First of all, it’s important to note that I personally classify Dazai and Chuuya’s relationship as truly meaningful and admirable—but not in a romantic way.

I want to be clear that I don’t see their dynamic as romantic, which is where I differ from many Dazai x Chuuya shippers. This is exactly why this post will be very, VERY long.

Asagiri himself said that he understands where the Dazai x Chuuya ships are coming from and he definitely gets it, but he won’t make the ship canon because he doesn’t want to dishonour/disrespect the original authors.

So it is indeed very kind of the illustrators and the studio to still provide the fandom with “fan service material,” which is on one hand very thoughtful and kind, but on the other hand fuels toxic shippers and feeds their theories, which they accept as absolute facts. (I suppose they make much money from it no matter what they do, so why would they care, right?)

I’m not trying to demoralize anyone or diminish their character shipping preferences. Everyone is entitled to ship whoever they want, and I don’t want this post to come across as a hate post.

However, I don’t view these dynamics (or any ship in BSD) through rose-colored glasses but rather in a more realistic light.

Many ship blogs tend to romanticize nearly anything that fits their perception (and while I often understand where they’re coming from, I find their interpretations naive compared to other logical explanations), but I want to approach this from a perspective that stays as realistic and logical as possible.

So, I kindly ask those who are sensitive about their own opinions and perceptions to consider skipping this post, as I don’t intend to hurt anyone’s feelings.

A small reminder: you’re allowed to have your ship and preferences, but please don’t act like they are canon or the ultimate truth, or hate on those who don’t share your opinions. This is truly rude and disrespectful.

If we brush off the fan-service material of the scenes in Dead Apple (which we still don’t know if it is canon, and those specific scenes aren’t even incorporated into the light novel, I hear? I’m not sure about it, though; I haven’t read the light novel), what remains?

In my humble opinion, there is a great understanding between the two of them on a humane level, but their dynamic is double-edged.

So why did I consider Dazai’s openness around Chuuya "debatable"?

It starts with Dazai’s perspective. I once saw someone write (sadly, I have no idea where; sorry, I’m not good with past experiences and memories) that “Fyodor understands Dazai but doesn’t get him, and Chuuya gets Dazai but doesn’t understand him.”

I believe this thesis to be entirely true. The problem is that while Chuuya gets Dazai but doesn’t understand him, Dazai gets and understands Chuuya very well.

Let us move over to the 15 manga, if I recall correctly (lmao).

There was a scene where Dazai was ready to sacrifice a whole city just for Chuuya to find out his truth about humanity because it was bothering him on such a deep level.

Dazai could understand his feelings very well because he himself is also struggling with his own humanity.

Their dynamic is so meaningful because they are like two halves of an apple.

Dazai struggles with his humanity because he doesn’t feel human (the true reason behind it remains still unclear), but he is physically human.

Chuuya struggles with his humanity because he is physically inhuman, but he is still human with every fibre of his being.

I believe Dazai can see that as well, which leads him to believe that Chuuya is the most humane person he’s ever known.

This is entirely true. Chuuya embodies almost every aspect of a human so perfectly—with visible flaws (he is so gorgeous to me), emotions, impulses… (this aspect could be a whole other post, but I need to stick to the main point right now).

Does it matter that he is physically inhuman?

No, of course not. What truly matters is the inner persona of someone.

That is the exact aspect Dazai is struggling with. He feels empty, he feels inhuman because he lacks all those aspects Chuuya brims with.

I personally see admiration on Dazai’s part because Chuuya embodies the things he lacks perfectly.

We either admire people who are able to do or have the things we cannot, or we’re simply jealous or hateful. In Dazai’s case, he admires Chuuya; he is flabbergasted.

But wait… hate? How does this manifest in Dazai?

Remember how he said that he’s been trying to find a way to kill Chuuya for the past 7 years?

Well, first of all, I don’t believe he genuinely wants Chuuya dead. However, this statement could indeed be true (with Dazai, you never know if it is), because Chuuya embodies everything he is not.

He might have found solace in simply the imagination of getting rid of him, not truly trying to make it a reality. Because we all know—if Dazai wanted to, he would have.

The reason why he doesn’t want Chuuya truly dead? Well, isn’t it obvious? I believe from the bottom of my heart that he cherishes Chuuya. But not in a romantic way, because in the canon context, there is really no evidence of that.

You can find so many clues that suggest their bond is deep, heartfelt, and close. It is so beautiful, truly. Their bond is one of my personal favorites of all BSD relationships.

