Ashryn Viviana "Rook" De Riva

1: She says Treviso truly she doesn't know where she's from originally Viago found her on a contract in Orlais in a secret Labatory ran by a venatori high mage and of course she has no memories of her life before cause ✨trauma✨ and there were no records of her either burnt by the venatori that experiment on her, Manius Servanus

2: Chaotic neutral, she will do anything to if she believes its right and hate stubborn people who won't listen to reason probably why she punch the first warden

4: if she didn't get kicked out of the crows, probably Olais working a contract.

5: Sarcasm and humor, that her go to emotion 😂

6: Taash and Davrin. She understands Taash not being able to fit in with being a qunari being raised in Rivain while her mother taught her under the Qun. Ashryn doesn't know if she was Dalish or a city elf or anything, she has no idea where she belongs between the two always feeling like a puzzle piece that got left behind and so Ashryn completley understand what Taash was going through, but they also bond over dragons, Ashryn used all kinds of books about dragons never thinking she would ever meet or fight one. And then with Davrin, he rejected his path of life finding his true calling as a warden Ashryn was in awe with his courage some people just stick to chosen path and never change but he did, and it helped that he had some crazy stories about the monster he hunted.

7: Lucanis, this truly took her one by surprised Ashryn never really had romance in her cards, she was a crow she expected she was going to die before anything like that could happen. Ash had more than heard of Lucanis Dellamorte, she may have had tini tiny crush on him if we even call it that she never met him or even seen him before since she was under a different talon than him but since she had a personal hatred for the Venatori and heard of his exploits of kill all those mages she became a little enamored Teia obvious found out and teased her for days about it but life went on and then she got kicked out of the crows after the incident with the Antaam and completely forgot about "the demon of vyrantium" until Neve brought up recruiting him and its been almost a year since she even thought of about Lucanis Dellamorte and then she gets to Ossuary and meets him the first time and she cured in elvish cause fuck he's hot and then when she startes getting to know him, the fact he gets everyone a gift, his obsession with coffee and the fact he loves wyvern, he became just so adorable and just a person in her eyes

8: Solas, she never trusted him in the beginning, but she started to understand him little by little that as a leader he made a lot of choices that he had to and then the bastard broke that small bit of understanding trust that she had with him when throwing her in the fade prison

9: it was strenuous but after saving it from the blighted dragon, she's in the good books with Crows now.

10: None actually but she does sing, and from she has been told beautifully to and dancing.

11: Twin Blades or her bow.

12: Pansexual

13: She's a literal crow if there's a contract, she does it though she does prefer contracts for the bastards on the world. So she really has no problem with killing.

14: Reading, and drawing she likes drawing her friends at the lighthouse or sights she seen

15: Ashur- She really respects him and his caused and felt guilty for having to choose Treviso, but it was her home, she couldn't abandon it, Evka and Antonine- Those two are just funny and reliable. Vorgoth- She has no idea what he is, but he fascinated her to no end.

16: Dragons for sure, though she loves all animals just not bugs, she hates them with a passion.

17: Yes, she enjoys the sights and the people but after all that has transpired, she thinks she has had enough adventure to last a lifetime and wouldn't mind just going back to being a normal crow though she would miss her friends.

18: Since she would be kicked out the crows, I see her going to Minrathous to meet Neve about tracking down Manius Servanus and to finally figure out her past and where she came from and what the hell did, he does to her.

19: In a fantasy life at old age happy with her friends and family by her side but possibly on a contract it's the life a crow after all

20: She fights him of course this world may not be perfect but still it's her world where so many good and bad things that happen to her shape her into the person she is today, and she wouldn't change it for anything.

29: Shadow Dragon, because she hates slavery and the Venatori just as much as them if not more and maybe should've met Dorian early and found out about the truth of her past earlier on

30: I just can't help but love Ashryn, she is unapologetically flawed, but just lovable as well, she's always caring about others and always forgetting about herself. She's sarcastic and funny but really kind as well, and even though she doesn't think she should have become the leader of this group she steps up and did her best and I think deep down she knows Varric is proud of her

Madhubala and Dilip Kumar (Mughal-e-Azam, Tarana, Sangdil, Mahal, Devdas)—Madhubala and Dilip Kumar had an IRL relationship for 8 years. Their irl love and chemistry made them one of the most beloved couples of 1950s cinema. Dilip was ready to marry her during the filming of Dhake ki Malmal in 1956 with the condition that she never saw her father again (he didn't approve of the relationship). She refused and they broke up soon after in 1957. The film Naya Daur starring Dilip Kumar and Vyjayanthimala was originally supposed to have Madhubala in it, her father refused to let her star in it despite her already having the contract, leading to a drawn out court case where Dilip testified against Madhubala. This spelled the end of their relationship and both of them married other people. Madhubala died in 1969 at only 36 years old. Despite their frosty breakup Dilip Kumar visited her one last time at her deathbed. Forever one of the most iconic couples of Indian cinema with a love story that still attracts a lot of speculation and is full of the romance and tragedy their films were known for.

