So… do you ship Gavin with anyone *cough* Nines *cough* or do you prefer platonic content of Gavin?
I'm gonna be so real with you. My entire exposure before playing DBH was Reed900 fics and the Decharts streaming on twitch (where i heard "28 stab wounds!").
So I'd read lots of fics and that's why I love Chris so much honestly. He's such a good guy! I love straight wingman Chris to his volatile friend who has a crush on an android but was in denial. But yeah my main experience was people putting a guy with minimal (angry) screen time and a guy with no spoken lines in romantic settings.
I love platonic relations though... so that's been the more prominent feature in my art as I adjust and learn how to draw the cast!
I also have a lot of ideas for Gavin and other DPD crew/Nines interacting. I just haven't had energy sadly! They're written down for later!
And fun fact: I've been told it's basically my brand to have mutual pining as a defining relationship trait. Guess what I like about Reed900. It's the fact a lot of fics are catering to me and mutual pining. They've catered to me since before I played the game.
#moe talks a lot#not art#detroit become human#my curse of being a freak for side characters is so strong#like nothing against the protags but...#gestures to simon my beloved followed by chris gavin nines#and its a curse im used to by this point#i just want to draw side characters can that be my thing#like honestly do you know how funny it is that i thought chris was just present and well liked#bc hes always in gavin related fics! hes there hes a good bean!#and then if you look at specifically Chris Miller fics most of them are#actually just him vibing in Reed900 fics#like if that's his fate i love him for it#when i get energy you guys.... when i have energy...#unfortunately time for bed now but i get three days off soon!#i dont like reading fics for stuff ive played or games ive watched#but ill gladly read for games I've never played!#then i finally played it and here i am... drawing my silly lil side loves#if this is incoherent im on sleep aids and theyre def kicking in

I think Capcom should just remake the first two DMC games instead of DMC6 at the moment. While the first two dmc games aren't bad, it would be great to see those games repolished with new gameplay, more cutscenes, removing the issues with both games. I wouldn't even mind a remake for DMC3 if it gave us playable Lady story moments.
I can't help but feel like we're going to wait another 10 years for DMC6.
#maby their working on the anime? I do think remakes feel necessary for at least first two dmc games#and after that itsuno can just cater to nero and vergil fans about future games - I truly think dante should sit out from the series if#his character is just be a prop for both nero and vergil because he was only dmc5 to set their arcs up and#I feel like people are acting like dante is a side character when he's the protag of his own series?#I have nothing against giving the mantle to nero - I would wish dmc5 did this in a better way then giving me bland plot#if dante isn't getting focus then he just leave or retire and that's honestly that at this point#admin post

still thinking about my ideal horror game
#random thoughts#horror#okay so i love it when characters who you initially assume are good are actually bad people#so i would love it if the protag of a game were doing their first big hangout with a friend group they're new to#maybe the mc just moved to town and one of the people in the friend group is their cousin or smth#so you don't know anyone that well and they seem like decent folk#except when you get into the horror situation it's revealed that they're all extremely bad people#like maybe one tries to sacrifice you to save themself#some of them are cheating on each other. some of them are bigoted. just a lot of bad traits which are revealed#i have this image in my head of a scene#where one of the main characters is the older brother of someone in the friend group#and he's there because he's the only one who can drive and he's not close to the friend group at all#and he's like the classic bad boy bully with his own circle of friends he hangs out with#and if you make specific choices he'll eventually pull you aside#which you initially think is in a 'oh no i pissed him off and got the bad end' way#but in reality he's like 'okay so i think you're actually pretty decent so here's a head's up'#'those guys over there - don't look at them look at me act like i'm chewing you out - they're bad people. don't trust anyone.'#and then he shoves you against a tree in a huff and walks back over to the group like nothing happened#leaving them all to think he was trying to intimidate you and be an ass#and at that point in the game it's like. is he fucking with you? he has to be right?#im thinking the choices you make to get that scene are when you stand up for other people when he specifically is poking fun at them#like you see everyone else is too uncomfortable to take a stand against him but YOU do. and he respects that

Bloodline of the Sacred Dragons - Chapter 1-1
[Read from the start]
Chapter 1: The white Sacred Dragon of Dragonia
Besides the little birds chirping, something else made a noise. Or maybe he had just imagined it.
One way or the other, Bleu didn't care. So he didn't even turn to check what it was.
Besides the sounds in the wind, he had his voice inside his own head. There was no reason to use it out loud. Because he had no one to talk to.
He was the last survivor of the Sacred Dragons, no one else of his tribe remained. He was very well used to being alone.
All he wanted was some peace and quiet, and time had given him more than he asked for. A quiet life of indulging in books. It was a tranquility that most people had trouble to associate with a wild dragon.
For some time now, Bleu had been entertaining himself with pen and paper. As if trying to draw feelings he could not put into words. Eventually, he grew tired of it and returned the pen to its inkwell.
He had always kept the habit of writing on his diaries, though he took breaks from it at times. So long had him been writing them that the volumes filled a couple of his shelves. But lately, there had been many days like this one, where there was nothing to write about. How long had this gone on for? It shouldn't be that hard to remember.
To relax his back after sitting on the stool for so long, he stretched his long neck, turning it all the way to his back. To his surprise, he saw a girl, looking upside down due to his position.
"Bleu."
Breaking the silence as she called his name, the human girl wrapped her slender arms around his neck.
Bleu just barely avoided to fall off the stool like a klutz, and was grateful for that small blessing. With his strong neck he pulled the girl up as he fixed his posture, and then turned around on the stool.
"It's you, Karin." A name he was very used to say. "When did you come in?"
The tall girl, who reached up to Bleu's shoulders, looked up at him brightly. The hunter clothes were a good fit for her strong and graceful body. To come to Dragonia, she certainly had to cross fields and the forest. Bleu gently picked out the dead leaves entangled in her hair with the tips of his claws.
Sacred Dragons were big, but not gigantic. Unlike other inferior dragons, they walked on two legs. When it came to height, a human's head usually reached up to the base of their wings.
"Don't surprise me like that," said Bleu. "Geez. You haven't dropped this habit of hugging me either," he complained a bit, not wanting to be treated like a kid forever.
"Oh, it's your fault for not noticing even as I entered the room. I can't picture you having been once in that Shining Force," she replied with a slight pout.
Shining Force, the army of light that once saved the whole continent of Rune. Bleu had been a member of it, but it was merely a title of the past to him. Hearing the name made the tip of his nose itch. Besides, he didn't expect Karin to bring it up.
She pulled away from him while stroking his neck, and turned away. Her light brown hair, tied up in a single ponytail, made a swift arc with the motion. Inside the quiver on her back, over her leather clothes, a bunch of arrows clacked in disarray.
"Oh, right. I shot down a copper pheasant on the way here. We can make a great stew for dinner with it."
Linking her arms behind her back, she gave a glance over her shoulder, suddenly making a cute face. Then she ran away without waiting for Bleu to reply.
"A stew, does that mean you want to stay over again?"
Bleu made a dejected face just from thinking of the time and work it would take to prepare the meal. It would be night by the time they finished, wouldn't it?
"You don't want me to go back alone to Rudo at midnight, do you? Besides, there's plenty of rooms so you don't have an excuse," she answered, already out of sight.
Good grief. In his head, Bleu waved a white flag.
Karin came to visit once a month, from the village of Rudo in the west. The very picture of liveliness, this human girl was someone Bleu couldn't go against. His power was far superior, yet when it came to words he had yet to win even once.
As a kid, he had grown up among Karin and the other children of Rudo. Daughter of the village chief, Karin was, then and now, Bleu's only friend. Childhood friends, if you could apply the expression for a human girl and a dragon child.
When the demon army assaulted Dragonia, Karin again was the only one to come after the Shining Force and help him. She worried more about him than the danger she could face. That's why Bleu joined the Shining Force to protect her.
Even once he returned after the end of the war, with her fearless nature, Karin continued to be like a big sister in his life, in both age and spirit.
The changes she would bring into his life showed him that time never stands still. Any moment with her was noisy, hectic, and full of energy. Bleu liked all these sides of her.
He let out a deep breath that wasn't quite a laugh nor a sigh.
Closing the diary he had been working on, he got up from the stool quietly.
Eventually, their late dinner was ready.
They ate face to face with each other as usual, the bowl of stew on the dinner table between them.
"Krin comes back tomorrow."
Karin brought up the topic suddenly, looking up to meet Bleu's face.
"Really? Krin, that walking encyclopedia?" Bleu asked back, jerking his head up from the glass of wine he had been drinking. With the harsh movement, the wine in the glass spilled onto the table and his jaw.
"Hey, watch it. You've always had such terrible manners."
Karin got up from her chair, and wiped Bleu's mouth with a cloth.
"Stop it, we're not kids anymore, isn't this embarrassing?"
While clearly ashamed and displeased, Bleu stood perfectly still. Perhaps that was more of a reflex than a habit.
"Nobody's watching. Besides, I used to do this always back when you were a baby."
When he was just a newborn, Bleu's mother could not produce milk, so the people of Rudo fed him cow and goat milk in her place. Karin insisted that she had done it a bunch of times. Bleu didn't believe her, because she was only three years old back then. She must have been making it up. Whenever he contested it, she would start giving a bunch of details on how things were back then. Since he had no memories to compare, it was always his loss.
Not putting up with that, he tried to get back on topic. "So, about Krin coming back."
"Right, right, that."
Karin sat back on her chair.
"I heard that she went to Manarina to study magic. But she's finally coming back then."
Bleu let his mind wander to memories of Karin's younger sister. While Karin was the amazon running through hills and fields with a bow in hands, Krin was the opposite, a bookworm. The sisters were a perfect split of introvert and extrovert.
Krin was the one who looked for accurate accounts of the Manual within old books. Her knowledge had been praised even by Advisor Nova of Guardiana. Currently, she knew more about the Manual than Bleu himself. After all, he hadn't had any chance to see it, as it had been sealed within a shrine until Darksol stole it.
"Of course, you're coming with me to welcome her back."
Bleu wanted to say she was springing this on him too suddenly, but she had her hands clasped together, and her lips stretched a bit.
"Right…" he answered, a bit hesitant. He had no problem with seeing Krin. However, to do that he'd have to leave for Rudo Village.
"Krin actually asked for you to come. She said she has something important she wants to tell you directly."
"Oh, and what's that?"
"She said that in a letter brought by a carrier pigeon from Uranbatol, and nothing else. Seems to be something she wants to say face to face. Honestly, does that girl have no faith in her own sister?"
Karin sulked, and Bleu laughed as he tried to cheer her up.
"It's Krin, she might have been worried that the letter could get in other people's hands. Which means it must something really important. Guess I have no choice…"
"No choice?" Karin's reply sounded just a little bit angry.
"No, no, I'm also happy to come along," he added, laughing like a fool. His words were only half true.
Thus, Bleu left the land of Dragonia for the first time in years. It was the start of a new journey.
To next part>
Translation notes:
Bleu's mom also used to write diaries, which you can find in game.
The idea of Sacred Dragons being the superior dragons has been around before. Neither of these texts acknowledge dragonewts though, who are also bipedal. I'm unsure if they are being excluded on purpose or if the writers just forgot.
Now, the elephant in the room. Karin's appearance:

