?”
“No, it’s for me. Yes it’s for you,” he said laughing. You chuckled. You put it on your lips, rubbing it together.
“What do you think?”
“You look great.” He was leaning on the ground, holding himself up with his elbow. You were both looking out a window to nature and the village.
“Thank you very much.” You smiled sheepishly and looked down. Your eyes flashed back to him and he had moved closer to you. You hadn’t even noticed. You leaned down and kissed him.
That.
That was what it was supposed to feel like when you kissed someone.
He sat up, putting his hand on the back of your head and pushing your lips further onto his. You breathed him, you felt him as he put you on his lap.
He liked that the village was in view while he held you to him, as each layer of clothing was shredded. As he felt himself move inside of you, he knew that your fiance was in view no matter how strong. Karl felt your body shake in his hands and knew that he loved you. You loved him, you whispered to him when you were both finished.
He took off your wedding ring with his own fingers. He would make you his own one day, he swore it.
====
“What are you looking at?” Celeste asked. You snapped out of it. Your eyes had wandered in the direction of Karl’s factory, though you couldn’t really see it from there. You looked back at her.
“Lost in thought I suppose.”
“What’s that smile?” she asked.
“Huh?”
“That smile?” You shook your head.
“This is my regular smile, don’t worry about it.” Celeste looked at you for a moment longer, puzzled.
“Are you and David getting along better?” she asked. She glanced down at your bare ring finger. It had been bothering her all day.
“I suppose.”
“Where’s your ring?” The two of you were walking to the market to get some things for the week. You looked down at your finger like you hadn’t noticed it was gone.
“Must have dropped it.”
“You say that like it’s not a big deal!” she whispered, grabbing your arm. “What is going on with you? You’re gone all measures of the afternoon, you lose your ring, you have this dazed look on your face all the time-”
“Nothing is wrong with me Celeste.” You yanked your arm away. “Drop it.” She composed herself, shaking her head.
“Whatever you’re doing, stop it. It’s going to get you killed.”
“You’re being dramatic.”
=====
“Look at this one,” Karl said, shoving a fun new invention in your face. You took it from him and laughed a bit.
“What does this one do?” you asked him.
“I don’t know yet,” he admitted. You laughed, tossing it back to him. Sometimes he just put things together and then found out what they did. It worked for him, that was for sure but someday he was bound to get hurt, you were convinced.
“I have to go back to the village. It’s almost dinner time.” You stood up, brushing your clothes off from the grime of the factory.
“You know you don’t have to go back.”
“Yes I do. Otherwise they’ll think I’ve died.”
“Is that so bad?” he weigned. He grabbed your hand but you didn’t let him hold it. You gestured to the door.
“I will see you tomorrow.”
“Your weddings tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow night. I’ll still see you.” You turned and opened the door. He wanted to call for you to come back but he was too prideful for that. He let you go down the hill with the promise that he would see you tomorrow.
The walk back was as swift as it always was. You were practically bouncing. Your mind wasn’t on your wedding, it seemed so miniscule to you now. When you stepped back into your house the ghost of a smile was still on your face.
At the sight of David at the table, the smile faded very quickly.
“David?”
“Where have you been?” Celeste was standing behind him, her arms crossed, face hard. You looked between the two of them.
“I just went for a walk,” you said but it sounded weak.
“Where have you been?” David asked again.
“You go out up to that factory every single day. You come back...with this,” Celeste said, gesturing to the mark on your neck you hadn't even noticed was there.
“I didn’t give it to you.” David said.
“Hey now,” you said, shaking your head. “I burnt myself, that’s all.”
“Do you know what happens to women who have affairs?” David asked, standing up. He grabbed your arm and held it tightly. “They don’t get married.” He threw your arm down and your eyes went wide.
“No. No no, you can’t....”
====
When you didn’t come back the next day, Karl went down to the village. He just narrowly caught the end of the execution. He didn't even think they did that anymore, let alone to you.
He found your fiance and smashed him with his hammer until David was nothing but dust.
You managed to catch the end of that death.
“Karl! Karl what are you-” You rushed up to him and grabbed his arm, only for it to go straight through him. You gasped, eyes wide. Karl turned around but he was the only one who did.
“Y/N?” He went to grab your cheek and went right through you. He shivered.
“What are you looking at, old man?!” Celeste screamed, kneeling beside David's dead body. Karl turned around and realized quickly that no one else could see you. He wasn’t sure how or why or what had happened but you were dead and he could still see you.
He smashed David's head in once more.
====
2021
“There’s someone in the village,” you said. Karl looked over at you, confused.
“Yeah, there’s always people in the village kitten.” You shook your head, eyebrows furrowed and confused.
“No, everyones been killed or hiding in their houses. There's an outsider out there,” you told him. He took a step to his window and looked down at the village, now torn and broken. You were standing beside him but he hadn’t been able to actually touch you since you had died. You floated around the village, haunting people here and there when they caught a glimpse of you, staying around Karl when he went from place to place. He was the only person to talk to you.
“Ethan Winters?”
“I think so. Granted, I can’t say I’ve ever seen him before. Should you tell Mother Miranda?”
“You’ve known me long enough to know I don’t tell Mother Miranda anything I don’t have to.” You crossed your arm.
“I guess you’re right about that. Want me to go back down and check to see where he is?” you asked. Karl nodded.
“There’s a meeting soon. I imagine it will be about him. Be back soon.”
You nodded and started to go back to the village.
“Don’t go too far,” he called. You waved him away.
“You either.”

Please tell me u never did this
"Would you still love me if I was a worm?"
THANK YOU SM FOR THIS PROMPT IT WAS SO FUN LMAO
beluz, aged-up / future fic! hope you enjoy :3 cw for mention of suicide in a joking/non-serious manner
it'll be up on ao3 in a jiffy~
"Would you still love me if I was a worm?"
Philip quickly lowered his newspaper to the table they both sat at, his face scrunched up like he'd smelled something foul. "What the fuck did you just say?"
Luz pouted. Philip never curses, so why now? "Oh, come on. All I said was—"
"Would I still love you if you were—?" Philip dropped the newspaper completely to steeple his fingers together and glare over them at her, his face dead serious—dangerous, almost—like she hadn't seen from him in years. "Luz Noceda, there is nothing on this godforsaken earth—and I mean that, nothing—that could stop the terrible force within me that is my love for you. No man, no God—nothing. Nothing."
"So…" Slowly, a grin spread over Luz's face, her cheeks growing warm. "Even if I was a worm?"
Philip blinked at her. Once. Twice. Then, "Yes," he said, deadpan. "Yes, even then."
Luz squealed happily. "Eep! Yay! So what would you do right now if I turned into a worm?"
His face contorted again, this time into something haughty. He looked down his crooked nose at her unamusedly. "I would turn you back." As if it was obvious.
"And before you could do that?" Luz asked expectantly. "What would you do with worm-me?"
A moment of silence passed where Luz watched as Philip, bathed in the golden light from the dim lamp above them, debated whether or not to continue this silly conversation. Something smug rose in her, bright and bratty. She knew he would fold and continue to play her game.
He always did.
Sure enough, Philip relented with a sigh. "I would put you somewhere safe with some dirt while I looked into worm care." He dropped his chin to look at her indulgently, his voice low and tired. "Luckily, I have a phone now, so it wouldn't be terribly difficult to quickly search for the information. I would just put into a search engine caring for a pet worm and there would be a Reddit thread detailing, at length, the best soil and the best produce and the best lighting to leave you in."
"True." Luz nodded, her index fingers pressed against her lips. She appreciated his attention to detail. Still, she wasn't quite done tormenting him. "If you couldn't turn me back, what then? What would you do?"
A look crossed over Philip's face, like he wanted to be angry, but then it fell and he sighed. "I would be devastated." Luz blinked widely at his honestly, her hands falling to the table. "You're the greatest joy in my life and to see all your potential fall away into what would be, essentially, the death of your human self… It would destroy me. I don't know how long worms live, Luz, but I would care for that worm for as long as it lived, hoping above hope that my little Luz was happy. If worms can even be happy."
"This got way more serious than I meant it to—"
"And when that worm would die, Luz, I would hold a proper funeral. There would be a service, one deserving of the young woman I had so loved. And I would bury you for one final time in the dirt you had so loved, perhaps even with the dirt you had created in your enclosure. Afterwards, I would kill myself."
Luz jumped in her seat. "What the fuck?!"
All at once, Philip's serious facade melted away and he erupted into laughter, his wicked cackles so loud they shook the dining room walls. "Your face! Your face!"
Feeling her face grow hot (and her chest grow light), Luz glared at him. "I hope I become a worm and you suffer with a little worm girlfriend!"
Philip's laughter quieted, but only because he was out of breath. "I already have a little worm girlfriend."
"You're the worst!" But Luz couldn't help laughing along with him, shaking her head at his wide, toothy grin.
That was Philip, she supposed. Always one step ahead.
"If you turned into a worm, I'd eat you."
"No, you would not."
"I so would. I would."
"No!"

proximity concert (corpse husband x reader)
requested by @greenie-of-shield “reader is friends with like James Charles and is really good at guitar or ukulele and singing and one day they are all streaming together and like they hear reader playing in the background of someone’s mic and ask who it it’s like James is like “ooh yeah this is my friend (y/n)” they all say hi and corpse compliments her voice and like they ask her to play among us with them and when she dies in among us she plays music for her stream or her friends in proximity chat and stuff. She and corpse get close cause of music and it spirals into like a friends to lovers or something”
summary you’re hanging in the background as your dear friend james charles records an among us video with some youtuber friends (pewdiepie and his usual gang). you decide to entertain james with some ukulele and singing, and end up gaining the welcome attention of youtube’s beloved horror narrator.
warning swearing, sexual reference
gif cred belongs to @datchidatchi
“let’s go!” james cheered when his screen displayed a bright blue crewmate label. you cheered behind him, your voice distant and the sight of you blurry on his camera as you raised your ukulele to cheer with him. he laughed. “oh wait, im not supposed to be muted, we’re using proximity..” you laughed as he unmuted himself and went to do his tasks.
james groaned as he began to download in weapons, slumping against his desk. “this is the most boring task for no reason,” he complained. then he turned to you suddenly and you gave him a surprised look. “y/n, queen, can you sing me a song to pass time?”
you laughed but nodded at your best friend, beginning to strum your ukulele into an upbeat tune. james cheered at the familiar tune. before you could sing the first line out, he waved you over. you paused your strumming to question, “what?”
“come to the mic!” he exclaimed. “let the people hear your beautiful voice!”
you laughed again and went over to his mic. “hi,” you spoke closely into his mic, looking into his camera. he laughed as you leaned back and began to strum the tune again. “sittin’ all alone, mouth full of gum in the driveway..”
james was too busy dancing and you were too busy singing to notice his download had finished and many people had come and go through weapons during the entire scene.
“my friends aren’t far, in the back of my car lay their bodies,” you sang smoothly. “where’s my mind? where’s my mind?” you grinned. “they’ll be there pretty soon, lookin’ through my room-” you cut yourself off as an emergency meeting was called. you clapped a hand over your mouth and pressed a quick kiss to james’s cheek before sneaking back into the background.
james gaped at the perfect lipstick mark you had left on his cheek as toast spoke, “okay, does anyone else hear the ukulele playing or am i going crazy?”
“i was actually just about to ask about that,” corpse spoke. james’s camera zoomed in on your shocked face at his voice.
‘is that corpse?’ you mouthed. james nodded, leaning to mute himself.
“crazy, right?” he laughed. you nodded frantically as he turned back to the game.
“so who is it..?”
“it’s me, guys, sorry,” james spoke. “well, not me, but it’s coming from my room.”
“.. what?”
“my friend y/n is here entertaining me,” james laughed as he explained. “but im honored you’d think my voice is as angelic as hers.”
“i will kiss you!” you exclaimed, loud enough that the mic could pick up your voice. they all burst into laughter.
“sorry,” james said again.