But the romantic side of it? There truly is none.

This is the common problem here. Just because their bond is very meaningful and deep, people find every opportunity and reason to make a romantic relationship out of those things because we sadly live in a world where meaningful relationships are not appreciated at all but simply put in a box called “romantic & sexual tension” (there speaks the INFJ). Most relationships are multifaceted, people.

However, I’m babbling too much. Let’s dive into Chuuya’s perspective:

Chuuya seems to be more aggressive towards Dazai, clearly and often declaring that he “hates” him. Does he now?

No. I don’t believe that he does.

I believe that he sees through Dazai’s antics and his void of self, which makes me think that he is rather feeling bad for him (compassionately). I know that Chuuya doesn’t seem to be the most empathetic person in all Bungo Stray Dogs universe, but I believe that he actually is quite empathetic; he just doesn’t show it much.

He tolerates Dazai’s unsettling aspects most of the time, even though he is short-tempered.

Speaking of him being short-tempered, this side of him shines even brighter at Dazai’s side. He is much calmer and composed around others.

I believe that this is: first, because he trusts Dazai that he has everything in control so that he can act more freely; second, that Dazai knows exactly how to push him into irritation, which makes him aggressive quite rashly.

I said this before when I described Chuuya’s ideal type, and I’ll say it again: Chuuya doesn’t hate Dazai, but rather the challenges he provides that unsettle him deeply.

Now, I’d like to point out another example: Remember when Chuuya hit Dazai, and Dazai said to him that it hurt and he is only a human too? Chuuya answers coldly, “no one would believe that” (again the 15 manga, I believe?).

This is the solace Dazai seeks from Chuuya. He helps Chuuya to see that he is indeed human and expects the same in return from him, which Chuuya doesn’t provide.

Chuuya, someone Dazai sees as the picture-perfect human, denies him his own humanity. That must hurt really, really bad.

This is exactly what I mean with “Chuuya gets Dazai but doesn’t understand him, while Dazai gets and understands Chuuya.”

Chuuya is unable to provide Dazai with solace because he is so fixed on his worry about the other people dying and struggling that he is unable to see that he hurts Dazai.

Which is ironic because not seeing what is in front of him is again, very Chuuya-like and very humane, after all.

We’re human; we may be impulsive, we make mistakes, we might hurt our friends and families.

And Dazai again is looming in shadows, lying almost dead on the sofa without a care how many people will die, which is again, very inhuman.

So, let me bring in another aspect:

Why did Dazai install a bomb in Chuuya’s car before he left the Port Mafia?

I believe it was his coping mechanism, as always. His cheerful, uncaring attitude he wears like a mask, his desperate attempt to show Chuuya he would’ve loved to get rid of him, but sadly he was lucky—once again. That stupid slug.

Chuuya is someone who Dazai cherishes, maybe not as much as Odasaku or even Atsushi, but he cares deeply for him. (This is initially why I thought that Dazai has a heart of gold, because he is able to cherish so many people so very deeply, and he himself isn’t even really aware of it, which is adorable to me.)

I read somewhere that those two are soulmates, and I believe that to be true also, but as I already said—not in a romantic or sexual way.

Remember when I said that I adore soulmate connections, not only the romantic ones but also the platonic ones? The relationship between Dazai and Chuuya seems to be exactly that to me. I love them and I love them as a duo as well.

So, as an addition, I’d like to speak about their unwavering trust in each other, which is one of the main aspects of their relationship and dynamic. Dazai trusts Chuuya because he knows that Chuuya understands his trust and has already plotted the entire situation with no errors whatsoever. Chuuya needs to play his part in order for Dazai’s plan to work out as intended.

The reason Dazai trusts Chuuya is quite simple: Chuuya is a truly trustworthy person. To work as partners, they need to establish a strong sense of trust, which plays out perfectly. They are both able to forget their quarrels and focus on the job at hand, making them unstoppable together. Chuuya is known for his loyalty; it is his most prominent personality trait. That is why Dazai trusts him so much, knowing that Chuuya also trusts him because he understands that Dazai never fails.

To Chuuya, Dazai is nothing short of a genius—a very strange one, that much is sure. He is well aware that Dazai is depressed and lacks many of the qualities Chuuya possesses naturally, but he doesn’t really judge him for it, as seen in his high tolerance for Dazai’s antics and childish manner.

In summary, their bond is truly admirable, deep, and very important. Please don’t diminish it by confining their relationship to a box of sexual and romantic feelings in a canon sense, as this simply cheapens their dynamic.