This does not look like a brown haired girl with hunter clothes, bow, quiver and hair in a ponytail to me. Not even close. There might have been some wack miscommunication between writing and illustrating the novel.
The ponytail description is slightly closer to her NPC sprite, not that it matters much since it's been ten years and this is somewhat generic sprite shared between the whole Important Little Girl Trio.
She also has a ponytail in the GBA version, though that's likely a coincidence, as this seems fully based on the original sprite, and I've already seen Krin's description in the next part, it has nothing to do with her GBA incarnation. I still have to bring all of this up to laugh back at the good old days where I boldly declared the novel had given her a proper design.
(While we're nitpicking, Bleu's eyes also seem to be red in the cover, are he did not have a striped belly in the original game.)
#shining series#shining force#shining force novel translation#bloodline of the sacred dragons#sf bleu#sf karin#sf krin#anyway i'm still skeptical of the romance but i do enjoy the writing a lot#the characters play off each other well and you do feel the intimacy#it's very cozy and lively#my skepticism is solely about will bleu's clear issues actually get addressed#or does he just have to put up with it all and Be The Hero Get The Girl Make Babies#i have some spoilers that make me believe it does get addressed but i wanna see how believable the development is#my expectations for m/f romance are not even on the floor okay they're on the depths of hell#i have nothing against karin herself though she's a girlboss dipshit and it's funny#bleu is just in too sad a position for me to enjoy her near him#i hope both get to interact with more people#also it's very interesting to see bleu as a protag i legit can't think of anyone better from the first game#because he has to have the hollower ending of all them#like yay we beat darksol! guardiana is rebuilt! but what about him who's gonna rebuild his life#the only people who remain in his life are people who simultaneously put him in a pedestal and also boss him around somehow#i am very sad. i hope this grows into something better than just 'they make some babies and now there's dragons again'#long post

Wooly is an enabler. He might not be the one directly hurting Amanda/Rebecca but he keeps sabotaging her and helping Hameln control her. He actively discourages her from going against rules, he tries to railroad her. He gets annoyed when she doesn't act like the compliant little puppet Hameln would want her to be.
I think nothing demonstrates how little Wooly actually cares about Amanda as opposed to the "role" she's supposed to play than the "When You Feel Bad" tape.
Amanda is down in the dumps, so Wooly, nervous because the show needs a protag to do stuff and he's the sidekick so he can't fill that role, keeps trying to get her to go on any sort of adventure even when Amanda makes it clear she just wants to be left alone.
When Wooly tells his little knight and princess story he doesn't really care that Amanda doesn't like it, even gets snippy and dismissive of her when she tells him this story is doing nothing to lift her spirits. At the end of the story Amanda still feels bad, but Wooly doesn't even acknowledge that.
When Riley tells the story Amanda wants to hear, Wooly again gets pissy and demands Riley tell his story, even though Amanda is visibly happier with Riley making stuff up. Notice how in Riley's re-write, we have a narrator telling the story instead of Wooly. I think that's Sam. Wooly realizes Riley is steering Amanda away from Hameln and towards her former memories as Rebecca by invoking Sam. And he doesn't like that.
So long story short, Wooly isn't Amanda's friend. He's her Hameln-assigned handler. He could care less about her feelings as long as she does as she's told.