“no, it’s okay, i was just making sure people were doing their tasks,” toast chuckled. “cause i don’t think you can play the ukulele and among us at the same time..”
“not as good as y/n did, anyway,” corpse backed up.
“yeah.”
“your voice is very pretty,” corpse complimented. you placed a hand to your heart as james grinned at you teasingly.
“thank you!” you called over. they laughed simply at the distance and abruptness of your voice. “i think your voice is pretty, too! just like the deep part.” james burst into hysterical laughter.
“thank you,” corpse chuckled. “we, uh, we can skip now.”
“you made him flustered,” james said, turning to you after everyone had dispersed to finish their tasks.
“here, wait, find him,” you spoke, scooting your chair up next to james’s mic.
“you got it, sis.”
james found corpse alone in electrical. corpse turned away from his task to stare down james. “are you here to kill me?”
“no,” james laughed.
“we’re here to sing!” you spoke into the mic.
“oh, great,” corpse chuckled.
“any requests?” you asked, picking at your strings to make sure they were tuned.
“uh.. something with cuss words.”
james let out a loud laugh as you giggled. “okay, i can do that.” you thought for a moment before looking down to your strings, “fuck you, and you, and you. i hate your friends and they hate me, too. im through, im through, im through. this that hot girl bummer anthem turn it up and throw a tantrum.
“this that got girl bummer anthem turn it up and throw a tantrum, this that throw up in your birkin bag, hook up with someone random. this that social awkward suicide that-” a body was reported and you cut yourself off again as corpse groaned.
“guys, i was getting a concert,” corpse complained as you and james laughed.
“okay, well, sykkuno is dead, so i think that trumps your concert,” pj sassed.
“where was his body?”
..
after that round, and much more entertainment of your uke playing, the crewmates managed to beat out the imposters; toast and felix.
“y/n, you should join,” corpse spoke as you all loaded back into the lobby.
“yeah!” rae agreed, many others piping up to encourage you in.
“shit, i don’t know where my laptop is,” you laughed.
“go find it!” james exclaimed. “corpse wants you to play!”
“oh my god, hold up,” you said, handing james your uke and running out of the room.
“so, corpse,” james spoke, strumming your uke as best as he could with his long nails. “what are your intentions with my girl, y/n?” everyone burst into laughter, including the now red-faced faceless youtuber.
..
you were the first to die. gasped at your screen, you grabbed your ukulele. you had gone into a separate room from james to be able to play fairly, but you weren’t very good at the game in the first place.
“james!” you yelled out.
“yeah?”
“request?”
there was a pause. “something sad!”
“got it!” you sighed as you turned back to your laptop screen, considering. you had begun streaming to your youtube when they asked you to join, and now your chat was blowing up with sad song requests. “oh, that’s a good one. thanks..” you let out a laugh. “corpselover3340. i got you, hun.”
you started to strum the song, but as you were playing, corpse’s ghost appeared by yours. “hello, y/n.” you stopped your playing, sitting up straight.
“oh, hi, corpse!” you exclaimed. “request?”
“cuss words, please.”
you laughed. “i got you, i got you..” you considered before beginning to play, “a few weeks ago, i could only do ten pushups. six months ago, i thought you were my girl. but now things have changed, and im so tired. i thought that i was your world. but now you’ve got new friends, and you have all beginnings, well i’ve got ends.. that i didn’t want.
“and yeah, you fucked some other dude.. i guess he loves u more than i do.”
“there it is.”
“what?” you asked, looking up from your uke with a laugh.
“oh, i was just waiting for the cuss word. continue.”
you let out a laugh, but just before you could start playing again, a dead body was reported.
“sean’s body was electrical..”
..
the round was long. after you serenaded corpse a few times, you both talked about music and how you both got into it. eventually, it was just james, felix, rae, and sykkuno left.
“well, there’s only one imposter left..,” sykkuno sighed after calling the meeting.
“i think it’s felix.”
as they all started pointing fingers at each other, james was mostly quiet, to your absolute surprise. then, interrupting a yelling match between rae and felix, james spoke, “do you think y/n and corpse are fucking in ghost chat?”
before anyone could react, corpse unmuted himself to confirm, “yes.” everyone exploded into laughter, you included. as innocently as he could, corpse spoke, “oh, was i unmuted? my bad..” and he muted himself again.
after that round and everyone had gotten their aggressions out on each other, sean reminded everyone with a laugh, “fucking in the ghost chat.. i can’t.”
you all laughed at the reminder.
“oh, y/n, we should go,” james sighed. “we gotta get that video edited before midnight.”
you sighed with him. “yeah, that’s gotta get done.. thank you all for letting me play, it was a lot of fun.”
“bye, y/n!”
“feel free to join again!”
“oh and corpse,” you called out.
“yeah?”
“that was not fucking,” you clarified, making everyone laugh and ‘ohhh’.
“no?” he prodded.
“nah, that purely foreplay, baby,” you confirmed. “see you all!” and you left the call just as they all exploded again.
james walked into the room you were in before you turned off your live. he placed his hands on his hips. “young lady, we need to have a talk.” you laughed and turned off signed off.

AFTER | SOKKA X READER
SUMMARY: Sokka didn’t expect the girl who held a knife to his neck to be the same girl he’d fall for. Y/N didn’t really expect to fall either.
WORD COUNT: 10k
WARNINGS: injuries, implications of death, kisses, bloodbending, threats of bodily harm, death threats
A/N: time to give sokka the attention and hype he is OWED, also im SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONGGG but this is quite possibly my favorite Y/N. writing for sokka is hard tho. im not sure how much i like this tbh but its really long omg. also thank you!!!! i feel honored to be considered the best :D you are too kind
When she was younger, Y/N joined Azula’s little troupe of girls. Though she wasn’t some loyal little soldier for her to order around, no, Y/N never feared Azula. Nor did she follow her blindly. No, it had always been a struggle for power between the two. Even when her father was booted from the throne as the rightful heir.
Losing her brother made her wonder if giving up like her father had in Ba Sing Se was the easy way out. Perhaps thats why she promised herself she would never give up. Maybe thats why she challenged Azula to... an unofficial duel when she’d heard her comment. Challenged her and won.
The new Fire Lord’s pride and joy had lost against his niece, a shame.
Y/N hadn’t thought much of it, but it probably would’ve explained why Fire Lord Ozai was rather pleased when Y/N had came to him and explained her intents to go alongside her father and cousin in banishment. She was, no matter how unlikely, another potential heir to the throne. And unlike Zuko, an actual threat. Sending her on a journey to find someone who’d been missing for a century was the best way to get rid of her.
If Y/N was honest, she viewed the banishment as more of a vacation. All her life, she had to deal with banquets, politics, war tactics, all at such a young age. It was tiring, and dull, spending day and night in the palace doing such things. Now, she had the opportunity to travel the world, though her grumpy cousin was rushing them throughout each spot, it was still nice. Zuko certainly didn’t think so, given that they hadn’t found the Avatar yet, not that Y/N believed they ever would but, it is what it is.
A sigh escaped her as she sat, on leg propped up against the other on the deck of the ship, they had arrived in the Southern Water Tribe after seeing an odd light in the distance. Maybe it was cruel, but Y/N sincerely hoped they didn’t find the Avatar. She didn’t want her vacation to end, she didn’t want to return to the politics, and she didn’t want to deal with one of the most powerful people on the planet. Aside from her own desires, Y/N couldn’t help but disapprove of Zuko’s need to please his father, the man who’d hurt him beyond forgiveness.
She sincerely doubted her father approved either. Though their relationship had been strained for some time now. Y/N didn’t hate her father, she doubted that was possible, he was a kind man and a good father. Things between them simply felt... off. She liked to think she’d gotten over it, the initial jealously she felt when she discovered her father intended to join Zuko on his hunt for the Avatar.
When she’d found out from Fire Lord Ozai.
Sometimes she wondered if her father even intended to say goodbye. But she wasn’t a fool, Y/N knew he had recently lost a son, they were both hurting and Zuko needed someone who wasn’t going to hurt him if he did something wrong. Though, Y/N saw him try to save the lives of the soldiers of the so-called great Fire Nation, not do something wrong. Regardless, Zuko needed a father figure, yes. But Y/N needed a father as she grappled with the death of her brother.
Maybe she was just a little bitter about it.
“Are you coming?” Zuko asked, his words coming out harshly.
Raising a brow, Y/N shook her head, “no. Don’t get too violent, though.” She warned, looking at him pointedly, “they’re a small tribe that’s going extinct.”
Zuko rolled his eyes as he exclaimed, “that’s not my fault!”
Sitting up to face him, Y/N smacked him upside the head as she walked past him, “considering the royal family, which you are a part of need I remind you, ordered the genocide of every single Waterbender they had...” She paused, cracking her knuckles before turning to look back at Zuko, “I would say you that everyone here probably blames you for it by assosiation.” Y/N reasoned. She had never liked the history that her ancestors had, much less approved.
Taken aback, Zuko exclaimed, “you’re a part of the royal family too!” Y/N was well aware of the circumstances surrounding his banishment, he’d tried to save lives, but war was the only thing that mattered to the Fire Nation it appeared.
His attempt at defense simply earned him a shrug, “perhaps.” Y/N didn’t consider herself a member of the royal family, and she doubted her father did either. And no matter what Zuko thought, though he was royal by blood, his banishment severed his ties to the throne permanently.
Unless they happened to find the Avatar, though that wasn’t very likely, Y/N decided she would rethinking her life choices should the Avatar be here of all places, as she rested her forearms on the side of the ship and watched Zuko march down his soldiers.
She wasn’t going to tell him that the Southern Water Tribe didn’t have a military, much less benders. As previously mentioned, the genocide destroyed the benders, and the most of the soldiers in the village had headed off to fight in the war against the Fire Nation. Though her brow did raise as she watched him yank an old lady from the small crowd of people, Y/N straightened her back, preparing to get involved.
Of course, a young warrior ended up running at her cousin, war paint and all as he attempted to attack. Key word being attempted. Watching him fall face first into the snow, Y/N realized he wasn’t a warrior, but a boy. The Avatar also happened to be a boy. A very, very young boy. Not a century year old Airbender.
Y/N supposed it was time to start rethinking her life.
Sokka didn’t know what he was supposed to do as he helped Princess Yue onto the Sky Bison. They needed to find Aang’s physical body, quickly, otherwise he wouldn’t be returning to the real world, and they happened to be fresh out of Avatars up until recently so that wasn’t really an option. Not when they needed the balance of the world to be restored immediately.
Sighing, Sokka moved to get onto the Sky Bison, only to be yanked backwards, stumbling before having a knife pressed to his neck. “What the hell!” He exclaimed in shock, garnering the attention of the others that were already on Appa. Katara’s mouth gaping open at the sight of him as Princess Yue cried out in shock.
The knife against his neck is certainly uncomfortable, and he realizes that he probably should’ve stuck around Kyoshi Island long enough to learn how to get out a situation like this. “I’m coming with you. Someone has to make sure Zuko doesn’t do anything else dumb.” Comes a voice from behind him, and Sokka’s brows furrowed in confusion, who was this? And why were they trying to kill him? More importantly, how did they know Prince Zuko, the guy who had been chasing them since Aang had come out of that iceberg. Questions ran rampant through his mind, and he nearly forgot that his life was being threatened.
That was a luxury he couldn’t afford at the moment.
Though he couldn’t see the person behind him, he could see Katara grimace at her demand, anyone associated with Prince Zuko likely had a similar end goal, to capture the Avatar. This wasn’t something they could allow, and Sokka recognized this as Katara asked, “why should we trust you?” Katara’s eyes soon met Sokka’s and he knew that no matter what he said, she would give into the girl’s demands for his safety. Sokka mentally scolded himself for failing to prevent this situation.
