He buys them all little motorcycles with matching helmets, obviously safe for the mids, little mini bikes so he can ride around with them. He is definitely a family man and would love a partner like this.

He's awed by all of the pretty, impossibly delicate lace and silk that's so perfect and slippery and soft.

The thought of his girl wearing something so genuinely beautiful makes his heart speed up - and the thought of her wearing it for him? His blood rushes south a little too quick.

They spend a little while picking out a few sets to each of their liking, all blush pinks and cornflour blues, careful to feel the fabric, take in the intricacies of the lace and little bows.

She offers to show him when he tries them on, which he denies - not because he isn't itching to see her in them as soon as possible, but because he'd rather not be walking around the mall with a raging hardon.

I've seen a post going around saying that if we eat the rich we shouldn't touch Pearl. And it got me curious on what is it that makes her an exception ? Pearl is not just rich. She's CRAZY rich. We saw it in her interview, her mansion is immense and she keeps mentioning how much money she has randomly. But I think there's several reason why we don't see Pearl as bad for her money.

One, Pearl is a good person. Genuinely. Pearl is known to be generous, to care a lot about others and to be willing to spend money to help everyone. We see it when she's helping Eight in the metro, not hesitating a single second to help her out with money (btw, she didn't ask for her to give it back. Cuttlefish did). We also see it with Marina, who visibly lives with her (see the pic down) and who she probably took care of when she was homeless.

Two, Pearl's personality isn't just money. We don't love Pearl because she's crazy rich. We love her because she's unhinged, because she's sweet and caring, because she's funny ... She's not Scrooge McDuck. Money has an important part in her life but it's not her main personality trait.

Three, Pearl is close the punk scene, and it seems that she grew up in this environment as a young adult. Punks are inherently linked to concepts like anticapitalism, anarchy (hence why she was team chaos), freedom of the individual and anticonformism. There is no way she grew up in this scene without learning about these concepts and at least adhering to them in some way. The reason why she got into punk was most likely to express herself, meaning she probably had some retrospective beforehand.

Four, Pearl is humble. And what I mean by that isn't that Pearl doesn't talk about her money. She does, obviously. But rather that Pearl's wealth doesn't seem to make her feel superior in any way to others. She will talk to you like any other person no matter your status. It was obvious with how she treated Marina when they first met. It's also seen with the fact that she's friend's with the agents, even calling Eight a really good friend of hers. But it's still present to this day with Damp Socks.

Damp Socks could've been formed in many different ways. But Pearl actually found everyone on social medias. These people were just random dudes she found cool and that she got into a big adventure.

And finally, Pearl works hard. She was born into wealth, but nowadays, the reason why she has money is because her band is successful. Pearl has always shown a desire to improve herself, to change and try new things, to work into building up a future for herself and Marina. That's one of the reasons why she wanted chaos. She refuses to get stuck in a box that would keep bringing her wealth and fame but that would ultimately make her feel like she doesn't improve anymore. Damp Socks is a manifestation of Pearl's wish to grow up. And to me, this proves that Pearl wants to change for the better.

... Also she screamed so loud at a terrorist that he blew up. I guess that helps.

sally park: a missed opportunity

this is probably going to rot in drafts for a WHILE but i needed to scream into the void about this so let me rant to YOU (yes, you) about how ptj fucked up sally park's writing and purpose in the story so much that she is now just a bundle of missed opportunities. the same could also be said about other characters like crystal choi, luah lim, etc. but i just reread hunt for hostel and i have a lot of insane thoughts that need to be screamed about.

as a character who was the center of attention during her introduction arc, she has been reduced to simply an eli enabler and warren's love interest, who gets about 3 panels to really shine, and then is demoted back into window dressing.

warning: mild eli hate ahead but i do NOT hate eli, i just hate ptj for making everything hostel related eli-centric, when sally is arguably just as important.

so. lets start at the beginning.

from the very beginning, the eli jang arc was told from sally's perspective especially based off the narration, and her character during the majority of the eli jang arc BANGED. initially introduced as a classic demure, feminine savior figure for bad boy warren in the first chapter of the eli jang arc, it's then shown that she isn't as naive or one-dimensional as she may seem.

in fact, shes shown to be fiercely independent and self-sufficient, learning to live by herself and deal with her own problems without anyone helping her, while simultaneously grappling with her grandmother blaming her over her dad's death (side note this plotline, which could've added so much depth to her story was NEVER picked up again)

on my first read of the eli jang arc, this sequence actually punched me in the gut and sally became an instant fav

but i digress. continuing back to the main point, sally was a tremendously well written character (or as good as we're gonna' get when it comes to female characters by ptj) in the eli jang arc, whether it be her narration (scenes like "sometimes i think if i hadn't introduced them to eli back then, our story wouldn't have been such a tragedy"), or her actual actions in the story.

she was integral to the story. in fact, i would say that she was MORE central to the heart and soul of hostel than eli jang was (at first, before she got butchered by ptj and forgotten about) because it was HER that was providing for her family with HER own money, until eli stepped in months later. she was the one that everyone wanted to assist and protect because she was who was holding everyone together through her sacrifice and love.

LOOK AT HER!!! just LOOK AT HER!!! she is so noble and tragic and she does everything for the sake of her family, including starving herself! she is so tremendously loving and sacrifices so much for her family, which is why everyone unites around her to help her!

in fact, the reason warren, eli, and others devolve into crime and stealing is to help her get more money for food, as they can't bear to see her starve herself. while this does come off a little bit white knight-ey (oh a big strong man has to save the sweet damsel), the point is that she has this kind of power over the people around her through her genuine leadership skills

not only that, but she was actually also the one who came up with the idea of using their old building to provide for more homeless kids, showing that she really should be credited with the creation and management of the runaway fams, far more than she is in the story.

even though, immediately after, its shown that she didn't think enough about the financials of the situation, and eli gets his time to shine by coming up with the point organization stuff, the way its framed portrays both sally's idea and eli's financial proposal of the financial system as equally important things. this scene makes me think that, at the very least, sally and eli's importance should be on equal footing: sally is the passion, the heart, the core, while eli is the figurehead, the brains, the fighter.

