Ghostface! Sam
Masterlist
ACT 1
Characters are high school seniors, so 18.
Warnings: foul language, murder, blood, sam's super obvious, use of y/n, maybe some spelling errors.
You sat on the table out in the school yard, looking on as some reporters and police officers conducted brief interviews with anyone who'd entertain them. Sam sat on the bench, leaning back between your legs.
Jake shakes his head, "can you believe it? Our town's got its own serial killer."
You scoff, "the guy's hardly serial it was two people and he didn't even have the balls to do it bare faced, I mean a mask? Fucking pussy."
"Yeah but there could be more, I mean he killed people we knew, one of us could be next," Sam shrugged, looking up at you.
"Don't be an ass." You smack the back of his head and he laughs.
"Who do you guys think did it?" Jake asks looking around the group.
"My bet's on Jared, Stacy's ex. He never got over her." Amanda shrugs.
You shake your head, "no way, look at him. He's a mess," you nod towards Jared who was speaking tearfully with a reporter. "Besides he loved her, why would he kill her, though that would be pretty good motive 'if I can't have you, no one can' but my guess is it's whoever she'd stolen Randy from or some one of the other thousand people in this school she pissed off."
Jake laughs, "oh man, I forgot you're into this shit. Your girl's a freak Sammy" he nudges Sam, you roll your eyes.
Sam shakes his head, a hand running up your calf, "we should get to class, see you guys later...or not." He smiles, getting up and draping his arm over your shoulders, leading you away.
That afternoon, Sam dropped you at your house after school, promising to spend the night cause he didn't want you to get hurt, you know with a masked freak running around killing people and all.
You sigh, dropping your backpack on the floor, your parents were out of the country, as usual, God bless diplomats. You shrugged off your jacket and stripped down to just to your tan top and underwear because the place was so darn hot, settling on the couch, preparing to watch however many episodes of Criminal Minds your brain could handle.
You're invested in an episode about someone making real people into dolls when your phone rings, startling you. Assuming it was your boyfriend you picked up. "Hey"
"Hello Y/n" the voice on the other end sounded raspy and distorted, like the one the news reporters had described.
You assumed it was Sam pulling your leg, "Haha very funny Sam."
"This isn't Sam, you stupid bitch!"
You're taken aback by the sudden outburst, silence on your end.
"Oh what's the matter sweetheart? You scared of a 'pussy in a mask'?" The killer mimicked your earlier words.
You swallow, "What the hell do you want?"
"I wanna play a game."
"yeah? What game is that?" You ask warily.
"We're gonna play some horror trivia, I know you love scary movies. Here are the rules, I ask three questions, you get them right and I won't carve up your sweet little boyfriend, that sound good?"
"Fuck you, if you hurt him-"
"You'll what? Kill me" the voice laughs, you feel nervous tears roll down your cheeks.
"First question, you have five seconds. What was the name of the killer in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Five-"
"Leatherface" you cut him off.
"Very good Yn."
You feel relief wash over you.
"Second question, Which movie did the kid die in the sewer? Five four-"
"IT"
"Very nice- I love those panties by the way, black's your colour"
Fear fills you, looking around hastily you click the alarm system on your phone, locking the doors and windows. "What?" Your voice trembles.
"Final question and I want you to think very carefully about this one y/n..."
You try to steady your breathing.
"Did you just lock me in or out?"
You panic running to the kitchen to grab a knife, the alarm system disarms and a sob escapes you, as you turn it on again, only for it to be turned off again, you back yourself into the wall, too shocked and panicked to even think of hiding. You watch as the front door knob jiggled, quiet sobs escaping you, holding the knife firmly.
You're about to charge blindly when the door opens, dropping the knife when you realize it's just Sam.
He looks both confused and alarmed when he sees your condition,"baby are you okay?"
You hold onto him tightly, sobbing into his shoulder. He rubs your back holding you close, he kisses your head, "it's okay, it's okay I got you. It's alright"
You sat on the couch watching him barricade the doors and make sure the windows were secure. "I'll be fine."
"You're not fine, you were scared and crying and that son of bitch threatened you." He sat next to you on the couch, your hand finds its way into his dyed hair.
"I just- thank you" you smile, he kisses your lips.
You're silent for a moment staring at the tv, when a thought crosses your mind. "You know, he said- he said, 'are you scared of a pussy in a mask' how would he know I said that?...Unless he was there" you mused. Sam looks unphased.
"Don't over think it you'll go insane," His hand travels up our thigh, planting a kiss on your lips and down your neck.
"maybe, he's one of our friends."
He laughs, "You think the killer is one of our friends? No way, Jake throws up in bio when we have to dissect a frog,Riley's a moron and Amanda well, she's not very bright."
He's on top of you now, positioned between your legs. You smile, "and you?" You meant to tease.
He smirked, "Oh baby, I'm interested in rearranging your guts in only one way."
You laughed, pushing his face away from you, "You're such an idiot, who says that."
His smiles, dipping his head down to kiss your neck, his hand creeping into your panties.
The next morning at school, when you and Sam arrive the reporters are there again, you squint, the bright sun in your eyes.
"Why are they here again?" You ask. Amanda pulls you into a hug.
"Babe, I'm so happy you're alive, good thing Sam got there or that could've been you."
You and Sam look at each other, "What could've been me?"
Riley puts his arm over Amanda's shoulder, "Principal Reed, he got attacked last night. He died on the way to the hospital, his daughter found him too late."
"What the fuck, and they're sure it's the same guy?" You grimace.
"They're pretty sure, small town three murders already. It's likely," Amanda interjects.
You take a deep breath, "Son of a bitch. I actually liked Principal Reed, he was a nice man."
Sam smiled, looking at you. "At least we know you're not the killer."
You roll your eyes, "yeah yeah I'm going to class."
Amanda shoves a flyer in your hand before you could walk away, "Halloween party Friday night at my place-you know memorial for the dead or what not, you better come."
You chuckle, of course she'd use any opportunity to party. "There's a killer on the loose, running around in a mask, just carving people up and you think it's a good idea to gather as many people as possible in one place and get them all drunk?"
She begs, "come on, it'll be fun, and gathering is safer than you sitting at home basically waiting for this psycho to come gut you...for real this time."
Sam takes the flyer studying it, "Party sounds good."

Question: What episode are you guys most proud of, that you just made and you really knew this is something special?
Jared: What episode are we most proud of that we made - of Supernatural?
Question: Of any show.
Jared: I'll go with Supernatural because we've got some Supernatural family members up here. What episode - I guess I'll start - sorry, I hear a little "Eeeeeeeeeeee" Was E.T. just up here? Why are we hearing "Eeeeeeeee" - just kidding, kidding. I think for me, this may seem obvious, the episode I'm most proud of and the most difficult episode to shoot was the series finale. It was rough. It was really rough. And it was a weird - I think when the COVID strike happened, we got - Jensen and I got sent home from Canada on Friday March 13th, Friday the 13th, appropriately, of 2020 because they thought they were going to shut the borders down. So they were like, get across the border, go see your family, we don't know what's going on, you know, there's a worldwide pandemic. And so we had the scripts by then, we had the last two scripts of the series and we got home and didn't go back to Vancouver until August 1st-ish? So I had four months - and a half - to sit there and read through the dialogue, I couldn't read through the scene, the barn scene especially, without crying. And so I'd like go - yeah, we have a little treadmill at our house - and so I had nothing else to do, I'd be like hey Genevieve can you take the kids for a second, I'm gonna go and just get a little run in and read through the episodes. And she's like, yeah, do it. So I'd go and I'd come back and my face would be all puffy and red, and she'd be like, oh shit, are you okay? Like, thinking I got bad news about a friend with COVID or something, and I'd be like yeah, just read the finale, it's cool, it's cool. Yeah, so that was very difficult. But I was very proud of that and it was very heartbreaking as well. Guys and gals?
[Julian Richings talks about being proud he was able to hit his mark in the big boat of a car Death drove in his intro, Sam Smith talks about all the little missing pieces character moments of Mary in Absence, and Alaina Huffman reminisces about getting "to kick the shit out of Crowley" and how great Mark Sheppard is.]
Mitch Pileggi: I'm gonna keep it with Supernatural, because I've been so fortunate to have such a long career and I can't remember most of it, so I couldn't remember moments from it. Probably the hugest, one of the hugest moments of my life was the day that I met Jared Padalecki. And, I mean, I've got the job, so I don't need to say that. Yeah, he ain't gonna fire me. So it was huge, I met an individual that has been so giving and so - to my family, to me and to my family and everybody around us on the show that we're doing now. I have to say that the show that we're doing now is my favorite show that I've ever done in the forty plus years of my career. Without a question, without a doubt, if you haven't seen it, start watching, please. But I think as far as Supernatural, I didn't understand most of what that character was doing and I'm still trying to figure it out. So, I mean even Bob Singer was like, what the hell is going on with those Campbells? So. But I have to say, the scene that I had with Jensen where he turns into the Yellow Eyed Demon was a blast. I had so much fun. I got to get up and sniff on Jensen real good and it was fun, I really enjoyed doing it. And just - like for both of them, when I met both of them, I think I took Jensen aside about four days working on the show and I said I just want to say that you two guys have got your heads screwed on right. Keep it that way, because this business can really twist you up and it hasn't done it to this day, so.

I was on IG just bored scrolling through my explore page posts and came across one of AW’s posts, so I decided why not scroll through her page, just because. I don’t think anyone really looked at her page before like they did with Ale for example. It’s so full of downright weird and at the very least questionable stuff. First of all, she made a whole post for Ukraine, with proper caption which wasn’t a repost or a copypaste from someone else. She even included some donation info in there and according to her caption even put a donation link in her bio at the time. Now the question is why can’t she do the same for Palestine? The situation there is way more urgent, so why does she only do some reposts on her stories which are gone after 24h and never actually uses her voice in a proper and direct way the way she’s done for Ukraine? More so, she keeps supporting zionist and pro-Israeli brands and people. My guess is she doesn’t want to outright pick a side, so she tries to sit on both chairs and keeps doing what benefits her only. Not everyone would click on some repost to properly see what it’s about, as not everyone would even bother to check stories which are gone the next day anyway, while a post is way more noticeable and would stay there unless you delete it. So idk why people keep praising her for even less than a bare minimum, when she’s fully capable of doing more and actually use her voice properly the way she’s done for Ukraine. She just doesn’t want to do it for Palestine for obvious selfish reasons. Now, who the hell said that that woman stayed at home during Covid? She didn’t and the evidence is all there on her IG. She went travelling through California, most likely with Pine. She did the very same thing almost every celeb did during pandemic, and instead of sitting her ass in her mansion, she “escaped” on the trip through Cali. That’s literally how she called it too, an “escape”, while most people were struggling in their tiny apartments, she couldn’t handle staying in a big ass house. She even went to some horse ranch, which had workers there, so basically they “served” her the same way the workers on that yacht in Ibiza did Seb and Ale. Not to mention that she also went to a restaurant and there was no mask in sight, kinda like Seb and Ale in that club, huh?! It’s also worth mentioning that she and Pine were papped a lot during that time and wore scarfs instead of a proper mask quite a few times. There’s even a pic of her all smiles, pulling the scarf down, kinda like Ale did with her mask in one of stories which was interpreted as “mocking the pandemic”. Idk, but to me “escaping” on a trip through the state with various fun activities during a global pandemic and then posting pics from the beach with a beaming smile falls under “mocking pandemic” category and that’s exactly what AW did. She spent Xmas in England when many couldn’t see their families. She didn’t give a shit. Not so righteous now, are we? Multiple posts with quite interesting and very weird captions featuring her bestie Jared Leto, who some people (looking at you galaxy) tried to say wasn’t her bestie but just a dude she met a couple of times… He’s her “papa pootang”, just so y’all know, the “bestest best company to ever be in” and she “couldn’t be more proud” - all direct quotes from her multiple posts. The “back from psych ward” post is my favorite one tho, seems fitting lol. Anyhow, there’s also way too many posts about W**dy pedo All*n (seems to be one of her favorites). Lots of posts with sexual innuendos, her flaunting her privilege and money in poor countries like Africa… I think there was an outrage when Ale just went there, but I guess when AW does the same shit and even worse it’s all fine nbd. Lots of pics of children, which I’m personally not comfortable with. There was one pic in particular which made me uncomfortable given the image and that it was taken from the back without any consent. Another post in particular which was 100% weird attention seeking af but I’m not surprised now that I’m familiar with her baiting, so yeah.

SUPERNATURAL REWATCH, 2x04: “Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things”
-Girl, if you don't want to talk to him anymore, then why would you answer the phone?
-Damn....she's dead.
-Uncle? Uncle who? Do they ever mention this uncle later on in the series because I don't remember any uncle?
-Dean, you need to stop hiding from your trauma!
-Of course, Dean would find something hinky at the graveyard when they go to visit Mary's grave.
-Ceder Rapids? Is that an Iowa mention?
-Wait, whose house did you break into? Is that Angela's?
-Girl, you believed that a little too quickly for my liking.
-How is this girl not suspicious of Dean? These sound more like questions a cop would ask, not a "cousin".
-Dean, come on, you got to admit it'd be a little gross to salt and burn a body instead of bones.
-You really brought her back from the dead when she didn't want you when she was alive, you selfish asshole.
-Dean, you don't even know that it's him! Calm down!!
-Dean: "What's dead should stay dead!" Yeah, you're handling all of this really well, Dean.
-DEAN OPEN UP AND TALK TO YOUR BROTHER!!!!!
-Also, dude, you're really going to fuck a corpse.
-Okay, so Dean did you know that Neal was Angela's dad's TA before you went accusing him of resurrecting his daughter because if you did then that makes you a huge dick.
-Dean: "Neal! It's your grief counselors. We've come to hug."
-Dean: "All right, she clipped Matt because he was cheating, right?" Sam: "Yeah." Dean: "Well, it takes two to, you know, have hard-core sex."
-Girl, why are you still next to her?! RUN!!!!!
-Second time Dean's said, "When something's gone, it should stay gone".
-Dude, could you make it any more obvious that you're trying to ditch her.
-I don't think Neal deserved to die, but he really shouldn't have brought Angela back to life in the first place.
-Well shooting her in the forehead wasn't the greatest idea.
-I really hope no one ever exhumes her body because if they do, they will be very confused about the new injuries to her body.
-So, Angela "breaking" Sam's hand was that written into the show because Jared had to have a surgery during the filming of this season, right?
-Finally! COMMUNICATION!!!!
-Dean: "I was dead. I should have stayed dead. You wanted to know how I was feeling. Well, that's it. So, tell me, what could you possibly say to make that alright?" MY HEART!!! JENSEN IT'S ONLY EPISODE FOUR AND YOU'RE KILLING ME!!!!!!!! NEVERMIND, I CHANGE MY MIND, DON'T OPEN UP!!!!!!!
#Brittany Watches SPN#Supernatural#2x04#season two#episode four#Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things#Jensen Ackles#Jared Padalecki

________
“No,” whined Zeppelin as Jensen carried him out of the bedroom for the third time that night. “Daddy, I want to sleep with you.”
“Zeppelin. You gotta be a big boy and go to sleep. It’s midnight and way, way past bedtime,” said Jensen. He started to cry loudly and Jensen set him down. “Do you want a time out? I’ll give you one first thing in the morning if you don’t behave.”
He ran over to you and grabbed your leg, burying his face in it. Jensen sighed, tired after a long day and you knew he needed some sleep. You squatted down and Zeppelin grabbed at you, shaking a bit. You frowned, Jensen catching it as you picked up the little boy.
“He can stay,” you said. Jensen made a face but you carried him into the room, Jensen grumbling to himself. You let Zeppelin crawl into the middle and immediately grab his father when Jensen got under the covers. He was asleep quickly, Jensen kissing the top of his head. “He’s scared.”
“He had a tantrum. He’s four,” whispered Jensen. “He needs to sleep on his own or he gets dependent.”
“You’re his father. He’s already dependent,” you whispered. “He’s a little you.”
“What’s that mean?”
“It means he missed his daddy and he has been the one telling his sisters for three weeks daddy’s coming home soon. I don’t care if he sleeps in our bed, Jensen. Sometimes he has to be a big boy but not tonight.”
“He was very...he’s very much me,” he said quietly, fixing the blankets over his son. “He’s in tune with other’s emotions.”
“I know,” you said. “He’s a sweet boy.”
