While the 2024 Christmas special today was heavily Tari focused, I realized the episode also had a subtle reference to 3’s insecurities as mentioned in trash friends, so I wanna talk about it

There’s a scene toward the end where Tari seems to see the “dark” versions of her friends insulting her (that scene had Saiko, Meggy, Bob, Boopkins, Mario, and 4). However while 4 is the one standing there, this scene gives him both 3’s subtitles and voice.

I initially thought this was just a really complex error, but the more I think about it the more it makes more sense for it to have been intentional.

At the very end of the episode it’s revealed 3 is the one telling this Christmas story to Eggdog (possibly having written it as well but we don’t know that). And this little moment is the only time he’s even in the story, which feels unlike him to me.

But then I remembered what he said in his breakdown in Trash Friends early this year:

He sees himself as the worse version of 4, and the only time he put himself in this story was as the dark and menacing vision of 4. This told me that not only does he still feel this way about himself, he worries his friends think this way of him too.

I’m gonna be thinking about this all week at least, because this is the first time since Trash Friends that it’s even been hinted at again. Hopefully this means that that whole thing will finally be revisited soon, likely early next year if so.

And since this new episode’s description didn’t have any mention of the holiday break like usual, that most likely means there’s one last episode for the year next week. Maybe something could happen then, who knows? Just gotta stay tuned to see :3

SMG4 THEORY

So, I saw a twitter post about some of last year’s movies.

IGBP is a sequel to SMG4 goes Insane.

Western Spaghetti is a sequel to Wild Wild Mario

WOTFI 2023 is a sequel to Casinos, Cards, and Chips

And WOTFI 2024 is a sequel to The Mario Carnival.

And it got me thinking.

By this logic, have ANY of Mr Puzzles’ shows been original?

NO. 

They haven’t.

Not a single one of his shows are an original idea.

(before I get jumped, technically A Night at SMG4’s wasn’t one of his shows. And if it was, you could argue it was a sequel to something like Freddy’s spaghettiria.)

Now, that just seems like a fun fact, not a theory. Where am I going with this?

Well, I also saw something here on tumblr. There are a lot of parallels between 4 and Mr Puzzles. I’m not naming them all, but just know that there are enough to start considering how alike they really are.

But, what do 4 and Mr Puzzles NOT have in common?

Well, 2 big things.

4 has friends, obviously. And he values his friends a lot.

But, more importantly, to this theory at least, 4 has creative vision.

4 has the ability to make things.

He can make things people genuinely enjoy without copying existing things.

He makes. 

Mr Puzzles doesn’t.

Mr Puzzles copies.

He makes parodies. He makes sequels. He remakes things. But he can’t make anything of his own. 

That’s the difference between them. 

Mr Puzzles is a stand-in for the big media companies.

4 is the talented freelancers that big companies prey off of and buy.

4 is basically just a better version of Mr Puzzles.

He has friends, an audience who loves him, and creativity.

That’s why Mr Puzzles can’t make a good show without him and his friends.

And, that’s why Mr Puzzles hates 4 so much.

Sure, he hates everyone because they keep beating him, especially Mario, but he hates 4 more than the others. (excluding Mario)

Why?

He’s just jealous.

Oh boy everyone!!! It's finally happening!!!! 

WOTFI 2024 Is less than 24 hours away and I wanted to share some predictions/theories!!!

- Mr. Puzzles is going to get someone horribly maimed or killed.

We already have a possible confirmation from our dear Television himself in the PSA.

- Who should we be most scared for??? I know a lot of people are scarred for Meggy and SMG3 but based on Mr. Puzzles Clubhouse beginning scene we should be most concerned for Mario and SMG4.

Both were on Puzzles absolute LOATH list with the most knives or sharp deadly objects thrown at. Though with Mario being the world's Avatar I have to assume they wouldn't go killing that man. At most horribly injured. Though SMG4 is definitely not in the clear. Despite being our main protagonist he is high on Puzzles hate list. 

Though I can imagine SMG3 possibly saving SMG4's life. So SMG3 could easily be an accidental target.