The girl behind him scoffed, “unlike my dear cousin,” Sokka couldn’t help the shock that flooded him, cousin? As in Zuko is this girl’s cousin? Or did she mean someone else? He was kidding himself, there was no one else it could be. “I like banishment, it’s like a fun little vacation. I could care less about the Avatar.” The knife draws in closer to Sokka’s neck, nearly drawing blood, likely expressing the fact that she could care less if Katara believed her. Though Sokka doubted she didn’t care about the Avatar, he was one of the most important people in the world.
But Sokka would likely die if she didn’t agree, or at least end up fatally injured. No matter how far Katara had come with her Waterbending, she hadn’t perfected it yet, and healing was only so effective. Sokka sincerely doubted she could beat the speed of this girl and her weapon considering the fact that she’d gotten the jump on them the first time around. Death wasn’t something he wanted, but anyone who knew Zuko couldn’t be trusted, much less someone who shared his blood. If he turned out... like that, Sokka didn’t want to imagine how this stranger ended up.
“Don’t try anything.” Katara warned, eyeing the girl wearily. Though it was an empty threat for the most part, in the air, there was little Katara could do against a foe. Though three, well two if you exclude the princess, against one seemed like favorable odds, this girl seemed talented in combat, even without bending.
She released Sokka, and he turned to see her beaming up at Katara, “happy to be doing business with ya.” Turning to Sokka, she looked him up and down, sizing him up before speaking, “be a gentleman and help me up?” Yeah, she was crazy. The pretty ones are always crazy. That, and she was Zuko’s cousin, it made sense. Though Sokka was fairly sure that she was joking, you could never be too sure.
“Who even are you?!” He exclaimed, exasperated and preparing to whip out his boomerang as he glared at her. He didn’t recognize her, but she’d likely been traveling with Zuko for quite some time now if they were related.
She just shrugged, “you can call me Y/N.” She got onto Appa with ease, Katara on guard a she eyed her, eyes piercing into her soul, Y/N raised a brow upon noticing this, “calm down. I wouldn’t have killed him.”
Katara inhaled deeply, trying to maintain patience as Sokka got into the saddle, “yip, yip.”
Y/N wasn’t really shocked when it turned out Azula was after them. Of course good old Uncle Ozai sent his most valuable asset to bring them back. Though some good at come of it, Zuko cut his ponytail, something Y/N had taken pleasure in bullying him over. Now they were on the run, in the very city that her father had tried to run to the ground all those years ago.
Irony at its finest.
Tugging at the sleeves of her Earth Kingdom garments, Y/N sighed, walking through the streets of the city. She didn’t know where she was if she was honest, and standing in the beautiful plaza, Y/N wondered if maybe, it would be better if she never returned back to that horrid apartment. Her father was starting over, getting them all jobs at a tea shop, even Zuko had tried to move on, going out on a date with a girl.
The Earth Kingdom was an odd place, but here, no one knew who she was. It wouldn’t be difficult to restart, alone. Without the expectations she’d been raised with. Fists balling up, Y/N exhaled slowly, turning a corner. There wasn’t graffiti in this part of the city, she realized, staring at the walls. Though there was an odd poster, squinting at it, she moved closer. It was a poorly drawn image of-
A Sky Bison. The same one she’d ridden on back during the Siege of the North, not that any others existed, the Sky Bison were a dying breed. Which could only mean one thing, the Avatar was in Ba Sing Se.
"Have you seen him?” She heard from behind her. Y/N recognized the voice, it belonged to the boy she’d held at knife point, “the drawing isn’t my best but-”
Turning around she spoke rapidly, “don’t freak out.” This was a problem.
Y/N liked to think she was the least threatening of the Royal Family, aside from her father that is. Though they could both be lethal in their own ways, neither demonstrated the true extents of their power unless it was truly necessary. Maybe that’s why Y/N hoped that the boy, Sokka, she believed his name was, wouldn’t freak out.
Of course, he did. Dropping the posters in his hand, he opened his mouth, likely to scream, only for Y/N to practically tackle him. She slammed his body against the wall, covering his mouth with her hand as she glared at him. Sokka let out a grunt of surprise, immediately beginning to struggle in her hold, “calm down! I don’t have a knife this time around.” Y/N cried out, her voice a hushed whisper. Of course, what she said was a lie, she always had at least three weapons on her. Upon entering the city, she’d knocked that number down to only two weapons, much to her dismay and Iroh’s relief.
She felt him lick her hand, and she quickly removed her hand in disgust, while keeping the other planted on his shoulder, they both exclaimed, “what the hell!”
Sokka’s eyes narrowed at her, “look. I don’t wanna cause a scene, so I’m just gonna go-” He sighed when her hand remained on his shoulder, firmly holding him against the wall as he tried to move away only to be pushed back into the wall. “Or not.”
“Look, you cannot go back to your little group and tell them that I’m here.” Y/N tried to choose her words carefully, if she didn’t need to, she didn’t want to suggest that her father and Zuko were also in the city. “I’m trying to have a permanent vacation, away from the Fire Nation and my crazy family, in Ba Sing Se.” She explained, slowly removing her hand from his shoulder, “think you can respect that?”
He looked at her wearily, during their last interaction, she’d made no attempts to actually injure them. And when she had the Avatar right in front of her, unlike Zuko, she hadn’t tried to kidnap him. Y/N had been honest last time, and chances were, she was being honest now. That didn’t make him feel any better about trusting her though.
“How do I know you won’t follow me and kill me in my sleep?”
Y/N looked at him incredulously, “is that a joke?” She’d considered that too though, the possibility that he’d follow her back to her shared apartment and alert his friends of their location. Y/N refused to be the reason that they lost their new lives in Ba Sing Se, and had already decided to check into an inn for the night.
Raising a brow at her, Sokka gestured for her to give him an answer, and Y/N stared at him momentarily, “well. How do I know you won’t kill me in my sleep?” Y/N retorted.
Sokka rolled his eyes at her, “I’m a good person.” Came his response.
“Debatable.”
Sokka stared at her in disbelief, “I’m trying to save the world here!” He exclaimed, and Y/N wasn’t shocked by his response, her goal had been to fluster him and she had.
Tilting her head at him, Y/N replied, “sure.” Stretching her arms upwards, she waves to him, “don’t tell your friends I was here, and we’re good.” She began to walk further into the alley, towards the other side, “see you around.” If he was here, his friends were probably around the area as well, meaning she had to leave.
His mouth gaped open and he stared at her figure as she stalked off, pausing momentarily before groaning and running after her, ending up at her side. “What do you mean, sure?” Sokka asked, confusion laced in his tone.
Y/N raised a brow at him. “What are you doing?” She wanted to laugh at his reaction, though he was now following her liked a lovesick puppy, which could prove problematic.
Crossing his arms he responded, “making sure you don’t do anything bad.” Sokka eyed her suspiciously, “because I am a good person.” He asserted.
“And I’m a bad person?”
She already knew he was going to say, ‘yes, yes you are.’ After all, she was from the Fire Nation, and Y/N had no doubt she’d done terrible things in her life, especially when she’d fallen into a dark place and taken on... less than favorable coping mechanisms.
And he’s silent for a moment, leaving Y/N to wonder if he suddenly cares about the feelings of the enemy. Only for him to say, “in my experience... good people can do bad things.”
That wasn’t what she expected. Y/N found herself stunned, speechless as she looked to Sokka, though he simply continued to walk alongside her nonchalantly. Quickly collecting herself, she looks away from him and to the nearby food stand, “that didn’t answer my question.” And as Sokka opened his mouth to likely continue his statement, Y/N realized she didn’t want to know the answer as she spoke, “you want food? I want food. Let’s get food.”
Sighing, Sokka followed her, “as long as you don’t poison me.”
Y/N’s brows furrowed at his comment, looking back at him, “do you-” A small laugh escaped her, “do you think I just carry around poison?”
Sokka didn’t know why he swelled with pride when he made her laugh, “in case you run into your enemies, absolutely.” It was probably because she was the enemy, and it took real talent to make someone who hated you laugh.
“How often do you think I run into my enemies and invite them to get food with me?” She asked, picking up a few things from the stand, before heading over to pay.
Frowning, Sokka watches her pay, “I thought we were bonding over,” he paused to take a meat bun from her and shove it into her face dramatically, “meat! Yet, I’m still your enemy.”
Y/N simply shrugged, “this is a one time thing.”
It was not a one time thing.
Sokka found himself ‘coincidentally’ running into Y/N, more and more often. She’d be walking through the streets of the upper ring about once a week, though she had started walking through the streets of the inner ring of Ba Sing Se far more frequently than normal in recent weeks. He’d been meaning to ask her why, maybe she’d also grown accustomed to their meetings and started to come around more. During their meetups they’d talk, about things other than the war, which was a conversation difficult to come by with the others. Though he cared for his friends, talking to Y/N felt different, a good different. She wasn’t overbearing like Katara, or mean like Toph, but she also wasn’t as passive as Aang.
It was odd. Knowing someone who had once held a knife to your neck in a more friendly way. Though, if Sokka was honest, he didn’t trust her, and she likely didn’t trust him either. They’d both taken precautions due to the mistrust between them, not that be blamed her. At the end of the day, they were still on opposing sides, kind of. Y/N had never seemed to care about finding the Avatar, but she was certainly loyal to her family above all else.
She’d demonstrated that in the Northern Water Tribe.
Sokka was the same, if he had saw an inkling of betrayal as a possibility, he wouldn’t hesitate to tell the others. Their safety was his priority at the end of the day, and Y/N didn’t owe him anything, just like he didn’t owe her anything. Maybe that was the beauty of it all. But for now, everything remained peaceful, calming, and simple.
Of course, all good things must come to an end.
Katara had oddly disappeared after Aang arrived with news of his vision. And then, as though things couldn’t get any weirder, Iroh arrived, Y/N’s apparent Father Iroh. Toph seemed to know him well, which certainly came as a shock to Sokka and Aang. “I need your help, Prince Zuko has been captured.” He explained, opening his mouth to continue only for Sokka to interrupt. He couldn’t help it when his brows furrowed in both confusion and frustration, Y/N had never suggested that the rest of her family was here.
“Are you crazy? You guys were trying to capture Aang not to long ago!” Sokka pointed out, throwing his arms outwards, “why not get Y/N to help?” She was certainly capable of raiding the palace and retrieving her cousin.
At this comment, Iroh’s face darkened, “we were separated in the palace. I’m unsure if they managed to capture her or if she escaped.” Oh. So that’s what he was going to say.
Sokka couldn’t help it when his face dropped, looking to Iroh he exclaimed, “well- why didn’t you lead with that!” Pushing past Aang who had been prepared to start giving a speech on why they should assist Iroh, only for his mouth to gape open as Sokka headed for the door.
“Why are you so eager?” Toph asked as they began to follow him out the door.
He faltered, quickly trying to think up a good excuse as he replied, “no reason.”
Toph’s frowned, “I can tell when you’re lying Sokka.” She reminded him.
“We can discuss this later!” He exclaimed, flustered. “Let’s go.”
Y/N had contemplated killing Zuko before.
It had never really been serious, as far as she would’ve gone was maybe injuring him badly enough that she got her point across. But at the end of the day, she protected Zuko to the best of her ability, and tried to keep his mind from being poisoned by the Fire Nation ideals that she’d once lived by unquestionably.
Now she actually wanted him dead. He stood alongside Azula, who had offered Y/N her spot in her little gang hours ago, though she’d rejected the offer much to Azula’s chagrin. But she seemed sure that Y/N would accept some time soon. Perhaps it was because Zuko had betrayed her father and left him to the Dai Li.
He had betrayed her father, the man who had practically raised both of them.
Y/N had a violent past, she wouldn’t deny, and she liked to think that she was past all that. But looking at the situation ahead of them, watching the Waterbender, Sokka’s sister, Katara, cry over the body of the Avatar, she realized that maybe violence was the answer. Just this once.
So, when she hopped in front of them, she had a plan. A violent one.