William Powell and Myrna Loy from The Thin Man series. Glamorous and witty, with the banter of a will they or won't they couple combined with the mischievous affection of the happily married. And they're detectives!

They're ridiculously in love with each other, genuinely enjoy spending time together, respect each other, and just look at them:

Nick & Nora Charles, my pre-Code LOVES. Wikipedia describes them in one line as a couple who enjoy “copious drinking and flirtatious banter,” and they’re right for that.

Myrna Loy and William Powell, their delight in each other on screen makes me deliriously happy every time I watch them. I’ll even watch the later Thin Man movies, even if they aren’t great, just for those two flirting and smirking knowingly at each other. Watching them as Nick and Nora, you just know those characters really enjoy being with each other more than anyone else.

They had sizzling chemistry, and their real life friendship meant that they actually enjoyed being around each other, and it showed on screen.

I know I'm probably not the only one suggesting them, but I HAVE to nominate my favorite on-screen duo: Myrna Loy and William Powell. The chemistry between them has rarely been equaled; they're like the fun, cool couple that's clearly in love without ever being obnoxious about it. I love all of their movies so much, but my favorites are the Thin Man Series, Libeled Lady, Love Crazy, and I Love You Again. Obviously, I'm not alone, seeing as they had 13 movies together. Also, them+Asta? True double income, no kids goals.

(I know other people will be saying this but One Must Be Sure). MYRNA LOY and WILLIAM POWELL. From The Thin Man (1934), After the Thin Man (1936), and all the other Thin Man movies etc. They're just so into each other in such an equitable way, they push each others buttons and tease each other while drinking like fishes and solving mysteries and it's REALLY HOT. They both always had a twinkle in their eyes and adorably wrinkled their noses at each other.

Well, seeing as we are nearing the end of book 7 (Please?), I've been reflecting over the dreams and my thoughts about them, and it can basically be summed up as, "This could've been an email." Like don't get me wrong, I'm freaking out about Malleus but at the same time I'm so ready for book 7 to be over and to move on with the story. Even saying my criticisms (chaotic dream pacing cough cough Lilia, explanations that are too vague, etc.) Feels like beating a dead horse at this point. I wish they had added some sense of urgency to the story to hurry it along too. Maybe add a time limit to how long they can spend in a dream, or maybe they could include a deadline of a week before things go to shit, idk.

I'm remaining optimistic as always because I love twst so much and always will, but man. If we have another 100 parts of untrimmed fat to go through I may pass away from old age.

I think there's nobility in trying to keep optimistic about a hobby/interest, but I also think that there shouldn't be anything wrong with critiquing what you enjoy. It comes from a place of love and wanting that hobby/interest to be better because you care about it so much! So really, I encourage everyone to critique as they wish.

Averaging that out, that means a character's dream to waking segment takes ~12 parts (rounded down from 12.4) 💀 but of course we have outliers like Sebek and Epel, who only have only 4 parts and Riddle (that glory hog/j) taking up an ABSURD 35 parts, which is almost triple the average.

I think the dreams were definitely novelties around the time they initially come out. We get fanservice and the high of speculating what the dreams could mean for each dreamer. But then as more time passes and that excitement wears off, we start to scrutinize these segments a lot more. We start to realize how the pacing is extremely uneven, how they keep overcomplicating or reexplaining how the dreams operate, and/or how Malleus has not been present since 7-112. Lilia hasn’t been present since even further back, in 7-100. The devs should have cut back to Malleus and Lilia’s brawl to catch up with them between dream hopping from one dorm to the next. The repeating patterns (like how each boy uses their UM once, how the boys from the previous dorm stay behind to let the OB boy jump into the next dorm's dreams, etc.) quickly become repetitive and predictable. We become annoyed with how none of the characters seem to be acting with urgency; they often stand around talking about funny experiences or their families or whatever when they should be investigating seriously because they don't know how much time they have left before Malleus's magic shrouds all of Twisted Wonderland. They really should have added a cap to how long they can spend in each dream or how long they have until it's Too Late for the world. It feels like there are no stakes when the characters are wasting time watching Rook's Vil and Neige fancams or eating a bunch of cakes in Cater's courtroom. The devs only started to change up these formulas WAY too late (around like Savanaclaw???), like having the freshly woken dreamer attack us (Jack), having a very depressing dream (Leona), Malleus becoming relevant again (Riddle), NPCs helping us instead of harming us (Leona and Riddle), etc.