in summary, sally was the person who united the original hostel A through her leadership, kindness, and sacrifice, and had so much soft power over everyone that the entirety of her family would do anything to help her. she also came up with the idea of helping runaway families, demonstrating her kindness and generosity.

not only that, she was still actively managing the runaway families and making money while eli fucked off to j high to become a barber, allowing her to get closer to the runaway fams and inspire them with her leadership.

with all that said, it's clear that sally should be a three-dimensional girlboss who uses her charisma and good personality to gain soft power and lead the people around her as one of the figureheads and hearts of the hostel crew, right?

well. no.

after the eli jang arc, she becomes close to useless.

i dont remember much of 2A outside of the big deal stuff, but what i do remember is that sally does nothing, wins a singular rock-papers-scissors game, and then becomes a damsel in distress again that warren needs to save and gets to show off his cool fighting skills in the process. (this may not be accurate, feel free to correct me if im wrong)

but my BIGGEST gripe is the hunt for hostel arc. the hunt for hostel arc was very much centered around eli, warren, and even jerry, more than it was sally, despite how much of an integral role she played in the formation of hostel. during the entire arc, she does basically nothing but watch on the sidelines

... and then ptj pulls this on us. they all unite because they admire and love eli jang so much? only eli jang? not warren chae, gangdong's mighty? not max and derek, the two uncles? not sally park, THE big mama?

i cannot emphasize how ironic it is that sally, the big mama, quite literally gave birth to the idea of the runaway fams, and yet nobody mentions her again afterwards, and only ever eli jang. like... what did eli ever do for you? give you a shitty haircut?

and when warren and eli leave, i FINALLY thought that ptj was going to give sally a moment to shine and show her by herself again, like she was all that time ago, and how she figures out how to save her family despite being unable to fight...

but no. we get this sick ass panel and then she is completely irrelevant again

the next example of the sally erasure comes when eugene is talking to eli about him joining workers. he tries to convince eli that this is the ONLY thing that he can do to protect his family, and that, now that he's here and so is warren, hostel is weak and helpless because the MEN that get everything done aren't there anymore and "oh no, what can sally park and the girls do?"

like fym "what can they do"?! sally is a LEADER and she has POWER and INFLUENCE (or at least, she should). but no, the narrative doesn't prove him wrong, and sally does next to nothing in the narrative.

i cannot emphasize how much more of a leader figure she is than eli btw. she took all the runaway kids under her wing. it was her idea to build an organization for these kids in the first place. she was the one singlehandedly raising money for all 7 high schoolers in her family before eli stepped in. she STARVED HERSELF and CUT HER OWN FINGERS trying to make food for her family. she was THE big mama. EVERYONE wanted to protect her and respect and love her. and yet ELI is the main character of hostel that is oh so important and that everyone will unite under????

"oh no without you how will anything get done, eli jang?" stfu

and even when she does do things, later on, it's really more of an excuse for vasco to shine. while she was the one to get heather's mom to forgive eli, as well as the one that got vasco to save eli in the first place, 1) her major role in this part of the story is entirely sidelined and given no narrative weight outside of being the reason that eli's healing arc can happen and 2) the only agency we've ever seen her having since hostel arc is in relation to eli. she only ever acts on her own to save eli. she PROBABLY did stuff outside of that to help hostel, but that is entirely offscreen and not focused on at all, so her leadership and agency when it comes to things outside of a MAN are ignored.

in chapter 478, i thought that she was once again given a brief moment to shine when she looked sad and all wondering what they would do once they didn't have the income workers supplied them with, and i was hoping that she'd get a chance to creatively problem solve around it to show a good character moment for her and the rest of hostel... but who am i kidding this is ptj of course he wouldnt do that. nah, it was just a scene so that vasco could introduce jay again and be like "hey guys jay is actually relevant to the story and he's a nice person, just so you guys dont forget that he's still there! and also ignore this deus ex machina ass solution to a conflict that could've been a really interesting character study!!"

so yeah. that's basically it. in conclusion, i think sally park is a HUGE missed opportunity for ptj to finally write a good female character. kind, compassionate, charismatic, smart, sally's got it all. however, just because she is a soft character doesn't mean that she's a pushover and she held tremendous power and authority because of everything she did for her family. however, ptj decides to do nothing with her and turn her into an eli enabler and a warren love interest instead, ignoring her leadership skills and influence.

and once again, no hate to eli, warren, jerry, jay, or any of the other character i just shat on to make a point!! i like all of them, but i just think that sally's character assassination to allow them to shine was an infuriating decision on ptj's part

(Noise): He doesn't like The Noise. Several times has Pepperman's art been vandalized by him. The Noise has also mixed colors into all of his white paints. He thinks The Noise is annoying, but he also sort of envies him for his fame and money.

(Noisette): He thinks she's ignorant. While he doesn't think she's necessarily dumb, he thinks she's a bit closed-minded. He thinks the rabbit mask thing is totally cliche and unoriginal.

The Vigilante:

(Noise): He doesn't like The Noise too much. He thinks he's very obnoxious and loud. He also doesn't like the fact that he's a felon. However, he thinks The Noise is very clever.

(Noisette): He adores Noisette and sees her almost as family. (I hc they have a niece/uncle relationship.) The two are best friends and chat a lot. She tells him secrets about The Noise that he'd rather not hear... That's how he found out about Noise's criminal history.

The Noise: As much as he denies it, he loves Noisette with all of his heart. She's the only woman that will deal with his antics and put him in his place when he's being an asshole. He just gets embarrassed talking about love. Although, he does wish she wouldn't go spewing out his secrets to everybody.

Noisette: She loves her Noisey-poo! She doesn't care about the fame or money or even how he looks. He's a completely different person around her. She doesn't mind it when he acts all silly. However, she won't hesitate to cuss him out or smack him when he gets nasty with her.

(Noise): He thinks The Noise is mean and scary! He doesn't quite understand that The Noise isn't human.

Juno: Constant affirmations to those she loves, staying by their side. Holding hands, taking pictures, spending off time with them, and trying to help with whatever she can. With Kylar she also nuzzles up to her and purrs, sends sweet texts and things that remind her of her. Sometimes she spontaneously buys something, beit a trinket, food, or something for the house, just because she thought of her.