“Pull yourself together.” She snapped at Katara, who looked up at her, bloodshot eyes and tears streaming down her confused face, “he’s getting out of here alive. But first, I need you to soak them.” Y/N gestured towards the troops coming towards them, Zuko and Azula accompanying them. Katara opened her mouth, and Y/N didn’t care what she was going to say as she ordered, “now!”
Katara’s brows drew together as she released the Avatar’s head onto her lap, raising her hands to use the waterfall behind them to successfully drench the soldiers, who groaned at the discomfort but pausing temporarily before they continued towards them. “What did you think that would accomplish? What a pitiful-” Azula’s taunts were paused when she watched as Y/N drew her hands together, inhaling deeply, and Azula stopped her movement. “That’s not possible.”
Suddenly, lightning was between Y/N’s fingertips, and she extended her hand into the large puddle of water that Katara had created. Y/N had learnt to bend lightning soon after she’d mastered Firebending, from her father, he’d insisted that she only use it when necessary, so she kept her ability to herself. This was necessary, she decided, hand touching the water and sending a shock throughout everyone with it, successfully putting all of the soldiers out of commission.
Unfortunately, Azula recognized the signs of lightning bending, and withdrew alongside Zuko, and the two were now coming to attack from above at a rapid rate. Y/N whipped her head around to see Katara, mouth gaped open at all the fallen soldiers. “You two need to leave, I’ll hold them off.” She began to move to create another strike of lightning
“No.” Called out another voice, and Y/N whipped her head over to see it was her father, Dai Li agents likely nearby as he moved in front of Y/N. “You all need to leave. Take Y/N with you, she will help the Avatar reach his destiny.” Y/N wanted to laugh at that, how could he be so sure? If the boy did die, then this would all be for nothing
Y/N scoffed, “are you crazy?” She moved closer to her father, “unlike Zuko, I’m not leaving you.” She exclaimed, exasperated.
Iroh simply smiled at her as he said, “I’m proud of you, Y/N.”
Sokka knew he seemed dumb. He knew how others perceived him, as the ‘extra’ member of Team Avatar, the useless one, because he lacked bending. At the end of the day, Sokka was the brains of their operations, he was observant, and this helped him develop plans that most people would never even consider.
Not that anyone else knew, but Sokka was the only one that had actually interacted with Y/N prior to what happened in Ba Sing Se. Sure, they’d all met once or twice in the past, but Sokka had a knife to his throat then, so Y/N probably didn’t seem that appealing to the others. And he doubted they understood how odd it was that she was so... apathetic. Normally she’d tease, and joke alongside him but now?
It was odd, and nobody else could notice the shift in her personality but him, and he was concerned. Y/N had lost her father, and been betrayed by her cousin, and she had yet to talk about it, at all. Sokka liked to think that they were close enough to discuss such things, and he’d tried to get some sort of emotion out of her, the key word being tried.
Despite her apathetic personality, the others had warmed up to her for the most part. Apparently Toph had met Y/N in the past, during the time she’d run off and encountered Iroh. So, the two got acquainted fairly fast, Aang was happy to have a Firebender, and insisted that once he was back to full strength, and they’d found a better place for practice, he’d learn Firebending from her. Y/N had agreed but it was clear Aang wasn’t as excited as he was acting, Sokka figured he still associated the time he hurt Katara with Firebending.
Katara had been far less weary of Y/N than Sokka had expected, but given what Katara had told him when she’d first joined, that made sense. Y/N was a powerful Firebender who had betrayed her entire nation to help save Aang’s life, and though Katara didn’t approve of everything she’d done in the past, she tolerated her. Which was better than nothing in Sokka’s book.
They were currently camped out in the woods beside a Fire Nation town, everyone had scattered to prepare for the few nights they’d likely stay in the area. Katara had gone to the town with Toph and Aang, in search of supplies and food, while Sokka and Y/N set up the camp and collected wood to help start a fire. Y/N had insisted that she could maintain the fire without any wood, but Sokka viewed this as an excuse to get her alone and force her to discuss her feelings.
“So...” Sokka mumbled, looking to her as she leaned down to pick up another piece of wood, “lovely weather we’re having.”
Y/N turned to him, raising a brow before nodding, “yeah.” It was clear she wasn’t entirely paying attention the nonsense that was coming out of his mouth as he tried to get her to listen to him.
Sokka grabbed another piece of wood, “how have you been?”
Tilting her head at him in confusion, Y/N brought another piece of wood into her arms, “fine.” Looking up at the dimming sky she frowned, “we should start heading back to that spot we’d found earlier.” Y/N turned to begin walking, and Sokka struggled to match her pace.
His brows furrowed in frustration as he stared at her, the light of the falling sun filtering in between the trees and onto them. Y/N seemed to glow as she maneuvered between the trees, “how have you been sleeping?” Even Sokka sounded confused at the question he asked, but he didn’t know how to broach the topic with Y/N.
She simply paused her movement, turning to him, he stumbled slightly due to the abrupt stop, and met her eyes. “Just ask what you wanna ask, Sokka. Stop dancing around whatever it is.” Y/N sounded tired, looking to him expectantly as she awaited his question. Sokka scolded himself for being so obvious that she’d noticed something was up.
He sighed, “are you okay?” And she opened her mouth to respond but he continued, “actually? You can say that you are okay, and not mean it. Y/N you lost your dad and were betrayed by your cousin, and you-” Sokka grimaced as he met her eyes, “you haven’t been the same since you joined us.”
Y/N is silent for a moment, then her eyes were piercing into his, “how would you know that I haven’t been the same?” She asked, turning away to continue walking back to the chosen campsite, “it’s not like you know me.” His statement had set her off it appeared, but her response had easily done the same for him.
“Are you serious? Not like I know you?” He scoffed, jogging to catch up with her, “I know that you do whatever it takes to protect the people you care about. I know that you really like Earth Kingdom food because most of the food within the Fire Nation is on the spicier side.” Y/N didn’t seem to be listening, and the camp was in sight, but Sokka continued, “I know that you get really cold easily unless you regulate your body temperature with your Firebending. And I know that you can’t pick a favorite color because you are very indecisive.”
Aggressively, Y/N dropped the sticks into the center of the campsite as they arrived, turning to him, “you can stop now.” Her voice was almost taunting as she spoke, sarcastic in a way.
Sokka simply followed suit, placing the firewood in the center and facing her head on, “and most importantly, I know what it’s like to lose someone.” He takes her hand, and Y/N practically growls at the contact, attempting to yank her hand out of his grasp, she ends up pulling him closer towards her. Sokka clumsily topples onto her, knocking the both of them down into the dirt with a grunt. His forearms preventing him from crushing Y/N under his body weight as he held himself up, his eyes meet hers.
Y/N finds herself glaring daggers at him, while Sokka finishes his little speech with, “you don’t have to deal with this alone.”
And in that moment, he looks at her, really looks at her. And she’s really pretty.
Y/N opens her mouth to say something to him, only for someone else to begin speaking, “are we interrupting something?” Toph. Looking up, Sokka sees the others as well, Aang looks rather smug as he wiggles his eyebrows at Sokka, and Katara gives him a pointed look, likely disappointed that he’d fraternizing with the former enemy. He can’t help it when he feels his cheeks warm, and before he can move to get off Y/N, she’s launched him off of her, and he’s flat on his back on the ground. Toph laughs at the actions, bending a seat of earth for herself and the others before falling backwards into it, the girl seems to wish she had popcorn as she watched the moment unfold.
“No.” Y/N mumbles, bringing herself to her feet and dusting herself off. “I’ll be in my tent if you need me.” She retreats into one of the tents they’d set up earlier, and Sokka groans as he lets his head fall backwards into the ground and runs his hands over his face.
When he removes them, Aang is standing over him, along with Toph, while Katara organizes the firewood. “So... did we interrupt something?” Toph asked.
Sokka just sighs, his plan failed. This time at least. Next time, his goal would be to make her laugh, to make her smile. At least she had expressed some emotion, anger was better than nothing.
Anger seemed to turn to annoyance, since Y/N doesn’t leave her tent until nightfall and Sokka can’t help but wonder what was entertaining enough to keep her in there for all that time. When she does exit, she uses her Firebending to light a fire, and uses the firewood they’d collected earlier to ensure it stays alight. The rest of the group was seated around the center of the campsite, and Sokka wonders if she’s going to go back to her tent when she realizes the only open seat is next to him.
She doesn’t return to her tent though and he’s grateful. Though she sits as far as possible from him on the bench that Toph had created, half-heartedly listening to the things that the others are saying. Y/N can feel herself getting cold and can’t help the resent that bubbles up in her chest as she recalls what Sokka send earlier. Exhaling deeply, a puff of blue fire escapes her mouth and Y/N feels nauseous at the small reminder of Azula.
This catches Sokka’s attention, though the others are too enraptured in the story Aang was telling, Sokka turned to her, “cold?” He asked, leaning to the side to grab a blanket from his small pack, he offers it to her.
Y/N knew she wouldn’t be able to regulate her temperature when she fell asleep, but accepting the blanket from Sokka felt like... it felt like accepting him and everything he had said about her. So, when she doesn’t take the blanket from his hands, Sokka sighs, moving to put it back, only for Y/N to snatch the blanket from his hand and wrap it around herself begrudgingly.
This was her way of apologizing, moving closer to Sokka on the small bench she huffed as she pulled the blanket tighter around herself and turned her attention to Aang. She’d been mean, she wouldn’t deny, but what was she supposed to say? Exhaling deeply, Y/N closes her eyes temporarily, allowing drowsiness to consume her for a moment, before looking back to Aang.
It isn’t until Sokka feels a weight fall onto his shoulder midway through his own story that he realizes Y/N has fallen asleep, his mouth gaping open in shock as he pauses his words. He quickly shakes off the shock, cheeks warming as he turns back to the rest of the group, who all regard him curiously. Aang once again wiggles his eyebrows and Sokka ignores the action, continuing his story. Though he’s more weary of his vivid hand movements in fear of awakening Y/N, and noticeably quiets his voice. Sokka finds himself wishing he was Y/N as he listens to Katara’s Water Tribe horror story intently, after all, this is the most peaceful he’s ever seen her.
It doesn’t last long, because she’s soon startled awake, hand going to her side where she keeps her dagger as she and Toph speak simultaneously, “someone’s coming.”
As an old woman emerges from the shadows, Sokka practically holds Y/N down to keep her from lunging at her and attacking as the woman speaks. And of course, Y/N’s distaste for the woman doesn’t stop there, even when she invites them into her home, though Sokka doesn’t blame her. She’s a suspicious woman.
It’s not until he and Aang are attacking each other that Sokka regrets preventing Y/N from attacking the old woman when she had the chance. Katara is struggling to move, and Sokka can only hope that Toph and Y/N return from the cave soon as he yelps upon nearly making contact with Aang, the old woman laughing cynically. Sokka watches as she shifts, hand outstretching behind her, “don’t think I forgot you little Firebender.”
His eyes widen in both shock and fear as Y/N’s body is suddenly thrown onto the ground in front of him. Her body rising almost mechanically, back to a stand, Sokka realizes there’s lightning at her fingertips, the woman manipulating her body to aim for Sokka. “A shame you’ll be the woman to end your friend’s life isn’t it,” She’s making eye contact with Katara who is crying out and begging for her to stop.
Sokka can see the panic in Y/N’s eyes as the her hands aim towards him, “Y/N. It’s okay.” He calls out her, in an attempt at assurance that he doubts does much to soothe her. “It’s okay.” He repeats, squeezing his eyes shut as he prepares for the lightning to hit him. Except it never does, instead, it goes upwards into the sky as Y/N cries out in pain, having moved her body despite the woman blending her blood.
She had overpowered Hama’s bloodbending, something that clearly came as a shock to the old woman as Y/N turned around sluggishly, staring at the shocked old woman as blue fire left her mouth once more, chest heaving. Sokka could feel the weight on his bones slowly disappear, leaving behind an ache, the woman likely intended to focus her abilities onto Y/N, who was struggling to walk towards her.