“When I was a kid, around seven or so, my dad went out to LA for about two months for work. We didn’t have the money for him to fly back and forth so he drove out there. He would call every night but it was long distance and it was expensive back then so all I got to do was say hi to him really. Somewhere in the middle of the two months he drove back to visit for a weekend. I was so excited. So, so excited. I was gonna tell him all about school and my baseball games and the jumping contest my brother and I had on the swings. I was so pumped. He said he was gonna be there Saturday morning for breakfast. Well, I wake up, run downstairs, he’s not there. Lunch rolls around, he’s not there. Afternoon snack time rolls around…”
“He’s not there?” you asked, Jensen nodding. “What happened?”
“Never left LA. Got in a car accident. He was fine but this was the eighties and my mom didn’t get a phone call until the afternoon saying he wouldn’t be coming home. I thought a hundred million things in my head of why he wasn’t there. That achy pit in your stomach. When he finally came home a month later, I slept in their room, in their bed. That little achy feeling went away after that night. I know how much he’s like me,” he said, lightly running his fingers over Zeppelin’s head. “But I gave him that part of me too and I wish I hadn’t.”
“Why?”
“Because he’s too little to worry about me.”
“He’s okay and he’s not gonna worry after tonight. But Jensen, there’s nothing wrong with him having that part of you. It’s a really good part, the part that loves the people he cares about. Right now he doesn’t understand it but someday he will and that’s going to make him a person people will be fortunate to have in their lives. That’s a great part of you he got.”
“Just have to go and make me feel better, don’t you,” he said softly. He closed his eyes and smiled. “Think I’m doing an okay job at this?”
“Yup,” you said. Zeppelin turned over in his sleep, smashing his face into your arm.
“You care for them,” said Jensen. You nodded and he burrowed down into the sheets. “Because of me or your job?”
“It always helps the job,” you said. “When you nanny, you want the kids to feel comfortable with you and caring about them always makes that easier. But I don’t...I don’t like them because I decided I liked their dad, you know?”
“Why did you then?”
“People with money sometimes let their children get raised by that money and you can tell when it happens. But it’s so obvious that doesn’t happen with them. They have nice toys and clothes and things but they’re good and funny and smart and they could very easily be brats if you went the easy route but you didn’t and it just shows. Sure they’re kids and they can drive anyone to the brink of insanity at times, but they got big hearts, especially for dad. I just like them and seeing them grow into those people more every day.”
“Me too,” he said, Zeppelin rolling back, fisting his hands into Jensen’s shirt this time. He smiled and you leaned over, kissing him goodnight, pecking one on Zeppelin’s head. “Night.”
“Night Jensen.”
The next afternoon when you arrived at Jared’s house you weren’t sure what you were expecting. Jared and Jensen were off doing who knew what and you felt like you’d been set up on a playdate yourself. You’d dropped off the kids there more than once already and knew their kids but for some reason or other you’d yet to meet Gen. You swallowed as you followed the kids around the side of the house, the three of them taking off to go play with their friends on a swing set. You looked around and bit your bottom lip, fixing your bag over your shoulder.
“Y/N?” called a voice. You turned and saw a woman behind you, a bit sweaty in some workout clothes. “Hey. I’m Gen. Nice to finally meet you.”
“Thanks. You too,” you said.
“Come on,” she said, waving you to follow her up some steps to a patio. “Tom! JJ!”
“We know!” they shouted back from the swings. She shook her head and sighed.
“Not that any of the little ones can get over to the pool anyways but I want to remind them to keep an eye on the younger ones when I’m inside,” she said, showing you to a patio door. You followed her inside, Gen walking into a kitchen and going straight to the fridge, pulling out a bottle of cold water.
“They have hair like their dad,” you said.
“Yes, yes they do. Getting them to get a haircut is like herding cats,” she said. She gulped down her water and let out a deep breath. “Do you mind if I shower quick? Time got away from me.”
“Yeah, no problem,” you said.
“There’s a bathroom right around the corner there. Feel free to take whatever from the kitchen if you want. I’ll be back in ten,” she said.
“No problem,” you said. When she was upstairs you went back outside, leaving your bag in a patio chair. You went down the steps and watched the kids running around for a moment before exploring their backyard. “Here I thought your backyard was nice Ackles.”
“Y/N, will you play tag with us?” asked Arrow from over in the grass.
“How could I say no to a face like that?”
Fifteen minutes later you were warm and taking a break under the patio again out of the sun, the kids playing on the slide and swings now.
“Remember when we had endless energy like that?” asked Gen as the back door opened.
“Barely,” you said, a margarita glass set down in front of you. “I see we’re going to be very good friends.”
“It’s so hot out today,” she said, setting a pitcher and another glass down on the table. She poured you a glass and then herself one before taking a seat beside you. “I bet the boys are out jet skiing.”
“They really are like a pair of children when you get them together,” you said.
“Yeah but it’s cute. Most people don’t ever get to have a best friend like that,” she said. “Sometimes they need their space from each other but Jared’s literally been counting down the days until Jensen gets back.”
“I don’t think Jensen will ever stay away that long again. He missed his family and friends. Home,” you said.
“We’re glad to have him back. He’s been gone for a while. Even before you went to Canada,” she said.
“Were you good friends with...” you asked, Gen nodding. “I’m sorry.”
“It sucked. Still does,” she said. “When the boys were off, we could hang out. We got very close. After the accident I was the one taking care of the kids, helping his parents and family with their day to day. Jared focused more on Jensen, helping him physically get back to normal and then mentally. But you know how he was when you met him.”
“I know a lot of work went into helping him get there. I’m very grateful he had you guys,” you said.
“Listen...I’m hoping we can be good friends too. It was different for me and Dee. We both were dating the boys around the same time, got married around the same time. I know we don’t have that and...I just hope we can have that relationship still.”
“Me too. I know we’re probably gonna be seeing you guys a lot now that neither of them are working,” you said.
“Probably most everyday,” she said. “They’re like twins separated at birth or something I swear.”
“Has Jensen always been a bit quiet?” you asked.
“Yeah. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen that boy drunk off his ass and being a troublemaker but he’s always been that way. Maybe it’s why he and Jared fit. They’re protective of each other in different ways. Jared’s the loud one out of the two of them, always has been and Jensen, even if he is your best fucking friend, sometimes he’s a little bit quiet.”
“I figured as much. He’s just…”
“Gentle,” she said, a smile coming to your face. “You two are pretty serious, huh.”
“Maybe.”
“It’s been five months. I’d say it’s serious. You move in yet?”
“Technically I’ve always been moved in,” you said. She laughed and took a sip of her drink. “Yeah. We’ve gotten to the sharing a room stage very recently.”
“You must be very special then,” she said. “He was never gonna fall in love ever again. Told Jared and me himself. Now he’s as lovestruck as the first time around.”
“I’m not expecting…” you said, sipping on your drink. “Don’t tell him I said that.”
“Like I said, we can be friends without the boys,” she said. “What aren’t you expecting?”
“This,” you said with a shrug. “Marriage. Kids of my own. I don’t know where it goes with Jensen.”
“You should start having those talks with him,” she said, your head shaking. “You have to, just so you’re on the same page.”
“I don’t even know if we’re reading the same book,” you said. She nodded and you slumped back into your seat. “I know I love him and that he loves me. But I don’t know if that’s enough.”
“A friend once told me that’s all you need,” said Jensen behind you. You turned around and Jensen was standing there, a sad smile on his face. “We wanted to come hang out with you guys. Y/N?”
You got a smile from Gen as you followed Jensen inside, Jared slipping past and out back. You crossed your arms and looked down, Jensen stepping close to you, large hands resting on your arms.
“Why don’t you think it’s enough?” he asked quietly.
“It is. Gen and I were just shooting the shit,” you said, forcing your gaze up. He slid his hand down and took one of yours, pulling you over to a quiet sitting room. He sat down on a day bed, you going with him.
“Honey. Tell me the truth.” He ran his thumb over the back of your hand as you crossed your legs. “Did I do something?”
“No. You’re perfect,” you said, glancing down to your lap. “All I was saying was...I don’t know where you stand on some things.”
“Like what?” he asked, still smiling softly, hiding all of the nerves underneath it.
“Kids. Marriage. The fact your family has never once met me or knows I exist. Am I just gonna be the nanny girlfriend or is there something more? I love you. I fucking love and I don’t need or want...I just want to know if you’re open to those things.”
“I don’t know,” he said. You nodded and moved your hand back into your lap, Jensen letting go of it. “Is that a deal breaker?”
“No,” you said with a shake of your head. “Like I said, we were shooting the shit.”
You were both quiet before you stood, Jensen grabbing your hand. He pulled you back to sit, plopping you straight down in his lap before kissing you.
“Okay I do know but the answers fucking scare me,” he said. “I said I was gonna stop being scared when it came to you.”
“Jensen, you don’t have to-”
“Yes, I would have more kids if it were with the right person. Preferably sooner than later but yes. Yes, I would marry again. Yes, I would introduce her to my family and yes they do know about her. Not as much as I’d like but they do know her. And lastly yes, I am open to more than just the nanny girlfriend, so much fucking more. All of it more. But that scares me that almost a year later here I am, open to all of those things, wanting those things with you when losing Dee hurt so much. It’s not fair to you that this isn’t how it’s supposed to be, simple and normal and just the fun parts. I’m sorry.”
“I’m not asking you to stop loving her. God if you ever did, I don’t think you’d be the man I love. I just wanted to know if there’s room for a future in there maybe,” you said.
“You kinda got in there all on your own and I don’t want you to ever come out,” he said.
“Ever?” you breathed out. “Cause that implies-”
“If someone’s gonna be that second person for me, I think…” he said, looking down. You rested your forehead against his, Jensen taking a deep breath. “I know you won’t wait for me forever to get my shit together.”
“Well, forever’s a long time. I can offer a few years at least?” you asked, Jensen laughing dryly. “What?”
“I don’t deserve a few years. Your emotions aren’t a toy to play with.”
“Yours aren’t something to drag along when they’re not ready.”
“See? You do that shit. You always do that fucking shit,” he said, his voice a few octaves higher. You wrapped him up in a hug, feeling a few drops of wetness hit your cheek. “I’m sorry.”
“For crying? Jesus Jens, it’s okay,” you said. “I promise it’s okay.”
“It’s not okay. I keep tossing you around like you don’t have feelings too, like this isn’t hard for you too. It’s always me and my fucking problems with just…”
“Just what honey,” you said, Jensen holding onto you tightly, chin resting on your shoulder.
“I can’t,” he said.
“Why not?” you said, carding your fingers through his hair.
“I don’t want this to go away,” he mumbled out. “This is it and I feel like I’m gonna explode and-”
“Shush,” you said, wrapping your legs around his waist and squeezing his whole body as much as you could. He stilled briefly and calmed down some, sniffling to himself before you released to a gentler hold on him. “Just the anxiety talking.”
“I love you,” he said, lifting his head up, looking you straight on. “I want to marry you. I want to have kids with you and do everything with you. I’ve known those things for a very long time. Longer than you have and before you even thought of them as questions. I want all that and you’re gonna get stuck with me, with this, with the never ending baggage, with the baggage you haven’t even seen yet. All your life is gonna be is taking care of my ass and you getting hurt because of it. Is that what you want? Is it? Because I want so much fucking more for you than me.”
“Was that your proposal speech?” you asked calmly. He blinked a few times and narrowed his eyes.
“What? Y/N I-”
“Well you said you want to marry me and yeah, I fucking want to do that with you too so was that your speech?”
“What?” he asked so innocently you smiled. “I don’t…”
“I happen to like taking care of your ass. So. You want me gone, I’m gone. You want me to stay, I’m staying forever. What’s it gonna be?” you asked.
“Stay,” he said quietly with a nod. “Please don’t go away from us.”
“Okay,” you said. He leaned forward and kissed you, sniffling some more when he broke off. “Are you…”
“I can’t believe I just asked that while I’m covered in tears and snot,” he said. A box of tissues suddenly flung itself through the doorway, landing near your feet. You stared down at it and started to laugh, Jensen chuckling while you picked it up. “I’m never living that down.”
“Who gives a fuck,” you said. You took out a tissue and wiped off his face and eyes, having him blow his nose a few times. “That’s really gross.”
“I know.”
“Must be how you know it’s meant to be,” you said, wiping your hand off.
“Stay forever?” he asked.
“Yeah,” you said quietly. “Yeah that sounds good.”
“Me too,” he said. He pulled you into a hug and you held him tight, the door sneakily shutting on the two of you when it started to pour outside and you heard the backdoor. “I bet that’s how you imagined that going.”
“I never thought it would happen,” you said. “Not when I first came here. Love’s for other people. Normal people with normal families.”
“Fuck normal,” he said and you laughed. You picked up a clean tissue and licked it, wiping off a dried tear streak on his cheek. “I feel good.”
“We’re gonna work on that bottling shit up stuff, okay?” you said.
“Maybe you’ll have more success than Dee did,” he chuckled.
“I’ll just have to build off what she started,” you said. He nodded and cupped your cheek as you finished cleaning him off. “There, all better.”
“Guess you’re out of a nanny job,” he said.
“Oh such a shame,” you said. “I’ve been putting my paychecks for the last while to a separate account.”
“I did notice that,” he said. “Saving for something?”
“Wanted to give it back to you.”
“Honeymoon fund instead?”
“Okay, now we’re talking,” you said with a laugh.
“You never did tell me how much your book deal got you.”
“I signed a multi-year deal. They think there’s great potential for it to be one of those series every kid reads. One million for around twenty books?”
“Fuck. You should be my agent if you can negotiate like that,” he said.
“I’m still gonna take care of them like I have been,” you said.
“I know. It’s probably going to be a million times harder now actually,” he said. You nodded and he smiled. “You love them.”
“Yes but I don’t know how to be a parent.”
“Just do what you’ve been doing and it’ll be fine,” he said. “It’ll change but it’ll be good.”
“Not really how I was expecting today to go,” you said.
“Me either. I had hoped for that to be a tad more romantic,” he said. You gave him a kiss and hug, Jensen returning it. “You don’t care.”
“Nah,” you said. “Just care about you. Everything else, I’m good.”
“Want to go share the news with our eavesdropper?” he asked. You helped him up to his feet and took his hand, walking out of the room, Jared and Gen suspiciously wiping down their kitchen counter. “Or should I say eavesdroppers.”
“We were concerned and I swear we left after Jared tossed the tissues in,” said Gen. Jared shook his head and pointed at her. “I swear he did it.”
“Guess you guys heard then,” said Jensen, giving you a smile. “We’re gonna give it a shot.”
“You okay?” asked Jared. Jensen nodded and squeezed your hand. “You sure?”
“I know what I want,” said Jensen. “I’ve known for a long time. Finally got over being scared is all.”
“She wasn’t gonna hurt you,” said Jared with a smile.
“I know. It was a different fear,” he said.
“I’m not going anywhere,” you said. “Promise.”
“You better not, sweetheart.”
It was dark by the time the storms had passed, all three kids going down easy after spending most of the day running around the Padalecki house. You sat on the balcony off of Jensen’s bedroom in the oversized lounge chair, Jensen sat on the other side of the small side table your drink rested on.
“I’ve never been on a boat before,” you said, staring up at the dark night sky, the only light coming from a few string ones Jensen had turned on.
“Never?” asked Jensen. “Better wear your life jacket tomorrow then.”
“You better wear your life jacket,” you said. “We both know I’m a better swimmer than you.”
“You’re a better swimmer than me? Me?” he chuckled. “No way.”
“Put your money where your mouth is. Five bucks says I’m a better swimmer,” you said. He waved the way towards the door and you stood up, walking downstairs and outside.
“Uh, you missing something?” he chuckled. You smirked and pulled off your shirt and undid your jeans, shimming out of them and leaving them by the patio. “You really think…”
“I really think what?” you said, tossing your bra at him, leaving your underwear behind. You jumped in and swam out to the deep end. “You’re already losing Jensen.”
“Losing my ass,” he said, taking off his shirt and jeans, nearly tripping as he hopped out of his boxer briefs. He jumped in nearby and swam over to you, dunking his head under briefly. “I could get used to this look.”
“Nothing you’ve not seen before.”
“Never seen my fiance naked before,” he grinned. You rolled your eyes but swam over and gave him a kiss. “I knew you had a thing for dorks you know.”
“Did you now?”
“Told me yourself. Not a fan of cocky guys I recall.”
“Well...a little cock is okay. Highly recommended in fact,” you said.
“You are such a loser,” he laughed.
“I must have learned it from you.” You giggled and swam back to the shallow end, Jensen lazily chasing after. “I’ve never skinny dipped until just now actually.”
“Got anything on your bucket list you want to try out?” he asked. You shrugged and took a seat on a step, Jensen settling in next to you. “Naked trounce on the trampoline?”
“Maybe another time,” you said. You leaned back and looked up at the dark sky once more. He reached over and held your hand in the water, playing with it quietly. “Skydiving would be cool. Space would be cool.”