Create your ships, write your fanfictions, but please don’t be rude to others who don’t share your perspectives. It’s absolutely fine to disagree with my opinion and interpretation, but please be respectful to me and my dear followers.❤️

Reminder: Chuuya calls Dazai “Dazai”, just like the ADA members, which is his surname. This suggests distance. Dazai calls Chuuya not “Nakahara” which also would be his surname, but “Chuuya”, his given name, which suggests that he might disrespect Chuuya or not take him seriously, since Chuuya is actually older than Dazai. I’m not sure what to think about this fact, so I wanted to mention it but I had no idea what analysis I can make out of this.

Nah, it's cool. I still plan to respond to your ask properly when my brain decides to become functional again. Because I honestly feel like one of the biggest issues with some people in the Vat7K fandom is this entitled assumption/expectation for everyone to like and support this fanfiction AU. It makes it so that those who feel differently become afraid to speak up. Even if we have valid concerns or criticisms for the story and it's characters. I don't think anyone should become ostracized because of such a thing. We don't hate friends or family IRL for having different opinions. So why should that be the case online? I for one am not going to reject anyone for something like this. I still talk to and help 7K fans on a regular basis. There are nice and talented people who like it. That being said, there are some very bad fans within the community... One thing I see a lot of are baseless accusations towards others. It's often used as an attempt to dissuade them from ships that these people are not partial to. This is why I pointed out the Varigo age gap hypocrisy a while back. Just so that these toxic fans in particular could hopefully come to the understanding that the AU that they hold so dear wouldn't exist in the first place if the creators didn't draw shippy fanarts of 14 year old Varian with their 24 year old D&D OC. They changed ages for this self insert AU in the same way regular fans do for other ships. So there really isn't a reason for these Varigo shippers to make excuses or delude themselves into thinking that they are the exception. It's not a big deal? Not everyone who changes character ages for stories is a creep with bad intentions. It's kind of insulting to the creators of the AU to think this way. Maybe someday these bullies can finally start to view things from the perspective of those who they have needlessly harassed. Sometimes I feel like fans don't understand that I probably would be indifferent towards this AU if it was easy to avoid. It's not a canon continuation to Varian's story, but those who want it to be will interject it into conversations or stories without warning or proper use of tags. So basically they become like the fandom equivalent of a stranger who plays loud videos/music on their phone in public without headphones on.

oh gosh, lots to unpack here. So first of all, I should say I’m flattered that you think these things don’t shake me, I’ve certainly gotten better at brushing off the crazy entitled anonymous things I get sometimes but that is far from saying they don’t ever get to me. It always sucks when someone is a dick to you, no matter what the format. You just get used to it and better at keeping your chin up and marching on, just like with anything else.

following that, you never have to force yourself to be into anything that you’re not naturally interested in. That’s one of the great things about the fandom world online - there’s so dang many of us things it really only makes sense to write the ships/tropes/etc that you love, because there is someone else out there who loves the other stuff who is busy writing that. If you don’t want to be open to other ships, don’t be. I think most people have their OTP and once they have that they stick to it. The problems only arise if you then feel the need to turn your ship into a religion, willing to go to war to convert anyone whose not on board because you think yours is right and everyone else is going to burn in fandom hell if they don’t see the light. Just ship and let ship and there’s nothing to be sorry or upset about!

lastly - you can write to your hearts content and not be ‘involved’ in the fandom. You can just write and post things on ao3 and leave it at that, you don’t have to respond or get a tumblr or anything like that. You don’t owe the fandoms world squat, and you’d be a generous an awesome person to post your stories and leave it that!

am i the only one who like....didn't like the cat king? and his whole thing? like i think we're all forgetting that the main cast is supposed to be like 16-17, even stated in the show that they're minors, and don't get me wrong, i LOVE the actors, but in what world are those people minors. and feel like that perception skews things a bit. but the characters are canonically minors (and don't come at me with the the "well actually they're"- they're regarded as minors in the show) the whole cat king and edwin stuff is probably my least favorite ship for me right now. no hate to anyone who ships them, like do what you want. i just don't really get the appeal of it

Why do I feel like many Caryl fans are becoming toxic? I recently saw a post where they talked about how they were going to stop supporting the series if Carol and Daryl didn't become a couple and I honestly don't understand. Personally, I always saw them as a family and it would be super strange to me that they were a couple, but I understand and respect those who ship them, and if something were to happen between them I wouldn't hate the series just for not fulfilling something that I believed. I don't know, I thought we should respect the natural course that the characters take without pressuring them to do what we think is best. Both Norman and Melissa know their characters and what they feel better than we do.