“Scared?” Y/N asked, looking up at the woman, “you should be.”
The next time that Team Avatar feared Y/N. She was face to face with Zuko.
He’d approached them as they sat in the Air Temple. And Y/N had practically jumped out of her seat, preparing for a fight as lightning seemed to dance at her fingertips. Though Sokka knew better than to allow her to attack her cousin, and grabbed her arm. “Can you guys handle this?” He asks the others, maintaining eye contact with Y/N. The others looked to them understanding what would likely occur if Y/N was allowed to be involved.
Zuko wouldn’t walk away from that fight.
“We got this Sokka.” Katara assured, pure hate in her eyes as she stared Zuko down, and Sokka couldn’t help but wonder if maybe he should remove both of them from the situation.
Sokka’s hand found Y/N’s, and it was almost burning hot, a sparks seeming to fly between them, he pulls at her hand. Y/N hesitantly allows him to drag her away, though she turns back momentarily to meet Zuko’s eyes. “I’ll kill you later, cousin.” She promises, and her voice is scarily calm. “For my father.” The condescending tone in her voice and the wince Zuko has in response is enough for Sokka to know that her intent was to hurt him emotionally if she couldn’t do it physically, and it was clear she had been successful.
Inhaling deeply, Y/N closes her eyes temporarily as Sokka brings her into one of many abandoned rooms in the temple, sitting her down onto a bed before kneeling down in front of her. “Are you good?” He asks.
“That’s a stupid question.” Comes her response.
Sokka tilts his head at her, giving her a smile, “well I’m a stupid guy.”
He’s rubbing gentle circles in her hand as she shakes her head, a small laugh escaping her, “no you’re not.” Her voice cracks and she cringes at the sound so she clears her throat, staring at the wall beside her. Sokka can’t help the way his heart swells at this comment, because for once he doesn’t feel like the comic relief, he doesn’t feel like the side character. Though he appreciates the rest of Team Avatar and loves them all dearly, at times, they didn’t take him seriously.
Y/N makes him feel important. Though he doesn’t say this as he looks at her, clearly shaken by Zuko’s sudden appearance, she speaks once more, “are you sure I can’t kill him?”
This time Sokka laughs, shaking his head, “I’m sure Katara would love to help you with that, but I doubt Aang would approve.”
Y/N nods slowly, letting out a shaky breath as a tear escaped her, though she quickly wiped it away and looks to the ground. “You wanna sit with me?” She asks, patting the spot on the bed beside her.
“Sure.” He replies softly, moving to sit on the bed with her. One he’s situated, Y/N leans her head onto his shoulder, and Sokka finds his hand wrapping around her waist. And they sit like this for several moments.
Taking a deep breath, Y/N removes her head from his shoulder and looks to him, “thank you.”
Sokka raises a brow, “for what?”
“Being here.” She replies, bringing her hand to move a hair from his face, Sokka watches her actions intently and in awe. “With me.” Her hand remains on his face for longer than necessary, and when she moves to let it fall back into her lap, Sokka’s hand cups hers.
They’re both silent when Sokka’s hand releases hers, and his other hand leaves her waist, both coming to her face. The look in his eyes tells her enough, and she nods to him.
The kiss felt like the first breath of fresh air in a while. Maybe it’s because it had been long overdue, but as Y/N brought her hands to his arms to pull him closer, she felt her head empty of all thoughts.
He pulls away momentarily, their foreheads resting against each others, he can see her eyes are shut, lashes pressed against her cheeks. “I hope,” Sokka pauses, and her eyes flutter open to look at him, he can feel his cheek warm as he continues, “I hope I can always be here, with you.” It’s a confession in its own way, and Sokka understands the weight of his words as he watches her reaction.
She opens her mouth, likely to reply, be closes it quickly, and Sokka can’t help the panic that floods him. Though this is quickly replaced by the feeling of her lips on his as her hand collides with his chest and pushes him down on the bed, earning a grunt from him.
“Guys, Zuko is gone-” Y/N throws herself onto the floor as she rolls off Sokka, and he sits up immediately. “Am I interrupting something now?” Aang asked, giving Sokka a look.
Y/N clears her throat, “no.” Sokka couldn’t help it when his brows drew together at this comment, bringing a hand to his temple as he sighed, and Y/N stood, dusting off her thighs as she mumbled, “see you guys later.”
She started avoiding him after that.
When Zuko joined the group, she’s also made a point to avoid him no matter how hard he tried to apologize to her. And of course, when Sokka first showed him to his room they had a... chat. To put it simply, Sokka had threatened him.
Just a little.
“So yeah, here it is, your room.” Gesturing to the room, Sokka gave Zuko a tight lipped smile, watching him wearily.
Zuko’s back was to him as he placed his stuff down, “thank you.” He said, expecting that to be the end of it, upon hearing the door close he assumed Sokka had left.
When he turned around, Sokka was still very much there. “Let’s have a chat, Prince Zuko.” It didn’t go unnoticed by Sokka how the boy grimaced at the use of his title, though that didn’t stop him from moving forward and placing a hand on Zuko’s shoulder a little too tightly. “Y/N does not want to speak with you.”
“I know,” Came his reply. “Thank you for keeping her from... killing me. The other day. I intend to apologize-”
A small laugh escaped Sokka, “next time. I won’t stop her.” This was for multiple reasons, one of which being that Y/N was avoiding him, and the other being that he wished to respect her and her feeling about Zuko. “And you need to respect her wishes. One of those wishes being, avoiding you. Until she approaches you, leave her be.”
Zuko’s brows furrowed at this comment, “she’s my cousin. You can’t expect-”
“Leave. Her. Be.”
Zuko became silent, nodding slowly as he looked to Sokka curiously.
And now, to avoid some of his problems and solve some of them, Sokka ended up running away in a hot air balloon with the person he related to the most at the moment, and the person he threatened rather recently. Zuko. Both of them were being avoided by someone important in their lives, and they both had slightly crazy younger sisters. Though their conversations were certainly... odd.
“My first girlfriend turned into the moon.”
Zuko looked at him for a moment before saying, “that’s rough, buddy.” There was silence after this, a temporary lapse in conversation that Zuko seemed determined to fill. “So...” Zuko mumbled. “You and my cousin huh.”
It wasn’t a question, Sokka realized this, but he disregarded it as he responded, “what about us?” Playing dumb would hopefully get him to drop the subject.
Zuko raised his brows at Sokka, “us?”
Scolding himself, Sokka realized he’d unintentionally dug a deeper hole for himself when he said this as he tried to avoid Zuko’s gaze. “Not really.” Sokka replied, “she’s avoiding me too.”
Nodding, Zuko gave him a tight lipped smile, “what did you do?”
“I wish I knew.” Sokka could only make assumptions about why Y/N had begun to avoid him, but at the end of the day was confused over it.
He really needed to talk to her.
As the day of Sozin’s Comet drew closer, Sokka had started trying to talk to Y/N more and more, she’d keep basic conversation but whenever he tried to address... the kiss, Y/N would shut down the conversation. And now, it was the day of Sozin’s Comet, and they established that Zuko and Katara would take on Azula, Aang would take on Ozai, and the rest of them would go after the army that was heading for the Earth Kingdom.
It seemed that Sokka intended to try to speak with her once more as he approached her while she strapped a dagger to her thigh. “We need to talk.” He said, plopping down onto a rock beside her.
“About battle strategy?” She asked, looking to him, “I had some ideas.”
Play dumb, play dumb, play dumb.
Sokka’s brows furrowed as he shook his head, “about the kiss, Y/N.” Y/N tried to hide her shock at his forwardness, he’d never been this blunt before, during his previous attempts to discuss this with her. Turning to him, she prepared to speak but he silenced her, “you’re going to listen this time.” Grimacing, he looked away, towards the horizon. “I don’t know what’s going to happen today. And if something goes wrong, I need you to know-”
“Nothing is going wrong.” Y/N stated firmly. “Nothing. So, we can have this conversation after.”
Sokka sat up from his place on the rock, moving in front of her, “there’s no way to guarantee that Y/N.”
Squeezing her eyes shot, Y/N took a deep breath, “I’ll make sure nothing happens to you guys.” She promised, “and I swear we can talk about this after.” She grabs onto his hands, holding them in hers as she looks away. Y/N knew why she was avoiding it. He was right, it was totally possible for one of them to die, and a relationship in the midst of a war was the worst possible idea. After would be better, or at least that’s what she’d told herself.
The pleading look in his eyes almost burns through her resolve as he asks, “will we?” It almost hurts that he doesn’t believe her, but Y/N can’t blame him.
“We need to go.” Her voice was almost a whisper as she releases his hands. Even if she wanted to continue discussing the subject, they needed to begin the battle soon.
Sokka frowned though, “if you don’t want this, just tell me and I’ll-” He sighed, bringing a hand to his temple. “I’ll stop bothering you.”
Y/n began to shake her head, “you are never a bother to me I just-” Sighing, she looked into his eyes, “I want this. I do, I’m just scared, and we’re in the middle of a war Sokka!” She exclaimed, the words spilling out of her mouth before she can stop them.
“You think I don’t know that?” Sokka cried out, exasperated. “Y/N I’m so scared that something is going to go wrong, and I’ll never get to tell you that I-”
“Don’t say it.” She interrupts, fear in her veins as she watches him.
So, he didn’t.
If she didn’t feel like she had something to come back to, maybe that would make it easier. Sacrifices would have to be made to reach victory, and Y/N wouldn’t hesitate to be the one to make them if it meant the others survived. They deserved to see the new world, the world of peace, prosperity, and freedom, the one that came after all this.
Y/N could feel the power flooding her as the comet drew closer, pure and raw power. Though this accompanied by her skill would likely help her in the upcoming battle, dozens of Firebenders with half her skill and the power of the comet was something she was definitely worried about. Overpowering them all was unlikely, and in the best case scenario, Y/N could slow them down. But she wasn’t a fool. In war, there were always casualties, and she was prepared to become one of many.
Then there were the thoughts in the back of her mind. Though nobody had discussed it, the throne could potentially go to her after all this, and that wasn’t really something Y/n was looking forward to debating. Perhaps it was selfish, but Y/N didn’t really care. Was it wrong of her to dream of escaping the shackles that bound her to the Fire Nation since birth, to leave behind the politics and the lies and the pain of it all?
Maybe.
Sokka knew Y/N had a lot going on in her mind right now. And he knew she was scared of what was to come, and no matter how much it hurt him, he respected her wishes to wait until this battle was over to discuss whatever it was between them. He knew where he stood. But now that Suki had left them, he found himself beginning to regret it. On the top of the Air Balloon, Toph was practically blind, and Sokka could do little in terms of long distance, aside from his boomerang. Which left Y/N to do her best to defend them from the Firebenders that had begun to swarm them.
“Go!” She cried out, knocking one of the Firebenders off the balloon. “Take out the rest of the fleet.” Y/N dodged the oncoming flames, intercepting them with her own to prevent the others from getting burned.
But Sokka wasn’t going to let anyone die today. “You still owe me a conversation,” came his response, looking down at the bridges on the Air Balloon. “Jump!” Sokka cried out as another ball of fire rushed towards them, he took Toph by the hand and hoped that Y/N followed.
Thankfully, she did, he took notice of her as he fell towards the bridges extending from the giant hot air balloon. They were all screaming as they fell, and Y/N grunted in pain as she hit Sokka, tumbling over him and off the edge, yelping as her hands grasped the bridge, with little leverage. Toph similarly went over the side, her screams filling Sokka ears as Y/N released one of her hands from the bridge and caught Toph’s wrist.
Panic flooded Sokka as he scrambled to the edge of the bridge, Y/N’s hand slipping, “Sokka! Hurry up-” Another scream rips out of her as she loses her grip on the edge.
Nearly falling as he grabbed her hand, his chest heaved. “It’s gonna be okay.” He promised, looking into Y/N’s panicked eyes. “It’s gonna be fine Toph!” He cried out to her.