Why Aren't The Hornsent NPCs Named? An Essay On The Challenge for Compassion

So easy answer. Neither our pal in the Miquella Brigade nor the Grandam actually tell their names to us. Case closed!
No no no but more like, why didn't the DEVELOPERS choose to let us know them by name? A whole chunk of The Point is that the hornsent are people too, right? So why would we not even get to know our two (mostly just one, even, as you're not likely to even find grandam) hornsent ambassadors' actual names?
Fromsoft did something similar to this in Armored Core 6 just recently. That game is PLAINLY all about the horrors of capitalism, colonization and war, albeit almost all of your time is spent not with the resistance, but with the companies trying to tear the planet apart for fuel. Your protag's motivations aside, the RLF, Rubicon Liberation Front, are hardly given any narrative ambassadors to you at all; your Rubiconian partner pleads with your on some occasions, but otherwise the emphasis is elsewhere. Their liaison with their organization isn't even named. You don't even get to MEET most of their ranks until the secret third route, and even then, half the time that's just when you're fighting against said individuals as opponents. So...
Fromsoft is unique in that they often don't spoon-feed you "this is right" and "this is wrong". By no means do they ever seem to say colonization and slaughter is correct, and in fact the very crux of the plot is in grappling with the justifications. BUT, you are placed directly in the role of the oppressors' side. All around you are people you will grow to respect, and fight alongside, and they will also help you tear down this planet if you choose that route. You do, very much so, have to FIGHT and CHOOSE to aid the people of Rubicon, even if it hurts. Even if it means fighting, abandoning and even killing the people who have been by your side. And I think that's much more realistic to many real-life experiences than just "starting out on the right side".
Back to Elden RIng and the hornsent, though. Grandam is found only under very specific circumstances, within a single location, and within a small time window of the game. You step out of that window? You lose her completely, including the lore she had, and the means with which to understand better the hornsent. Why? Why would Fromsoft even implement her, if it's that hard to even reach her words?
And again, I think it's... realistic. You, the Tarnished, are a human along Marika's progeny, barring your own personal character lore. You are a human and you are part of the race that had slaughtered the hornsent. Of COURSE the hornsent themselves aren't going to trust you, spoonfeed you WHY you should care about them. Shouldn't you care already about the pain and suffering of others? Why WOULDN'T you? If it's that hard to come to grips with the horrors Your Kind caused, then maybe you're no better.
And I think. The story wants to challenge you like that, past gameplay, past feeding you their intent directly. You have to SEEK OUT the answers and THINK. Is it truly justified to slaughter a whole race? Was this truly right? Should I think of these individuals as people, or as monsters?
Hornsent (NPC) is also a very interesting choice. Not only is he the only hornsent you're actually likely to find and speak with, but he actively hates your guts. Soon as the charm is off, even, he's back on his path of vengeance. He says time and time again, he's nothing more than this mission to Get Back on those responsible. Wouldn't the devs want to make you weep for someone far more pitiable, far more palatable?
Well, if you bother paying attention to him enough, and aid the man in his questline, you'll understand then that he's someone who lost his whole family to Messmer's crusades. Mother, wife, child, in addition of course to the innumerable others slaughtered. Is that not enough to want all-consuming vengeance? Wouldn't YOU want people dead because of that? Regardless, even, of whether or not he was even a perpetrator of the original jar slaughters (and I've seen enough feasible evidence against that)... Is he not pitiable enough for that alone?
To you, he is just a Hornsent. To he himself, the man is a Hornsent, likely a title he wears both in defiance, as well as the only scrap of identity he has left. His people were killed because they were Hornsent. His family was killed because they were Hornsent. Would you even ever see him as anything else? Would it matter, even, if he HIMSELF has nothing else?
And, clearly, if you've been seeing anything anywhere in the fan discussions: this challenge to Think is lost on many people. Some people, somewhat understandably, take these aspects as Fromsoft caring little about the hornsent at all, and claiming them as The Original Evils within their own story. Others don't even bother to take anything not fed to them, and claim that the slaughter of hornsent was duly justified, and that this is undeniably supported within the game. But even barring the consistent themes of dichotomies, dualities, and the cycles of abuse ever-present throughout the game-- yeah, I'd say a good deal of reflection could and should be found in the self, first. Who are YOU when challenged for this compassion, first?

Hi everyone I have a manga reccomendation for u today !! It has skyrocketed into being one of my personal favorites, and if u give it a chance it might be yours too, oooo you wanna read it soo baddd
The manga in question is "Yakuza Reincarnation," or "Yakuza Princess of Another World" and you can read it on mangadex for free with no ads right [HERE]
My own summary of the manga:
An old yakuza man with a surprisingly strong sense of justice dies and finds himself awakening as a beautiful princess— mid murder attempt in the woods. He beats his way out of it, then continues to beat his way through further problems he finds himself dumped into, only to find out that... the princess he's supposed to be is still in the castle? And he, now she, has been labeled an imposter to be hunted and killed.
Not to be outdone, there's also the very real threat of the demon king looming on the horizon— with demons around every corner, doing everything from imitating top ranking humans to dabble in some light human crimes against humanity, to straight up waltzing into a town to massacre it.
Our protag does literally nothing to hide the fact that he's a yakuza. Not in his body language not in his actual language not in his anything. He goes around brutally beating demons to death and threatening people pushing drugs as his loyal old man knight and elf mage stand nervously behind him going "p-princess, please!" and it is wonderful.
The magic system in this world is genuinely one of the most interesting and impressive things I've seen in a while. It's very simple but finds new fascinating ways to be used what feels like every other chapter, with their magic being literally tied into their veins and body as it's own organ
There's a lot of underlying, unadressed gender fuckery (which, tbh, tends to be my favorite) where our old, male protag ends up in a young girls body and... doesn't actually seem to care that much? He continues to reffer to himself as a he, and shows no outward signs of discomfort of his new projected gender. There's also a lot of implied gayness in the fact that this guy is very much popular with women, and it's never treated as any sort of joke, and honestly? I just love that
The manga balances having our yakuza princess be genuinley OP and blasting her way confidently through threats left and right, but also having what feels like very real and genuine threats looming in the distance very well. Between the demon king and his spawn and whatever the fuck is happening within the royal family, there's a lot of great intrigue to be poked at
The characters who show up are so memorable and charming, I have my favorites but honestly there's a good selection to choose from bc most of these guys are just damn interesting. The relationships are SO good, there are a couple fun ships to find here and this manga has me genuinely shipping a straight ship for the first time in a while. (Loki is amazing and if u let urself love him u too will understand his indescribable idiot charm,,,)
The art is also. Just. Beautiful. Showstopping. Amazing. Here are some of my favorite spreads:
Anyways, go read Yakuza Reincarnation. You will not regret it.
#yakuza reincarnation#yakuza princess#yakuza princess of another world#manga#manga rec#anime#yakuza#birds rambles#birds fic recs#kinda not really but Ill use the tag anyways

One.
Let's start from the beginning... We'll learn a little bit about the protag and where her experience with the previously-dead but currently-undead begins.
No smut...yet. :) We're just getting started, of course!
I stared out the window at the Atlanta city skyline, the events from earlier in the day replaying through my mind like a reel - over and over. The news had been going crazy over the last couple of weeks with talk about people coming back from the dead, with cell phone videos of what had been deemed ‘the walking dead.’ These were people who had supposedly died and were now eating the living - people, animals, anything with a heartbeat - and ripping into their flesh. I hadn’t really encountered it—one of the perks of working from home, I guess. I hadn’t seen just how bad things had gotten until now. Today was the first time I’d ventured out of my home because grocery delivery hadn’t been available.
To say I was horrified? That is an absolute understatement.
A couple of my coworkers had told stories in our daily Teams meetings, and I’d always thought they were just stories. But after today I had no doubts that those stories were actual accounts of their experiences.
I looked down at my phone where it sat lifeless on the wooden bath tray and picked it up to check the time. The screen lit up—5% battery, but that wasn’t the problem. No signal. No WiFi. No service. I tapped at the icons, restarted the connection. Nothing. I tried again. Still nothing.
The breath I hadn’t realized I was holding left me in a slow exhale.
This wasn’t just a bad signal.
I let out a breath and pushed the tray away before grabbing the fluffy, charcoal gray towel and standing from the bath water. The thoughts rushing through my mind were many and all of them were equally terrifying. The water began glugging down the drain and I wrapped myself in the towel on the way out of the bathroom, my fingers mindlessly tapping at the phone screen - the efforts fruitless.
A little less than a year ago, I’d picked up my life in the PNW and moved down to Georgia for a job. In the months I’d been here, I hadn’t had the time or energy to dedicate to making friends. I’d opted to stay buried in my work, trying to learn everything I could in order to keep climbing that ladder. And aside from the quiet hum of the air conditioner and the accompanying fan, the silence was something I’d grown accustomed to. I was perfectly fine being a loner. I didn’t need anyone or anything else to keep me going except electricity.
So when I didn’t hear those two very familiar, very specific sounds, my breath hitched.
The silence was too thick, too unnatural.
I moved toward the light switch, heart pounding.
If the power was out, this wasn’t just some storm knocking out a cell tower. This was something worse.
I swallowed the lump that was forming in my throat and closed my eyes as I flipped the switch. Honestly, I didn’t even need to open them to realize that the light hadn’t turned on. There was no question. The power had been shut off, unfortunately not due to something as simple as an unpaid bill. I pressed my forehead against the wall, forcing down the panic rising in my chest. I had no family here. No friends. No one to check on me.
And now, the world was ending.
And I was completely, terrifyingly alone.