“One of those is a lot more feasible than the other. I noticed up in Canada where we had more stars at night you really like looking at them.”
“Did it a lot as a kid. Kinda always have,” you said. “I like space as much as the next gal but it’s just pretty, you know? You’re one little speck out in all of those stars. It’s all so freaking complex but you can kinda look up at them and it’s just so simple too.”
“Yeah,” he said, toying with a strand of hair floating in the water. “I get that.”
You turned and found him staring at you, a smile on his lips.
“We could go camping sometime, see all the stars there are up there if you’d like,” he said.
“We don’t have to do that,” you said.
“Why?” he asked quietly. “I’m curious is all. It seems like something you’d really enjoy seeing.”
“What purpose does it serve though? It’s not something fun for the kids to experience,” you said. “It’s a waste of money.”
“It doesn’t have to have a purpose. It’s for you, for us. A night away where you get to see something most people don’t ever get a chance. That’s the only purpose,” he said. “Camping’s about the cheapest thing you can do. Don’t worry about the money. You don’t have to worry about that ever again.”
“I just don’t want to go camping,” you said. You looked down and swallowed. “I used to go camping with my dad a lot.”
“Oh. I’m sorry.”
“You didn’t do that to me,” you said. “I just...I don’t think I ever want to go again.”
“Okay. Would you go camping with me sometime?” he asked.
“Jensen-”
“Just me. No body else. I won’t even touch you except to cuddle,” he said. You nodded and he smiled. “Thank you. It won’t be scary this time. I promise.”
“Is your dad nice?” you asked. He leaned back against his elbows and nodded. “Does he know about me?”
“My parents know I have a girlfriend. My mom knows I was getting pretty serious about you,” he said.
“Do they know I was the nanny? Or how old I am?”
“No. My siblings do but not my parents,” he said. You sat up and wrapped your arms around yourself in the warm night air. “I’m not embarrassed of you Y/N. I think that’s a conversation better had in person is all.”
“You haven’t told them because you think they’ll have a problem with it,” you said.
“Not as much problem as when I say I’m not having a prenup,” he said. You turned your head and saw him smiling back. “I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t trust you completely.”
“Jensen I don’t want to cause a problem,” you said. He shook his head and you sighed. “I know how close you are with them and you haven’t gotten to see them since Christmas. I know exactly what they’re gonna think of me when they hear about the former nanny.”
“You don’t seem to understand yet that you? Nobody is more important than you and those three in there. If they can’t accept you then screw ‘em.”
“Jensen.”
“I’m not worried and you know why? I love you and you love me. I know they love me a whole lot too so you’re on the same side.”
“You’re a bad liar,” you said. He sat up and sighed. “Jens-”
“I don’t know how they’ll act. But you deserve a chance and that’s what I expect out of them. I want them to love you too but at a minimum you’ll have their respect.”
You nodded and sunk down in the warm water, Jensen sliding over and taking a seat on your lap, tossing his arms around your shoulders.
“You still talk to Dee’s parents right?” you asked. He nodded and wrapped his legs loosely around your waist. “Do they…”
“No,” he said quietly. “They deserve for that to be an in person conversation too. They’re coming up soon for JJ’s birthday soon. I figured I’d tell them then.”
“I’m glad you still talk to them,” you said. “They still see you guys.”
“Christmas was hard last year. I’m not sure which one of us got it worse,” he said.
“I’d like to meet them if that’s okay.”
“Yeah,” he breathed out. “I’m not sure how they’ll react honestly.”
“I’d still like to,” you said, stepping out into the water with him, Jensen hanging off of you. “If only you were this light normally I’d carry you around all day.”
“Didn’t we agree a long time ago you were the badass princess after all,” he said, bumping his nose against yours.
“Here I thought you’d be taller,” you teased, quickly kissing him.
“Little shit,” he grinned. He nuzzled your cheek and you let out a deep breath. “Don’t worry about them.”
“At least we don’t have to go through this on my side,” you said.
“Can I ask one thing of you?”
“What?”
“Ray, your mom’s boyfriend, did things end badly between the two of you or you just drift apart? You said you left when you finished high school.”
“I stopped talking to him awhile ago. I moved out at 18 when I got my first nanny job. He was dating his wife Sarah by then. I’d come over for dinner every few months for a few years. By the time I was twenty one they were married with two kids. I didn’t go one time and kept putting it off and Ray told me it was okay if I didn’t want to see him anymore. I could call him if I ever needed him, that sort of thing. I haven’t spoken to him in nine years. But that’s not asking something of me, is it.”
“Can we consider inviting him to the wedding?”
“Been engaged eight hours and already planning?” you asked.
“I don’t know him but he had a part in raising you. Just consider it is all I ask. And wedding? Those things take fucking forever to plan, trust me.”
“I’ll think about it,” you said, spinning him around in the water. “Are they really that complicated to put together?”
“Nah. Don’t go bridezilla on me is all,” he said.
“Total diva over here,” you said, feeling the edge of the shallow end start to drop off with your foot. You spun around one more time before you had to set him down, Jensen taking the chance to pick you up and toss you out of of the water. “Jensen! I’m naked!”
“I know. It’s awesome,” he said, swimming out and kissing your cheek. “Wanna race?”
“Winner gets to do whatever they want to the loser when we head upstairs?” you grinned.
“Oh, you’re so on.”

Hi, Ary, very inactive ex-mutual(i think???) here. Good to see you thriving! ♥ It's been a while since I've dipped my head into cockles stuff. Could I perchance maybe ask uuuuum tf is going on??? lol I see Mish apparently confirmed he used to stay over at Jensen's in Van, and heard newbs were apparently freaking out about it and getting a bit messy, which I get that, business as usual. But I'm also seeing shit about spin-offs? And Jared getting in a twitter fight with Jensen, causing/resulting in stans to going feral and sending hate?? I know you're not as big a fan of Jar, but that's part of why I figured I'd ask you, you usually have a really level head about this kinda stuff. If you don't wanna answer publically, or at all, that's totally chill!
Hey, Rhi! We're still mutuals! Of course we're still mutuals! When I saw the notification of your ask, I was like "Hey! I haven't seen you in a while!" and my husband was like "???" and I said "Tumblr" and he said "Oh."
It was a wild time haha.
In any case, welcome back to the dumpster fire! We are obviously still a mess. So to catch you up, I guess I will start by summarizing both before and after the finale (not sure where you left off so this might be redundant for you) ... basically, it became obvious as the end of the show neared that Jensen was not on board with the plan for the finale; although Jared never stopped singing its praises.
We got confirmation of this during a zoom interview where Jensen said that he actually went into the writers room as well as called Kripke to basically voice how he didn't agree with the direction the final season was going, but he was shot down on all fronts. In another interview, he was asked "What would you tell your younger self going into this career?" And Jensen responded with: "I would tell myself to just keep your head down and do the work" meaning, "Don't try to change things because you can't." I also think that this whole situation is what he wrote "Let Me Be" about for his first Radio Company album, but that is just my own speculation. All of his reluctance, even though he always followed it up with "But I eventually saw the value in the script" or "I came around in the end" (which never sounded sincere, and I don't think he was really trying to sound sincere) made us all very nervous about what was to come for 15x20; and of course, when the last two episodes aired, we saw just how badly they fucked it up.
After the awful finale, the entire fandom became aware of the CW's heavy handed role in the thing, basically squeezing all the life out of SPN to shape it into a ramp from which Walker could launch itself. They not only erased all the love and joy and representation that Cas's love confession gave us, they also tore apart the things that made sense about the bond between Sam and Dean, making it really just about Sam-- and therefore Jared, which of course, Jared seemed to be fine with ... even though no one else was. Misha barely said anything during the finale, and a few of the other actors talked about the show ending in various posts, but Jared tweeted up a storm ... and Jensen? Jensen just sat in sexy-silent resentment of the whole thing. He didn't tweet, he didn't post, he didn't say a word once he no longer had to, and I think that's because he was already going full-steam-ahead on his plans for redemption.
Which brings us to Chaos Machine-- Jensen and Danneel's new production company that is being run by a queer creative director and has a mantra of inclusivity and representation woven throughout it's fabric; and apparently, the first story that Jensen wanted to tell through this new platform is the origin story of Sam and Dean's parents; so last week (?) he announced the upcoming production of "The Winchesters" -- the untold love story of John and Mary. Obviously, John is not the most likable character from the show, so the idea was met with a lot of resentment when it was first announced, but Jensen has gone on to say that he is excited to take on the task of telling the "true" story behind these characters-- the one that makes sense with the pre-established canon and doesn't reject it. So, given that, the idea is being mulled over with a bit more optimism from the fandom.
Who isn't being optimistic though?
Jared Padalecki.
When Jensen made this announcement on Twitter, many of his friends and coworkers congratulated him, but not Jared. Jared responded with a passive aggressive: "I'm happy for you, man, but I wish I didn't hear about it through Twitter." This of course, sent all the die-hard Jared fans into a tizzy and they immediately began asking him if he was serious (hoping it was just a joke-- we all hoped it was because there would be fallout no matter what one's opinion on Jared is). Instead of leaving it there though or just deleting that tweet, Jared went on to tweet some more, saying that he was being serious that he didn't know about the plans for the prequel, and that he was "gutted" that Sam apparenlty wouldn't be included (mind you, this a prequel to SPN... meaning BEFORE Sam and Dean were even born, so how could Sam be included? But Dean is apparently narrating this story so maybe Jared thought Sam should be helping to narrate it? I don't know). But Jared being Jared couldn't just leave that there, he then went on to tweet at Robbie Thompson who was announced as a writer for "The Winchesters" so then Jared went off on him too, calling him "Brutus" and a "coward" acting like Robbie betrayed him (speculation is-- Robbie refused to write for Walker, so Jared is pissed that he essentially chose Jensen over him). He did fairly quickly, remove that tweet attacking Robbie, but of course the damage was done at that point. And it truly only took his first tweet calling out Jensen for some people to be like "Jared-- that sucks if you didn't know but why are you saying any of this publicly?"
As you might know, Jared has had issues in the past with posting hurtful things on social media, and has even used it as a tool for attack before-- calling out customer service agents and public workers that he felt have wronged him, which is bad enough ... but for him to then do the same thing to his best friend of well over a decade? Many people who had once liked him or at least gave him the benefit of the doubt (I used to ...) stopped after this latest twitter tantrum.
However, some people have suspected for some time that J2 had a falling out either shortly before the finale or just after. Their public/social media interactions have seemed awkward, stilted or even non-existent in moments that they normally wouldn't be. In the past year, when Walker premiered, Jensen didn't say much about his friend's new venture other than a "Congrats. buddy" here and there. Later, we learned that Jensen refused to work on the show ... Jared said he make him do it, drag Jensen to the set "kicking and screaming" which made many fans quirk up an eyebrow because, why would Jensen put up a fight unless the two weren't as close as they used to be? And then Jensen moved his family to Colorado (either permanently or for an extended period at least) which is notable considering how he moved to Texas seemingly to be closer to Jared, even buying a house that was near his. All this was just speculation though; but it wasn't until Jared's tweet complaining about not knowing about the prequel that the theories behind them falling out, became less theory and more fact.
The day after his twitter tantrum, Jared tweeted again-- not retracting his statements or apologizing, but instead saying that he and Jensen "talked" and were "all good". Jensen then tweeted too, parroting this statement to some degree, which only made the whole thing even more sour in the mouths of the fans. The fact that Jared didn't apologize for his outburst and throwing his friend under the bus, and also the fact that Jensen-- Mr. Sexy Silence, Mr. Never Tweets, Mr. Tech-Ignorant-and-Proud, actually had to POST SOMETHING saying that he and Jared made up, it just screamed OPTICS. It was obviously the work of agents and PR firms and lots of people going "Look, if you two keep beefing, that will mean the death of both of your projects. Even more people will stop watching Walker, and this SPN prequel will never get picked up due to the scandal." So, the two "made nice" publicly to quell the chaos, but in my opinion, it's all too little too late. Jared started a storm that he can't contain now with a little tweet, and it seems like he knows that too because before he talked about him and Jensen making up, he asked that people "not send threats". He could have just as easily said that he shouldn't have made this a public issue and that he's sorry, but instead, he continued to play the victim and stoke the flames by alerting us all to the damage he's done.
Now, like I said before-- I used to give him the benefit of the doubt. I don't think he's an awful human or that he deserves to be attacked or anything, but he is an adult man with very poor judgment and an obvious selfish-streak a mile wide. He should know better, and he should have more respect for his so-called "friends" and "brothers" than to make them targets to public ridicule. I have a hard time believing that Jensen still sees Jared the way he used to, and I wouldn't blame him a bit for wanting to pull away-- especially when he's moving on to so many new and exciting things. Jared certainly deserves happiness just as much as anyone else, but he went on twitter and basically asked for a scandal, and he got one.
The question is now-- was there a motive behind it? Was just looking for a reason to bring his and Jensen's falling out to light-- while making himself looking like the victim in the process? Or did he genuinely not know about the prequel and just decided to go about "not knowing" in the most toxic and hurtful way he could manage?
In any case, that is the drama ... that is the J2 insanity in a rather lengthy nutshell ... that is the tea ... and I hope it all makes sense.
But the good news out of all of this is, Cockles is thriving-- they are happy and in love and Jensen calls Misha "Babe" and Misha misses waking up to see Jensen in the morning, and they are just as cute and wonderful as can be.
So, I will end that there. I am so glad to see you back, and I hope I answered all your questions in a way that made sense ... I tried anyway!

Gathering my sydrian prompts in one post
Some of these were originally directed at people who asked for prompts, and others were AU ideas, so they go from extremely vague to way too detailed. I'm copying them all here for my own convenience, but if anybody is interested, please go ahead and use them, and let me know you did.
Any character's reaction to finding out about sydrian that we haven't seen. Specifically Abe, specially if they're present being adorable. Sydney sassing Abe is a bonus. I really wish we'd gotten more reactions.
Just Sydney and Adrian going around solving supernatural mysteries and being a cute couple
Bring Hopper back, somehow
Sydrian being good parents! I made one post in my sydrian tag about them adopting a bunch of kids and one about Adrian dressing Declan up as mini Adrian for events.
I know it's January August, but Halloween is a sydrian thing, so have them dress up as Gomez and Morticia (I also have a post about that lol). Maybe next Halloween they can be Westley and Buttercup
Adrian's pov on romantic scenes from the first books. The Golden Lily has so much angst potential, with how he's realizing he's falling for someone who was taught to believe he's evil, and The Indigo Spell has some amazing scenes.
People finding out about Sydney's magic. I think the existence of witches would probably be a bigger deal when Moroi found out about it.
Sydney's mom and Carly finding her, and discovering that she's married and everything else
Vow renewal ceremony with all the friends who couldn't be at the wedding. Maybe Declan carrying Hopper on a red pillow as he carries the rings.
Alt ending where they go to whatever escape plan of theirs is your favorite
Alt ending where they lead a rebellion against the alchemists, effect large scale change with the witches and ex-alchemists' help and liberate more reeducation centers
AU where Adrian is an architect who wants to do insane, impossible things and Sydney is an engineer who tries to make him be reasonable, or tries to make it work
Similarly, writer/editor AU
Childhood friends AU. I think his family could have an estate close to Sydney's house and they see each other every summer. They never mention their ties to the supernatural, and as Sydney gets older she's in denial about the fact that her friend is obviously a Moroi, and therefore she should stop being his friend. That interrogation scene in Last Sacrifice is the first time Adrian saw her in a few years, and that's how he finds out she's an Alchemist, and by them he knows about Alchemists' beliefs.
Childhood rivals AU
All human AU where he helps her dismantle the cult her dad leads
Trying to explain to her human friends from Palm Springs that she didn't marry her brother
Paint fights. I like them.
Neil comes back, and they get scared that he wants Declan back
Dealing with Sydney's PTSD and Adrian's mental health, preferably ending in hopeful note, with healthy coping mechanisms and communication
AU where Sydney is a mechanic working for her mom and Adrian finds excuses to come over, and let's her drive the Ivashkinator.
Regency fake marriage AU where they elope so Sydney won't have to marry a creep Jared tried to set her up with, and then they mutually pine
Art thieves au, either Sydney is the investigator, or they're a team, or one evolving into the other
AU where Sydney is living with her recently widowed sister Carly, after her husband Keith died suddenly, and she just happens to be an expert on poisons. The life expectancy of abusive husbands drops sharply. Adrian starts to figure it out, but he's moved tohelp her get away instead of turning her in.