Kylar: Sometimes she sneaks into Juno's room and leaves notes, gifts or flowers. When Juno has to pay Bailey she tries her best to help out with scrounging up money. Material things aside, she also is basically glued to Juno's side. Constantly flirts and tells her how much she loves her. Texts every time she thinks of her.

Juno: Fiercly loyal. Will fight for you, try to help with everything she can, chat about anything and everything. Food y'all get is on her.

Kylar: So we need to pretend she hasn't experienced The Horrors. Would also be very loyal to her bestie, expect plenty of infodumps about her current interests as well as gushing over her lover. She isn't always the best at reading situations, but she would try to be supportive in times you would need it.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

Juno: Absolute cuddlebug. Loves cuddling with friends, it's her way to comfort others. Usually opts for spooning or hugging each other.

Kylar: Makes any physical contact with Juno possible, of course she loves cuddling. Even the most awkward positions are perfect so long as their bodies touch each other as much as possible. Fuck, why can't she just melt into her lover's skin?

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

Both of them want to settle down to start a family. Juno simply can't do it while they're in town. She teaches Kylar to cook and clean since those are skills she learned at the orphanage. Kylar's working on getting better at those.

Break up? What breakup? Both would rather die.

Juno: Never thought about commitment in a romantic sense before dating Kylar. Like, she does feel committed to Robin and fellow orphans. Is that something you have to think about? Then realizing she's in love with Kylar made her jump head first into the concept. Genuinely doesn't understand people who say they're afraid of it. As for marriage, it's not something she thinks about too much. She would love to marry Kylar but she would rather do so when she's got their lives out of the town prepared. The actual wedding would still be in dolville since Kylar wants her parents to attend.

Kylar: Commitment is her middle name. She wanted to marry Juno since they first met. She needs her lover to need her just as much. Literally that pic of that bride and groom where the bride has the red string on her pinky and the groom basically tied up with it.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

Juno: Being a bit muscular and having rough hands, as well as being someone who fights, she's paranoid about whether she isn't gentle enough when she cuddles or holds hands. Robin never had any complaints, some of the younger orphans feel her hands are too scratchy, and Kylar loves every embrace, even when Juno forgets her own strength. Juno might blurt out something insensitive sometimes, though she tries not to. She does try her best to be gentle with her words, and other orphans appreciate her comfort.

Kylar: Really doesn't give a shit if it's anyone that isn't Juno. She's too timid to do or say things in attempt to fight back against bullies, but every time something happens she fantasizes about being their downfall. Sometimes she says something vile to Robin about her unrequited love. But when she's with Juno she's an angel. She doesn't have any experience comforting others but she'll try! And her embraces are not very gentle at all. Squeezing squeezing until Juno feels like her ribs are gonna break. Surprising strength coming from such a small skinny girl.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Juno: Loves hugs :) She'd hug Robin before work every day, before splitting up at school, at birthdays... Also hugs other orphans if they want to. Her arms go all the way around her hugging partner if they can. She hugs Kylar from behind if she sees her in the hallway (it makes her girlfriend shiver– it's delightful)

Kylar: Hasn't had a hug since a while before her parents got turned. Getting into an angsty phase in her tweens meant she didn't like it. But, when she saw the pale monsters wearing remains of her parents' clothing, all she wanted was a hug. No one at school would touch her unless they were assaulting her. Touch starvation was eating away at her being. Feeling Juno's hand on hers while she handed her pencils from the floor, her strong arm supporting her on the way to the nurse... It's a surprise she didn't fucking explode. She doesn't take it for granted. She touches and hugs Juno whenever she can. Smothering, rib crushing hugs.

Juno: It takes a while for her to realize she's in love. Like. A year. So it's not that she held back from saying it, she simply didn't understand her feelings. Robin was no help (sore loser). But she said it right after Kylar first did, and does so every time they meet.

Kylar: Told her every night, every time she opened her locker, every day she makes sure she gets home safe. Didn't mean for her to hear it though... not yet. Too scared, shy. It was on accident. She just suddenly woke up... But it was all history from there :)

Juno: Doesn't get very jealous. Given how isolated Kylar is she doesn't have anything to be jealous about anyway. Does she get jealous of other people? Well, there were times when she'd see feminine women and girls and want to be them. Especially while she was at work. In a masculine role while girls gawked sometimes. God, she wanted to be them. Pretty, dolled up for wherever they were going, soft curves...

Kylar: It's a mess. She gets jealous of anyone interacting with her girlfriend. She's driven Juno's best friend, Robin, away. Though that has more to do with her having feelings for her. Shame on Robin, trying to take advantage of a girl with good intentions! All she did was show her a little lesson (no she didn't actually do anything I can post a talk they had later). Of course when her jealousy was at its peak she kidnapped Juno. It got violent, and in her hysteria she took all the frustration and anger out on her. Ensured every part of Juno belonged to her, that she took everything Juno had to offer. Did she hurt her? Yeah. Did she forgive her? Of course :)

Juno: Her lips are usually a bit chapped so kisses may come with a little discomfort. When she got with Kylar she tried to start making a habit of using chapstick. If it's not the lips, it's the neck and any part of Kylar's face. Also loves kissing her fingers, maybe "slipping" and sucking the digits a tiny bit. Juno: Very good with kids! Sometimes she gets along too well with them and enables misbehavior. Caretakers in the youth ward scold her for it all the time.

Kylar: Kids are scared of her to be honest. Her demeanor is unusual, and if they're raised by temple folks, then they'd also have the idea that she and her family are wicked. And her appearance, being so pale, thin, and having dark circles under her eyes. They think she's a ghost.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

Juno: When she's at the orphanage she'll get dressed, blow a kiss to the owl (though she knows her girl isn't awake yet), and help with breakfast if it's her turn to cook, or take a bath if not. Then breakfast time! She makes sure she's full and heads off to where she needs to be. If it's an off day she'll go to Kylar's home and cook breakfast for her and do a little cleaning. It takes a while for Kylar to get outta bed but she's consistent, so Juno knows how to time it so the foods still hot when she comes downstairs.