At this point, I'm SO tired and I just want book 7 to be done and over with (good luck to EN only players experiencing this for the first time) OTL Here's to hoping we don't have to sit through another useless 100 parts of Nothing... The end of the book 7 chapter 12 part 3 (yeesh, that's a mouthful) update gives me some hope at least; it looks like there's going to be actual danger moving forward!

luther: brings a clipboard to therapy sessions to "take notes" but mostly ends up doodling stick figures of the family, complete with little speech bubbles like "diego is being mean again" or "klaus smells weird." always wears a sweater, even in the middle of summer, because he thinks it makes him look more approachable and "leaderly." instead he gets incredibly sweaty and stinks up the entire room through no fault of his own. tries to mediate arguments but ends up making them worse by accidentally taking sides or quoting something reginald once said. once cried over a motivational cat poster in the waiting room that said, "hang in there!" and now carries a miniature version of it in his wallet for inspiration. spends half the session apologizing for things no one remembers or cares about.

diego: sits slouched in his chair with his arms crossed, glaring at the therapist like they personally insulted his knife-throwing skills. claims he doesn’t need therapy but shows up every week anyway, muttering something about "keeping an eye on klaus." gets into heated debates with the therapist over ridiculous hypotheticals like "how many ninjas could you fight at once" or "is batman technically a vigilante or just misunderstood?" has been banned from three different therapy offices for flipping furniture during arguments, including one time when he threw a chair because someone suggested he might have unresolved daddy issues. once tried to leave mid-session but tripped over the coffee table and pretended it was part of his escape plan.

klaus: shows up 20 minutes late every session wearing sunglasses, a fur coat, and carrying an empty coffee cup he insists is full of "spiritual energy." overshares wildly inappropriate stories that make everyone uncomfortable, like the time he accidentally summoned a ghost during karaoke night at a dive bar. somehow manages to charm the therapist into letting him stay despite breaking every rule imaginable. frequently lies down on the couch and pretends it’s his turn to be analyzed, even when it’s not, and once fell asleep mid-session while everyone else was arguing. keeps trying to convince ben to possess him so they can do a "fun bit" for the group, but ben refuses out of sheer embarrassment.

allison: arrives perfectly on time every week with color-coded binders filled with self-help worksheets she made for everyone. no one ever uses them, but she keeps bringing them anyway because she believes in "the power of structure." speaks in calm, measured tones during sessions but secretly live-tweets the chaos under a pseudonym that has amassed thousands of followers. once convinced klaus to do a dramatic reading of her old tumblr poetry during group therapy just to lighten the mood (it didn’t). occasionally uses her rumor power to end arguments before they escalate but denies it if anyone calls her out.

ben (ghost): sits in the corner with his arms crossed, silently judging everyone because no one can hear him except klaus. tries to offer helpful advice through klaus, but it always comes out garbled or sarcastic because klaus can’t resist editorializing. once knocked over a water bottle during an especially heated argument just to remind everyone he’s still there and then felt bad about it for days when the therapist got scared. spends most of the session wishing he could haunt reginald instead but sticks around because he doesn’t trust klaus not to say something stupid on his behalf. occasionally makes snarky comments that only klaus can hear, which leads to klaus laughing uncontrollably at inappropriate moments.

five: refuses to sit down because he considers therapy "a waste of time" and insists that his 45 years of life experience make him more qualified than the therapist. spends most of the session pacing like a caged animal and muttering about quantum mechanics or assassins he’s killed. keeps trying to outsmart the therapist by turning every question into a philosophical debate or logic puzzle, much to everyone’s annoyance. is basically the human form of "erm, ackshually," correcting even the smallest inaccuracies with smug precision ("no, actually, i didn’t run away from home; i teleported through space-time"). once corrected the therapist’s grammar mid-session and then stormed out when they didn’t thank him. frequently interrupts others to point out why their trauma is "objectively less significant than surviving the heat death of the universe." once tried to psychoanalyze diego as payback for calling him short and ended up starting a screaming match that ended with both of them being escorted out.