That last one could be paired with a pen-pals AU, where they become close friends and develop feelings through letters but don't really know each others' identity. I think it could start with Sydney requesting a book she needs, and Adrian sends it to her with a quippy note, and in her thank you letter she can't stop herself from making a thinly veiled sarcastic reply. They keep up the back and forth because they find each other funny. I can maybe insert bi!Adrian into the narrative by not having him know she's a woman, and just trying to very subtly suss out if his pen pal might be into men. If they end up in the same city (like if you pair it with the one above) being convinced that she's a male researcher could justify why he doesn't figure out that she's his pen pal when it starts getting obvious.
Silver Shadows Fake marriage AU where Lissa is right and the wedding in Silver Shadows was just to protect her. I think I might have a longer post on that already. Sydney was sent to re-education for something else, and Adrian breaks her out. They love each other but aren't couple, and he doesn't wnt her to be with him out of gratitude, while she feels bad about how she rejected him,or for the things she said in re-education. When they leave court to find Jill they keep finding excuses for why they have to keep up the fake marriage.
Old Hollywood fake marriage AU where Adrian's reputation is in danger (maybe because he's bi and his break up with his last boyfrind got some attention, causing speculation), so the studio has him marry Sydney for good publicity. Maybe late 1940's, early 50's? I initially thought Sydney could be screenwriter struggling to get proper credit for her work as woman, but actually, it would be just like Sydney to start taking on a lot of jobs and managing everything, becoming a de facto producer who had to learn everything on the job and gets no credit.
Youtuber AU where Adrian watches Sydney's art history video to pass a test, and he keeps watching her talk about any nerd topic because he likes her, and her excitement about knowledge is cute. She watches Adrian and Rowena's art channel, and loves seeing him paint and how passionate he is about it. I just really like how they make heart eyes at each other whenever one of them is passionate about something in the books. Cassie can have a cooking channel, and teach Adrian how to cook for their first date.

Re-watching Lizzie Mcguire: Episode 2.10 (Working Girl)
Lizzie unintentionally breaking the fourth wall
- Have we already established the fact that Lizzie (not Hilary) is a really bad actress? She tries to butter her parents up by giving them compliments to get them to kindly raise her allowance. But of course, they are able to see right through her and give her a big fat NO. Lizzie is fuming!
Poor Miranda!
- The natural thing for Lizzie to do after this is to then vent to her friends at the Digital Bean. Miranda spots a ‘busboy wanted’ sign in the distance and tries to tell Lizzie that she could get a job to pay for her things. Lizzie is too busy in her rant to even notice what she’s trying to tell her but for some strange reason, when Gordo points it out to her instead, she suddenly pays attention and hears him out. Weird.
- Anyways, Lizzie easily gets the job and her first day is tomorrow. She thinks it’s going to be a piece of cake. Don’t jinx it Lizzie...
- The next morning, Lizzie announces her new job to her parents and they are taken aback because they didn’t expect her to get one all of a sudden. They are also worried that she’s taking on too many responsibilities and there might be too much on her plate. I think it’s safe to say they’re probably right.
Lizzie Starts Her Job
- We skip to Lizzie on her first day working at the Digital Bean and she quickly realizes there’s a lot to do as the new busboy. And it doesn’t help that her manager seems to be a total nightmare to work for. She’s so bossy! I would hate having a manager like her.
- And it doesn’t get better from then on because Lizzie is starting to get paranoid about her friends making even the smallest mess in the café because she has to be the one to clean up after them. But you know what, who could blame her? Especially when you have these two around:
Can these two ever get a life?
- And unsurprisingly, Lizzie’s manager demands that she cleans up the spill when it’s so obvious that Kate and Claire were the ones who purposely caused it. Lizzie is now starting to feel regrets about taking this job.
- The next day (which I’m assuming is a Saturday?), Sam notices Lizzie looking distraught about having to go to work and tells her she can always quit if she wants to. He also lets Lizzie know that she’s just a kid and the only responsibilities she should have is being a good student, a good friend and a good daughter. Now that’s really solid advice from Sam...and Jo (because she probably told him to convince Lizzie to quit)
Lizzie Quits After....3 Days?
Lizzie’s better than me. I would’ve thrown that spoon right at his face lol
- During her shift that day, she’s dealing with a bunch of difficult customers, which, again, includes Kate and Claire. On top of that, her supervisor (whatever her name is) is just soooo not being understanding or thoughtful towards Lizzie.
Also, if I were Lizzie, I would’ve popped Claire in her forehead and quit my job afterwards. Lizzie could’ve gotten really hurt thanks to her.
That guy totally deserved that
- Lizzie has had enough and decides to give everyone who did her wrong a piece of her mind. I’m glad she manage to get that all out of her system but because of her rant, Lizzie gets fired from her role as busboy at the Digital Bean. But you know what? Good on her!
- After getting the pink slip, Lizzie comes home and tells her friends what just happened. She actually seems relieved that she doesn’t have to deal with the stress from her job anymore. Even just watching her work makes me feel stressed out.
B-Plot: Miranda Doesn’t Like Breaking Young Boy’s Hearts
- Matt is currently feeling down in the dumps because he thinks that Melina doesn’t want to be friends with him anymore. Well, more like doesn’t like him anymore. He expresses this to his friend, Reggie, whom I don’t think we’ve been introduced to beforehand.
- It’s not so much that Melina doesn’t talk to him anymore. It’s more so that she hasn’t been getting Matt into any trouble recently. I mean, we all know that this weird relationship of theirs has pretty toxic tendencies. But she’s actually now focusing her attention on this other boy named Jared.
- Reggie suggests to Matt that he ask his sister, Lizzie for some advice as to why Melina has been treating him differently these days. Matt hesitates at first but he realizes that he really has no other choice.
This made me laugh so much. Matt literally insinuated that Jo isn’t a girl. I mean, she is a woman but I’m sure his mom more than qualifies.
- Matt then shows up at Lizzie’s job to tell her about his problem. But their conversation is cut short by Lizzie’s manager. She’s beginning to really annoy me.
It also doesn’t help that Lizzie can be quite clumsy sometimes...
- While Lizzie is busy being a total mess at work, Matt is lucky enough to be able to ask Miranda for advice instead since she is, indeed a girl. Miranda basically tells him that it’s Melina’s problem and how she isn’t able to realize how great of a kid Matt is. She also had to add that there are others girls who would be so lucky to go out with him. See how this is going?
Look at Matt’s face; He totally just misunderstood Miranda’s intention in everything she just told him lol
And now he’s gone full-blown stalker mode. Yikes!
- The next day, Lizzie, Miranda and Gordo come home from school to chill at Lizzie’s place but Matt uses this opportunity to give Miranda a ‘thank-you’ card:
Oh my word. Miranda better run for the hills hahahaha. Also, does the music have to be THAT dramatic when she opens his card? LOL
- It’s one thing to have crushes but Matt takes it to a whole other level. I get that he’s like 11/12 but still...
He’s also now calling her and sending her a bunch of balloons with his and her face on them.
- On their three way call, Miranda is asking Gordo for his advice on how to gently turn Matt down. To my surprise, Miranda still doesn’t want to hurt Matt’s feelings and actually agrees to go on a bike-riding date with him. To be honest, if I were Miranda, it would also be hard for me to turn him down. I’m not exactly sure why. It must be the people pleaser in me...
By the way, is it weird that I love Miranda’s outfit here? Very Avril Lavigne circa 2002.
His smile...
- The next day, with Gordo’s support, Miranda tries to work up enough courage to reject Matt but before she could let it out, Melina marches into the living room and confronts Miranda for ‘stealing her man’. Yikes, Miranda just got dissed by an 11 year old lmao.
Melina just proved to all of us that she likes Matt back. That’s sweet...in a twisted kind of way.
- Oh and just like how Gordo pointed out, it’s quite embarrassing that Miranda just got dumped by Matt of all people. Again, poor Miranda...
- There’s also one last surprise for Miranda. Apparently Matt had a cake made for her that Lizzie has taken out of the fridge. And because of that, she has no other choice but to act like a pig and eat the frosting of the cake with her bare hands just to prevent Lizzie from seeing what’s written on the cake. I would have done the same thing lol.
Overall Thoughts
- I found this episode to be one the funniest Lizzie Mcguire episodes so far. I felt like almost every scene either made me slightly chuckle or laugh out loud. From Lizzie’s short stint at the Digital Bean as a busboy to Matt’s sudden crush on Miranda, I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish.
- Honestly speaking, had Matt been able to dial down the craziness in terms of ‘pursuing’ someone just like he did with Miranda, he actually knows how to be a pretty romantic kid. No wonder Melina likes controlling being around him. And seeing her confronting Miranda like that and basically telling her that she’s just a rebound was hilarious to watch.
- Lizzie’s new job as the busboy was fascinating to watch because it’s the first time we see her working a job and taking on responsibilities outside the house and school. Even though she got fired, I can’t imagine anyone being able to put up with that bossy manager. Like if the busboy turnover rate is consistently high, surely that has something to do with the work environment and the people running the internet café, right? Or can they at least hire more busboys to spread out the workload? Solutions people!

Part Two
Presenting
The weeks prior to presenting were tense to say the least. You felt as if everyone was testing your patience, especially your twin brother, Ashton. You withdrew from your friends and family. The last thing you wanted was to get into screaming matches with your parents like Ash had been doing.
Despite the obvious signs, nobody expected you to present as an alpha. Female alphas are much rarer than male omegas. Although, presenting as an omega didn’t seem likely either. You were stronger willed than the omegas your family interacted with. Becoming a beta is what was expected of you. Albeit, doing what was expected of you was never really your thing.
Frankly, you would rather be a beta than an alpha. Your family held alpha’s to a higher standard compared to beta’s and omega’s. A standard you didn’t care to be held to. To be honest, your family was ridiculous when it came to alphas.
However, all thoughts of an easy going beta life flew out the window on your 16th birthday. Finally, the moodiness and the short fuse you had recently acquired made sense.
To say that this complicated things is an understatement. Presenting as an alpha completely changed your world. One day you were the girl who remained unseen in the background. Now, you’re the girl trying to survive your alpha father and alpha brother. Three alpha’s under one roof is recipe for disaster.
Senior Year
“I cannot wait until I can pack up and leave this place in my rear view mirror,” Ash grumbles walking beside you down the road. The further the two of you walked from home the less weight seemed to be on your shoulders.
“You need a car to have a rear view mirror,” You tease him while keeping a watchful eye on your younger siblings a little ways in front of you. Ash rolls his eyes and shoves his hands in his pockets. “All I want is to get out of that damn house. I don’t care where I go,” You comment with a small shrug.
It didn’t matter if you moved into the house next door or in an apartment on the other side of the world. As long as you weren’t under your parents roof, you would be happy. You craved independence. You craved separation from your parents. Yet you didn’t want to be too far from your siblings but at the same time you didn’t mind putting more distance between you and them.
“I’m not going to be able to listen to dad’s bullshit for very much longer,” You hum in agreement. You remember a time when your dad had been your hero. Now, you couldn’t wait to get as far as possible from the man.
Your father made it his mission to make you and your brother the toughest alpha’s in town not only mentally but physically as well. He’s even tried to make you both arrogant assholes, like typical alpha’s, with all his ‘alpha’s are above others’ speeches.
There was also a point in time when your father had tried to pin you and your brother against each other. You hated to admit that it worked for almost an entire year before the two of you figured out that you were stronger when you had each others backs.
“We just have to make it through graduation,” You tell him.
“Yeah,” Ash scoffs. “Another ten damn months,”
“No one said it was gonna be easy,”
A couple minutes later you were at the school. Your two younger siblings had dashed off but you didn’t care. You made sure they got to school, your job was over.
The moment you entered the high school you sensed something was different. You didn’t know what it was and tried to ignore the feeling but it was damn near impossible.
You caught yourself looking around as you and Ash walked to your lockers. You didn’t know what you were looking for but assumed you would know when, or if, you found it.
“Do you know if anyone presented alpha recently?” You ask your brother.
“God, I hope not,” Ash groans closing the door. “The last thing we need is another damn alpha walking around,”
There’s three other alphas in your school, excluding you and your brother. One of the alpha’s, Julian, is chill and keeps to himself. The other two, however, are always competing for top dog. The last thing this school needed was yet another alpha to add into the mix.
“Why do you ask?” Ash asks, the two of you walking to your first class.
“I don’t know,” You sigh. “I just feel like something’s different,” Ash glances at you but doesn’t say anything.
All throughout the day you felt on edge. Ash could pick up on your tenseness causing his own mood to turn more alert. It wasn’t until the end of the day did you find the answer to why the both of you were so apprehensive.
You and Ash were at your lockers preparing to leave school. Ash was suggesting that you went to The Dutch, a local bar and grill. It had been a long and tense day, the last thing he wanted to do was go straight home where the environment is even more stressful.
You muttered a response not really listening to what he was saying. Ash talked 90% of the day, whether you were in class or not, and you had learned to tune him out. Instead of paying attention to Ash, your eyes were trained down the hall. In the corner stands a shorter girl with beautiful, long, dark hair. She had your complete attention from the moment you laid eyes on her.
Unfortunately, you weren’t the only one with eyes on her. Andrew, one of the schools asshole alpha’s, had her in his sights. The moment he came into your eye sight you knew what he was planning. The thought of him even standing next to her angered you.
“Y/n, where are you going?” Ashton questions when you suddenly walk away. You don’t answer him. He grumbles but quickly follows after you. It wasn’t until you got closer to the girl did you realize that she’s an omega.
“I’m not interested,” She tells Andrew. You ignore the affect that her voice has on you.
“Not yet but I can change your mind,”
“What is it with you morons and not understanding the meaning of the word ‘no’?” You ask, gaining Andrew’s attention. He turns toward you. His eyes flicker from you to Ashton, who’s standing behind you. “No, means, no, asshole,” Andrew glares at you trying to be intimidating. However, you weren’t intimidated by boys trying to be men.
“Why don’t you just move along?” Andrew suggests, wanting to continue talking to the omega but also wanting to avoid you and Ash. “I’m trying to have a conversation with her,”
“You’re not exactly conversation material,” The girl speaks up. Your gaze, along with Andrew’s, returned to the smaller girl. She spoke to Andrew before her eyes flickered to you. The moment your eyes met, a small small comes to your lips. “The last thing I want to do is lose IQ points,” She comments, looking back at Andrew. She adjusts her bookbag on her shoulders and tries to talk around him but he quickly grabs her arm. The smile that had come to your face quickly washed away when you saw Andrew grab her as roughly as he had.
His hand only held her arm for a fraction of a second before you had removed it. Your hand grabbed his wrist tight enough to leave a nasty bruise. You twisted his arm until he was forced to release her and slammed him against the lockers.
Andrew easily got out of your grip but before things could escalate Ashton jumps between the two of you. Ash knew you could handle yourself against Andrew but he also didn’t want a fight breaking out. A fight would send you to the principle which would force your father to get involved which would end in a situation neither of you wanted to be in.
“Just walk away,” Ashton advices Andrew. “We wouldn’t want a repeat of Junior year, would we?” Andrew growls stepping forward but a teacher speaks up before anything could happen.
“Life would have been much simpler if I had just been a beta,” The girl whispers under her breath. You hummed in agreement. Your eyes glancing to her when you’re confident Andrew wasn’t going to attack your brother. “Thanks,” She says, looking up at you.
“You look like you could handle yourself,” You tell her with a small smile. She blushes a bit which causes your heart to soar. The longer you stood beside her the less confident you became. Not many people made you nervous but this girl could make you weak to the knees with a single glance.
“Genevieve,” She introduces herself. She holds her hand out and you stare at it for a moment. Ash gives you a gently shove which snaps you out of your haze. Gen giggles a bit when you hand reaches out and grips her tightly. “But you can call me Gen,” She giggles again when you shake her hand quickly.
“Gen,” You whisper, smiling softly. “Oh, uh, Y/n,” You stutter while releasing her hand with a blush. “That’s uh... that’s my name,” You hand brushes through your hair.
“I figured,” Gen continues to smile at you. “It’s nice to meet you,”
Date Night
“How does this look?” You ask, your younger sister.
“Like you’re trying too hard,” Naomi comments, hanging upside down on the edge of your bed.
“Really? I think I look cute,” You say standing in front of you full length mirror. You were wearing a nice dress. It’s the most feminine thing you’ve worn in a long time.
“You’re only going to the movies,” She tells you. “Besides, it doesn’t really look like you. You should wear some leggings and that cute jacket you got last month,”
“I’m with Naomi on this,” Ash says, walking into your room. You sigh but give in knowing they were more corradiated than you.
“If he coming to pick you up?” Naomi asks shifting onto her stomach when Ash sits beside her. You share a look with your twin.