-Shrugs- Who knows? I’m totally okay with however they end it, honestly, as long as both characters survive and are happy. I’ll be disappointed if they aren’t romantic but I won’t hate it in the least. I respect all the different opinions because they are just that: opinions. Everyone is entitled to theirs.

To me, Caryl embodies every aspect of their connection: friends, platonic soulmates, romantic. No matter how they end up, they are still Caryl.

Norman and Melissa have played these characters for years and know them better than anyone. They have a direct influence on the story now. I trust them and hearing firsthand how they cherish the story is uplifting to me.

Just let everyone do their thing and stay in your own happy little bubble with how you feel the story will progress. It’s the best thing to do for now.

Ngl when I see ppl shipping Jamie and Dr. O'Sullivan I think they're at least a little homophobic and very straight.

well, i disagree with a blanket accusation of homophobia, but I do think it's an opinion that holds a very ~straight appeal~, definitely, lol.

there are honestly a boat load of reasons i hate it but they boil down to:

i kind of get why people (esp. a segment of the general audience) might be attracted to it because it's soooo something (bad) shows/sitcoms would do. Like, my god is it TRITE. Predictable, formulaic...boring as all hell! Of course he's going to get with the nameless sister who has less than five minutes total of screen time, just for a little added spice and drama, sure. That's what happens in (bad) shows. But luckily for the rest of us, Ted Lasso even at its worst is not that brand of bad, lol.

it's completely baseless? Nothing wrong with a baseless ship i guess, but at the same time...literally why this one? lol. Like, Jamie and Roy's sister share one scene together in which I don't believe they even say anything to one another directly? There is no chemistry, no...anything? The entire premise for the ship seems to be Jamie telling Roy his sister is hot. Which was very clearly intended as a way for Jamie to get under Roy's skin. Nothing about the scene makes me want to see those two dating.

the big proponents of it i've seen (often, definitely not always) seem to fit into one of two categories 1) people who don't really like Jamie and/or are upset Jamie "got in the way" of their ship, and thus want him to be written into a corner that pulls him away from their preferred couple/inherently shuffles up their dynamic. they don't actually care to watch a plot between Jamie & Roy's sister, they just want Jamie firmly categorized as Taken and thus Not Interested in Roy and/or Keeley, and this is a convenient and predictable(y stupid) way to do it. lol.

OR 2) people who DO really like Jamie and in fact really like Roy & Jamie, but in a very "no homo" way, who want to see more of their dynamic and have a way to define/further explore their closeness, whilst also justifying their own enjoyment of it, that's well set apart from "they have homoerotic tension." Jamie & Roy's sister dating holds an appeal because it more explicitly puts their relationship into firm "brotherly" territory. And I unabashedly loathe that for the same reason i loathe "Roy is Jamie's father figure!" ...foremost because no really, they can just be best friends!! Even if you do not want to ship roy-jamie romantically, you do not need to slap different familial labels on them (or put them into random other pairings) to make their relationship "more." Their relationship is already "more"...they are canonically best friends!! idk if I'm explaining this in the best way but the mindset behind it often feels very rooted in ~the nuclear family is the most important relationship a person can achieve~ and thus a need to fit everyone into traditional family roles (and in some cases that PLUS blatant homophobia) and it gives me a personal ick. Ew.

If you want to see quirky jamie & phoebe antics or roy and jamie bickering, Jamie x Roy's sister getting it on is in fact not actually necessary for any of that? (and imo doesn't add anything to anyone's arc) Going back to point one...using that pairing to get there feels TO ME very boring and sitcom cartoony.

(i also obviously dislike it for my personal shippy reasons and must acknowledge my bias. 🫡 Jamie dating his best friend's sister when he clearly has a crush on said best friend is a relationship-based mental low point/cry for help i do not actually want him to go through as my fav character, LOL.)

I find her a know it all(not in a good way) abusive both emotionally and physically of Percy and anyone who likes him romantically(even before their actually even dating!). She's prideful and looks down on others. Especially monsters and mortals. She's jealous and just over all mean. I wouldn't mind these flaws if they were written as flaws she needed to work on and not as female empowerment. If Percy was a girl and Annabeth was a guy, and he did those things to a female Percy everyone would hate her. I just over all don't like her and she gets worse in the later books. I can't understand the mob mentality the majority of this Fandom has when someone doesn't like her or the ship percabeth. Like everyone is entitled to their opinion. You don't like it? Than why look for blogs on tumblr for it. Block so you don't see it. Don't harass people with anonymous messages and be a bullies because of fiction. It reminds me so much of the toxicity in the owl house Fandom when people don't like Amity and ship lunter. It's all fiction!