viktor: sits quietly in his chair with perfect posture, doodling in a notebook while everyone else yells over each other. only speaks when directly addressed and then drops surprisingly insightful comments that leave everyone stunned into silence for at least 30 seconds. once brought his violin to therapy and played an impromptu concert when things got too tense, which made allison cry and diego accuse him of being manipulative (he wasn’t) and luther fall asleep. occasionally zones out during sessions while planning elaborate revenge fantasies against reginald that involve poison tea and dramatic monologues.

lila: shows up uninvited every week and acts like she’s part of the family now because "why not?" spends most of the session antagonizing diego for fun—stealing his chair, mimicking everything he says—but will defend him fiercely if anyone else tries it. once stole all the pens from the therapist's desk just to see if they’d notice (they did). eats snacks loudly during sessions and offers none to anyone else unless they beg. tried to set fire to one of luther’s binders during an argument just because she was bored but got distracted halfway through by klaus showing her how to make shadow puppets on the wall. keeps threatening to throw diego’s knives out the window if he doesn’t stop glaring at her.

The People on the Periphery

Just like everything else, When It Rains, It Pours has been very intentional about its use of characters. Every person that has been mentioned or shown has served some type of narrative purpose.

The coworker? She was a trigger for the conversation about dividing people into categories AND foreshadowed what was to come.

The other coworkers? They clued us in on Hagiwara's competency in work and his genial nature. They also served to contrast how Hagiwara LOOKS at Sei versus the other people around him.

The party people? They showed us more information about Hagiwara's relationship with Kaori and how Hagiwara has been repressing his inner thoughts. It also shows that Kaori has been controlling Hagiwara's narrative just like Fujisawa controls Sei's.

Hiraiwa? He contrasted Hagiwara with how he handled the LINE exchange. But he ALSO cemented that Sei had once been more social and gave blatant cues about Fujisawa's controlling nature.

Ayako was a mirror for Hagiwara's relationship and she spilt the tea.

The point is...every person has served a narrative purpose. Most of the time, they've served more than one.

This brings us to our people on the periphery: Fujisawa's editor and Kaori's parents.

What's THEIR purpose in this story? There's a few options.

Option #1: They serve no purpose.

There's always the possibility that they serve no purpose and are mere conversational fodder. I would be disappointed if this is the case as nothing in this show has been without purpose, and I'd make up a purpose for them just to please myself.

Option #2: Fujisawa/Kaori are also having a physical affair.

After all, lying to meet your lover has been established.

However, as much as I would LOVE for Fujisawa's secret to be the editor, I just don't think it is the case. After all, Fujisawa and Kaori BOTH have a very strong emotional response to finding out about the affair. Their behavior doesn't align. This option would also cheapen some narrative aspects if the partners had been cheating all along.

Option #3: The parents/editor demonstrate Fujisawa/Kaori seeking and having emotional comfort outside of their relationship.

It's possible that the editor/parents are meant to serve as a contrast between Fujisawa/Kaori and Hagiwara/Sei.

Fujisawa's having interesting conversations with his editor. Even though he would never want Sei to talk to a coworker.

Kaori's going to her parents when she's bored. Even though she doesn't like it if Hagiwara stays out late himself.

Fujisawa/Kaori had already went outside of the relationship to find connection and comfort, and they have the personal freedom to do so. But Hagiwara and Sei? They didn't have these people in their life. They were LONELY.

The editor and parents don't have to be shown on screen to serve this purpose. It's consistent with the show's writing. The customer with the broken nail stayed off screen but gave us the segue into all of the broken nail analogies.

However, I keep wondering if there will be more to it. After all, Ayako was mentioned several times in casual conversation before her full narrative purpose was revealed.

Option #4: They become important during Fujisawa/Kaori's spiral.

Technically, this idea builds on the previous interpretation. IF these people are Kaori/Fujisawa's emotional support, then it makes sense that they would play a role in mediating the spiral. Either getting Fujisawa/Kaori to calm down, realize the deeper problems in the relationship, or let go of Hagiwara/Sei. That said, I don't see this happening on screen. If Sei/Hagiwara are not in the scene for some reason, they aren't getting screentime. I also feel like this option isn't in line with the narrative choices thus far either. The narrative has focused on the actions and choices of our leads. It's focused on them wrestling with their decisions and inner turmoil. And I don't see the show taking a sudden detour from that. I don't really want it to.

Option #5: ??? I have no idea.

I have been wracking my brain for a stronger narrative purpose for these people if it's NOT a physical affair/cover up, but I just don't know. I give up.