“Uh, no,” You shake your head. “I’m meeting them at the movies,” You say carefully.
Ash is the only one that knows you were going on a date with a girl. On top of that it’s an omega that had asked you out. You could only imagine the shit show that would happen if your father found out. He would go on and on about how you needed to be with a man. Once he got past that he would tell you how un-alpha-like it is to be asked out by an omega. You, being the alpha, were the one who was supposed to ask the omega out.
You knew your younger siblings wouldn’t care but they also couldn’t keep a secret. The only concern your mother would have is the fact that she wouldn’t be able to satisfy your ruts and you wouldn’t be able to satisfy her heats. It wouldn’t be a problem now, or any time soon, but down the road you would need someone to help you.
You didn’t ant to think about that right now. You just want to have fun with Gen. You liked her a lot. You could run your hands through her soft hair all day. She smelled as if she had come straight from heaven. Her skin also felt very smooth and perfect against yours.
From the moment you two met you had grown to be very close. You would stay close during school and after school you would be together at her home. Her family was much more relaxed and open than yours.
The two of you had been cuddling in her bed while watching your favorite movie when she asked you out on a date. It had caught you off guard but you accepted.
Almost everything Gen did caught you off guard, in a good way. She was so unlike any omega you had met. She was outgoing and blunt. She could hold her own and didn’t need an alpha to cling too. She didn’t need you but she wanted you. You tended to be on the more reserved side but being around Gen brought you out more.
“What movie are you seeing?” Naomi asked. You answered all her questions as you finished getting ready. Ash picked out your shoes while Naomi helped with your makeup. You didn’t wear much makeup but a little bit to stand out.
“Good luck,” Ash says, helping you leave without being noticed by your parents. Your parents knew you were leaving but you didn’t want to go through 20 questions with them.
“Thank,” You smile at him before getting into your moms car and driving to the movies. You instantly found Gen. It was like there was this magnet on her that drew you to her. “You look amazing,” You compliment. She wasn’t wearing anything too fancy but it hugged her hips.
“Thank you,” She says before inspecting your new jacket. You did a spin causing her to grin even wider. “Adorable,” She says kissing your cheek causing you to blush. She links your arms and pulls you to the ticket booth with a little hop in her step. There you insisted, and won, on buying the ticket. She ended up buying the popcorn before the two of you took your seats.
Throughout the movie the both of you shared small, yet intimate, touches. You would hold hands or rest your hand on her thigh. Eventually you wrapped an arm around her. The touches only got worse when the movie was over and you drove her home. Her mother had dropped her off allowing you the opportunity to spend more time with her.
“Hey, Y/n?” Gen asks, glancing at you as you drive down the road. You hum sparing her a glance. “What happened junior year?” She asks.
“Can you be a little more specific?” You ask, with a small laugh. “Junior year was a long year,”
“Ash said something to Andrew about not wanting a repeat of Junior year... Remember?” Gen asks, your mind goes back to when you first noticed Gen. Gen and you have been in the same school for years but you didn’t truly notice her until she presented. When she did present she ended up being an omega. There’s only 7 omega’s in the school and of course she had caught Andrew’s attention.
“Junior year Ash, Andrew, and I were still pretty new at the whole alpha thing. We’re still not perfect but junior year our emotions and instincts were all over the place. At that time Ash and I weren’t talking. We were fighting constantly and it just wasn’t a good time for us.” You begin to explain to her. “Being an alpha our natural instinct is to be the alpha. It’s an instinct my father did everything he could to amplify,”
“Why?” Gen asks frowning her eyebrows. You let out a low sigh.
“My father expects Ash and I to be the top alpha in everything we do. One of the problems with that is that feeding into our newly heightened instincts with other alpha’s under the same roof only causes disruption and chaos. The three of us were constantly at each others throats and when we went to school Ash and I were still going at it but we were also going at Andrew as well,” Gen slowly nods not completely understanding but wanting to hear the rest of it. “One day Andrew and I came to blows. I think we were fighting over something like he had sat in my seat at the cafeteria.” You said not completely sure if that was true but it was close enough. “Anyways, Andrew is stronger and a better fighter, I didn’t really have a chance but I gave it my all. Ash saw what was happening and he jumped into the fight. The two of us could just tell what the other was about to do and we worked together fluently. Kicked Andrew’s ass,” You smirk a bit. “We not only asserted our dominance as head alpha’s in the high school but it’s the first time Ash and I started to mend our relationship and work together,”
“So, now you and Ash are ok?” Gen asks. “You two seem to get along great,”
“Yeah, it took us a while to get to where we are now but now it’s just natural,” You shrug. “It’s like I have this sixth sense when it comes to Ash and him to me. Sure we have our competitive streaks but it’s all good natured,” Gen smiles at you and you glance at her. “Did I tell you that you look beautiful tonight?” You ask.
“Maybe once or twice,” Gen smiles widely. You smirk pulling into her driveway.
“I had a really great-” You said, turning your head towards her. The instant you looked at her, her lips were on yours. The two of you had yet to get out of the car and had to lean over the middle console.
Her lips were soft compared to your chapped ones. Her sweet scent seemed even more intense while kissing her. You wondered how she could get any more perfect.
“I had a great time too,” Gen whispers pulling back. “And you look just as beautiful,” She winks at you.
You didn’t care what you had to do, you had to keep her. You’d known her a little less than four months yet you were completely smitten. You were in this for the long haul.
Caught
“Hi Gen!” Naomi shouts, when you and Gen enter the house. Gen barely greets her back before your little sister darts into the next room.
“Omi! Get back here, you little shit!” You other little sister, Haley, practically screams as she races after the youngest.
“Come on,” You place an innocent hand on Gen’s back. You gently push her towards your room. The two of you have been together for a couple of months and have successfully kept it from your parents and younger siblings. Honestly, if Naomi wasn’t so gullible, you would have been found out by now.
“Are your parents home?” Gen asks, you shake your head.
“No, probably won’t be for a while,” You tell her. You shut the bedroom door behind you.
“Good,” Gen smiles turning to you. You match her grin and pull her close. “I’ve been wanting to kiss you,”
“No ones stopping you,” You whisper leaning down to connect your lips to hers. Gen cups the back of your neck and presses her hand against you chest as she leans into you. You tighten your grip around her waist. “You smell so good,” You whisper burying your head in her neck.
“Come on, we have to get started on this project,” Gen reminds you. You whine refusing to let her go. Gen laughs quietly and doesn’t attempt to leave your snug embrace.
“We can start tomorrow,” You whisper.
“Oh, no, we’re not procrastinating on this,” Gen says wiggling away from you causing you to pout. “Let’s get this started and then we can cuddle,”
“You drive a hard bargain,” You wink at her. Gen rolls her eyes and sits on your bed. You smirk and move in behind her. “Are you sure we can’t start a little later?” You ask, brushing all of her hair to one side. “Surely, we’re smart enough to get it done in a little bit,” Gen tilts her head a bit as your lips lightly press against her skin. “You’re certainly smart enough. You’re a junior in a senior science class,”
“It’s not that impressive,” Gen whispers. “There’s plenty of juniors in senior classes,”
“I’m lucky to be in the 12th grade, it’s impressive,” You tell her. “You’re so smart,” You praise. “So beautiful, kind and funny.. So talented,” Your lips travel up her neck as you hand gently grabs her chin. “So mine,”
“Alpha,” Gen whines causing you to growl and press your lips to hers. She falls back on the bed and you shift follow after her. Your entire focus was on her that you didn’t even notice your father coming to your room to talk to you.
“Y/n-” He barely gets your name out when he opens your door. Your head pulls away from Gen’s quickly and snaps towards him. Both you and Gen tense. You father looks at you in shock but the shock quickly turns into anger. “What in the damn hell is going on here?!” He shouts.
You and Gen jump off the bed. Your protective instincts kick in and you stand in front of her. She grips the back of your shirt. Her distress only amplifies your protectiveness.
“I can explain-” You try to say but your father isn’t in a listening mood. You watch as his face begins to glow red and his eyes narrow.
“The fuck were you doing with her?!” Cyrus, your father, shouts. You knew that if you tried to lie it would only be worse. You had to come clean.
“I was kissing her... my girlfriend,” You add, quietly. A deep, threatening growl leaves his chest. Your hand reaches back to rest against Gen. The movement was not only to reassure you that she was behind you but an attempt to calm you down. Gen always had a calming affect on you but with your father radiating threatening vibes being calm is the last thing on your mind.
“Girlfriend?!” He shouts marching up to you. You growl back trying to warn him to stay back.
“Yes, girlfriend!” You shout back not liking being threatened. “She’s my girlfriend, my omega!”
“She’s a girl! She cannot be your omega!”
“She is,” You tell him clenching your fists. “I know she’s my omega, my true mate.” You state with absolute certainty. You knew that same sex true mates aren’t nonexistent but they certainly weren’t heard of.
“A female alpha is never mated to an omega female! It doesn’t work!”
“It does. We work.” You insist. “She’s my girlfriend and I’m not letting her go,”
“Oh, yes you are. No daughter of mine will ever be with another girl! You’re an alpha, you need to be with a beta or male omega.”
At this point your family is gathering in the doorway. Your two little sisters were poking their heads in but mainly hiding behind the wall in the hallway. Your father took intimidation and scary to a whole new level when he’s angry. Even your mother was using the wall as a hiding spot. Your brother, however, was standing in the center of the doorway ready to help defend you and Gen if need be.
“Fuck who you think I’m supposed to be with,” You spit. “I want to be with Gen and she wants to be with me,” You growled. “And I’m not going to let you get in between us,”
“Y/n!” Gen shouts when your father grabs you shirt, rips you away from Gen and pins you against the wall. You growl slamming your head into his and manage to shove him away. He doesn’t go far but far enough for you to duck away and move from the wall.
“Alright, let’s just calm down!” Ash shouts getting between you and your father.
“Step down,” Cyrus, demands staring you twin brother down. Ash glares back fighting against the urge to move away. “I said, step down,” Cyrus snapped grabbing the back of Ash’s neck and tossing him to the side.
“Hey!” You shout shoving him away from your brother.
However, tossing him from Ash made Cyrus get closer to Gen which you didn’t like. You held your hand out and Gen instantly comes to your side. Her fingers intertwine with yours. Her arm hugs your arm while she steps a bit behind you.
“I love Gen,” You tell him as he regains his stability. “I’m going to stay with her for as long as she’ll have me. There’s nothing you can do,”
Cyrus steps toward you and lashes out. Gen whimpers holding you tightly as a stinging pain comes to your cheek. Before he could do anything else Gen is moving in front of you. She’s trembling despite the strong look she tries to display. Your heart swells at her trying to protect you but you didn’t want your father hurting her either.
“I won’t let you hurt her,” Gen whispers, pressing her back into your chest wanting to stay as far away from him but wanting to protect you as well. Cyrus is obviously taken back by Gen. Omega’s aren’t normally the ones protecting the alpha. In his eyes it’s just another disgraceful act while it only makes you fall more in love with her.
“You either get rid of Gen or you leave,” He tells you. Your heart drops. You knew he would be made but you never expected him to give you this ultimatum. You didn’t want to make the choice despite already know what you would choose.
“Dad, please,” You whisper moving back in front of Gen. “I love her and I love this family, please don’t make me choose,” You beg him. “I’m still your daughter, loving Gen doesn’t change that,”
“This is not how I raised you. This is not how an alpha is supposed to act.” Cyrus tells you. “This is unacceptable and I will not have you disgracing this family. Get rid of Gen or move out,” Cyrus says. He stands there for a moment before pushing past you and into the hall.
“Baby,” Gen whispers, moving in front of you. Your zoned out eyes focus on her. “I don’t want to get in between you and your family-”
“You are my family,” You whisper. “You’re my omega, I know you are,” You say confidently. “Am I your alpha?” You ask, trepidatiously.
“Yes, you are,” Gen nods, caressing your cheek. Her eyes soften as she looks at your reddened cheek. “I just want you to be happy... I don’t want to take you from them,” She nods towards your brother, sisters and mother.
“I’ll talk to him, ok?” Molly, your mother, speaks up, coming up to you. You stare into Gen’s eyes for a moment before turning to her. “You are not disowned and you do not have to leave Gen,” Molly gives your girlfriend a smile.
“I don’t think I can stay here mom,” You tell her. “Even if you do talk him down, things are only going to keep getting worse. Him and Ash are already to a boiling point, this is only going to push all of us over the edge. I’m not staying,”
“I don’t know how I’m going to be able to stay either,” Ash growls.
“There’s only a couple more months, just avoid him,” You advice him.
“Easier said than done,” Ash grumbles still seething at the fact that Cyrus had attacked you, again.
“I’ll keep him from you, just don’t leave yet,” Molly pleads hating the fact that her mate is chasing her children away. Ash’s face softens slightly towards his mother. He sighs but nods agreeing to stay just a little longer for her sake. “Where will you go?” Molly asks, wanting to make sure you went somewhere safe.
“She can come with me,” Gen says. You open your mouth to object but she doesn’t let you. “My mother adores you, so do my siblings. They’d love to have you around,” Knowing you needed somewhere to go, you agree.
“I love you,” Molly whispers, hugging you when you made your decision. “I’ll talk to your father, you and Gen are always welcome here,” She promises.
Claiming
“Happy birthday, baby,” Gen whispers waking you up with her light kisses. You smile snuggling into her chest. She grins holding your larger figure the best she could.
“Skip school,” You mumble. “Spend the day with me,” Gen smiles kissing the top of your head.
You and Gen have been together for over a year. You’ve graduated high school while Gen is halfway through her senior year. The two of you lived in Gen’s mother’s home. You’ve lived there since your father kicked you out.
Your mother stayed true to her word and talked to him. It took him months to even talk to you and even longer to invite you back. You never accepted his offer. The two of you had a very tense relationship and you didn’t want to go back to living under his roof with his rules.
The second you and Ash graduated, Ash moved out. He moved out of the house and out of the state. You still talk daily but you hadn’t seen him in a little bit. However, you felt happy knowing that he’s happy and much more relaxed.
While you would rather move out of this small town you were happy to be with Gen. Her mother and siblings absolutely adored you. Her two brothers were beta’s while her sister and mother were omega’s.
Having you, an alpha, around brought a sense of peace to the household. Your presence comforted the other omega’s. They felt more relaxed, more secure with you around than before you moved in. It didn’t matter that you were only romantically involved with Gen, you were still an alpha and they were still omega’s. Your presence comforted them in a way beta’s, like the brothers, couldn’t quite understand.
It took a while to gain the brother’s trusts but when they realized how much weight lifted off of their mother’s shoulders with your company and how you protective you were of the sister’s you quickly gained their approval.
At your family home you were constantly fighting to be alpha. Here, however, you quickly earned the position of alpha when you gained their trust. Gen’s mother still mothered her children but you looked after Gen’s sister and helped pay the bills while making sure the other alpha’s left the family alone.
“You, Y/n Y/l/n, are a very bad influence,” Gen whispers causing you to smirk.
“You love it,” You breathed against her neck. Gen shivers feeling your hot breath against her cool skin making you grin even wider.
“I love you,” She whispers. You lift your head and look at her through hooded eyes.
“I love you too,” You whisper puckering your lips. She giggles.
“Lazy,” She whispers, connecting your lips. “We need to brush our teeth,” She murmurs against your lips.
“We can be nasty together,” You whisper pushing her onto her back. Gen relaxes under you as your lips reconnect. Her moans encourage you to kiss her deeper.
“I want to be yours,” Gen whispers, you kiss down her neck towards her chest.
“You are mine,” You say. “Just as I’m yours,”
“Y/n,” She whispers. You lips gently pepper kisses down her chest. “Y/n,” She says sternly.
“Yes, baby?” You lift your head pinching your eyebrows at the serious look on her face.
“I want to be yours,” She stresses. It takes a moment for her words to sink in.
“Mine?” You asks and she nods biting her lip. You lean over her and press your forehead against hers. “You sure, baby? There’s no going back, no getting rid of me,” You remind her. Gen smiles gently caressing the side of your face.
She knew that ever since your father completely turned his back to you that you had developed a fear of abandonment, a fear of people pretending to want you only to change their minds. You didn’t want to trap Gen with you. You worried that down the road she wouldn’t want you and if you claimed her she wouldn’t be able to leave causing her to be unhappy. It’s the main reason you hadn’t claimed her yet.
“I love you. I want you, no one else. Please, alpha,” You eyes darken and a low growl comes from your chest. She begins to whine amplifying her scent. Your head ducks down to her neck. You breath in her sweet smell. “Please, mark me, Alpha. Please,” She begs slowly breaking your resolve. “I want to be yours, completely and forever. I don’t want no one else,” You could sense her desperation begin to rise.