Bingo:
These Zuccini corn fritters were a big hit with the picky eater crowd and were so easy to make. They will be happening again.
The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi is SO GOOD! Middle aged mother comes out of pirate retirement to swashbuckle again! I love the way she describes men. Like, girl, we are now both ready to ruin our lives for that beautiful idiot, let's GO
Mutual Aid is a solid, well organized guide for starting and maintaining a mutual aid network and the potential pitfals of various structures. I don't have the experience to say for certain if it all works or not, but there's many citations and whatnot I plan to follow up on eventually.
Braiding Sweetgrass is a mandate against climate doomerism and complacency. Kimmerer has a profound love for nature, her people, her home, all people, all homes, etc. Beautiful listen, very hopeful.
Unapologetic... is like a tumblr post made into an infomercial. Lots of buzzwords, didn't get a whole lot of substance. I think there's lots of good starts, but little delving on those starts. I was disappointed about this one, especially as Mutual Aid was so solid and Braiding Sweetgrass was so beautiful and both made their points so well.
I'm calling @batmanisagatewaydrug the librarian for this because uuuuuuh I can't get recc'd books for fuckshit and Little Rot rocked my world. The non judgment of the narration coupled with the madness of the plot worked really fucking well. 6 queers of varying levels of repression are having 6 different versions of the worst weekend fucking ever ranging from oh no, I broke up with my boyfriend" to "i am literally fighting for my life". It's like watching 6 vehicles converging on the same spot and breakneck speed.
This man cares about nothing and no one and uuuuuuugh (I'm 35% in). Oooooooooooooo fuck i GET IT (i figured i would but oooooooo).
Non-Bingo:
What Moves the Dead started to feel like a dud about halfway through and then I was making fanart for it. Just fully snuck up on me.
Harrow the Ninth is so fucking funny. Just deeply, horribly hilarious and tragic and uuuuugh. YEAH. The madness of the narrator being GIDEON??? Gideon's parents??? FUCK. OBSESSED.
A Darker Shade of Magic could also have gotten the "Rec" slot if i decided Aabria Iyengar was my librarian instead. Charming read, love Lilah, love the dynamic between her and the protag. There's more books that'll I'll be adding to my hold when it has some room.
NONA MY BABY MY DARLING! If there are no more Nona adorers left in the world assume I'm dead because UUUUGH!!! She's so charming and loving and so loved and yeah I had a lot of feelings. The idea of getting to be, for a moment, who you could have been if all the hurt hadn't ever happened, the tragedy of having to go back to who you are after. uuuuuugh!!!!
Another contender for the Rec square because I have @takethesword's physical copy they loaned mea like a decade ago sitting on my shelf. I am looking at it. It's looking at me. Uh, can I please cuddle with a dragon? Laurence is deeply funny, and I love to watch the slow and subtle chipping away of his lordly manners and ways. In my heart he got pegged by Jane Roland.
The Scourge Between Worlds I grabbed on a lark off a list of Black spec fiction writers and WOOOO! Nice romp, doesn't overstay it's welcome, and unlike a few other scifi disaster type stories, the characters all have their priorities in fucking proper order. Great listen, if you like Alien it might be your thing.

Playing the pocky game with the protags girls
A/n:random fun fact, but pockys are called mikados in Italy, and that's really funny to me because every time I eat one, I can't not think about Mikado sannoji from sdra2

Kaede akamatsu (drv3)

"Do you want one?"
Kaede smiles kindly at you as you offer her a strawberry pocky
"Oh no it's fine, it's the last one so it should be yours"
"But you didn't have any, I feel bad now"
"Well, you brought the packet, so I don't think there's anything wrong with that"
"But I wanna do something nice for you, I know you like them, please have it"
"No I want you to have it"
After a bit more arguing you get an idea
"Oh I know how to solve this, we can both eat it"
"...what do you mean?"
"I saw it online look"
You put the stick in your mouth and pointed at the other end, kaede quickly understood what you had in mind and blushed a bit before complying
She started by biting her end of the pocky, and you did the same. When you reached the center, you felt kaede's soft lips, and you kissed her back. She tasted of strawberry even more than usual since she often put on strawberry lip gloss and the taste was amazing to you.
You pulled back and looked at her with a smile as she did the same
"Wow that was......amazing"
"Oh you think so? Me too"
"Yeah I mean your kisses are always amazing so I should have expected that, maybe we should buy pockys more often"
"Hehe, I'd love that"
Sora(sdra2)
"Hey y/n, can you help me with something?"
"Hm? Sure"
You turned back towards your girlfriend's voice and saw sora with a white chocolate pocky sticking out of her mouth
"..........seriously?"
She nods, signaling that she is indeed serious.
You sigh but giggle a bit and start biting the stick, sora smiles and does it too only that she's a bit too impatient and eats basically all the pocky wanting to get to your lips as soon as possible
You roll your eyes at her but give her what she wants, kissing her lips. There's still some white chocolate smudges there that you lick off. After you pull back sora takes a moment to breathe before looking at you while smirking
"If you wanted a kiss you could have just asked for one"
"Isn't it more fun this way?"
"I guess"
Sora smirks even wider and pulls out another pocky from the pack
"I have a lot of them so I can keep going for however long you want, wanna do it again?"
"........fine if you insist"
Teruko tawaki (drdt)

"You wanna use that to kiss?"
Teruko looks at you skeptically as you hold up a matcha flavored pocky
"Yeah,it's this super cute trend that couples do. Basically, you bite the stick, and I do the same until we kiss"
"Can't we just kiss normally, that sounds kinda weird"
"Come on it'll be fun"
She sighs but gives up quickly when she sees how you really want to do this
"Fine"
"Yay"
You take the pocky out of the box and put it on your mouth, closing your eyes in the meantime. Teruko blushes but eventually bites the other end.
The matcha taste hits her tongue first, but she closes her eyes, waiting for your lips, and when she finally finds them, she brushes her own against them losing herself in the kiss....until she makes a noise and pulls back putting her hand over her mouth
"Ah! Shit!"
"T-teru, what happened? Did I do something?"
"No,no its nothing I just bit my tongue"
"O-oh sorry"
"It's not your fault"
"Yeah, I know, but I was the one to propose this, wasn't I?"
"It's really not your fault ok?"
"......I guess"
The "lucky" student looks at you and sighs seeing you sad, so she takes another pocky from the box and holds it up
"You wanna try again?"
"Really? But won't you get hurt again?"
"Maybe, but I don't care, I'd go through all the pain in the world if it meant I'd get to kiss you"
Akira hayasaka (drhd)
(You might be wondering why she's here even if heartless deceit didn't win, and it's just because I really like her, and it feels wrong to leave her out of the protags girls posts. Is it favoritism? Yes. Do I care? Not really it's my blog my rules)