While reading the Percy Jackson books I hard core ship Percy and Rachel. She was one of my top favorite female characters.Now I mostly ship Nico and Percy. They're just so romantic and forbidden together. They give me so many fuck fate and fuck the gods vibes. Plus now Nicos my favorite character. My angst gay ghost king! Some thoughts on this shipping discourse

I have already expressed MULTIPLE times how much I hate drama, so this is probably gonna be my last post on this topic. In the future, I might post less, not at all, or often but with only positive stuff. I just don't know if I can mentally handle being on here for much longer. Anyway, here are some thoughts:

Trying to convince Tkkrs they are wrong is not going to work.

I would like to challenge anyone here to think of a time when someone ACTUALLY changed their opinion on something after an online argument. Can't think of one? Exactly. Humans are stubborn, it's just part of who we are. Especially online, nobody is actually open to changing their opinion on things. We argue just for the sake of arguing.

And, we have to remember that Tkkrs are JUST as confident that their ship is real as we (Jkkrs) are. It may be stupid, but as a former Tkkr I would know (I had just joined the fandom and I was young, don't blame me for falling for the Taekook bs). Anyway, when I say I was confident in my belief that's an understatement. Eventually, I did stumble across Jikook, and the story is actually very funny. Again, I had just joined the fandom and hilariously, my mom was starting to get into BTS too. One day, she stumbled across a Jikook video on youtube, called me in the room and showed me, saying "look how in love these two are". I was hesitant at first (still being a tkkr at the time), but I watched it with her, because she was my mother; someone that I knew and trusted. If some random person online had sent me the same video and told me to watch it, I wouldn't have. I would be pissed and ignore it. My point is, to convert me from a Tkkr to a Jkkr, it took my own mother showing me a video, and explaining to me that with her almost 60 years of life experience, she could tell they were in incredibly in love.

Nobody's gonna listen to a random person's opinion on line. At least, not with an open mind.

2. We're just giving toxic people the attention they want.

More than 50% of what I see on Jikook Tumblr recently is answers responding to toxic people's posts, whether those people are tkkrs, antis, or solo stans. Because we answer all their stupid questions, more of these people are coming out of the woodwork to share their own stupid opinions. And then it's just a toxic circle.

Even though it may give you some satisfaction to roast random strangers on the internet (I even enjoy reading roasts by jkkrs sometimes), it's really not worth it. We're just giving them the attention they want. If we just ignored them for a while and didn't answer their questions or respond to them, they wouldn't go away, but we would definitely see less of them on here.

Also, aren't we kinda being hypocrites? When tkkrs leave hate on Jikook posts we all get together to hate on them (which is justified) but we seem to have no problem when jkkrs leave hate on Taekook posts. I know it's different because Jikook is real and taekook isn't, but again, we're not going to convince them by leaving hate comments. We're just gonna piss them off more. Honestly, I think the only thing that would shut tkkrs up once and for all is if Jikook came out with their relationship, and we all know that's not going to happen, at least not anytime soon.

Ok, I think that's the end of my rant. Please let me know if you agree with me or not. If you disagree, I totally understand. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I'm just sharing mine.

The Marauders: Canon, Fanon, and the Battlegrounds Between

I know there is fierce contention between various camps within the Marauders fandom. Whether it revolves around ships, characterizations, or who knows what else, it’s out there. Everyone is fully entitled to their own opinion. And I’m personally unsure why there is so much animosity. People like what they like, and no one should be made to feel shame over the way they enjoy a character. 

There are things about the living Marauders era characters we can glean from canon. However, as the story is told through a single character’s POV, we have to take the narration with a grain of salt. Is it horribly inaccurate and unreliable, no. But is it biased? Absolutely. And thus how Harry views Sirius, Remus, and Severus during his teen years is not the end all be all to these characters. 

For James, Lily, Regulus, and anyone else who died during the first round against Voldemort, SO much is left open for interpretation. And there are many arguments to be made which have solid canon derived ground to stand on, arguments which at times even contradict each other. And I think this is what is so enticing and exciting about the Marauders. There is a lot of possibility depending on how you view a single character or a single event. It’s how so much fanfiction can exist without it all just being copies of the exact same story. And even when the plot lines follow a similar theme, people still love it because everyone throws their own little dash of pizzazz on these characters. 