“Shh, omega, I’ve got you,” You whisper, trying to soothe her. “I’ll mark you, I’ll make you mine forever,” Gen smiles, slowly relaxing. “Only if you mark me, as well,” Gen’s eyes widen.
“Are you sure?” She whispers, you nod pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead.
“100%... If you’re going to be mine and bare my mark, I want to be yours with your mark,” Gen slowly grins and nods.
“Ok,” She whispers. You grin and press your lips to hers.
“You’re perfect, Genevieve,” You whisper, moving your lips back to her neck. “Everything I could ever want,” Gen smiles, pulling your shirt over your head.
“Alpha, please, I need you,” She whines, clawing at your back.
“I’m right here, ‘mega... I’m right here,” You whisper, soothingly.
“Mark me, please,” She begs.
“Patience,” You whispers, a smirk on your lips. Your hands unclothe her before your eyes memorize every inch of her body. You couldn’t believe the woman in underneath you is going to be yours forever. Gen smiles, a light blush on her cheeks and her teeth chewing her lower lip.
“Alpha,” She whines, pulling you close. “Please,” You gently begin peppering her neck. You can feel her heartrate skyrocketing and her breathing escalate.
“You’re gonna be all mine, baby girl,” You whisper nipping at her neck.
“Please,” She whimpers pressing her neck against your lips. She gasps, your teeth dig into her neck. “Alpha,” She cries.
“All mine,”

Touchy ~ Embry Call
A/n: MY BABYYYYYYYYYYY!
Request: "Okay here we go! Can I please get a Embry x imprint reader where she’s super affectionate and is always holding a part of Embry or sitting on him. The pack teases her a lot and she gets kinda self-conscious so she stops hanging on Embry. And he thinks that she’s scared of him but she ends up telling him what’s wrong. And the end is supper fluffy and Embry kicks their asses ! Lmao sorry if this is too much! ❤️❤️" by @sweetkiitty
A/n: I'm so sorry this is late. I got... distracted... blame Cameron Monaghan.
MASTERLIST
"Hey guys!" The boys in their usual places around Emily's table all looked up, smiling at the familiar voice.
No smile stretched further than Embry Call's though. He went to move to the girl who'd spoken, but she came in. "Hey babe." She tucked into his side, her arms wrapping around his waste as his arm went over her shoulders.
"Hey." She looked around, greeting each of the other pack members with one nod at a time. When she finished her quick trail, her gaze returned to Embry. "I miss anything?"
"Other than Embry?" Quil jabbed softly. Jared snorted next to him.
Feeling my face growing warm, I rose an eyebrow. What was wrong with missing my boyfriend? He met my gaze evenly so I looked away, feeling suddenly self conscious. "Nothing much," Embry answered, reaching over to shove Quil playfully.
Recently the boys had been making lots of comments like that. Wolf whistling when we got too close or pulled away from the others or headed out for the night. Making kissy noises any time we kissed- even if it was just on the cheek or forehead. They were relentless and never missed a moment, which they never did because Embry often had you on his mind at all times... even when he was a wolf and the others could tune into every brain train he hopped on.
At first it had been fun. I flaunted my ability to kiss Embry, grabbing him and making out with him anytime they began their teasing. They'd get worse for a second and then retreat and it would end there. But then they got braver Quil would squirm between us or Paul would hoot and holler until we stopped, getting louder as time passed. Jared would laugh so hard that he sounded like a hyena and their prodding and poking was starting to get to me.
Were they annoyed with me? Did they want me to be less affectionate? Was I making them uncomfortable? Were they trying to hint that I was doing something wrong, but I wasn't picking up on it? It wouldn't be the first time I'd been oblivious to even the most obvious clues. Just ask Embry what it was like getting me to date him.
Embry didn't seem to mind basking in the attention of the others or flaunting our relationship. He seemed to have no plans on backing off or calming down and often moved to me or pulled me closer if I tried to put some space between us. He was enthusiastic with affection. He could also occasionally read the other boys' minds and he'd back off if it was really bothering them. He wasn't just a good boyfriend- he was a good friend too. Silly and adorable and fun and lighthearted, but respectful. His mom had made sure of it.
So what was up?
"Hey, you okay Sweetheart?" I blinked and refocused on Embry as his question pulled me from my thoughts and back into reality.
Putting on a smile, I looked around to see that the others were distracted, but a few kept stealing looks. Perhaps I'd made an odd face or they'd been trying to talk to me. Oops. Embry's voice was quiet, trying to check on me without drawing too much attention. Even though the others could still hear, I kept my voice quiet as well. "Yeah. Sorry, got some things from school on my mind. Just homework.Upcoming test. The usual." He nodded and relaxed, looking back to his friends.
I reintegrated back into the conversation and soon we were all laughing and having a great time. At one point my fingers found their way into Embry's short hair, switching between fiddling with the strands and lightly running my nails against his scalp. He adored both actions and was slowly relaxing more and more underneath me. I thought it was lowkey, but Paul looked over at us with a huge smirk.
"Careful- get any louder and you'll be moaning." He winked at Embry, who snickered. My hand immediately dropped from his hair. Embry's shoulders sagged in disappointment. Embry wasn't aroused- from my position on his lap I would have felt it. Surely Paul wouldn't have said something if there wasn't something to be said though. I hadn't meant to mess with him in front of his friends. He wouldn't have said anything either, with them so in ear shit. Damnit.
"Do you guys ever part?" Jared teased a little later. We'd moved for Paul who had to go take care of some business and everyone had temporarily parted from their partner at some point to allow him to get through since he was chair locked in the corner, except for me and Embry who'd sort of just pressed closer together to make more room behind us. I hadn't really actively noticed it until Jared said something.
"Nah," Quil drawled, his smirk growing. "If she moves then we'll all see his massive boner."
"Shut up!" Embry laughed, rolling his eyes,
Emily stood, smiling. "Let me through now. It's getting late, I need to get dinner ready."
Seeing my chance, I jumped off of Embry's lap and began to trip over myself to follow her. "Let me help!"
Everyone got an odd look, especially Emily. She was very particular about cooking and we'd all resigned to just letting her do it herself since she usually ended up doing so anyway. "I'm fine," she assured softly.
"I'll do whatever you say, promise." I shot her a desperate look I prayed no one else saw. She didn't know why, but she saw my need immediately and nodded. I followd after her into the kitchen. I felt Embry's eyes on my all the way.
Maybe I was being annoying, in some way or another. I hadn't been in any other relationship. My family was small and it had been a relief when my parents got divorced. I had no idea how people who were happy together acted and it showed far too often. I could give Embry space for a little. Get the guys off his back. Off of mine as well.
Emily asked what was wrong but I brushed it away and she let it drop. For now. This wasn't a big deal. I couldn't overthink it. So I didn't.
I quickly failed and overthought the hell out of it.
What kinds of intimacy should I limit around other people? Were short kisses still okay? Loving staring contests? How much should I pull myself from touching him? Should I hang out with him less? Let him just hang out with other people less? For how long? Should I just take a break, or should I learn how to bother him with my presence less? Perhaps I was too needy and needed to calm down in general.
Why was this so hard?
Short story even shorter, it didn't take Embry a long time to notice my odd activity. After spending every second of every day I was allowed to, attached to him in some way or another, my forced distance and the awkward way I. Was handling him was obvious and painful. After a whole day of me just not touching him because I was hyper overthinking, he finally reached out for me. I tried to find a middle but I was an extreme person. Being allover him was easy. So was not touching him at all. I could set a clear line and rules and not cross them. Where did you step when it was all grey though and you had to make precise movements? Lines that shaped boxes were solid and dark for a reason. It was impossible to navigate without the star difference and clear paths.
Finally, Embry snapped. He found me during lunch one day and pulled me aside, his face clouded with far too many emotions. Fear; guilt; worry; confusion. Maybe more I couldn't quite place. None of them made sense. "Are you okay?"
"Never been better." A white lie. The teasing had died down and I definitely felt better about myself, but I was also massively anxious and craving Embry's touch and it was driving me just a little mad.
He rose an eyebrow. "Are... we okay?" The fear and worry rose a little and suddenly all the buried confusion that left his face rose to my own.
"So far as I know."
He pursed his lips.We seemed to be at an impasse, unsure how to approach a problem neither of us were sure the exact shape of. See? Back at this gray in between kind of there kind of not line again. Things needed to be straight forward! This was ridiculous!
"You've been distant lately," he started slowly, allowing me time to process and jump in whenever.
I shrugged. I felt extremely self conscious. What was I just saying about being straight forward? Geez I was a mess. "Um... I figured maybe you and the guys wanted me to back off a little?"
Embry's face was wiped of all expression, a new one taking place of all of them: surprise. "Why would you ever think that?"
Now I felt silly. "Uh, I don't know." I looked away, shuffling. "The guys' relentless teasing, I guess. They seem to be really annoyed by my neediness and I was thinking maybe they were acting like that because they were uncomfortable. I know I've been stealing you from Quil a lot recently, and distracting you during hang outs. I thought maybe you were secretly feeling smothered and were too nice to say anything." He looked absolutely bewildered and I scrambled to make sense of it. "I just- it seemed that they were hinting at something very strongly, because that's usually the level someone reaches when I'm missing something big. Constantly doing the same thing, repeating certain words or phrases, long eye contact and pointed looks..." My voice faded out.
Embry began grinning brightly, his hands reaching up to cup my face. "You dork. They're all very affectionate, and they can't rough house and play around like they could with me, so they made a different approach. You're kind of like one of the guys- really fun and energetic. Down to go out and do things. They still haver to be super careful though, so that... friendship, I guess, shows up in what they can do: they tease. A lot." He blushed. "They thought it would be fine after you started to retaliate and laugh along with us."
My hands rose to cover my face as realization dawned on me. "I'm such an idiot."
Embry began laughing as he reached up to pull them away. "Don't hide that pretty face from me." He leaned down, pressing a little kiss to the tip of my nose. My anxieties melted away and I couldn't help but done a sweet smile. "At least you're my idiot."
I shoved him and he allowed it to have impact for my benefit. "You jerk!" We both began laughing before moving close again, him pulling me under his arm and into his side.
"You know, you keep being sassy and retaliating with that amazing confidence you have, and I'll beat them up for you, yeah? You can cheer me on."
Little giggles rolled from me. "I'd love that."
Embry kept his promise. The next time we were with the others we unabashedly cuddled and kissed and touched each other being as heavy with PDA as usual. Quil started up first, oohing and aweing. Paul started up with the whistling and even Jake joined in with the kissy noises. Jared ignited that usual laugh, making suggestive gestures in an effort to make me blush or become awkward.
Embry gave a huge sigh and moved to them, leaving me behind in the chair. He played it casual until he got close to Quil, who started it. He then hooked his friend under his arm in a head lock. The boys began rough housing; thankfully, we were already outside so Emily didn't have to worry about it.
People started making bets as the two laughing boys began to get rough. Jared and Paul cheered and Jake came over, throwing an arm around me. "Hey I just wanted to say... sorry." He gave me a small smile. "I know Embry's been worried about you for the last while and since this-" he motioned to Quil and Embry. "-is a thing, I assume it's their fault. They won't apologize, but they really don't mean any harm."
I grinned. "You know, I think I'm catching on. Boys are idiots."
We both laughed before he nodded and admitted, "Yeah. We really are. Especially when it comes to girls we have feelings for, or girls our friends have feelings for."
I grinned so wide it hurt, my face red and radiating heat. It was like having a whole gang worth of brothers. Maybe I'd been embarrassed before, but now I was so glad to have each and every one of them. It wasn't just me- we were all idiots. That's what made us so very, very fun.
What made us family.
"You think Embry or Quil will win?"
Jake shot me a devious grin. "Money's totally on Quil."
I smirked. "You're on." I ran ahead a little so Embry could hear when I screamed, "KICK HIS ASS BABE!"
The boys all erupted into laughter around me.
It was absolutely perfect.

SOTW: Brian Foster, Jared/Bryce; winging it
For the prompt: Now I totally want to see “Foster’s apparently panicking“ POV of his talk with Jared!! Please!!
You know, Brian was really expecting it to be a routine meeting. Trades are never easy — he knows that better than fucking anyone, it’s like the NHL collectively decided he’d be the fun bonus toss-in during every multi-piece trade his teams were involved in — but once it’s done it’s done. You’re there now.
He’s going to tell Jared what he expects from him, how him and his line fit in in the jigsaw puzzle of the Canucks roster. He’s going to let Jared know that whatever he needs to make arrangements for — house hunting, a car lease, bringing his family here — well, he’s too young for that bit to be relevant — that they’ve got people who can help him with that. He’s going to tell him again how happy they are to have him.
And they’re ecstatic to have him. Brian swears it’s like they’ve been cursed by the hockey gods up and down the right side, and he was frankly incredulous that Jared was even available at the deadline considering the powerhouse that was his line with Julius Halla. And not just offensively: Jared was the rock that kept that line defensively responsible, and he’s a perfect fit for their shutdown line, will give Marksy a chance to push more instead of falling back to cover Dima.
And it does start out routine. Brian tells him what he expects, Jared responds in a way that satisfies Brian that he knows what’s expected of him. Brian tells him that if he needs any help, they’ve got him, Jared lets him know he’s got family in town, which is a relief. Not that they wouldn’t be happy to help him out, obviously, but it’s always easier when you get to a town where you already know people. Another thing Brian knows from plenty of experience.
And then, after the ‘you need any help let us know’ and before the ‘we are so happy to have you’, the meeting is no longer routine, because Jared clarifies the ‘family’ to say, specifically, he’s staying with his mother-in-law.
Brian likes his in-laws, but that is still not something he would ever, ever consider doing. “Brave man,” he says.
“I’m married,” Jared adds, like Brian didn’t get that. And he is pretty young for it, but a lot of hockey players marry young. Brian wasn’t one of them, which often made him feel like the exception.
“Congratulations?” Brian says.
“To a guy,” Jared says, twisting the ring on his finger, like a lucky charm, or maybe more like a stress ball.
Brian’s starting to get why this was relevant information to tell him.
“Ah,” Brian says. Jared looks stressed as fuck, so Brian adds, “If you’re worried about the team, you should know it’s a really good bunch of guys. Inclusive. They’re not going to have a problem with it. Gabe’s our YCP rep if you wanted to talk to him.”
Gabe, Brian’s sure, would be a fuck of a lot better to talk to than Brian. Not that Brian’s not supportive — he is! — but Marksy’s got a little more experience with this. He’s much better at not just stream-of-consciousnessing whatever comes to his head. Sometimes Brian thinks Marksy would be better at this than he would. Brian is fully prepared to make an impassioned job offer when he retires.
“That’s—” Jared says. “He’s a hockey player.”
“NHLer?” Brian asks, hoping like hell he isn’t.
“Yeah,” Jared says.
Fuck. Okay. This is very relevant.
“Okay,” Brian says, leaning back in his chair. “Okay. Well. That’s a little different.”
Brian hastily adds “Not a problem!”, because Jared’s so pale he’s practically grey, probably feels sick to his stomach right now. “You’ve of course — it’s not a problem, okay Jared? You’ve got the right to be married to who you want to be married to.”
Way to state the obvious, Brian. Except maybe it isn’t. He wonders if this is why Deslauriers flipped him so easy. Fuck, he hopes not. What a nightmare for the kid.
“Right,” Jared says, still more grey than not. “Thank you.”
“Please tell me you’re not like doing a Riley-Lapointe, married to a rival thing though,” Brian says before he can stop himself.
“Um?” Jared says. Brian doesn’t like that ‘um’. ‘Um’ is not no.
Fuck.
“Okay,” Brian says. Fuck. “Okay! I. That’s fine!”
“Sorry?” Jared says meekly.
Brian thinks. Former Oiler, and the kid’s from Alberta, so chances are it’s a player there rather than in Cali. He tries to remember where Jared’s from. Played for the Hitmen, he knows, so even split on Calgary or Edmonton.
Or Brian could just stop speculating and ask.
“You’re an Alberta boy, right Jared?” Brian asks.
“Yes sir,” Jared says.
“Your husband’s back in Alberta?” Brian asks.
“Yes sir,” Jared repeats, and Brian takes a moment to be impressed by his detective skills before he realises that’s inappropriate. He wonders if it’s Halla? Also inappropriate. None of his business unless Jared tells him.
“I’m not going to ask who it is,” Brian says. “Because it’s not any of my business. If you want to tell me, you’re of course welcome to tell me, but you don’t have to.”
“Okay, sir,” Jared says.
“Stop calling me sir,” Foster says. “I’m maybe ten years older than you.”
You are not ten years older than a kid on his ELC, Brian.