Akira had asked you to help her film a video for her tik-tok account. This was pretty common because since you started dating, she always wanted to show you off on every social media she has so everyone would know you're both taken
"Alright this looks good, are you ready?"
She says as she finishes putting the phone and the ring light in position
"Yeah, but what are we gonna do anyway?"
"You'll see"
She winks and makes her way to the couch and pulls a packet of berry flavored pockys from her pocket, offering it to you
"Really? The pocky game?"
"Yep, a lot of my fans would love to see us kiss you know? I'm just giving them what they want"
"Are you sure it's not just you?"
"Well, it is definitely also me, but not only, they make edits about us and ship us so much, don't you see all the videos I tag you in?"
".......fair"
"Good"
She takes a pocky out of the packet and taps the phone to start recording. She then holds the purple part in her mouth and points at the other side, waiting for you to bite.
You do just that, and after a while, you feel akira's lips connect with yours, and the instant they do, she grabs your cheek and pulls you closer to her, deepening the kiss even more.
She doesn't let go and wraps her arms around you, making you fall on the couch. You're now fully making out with her on top of you. You keep this position for a few more seconds before akira finally pulls back needing to breathe
"Fuck that was good"
".........y-yeah"
"I don't think we can show this.....not for free at least"
You laugh a bit at her joke, and she stops the recording before grabbing the packet and looking at you smirked again
"Wanna do more takes?"
Sara chidouin (yttd)
"Oh yeah, want a pocky?"
"Sure thing"
"Then take it!"
She suddenly sticks an orange pocky in her mouth while innocently closing her eyes
"..........what?"
She points at the other end of the stick but you don't move so she takes it out of her mouth a bit irritated
"Why didn't you do anything?"
"What was I supposed to do?"
"Bite the other end so we can kiss, you know? The pocky game, ever heard of it?"
"......I guess"
"I saw ryoko and Joe do it, and I thought it was adorable. Sorry for catching you off guard thought I guess"
"No it's fine, should we continue?"
"Definitely"
She puts the stick back in her mouth, and this time, you eagerly take a bite before continuing to eat it, sara finally arrives at your lips and presses them against yours, she moves a bit while continuing and deepening the kiss and hugs you closer to her before pulling back for air
"That felt extra good, not only did I get one of your amazing as always kisses but also a bit of vitamin c"
"I guess so, but your lips always taste sweeter than anything to me"
Sara smiles at you for a while before pulling out another stick and giving it to you
"Now it's your turn to have the orange part, I'll bite the other end ok?"
"Yep sounds good"
"Amazing, I should definitely thank ryoko for the idea"