How I relate to and then project the cast is heavily influenced by ME. Who I am as a person. And for you, the characterizations I portray may not be your cup of tea. Awesome! We shall continue to both enjoy the fandom gleaning what we love from the creativity of those who contribute. But it means I can’t complain when you don’t love my work, and you can’t complain when not enough people write about your ship or the characterization you connect with. We have to amiably agree to disagree, and find common ground from which to base our shallow internet understanding of the other. 

Even fanon is contested, as it should be. Maybe a majority of us agree Wolfstar is fanon, but people who ship Prongsfoot would heartily disagree. What I’d love to see is more posts about what you love about a character, rather than what you hate about the general characterization adopted by the fandom or a specific characterization. I think my mind would be opened to a wider array of ships if I could understand what it is about James and Sirius’ personalities which draws them together romantically rather than just platonically. I won’t necessarily agree about how those characters manifest to make that relationship take shape, but at least I can say “ah, I can see that.” It is far preferable over someone degrading a person’s characterization of James or Sirius. 

Even when a characterization goes rouge and totally doesn’t align with canon, who cares! That fic probably won’t get super popular as many people will be scratching their heads thinking “this isn't the [insert name] I know and love.” But if someone wanted to write it, good for them. They connected and reshaped a character to suit their own liking. No one says this is illegal. 

I feel like the broader Harry Potter fandom accepts that fanfiction does not necessarily have to be canon compliant or even canon relevant all the time. But for some reason, with the Marauders this sentiment is pushed to the recesses of our minds. People will climb the mountain of their ships and die on that hill. It could be generational (social media has changed how we interact with each other and how people interact virtually through fandoms as a result), it could be the nature of the characters themselves, it could be the ships. I don’t know what the catalyst is, but the things I read sometimes just make me shake my head. Thankfully tumblr’s algorithm keeps that stuff far from my feed. But sometimes people I follow reblog or post about this contention. 

I will never understand why someone feels the urge to go out of their way to write a terribly negative comment on someone’s work or a negative post about a ship they hate. Don’t like the tags, DON’T READ! Don’t like a ship, find and follow people who share your preferred ship. Don’t like the direction the fandom is headed? Dig, create, and stop complaining about how the ‘modern’ Marauders are nothing like how they are portrayed in canon. 

And accept that as the fandom grows, the way people interpret tags broadens. I’m sure fifteen years ago, a canon compliant tagged work looks a bit different from a current canon compliant tag. We can debate the minute details of canon and each of our individual interpretations or we can say, “you like the world of Harry Potter? So do I!” The only REAL rift should be between people who support JKR’s personal beliefs and those who do not. That shite’s real life folks. Not some fantasy world thought up by a single mom in the nineties. 

So spread the love! Not STD’s though cause that shite is also real. Practice consent and protection people. 

In unrelated notes, my tumblr timer app timed out for the day, kicked me off on my phone, and I promptly went to my computer and wrote this little rant. Also, it's election day and I've been avoiding the news/media/everything all day to wait until tomorrow to see the hopefully more stable 'results.'

Okay. I struggled to come up with some topics to talk about for a while plus just issues through the entirety of this week. BUT I FIGURED IT OUT.

🔥 - PROMOS. tbh, promo's main use were to help roleplayers find other roleplayers, to spread the word about your blog and find more partners and people to make friends and broaden your experiences with learning about new and exciting fandoms. Now I just find them tedious, and annoying to make. if you aren't a popular blog the odds of your promo being reblogged and spread around is so minimal. it also just feels like clout chasing at this point. and yeah nothing wrong with reblogging your promo and having your friends hype you up, but then ppl wonder why they think the rpc is so alienating? cuz someone else will reblog their promo's expecting the same thing and they don't get it and then they feel left out. but if its just so you can get some nice thrown at you, it just feels like more clutter for my dash especially if I'm already following you. now if you're a NEW blog. if you just joined a fandom, and you want some exposure, I'm down for that because that is what a promo is supposed to be for.