So for now, Option #3 paralleling Fujisawa/Kaori and Hagiwara/Sei is where I'll settle. It demonstrates Hagiwara/Sei's loneliness, Fujisawa/Kaori's personal freedom, and emphasizes yet again that NONE of them are really getting what they need out of these relationships.

Anybody have thoughts? I'd love to hear them.

The editor is a control tactic. Pretty sure about that one now. Sei mentions the party, and Fujisawa IMMEDIATELY brings up the editor as a way to try to keep Sei from going to the party. Still not confident about the parents.

This makes a lot of sense to me. I think the layers are also starting to bleed together, which may coincide with the idea that they are running out of time because I don't think it's a good thing. For example, we literally see the meshing together of the UD and the rightside up at the end of S4. And S4 very likely is ending with a vision of some sort of Will's, where he is seeing this future. He's seems to be in the Vecna trace (like S2) and this doesn't seem to be impacting the characters with him, which is why I'm interpreting it as a vision (He's seen into the future as Will the Wise). It's meant to be a warning of some sort that if they don't fix things soon, there will be chaos in Hawkins. We saw a bit of this actually happening with the earthquake that separated Hawkins into 4 parts but the part at the very end where the group is standing in that field looking out into the town with the red clouds and lightning - I don't think this has happened YET. But it could. The deepest layers to the story I think coincide with Will's trauma. What happened to him in his past and what he's pushing down. Kali resides here as the keeper of his powers so to speak. She's holding his anger and abuse, as well as El. I think it may be that the layers aren't meant to mesh. El and other alters aren't meant to reside outside of his subconscious and her existence outside of it is part of what is causing chaos. Hence other alters self sacrificing when Will starts to heal. When Will heals, the external world also heals. It's Will's world. I think another character who is blending a bit here is Susie. She exists in Will's mind but it's the hive mind that Dustin is apart of so he has memories of her created by Will. I'm not convinced the scene in S4 where the Cali gang meets her actually happens. There is a lot in this moment that is foreshadowing and feels like another potential vision for Will the Wise. But we are starting to see these worlds/layers mesh and more and more chaotic things happen when they do. Vecna killing townies was arguably the most violent thing that happened. The violence is starting to expand past Will and impact the town now.

I do think it's likely that Mike and Will are the co-creators of this world - Mike consciously and Will subconsciously. I do think the supernatural element of the show is real though. Like they had powers as kids and suppressed them (aka they suppressed their sexualities) but Mike was becoming more accepting of this in between S3 and S4 (although this may be a bit of a misdirect as I suspect Mike has been way more conscious of his feelings for far longer and the Mike/El stuff was a thing influenced by Will or not a thing that happened in the correct reality.) I love the idea of Mike trying to pull Will out of his trauma by writing him letters or writing him a D&D campaign type thing. Mike figuring everything out first makes a lot of sense since he has been correct about everything since S1. He is always the first to put everything together and start strategizing and pulls people back when they are off track. For example, Lucas in S3 wanted to just go kill the MF and fuck shit up and Mike said that was dumb and they needed a plan. Nancy and gang do this exact thing with Vecna in S4 and it goes very badly but Mike isn't there to be the voice of reason aka the narrator. So it seems like he controls this story. In addition to this, the bad things in S4 happen when Mike isn't around and this is where the riddle of blue meets yellow comes in again. Time running out could be because Will is getting worse. He retreating further into his head and pushing everyone away and Mike has been trying to reach him. We see hints of this with Mike calling him in Cali and Will being closed off and pushing him back to El. I do think that redacted letter is very likely from Mike to Will. It makes the most sense. And time is associated with Mike the most though it is associated with other characters as well - Joyce is always late and can't find her keys (key's being associated with Mike too). Hopper spends the first 3 seasons being chronically late to work either because he's hung over or dealing with things with El or Will. Jonathan and Nancy are late to work in S3. It tends to just be this group - the Byers, Wheelers, and Hopper who are late. And Hopper's Russia storyline also seems heavily influenced by Mike and he was going to be late meeting Joyce. Maybe because as things progress and get worse for Will, Mike is trying to hint to the other characters to hurry and help him? I think this may be where we see different timelines come in. Alternate realities that are maybe created by Mike as he tries to save Will. So maybe that is where that letter comes in. But ultimately at the end he's able to save him and it sets everything back to the Rightside Up/the correct place in time.