“Sorry,” Jared says instead of calling him on that blatant lie.
“You play as hard against him as you do anyone else, right?” Brian asks. He already knows the answer, but it has the effect he wants, Jared relaxing in his seat a little, back on more comfortable footing.
“Yeah,” Jared says. “Of course.”
“Good,” Brian says. “Maybe have a chat with Gabe? If there’s anything you’re concerned about, or — he’s good people, he’ll listen.”
And he’ll probably do a much better job than Brian’s doing right now. God Brian hopes he talks to Gabe.
“Sure, maybe,” Jared says, which isn’t a yes, but Brian can’t make him.
“Have I told you how happy we are to have you on the roster?” Brian says, fully aware of the answer of that one too, but it has the response he’s looking for: Jared smiles for the first time since he walked in the door.

Summary: Bruce is protective Alpha, especially when it comes to his children.
Notes: Some discriminatory language.

XXX
The gala was in full swing when Jason spotted the baby bat. He nudged Tim who was beside him, shoving a pastry in his mouth.
"Hey, Timmy," he said to the younger boy, "What do you think's happenin' over there?"
Tim followed his gaze, took in Damian's rigid posture, the cruel smirks on the two boys that looked his age, and the weirdly smug glee on a boy who looked about ten.
"Doesn't look too good," said Tim
"Nope," said Jason, "Should we...?"
"Any other time, I would have just let him deal with it but this is the Martha Wayne Foundation Gala,"
It was the one gala that they attended no matter what. All anger, fights and problems were put aside to come to help support their dad on his mother's birthday. There was also an unofficial rule among the bat kids that no one would cause any havoc during the gala and they would intervene if they saw something brewing.
And by the scowl on Damian's face, something was definitely brewing. The young Omega looked seconds away from punching someone.
"Yeah, let's go," said Jason
Both Alphas weaved their way through the crowd toward their younger brother. As they got closer, Jason started to hear what the other boys were saying and it made his blood boil in anger.
"Go back...'" "Your kind-" "Tainted,"
Jason was ready to march over and teach the little brats a lesson when he noticed another body moving toward the youngest Wayne.
Apparently Bruce Wayne had noticed his youngest son's plight because of course, he had. And it was good because this place did not need Jason to go around shaking little kids, no matter how much they deserved it. Bruce would handle this much better.
"Well, hello there young gentlemen," he said in a pleasant tone, the cold fury in his eyes only visible to people that really knew him.
From across the room, Jason saw Dick start to make his way to them. Cass and Steph had also detangled themselves from the dance floor. Duke was already standing at his left. Everyone else ignored their little gathering. If there was one thing the Waynes were good at, it was blending.
"Hello Mr. Wayne," said one of the older boys, looking just a little scared. Good.
"And your names," asked Bruce.
"I'm William," said the older redhead and then pointed to the younger boy, "This is my brother, Harris,"
"William and Harris," said Bruce, "The Livingston boys,"
"Yes, sir,"
"And you, son?" said Bruce, making Damian tense. He relaxed once Bruce moved his hand to his shoulder.
"Jared Lucky, Mr. Wayne,"
"Alright, Jared," said Bruce, tone still biting, "I'm guessing all your parents are here tonight?"
The boys nodded.
"Okay, here's what we're going to do," said Bruce, "Jared and Harris are going to stand right here. William, you are going to go get both your parents and bring them here,"
The little brat nodded and quickly took off.
"Father?" murmured Damian, looking up at him with a questioning look. Jason took a quick look at his siblings and saw that all of them, except Dick, looking varying degrees of confused. Even Cass.
Taking in their reactions, Jason realized that none of them had ever seen Bruce in his protective Alpha mode before. Sure they had all seen Batman but not Bruce.
Jason had been the target of many cruel taunts once when he had joined Gotham's 'high' society. And he knew from stories that while Dick had charmed everybody with his personality and smile, that had still been whispers of gypsy and uncivilized. Bruce had shut all of them down with a vicious look and cruel smile. The rest of them had probably never needed it. Tim was a born elite. No one would ever say anything about Cass. Stephanie held her head high and dared anyone to come close enough to speak. Duke was relatively new.
None of them had seen Papa Bruce protecting his pups, which meant that they were in a for a treat tonight.
Damian was still waiting for an answer when two couple showed up with a flustered looking William. The red-headed woman instantly took her boys in her arms, glaring at Bruce. The Luckys just looked really confused.
"Bruce," said Mr. Lucky, "What is going on here? Did the boys get into a scuffle or something?"
"Or something," said Bruce, "Boys, why don't you repeat for your parents what you were saying to Damian here,"
"But-"
"Repeat it," this time the words came out sharper, making a few heads turn their way. Jason sent them a few glares, making them turn right back around.
"Boys," said Mrs. Lucky, "Explain yourselves,"
William and Jared quietly repeated the things that had been said, making Jason tremble with anger. Around him, the rest of his family was in similar states.
Worst of all was Damian, head bowed with shame as if he was the one who had done something wrong.
God, these boys were lucky Jason had a little more control now. Otherwise, they would be getting good talking to at the least.
"God, Bruce," said Mr. Lucky, "I am so sorry. We will definitely be talking to Jared once we get home,"
"This is our fault," said Mrs. Lucky, "He said he wanted to experience boarding at Gotham Academy and we figured it wouldn't be a problem. I have to admit, since then we haven't really monitored the content he takes in,"
"Which will be fixed," said Mr. Lucky, "You have my word, Bruce,"
"I would hope so, Sean," said Bruce
That started a whole other round of apologies and promises. Jason looked at them carefully, looking for any indication that these people were insincere or were talking out of their ass to keep Bruce happy. He found nothing. Thye seemed to mean it.
The Livingstons were another story though. The guy was impassive, wearing his businessman's face while his wife was openly glaring at them.
Once the Luckys finally stopped, Bruce turned toward the other couple.
"And what about Mr. and Mrs. Livingston," said Bruce, "Anything to say about your boys' behaviour?"
The guys cleared his throat but the lady beat him to it.
"I don't see the problem with my boys expressing themselves," she said, tone haughty
God, what a bitch.
"Excuse me," said Bruce, "Expressing themselves? There is expressing yourself and then there is discriminatory language, not to mention verbal assault,"
"Now. Now, Bruce," said the man, "Don't you think you're overreacting a bit?"
The complete and utter fury on Bruce's face was a thing to behold. The Lucky family took a step back and the two brothers looked ready to piss themselves. Even Mr. Lviningston looked like he was regretting his decision to be here.
The only one still glaring was Mrs. Livingston or as Jason would call her from now, She-devil.
"Overreacting? Overreacting?" hissed Bruce, "Your sons used derogatory language to talk to mine and you think I'm overreacting,"
"Some terms fit," said the She-devil, "Especially for a...brood like yours,"
Bruce tightened his hold on Damian's shoulder and took a step forward, "Listen here, Susan,"
"Sasha," she muttered
"Susan, Sasha, fucking Sally," said Bruce, "I don't care! The only reason, the only reason I am not making a goddamn sacrificial spectacle of you in front of this whole room is that it has become obvious to me that these boys have some very poor role models, and given their age, should be given a chance to rectify their mistakes and humiliating them in front of a room full of people will not do that,"
"Because let's be honest here, with today's school curriculum and resources available it is obvious where these boys learned language like this. I would hate to think what you would say to my son -to my children- given the opportunity to be honest without consequences,"
Both boys were now looking at their parents with confused eyes.
"Now, do me a favour and leave this place,"
Sasha went to say something else but Harris tugged at her dress, "Mom let's go,"
"Don't talk out of line, Harris,"
The boy flinched. Beside him, Jason felt Tim tense. He as starting to hate this woman more by the second.
"We will take our leave," said Mr. Livingston
"Please do," said Bruce, tone rivalling the Arctic winds, "And consider yourselves disinvited from any event that has even a small part of the Waynes in it,"
That was basically 99.9% of Gotham City.
The family four left, quickly being swallowed up by the crowd.
"Well, no more sleepovers at their house," muttered Sean, and then turned toward Bruce, "You know some of us to send our boys to the dormitories despite living in the city. William and Jared roomed together and when Jared started having sleepovers with them, Carrie and I were happy. He gets lonely at home, you know. Obviously we didn't realize the differences in values, we'll definitely make sure to talk to Jared,"
"We're so sorry, Damian," said Carrie, lowering herself a little so she could look him in the eye, "You didn't deserve that,"
Damian nodded.
"I'm also going to look into the Livingstons a little more closely," said Sean, "There was something not right about the way Sasha spoke to her youngest,"
"Hmm," said Bruce, "I think we've all had enough excitement for the night,"
The Luckys obviously saw the dismissal and left without saying much more.
As soon as they were gone, Bruce led them to the back balcony, rarely used by anyone and completely deserted. Once they were there, he picked up Damian and held him close, gently cooing at him and scenting him.
It was proof of how emotionally taxing the whole thing had been that Damina didn't even fight it a little, just melted into his father's arms.
"Listen to me, Damian," said Bruce, gently stroking his hair, "Nobody gets to talk to you like that, nobody,"
Damian nodded against Bruce's shoulder.
"Nobody gets to talk to anyone of you like that," said Bruce, looking at each one of them in the eye. They all nodded too.
"Now I have to stay here for the speeches but you are all welcome to go back in," said Bruce, "Damian, do you want to go with Dick?"
"Yes, Father," mumbled Damian
Dick gently took their brother and held him close, similar to how Bruce had been holding him.
"Let's go, guys," said Dick
"I should be inside in an hour," said Bruce
They all nodded at him and quickly made their way to the exit. Jason thanked whatever deity was out there, that the Gala was always held in the manor. They all gathered just outside the door and for a second just looked at each other.
Stephanie was the first to crack, a few chuckles escaping her. Cass smiled next and Tim let out a giggle. Them suddenly they were all laughing, except for Damian who had a sleepy smile on his face.
"Holy shit," said Stephanie, "Holy shit. Forget Batman. Bruce Wayne is fucking terrifying,"
"Did you see the guy's face?" said Duke
"Susan can go die though," said Stephanie
"Sasha," said Tim, copying her haughty tone
"Susan, Sasha, fucking Sally," said Jason and they burst into laughter again.
"God, I've never seen him like that," said Tim as they started to make their way into the family room.
"He used to do it a lot when we were kids," said Dick, gesturing to Jason, "And it surprised people a lot more then. He's changed his public act a lot over the years but back then- imagine twenty-two years old Brucie Wayne, playboy extraordinaire instantly switching to Bruce Wayne, Protective Alpha dad. It was amazing to watch,"
"Yeah," said Jason, getting a little lost in his memories, "I remember this one time he told someone and, I quote, "this boy has more class in his pinky finger than you have in your whole body, Jennifer,"
"Jennifer?" asked Tim
"Her actual name was Jenna,"
Duke snorted, "Of course it was,"
"Guys shhh," said Dick out of nowhere
"What," whispered Stephanie
"I think he's asleep,"
Jason looked at Damian a little closely and sure enough, the little boy was curled up in Dick's lap, fast asleep.
"Aww," said Cass, "Poor little brother,"
"Yeah," said Steph, "All jokes aside, he really doesn't deserve that shit,"
"Good thing we got Bruce, right?" said Duke, looking at them
"Right," Jason found himself saying. His siblings gave him weird looks but he just smiled. Just because Red Hood and Batman didn't agree on some things didn't mean Jason had forgotten what it had felt like to have Bruce's protection, to be held close like he was something precious.
It was really something.
Slowly they all started to make their way out of the room and upstairs to change. Jason went with Dick to help put Damian to bed without waking him up. Once they were done, Dick gave him a quick pat on the back and headed toward his room. Jason went to the room he stayed in when he was at the manor and changed quickly. Instead of going to bed, he headed down to the kitchen and waited. Half an hour later, Bruce walked in, already having changed into sweats and a t-shirt.
"Oh, hey Jason," said Bruce, "What are you still doing up?"
Jason started to think of a lie but then decided against it.
"Waiting for you,"
Bruce smiled, "Come on,"
Together they took out some leftover cake from the fridge and headed toward the sitting room. Bruce took a seat at the love seat and Jason joined him.
"Any particular reason you were waiting for me?"
"Feeling nostalgic, I guess," said Jason, "We used to sit here whenever we came back from a shitty gala or event,"
"I remember. You would wait for me in the kitchen and then we would get whatever we could find from the fridge and eat in here,"
"Yeah," said Jason, "It always felt great, you know. Having you in my corner. I'm glad that other kids get it too now,"
"Jason," said Bruce, putting his plate down, "You still have it. I know we're not the most conventional pack but I am this pack's Alpha and you are a part of it. As such you will always have me in your corner. Even if you don't like thinking of me as your father, I am you Alpha,"
Jason opened his mouth to say something but nothing came out. Instead, he just lowered his gaze, a sudden pressure building behind his eyes.
Jesus, he would never get over how small Bruce could make him feel.
"Oh, Jaybird," murmured Bruce, taking away his plate and pulling him into his arms, "My little pup,"
"Not a pup," he sniffed, tucking his face close to Bruce's neck and breathing in his scent of burnt cinnamon mixed with sage.
"Still my pup," said Bruce, "And I'm sorry,"
"For what?"
"Forever letting you think you didn't have me in the same capacity as you used to. I should have made it clear as soon as we agreed to clear the air. You always had me, Jaylad,"
Jason smiled and curled closer, "Love you, Dad,"
He felt Bruce's smile at his temple.
"I love you too, Jay,"

A Man On Fire - Chapter 82
But Jared stayed right where he was, curling and twirling around Chloe on that improvised dancefloor full of tired, drunk friends, she looked at the scene in front of her on her way back to the table, it was actually adorable, somehow it was rare to see Jay this frivolous, rare but heartwarming. “Everything ok?” Cooper sat down again next to her, “sure” she tried not to mumble or look distressed, but she was, “I can see why you and LA don’t mix, this city is full of actors, so you’re definitely out of place here” grinning, he took a swig from his bottle of beer. “Trouble in paradise, I can tell, I’m a good listener you know” he leaned back in his chair, not taking his eyes off her, “I’m sure you are, but I’m not as good a talker..the only thing I can truly confide in is chocolate, I’ve got some dessert left, want one?” she got up again, feeling a little uncomfortable under his scrutiny. “Sure” he shrugged as she instantly headed for the kitchen, just getting my thoughts together, just a minute to myself, she opened the fridge reaching for the chocolate cake, “uhm, while you’re at it, give us another bottle of vodka will ya?” the voice behind her startled her so much she nearly let the plate with the cake slip out of her hands. “Oh..” she spun around to see the spitting image of that other girl who was dancing with Jared outside, “here you go” she took the bottle out of the fridge “you must be..Marie-Lou?” she forced a smile, “yup, and you’ve been hanging around my man all night” the girl snapped at her and then turned with a dramatic flip of her hair rushing out of the kitchen without giving Harper any more attention. Slowly and in a bit of a shock she closed the fridge door, had she been suggesting that she spent too much time tonight with her boyfriend? Please no more misunderstandings, ever since Sean, she was so done with them, wait how did Sean slip back into her mind? Where was he now? And how was he? Why do I even care? She shook her head and carried on filling up two plates with chocolate cake before she walked out into the crisp evening air again. “I..uhm..met Marie-Lou” she put the plate in front of Cooper but found him too wrapped up in an animated conversation with the guy next to him, so she sat down and pushed a spoonful of chocolate cake in her mouth while she looked sighing at the party in full swing in front of her, connection lost again, story of her frikkin life.
”You really love chocolate cake, don't you?” Cooper turned his attention back to Harper who put her fork back on her empty plate, “treading on thin ice here , buddy, I really don't need to hear you say out loud what is bubbling through your mind, yes I actually eat, I'm definitely no LA woman, there I said it out loud, can we move on now?”. Cooper leaned back in his seat with a grin, this is one feisty, little firecracker, I actually like her, she's such a breath of fresh air, “ok, moving on then, don't you get jealous seeing all these women throw themselves at Jared's feet?”. Harper looked at the dancefloor where her man was the centre of attention “Jared will always attract attention, I guess I've learned to live with it, the only ones jealous are those girls out there, they’re jealous because they’re not in a relationship with him and I am and that’s an entirely different ballgame” she sighed as she pushed another piece of cake in her mouth. “I’ve always wondered if Jared is into twins, I mean look at Marie-Lou and Chloe” Cooper didn’t seem the least bit affected by his lover’s and her sister’s grinding against Jared, “you must have one kinky sex life”, his wide grin and his assumption annoyed her. “First, my sex life is nobody’s business, second: why don’t you ask Marie-Lou that question? Sounds like you’re the one fantasizing about Marie-Lou and her sister” she calmly said watching his jaw drop, ha, the shoe was on the other foot now. “Marie-Lou? You obviously don’t know her, Marie-Lou is..well, let’s say she’s not the most passionate woman alive” he sniggered, finding himself extremely funny. “You’re right, I can’t say that I know her, but I’ve met her in the kitchen just now and she’s definitely passionate about you, she said I’ve been hanging around you all night and she didn’t seem to pleased with that” Harper took a few sips looking at Cooper’s reaction, was that a smirk?. “Oh really?” his lip curled into a smile while his eyes drifted over to his lover “never confuse passion with jealousy, I told you, passionate relationships are so early 20th century..I can honestly say I’ve never had one of those, do you?” the way he squinted his eyes and bit his lip made her shiver. Before she could even think of an answer, he did “Maybe we should ask Jared that question, he’s more of an early 20th century guy isn’t he? I mean he’s pushing on 50 so he’s had quite the experience with women”. Harper shifted in her seat, don’t show him you’re getting agitated, too late, “ah there he is, the man of the hour” Cooper looked up at Jared approaching their side of the table.