“Yeah, right!” She called out into the wind, the fear evident in her voice despite the sarcastic nature of the comment. “Y/N I don’t wanna die.”
Y/N almost can’t hear her, too focused on maintaining her grip on both Sokka and Toph’s hands. She exhales slowly, eyes falling on the soldiers that are beginning to make their way down to them as she replied, “you’re gonna be fine, I promise. I’m gonna get you to Sokka, okay?”
Sokka was internally panicking, he wouldn’t be able to fight back against the incoming soldiers if both his hands were occupied, but his grip was faltering and he couldn’t pull them both up. Grimacing as he looked down at the two, he nodded in agreement to Y/N signaling that he was ready. It made sense in his mind, she would be able to use her free hand to Firebend, which was far more useful than anything he could provide at the moment.
Inhaling deeply, Y/N looks to Toph, “Toph, I need you to climb up my body, and grab Sokka’s free hand, okay?”
Toph’s death grip on her hand seems to grow stronger, tears brimming her eyes, “I- I don’t think I can.”
Y/N shakes her head at these words, “yes, yes you can. Bring your legs up to grab my lower body, and then make your way up, okay? Like a tree.”
Toph shook her head rapidly, “I’ve never climbed a tree!”
Sokka couldn’t help but grow impatient as he exclaimed, “there are soldiers coming, Toph please!” His hand was growing sweaty as he used his free hand to throw his sword at one of the oncoming soldiers, effectively knocking him down.
Y/N felt her arm swing slightly, and watched as Toph blindly extended her legs, finally managing to wrap them around her legs. She released Y/N’s hand and wrapped both arms around her lower body, slowly inching upwards until her legs were around Y/N’s waist and her arms were on her shoulders. “Good job, now reach up, as far as you can, and Sokka’s gonna grab your hand.” Y/n instructed using her free hand to pat the hand that Toph had wrapped around her.
Y/N could feel the young girl’s tears fall onto her shirt as she extended her hand upwards, Sokka’s freehand moving as far down as possible. The strain on Y/N’s body slowly becoming too much as tears leaked out of her eyes.
Maybe it would be better to just... let go.
She quickly shook off those thoughts, Toph, Toph, Toph, she couldn’t do anything brash until Toph was safe. Y/N watched as Sokka’s hand narrowly missed Toph’s. “Sokka, please.” Y/N whispered, looking to him with pleading eyes.
Maybe it was the desperation he heard in her voice that moment, or maybe it was pure luck, put his fingers grazed Toph’s and he latched on, extending his arm as far as possible and gripping her hand. “Now let go of me, and Sokka’s gonna pull you up, okay?” Y/N explained, looking to Sokka, his eyes meeting hers. Y/N quickly realized he couldn’t lift either of them up. Just like her, this was straining his muscles, and Sokka was struggling to keep both of them up.
“Sokka.” She said, demanding his attention, his eyes met hers, filled with fear as Toph relieved Y/N’s body of her weight and evened out the distribution on Sokka’s body. “You can’t fight back with both your hands taken.” More tears were streaming down her face as she spoke, “a-and... you can’t pull us both up.” Sokka was crying too now, shaking his head rapidly as Y/N simply pointed out the facts.
Toph’s grip on his hand tightened, “we’re all going to die.” There was resignation in her voice, and it hurt Y/N to hear it.
“We’ll figure it out. We are all going to be okay.” He stated firmly, a shaky breath leaving him as he made an attempt to pull them both upwards, a failed attempt.
Squeezing her eyes shut momentarily, Y/N allowed herself to imagine it, a life with Sokka and the rest of her friends. A life where they were all happy. Where everyone made it out of this war alive, and they helped bring balance to the world.
To give them that world, they had to end this war. And what was war without death?
Opening her eyes, she looked to Sokka, and he was panicked, noticing that far more soldiers had surrounded them and were preparing to mercilessly throw them off the balloon. “Sokka.” She repeated, and he looked to her with a tear streaked face.
“I love you.”
Everything seemed to slow as she spoke this words, and Y/N didn’t see the horror on his face for long as the grip of his hand faltered when she released it, he was screaming, crying, begging for her to stop. Toph clearly didn’t understand what was going on as she began to call out Y/N’s name in a panic.
And then she was falling.
It appeared there would be no after.
It felt peaceful, she decided. Falling. The stress on her body had dissipated and she caught one final glimpse of Sokka’s mortified face before going through the clouds. The comet was visible from where she was, the horizon, it was a beautiful way to die. But staring at the comet she realized she wanted to know what would come after, she realized that Toph was practically helpless and all Sokka had was a boomerang against dozens of Firebenders.
They would die. So, what was the point of her sacrifice? What was the point of her dying?
No, she wouldn’t be dying today.
Inhaling deeply, Y/N felt the power course through her veins, and she reminded herself that she was Y/N L/N, a force to be reckoned with. Nobody would forget that as fire tore through the soles of her shoes, and extended from her hands, propelling her upwards.
She was the daughter of the famed Dragon of the West. And she would take on his mantle, she decided, as she flew upwards and through the clouds.
She could see Sokka had managed to bring Toph upwards and onto the platform alongside him, and they were surrounded by Firebenders. It was clear that they’d seen her when their mouthes gaped open, and a few of the soldiers began to retreat, much to the chagrin of their commanding officer. Y/N found herself ceasing her Firebending and falling towards the platform, she landed in a roll and rose on one knee before opening her mouth and allowing fire to pour outwards.
The Firebenders fell off the bridges beside them one by one, and those who didn’t retreated back inside along with the others at the sight of the Air Balloon that Suki had evidently comandeered.
Closing her mouth, Y/N’s chest heaved, and she felt Toph tackle her from behind, “you’re alive!” She exclaimed, punching Y/N’s arm roughly, “idiot.” She dug her head into Y/N’s shirt.
“Yeah, I am an idiot.” Y/N replied breathlessly, holding the girl tightly.
When Toph finally released her, she gave her a smug look, “I’ll give you and him a minute.” Though this was partially an excuse to head back inside and into the safety of the balloon, maybe even attack some of the remaining Firebenders, it was also because Toph could read the room.
And there stood Sokka, mouth gaping open, tears streaming down his smiling face as he looked at her, before lunging towards her similar to how Toph had. Except his hands came to her cheeks as he brought their lips together, effectively knocking the two onto the ground of the platform, be pulled apart from her with a smile on his face, “I love you too.”
Yeah, after was looking pretty good right about now.

warnings: season 2 and ova spoilers (if you haven’t watched the ova’s yet they’re on youtube but this only references ‘a choice with no regrets’ aka levi’s ova)
levi has never had...feelings for anyone before.
the romantic kind, of course. he's felt plenty of things towards people on a regular basis—anger. hate. disgust. confusion. annoyance. frustration.
to be fair he has had the occasional friend, or the occasional person who he respected, and others who he flat out wanted to protect. just never anything romantic.
this didn’t bother him, falling in love wasn’t his top priority or anything. his life has been one traumatic experience after the other. there was no time for him to be romantically involved with another, nor was he willing to take the risk of potential heartbreak that would add to his constantly growing list of traumatic events.
when he first met y/n l/n he acknowledged her as nothing more than another member of the survey corps. someone he would work with. someone he would train with. someone who he would give orders to if deemed necessary. someone who would join his team. someone he would slowly become more curious about. someone who would bring him feelings that he couldn't describe in words.
his plans had clearly gone astray.
y/n was supposed to be nothing more than a colleague, but somehow fate had much more in store. the young girl began to appear more and more in his life and before he could even process it, she was already apart of his team.
now that the they were spending almost everyday together, along with the rest of his team, levi had the opportunity to try to solve the mystery that was y/n.
there was something that he felt about her that he couldn't put into words. the way she was determined to save humanity and her friends, the way she poured everything she had into everything she did, the way she was strong in every aspect of the word, the way she got along with the rest of the team, the way she laughed, the way she smiled, the way she spoke, the way she moved, all of it. it all encapsulated him.
what is this emotion ? fascination ? curiosity ? these words weren’t completely right, but they safe enough for him to settle on for now.
yes, that's all. the brat just makes me curious because i don't understand her.
at least, that's what he told himself. but the tingles that remained on his skin from the place where she accidentally brushed up against him or the way his stomach felt after his eyes met hers or the way he noticed himself always wanting to be near her or the way he wanted to protect her more than anything in the world, said otherwise.
whatever message he wanted to send probably definitely was not passed on. when y/n accidentally brushed up against him he snapped back "watch it." when she made eye contact with him, it was more her meeting his eyes and him seemingly glaring back. when he took a few steps towards her to be closer, she felt paranoid, wondering if he was determining whether or not he should scold her for something. when she was on missions and he occasionally had to step in and save her tail, she felt like she was slacking.
truthfully in all these situations levi just resorted back to his true nature. he never meant any harm so clearly he wasn’t the best at expressing his feelings. henceforth, the three word phrase was foreign to him.
after all the many challenges that came with trying to understand each other, the couple finally got together. but despite being together, neither had said the 'L word’ yet.
to be honest, y/n hadn’t dwelled on it too much. she had learned the best way to survive mentally was to live in the moment. when the time would come, the time would come, however, the thought that time wasn’t a guarantee gnawed at the back of her brain. she always wondered how levi felt about the matter, but never got around to asking. little did he know he’d once again find out for himself that time wasn’t a guarantee.
just like every other day, y/n awoke to levi placing a kiss on her forehead. he wished nothing more than to let the love of his life sleep late into the morning in their shared bed, safe from the dangers of the world, but there was another mission today in which he needed her by his side.
the plan was to head to the outskirts of wall rose to a forest that was known to be surrounded by titans. hanji convinced erwin to let her try to capture titans in the forest again, as it all but worked on the female titan. erwin agreed, not only because he too believed the survey corps had all the materials necessary to capture titans again, but also because he knew the scouts needed more real time practice in the forest. levi wasn’t happy to hear the commander refer to this as “practice,” since so many lives were guaranteed to be lost in the process, but there was nothing he could do about it.
with everyone’s approval and the preparations complete, they were off. the ride there had been as close to smooth sailing as possible, with erwin successfully rerouting the troops to avoid as many unnecessary collisions with titans as possible and a surprisingly low amount of abnormals in their path. but everyone knew the real problems would be up ahead.
in this area, the titans were mainly surrounding the thick trees in the forest. it wasn’t too far from the forest where they encountered the female titan so the layout of the jungle was fairly similar. a large path ran straight through the trees, leaving the scouts lots of opportunities.
before the forest itself came into view, the hoard otherworldly creatures showed up. the crowd of titans didn’t seem to be too bad, with none surpassing ten meters. a bit of the outer edges of the formation took a hit, but everyone else made it into the woods unscathed.
unlike the last time levi’s squad was in the forest, their objective was not to be the bait. instead, they were to take to the trees and be on clean up duty. it was a little different from their normal clean up duty, as they weren’t doing chores around the castle or cabin—they were eliminating stray titans. the survey corps was only prepared to capture two titans, so any others that entered needed to be exterminated.
they weren’t the only ones with this job, but erwin placed them as the last hoop the titans had to get through before they were captured. any titans that escaped the first few groups were more likely than not going to be challenging, so they needed to be left with the most talented squad.
the eight scouts that made up levi’s squad traveled the path that cut through the forest until they found the four trees in which they were to set up camp. levi and jean were on the first tree, armin and sasha on the one across from them, connie and mikasa on the next, and y/n and eren on the fourth. the formation placed y/n and levi diagonal from each other so they could each defend half of the younger scouts in their squad if necessary, as well as had the team in pairs that weren’t often together for even more practice.
the ground rumbled beneath the group as they looked down to see the first wave of soldiers acting as bait pass through. after some time and a few more waves, including hanji and erwin who were in charge of the traps, everyone passed through and the titans came into sight.