I think the D&D references aren't necessarily a literal D&D story. Mike is just trying to use these components to reach Will with something familiar. I do think the writers were telling the truth when they said it wasn't a story (I think they said it would feel too much like "it was all a dream and then they woke up" and nixed that theory). Plus they have several spin-offs planned so I don't know how that would work if it's a not real. I do think it's likely that the supernatural element is real but maybe not in the way we are used to. On the surface of the story there is the lab experimenting on people and giving them powers and they are the bad guys but this feels like a superficial version of the story. So it does make sense to me to put this in the "deeper layer" because I think there is a lot more to it than that that is in Will's subconscious and we just don't know it yet.

Stranger Things is absolutely a nested framed story.

There's a lot about discussion of hdwr that baffles me (not all discussion to be clear, because i do think there's a lot of good discussion about hdwr. But equally so are there the ones that make you wonder if you're reading the same story) and I think one that is especially annoying is the constant infantilization of miwa as this passive eternal victim. It drives me up a wall because this is quite literally an issue she's struggled with within the text of the story! She had an arc about how she dislikes how people treat her this way like towards the beginning of the story! And like even ignoring that, this story is about like nuanced and realistic portrayals of being in relationships and learning how to navigate them and so it's like what's the point if you're going to immediately reduce the characters to "the victim" and "the victimizers?" Is that even interesting? Is that a useful lens to look at interpersonal relationships?

oh boy, where do i begin? For this to be the most non-Puzzles related episode, the IGBP imagery keeps coming back. You all remember the Mario PC Virus episode, that was a whole can of worms with the Team's use of eye imagery

and yes, i'm still onto them for that.

This one's different since 4 wasn't even involved. With Karen and Swag, that is where I'm conflicted about:

Karen: being the corporations' ex-assassin going after Marty and controlled-victim from Puzzle Park, both link to Mr Puzzles

Swag: always having to come save the day with episodes related to IGBP

But directly to Mr Puzzles like 4 does, not really. BUT the connection they do have (at the moment) is that we have recently been getting episodes about (found) family, overpowering past trauma/events, and self-worth. Even if you consider a bit from last year. What's interesting is that it's the side characters and other members of the Crew going through this. Not 4, and I think that's saved as one of the last few that need to go through the same development. 4 is not fully over for what happened in IGBP, and he's hiding it well.

The Team is very intentional with their prop choices, no doubt about it. (they literally had "SMG4" designed on the door frame of the Castle.) I couldn't find the staff as an asset in GMod as of right now, so if anyone's willing to help, many thanks. Either way, this is the one they chose and considering all this is all framed, yeah...

right here in the theory itself, the black goo and the red monster are two separate entities and it is believed that they're parasites to their hosts, 4 and Puzzles respectively. And they would be able to control it through emotions. Hence goop!4. And it has been kinda confirmed in WOTFI 2025 with Puzzles being able to summon the monster at the very least.

As to why Puzzles would even need it, I think the monster is his life support from his transition to a more robotic body. he did cut his head after all in a serious tone and that makes a difference in the chaotic show that is SMG4.

Take the demonic keyboard as a smaller example of what Mr Puzzles may be. A mix of organic and technological matter that together make a powerful device, being able to manipulate/control 4's code. But ofc the keyboard and knowledge has to come from somewhere. My personal headcanon is that the government was the one who created the device before Puzzles took it, but it could also be after since that monster was practically indestructible in IGBP against the military explosives. Hey, it wouldn't be unusual for a government to use a living being to be a weapon, it's a story trope.

besides, who said that the keyboard or even the flash drive with the perfect video is truly gone? :)

So yes, I really do think the Team is building it up using side characters, more linked to Mr Puzzles/IGBP, until the BIG event of it all leads to 4. Maybe it will happen, maybe not. Who knows?

Now don't throw tomatoes at me but I'm actually really excited to finally see malleus again— I've always loved malleus since we met him in the story, but I'm also sooo curious about what's gonna happen next,, I'm wondering the obvious thing, about whether or not we might get a parralel scenario like what happened with the KoD and silver will have to "slay" malleus or at least be the one to land a killing blow, but I also saw a really interesting post focusing on how magic is a manifestation of dreams and deep desires and imagination,,,, in that case, I may (VERY delusionally) hope that Yuu finally gets to be a major part of the story for once??? Even reading the novels, there HAS to be something bigger for yuu— while the idea of crowley simply being an incompetent airhead is fun and more comfortable, haven't you thought that meybe he pulled them into this world deliberately??