Kylar: On school days she's rushing to get herself dressed most of the time. Barely has time to grab a candy bar for breakfast before racing out. When there isn't school she lets herself sleep in for a while. Usually once she's out of bed she's on her computer checking her camera and doing stuff online. If Juno doesn't have work she can definitely smell it. It's a big house but the smell of sausage or bacon manages to waft its way upstairs. When she goes down, there's her beloved cleaning up the kitchen with a couple plates of food on the table.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

Juno: Bath pretty much as soon as she gets home, usually. Dinner, or helping with making dinner. Cleaning duties. Homework. Watching stuff on her phone. Sex with Kylar. She enjoys the nighttime, it's very quiet. Her evenings follow a routine that scarcely gets interrupted.

Kylar: Computer. Bath if she remembers it. Drawing and adding to the growing collection of images of her girlfriend. She could curate a museum dedicated to Juno at this point. Half of her is considering converting the basement for that purpose. Booty calling Juno, making sure to put on cute underwear before seeing her. Or she'll just appear in her girlfriend's room and they have sex. Either way sex almost every night.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

Juno: She doesn't feel like she has anything to hide, so she talks to Kylar about whatever while trying to get closer to her. I mean, she hides her insecurities about her femininity and feeling of obligation to "save" people, but aside from those all is fair game. She does accidentally slip up about those things when they're a lot closer. Really would rather not let anyone know though.

Kylar: Despite her zeal toward her crush, she was very slow to open up to her. What would she do if she scared her away? She's slightly aware that the way she loves her isn't the norm, and there's obviously the stuff with her parents. She felt bad though. She basically knew everything about her but didn't tell anything about herself! When they started dating she gradually opened up, though. She still doesn't really like talking about her past, though.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

Juno: She can take a lot before genuinely getting pissed off. Sure she'll scowl or make a threat, but those don't necessarily mean she's angry. Honestly the best way to anger her is to have power and abuse it. Think: Bailey. Think: Negligent school staff. Bullies hurting those that are weaker. The apathetic so-called law enforcement in the town that is more alarmed by her picking flowers than rapists assaulting people in the open. The police are rapists themselves, what am I even saying.

Kylar: No patience for anyone that isn't Juno! She may not lash out but seething hatred does boil deep within. She's grown to be less resentful nowadays, but she still finds herself imagining her payback. If it's Juno, she's more forgiving. Especially after she completely lost herself when kidnapping her beloved. She never meant to hurt her. Whitney lied, and she believed it. Didn't trust her girlfriend enough. Sometimes the jealousy threatens to boil over, her chest tightens and the urge to isolate Juno comes back. Then she shakes her head and thinks of advice she gave. Something about telling her about what she's feeling and what's causing it. She's still working on making it a habit, but she truly wants the best with her lover.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about people? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

Juno: It might take a bit for something to stick. She does try to remember! She's good at remembering things that happened when she looks at photos she's taken. "Oh, this one, it's from a few years ago. Some volunteers took some of us older orphans to the beach and made barbecue. They were from this organization in another town. Think they said something about a two hour drive."

Kylar: Random people, she doesn't bother. Doesn't even know the names of her classmates. Juno? Well, as mentioned before, she could dedicate an entire museum to her. Logs every habit, anything she mentions in passing, dang she even bothered to remember some stuff about Robin since they're rather close.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in their relationship?)

Juno: Their first date. Huge milestone. Thinking about it makes her mushy. Kylar introducing her to some of her interests, both of them being all dressed up cute for each other for the first time. It was a good day in that no one bothered them either! Just a relaxing time hitting a cafe and window shopping while sharing Kylar's earbuds.

Kylar: When her feelings developed. It's like a high she never comes down from. Is this bad or good? You decide :) But when the high does subside the lows are extreme.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect each other? How would they like to be protected?)

Juno: Very protective in general! Always defends other kids. I've gone over this so many times now lol. As for being protected... She really doesn't get much of it. Big reason she was completely fine with Kylar stalking her was that Kylar protected her from creeps. Blow darts that knocked them out immediately. What a dream. It really does feel like having a guardian angel, especially the times she'd grab her from behind before blowing the dart.

Kylar: Also went over this a lot already. Extremely protective and possessive. She loves the warm fuzzy feeling she gets when Juno swoops in to rescue her from situations. Strong arms holding her up, straightening her tie. Why must Juno be this intimate with everyone she rescues...? She should be the only one Juno protects from now on. Her personal knight.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

Juno: on special days she makes herself look cute and buys gifts for Kylar. Isn't really sure about what else to do for it though. Kylar's enthusiasm makes her feel a little guilty but her girlfriend always reassures her. She does still do so much for her any other day! Has been trying to learn how to cook chinese dishes Kylar's parents would make in the past, but it's difficult since she can't read the recipes they have and she has no way of knowing if recipes online are any good. She does make moon cakes for lunar new year, though.

Kylar: Always going the extra mile for the one she loves. Every holiday and anniversary and birthday she prepares a surprise for her beloved. When it comes to normal dates she doesn't do as much, but she does most of the planning. Gifts are always very personal and thought out.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

Juno: Being stubborn about most things. It ends up hurting her and those around her. She feels bad about it (sometimes) but it's something she hasn't put effort into fixing.

Kylar: Her jealousy will be her downfall. Sometimes it makes her do and say things without thinking. Even though Juno is loving, adoring and completely loyal, she can't help but feel peeved seeing her interact with others. Kids, okay fine. But she'll scare them off if they have a crush on her. But anyone around their age, or god forbid, older... they have a target on their back.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

Juno: Used to be self conscious about not being able to express herself well through her appearance. Didn't really know how to articulate this so she thought it was about being too boyish. When she took Kylar out to get better wardrobes and haircuts, she realized it was a matter of choosing how she looks. Guess living in the orphanage didn't give her the chance to express her individuality.

Kylar: Pre–Juno barely even took care of herself. This got her bullied harder. Greasy hair with split ends galore, overgrown bangs, ill fitting clothes (especially her cardigan, which also has stains that never come out and numerous tears she fixed herself. Cant bring herself to stop wearing it though since it was her mother's.) So yeah didn't really care. She started caring a bit more both for her body and her appearance after meeting Juno.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without each other?)