the ground troops had all reported that no abnormals or titans above ten meters made it in so they all relaxed—or relaxed as one can be when they’re facing man-eating giants. levi recognized the last troop passing through and gave his second in command a nod which she returned, letting everyone else know it was show time.
the rumbling of the ground from the horses before was nothing compared to that of the titans. not counting the first two, there were nine titans in all. everyone gave a silent thanks to the squads who had narrowed down the hoard before it arrived to them.
finally, the first two titans ran past the trees levi’s squad was hidden in, chasing the ground troops. with a loud “now !” from levi, the rest of them deployed from their hiding places. thanks to the squad’s impeccable teamwork and countless hours of training in forests closer to home, the remaining seven titans were taken out without a hitch. y/n couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride as she watched her team improve with every mission and it was obvious they all felt the same way. the way they beamed and had to hold back their celebration was as a clear as day.
the team regrouped, with y/n checking the younger members for any life threatening wounds and levi double checking all the titans were taken care of. she had just finished examining sasha when levi came back and announced the next step of today’s plan. everyone was to head forward to meet the other troops and aid in getting the titans back to the walls. although the titans may be secured, there were still infinite possibilities for catastrophes that could happen so they needed all the backup they could get. the young cadets nodded in agreement then followed after levi as he took to the sky, with y/n tailing the rest of the group. if y/n and levi weren’t side by side during missions, this was always the formation everyone fell into. levi led the way, protecting the front of the party, and she acted as the caboose to make sure no one got left behind as well as to protect them from the back.
after a few failed tricks from eren as he tried to show off with his gear and a quick scolding from levi, the rest of the scouts came into view. the mission appeared to be a success. the final two titans were both apprehended, one nailed to the ground and the other bound in the air.
squad levi landed and began to greet everyone but didn’t get very far when hanji’s squeals flooded everyone’s ears.
the scientist was practically bouncing up and down as she came over. “squad levi ! all in one piece, i see. let me show you what we’ve done,” she gushed, ushering all of them towards the titans.
it was no surprise she was so excited. she had been waiting for this day to arrive for ages, but levi still gave a quick “tch,” under his breath out of annoyance which forced y/n to cover her mouth with her palm to stifle a laugh.
the eight, now nine, of them cranned their necks up to see the side of the beast that was hammered into the ground. the sight would’ve been cruel if it were anything other than a titan, but remembering all the pain they’ve brought to each one of them, no one did so much as bat an eye. returning the focus back to hanji, everyone watched as she took a sharp inhale to prepare for her long ramble about how everything worked. lucky for y/n, before hanji could exhale, levi grabbed his partner’s arm and pulled her away.
he pulled her close so he could whisper in her ear, “come on, let’s go find erwin.”
as much as she wanted to argue with him and tell him he was being mean, she really didn’t want to listen to hanji’s spiel that she had heard a million times over. a tiny pang of guilt struck y/n for leaving the other half of the squad behind forced to listen to her, but sometimes everyone has to take one for the team.
she threw a quick wave over her shoulder to the others, then followed levi, who was still holding her arm, as he dragged her through the crowd of other scouts who were just floating around, waiting for orders, until he finally spotted the commander.
the tall man’s eyes fell upon the pair and he drew himself away from whomever he was speaking with to come greet them.
“ah levi, y/n,” erwin began. levi’s expression stayed the same but y/n offered the man a small smile and wave which he returned with a nod. erwin was actually the one who recommended to levi that he should consider y/n to be apart of his squad, so she heavily credited him entirely with starting your relationship with levi (even if levi disagreed every time she told him this).
levi and erwin fell into formal conversation, discussing the remainder of the mission, which left y/n realizing levi hadn’t really saved her from a talk you’ve heard countless times before, but instead brought her into another one.
hanji’s rambling would have been more interesting than this she thought to yourself as she began lazily scanned the small sea of scouts scrambling around, looking for a way to entertain yourself until the two men were done talking. one group in particular caught her eyes.
the soldiers seemed to be much more jittery than everyone else. they frantically looked amongst each other and towards the titan that hanji had just finished showing the rest of levi’s squad, and seemed to be contemplating a solution to an unknown issue.
it was clear something was up.
just as she placed her hand on levi’s shoulder to bring his and erwin’s focus over to the scene, the ground began to shake, which caught their attention for her.
no one had time to react when dust flew up everywhere, obstructing everyone’s views so they couldn’t see where the loud crashes that followed came from. a strong force slammed into them, throwing them who knows how far into the air. the fear of hitting the ground barely had enough time to settle into y/n before everything went dark.
everyone in the vicinity had been sent flying into the air along, but levi was the first one to be up on his feet again. bringing his arms up to shield his eyes, he decided to stay where he was as the dust cleared so he could assess the situation and move on from there.
the scene finally came into view; he gathered that the titan had ripped its arm through the nails that secured it to the floor of the woods, then flailed it around in an attempt to grab people. it made a clean sweep in the area that he was previously standing—all that was left were debris and broken wood planks from the compartments that were attached to the other titan’s traps.
a wave of adrenaline passed through his body as he remembered who was with him. he needed to find not only erwin immediately, but also y/n. he reached down to grab the handles of his controller grip but froze instantly upon seeing what had just come into view as more of the dust cleared.
y/n was sprawled out on the ground, ODM gear tossed a few feet away from her body but more importantly, the titan’s hand was hovering mere meters above her.
his pulse almost quickened twicehold, but it felt as though it heart had stopped in his chest. situations like this presented themselves to levi almost everyday of his life, but this was much different. in those, he was almost two steps ahead. he knew that by now he should be wrapping his arms around y/n and pulling her to safety at breakneck speed, or even better, he should’ve shielded her from harm at the very beginning. but right now he couldn’t do so much as move his finger.
levi was completely inert—his arms felt like they being weighed down by a ball and chain, his legs felt like they had grown roots into the ground that planted in him place. his throat ran dry and his stomach felt like it had just done a flip. the rest of him went numb while shock consumed his body, physically and mentally, rendering him entirely helpless.
images of isabel, farlan, petra, oluo, eld, gunther, and countless others all flashed before him, the same running theme echoed in his mind—he wasn’t able to save them. all he had to do was pull back a single index finger. this would launch one of his anchors into the back of the titan’s neck, sending him flying to slice its nape. but he couldn’t do it. the only thing he knew he had the power to do was watch helplessly as his partner would be eaten alive.
the shouts of others flooded his ears as his senses slowly began to return to him, but it didn’t matter. he couldn’t make out a thing. frankly he wished he could so he could break away from the things that occupied his mind now. shame. guilt. humiliation. fear. regret. he took for granted every moment he had ever spent with y/n. every smile she gave him. every time he embraced her. every kiss. every conversation they shared under the stars while everyone else was fast asleep. every opportunity he had but failed to tell her that he—
before he finished his thought someone finally broke through his trance. erwin was the one who was able to crack the surface and bring him back to life.
the commander was shouting levi’s name, hoping, praying, to wake him up from whatever was going on in his head. levi was still unable feel his body, but he realized he was moving as the ground began to grow smaller. one of erwin’s strong arms hooked around levi’s middle and they were flying away from the chaos below. the commander spared a glance to levi to see the man’s eyes were still trained on y/n.
the feeling returned to levi’s body as he felt the pain of being thrown onto one of the thick tree branches surge through his body. not knowing how else to bring him back from the trance that wasn’t full broken, erwin had tossed off of him levi instead of placing him down gently.
he watched as levi scrambled up and expected him to yell back for throwing him, but the response was much different.
“where is she ??” levi demanded. his eyes may have been on y/n the whole time, but his mind was elsewhere replaying scenes from the past. he had no idea if she had been eaten, or even survived the initial attack. the only think he saw was her body on the ground, unmoving.
“safe,” erwin confirmed. “hanji ran over just in time and got her. but what happened to you ?” no one had ever seen levi freeze up the way he did. others believed it was just fear which made him seem a little more human to them, but erwin knew it was more than that.
throughout the years, erwin watched levi witness the deaths of those closest to him, and even then he was still able to act. but after seeing him go rigid, erwin was more than worried. it was clear levi went into shock, however, shock runs more than skin deep.
this became even more evident to him as levi remained silent the entire way back to the walls. y/n was still unconscious, so one of the open carts was her escort. guilt continued to wash over levi as he wasn’t able to ride in the cart with her to monitor her closely because he had to ride his horse back. regardless, he stayed as close to the cart as possible and stole as many glances her way as he could.
if he had it his way, he would’ve waited outside the infirmary for y/n when they arrived back home, but hanji and erwin practically dragged him to the mess hall to replenish his energy. this may or may not be skipping the part where levi was questioned about what happened, followed by him being chastised for his actions (or lack there of). levi could bare focus even though it was such a serious conversation. his mind was still a hazy mess. as much as hanji and erwin wanted to talk to levi more about the situtation, they knew it was best for the conversation to end there for the day. levi looked so shaken up that he could barely keep himself standing so the last thing he needed was to be yelled at more. the entire corps also made sure to steer clear of the man. he usually had all his emotions hidden but they were on full display now. it still scared the hell out of them.
but the fear alone wasn’t enough to stop them from whispering to themselves. word carried fast about how captain levi froze up and watched one of his squad mates almost die. the ones who only heard about the story instead of witnessing it couldn’t believe what they were hearing. the captain levi did nothing while one of his own almost became titan food ?
hearing the whispers in passing, levi didn’t care that they were talking about him, but he was still affected. their words just made reality sink deeper into him. they weren’t the only ones who were unable to believe what happened. he really just watched helplessly as someone almost died. and it wasn’t just someone, it was his other half.
“hey levi ?” hanji voiced, pulling him out of his head. levi didn’t bother looking up from his food that he had been staring at for the past few minutes to face her. the best he could to was give her a side glance as he peered at her from the corner of his eyes and waited for her to finish.
the glare he was sending her way made her blood run cold, but she took the hint and continued. “are you alright ?” she asked in a small voice.
“does it look like i’m alright ?” he growled back, then went back to eating.
“just wanted to ask,” she added with an awkward laugh then turned to erwin who was on the other side of her. for once in her life she knew not to press any harder, but making levi upset wasn’t her intention. she was genuinely worried about him. hanji gave erwin a what do i do now ? look, hoping for some help, but erwin could only shake his head. he cared about levi just as much as she did, but he knew there was nothing either of them could do or say to make levi feel better. the only thing he needed was to see y/n.
at last, levi finished his dinner and excused himself to go find his partner. as his feet carried him at a quick pace across the stone floors of the many hallways in HQ, fear came back to his already grim mind. there was no word on y/n’s condition so he assumed no progress had been made and she was still unconscious.
needless to say, when he rounded the corner and saw her sitting on the bench right outside the infirmary swiveling her heels and tapping her toes together as if she was bored, shock overcame him once again, this time on a much lower scale. similar to just a few hours ago, he was frozen instantly upon seeing her. it was a much prettier sight this time, but it was still painful to see. the bandage that wrapped around her head peaked out from being any strands of hair that fell in front of her face, other wraps and patches plastered themselves across her arms and legs, and some purple and blue splotches peaked out from behind them. this was only the skin that was exposed. for once in his life levi didn’t want to think about what she looked like when she weren’t wearing any clothes. he made a quick mental note to later place tender kisses on all her bumps and bruises, and took of running towards her.
y/n had been discharged from the infirmary during dinner hours, so the halls has been quite empty as she sat outside alone, falling into boredom. when the first sounds of shoes hitting the ground entered her ears, she got a bit excited, but calmed herself down reminding herself it probably wasn’t him. but when the steps got quicker and louder, she finally let yourself look up to see up to see her partner was the source. there was no point in holding back anyone; her face visibly lit up and a wide smile placed itself on her lips. just like levi, y/n wanted nothing more in the entire world than to see him.