All to say, what if at some point, Yuu somehow manifests magic in a very dire moment ?? You know lol?? Agh idk. I just want yuu to finally make impactful choices but that IS too much to ask, as far as we can see for now,,, (but hey, that part leading up to ace getting is UM, and the convo between him and yuu,,, it *does* give one a sliver of hope, doesn't it? :') )

He’s missed out on so much of his own book OTL In the time he’s been gone, the fandom has been left to speculate about both his and Lilia’s potential death flags. I really doubt Twst will have the balls to kill off one of them, but it would be cool to at least see Silver delivering the final blow to knock some sense into (not necessarily kill) OB Malleus.

Yes, it’s true that Silver states in the recent update that magic was originally considered “a miracle borne of strong desires from the heart.” But 💦 I don’t think that means Yuu would randomly manifest magic in the final fight?? It feels more like a “let’s save the day with the power of friendship” to me, but I could of course be wrong.

I understand being frustrated that Yuu’s participation in the main story seems to fluctuate a lot, with most of their activity being books 3, 4, and segments of 1, 6, and 7. That’s not much, especially considering how long books 6 and 7 are. Sometimes (even in events) it feels like Yuu is barely there, as most dialogue options don’t involve different reactions from the characters. Even Yuu's quest to find a way home is barely addressed or taken seriously until early in book 7. Yuu hasn't gotten "real" development unless you count them realizing their Disney dreams are prophetic in book 5, taking the initiative to save Grim in book 6, and that dialogue option about them being worried they're not contributing + the related convo with Ace in book 7. All very short moments in the grand scheme of things. And honestly, I think that makes sense for the kind of character Yuu is. A blank slate, a self-insert, an outsider that's easy to exposit information to, someone with which to view the story, characters, and world through. Yuu is primarily there to be the POV character, the lenses, the camera that we see Twst through. They're not really meant to be a traditional "main character". It's possible that Twst gives them a slightly bigger role at the very end (especially with what went down in the dream in book 7), but I doubt it will be a huge triumphant moment where they and they alone save the day or deal the final blow in a crazy act of self-sacrifice. Twst has always been a story that puts the NRC boys first, while Yuu is the observer.

I've noticed that the complaint of Yuu not doing a lot in the story comes mainly from English speaking fans?? And I guess that makes sense, given how western culture tends to emphasize independence and standing out. They want Yuu to reflect that. They want to be the ones to make a difference. I don't even remember ever seeing these same comments from the Japanese speaking fans; it's definitely a less common sentiment for them. The Japanese fans seem pretty content with Yuu being an observer and taking on more of a minor or supporting role. Again, this fits in with what I understand of many eastern cultures. They're demurer, not wanting to stand out too much from the crowd and instead prioritizing group harmony. Very interesting cultural difference to note!

It's a common theory (with many variants) that Crowley intentionally summoned Yuu to Twisted Wonderland for his own nefarious motives. People found him pretty sus right away due to how he seems to not put in any real time or effort into investigating a way to send Yuu home. Plus, there's that ominous opening monologue of his to consider. However, I don't think he summoned Yuu because of their (potential) great magical capabilities. The Mirror of Darkness tells us that it doesn't sense a shred of magic in Yuu, and Leona smells zero magic on them (though that could be because it hasn't technically manifested yet, as some fans claim).

The idea is that Yuu is supposed to be plain. They are supposed to be magicless. Why? To humble the NRC students and to show them that asserting yourself violently or with great magical power ISN'T the way to go. To show them value in strategizing (which Yuu does in the prologue by helping Grim aim at the ghosts), of camaraderie. What does it say about the story's themes if Yuu, the person who is supposed to be showing them the worth of mundane things, is suddenly... "secretly ultra-strong, actually/“just like you guys” (even if it's only a temporary hope-fueled magic)? It might contradict what has already been set up. It also breaks the self-insert appeal of Yuu, since developing magic would also mean Yuu would later have to further develop things like proficiency in magic, best/worst subjects, and an unique magic/signature spell... meaning Yuu HAS to become better "defined", thus losing their blank slate nature. This would surely upset some fans who deeply project onto Yuu, have a Yuusona, etc.

Yuu can still make an impact on the characters and the world--and they have, judging by how much closer the boys are with each other--without having to be The Most Special One or like everyone else. I think it undermines what Yuu has already managed to achieve to say that they haven't made an impactful choice at ANY point in the main story when I believe they definitely have. Yuu made the choice to sign the contract with Azul. Yuu made the choice to approach Malleus. Yuu made the choice to go against Crowley's orders and go retrieve Grim from S.T.Y.X. Yuu made the choice to get Leona’s help with the contracts. Yuu made the choice to stand with Adeuce against Riddle in book 1. Yuu made the choice to let the VDC/SDC tribe train at Ramshackle. Yuu has done a lot, and all without needing to seize the spotlight or to do anything big and flashy. I don't think Yuu needs to be big and flashy. There is pride to be had in simplicity and being humble too. There is pride in representing the 90% of humans in Twisted Wonderland that are ordinary and without magic.