Juno: Honestly, it always felt like something was missing. Her reckless behavior played a part in trying to figure that out. Since meeting and befriending Kylar she's found more of herself and feels more secure. So... yeah.

Kylar: Well, she's always unwillingly alone. Her world collapsed and never recovered. Her best friend, then her only family. Then absolutely no one would acknowledge her without it being ridicule. Juno finally became the light in her life, finally broke through the fog and grabbed her hand to lead her out. Juno's the only one she has. If she didn't have her anymore, she'd...

Juno: She enjoys getting pets. Only from other orphans and Kylar though. Others might take advantage. Kylar: Surprisingly good with her hands. She can do basic sewing just for repairs but could probably get good at it if she wanted to. Honestly, if she had more resources she could do a lot of things. She mainly tinkers with cheap electronics though, such as the camera in the owl.

Juno: Can't sleep while clothed. Simply impossible for her. She can live with wearing panties but nothing else.

The transformation making those going through it feel like they're about to die is something not addressed as much in canon as it really should be. And I mean, it's no wonder it does because you're body is literally doing an impossible transformation. I really love when fics make him have permanent side-effects from it (one of my favourites based on how often he gets sick in canon is having a weaker immune system). I love the Shinichi whump.

My least fav is obviously Vace. I don't think I need to elaborate but to make it clear l, I haven't ever tried to befriend him so I don't know much about him other than his obsession with killing things, being abusive and a bully.

Next I'll have to put Nomi Nomi not because I don't like them but simply because I've never went out of my way to befriend them so I don't really have an opinion.

Cal was my best friend in my first play through so it hurts me to put him so low but he deserves it. Listen mate I love animals as much as the average gal but you're doing too much. The victim blaming as well?? I'm sorry that I was born on a spaceship set to colonize an alien planet, what did you want me to do? Swim through space and go back to earth? Also your girlfriend's dad died a horrid death and that's still all you have to say? Pacifism isn't a good look on an environment like this one.

Rex is a great dude, there's nothing I dislike about him, he's just simply not as interesting as the others.

Tammy is also kind of on the same boat. I did have a lot of hearts with her on my second play through and helping her be more confident was a very enjoyable journey, she is obviously very kind and empathetic and that makes her incredibly likable. I wish she had some flaws to make a bit more realistic.

This is where things get tough because all the next characters are kinda close but Nem will have to take this one. I romanced her in my most recent play through and she really is just the cutest... until Kom dies and she adopts the whole Helio package. She did become slightly annoying even though I understand her trauma. It's good that you can help her grow out of it, that gives her bonus points. A fun character with some nice character development.

And here comes everyone's fav boy Dys. It took a lot of trying to befriend him, he made it very hard for me and I liked that. I liked how they made him weird and antisocial, he wasn't the misunderstood boy that no one likes but rather it's actually the opposite. His relationship with Tang is so beautifully complex I love every part of it although I still haven't gotten them to reconcile (that damn bar will be the death of me). I would have put him much lower if it wasn't for the exploration buddies relationship that he had with Sol because the most unlikable thing about him (that I honestly never understood) is his obsession with the gardeners. Maybe it's my lack of understanding or the fact that I never really went down that road (making him a gardener/befriending Sym) because it creeps me out but I just don't like his views on the subject. And also I hate his relationship with Sym, nothing cute about a 100+ yo alien praying on a 16 yo boy.

Marz is a character that I thought I was going to hate straight from my first play through. She seemed like the typical mean girl character, who's very pretty has a lot of money is obsessed with clothes and stuff and also bullies every one just because but she's not exactly like that. Sure she has kudos and status and loves her fashion but she has genuinely kind intentions behind her "bullying". She doesn't understand how words can hurt because due to her augument they can't hurt her, she thinks she's helping Dys fit in with her comments and she doesn't want him to be lonely. She's naturally a very commanding person and a true leader but she isn't looking for mindless sheep, she wants you to have self respect and a backbone and I love her for that. Also bonus points to our girl for helping us overthrow the government. I have to say though, all the above doesn't excuse the fact that she can be seriously mean sometimes, but we love her regardless.

My favourite girl, my sweet baby Tangent, who's gone through so much but no matter what you do she doesn't really get a happy ending. I had my eye on her the moment I saw her (her child sprite reminded me of Ino from Naruto that's why) and she was my first romance. Obviously that didn't end well cause my first ending turned out to be tangent's cure (I thought I was just helping my gf bro) and now I'm scared to even talk to her thinking I'll trigger it again but I love her non the less. She's such a complex character I could talk about her for days (special thanks to the person with the multiple tangent discussion posts) her relationship with Dys, the obviously toxic and abusive relationship with Instance, her importance to a whole colony at such a young age, the fact that she's held to adult standards which results in self harming habits and her loneliness, her struggle with mental illness and the death of her mother. I'm writing everything down in a synopsis pretty much because if I start I won't stop. I also love how this abusive relationship was handled compared to Nem and Vace. No matter what you say she won't see how bad Instance is for her and the product of all this abuse is ultimately horrible for her. It adds a realism that hurts to death but is necessary. I also adore her character because it gives us a reminder that not everyone gets a happy ending in life, sometimes the things people go through never really leave them, although admittedly I would kill to see my baby happy, she deserves it.

Dante isn't exactly shy but he does tend to get a little wordless when he's very embarrassed by MC. He recovers quickly enough so I wouldn't say it wrecks his mind to be flirted with. Instead, the way to probably turn his brain to mush is through art. Dedicating songs, sketches, aligning Dante's existence to that of a muse— worthy of that affection.

Lilith is very sweet and doting her route is pretty much full of repression and forbidden love (Inferno and Succubus lore spoilers, you'll understand when you meet her). Prior to establishing a romantic connection with her, Lilith's brain would melt if MC were to call her out on her attraction toward them.

Honestly, he's known MC since they were very young so it really depends, I think he'd be desensitized at this point lol. In the case that MC is normally very extra, Josh would be pretty much immune to anything they might say— if they're normally more guarded sincere words would break him. Surprises are something he can't handle well.