i can't 8elieve i have to make this
alright so i've had a8solutely enough. i cannot take it anymore. i must speak my mind on the matter. 8ecause i'm going to explode if i keep it in my head any f8cking longer.
deltarune chapter 3+4+snowgrave spoilers a8ound.
KRIS IS NOT UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE SOUL INSIDE OF THEM AND I FEEL INSANE THAT THIS ISN'T THE MAJOR8TY OPINON!
with that inflammatory opening out of the way, allow me to esta8lish the groundwork that this cry of agony into the void disguised as a deltarune theory will 8e oper8ting on.
i want to get this done eventually. may8e even make it concise if i can help it. as such i will not 8e going through deltarune chapters 1-4 8eat 8y 8eat narr8ting my reading of all of this. that would 8e insane and i'm not a youtu8er looking to make a quick 8uck 8y explaining the plot of deltarune.
instead, this will 8e focusing on specifically evidence that runs counter to the idea of kris 8eing controlled 8y the soul inside of them. everyone already seems well enough familiar with the evidence for it.
8y focusing on counter evidence, my only goal here is to show this commonly accepted mindset is at 8est, heavily flawed in specific aspects and working off a lot of assumptions, and at worst is a8out as sound as the idea that gaster's soul is hidden somewhere inside of kris and narr8ting things.
proof OF something is completely meaningless if it has sufficient proof against it. proof against something must 8e met with lest you fall into the dangers of "friend inside me" theorizing where you do nothing 8ut try to justify a pre-existing idea you already had.
now that all that is out of the way, lettuce get into my disconnected series of points as i remem8er them:
first major point: THE SOUL'S actual influences.
so i must conceed. whatever the soul is, whoevers ever it is. whether chara or frisk or whoever the protag of undertale yellow is or kris or the player, regardless of who they are they have genuine non-normal interactions with at least two people around them that is commented on 8y those people. non-normal meaning unique to the soul.
susie and noelle.
susie and noelle have 8oth commented on what the "influence" of the soul is like.
on susie's end we have the moment in chapter 1 when she is escaping jail. she comes to the cross roads and wonders where she should go. the prompt then comes up saying go left or go right. no matter what you pick, susie reacts the same way. she comments that it sounded like kris said something.
now, on its own. this doesn't inherently mean anything. may8e susie is just thick headed enough she reacts this way. 8ut then we get to noelle.
she comments on how she just "has to keep doing as kris says" and the a8ove screen shot "as long as i just do what they say" as the soul has picked multiple times for her to do ice shock. it implies that to the other characters, in 8attle what the soul does registers as kris telling them to do things.
i wish i had a screenshot of it on hand, so you'll unfortun8tly have to take my word on this. 8ut in the 8erdly fight, if kris goes down noelle makes the comment "i can still hear their voice." confirming that in 8attle, the actions you take in the menus registers to the other party mem8ers as telling them to do things.
an extra detail in this is noelle, despite 8eing in trance due to the thornring, says no at first and the game prompts you to pick a different option.
implying that anyone at any moment, realistically speaking, can reject the soul's suggestions. further showing that the influence the soul possesses when it comes to other individual living people is 8asically talking to them.
this is enough to convince me personally on this topic point, 8ut don't worry. i have one more thing.
snow grave chapter 4
in snowgrave chapter 4, noelle reacts to you picking the option "please don't" as if kris said that. to which she then rationalizes to herself "i mean, i know you didn't say anything, 8ut..." implying she registered a response, 8ut recognized kris themself didn't say anything.
these three moments culmin8 into my first point of contention with "soul control" theory as i have decided to call it just right this moment. for all intents and purposes, as descri8ed 8y the game, the influence the soul has into making people make decisions is merely telling them to do something.
it could perhaps 8e a pestering, annoying nuisance at worst that'll never shut up. 8ut it cannot FORCE anyone to do anything. i 8elieve this extends to kris. as there is no reasona8le evidence against it.
this alone, is not enough for a full counter argument tho. it is merely one facet of a counter argument. i have at minimum two more points at the time of writing this.
second major point: kris does whatever the f8ck they seem to want.
let's once again, start with chapter 1. a famous moment of express kris characteriz8tion.
kris defends susie without any prompt, or quick time event, or any input from the player. there is no choice given here. kris just does it. this alone shows that, even when the heart is inside of kris, there is at minimum, SOME circumstances in which if the soul has control kris can override it.
this scene shows at 8arest minimum, in an assumedly stressful scenario kris can surpass control if one of their friends are in danger. remem8er this. it's an important tool that'll help us at a l8er d8 in the future. in times elsewhere.
of course, i am speaking in commonly accepted terms that imply the soul is controlling kris. i do not 8elieve this, as you have read. so let us move on to the other pieces of evidence, that expand this to 8e what i 8elieve is ultim8ly another piece of evidence against soul control theory.
the end of chapter 1. a very stark moment. this is o8viously highly painful for kris. the expression, screen shake, and constant damage taken noise indic8s yeah, this is a 8ig hurty. and yet despite this clear pain, kris does it anyway. the soul in this moment, is likely ready for 8ed. as it just chose to go to 8ed. 8ut kris is a8out to go eat some f8cking pie
and the soul in all of this? it can't slip its way out of kris's fingers. implying either kris is strong (8acked up 8y them constantly shaking the screen, slashing tires, making huge thud sounds when they throw stuff at pretty hihg speeds, and the entire hockey stick segment.) or the soul is really weak (8acked up 8y it 8eing repeatedly KO'd 8y kris, the fact it can't move the 8ird cage at all. not even jiggle it around. and can't even lift an angel tree topper off it.) or 8oth (see 8oth examples a8ove.)
knowing the main st8ted given non-specul8tive reason for this is cuz, kris wanted to eat all of the pie toriel made (and this is a regular thing they do, toriel asks if she needs to lock the oven again.)
this throws an instant wrench into the idea that susie 8eing in danger spurred kris to wrench control 8ack from the soul. it seems something as chill and mundane as getting pie allows kris to wrench control from the soul to get a slice (or 8) of some delicious pie. indic8ting it's sort of a thing kris can do whenever.
8ut okay. may8e there's still wiggle room here. the soul could've 8een asleep at the wheel and kris seized the chance to get what they want. there's no reason to 8elieve the soul, player, frisk, etc, wanted susie to get got. and the soul was getting ready for 8ed. perhaps all this is just a result of the soul slacking.
so then the question prompts. what if undia8ly to any reasona8le person, the soul wanted to do something and kris didn't.
(please excuse the watermark, i'm pulling all of these from youtu8e, writing this is hard enough as is and i don't wanna replay all of deltarune 4 times to make my simple points.)
a 8attle of the ages takes place in chapter 4. the soul wants to read what's inside the guitar. and kris does not. kris infact, does everything in their f8cking power to stop the soul from even getting near the guitar.
there is a8solutely no question. the soul wants the guitar or at least wants susie to read the code inside the guitar. and kris 8y all metrics, wants that guitar to remain hidden.
this is something 8oth parties want for assumedly really important reasons. 8oth to save undyne and to not save undyne. and in a 8attle of willpowers. kris wins out easily. not even a struggle. it's painful sure 8ut in terms of actual capac8ty to do it, kris has no real struggles. the only 8enefit the soul has over kris in this whole dilemma is floating out of kris's reach in the closet. and only in the closet.
in a 8attle with the soul, kris wins. kris's will, determin8tion, narr8tive relevance-whatever you wanna call it, is 8y and large stronger than the souls. the normalcy they go a8out denying the soul any agency in this feels almost routine. normal to them.
this is my second major piece of evidence against soul control theory. in every instance kris can tell the soul to f8ck off and do whatever they want when they feel like it. there's other pieces of evidence to this fact, 8ut like i said at the start i wanna try to keep this concise. this is pure counter evidence here folks.
this fact that kris wins out in the 8attle of wills paints the rest of the game in an interesting light. 8ut that's specul8tion and theorizing i can leave to a different post. right now i'm merely here to show counter evidence to soul control theory.
which leads to my third piece of major evidence.
third major point: all the little things
"what the f8ck does all the little things mean" i hear you wondering. to put it simply, it's an uncounta8le (meaning i don't want to count it) amount of small non-impressive, easily missa8le interactions 8etween the soul/player, kris, and the world.
one example is the moment that honestly sparked the idea in me that kris was not in fact, under the control of the soul. at least to the point where i cared a8out it.
in chapter 4 snowgrave, i wanted to visit 8erdly. i was curious if i could have any neg8tive interactions with him. may8e rip off his 8lankets or something. this is the route where everything's messed up, i wanna see the lim8s of it. so i went over to the heater. i planned to just interact with it and choose "do nothing" 8ut then something shocking happened to me.
it turned on. kris turned it on. no prompting. no option for me to do anything else. i couldn't even turn it off. it was just on. the fact i, the one who was either in control of the soul, or taking on the role of the soul (not getting into what the soul is, just the idea it's controlling kris.) could not make 8erdly worse off struck me hard. it spoke to me. so starkly did it convey to me, i am not controlling kris. in a puppet sense at least. there is no more control happening here than in any rpg where you take on the role of a hero.
there's many other "kris does things on their own" moments. some of which even tie into the "the soul is just telling kris suggestions" idea. like how kris will stop themselves whether via 8iting or coughing, from saying they'll never play again. or how they'll cough when the option to say ralsei is just a darkner and shouldn't have feelings to override it.
kris sticks their fingers in the gr8s of a picnic ta8le. they gather darkners from the li8rary. they close the drawer with the dragon drawing 8ook in it when susie sees it. there's just so, so many tiny things that speak to a kris with agency that the soul has no real control over. the player can't even leave noelle's house right as she enters her yard. either noelle is asserting her will over the narr8tive, or kris just doesn't wanna leave for whatever reason.
after carol shows up all the doors in the holiday house give the text 8ox "no reason to go in there" in rooms you could defin8tly just enter 8efore. hell you can't even use the kitchen sink in chapter 2's ending.
who's really in control here?
major point 4: who's really in control here.
i need to level with you folks. it genuinely hurts me on some level. seeing people glaze over my final, and argua8ly my strongest piece of counter evidence. it's not just implic8tions you can glean from interactions. it's written outright. said to 8e so accur8 to even the smallest details.
kris is the cage for the soul. in this dynamic, kris is the one in control. keeping the soul captive. whatever happens, is allowed to happen 8y kris. cages aren't controlled 8y their captives. that's silly.
this is why it's hurt so much, seeing people go on and on and on and on a8out how kris is 8eing controlled 8y the soul. that their life is not their own. when there's so much pointing that that mindset in particular, is not correct. down to an unmissa8le panel of the prophecy calling kris the cage.
there is no player. there is only the cage. the cage forces you down the path. and you are trapped inside of it. even if you don't wanna 8e.
miscellaneous points
"8ut if kris is in control why did snowgrave happen?"
kris's actual motiv8tions are a complic8ted su8ject. honestly you could make a ram8le twice as long as this specul8ting and comparing evidence for kris's motiv8tions for-honestly everything. they seem like a complic8ted character who has conflicting motiv8tions and likes and dislikes. how can someone who loves pie also happily eat moss?
i dunno man kris is kris. they're as hard to quantify as any character. it's not like to8y fox can't write complex characters. noelle's simultaneously a huge weirdo and also the sens8tive girl next door. susie's a mean girl with a heart full of hope and kindness. toriel's a loving mother who does everything she can for her darling non-8inary child who's pronouns she respects, 8ut also gets drunk with her new 8oyfriend in house on the weekend and makes her kid comforta8le. asgore is a man with nothing 8ut love in his heart who cannot for the life of him stop f8cking things up and making people uncomfy.
things are complex and i think kris is no different as a character. i think it's worth looking into ram8 and eram's insistence that kris enjoys f8cked up sh8t, kris's allowance for the snowgrave route to happen, their clear discomfort with killing their friends in mantle, the entire f8cking aftermath of snowgrave in chapter 4, and all that other junk as pieces of a whole. not just lies 8eing told to the audience. whether it's lying that kris cares a8out their friends, or lying that they enjoy f8cked things-i think neither is lies. 8ut that's specul8tion.
"then why does kris keep taking the soul out of their own 8ody? what is the rel8tionship with kris and the soul if not hostil8ty from the soul forcing kris through life?"
that deals with a lot of specul8tion that i don't feel like getting into, writing this has already wiped me out majorly. i've 8een writing this for three hours str8.
8ut to comment on this, we don't really know what the soul does for kris, or what not having it in them does for it. it could 8e kris takes out their soul to remove their emotions to do weird knight conspiracy stuff. they could take it out to keep the soul out of the loop. they could do it for some other reason. kris could feel entirely neutral to the soul or resent it majorly. it's hard to say for sure. i have my theories 8ut i would save that for another post.
let me know if you want another f8cking novella on what i think kris and the soul actually are. it's an interesting su8ject i'd love to speak on if there's interest for it.
"WHAT A8OUT THE 8IG SNOWGRAVE SCENE!? HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THAT?!"
that would require me to define the rel8tionship 8etween the soul and kris. and kris's motiv8tions. and analyze the su8tlies in that scene from 8oth noelle, the soul, and kris's pov. and throw in some healthy specul8tion.
this is why i wanted to only focus on counter evidence. regardless of what someone says a8out the snowgrave scene, the previous pieces of counter-evidence to soul control still stand. i could think of three explan8tions. 8ut again, that would 8asically 8e part of that novella i mentioned a8ove.
anyway, that's a8out everything i can think of now. see you in deltarune chapter 6 every8ody. may8e if i'm left to my own devices i'll rant a8out why gaster and asgore are two characters who don't actually matter next.
#deltarune#deltarune theory#kris dreemurr#kris deltarune#susie deltarune#noelle holiday#noelle deltarune#theory#oh my god that took forever#8ut i'm so happy i finally got it out of my system#if anyone misses my whole segment#a8out why i'm only focusing on counter evidence#and just regurgit8s evidence for soul control#i'm gonna cry#my tears will rival an ocean