(An aside: so if Yuu wasn’t able to manifest magic in many other extreme instances, does that mean their desire to save Grim in book 6 wasn’t “enough”? That their desire to save Ramshackle, their one and only home in this world, wasn’t “enough”? It implies that Yuu didn’t wish hard enough for these other things they clearly care about and want.)

I think a good way to give Yuu a decent role while staying true to their design as a blank slate would be for Twst to really lean into the whole "beast tamer" aspect that was introduced all the way back in the prologue. This would work well with their deep connection to Grim as well. Assuming that Grim ends up being the final OB... We could easily have the NRC students and staff on the ropes, Malleus at his wit's end after exhausting himself with his own OB, a rampaging Grim about to end it all. And then... one lone figure shakily rises from the rubble and confronts Grim. One human. Magicless, defenseless. A human lost in an unfamiliar world, a human who believes they're useless and don't contribute much. A human who is always in need of being protected by others. But not anymore. This time, it's Yuu's turn to protect what they love--their friends, this world they've come to love, Grim. Ace and Deuce yelling at Yuu to not be stupid, to get back--but Yuu just advances, calling out to Grim and begging him to stop. And maybe it's Yuu's wish that rallies everyone and/or gets OB Grim to hesitate. That's when they can strike. Is that corny? Yeah. Does it sound like the ending to a Disney film? Sure. But it still grants Yuu, a magicless human that is supposed to be there to teach everyone about friendship, cooperation, and humility, their big moment to shine. The best of both worlds, I'd say.

Help an intersex family in Gaza!

Hi everyone. I'd like to share about a fundraiser that is very important to me. A good friend of mine is in contact with the organizers.

Their story:

"Hello, my name is Abeer. I'm organizing this fundraising campaign from Belgium on behalf of my family, who currently live in Gaza. 

Since October 7, all families in Gaza have been subjected to genocide. My family is one of those families that has had to flee its own home several times because of the threat of regular attacks. 

After two months, my family decided to return home and take the risk of being bombed at any moment rather than stay in the street. Our 4-floor building now contains over 100 people who have fled from different parts of Gaza. We always open our hearts for our own people, but we can't do it without your help and support. 

My parents, Kamal (53) and Moukaram (51), are suffering from the war because of their age and health. My brother Suliman, his wife Rawan Abualnaja and their two-year-old daughter Bisan are trying to stay strong, but it's complicated by their little daughter's enormous needs. My other siblings who are not married are Mohammed 25, Inas 22, Ibrahim 17, Abdallah 15.

My family medical condition during the war:

My father suffers from delusional disorders. He can't work or help my family financially. Mohammed and Ibrahim suffer from a chronic disease, congenital adrenal hyperplasia. It is difficult for them to obtain medication in Gaza. One of their medicines has not been available in Gaza for two years. During the war, they couldn't get their medicines because they simply didn't exist anymore. My family members are still suffering. They don't want to be potential victims. They want to escape death and live like other families on the planet.

 On 01/01/2024, they attacked the local mosque and the missile failed to explode and ended up in front of my family's house. My family is in danger and the missile will explode any second.

Since then, my family has decided to be evacuated from Gaza because of the senseless attack on our city. Please help me evacuate my family to Egypt so that they can rebuild their lives in peace.

I've been in Belgium for over five years. I feel useless because I haven't been able to do much except try to help them with their daily living expenses. That's why we created this campaign. We're raising funds to evacuate my family to Egypt, a place that offers a glimmer of hope and stability. However, the cost of the evacuation is high, hence our call for crowdfunding.

Every contribution makes a difference The funds we raise will be used for :

- Evacuation from Gaza for both families (Rafah border crossing fees for 9 people total)  - Two months of temporary living expenses in Egypt, including food, shelter, and transportation  - Passport fees  - Food expences untill they leave Gaza

They are using a French platform called Papayoux Solidarite instead of GoFundMe. Abeer also has a Paypal account for non European donors.

They are currently at 33 588,78 €/ 50,000 €.

We need to help them meet their goal. Intersex liberation means intersex liberation everywhere--it is so important that we show up in solidarity. Those of us living with CAH know how dangerous salt wasting crises are without medication, and how important it is to urgently help Mohammed and Ibrahim get access to the medications they need to support their CAH. Intersex solidarity means that we need to show up and support intersex people facing genocide.