- Now another one I've seen is will Puzzles live after this WOTFI? And as much as I'd love to give a “oh he's so gonna _____ after this WOTFI.” But I can't. I can see it going either way but a part of me does hope for a possible redemption. With his backstory and all. I feel it's possible. But again I can also see him dying as a high possibility for what he's done to the crew and others. So I'll leave this as is.

- Do I believe we'll get some sweet sweet SMG34? YES. With how SMG3 was in Welcome to Puzzle Park I can see the two sticking pretty close once they can find each other.

With that I believe as this being my first ever live WOTFI experience, this is going to be an absolute blast!!!!

this is the most implausible statement I have ever seen, and I'm gonna debunk what Cube said (more below cut)

"doesn't mean anything significant" — if it were an honest mistake, then they would've changed it back to "SMG4" instead of "Not SMG3. Stop looking too deep."

The wording on that too, as in a warning/giant stop sign. Also it's giving off

The implication is that Cube (or someone on the Team) uploaded the song and didn't notice it was labeled as SMG4 (not a hack) — let's get the basics down. Yes, you can upload your own music on said platform for your use only, not on the artist page. HOWEVER, for it to be uploaded on MULTIPLE platforms and stay for 6 DAYS straight, now that's weird when you have two DIFFERENT processes for uploading songs.

If that person accidentally went through the public process, you would have to enter the credits manually (other than it needs to be approved by spotify ofc). That's when you are like "oops, looks like I was about to send this on the artist page lol". Even if you forgot how to do the private process, you can GOOGLE IT.

IF it was Cube, then it would totally contradict an earlier tweet "what the hell is flareglow?"

IF it wasn't Cube, it still wouldn't make sense. Ben was the first to point it out on Jan 4. Now you would think a discussion took place in their group chat as soon as Ben tweeted that and go something along the lines of:

"man this is sucks" [*posts a pic of the cover*] "wait is that on our page?" "yeah lol" "that shouldn't be there. who did that?" "oh sorry that was me, my bad" "let's just take it down" (before some fan goes insane over this, sorry what)

It wouldn't take Cube 5 days (Jan 9) to just notice that song to be on the artist page to then claim you are starting to fix it a week later

"Trying to fix that one" — now that is strange because as soon as Cube asked/pointed out about Flareglow, the song was suddenly taken down from multiple platforms (on the same day). If it was a mistake, then it should be all good. Hell, even the Spotify pfp is back to normal. Then tell me, Cube, what more do you need to "fix", hmmm?

Yeah, i pronounce this as "deflection" and I'm still on to you, Cube. And no, I'm not gonna think about how this tweet was reposted by Shadow (no qrt), gotta focus here.

Maybe it convinced some people that there was nothing suspicious but I'll still be here in my seat with a bag of popcorn bc I KNOW this isn't the end of it.

Hey, so I think I might have figured this code out in the newest Smg4 video, maybe?

Okay, so, this is the original code.

11-12-1-19 2-1-11: 2

First, I changed the numbers into letters by using the alphabet. 1 being A, 2 being B, 3 being C, and so on. Which gave me this:

Which confused me until I changed two letters around. Making this.

Swapped 2 & 1

I immediately tied this to Smg3 as he says "Baka," a fair bit in Smg4. But I wasn't convinced it meant anything until I figured out that almost all of the numbers were doubled except for 12 & 19.

I figured 12 out pretty fast. But 19 took me a while to figure out. With 12, I remembered something about the number being in the 3 timetables, and that it was the 4th number.

3 × 4 = 12

34..

When I figured this out, I was still doubtful. Since I knew the creatives on the show sometimes fuel the ship, why is it being hidden like as though it's important? On a classified document, and with Mr. Puzzles?

So I just thought it was some kind of coincidence and that it was something deeper or that the code ultimately meant nothing and that I was just wasting my time on it. Besides, 19 didn't mean anything, right?

Yes and no.

I was right about the number itself, not meaning anything until I used additions.

What two numbers made up 19?

9 + 10..

After seeing those two numbers, I instantly thought of a certain meme.

Now it was 21.. I searched up what time tables could go into 21, the two numbers being 3 and 7.

3 × 7 = 21

I first thought about the number 3, which I realised was kinda stupid of me once I remembered the numbers that made up 7 were 3 and 4.

3 + 4 = 7

Either these somehow are 3 coincidences, or really is about Smg34.