Villanelle is very sweet and naive, her initial reaction to most affective things MC says or does is to accept it wholeheartedly and return it eagerly. To really really break her would be easy tho lol, flirty MCs would completely shatter her expectations. Villanelle kind of doesn't know how to flirt.

Yeah, no words are getting through to him lol. Victor places no value in them, he needs MC to put their money where their mouth is. Taking care of Victor, small tasks and such, is the best way to startle him. MCs would need to be two steps ahead of Victor. He would be beyond lost, he wouldn't know how to respond to being taken care of.

Aliyah is very calculating and guarded with her true emotions. Even if she's surprised she's going to swallow it all down. I only see one and one thing only completely breaking through her walls and that is MC committing themselves to helping free Aliyah of her shackles.

Honestly, even she admits that would be a terrible decision. But who knows ^^?

Rather than shameless flirting or compliments, Nathan's mind would be blown by genuine and heartfelt words. No sugar-coating it either, just an admission from the heart. Finds them cute most of the time, but I think this is pretty much canon despite her like for blood. Is funny: SHE TRIES at least, it comes naturally to her in certain occasions, specially if she gets sassy. Likes stargazing: She can appreciate a moment of peace for activities of this kind with her partner. Persistent about their dreams: All she wanted was for a world where it was easier to live in. She wanted to be loved. I think when she wants something very much, she's good with trying to get it. Spars with her: A bit of adrenaline didn't hurt anyone, and I'm sure Himiko would always love to spar with Ochako of all people. She doesn't want to go out of shape either, just in case. Cooks for/with her: With my headcanons of Himiko lacking attention from her parents since she was very young, I imagined that she actually learnt how to cook stuff for herself, so she would love to cook for Ochako and with her to learn more. Doesn't go easy on her: It's Himiko...she can get unpredictable at times and is pretty direct, so she doesn't always have to go easy on Ochako. Honest: She's all about being honest and not repressing things, so, YEAH. Calls her out on her bad habits: Kind of hand in hand with the checking on her well-being. Even if ironically Himiko has her own bad habits, but she would call out Ochako first before she can be called out on hers. Likes amusement parks: More adrenaline to burn, in a way. Besides, all these things excite Himiko, specially when she didn't have the chance to enjoy places like these too much in her early years. Fights against all odds: Pretty stubborn on her own when she puts her mind to something, I think. Specially after seeing how her last fight against Ochako ended. In my Himiko's case, it also counts that she did what she could to survive after giving her blood to Ochako. Smart: Despite her outside personality she can be very clever. There's a reason why she managed to survive on the streets for a few years on her own, before joining the League of Villains. Never being caught by heroes or the police. Has a nice smile: She started to believe it when Ochako said she has the cutest smile. It's only since then that she's started to smile more genuinely. Likes kids (why it wasn't chosen): Himiko actually has experience with kids because she took care of her younger siblings in the past. HOWEVER, she still has to come to terms with her dislike for younger kids because they remind her of her younger sisters and the fact she was never treated like them. It's complicated. Doesn't mind her being poor: Himiko herself lived on the streets with no money for a few years, so this isn't gonna be a problem with her. She may even give solutions when low on money or when having no money at all because of her survival instincts. Likes outdoor activities: Any excuse to go on a date with Ochako is good. That includes outdoor activities. Himiko usually has a lot of energy to burn. Attentive: She's very sharp for these things, I would say. Very attentive for people she loves, it's in her nature. Ok to be lazy with her: This counts like quality time for Himiko, so she doesn't mind the lazy days either, really. Can put their trust in her: After everything that happened? YEAH, easy one. Himiko can put all her trust in Ochako, the same way she expects Ochako to trust her. Isn't sexist: Himiko hates sexist people, in fact. Would stab if necessary- Expresses their love to her: If there's anything Himiko's good at, it's that she never holds herself back when it comes to show her love for another, so this was an easy one as well! 💉-·-🔪

Sorry that this isn't a starbreaker thing, but one thing I do keep thinking about (and will probably never write) is a fic about what happens in Junior Year from Mazey's perspective. Just because I feel like she'd see so much happening from behind the scenes but there are also so many completely unrelated fires she has to put out, and she doesn't have context for anything, so it's impossible for her to see that there's an evil plot going on.

Also, Jace would try to get on her good side (if for no other reason than she has the ability to fire people now, and Porter gets so many complaints). Mazey's a sweet person, I think she would get along with who Jace pretends to be, and it makes me laugh to think of them as work besties who bond over a shared love of trashy reality TV or something.

So, Mazey Phaedra is a teenager who ran for student president because she thought it'd look good on college applications or whatever, and then she ends up as Acting Principal of Aguefort. Suddenly she has a full-time job on top of being a full-time student. There's a million responsibilities, like making sure all the clerics don't flunk out because they don't have a teacher, and making sure all the teachers who are still there get paid on time, there's probably some legal problems caused by Grix trying to kill a bunch of people at a music festival. And she has to do classroom observations and performance reviews, for all these faculty who are decades older than she is and have more experience than she does and probably don't take too kindly to her critiquing what they're doing. (She's pretty sure that Tiberia Runestaff hates her, at the very least.)

The budget is an absolute mess, and there are line items that are explicitly labeled 'HUSH MONEY' and 'FOR BRIBES', so the school might be breaking more laws than Mazey originally thought. She makes the mistake of opening a drawer in Arthur Aguefort's desk when she's looking for a pen, and some shrieking phantoms burst out and escape through the window. Someone is stealing material components from classrooms and healing potions from the nurse's office, but before she can deal with that, she finds out that a student adventuring party on a quest just caused a diplomatic incident in the Baronies that might destabilize the entire region, and the Council of Chosen is pissed. Jawbone is saying that way more kids are stressed out than normal and maybe the school could use a second counselor, because for the first time since he's been working there, his diary is entirely booked up, he now has a waiting list for kids to talk to him. Which, great idea, she'll just have to see if they can afford to hire someone else. Then there's a member of the Council of Chosen absolutely hounding her about shapeshifters and a girl named Wanda Childa, and Mazey has to argue against some pretty extreme surveillance measures. And then, there's talk of a Rat City under the school and when she mentions getting an exterminator in to deal with that, the druid teacher is all over her case about how the rats aren't hurting anyone. Except. You know. The structural foundation of the school.