To start off, this is positive and a little rambling, but I've been wanting to talk about it for a while, especially since it's pride month now. Much as I love Togame, Kiryu, and Mr. Homotron 3000 himself (Endo), Tsubaki will always be my favorite.
I'm a non-binary trans woman and the naunce with how they handle him is SO refreshing, affirming, and really good queer rep. And, look, Tsubaki is amazing - I would love for him to be trans, but that's not who he is and I love him for that and I love that for him. Do I wish Nii-sensei would at least explain if he's a cross dresser or gender queer or femboy? Yes. PLEASE. I want to know how he sees himself! But the answer is literally just, "chill girl, I'm just hot" and that's enough for me.
In the very rare instances when he's othered, everyone has his back, especially Ume in his backstory. Every single person just treats him as people, no waffling, confusion, or discomfort. All accepting, 100%. And no one pries to try and "understand" it when they're not likely to get it anyhow and would just make him uncomfortable. Hell, he even triggers Sakura's blush radar. And even though Ume doesn't seem to have the same feelings, he's still very supportive and doesn't distance himself at all. And his back story is handled with such delicacy that it actually gives the audience the exact sense of frightful anticipation when admitting to something that's an integral part of you but not socially acceptable- especially in the anime.
And, speaking of the anime, let's talk about the English VA for a second. I don't know if the VA lurks here, but if you do I really hope you see this. I wanted to be a VA, even went to college for it for a few years - that training let me do my own voice training when I realized I was trans without having to fumble throughit like so many trans women do. And I've been hurt so many times by queer rep pulling back at the last second. Whether it was queer baiting or caving to pressure or bad casting or whatever...
I was really worried about how they'd handle this voice. I was particularly scared the casting director wouldn't understand well enough the subtleties of complex gender expression and we'd end up with a voice that was a cishet dude faking a girl voice or, worse, that they'd play it 100% straight with kind of a beefy, normal dude voice. I had something very specific in mind with Endo and I'm still reserving judgement, and absolutely nothing against the VA, but it sounds almost like the standard kind of deep slightly rough-around-the-edges shonen protag Aleks Le tends to play and that choice had me sweating.
But Tsubaki's English VA blew me out of the &#^%ing water. It doesn't sound like it's a man who this is his first time putting on girl voice. It doesn't sound super straight. It also doesn't sound like a stereotypical campy gay guy. It doesn't even sound like a practiced drag queen's stage voice. One thing you learn when voice training becomes a survival skill is how to break down the differences in the way men and women speak as well as how certain subcultures might change that.
What I hear from Tsubaki's VA is someone who *gets* it. The performance knocks it out of the park. The consonants are softer, words flow together more, there's a breathiness and lilt to the voice. There are squeaks and slinks whenever he's gushing about someone, usually Ume, in ways that none of the aforementioned subcultures do. But it's also played with just a bit of that masculinity to convey that Tsubaki still sees himself as a guy, no matter what he likes or how he presents. The delicacy with which both the manga and anime handle his backstory is the same care with which they cast and directed Tsubaki's VA. It's so, so much more than I dared hope for and it's almost making me cry just to write about how much it means to me.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank the community for telling the 'phobes abd haters to gtfo. This is animated by cute-girls-doing-cute-things CloverWorks, y'all, did you expect Berserk?!
But also, how everyone says Suba'ki rather than Tsu-Ba-Ki? Okay, that one bothers me a little.

Would you be willing to write something about a hero that rescues their villain nemesis, who they hate, and proceeds to take care of them until they’re back to health. The villain is suspicious of them, and soon finds out the hero has sacrificed their own safety for villains sake.
oh my goshhh y'all love your injured protags (and i also love injured protags these prompts are giving me lifeeee) thank you for the request!!
-
“I’m meant to believe you have no ulterior motive?” the villain snaps. “Give over.”
“I think it’s fair,” the hero says slowly, “that a hero wants to save someone.”
The two of them are as far apart as physically possible—the villain tucked up cosily in the bed against the back wall, radiating enough rage and distrust that the hero is probably safest where they are, with their back against the door at the opposite side of the room.
“I don’t feel particularly saved,” the villain continues coldly. “I feel mostly like you’re trying to corner me. What do you want?”
The hero sets the plate in their hand down on the little coffee table between them. “For you to get better and get out my house, honestly.”
The hero’s house is offensively nice, if this bedroom is anything to go by. The fact they can fit a coffee table and a sofa between the giant king-size bed and the door is evidence enough. That and the fact there’s an en-suite bathroom in here.
The hero steps back with a bored sigh. Such a tiny, idle noise is almost enough to make the villain want to throw their pillow at them. “Eat and we’ll talk afterwards,” they add plainly, and with that they make for the door and sweep out.
The villain waits until the door is closed and the hero’s footsteps have faded to nothing before leaving the safety of the bed. They double check the hero is definitely gone, and once they’re sure they’re alone they flop down on the sofa with a tired huff.
It still hurts to move, they can say that. Whatever burden’s been laid into their shoulder likes to remind them every-so-often, twinging mockingly even now as they lean forward to grab the plate from the table. They don’t really remember how they got it, honestly, but they remember being caught out by the superhero, remember feeling trapped, remember—
No, they’re not doing this now. The villain lets the food take their interest instead. It looks like some kind of curry, thrown on top of a pile of fluffy rice. It smells good, they must admit.
The hero returns half an hour later to the villain sitting in the bed and the food mysteriously vanished from the plate. “Ah,” they says with almost believable happiness. “You actually ate it. Good.”
“I threw it away,” the villain snaps back, “because I don’t trust you.”
“Obviously.” The hero smirks slightly, a look the villain absolutely hates. “Shall we talk?”
The villain’s lip curls without them realising. “Why are you acting so goddamn weird?”
“I thought you found me weird anyway. Come sit down.”
They can’t deny that. They sit on the sofa as far away from the hero as physically possible, which isn’t far enough considering the thing is only made for two people. “Do you remember what happened that landed you here?” the hero asks carefully.
The villain shrugs, an action they realise too late shoots pain through their shoulder. “Not really, so your explanation better be damn good.”
The hero nods along idly. “It’s no surprise; you’ve been out for a week. I was starting to think—”
“It’s not been—” Surely not. They haven’t been trapped in the hero’s house for a week. But… they were feeling rather out of it for what felt like multiple weeks, to be honest. “It’s been a week?”
“And a day,” the hero adds unhelpfully. “[Superhero] was there. He’s had a vendetta against all of you since the beginning, but recently he’s been going down a path most of us are unwilling to follow.”
“So what? He hates us, that’s not new.”
“No, but his attitude is. We— I care about rehabilitation.” The hero doesn’t react to the sarcastic scoff that gets. “[Superhero] used to as well, but nowadays he seems to care more about killing criminals than helping them.”
“About time one of you grew a backbone,” the villain comments with a snicker. “We’ve been egging you on for years.”
The hero doesn’t mirror the villain’s amusement. “If I hadn’t been there, [Villain], you would’ve died.”
That sobers them up. They clear their throat, dropping their eyes to study the dregs of sauce raked around their plate. “And you didn’t think that me dying would save you some hassle in the future?”
“I think if [Superhero] had gotten a taste for it, it’d be harder to stop him.” The villain can feel the hero’s stare burning into them. “I sacrificed a lot to save you, you know. I hope you realise that.”
“Oh no, your boss now thinks you have the moral high ground.” The villain scowls, their head shaking slightly. “Whatever will we do?”
“Another thing about [Superhero] is that he doesn’t let anyone stand in his way,” the hero adds quietly, “not even his allies.”
The hero lifts the hem of their shirt slightly, and the villain’s first reaction is to look elsewhere. But curiosity gets the better of them, and they are faced with a white bandage hero’s side, brown and red bruising peeking out from the edges. The bandage itself is starting to lose some of its colour to the splotches of deep red freckling its pristine fabric. It looks horrendous, to put it lightly.
“That’s his doing,” the hero tells them.
“Your lot’s definition of an ally is screwed,” they offer plainly, and that somehow breaks a tiny smile on the hero’s face.
“He’s beyond reason. I wanted to save you because he doesn’t represent what heroes are meant to be, and I don’t want anyone dying because of him.”
“So I’m meant to be your, uh…” The villain grapples for a word awkwardly. “Proof that rehabilitation works?”
“Maybe in the future. Right now I’m more focused on keeping people alive.”
“Am I alive enough to not be caged in your house anymore?”
The hero snorts a laugh of sorts. “Well, you’re well enough to argue with me, and I don’t need you trying to escape by breaking something, and I do want you to leave, so… I guess I can let you go.”
Twenty minutes later, the hero is seeing the villain to the door with firm instructions on how to recover their poor shoulder. It's quicker than the villain was expecting, but they're not complaining.
“Well, I guess, despite, y’know, you being you, and me being, uh, me,” the villain starts haltingly, “thanks for not letting me die.”
“You’re welcome,” the hero says mostly convincingly as they swing the door open. “Looking forward to seeing you back on your a-game once your shoulder’s better.”
The villain clicks their tongue impatiently. “You’ll see me as long as you don’t try and rehabilitate me like some kind of sad dog.”
They expect the hero to laugh, but they mostly just nod thoughtfully. “I think you’d make the right choices, [Villain], given the option,” they offer with a light smile. “Maybe I can help you make them, one day.”
“I don’t think you heard me.” The villain snaps, although the venom of it is missing. “I don’t want to change.”
“Okay,” the hero says with a shrug. “See you on the street, in that case.” And without waiting for a response they shut the door in the villain’s face.
The villain sulks most of the way home. They’re not some hero’s project, and they’re certainly not letting themself get brainwashed to prove a point. The hero’s bandaged side is still on their mind, though, and they can’t help but wonder why the hero would put themself in harm’s way like that. Surely that wasn’t just to stop the superhero. They could’ve done anything to stop him, and they chose to save the enemy’s life.
It feels weird. Wrong. Doubt starts to settle like a thick fog in their thoughts. Why? Why?
The villain sucks in a deep breath, focusing on the slight perfume of nearby flowers to clear their mind. It doesn’t matter—they’re alive. They’re still alive, and regardless of reason, it’s thanks to that stupid hero.