Now, unless there is more that I'm missing in this code. I have a few guesses. (If anyone can think of anything else, I'd love to know.)

The classified document is most likely an image or YouTube thumbnail.

If it's a thumbnail, I believe it could be either:

A. Wotfi 2023

This one is because Mr. Puzzles had a YouTube thumbnail of the Puzzlevision movie, and I was thinking about how wotfi 2023 was the last big event before Puzzlevision. As well as Smg3 and Smg4 being the highlighted characters in it.

B. Snowtrapped..

Okay.. I know it has been milked to death by people submitting it for the Wotfi 2024 challenges. But, I feel like it could explain why it's in the document and considered classified. I'm not a fan of this one.

C. A thumbnail for a future episode.

Idk if it would make sense, but eh.. it could be cool.

Now, just some or one of the images that could be in the document.

A. Smg3's notebook.

An image of it or the physical book itself.

B. The drawing at the end of Smg3's notebook

Because it's still a secret to everyone that Smg3 drew a picture of him and Smg4 hanging out together.

C. An image of Smg3 and 4 hanging out or doing something that would be considered gay. Something that would embarrass Smg3 and/ or 4 probably.

Either way, if none of these options are right, I'm hoping we actually get to see what's in the document or that the code is foreshadowing something.

I also used pager codes mixed with the baka I found before. I found these sentences, but I don't know if the creatives behind Smg4 meant for someone to use pager codes.

Ok ok one final jumbled prediction for WOTFI 2024:

So we all know about the Shadow Man Easter egg charecter right? The one who we see in small glimpses scattered across the Mr. Puzzles episodes? (Most prominently seen as a hand in Mr Puzzles' Clubhouse at 1:38? )

Well,,, what if that's Mr Puzzles dad?

Alright, hear me out.

What if his father saw what Puzzles has grown up to be and realized it was his fault, so now he follows him around in hopes of finding a way to atone/fix things? Maybe the crew find themselves stuck with no way to get out and in comes Puzzles Senior to save them. (Although I REALLY want to see Tari be the one to break them out like in Western Spaghetti.)

And at the end there will be this climactic moment of him saying 'Im so sorry I was never supportive, it's my fault you turned out that way, I just want to mend things between us' and maybe distract him until the SMG4 crew go in for the kill. Because let's face it, he's going to die.

Another really interesting idea is that this could be puzzles from another timeline where he didn't go insane and maybe actually did become a famous director, coming to this dimension somehow to tame his alter self.

Either that or: (and I really like this one) Mr Puzzles was never a human to begin with.

My personal headcanon for him is that he is fully robotic and his creator, the actual Kid Puzzles, created him for his theme park. However, due to some conflict or other, Puzzles was set free into the world, not knowing that he was supposed to be a mascot, but having the memories of his creator and knowing that at some point he used to be a kid who watched TV a lot.

Maybe the shadow man is Kid (Now Man) Puzzles looking for his missing creation, and as the one who programmed him, he could help Tari bring him down so he could take him in for repairs. That would explain why Puzzles is so heavily characterized by lack of creativity and also give him a chance to show up again in a different episode, but this time a lot more nice and well meaning.

so about that new episode, huh? (<- NOT OKAY MENTALLY)

It’s definitely the start of a new arc. Since October is coming up in a few months, the finale will probably be a WOTFI since they’re always around October/November time.

In terms of the actual episode, it was good! I love seeing Four go crazy again and think it’s really interesting to see him break down. This time it seems to be over tourism instead of perfection since he mentioned tourism twice.

What do I think is causing this? I wouldn’t be surprised if it had something to do with the Lobotomy he had a few months ago. A meme guardian having their meme lobe removed? That can’t be good. I think that’s also what’s causing a few of the video titles to change. Four is arguing with himself internally.

Hopefully this’ll also mean we’ll finally see more cosmology lore but I doubt it. I SWEAR IF I DON’T SEE MY BBG SMG1 SOON IM GONNA FREAK OUT!

I was SUPER happy to see Mr Puzzles again. He’s one of my favourite characters and I honestly don’t want him to be redeemed. And if he does, it’s WAY too early for a redemption rn.

