One thing I love about Teen Wolf is how scalable and interactive the narrative is.

It can be a fluffy and mac-and-cheese comfort show, trademarked by werewolves and teenage love stories and shirtless guys and campy action sequences and humor and friendship—

Or, it can be multi-layered and dive into deceptively piercing topics. What it's like to live with a haunting secret, or shame. How longing for something you'll never have can eat away at you, cause you to do things you never thought you'd do. The relief of finally finding your place, and the uncertainty of navigating an unsafe world that does not want you.

It can be both or either of those things, depending on what /you/ as the viewer want or need out of it. Somehow, the plot holes and the gaps (even when they're frustrating) manage to carve away the perfect space for exploration and personal interpretation.

That's why writing fanfiction for Teen Wolf is so fun. There is so much room to play. So many lose threads there are to find and tie up any which way you please, or outlines that you can color in with whatever color palette suits you.

It's far from a perfect show, of course, and there will always be parts of it that I downright hate, or never make sense of. But it also feels like proof that imperfect things can still take on life in mysterious ways and you can never really know what a story can grow into. It might just Velveteen Rabbit its way into becoming something More.