he run turned to a jog then a complete stop as he halted in front of her. despite being so anxious to see one another, neither were really prepared. they just kinda...stared at each other, neither sure of the right words to say. levi decided to take the initiative. he opened his mouth, hoping something, anything, would come out, but his attempt fell flat. words just weren’t enough. instead, he lifted his arms and placed both hands gently on y/n’s shoulders. she caught on quickly, standing up at the same time as he was pulling her into his arms for a tight embrace.
the pair remained silent in each other’s arms until y/n decided to take initiative this time and finally spoke. “is it true ?” she mumbled against his neck, barely loud enough for him to hear.
as much as he had hoped the gossip would stay in the mess hall, levi knew that inevitably word would spread to her. someone must have told her everything that happened, leaving in every little detail about how levi made no moves to save her life, ending up having to be saved by hanji in the end.
based off his silence, y/n knew levi had a lot on his mind so she continued “did you really freeze up?”
he didn’t realize it, but he had tensed up at her words. it absolutely pained him to answer, but he couldn’t imagine the pain she were feeling.
summing up his courage, he began to confirm the worst, but she pulled away before he could get more than a “yes,” out. levi braced himself for the hurt expression that he would be faced with, knowing his heart would break instantly as she realized he truly did failed to protect her, but instead he was met with kind eyes and soft face.
the look on his face had utter disbelief written all over it as her hands went up to cup his face that was now reddening. “are you okay?” y/n asked softly. “im so sorry.”
levi was beyond bewildered. he wanted her to be furious at him. yell at him. pull her soft hands back and strike him as much as she pleased. tell him he failed and that she couldn’t stand the sight of him. he knew he deserved it all and more, but he should’ve known she would never do that. that wasn’t y/n.
he melted into her touch and placing one of his hand over one of hers that remained on his cheek. “i was terrified, y/n.”
y/n finally gave him one of her beautiful smiles and giggled softly. “why were you scared ? i was the one who almost got eaten,” she teased.
y/n’s laughs had quickly subsided after seeing the serious look that had etched itself onto levi’s face. “because you were in danger,” he started.
“i don’t know what id do with myself if i lost you, i...”
“i love you, y/n.”
it was finally y/n’s turn to get a taste of the shock that levi had been experiencing all day. she could’ve sworn her heart skipped a beat at his words, followed by butterfly wings tickling the inside of her tummy, her eyes widening and jaw falling slack. her hands slowly slipped from his face to instead place one of her palms on her chest to make sure her heart was indeed pumping at a regular pace.
levi, on the other hand, was not having a magical experience. y/n’s reaction made him feel as though his feelings weren’t reciprocated despite having been together for so long. he started to get deeper into his head, negative thoughts starting to eat away at him once again, when she finally spoke.
“i love you too, levi,” she breathed out, still too stunned to breathe properly.
levi had had enough of being unable to move for one day. one of his hands grabbed y/n’s waist while the other found its way to the back of her head, as he kissed her roughly, which she eagerly returned. the way he felt her grin against his lips was enough to make all the pain and fear he had experienced that day worth it.
he couldn’t have asked for a better outcome to such a shitty day.
levi had finally learned how to say i love you and he thanked the stars every night following that day that y/n was the one who taught him how.

❥ ┋ ❝ nanami & where he’d take you on your first date together!
@densecloud said: aaaa new ask game!!! can i request for 'court' & nanami? thank you so much toya!! ٩(♡ε♡ )۶
a/n: YES U CAN LESLIE!!! I had so much fun thinking of all the dates Nanamin would take you that I had a hard time narrowing down one... so I wrote for all of them! I think it gives a neat, interactive twist to your original request. I hope you have as much fun reading it as I did writing it. <33
tw: none.
ask game: 💌 15 valentine’s day questions (closed!)
disclaimer: I’m anime-only outside of the prequel, so apologies if my character interpretations aren’t accurate.
Nanami is a planner. he doesn’t like going about things on a whim. that applies for work, his days off, and most notably, his first date with you.
that isn’t to say he wouldn’t let you plan the date. no, Nanami just gets a certain pride taking you out. after all, he wouldn’t be courting you unless he had some sort of background with you. in this case, being jujutsu sorcerers has made you uncomfortably close. that just comes with working in a profession with so few colleagues. and with it being a horribly draining job, you’ve seen each other at your best and worse.
hence, Nanami lets you pick what kind of vibe you’d like for the date. he’d like to think he knows you well enough to plan something himself. but letting you have some agency allows him to gauge what to do. plus, the fact you’re not a Tokyo native lets him narrow down where in the city would be the best place to take you.
if you tell him you want something laidback, Nanami interprets that as a typical, casual date. nothing too strenuous. that doesn’t mean they have to be boring, though. he takes you to a hole-in-the-wall coffee shop in Musashino. it’s tucked away in some alley, and despite its sketchy location, the interior is surprisingly cozy. locals chat quietly while university students scribble notes in tattered workbooks. it isn’t much, you’ll admit. it’s not much different from any other coffee shop. but the moment your mocha hits your tongue, you immediately understand why Nanami likes this place so much. it’s sweet without being overly sweet, chocolately and warm. like a hug from your best friend: familiar and comforting. Nanami tells you how he met Gojo while you’re here. it’s casual conversation. you learn that despite their contrasting personalities, there are few people that Nanami trusts more. maybe one day he’ll trust you as much as he does your shared colleague. it’s a thought that makes your heart as warm as your mocha does for your hands. (and while you may not know it now, Nanami already trusts you with everything.) you find yourselves at Inokashira Park shortly afterwards. it’s a surprisingly warm day in March -- why not enjoy the weather while you can? he comments on the history about the park. something about how it was privately owned by the emperor until the twentieth century. when you ask when the cherry blossoms will bloom, he tells you not until the end of March. you click your tongue. “hm. guess we’ll have to plan another date for then, huh?” “...I suppose we do.” he wouldn’t admit how warm his ears felt in that moment.
if you tell him you want something fun, Nanami will take you to the Edo-Tokyo Museum. he honestly doesn’t know how you’ve lived in the city for this long without visiting it yet. there’s something exciting about it, though; to be the person you share this experience with. he’s thankful for that much. to say the museum is huge would be an understatement. the building is massive. there are tons of exhibits to explore and even more sections to learn from. it’s... well... it’s a little overwhelming. yet Nanami is patient with exploring the whole thing. he doesn’t yank you from display to display. he lets you take it at your own pace, following you wherever you want to go, adding his own quips of information he’d learned from the several field trips he’s taken here as a child. after all, the museum is a staple. it’s one of his favorite places in the city. that’s half of the reason why he brought you here. the other half is because he loves that look of bewilderment you get on your face. the museum features an interactive exhibit of Old Tokyo, with employees strolling the streets in traditional garb. they chat with visitors and offer small gifts, and boy. your face just lights up every time they give you some dumb knick knack. when you smile at him, showing him the pencil you got labeled EDO-TOKYO MUSEUM in red lettering, he can’t help but feel the corners of his mouth twitch just the slightest bit upwards, too. such a small thing to be excited about. that’s why he’s so enamored by you, though. he feels a sense of pride when you ask if he can bring you back to the museum sometime soon. he just guides you by the small of your back as you exit the front doors, his lips with another hint of a smile, before saying, “there are plenty of other places we can visit together. let’s plan for it.”
if you tell him you want something different, Nanami finds himself stumped. there are lots of “different” places in Tokyo. Asakusa has the traditional temples, Harajuku has the wild street fashion, and Roppongi has the wilder night life. “something different” doesn’t give Nanami a lot to go off of. but he’ll digress. none of those places would be appropriate for a first date. so he opts for a great hot pot restaurant in Shibuya. Shibuya itself is a great date location. it’s what most foreigners think when they hear “Tokyo.” bright lights, edgy streetwear, huge crowds of people -- all mushed together in one district. it makes your head spin as he guides you through the streets. but where he takes you takes the best parts of Shibuya and puts it in one, little eatery. string lights dangle across the ceiling, twinkling as if it it was the night sky. it’s such a nice contrast from the neon lights outside. teenagers in streetwear morph into dapper, young professionals laughing amongst themselves. and while it’s still a little cramped, it’s not the kind that makes you overwhelmed. it’s cozy. people maintain their space. the hot pot itself is delicious. Nanami orders a little of everything -- some seafood, some fancy meats, a variety of vegetables, and two noodle options -- and God. the moment you take your food from that broth and put it in your damn mouth? ugh. heaven. it’s so savory, perfectly seasoned and just the right texture. the saltiness from the broth brings all the right flavors out of your food. you might have burned your tongue but it’s so good you don’t even care. Nanami laughs when he sees your eyes widen. he carries the conversation while you stuff yourself with noodles and other foods. just some stories about his life before sorcery, about his time as a stockbroker and how much he hated it. although sorcerery isn’t much better, he can at least help the people around him. it’s not much, but it’s better than helping some rich asshole get richer. “you know,” you tell him in between bites, “you’re a better person than you give yourself credit for.” “maybe,” he responds. “or maybe it’s just basic human decency.” he didn’t mean it to come out that harsh. and judging by your expression, you don’t take offense to it. or maybe you just didn’t notice. either way, he hopes you also don’t notice how quickly he turns away. there are much less obvious ways to hide his blush, he can acknowledge that. yet in this moment, all he can think of is all the goddamn hoops you put his mind through.

Dear John (not his real name),
How do I begin... In a way, you were my first deep crush. Well, we did first meet in secondary school, at a young age of 13. We started off as seatmates, awkwardly getting to know one another in a whole new environment. Don’t you remember, we got on like a house on fire! Competing with each other in common tests, we made bets on who was the highest in Math (mind you we got the same score and swapped a dollar). Jesting and spurring each other on, we were each other’s cheerleaders.
I knew I was attracted when you borrowed my textbook since you didn’t bring yours, and ended up highlighting the important points for me even though that book was mine. You could have borrowed it from your buddy behind you and yet you pulled my seat to your desk as we shared a book. That crush was a new feeling to me. Unexpected butterflies fluttering in me when you decided to swap worksheets to compare answers, giggles bursting between our sealed lips as we created inside jokes about our English teacher, and even warmed cheeks as you continuously pulled my seat closer to yours when we were going through papers.
Why did I like you? Hmmm, your competitive nature, your soft moments, your laugh, your wit and how our birth dates matched our index numbers. 13 and 24 right?
We were quite close, don’t you think? Chatting on Facebook Messenger every single day and night, comparing answers, and even just sharing about our daily lives during the weekend. That one special memory (literally 10 years ago) is still etched in my heart when you were having high fever during Chinese New Year and I was at the beach, looking at the sunset. We were in the midst of talking about how you were still expecting visitors even though you were feverish and I texted you that I may need to stop texting you as my phone battery was running flat. You immediately texted ‘don’t leave me’. I stayed online to keep you company the whole evening.
I remembered being annoyingly persistent in asking who your crush was. I mean we were literally ‘early teens’, crushes were a huge thing in secondary school. You either dodged or threw the question back to me. There were multiple occasions where our mutual friends joined in on the fun just to rile you up. The one thing I regretted was being blind or oblivious to the little signs you did show.
I literally looked through our past conversations just to read our mindless chats about school, crushes, friends butting in and I came across this one particular text where you just sent ‘U’. It was after a few texts of talking about algebra and the earlier conversation before that was me asking who was your crush one last time. Not sure whether I’m reading too much into it.
Then that fateful day came. Your supposed life saviour, my bully, humiliated me for having a crush on you. He relished in the fact that he was the one who was given the honours to say that you… didn’t like me back. You didn’t have the balls to even meet my pleading eyes when I was humiliated in front of the whole class.
And after that day, you treated me like scum. Like I was unworthy of even being your friend. With that memory, you gave me my first heartbreak. To think that I was so stupid to even apologise for whatever that happen just to get you to talk to me again. The best thing yet, I still harboured feelings for you till we graduated in 2014.
To tell you the truth, I still do search your social media pages just to see how you were doing. To reminisce about the good times and what could have been if things were different. With this, I bid goodbye to my first crush, first love and first heartbreak.
Once yours,
Mochi