🔥 - Personals. I actually like personals. sometimes personals care more about what I post than my own followers. i get ppl being upset if they reblog their threads, but liking your posts? and maybe reblogging a headcanon or something but idk i guess for me that stuff just doesn't bother me. I love when people reblog my headcanon and they agree. or they add onto it, with their own thoughts. or they tell me how much they love it. makes me feel seen. makes me feel cool. i just think people forget that tumblr is NOT a roleplay site. yes, we found a use to tailor it to our hobby, that doesn't mean everyone who comes across our blogs know that. they arent apart of our community, what makes you think they have to abide our guidelines for it? tbh, roleplayers have just gotten entitled to thinking that tumblr is supposed to bow to our whim. we share a space with non roleplayers. to demand, and just expect ppl are just going to see your rules and read them and respect it rght away?? come on ya'll. we know to look for rules cuz its what we've been doing for years, but you can't expect that from strangers who are likely mobile bound just seeing something you wrote in the tags. its gonna happen. i just dont like the mannerisms some people have with them. you dont gotta be rude about it. if its really bothering you just block them and be done. problem solved. going out of your way to make posts about how annoying they are is just unnecessary.

🔥 - duplicates. this is one is gonna get me fired but oh well. Ya'll we have GOT to love ourselves better. because it is plain and simple insecurity for why people feel they cant talk or write with duplicates. i know it does deeper in some cases, like your current partner leaving you for the shinny new roleplayer of the same muse you write. believe me I've been there. but fuck those people. when are we gonna stop letting others dictate how we feel about ourselves? i hate seeing shit when a new roleplayer pops up with the same muse and suddenly you get the vaguing posts about 'suddenly feeling very doubtful of my portrayal' like its not obvious you are threatened. and in this fandom??? we're i follow like 30 different alastors?? lucifers?? Angels"?? all different, all got something to add and share. i got news for you but your portrayal isnt the only ONE. its not the end all be all. and yes I talk to my ego all the time, cuz there are some muses i write where i'm like I AM THE GOD FATHER OF THIS MUSE. but thats me and my own pride, doesnt mean anyone else who writes this muse is less than me. or i'm suddenly less than them. and there are portrayals i dont fuck with. i simply just do not look their way. but theres always muses i love roleplaying with duplicates cuz its FUN. also being able to talk to people who love this muse as much as you?? learn to stop looking at everything like its a competition and things will not be as stressful. its what makes this hobby unfun when you let those insecurities eat you up. im not saying its not valid, and im not saying you cant be upset, but what does it really do for you? what would happen if you just went and talked to them? imagine it goes well? you make a new friend. dont deny yourself opening a door just because you are scared of what 'might' be behind it. and its something I am learning and teaching myself. our issue is we all wanna be see, and heard. we all wanna be the absolute best. we wanna have the best portrayal like this sort of acknowledgement does anything. cuz while I know ppl love my own portrayals, still doesn't change the fact that i got issues and i cry myself to sleep still. the 'love' i get on here, ain't a fix. and if you think seeking validation on tumblr dot com is gonna fix you? its not. the attention and love we seek on here is just a placeholder, its us using this as a distraction from actually fixing our problems, and turn i still see how so many of us are unhappy. let it go.

Please, dont ever delete this blog. I love how you stay firm and true to your convinctions regarding Inukik, you speak your mind and you're not a coward. Sometimes reading the "opposing team" hateful analysis I get discouraged from staying in this fandom, so I'm glad someone shares my opinion. I also still dont get how Kagome's allowed to be shipped with everyone but liking Inukik is forbidden or something. I mean in stranger things fandom byler isnt canon and its more popular than mileven.

We are just bothering them, that's why they continue to gaslight. support InuKik get attacked right away and they make themselves the victim, they often use this moralizing talk to show that they are fair It's partly our fault too because we let ourselves get in over our heads when they attacked Kikyou and InuKik we kept quiet /those who attacked us use the aforementioned manipulation and now I see that a lot of people speak up and defend InuKik/Kikyou. Which is good. If they can express their opinion, so can we. And no one has the right to stop us. Anon, express criticism and hatred even towards her. You do it on your own blog or another platform. Your opinion is your business. I don't like it, simple as that. I don't like seeing anti inukik/Kikyou stuff in pro tags either, but does anyone around think about our feelings? NO. So why should I care about the feelings of people who are usually aggressors, and then make themselves a victim and use manipulation to silence us.

firmness really comes with the experience of certain things, and what I can advise is that have to be 100% sure about your beliefs, feelings about the character and the ship. At some point you'll get used to it.

If someone likes Kagome shipping with everyone their business. I don't care about it. And you shouldn't care either. Just ship InuKik and love them and Kikyou. The opinion of others shouldn't affect you. Your opinion should be the most important thing to you, and what other people think is their business.

for example Kikyou is shipping from Naraku which I hate but I don't care because people have different opinions and tastes. Their opinion, their business, and I'm entitled to say I don't like this ship. the same them they can say they don't like inukik/inukag etc.