Hi Yuri! Have you ever considered the idea of there being an alternate version of the twst boys in Yuu’s world? Since we have no clue if it’s just another planet or an entirely separate universe, it’s theoretically possible. Poor Yuu would think they are going crazy seeing a familiar face or hearing a familiar voice in another world. Perhaps it is even painful to the point Yuu tries to avoid interacting with the boy in question. - 🦐
(Also, I am well aware of how often I’ve been sharing these thoughts. If they’re annoying you or you don’t feel up to it, I don’t want you to feel pressured to respond or anything. I’m just spitballing and posting before I forget. 👉👈)
OH BOY DO I HAVE SOME THOUGHTS ON THIS!!!!! (first and foremost being that you are very much not annoying <3)
An alt version of a twst boy in Yuu's world is just so yummy. There's so much angst potential depending on what the relationship is/was. Did their boy die in some horrible accident? Is he waiting for them, anxious and terrified about where Yuu went? Does this imply that twst also has a version of Yuu somewhere out there in the world? Questions questions. I did sort of write about this idea in the tags of this yan version of the soulbound au, wherein a cursed Yuu driven insane by their curse kills their soulmate before being isekaid to Twisted Wonderland and finding a different version of him, horrified with the realization that they could kill him again... but I want to cook up some dynamics for what the dorm leaders/overblot boys could be up to in Yuu's world first sooo...
I had a hard time thinking about Riddle until I remembered he's a horse girl and cast Yuu in the role of bad boy ranch hand whose dad's got a job at the barn so they're forced to help take care of the horses and warn all the would be YA protags about the "special horse" who doesn't take orders from just anyone. Not that Riddle is the protagonist... he's more the well established rich petty bitch who looks down on the new girls and especially on you because you're never taking care of his horse in accordance with all his stupid rules. And in stereotypical horse movie fashion Riddle has a massive not so secret crush on bad boy ranch hand Yuu who just doesn't get why he keeps trying to talk to them.
There isn't much royalty left in the world, but imagine Leona as the son of some rich business magnate whose older brother got the company and left him with "nothing." Maybe Yuu works at a liquor store part time and Leona comes in to pick stuff up every once in a while. You wouldn't call him a friend, but you guys shoot the shit enough that you have a general feel for each other to the point he joins you on your breaks to keep up the talk and play chess.
I love the idea of student president council Azul. He's made for that trope. Born for it, he'd be such a terror with Jade as his VP and Floyd as well. Floyd. I can't see him really being a part of the student council but I had this idea the other day based off this instagram post I saw about this mom who sews right? Her daughter was running for class president and she made these bracelets with little shrimp on them and attached them to cards that said "Keep it shrimple! Vote for (kid's name)!" And I was struck with this vision of Yuu doing that so like. Yuu running against Azul with that campaign slogan and he's tearing his hair out over it being so popular because people like memes (the original idea had Floyd running as Yuu's vp but they both dropped out at the last minute because neither him or Yuu wanted to do the actual work lol.) I also like student council president Azul and delinquent Yuu... but that's because of Tsuredure Children ha
Kalim and Jamil are hard... but I think the same set up of rich businessman's kid and his bodyguard in training still fits. How Yuu meets them is beyond me, but if you were friends with either of them could you imagine how painful seeing the same tragedy play out in this new world would be? Jamil doomed to always be a servant and Kalim doomed to be betrayed by his best friend... that would be so painful for someone who cared deeply about either of them I could see it motivating Yuu to try and resolve things for twst Jamil and Kalim that much harder.
Ok so hear me out... Vil still wants to be an actor in your world but he doesn't have the connections to his dad and is working as a pharm tech with Yuu at your local drugstore while going to school and hunting for gigs. He mentions being interested in cosmetics and magical pharmacology in game... and he also mentions knowing nothing about his mom so like. Your world Vil ended up with his mom instead of his dad and you get to see him on the cusp of his big break as one of his number one supporters from the very start, only to get isekaid to a world where you get to see what things could have looked like. It's strange how similar and yet not both versions of Vil are...
Idia is the guy who comes in to buy snacks at your convenience store during the night shift who you start talking to when you notice him buying a game time card for something you also play. You're stupid awkward around each other at first, but it's nice to finally have someone to talk about your niche interest with once you've passed each other's sniff tests. You don't actually know him know him though... so getting sent to another world where there's another version of him makes you worried the more you learn about his backstory that maybe you should have been there for your Idia more. Is he doing ok back home? Did he think of you as a friend? You hope he isn't blaming himself for any of this...
Malleus is an old money trust fund baby whose family was absolutely royalty at some point and is still overly attached to it. He likes old buildings, cemeteries, long walks in the fog, you know all those good goth things. He's tall and socially awkward and so grateful for you, his first and best friend who he met one moonlight night he swore was a dream in his favorite abandoned building who spoke at length with him about all sorts of things he liked. So you know. More or less the same. Just without the world ending powers... I think this is another one that would be quite sad. Which version of Malleus needs Yuu more? Which one is the real one? I'd hate the idea of him being destined to always be lonely and lose the ones he loves.
As for Yuu avoiding them... I could see that. It would feel weird seeing someone you love so much only for it not to be them at all. I know that the Lovebrush Chronicles kiiiiind of deals with this??? I wish I had the patience to play through it has an appealing glasses wearing ro but it's a mobile otome :/ but still. It's a concept I promise I am totally normal about.