But hey, at least she has a Vice Principal to help her with all this stuff. And Jace really does his best to talk her through all of her new responsibilities and explain what's going on, and he's kind and he's patient and he seems to be genuinely remorseful that she has been put in this situation. It really should be his job to do all this stuff, but his contract forbids him from doing it because Aguefort never changed the rules after Kalvaxus died. And Jace seems just as frustrated about that as Mazey is. But he's not frustrated at her, like some of the other teachers are. He doesn't talk down to her like the new cleric teacher does. She is so unbelievably stressed out and overwhelmed, and he seems genuinely understanding, and acts like he genuinely wants to help. So of course she warms up to him.

She still has classes during the day so a lot of her Principal stuff gets done after hours, and Jace ends up staying late to help out more often than not. She finds out that Jace and Porter are together when Porter shows up to give Jace a lift home. And honestly, finding out those two are dating is the most boring revelation that there's been all year.

One evening, while they're going through the stupid number of emails she's getting from the Council of Chosen and everyone else, Jace points out the fact that Mazey does have the authority to change the rules about what Vice Principals can do. She could make it so that he can take some of this stuff off her plate. She could even fully remove the rule that stops Vice Principals from being able to take over as the actual Principal. Which is so tempting. She considers it, she even almost does it, but then she decides that she's an Aguefort student and she's supposed to rise to an occasion, not just give up, so she commits to staying in the job until the year is over. She does hand over a few admin-type tasks, and things get a bit easier.

Every now and again there's a meeting that really can't be done outside of office hours and it clashes with a bard class she really wanted to be in, so she asks Jace to attend it on her behalf. And she realises later that he should have been teaching his own class at that time. When she checks, she finds out that he was teaching a class during that meeting. Somehow he was in two places at once.

She asks him about it and he gets this kind of panicked look on his face before admitting there're a couple of clones of him running around the school, helping him out with stuff. Which. Can he teach her how to make one of those?? That would help so much! He can't, it turns out. He tries but neither of the two spells he mashed together to make it work are bard spells, and she can't seem to map what he's saying onto her own style of magic. Still. She appreciates the fact that he tried.

TL;DR, Mazey has the most hectic, chaotic year of her life, during which time she is fully convinced Jace is the nicest person ever. And then a few months later he tries to kill her.

I also think it's very sweet that Dewey is his older brother in it! I'd love to see more about their backstory together at some point too!! I love thinking about the small things like... how long did it take for Till to warm up to Isaac? What kind of brother was Dewey to Till as they grew up? When did Hyuna get introduced into their life?? Little details like that would be so cool to know!!

I'm not sure how much of their backstories I'll include in the story, since I do prefer the "show not tell" approach, so I'm going to apologize in advance for rambling a little about them in here :3c

Dewey is 7 years older than Till. Their father was a POS who said he "traveled a lot for work" but he was actually just keeping a second family in Japan, his home country (which means Dewey and Till are half Japanese, mostly because AKUGETSU, Till's VA, does a lot of covers of Japanese songs). Dewey practically raised Till himself, and moved out as soon as he was 18; Till was too young to move out, but he spent most of his time after-school at Dewey's house, since their mother was either too overbearing or not present to the point of leaving Till at 12 to make his own food.

Till really disliked Isaac when he and Dewey started hanging out! He was 15, at the height of teenage angst, and he was worried Dewey's new cool friend would make Dewey leave him behind, like a lot of Dewey's exes did. Luckily for him, Isaac actually loves kids, and sat down with Till to help him with school and other things, which also meant Introducing him to Hyuna, who was 18 at the time, and Isaac's childhood friend.

Isaac is actually a firefighter!! He met Dewey at the community center when Dewey was looking for cheap places to buy food, since he used most of his money to buy things for Till, lol. He fell in love at first sight with the tough motorcycle guy who took care of his little brother, and helped Dewey get into a better place in life to confess, which took around 2 years of dancing around one another.

Hyuna actually isn't as close to Till, she's got her own stuff going own, but she's always there if need be, and she was super happy when Till started streaming.

*He laughs at EVERYTHING.. especially fart jokes, boy loves them. He swore he heard Tatum fart once, so every time he tries to retell the story, he can barely talk and breathe from laughing too much.

*Movie nights are basically you watching some movie he put on and listening to his loud snoring. If you wake him, he pretends he was watching.

*He chews loudly, Billy swears it's only to get on his nerves, but you believe he's just a loud chewer.

*He has a crush on everyone. You smile at him... Crush, you actually know his name... major crush

*He doesn't drink a lot. He will drink a beer or two, but alcohol doesn't really have an effect on him, so he just does it socially. He often just pretends to have a buzz to get attention

*Isn't allowed to order the pizza anymore after the big Anchovies fiasco, he knew the guy who ran their favorite pizza joint, so he paid him to load the pizzas up with 3 times the amount of Anchovies. The smell made Tatum sick, and she ended up vomiting when he licked a slice.

*He's no longer able to babysit his niece and nephew after he told them the story about Victor the Snallygaster, who eats children from their feet up, leaving just their teeth so their parents can still collect the money from the tooth fairy. When they went to bed that night, it turns out Victor was under their bed. Their parents couldn't get them to sleep on their own for 2 weeks.

One thing before I do tho, that this might change later on mattering from how the next 2 books will be when they come out (not like I'm gonna really remember my choices, so probably will replay and deviate from how I did originally in most things), but overall it shouldn't really, just wanna let my Sidestep actually have a happy life after what happened and be able to heal <:D

Also this is going to be long from what I have written so far, way more than I expected, but hope it's alr :D

(It probably has spoilers in there, but tried to not say too much to make sure anyone reading won't be getting the full picture, till they get there. Also edited it, so it has a cut, cause realised that it might take up more space in searches than I want it to)

-Her name is Tiaxy Draconic (based on my sona since I like to have her in any kind of interactive book story to see what can happen with her and to enjoy the story a bit more personally), a gal with white skin, longer braided blond hair and green eyes, who is a seasoned tech-savy tactician, that becomes very conflicted by the events retribution towards her own self, her villain persona, puppet, life and emotions overall making things more complicated than ever,

-Big sweet toothed telepath, favourite sweet specifically is cheescake!