I hope that you understand me and it doesn't work one way like inukag want.

It's funny seeing the current "teams" on the helldivers discussion.

You have the "completely worthless shithead" group who are the type to yell vitriol and hate whenever they get the chance and they think this is a wonderful chance. I hate these people but at least their mask off moment makes it easy to build a block list when they start screaming about how the concept of a gay or trans person is ruining the game. Same group who most often lack media literacy in the first place and make all those cringy "We couldn't be the bad guys, we're for democracy" style posts.

You have the "Fix the game" group with a wide range of understanding what's wrong- as in some truly don't, and some truly do. The varied opinions make this a fucking cacophony but that's been true of pretty much every "Fix the game" group in every game, it's a difficult thing to read through and build an understanding from.

You have the "Entitled gamers" group who just want to discredit everyone above them on this list by creating a list of assumptions and applying them to every person up there. Pretty worthless tier to be in but at least you get funny things like claiming people who solo super helldive just want the game changed because it's too hard for them. Or claiming anyone who wants the weapons to not feel like shit must be a cod, fortnite, apex etc gamer which is a neat one. Or, of course, repeating over and over how it's supposed to feel bad because we're disposable soldiers and this is a milsim "and you're too stupid to understand that", when it's not. We are that thing, that should add relevant flavor to our experience, it's not a milsim and doesn't play to those notes in the slightest, as well as not playing to the same tune as "losing is fun" style games like dwarf fortress, kenshi (kinda), PZ etc. It does have some of the flavor of that! That's why getting blown up can be funny when handled correctly!! But nope! And it's only gotten less lenience on that point as the game has adjusted to attempt and force the silly "losing is fun (but good)" moments incorrectly.

Honestly the best they've handled the disposable angle is with the wonderful visual hell gleefully shown to us every time we get to "our" ship and see the array of frozen meatbags to be sent to slaughter, the starship trooper like mega-patriotism showing how brainwashed we are thus justifying our 'waste' (both in manpower and in gratuitous weapon use), and the amount of our weapons that are clearly "too high grade and dangerous" for sane use. Then they fuck that all up and say "Oh it means we're all using playdoh guns and ragdoll infinitely since we're weak" which ironically goes too far and makes the message murky- because the critique of military spending and dehumanization worked better when we have ultra weapons and we die a lot to them- not when we're handed bb guns and our deaths are most often just annoying "Oh, unlucky, a patrol of hunters spawned under me :/"

Being a bad entry in the "losing is fun" category is a bad thing I'm sorry to say. At a certain point you're saying walking off the ledge in super mario bros is the best part and you look weird. I find this group most annoying I think. Anyone yelling "Entitled gamers" over a game blatantly being less than it was at launch and less than it's potential and defending that assertion of your fellow player being lesser by saying "It's SUPPOSED to kinda suck and you don't GET it" is so stupid. It's lore flavor already does influence how it plays in good ways- YOU don't get it lmao.

Then you have the "It's already perfect you're all just stupid, go play another game" group who, to keep it simple in alignment with their very simple "Just go play another game" catch phrase, I'm glad they are enjoying the game

...and if they simply did that instead of spending most of their time insulting anyone who wants "better" (as in that particular person's definition) I'd even respect them :) (they don't.)

At the current moment I'd assume the final group is the most happy because a lot of us who are annoyed with the direction the game took ARE playing different games.

I mean hell, I'm happy with the multiple hundreds of hours of enjoyment I got from it, and while I'm disappointed that it's in a state I find far less enjoyable and lacking in comparison to its potential- I'm not mad at the devs or game for that and I'm happy to play other stuff in the meantime / for good if nothing changes.

I AM a petty bitch who's annoyed at the discussion's low points though lmao. I ain't above that. The weirdos being toxic levels of negative are pathetic to me and the weirdos attempting to discredit any critique without offering more than a skin-deep rebuttal embarrass me.

Mostly I just think it's funny when I see random takes on steam or wherever that are like "You should just go play CoD, you clearly don't GET it" and then that person's library is the most milquetoast thing you've ever seen.

They'll say "YoU don't GET that we're disposable soldiers, you would never understand a game where you're not power tripping!" and then they've never played a single game that's actually about struggling and how fun that can be- just speaking out of their ass- it's frustrating.