Where do I think it’s going from here? Well, like I said: WOTFI 2024!! I think that either SMG4 or Mr Puzzles will be the villain for this year’s Wotfi and all of these things are building up to it! I think that if SMG4 is the villain, Mario and the rest of the crew will team up to take him down. OR, Mario and Mr Puzzles will work together to save the SMG4 crew/get into the meme factory. They both have business in there so I can see Mr Puzzles pretending to be an ally for his own gain then betraying Mario once he has what he wants from the factory. Mario would want to get into the factory to save his friends after what happened this week or potentially whatever could happen later down the line.

I based on what we’ve seen, I don’t think Meggy will be back to normal for a while and the next few episodes will probably not have too much SMG4 in them since he’s busy doing this tourism bullshit.

Anyway, those are my thoughts and theories on the new episode!

Is anyone else a little worried for this man's big return? Like they definitely are leading up to it and with the most recent episode, "Mr. Puzzles' Lowest Point", I really think he's on the edge of going like murderous rampage on the SMG4 crew.

Like he's shown he's willing to harm them like in PuzzleVision the Movie when he said he'd retire the cast. Only with Luigi taking the hit and turning into a meat mallet.

But this time he might just get his chance if the Mouse is involved.

I'm just saying this feels like build up to potentially character death or great harm. Another Zero if you will.

As Heavy from TF2 would say, "but that thing, it scares me.."

...look, I know you're the thumbnail artist for the Team, but BEN YOU CAN'T SAY THESE THINGS. TO ME SPECIFICALLY.

People have pointed out that the left image is from FNAF 4. (so i guess spoiler warning idk)

The context is that it was a puzzle and intended to be open in the same game. However, to this day, no one was able to crack it, and it was never confirmed what was inside that box. Ofc Scott himself planned for there to be more games to return to this point. The thing is, this has been recently changed from "Perhaps some things are best left forgotten, for now" to "Perhaps some things are better left forgotten, forever". For FNAF, it makes sense because the story has changed over time and might not meet the fandom's expectations, but for SMG4?

Here's what we know about the door (literally every mention of it):

When the Castle is revealed, SMG4 goes on to list the rooms the doors lead to...

SMG4: "There's the kitchen, the guest room, my room, the game room, the storage room, the toilet, the exit, and... This... Well... I'm not sure what's behind this door."

Later in the episode, before the Crew went in the gaming room, Luigi points it out again...

Luigi: "Wait, what about that room?" SMG4: "...uh we don't talk about that room."

My interpretation is that Four, since these were his blueprints of the Castle, is aware that something is in there but (1) doesn't even know how to describe it AND/OR (2) doesn't want to reveal it to the Crew. I know for a fact Four suppresses stuff, so no surprise there. There's no reason to have it boarded up unless Four wanted to keep something in. And leave everyone out.

"...for now." yeah, we're gonna have to solve a puzzle aren't we?

As much as this post was simply Ben asking/teasing us, there's no doubt that they're gonna reveal what's inside that room this year. It literally could be anything at this point, from something serious to something embarrassing that Four doesn't want to share. (Then again why have that room in the first place?) Want to take a guess?

Sleepy theory time since the official steam acc still hasn’t changed from “Not Smg3” and the idea came to mind.

What if the Smg4 that we’re seeing right now isn’t the “real” Smg4.

I wanna remind everyone that Smg4 himself has only appeared in one episode so far this year (Mario Drinks Water). Which, to be fair, we’re only two episodes in this year. So he hasn’t been exactly “missing” for a long time.

He doesn’t have much of an appearance. And even then, half of his voice lines were taken from meme clips. Smg4 only actually talks when telling Mario to drink water. That’s it.

His only other appearance in the episode was to join in the others giving Smg3 disappointed glares. But Smg4 doesn’t speak, or even move for that matter. (Then again, the others don’t either. They all sort of glide off screen. Not exactly the weirdest behavior. But still worth pointing out his stone silence imo.)

It’s not like Smg4 has never had his identity stolen before (A Totally Normal SMG4 Episode). So I’m just saying, it’s entirely possible this “Smg4” is someone else. Whether this is another case of stolen identity. Or a double acting as Smg4 for the time being, I’m not sure.
