Personality Swap Short Story about Hotrod and Soundwave

"What are you doing?"

He walked over to Bumblebee who was staring at the door leading to Hot Rod and Soundwave's office.

"Hot Rod just snapped at me and called me a useless Autobot."

"Maybe he's having a bad day."

"That's what I thought. Hot Rod might be having a bad day but Soundwave is definitely possessed."

"I think that's being a little dramatic."

"Soundwave said hello to me and not just that he said my name."

He gave Bumblebee a startled look because something was definitely wrong.

"I'll call Wheeljack and Ratchet."

"Maybe you should call Thunderhowl."

"Why?"

"He knows all kinds of weird things and might know something about possession."

"Good idea."

He called all three and Ratchet who was in the area walked over looking annoyed.

"What seems to be the problem?"

"Soundwave said hello to me and my name."

Ratchet stared between the two of them for a long moment and then looked annoyed.

"Did you seriously call me down here because Soundwave said hello? I have important work that needs to be done."

Ratchet Ignoring their warnings to stop, walked into Soundwave's office. Only to come back a moment later looking terrified in a way they'd never seen before.

"Something's not right."

"What happened?"

They both looked at each other in fright. Even though they were curious to know what Soundwave did.

"First he said hello and called me by name. Then..."

Ratchet looked almost sick saying it.

"He opened up his mask and smiled at me before telling me that I do a good job and how happy he is to have me as a medic."

He felt his knees wobble and he thought he was going to pass out.

"Then Hot Rod glared at me and told me to get out."

He searched the matrix trying to find an answer or a way to stop possession.

Wheeljack came next looking confused. Especially when Ratchet grabbed him looking angry and desperate.

"What did you do?"

"I haven't done anything."

"Wheeljack please tell me you haven't made any personality switch machines or machines that cause someone to become possessed or change personalities."

"No..."

Wheeljack gave them a confused look and Ratchet ignored him.

"What now?"

"We need to perform an exorcism."

"Prime don't you think that's a bit much?"

"It's the only way."

Listening to them argue outside. He couldn't hold it in anymore and started laughing. A moment later Soundwave started laughing as well.

"That was a great idea."

"I know. Did you see the look on Ratchets face? I thought he was going to have a stroke."

The two of them continued laughing.

"Let's keep going I want to mess with Thunderhowl as well."

He nodded. Enjoying the way his friends were freaking out and wanting to continue messing with them.

So I was scrolling through Tumblr as you do, and one of the people I followed posted some WiPs. One of them was Cyberverse Cheetor. And I looked at the wip and noticed something, and got to thinking.

Thunderhowl and Cheetor both have 2 black lines on each side of their faces(circled in red). Thunderhowl's being the thinner lines.

Also if you can't read it cuz of my scrap handwriting:

Thunderhowls love languages are acts of service and words of affirmation, Soundwaves love languages are quality time and acts of service

you would think that bcs they both have acts of service as a love language, there would be an obvious connection but NO, they are constantly competing with each other(sorta, its one sided)

for thunderhowl its more of a natural devotion and genuine want to do things for the mech he loves

for soundwave, he likes helping because it gives him a purpose and he is not the kind of mech to be one upped

Usually its exactly like that one movie trope that goes

I don't personally ship this, but I've seen other people ship it, and I think it's obligatory I provide at least one Thunderhowl Rarepair, but anyway..

Cheetor and Thunderhowl.

I honestly think all Thunderhowl related ships could be considered Rarepairs because not a lot of people even think of him enough to ship him, even in his own show he's kinda underrated

But this one in particular is just so interesting to me, like this wolf knight who is probably billions of years old whose sole purpose is to serve his prime x a Cheetah whose sole purpose in life is to protect the Allspark. It's just interesting to me.

Personally, though, I honestly see them(if they had met) as just being like really good friends.

I feel like I missed a lot of Cyberverse episodes bc I had to rewatch some to figure out Thunderhowl lol. Time to rewatch the whole series!

As a Knight of the Primes, Thunderhowl knew no fear. And when he did, he knew just how to crush it. But how do you crush a . . . crush? Not long after he had been freed from Crystal City, he first lay eyes upon you. It was only now that he knew fear, as he had just finished confessing his feelings to you in the most noble manner he could imagine. 

And you snickered.

“What makes you think I care?” you said, snide. You crossed your arms and wiggled your hips. “You just like what you see, don’t you?”

Thunderhowl snarled. “Your frame is not what draws me to you,” he said. 

You shrugged. “Then you’re just a bored old man looking for a good time. I can understand, really, I can.”

He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. “Was I not clear when I said that I wish to familiarize myself with your mind and your spark, in pursuit of a healthy and balanced relationship? It may be centuries since I last desired another Bot, but I assure you I am steadfast in my feelings.”

For once, you had nothing smart to say and just blushed bright blue. Thunderhowl smiled, proud of himself for pushing through. Hopefully you would understand now, and stop being a brat for long enough to see the truth in his words.

Cyberverse really should have let Thunderhowl go just full berserk on Tarn because I just know that he was getting close to losing it completely. Like Tarn:

while thunderhowl is a huge advocate for equality in his relationships, he will not hesitate to knock soundwave down a peg when he gets too bratty or cocky

his go to’s are grabbing the back of soundwaves neck and scruffing him, physically dragging him by the arm away from whatever innocent bot hes decided to torment, and using his height and strength to intimidate soundwave into backing down (this one only works about 40 percent of time)

There have been several occasions where thunderhowl was seen casually strolling with soundwave thrashing and cursing over his shoulder

thunderhowl is definitely the kind of mech to pick up his shorter bf just because he wanted to

not to mention how huge of a cuddler thunderhowl is in general and theres just something about working while holding ur bf close in ur lap that feels right