-Her villain name is Tiamat, based on the goddess and looks somewhat like what they designed for her in the game Smite (Overall my sona herself is connected in a way to the goddess in her own lore outside of the books, so seemed most fitting to make it her villain self's armor), but made to fit the story a bit better, other than with the armor having an expressive face on the helmet, which can show her emotions well enough when she wants it to that can be controlled with cams inside the head aimed at her face and with through the ui. The armor itself wouldn't be exactly like the book describes, being apart, but together, like the power armor in fallout (much more to my liking for what I'm imagining an armor of hers is). It's in the terrifying category with speed, jet boost and telepathy enhancing, helping to keep the "no hit record" alive and well enough that she only got hit majorly once, she isn't planning to get hit majorly anymore even if the armor can take it,

-Main motivation as a villain is justice and truth on the other side and she is an anarchist in the 1st playthrough, mattering from which I like, might switch to another (not really into the politics, but doesn't mean I didn't like punting a guy in one of the later missions tho),

-Her base is an abandoned office building (or whatever it was, can't remember the exact name atm), she refurbished it enough to live there, making sure her armor is close enough by for easy access, old apartment wasn't bad though, she lived well enough, manipulating rich peeps to give her their money, funding her life easily, puppet stayed above the apartment after she moved though,

-As a villain, she isn't trying to kill anyone, atleast any civilians (anyone else will get punted if they are in the way), knows they aren't the problem and tries to show the truth to them and to overall everyone, trying to plant doupt where it needs to be present, even if it's naive at that time, her goals are overall heroic rather than villanious,

-She might pretend a lot, masking as she had always done in fear of being seen and recognised, she is trying/starting to be more positive and genuine towards the end, not by much, but it's way bigger difference then in rebirth with her being very antisocial, it might bite her later though, like before, but hopefully can get out of trouble in the next books,

-Says she doesn't want to keep her friends, yet does, doesn't wanna interact with them, yet does and runs into them by accident a lot, doesn't want to love anyone, yet again does and says things she says she didn't actually want and why did she even do so, for example, she agreed to get together with Herald when she didn't exactly plan to, surpising even her own self and ofc making Herald very happy (he is too much of a positive influence on her, both physical and mental, and she couldn't say no, even tho she thinks she wanted to, she didn't, she can't deny it >:]),

-She overall knows something is wrong with her, broken (literally, yknow yknow when), and instead of keeping the destructive habits, tries to get herself together proper and tries to heal, as well as her own self allows and is able of course, and even tries to accept herself somewhat even if it's very hard, she agreed to see the therapist too by Ortega's wishes and recommendation in rebirth and didn't push them away too much in retri, didn't reveal too much either, but wasn't overall hostile, so didn't really regret it that much compared to when she agreed to it and said it helped some,

-Nightmares are still plenty regardless of change (which I hope will change later and she actually can get sleep, cause my god she needs it, every sidestep needs to have a good night sleep),

-As mentioned, she is starting to accept herself, so she is starting to use her puppet a bit less after 2 years and deciding to start going by herself more to wherever she needs to be or mainly in armor rather most of the time though,

-Speaking of the puppet, his name is Jake a white skinned, green eyed, black and green wild haired guy, who got together with Ortega in rebirth and are eternally flirting in retri, which is still the case by the end,

-Puppet met Ortega while boxing, getting some emotions out, they train whenever they can,

-As herself, she became Herald's coach, which was the extent she wanted the connection be, but things took a turn for possibly better than expected,

-Became even more friendly friends by retri with Steel, Ortega, Herald (ofc, who wouldn't) and Mortum through her puppet (broke my heart through the first playthrough tho of retri when Tia gave him the gun as herself and decided it's as good as of a time to tell him something very important [I never regretted anything more in my life, physical and mental damage irl that I didn't think was possible ;-;], hoping tho that it won't bite me later and actually be agood thing),

-Since she unintentionally (def intentionally, even if she doesn't realise) got closer with most of the rangers (other than Argent, they are netrual since rebirth), they all noticed something up with her and always ask "are you okay?", which she at the 4th time was like "why is everyone keep asking me this???", which was honestly pretty funny, getting asked so many times if she is, ofc she isn't, but she won't gonna say it just yet (she did admit it a bit though, with Ortega in rebirth, he did recommend the therapist for a reason),

-Spoon is still the best thing that happened interms of animal interactions, she enjoyed her time with Steel there a ton,

-Would absolutelly be a cat person, if she didn't know better, wouldn't mind a dog either (she needs a therapy dog by the end, I swear, hoping and praying here [even if that doesn't happen, rat king might be better for that purpose for Sidestep specifically]),

-Other than the rangers and a select few, she isn't fond of people regardless of how much change she goes through, that won't change, antisocial all the wayyy babbbyyyy other than friends ofc,

-Compared to rebirth, she calmed down a lot more from the high of her villain self's deput, still that doesn't mean she isn't excited to go and be the villain whenever the time comes, that's still exciting regardless, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have her doubts about wether or not it is truly the right path she decided upon after everything,

-Likes rainy days and water overall. Likes to just watch rainfall from her room, esp likes it when it pours. It's somehow pretty terapeutic just watching and listening to the rain fall. Whenever she is able, she does go to the beach to listen to the waves,

-Likes to wear an almost fully black coat, which is just a very dark shade of blue, likes the fact it is long and almost reach the ground, under it a light blue shirt, with long dark purple pants and formal-ish shoes that are made to make sure she can walk on wet and otherwise problematic surfaces without any trouble, and she wears white gloves.

And I think that's it atm, can't remember more from the top of my head and I think this is plenty for now anyways, I wrote down a lot more than I expected to have! Hopefully this can give a bit more inside into my darling Sidestep, since I'm an artist, I might even draw them depending on if I can stick with what I'm drawing and not just put it on the shelf for later, yknow yknow gjjfj.