”I missed you” he pushed a kiss on her lips that tasted of alcohol and his skin smelled of expensive women's perfume, no wonder with how the girls had been rubbing themselves against him under the pretence of dancing. When they came up for air, her eyes connected with those burning ones of Cooper, “I thought you were going to come dance with me” he whispered when he straightened his back, “hey Cooper” he casually said turning his head slightly to greet Cooper, but deep down he felt a twang of jealousy burn, a good looking young guy who was clearly as fascinated by Harper as he was, a man with a brain too, and she was a sucker for those, “hey Jay, you lucky bastard” Cooper greeted him with a little grin. Jared pulled a chair up and strategically sat down in between them, you're not gonna dig your claws into her, back off! “must have been quite the conversation if you can keep my woman away from a dancefloor” in his voice this hint of venom that didn't go unnoticed by any of them. “Funny you ask because we were actually talking about passionate relationships and how they're so 20th century, an era we all know you're very familiar with” Cooper licked his lips before he took a sip from his glass. Don’t do it, just let him stew in all his obvious sarcasm, let it slide..too late “ah, the 20th century, yes I remember it well, see the good thing about being my age is knowing what you want and don’t want, especially in love, it took me until my late forties to find the woman of my dreams but I’m finally 100% sure I found her, unlike you millennials who have to fuck every friend you have, hoping someone will stick because you don’t know how to treat or satisfy someone because you’re all too wrapped up in yourself and the image you want to create, see, there’s no ‘I’ in the word ‘love’, is there? so yeah, I’m happy I’m a hopeless 20th century romantic..” he mockingly raised his eyebrow. Everyone in a one metre radius could feel the tension rise, so Harper quickly intervened “Well, this millennial sure has no complaints about her hopeless 20th century romantic” she quickly crawled on his lap and then whispered in his ear “and can I just say that this millennial can’t wait for this party to be over so I can get a good fucking tonight” before she kissed him. She could feel him relax instantly, a crisis avoided, nice work Harper, but the actual action she wasn’t too sure of yet with all these alcohol drenched kisses but it was a fact that she needed to be shot back to life, some lovin’ would surely get her head out of this mental fog and her creative juices flowing again. “Why wait? Why don’t you go upstairs now and I’ll come fuck your brains out in a few minutes” he whispered back at her with a little lick of her earlobe, “so far for my 20th century god of romance” she giggled, normally she would have just brushed it off because they had a whole lot of company, but not this time, she needed action and she needed it right now. “I’m just going to get some more wine” Harper got up, Jared’s eyes shooting daggers at Cooper who thoroughly checked out her glorious body, “sure yeah” Jared nervously shuffled in his seat and tried to hide his imminent arousal while she walked back to the house, rocking those hips just a little too obvious.
The cold water on her burning cheeks made her hiss, where was he? He said he was going to be up soon..she dried her face sitting down on the edge of the bath and quickly pushed away the blinders, nope, nowhere to be seen, she’d been waiting up here for him for 20 minutes..oh there he was, oh for fuck’s sakes..she watched him being dragged back on the danceflour by those horrible twins. Right, done anticipating, pfffff, get up, just get up Harper, she pushed herself back up on her feet and walked out of the bathroom, closing the door behind her, she so didn’t want to go back to that party again..so instead of walking down the stairs, she took a right and wandered through the dark corridor. The moonlight falling on her blank canvases in her studio drew her in, the smell of her oils and solvent wafting up to her, why didn’t anyone make a perfume out of those? She would be the first to buy it. She sat down in the bay window watching her canvases..blank, blankblankblank, blank..would she ever feel inspired again? Not as long as the sweltering heat of LA kept melting her brain, she had told herself over and over again to stop obsessing over how her new home blocked her creative vibe but every time she picked up a brush and lathered it up, nothing but nonsense would appear on the canvas. Try again? Sure, why not? She grabbed a brush and some paint, here goes nothing..nothing at all.. a softly whispered “oh my..” startled her, Jared?? Nope..Cooper..slowly walking into the room, not able to keep his eyes off the mess on the canvas. “I actually get to see the master paint..I can certainly tick that off my bucket list” he softly said with eyes like saucers “that is amazing, Harper..”, Harper leaned back a bit, stared at her painting and then at him “huh? Maybe you should get your eyes checked because this is just..bs” she huffed putting her brush down. Cooper just ignored her and walked to the back of the room where some of her older work rested on the floor “I don’t know what to say..this is mindblowing..seeing it in a catalogue is one thing but seeing it here, touching it is next level..you know, all those art critics were wrong..” he let his finger run over one of the canvases making her cringe, don’t do that, never touch a painting with your probably dirty fingers. “Critics can call you the new rising star in the art world, but you’re a new fuckin’ universe, this is spectacular” he stood up again and stared at her, “oh come on, I meant it when I said you need to get your eyes checked, if you call that art, then why do I feel like a one-trick pony?” she snapped before she stomped over to the bay window again and sat down in the moonlight. “Ok..” he sat down next to her “wanna talk about it?” she was just in time to move away from his hand that hovered over her knee, “not really?” she mumbled staring out the window, she so needed Jared right now instead of this man, but he was still too busy partying down there, at least that’s what she thought because he was nowhere to be seen. “LA, right? I don’t get it, why don’t you try and think of it as NY but with a lot more heat and humidity?” he grinned “if you ask me, I think the problem is not really LA as a city that is blocking your creativity, I think it’s you that is blocking her own creativity because you agreed to leave NY for a guy and that is against every single one of your principles”. What? Why were her cheeks burning all of a sudden? fuck! “oh really? Listen mister, I wouldn’t give up your dayjob just yet in this ridiculous quest of becoming a shrink” she huffed again, “oh come on, why so defensive all of a sudden, could it be because I’m right?” this time he shuffled closer, one hand wrapping around her shoulder and the other hand landing on her knee. Jared rushed up the stairs, where the hell was she? Not in his bedroom, not in the bathroom, he followed the light that came streaming out of her studio “Babe, I’m so sorry, I..” he barged in but stopped in his tracks when he was greeted by her being glued against Cooper “what the hell..”

Recap/review 15.18: “Despair”
THEN: The key to Billie's library. Billie wants to become God. Cas made a deal with The Empty. Chuck absorbed Amara. Jack absorbed Adam's rib. Dean pointed a gun at Sam (DEAN POINTED A GUN AT SAM.) Chuck is pissed. Jack is going to explode.
NOW: We begin right where we left off last week, with Jack about to explode with God-killing power. Sam half-carries him into the map table room, Cas tells him to take deep breaths and focus, and Dean gets all panicky and is no help at all. Jack wants the guys to just leave him outside in order to minimize the damage when he goes kaboom. {Sidebar... how far away would he have to be, considering that his explosive power could kill God? Discuss.} Dean yells at Sam to find one of Rowena's spells (and oh, Sam as Rowena's apprentice; there's a plot that was sadly wasted, wasn't it?) but he's interrupted by Billie and her scythe, which she's carrying in a very obvious way. She's furious, and tells them the plan to destroy Chuck was doomed "because of you." Billie can't stop Jack's earth-shattering kaboom, "but there is something I can do." She sends him to the Empty. Empty!Meg cheerfully points out that he doesn't look so hot, but then he looks explosively hot. Ah, there's our earth-shattering kaboom!
Bunker. Billie explains that The Empty was the only option to absorb the impact of Jack the Bomb. And that he's not necessarily dead, because taking out Chuck and Amara was the part that was fatal, not actually being the bomb. Hmm. So Jack's point of no return wasn't actually a point of no return after all. It's kinda retconny, but not really? I've decided it's logical and I approve.
However, if the Empty survives, "it's gonna be pissed." Particularly at Billie. And it's very strong. Billie and Sam remind us that the Empty can only come to Earth if it's summoned. They do not get into the details of what constitutes a summoning, but I'm sure that isn't important. And Billie might be willing to bring Jack back, assuming he survived, but not until Sam returns what he took from her. Chuck's death book.
Sam immediately goes on the attack. He points out that she was planning to betray them from the start, leading to the deaths of all the AU refugees and everyone who was brought back from death, including him and Dean. "Even if I give you the book," he says, "what's to stop you from stabbing us in the back? Killing us all?"
"Nothing," Billie says. She gets up in Sam's face and tells him Jack won't last long. Either give her the book now, or lose him forever. (Can I just point out that Sam is still a little bloody from Dean punching him in the face? After he pointed a gun at him?)
Meanwhile, in the Empty, we discover that Jack is still alive (yay) and that this episode was directed by Richard Speight (yay). He is surrounded by particles that gradually form back into Empty!Meg. And, as predicted, she's pissed.
In the bunker, Sam brings the book to Billie, but ignores her outstretched hand and slams it onto the table instead. It's a pointless little burst of defiance and I love it.
Billie flips to the end to read the new ending of God's book, "since you ruined the last one." She seems to like what she reads. Sam says "Wait, the ends of your books change? So me killing Rowena was presented as unavoidable fate but it really wasn't necessary at all?" No, he actually doesn't. But I do, on his behalf. It's a pointless little burst of defiance. Over in the Empty, Empty!Meg grabs Jack's head and says "you made it loud!" and this is a conversation I've had with my dogs in the wee dark hours of the morning more times than I can count because we just want to SLEEP, GUYS but before she can actually crush his head, Billie zaps him back to the bunker.
Billie tells the guys that Jack is hers because he's still useful. Dean responds by grabbing her scythe and swinging at her. She flings him away, but she's wounded and bleeding light. Oh, and she dropped the book. Sam and Cas ignore Dean crumpled over against the wall - Cas runs to comfort Jack, and Sam runs to pick up the book. Unfortunately, he can't open it. Dean says "hey, thanks for not helping me, guys" and Sam says "oh, I'm sorry, I guess I'm still a little rattled from you punching me in the face after you pointed a gun at me." No, he doesn't. But I do, on his behalf.
Several people have pointed out how skinny Jared looks in these last few episodes, but this is the first time I've noticed it. It will be interesting to see how he looks in the two that were filmed after their Covid shutdown.
Time jump. Dean is sitting in the library, drinking whiskey. And I've said it a million times but I'll say it again - I could watch an entire episode that was just Dean drinking. And then it gets even better when Sam walks in wearing only a v-neck t-shirt. Single layer Sam alert, guys! How long has it been? Dean slides the bottle over to him and we get a little bonus hand porn and then this happens:
Sam, I'm sorry about... everything.
Dean, you don't have to -
I pulled a gun on you. It's like I just couldn't stop. You know, we were so close to beating him. Like, I could smell Chuck's blood in the water, and I - nothing else mattered. It was everything. And I just couldn't snap out of it.
Well, you did. You've snapped me out of worse.
Hmmm. Am I missing a time when Dean snapped Sam out of something? I mean, I know in Stull, Sam was able to overcome Lucifer because of Dean. But that was Sam snapping himself out of it. And Dean convinced Sam to give up the trials, but that wasn't Sam under anything that he needed to be "snapped out of." I think if you're going to give Dean credit for snapping himself out of it when confronted by his teary eyed, bloodied little brother, you have to give Sam credit for snapping himself out of his own situations.
It doesn't matter. All that matters is these two sitting quietly in the dark, drinking whiskey together.
Dean's feeling some despair (nice) because Billie wants them dead, Jack is powerless (oh, wait, when did that happen?), and Michael isn't answering his prayers. No one is on their side. "Well, we regroup, somehow," says Sam. They drink a sad little toast to "somehow," and I die a thousand deaths.
Billie's library. Billie stalks angrily through the stacks. A reaper informs her he put up warding to keep the Empty out, and asks if the plan has changed. Yes, it has.
Elsewhere, a woman we don't know is cooking some seriously dry scrambled eggs. She thinks she knows what she's doing, because she's explaining to someone else in the room how to cook eggs so they're "not too runny, not too dry" but seriously. Gordon Ramsay would be appalled. {Sidebar: Gordon's eggs actually look a bit too runny for my taste, and my family would refuse to eat them, but this lady's dry crumbly eggs are still an abomination.} She turns around and we see AU Charlie sitting at the kitchen table. Oh, Charlie has a girlfriend! Sweet. And she must be in love, because she tells this girlfriend that they're the best eggs she's ever had. And also, she's still hunting. Guess she didn't retire to a mountaintop after all. Probably because she couldn't get wifi. Anyway. Her girlfriend's plate crashes to the floor because her girlfriend abruptly disappeared. (Aw, her name was Stevie. Stevie and Charlie. How cute is that?)
Time jump. Charlie's apartment building is called Kim Manor. Nice.
As Sam runs the EMF meter (and there's a nice wordless conversation where Sam lets Dean know he didn't find anything), Charlie talks about how they met (thanks to AU Bobby) and how she experienced nothing when Stevie disappeared. No sulphur smell, no cold, nothing. Dean and Sam have another wordless conversation about what they think happened.
Dean and Sam explain that Billie wants to send all the AU people back to their now non-existent worlds. So Stevie was from AU World too? I guess that explains how AU Bobby knew her. Coincidentally, Sam's phone rings, and it's AU Bobby. They have an extremely short conversation in which Sam learns that another AU hunter simply vanished. And there's no explanation on Sam's end, just "yeah, I understand." So have they already talked to AU Bobby about the Billie situation? Or was Sam and Bobby's conversation literally "hey, a hunter vanished into thin air, how weird is that" and "yeah, I understand" with no further discussion? Anyway. Dean says it's open season on anyone from another world (aw, sorry, Winchesters in Brazil), anyone who came back from the dead, and Sam gets a horrified look on his face and says "Eileen." Oh shit!
Meanwhile, out by the Impala, in broad daylight, Jack tells Cas that he feels strange because the plan failed and his destiny was averted. "I was ready to die, and I wanted to - for Sam, for Dean, for the world - I wanted to make things right. And now I don't know why I'm even here." OF COURSE HE LISTED SAM FIRST. Cas tells him he didn't need absolution from anyone, and that they care about him not because of his usefulness, but just because he's him. Somewhere Dean says "um, wait." Jack is scared because he's powerless and can't protect anyone. Cas is too. So, did Jack lose his powers after the earth shattering kaboom? Or earlier, and I just wasn't paying attention?
Nighttime. Dean speeds down the road as Sam texts Eileen. I don't know where Eileen is, but she must be pretty far away from Kim Manor. Sam told her to get out of her house, go somewhere public, and wait by her car. Now, I cover the guest star credits, so I don't know if Shoshanna is in this episode. But even unspoiled, I'm pretty sure she's not going to be there when they arrive. She starts to type a response, as evidenced by the bubbles, but then stops responding. Yep, just as I thought, no one is standing by her car. Sam finds her phone on the ground, cracked as if it were dropped (like, say, by someone who disappeared while holding it) and LOOK AT HER LOCKSCREEN. LOOK AT IT.
Some will say this is just the photo that pops up when Sam texts her but they are WRONG. This is her FREAKING LOCK SCREEN, PEOPLE.
Anyway. He sees the unfinished message she was writing, which says she's by her car. Aw, Sam. Dean tries to talk to him and he says "I can't - if I let myself go there, I'll lose my mind, I can't right now."
Aw, SAM!
Sam compartmentalizes his grief and jumps into take-care-of-everyone mode. He says they need to gather everyone together, and they need to find a location central to everyone. Well, I mean, there is one place I know of that is literally the central most point in the United States, maybe you could go there? It's supposed to be secure from all things supernatural, too. Dean says that while Sam is going that, he is going to go end what he started. OH, GOOD. I WAS HOPING THEY WOULD SPLIT UP. "We couldn't make Chuck pay, but Billie? She left her blade. Her I can kill." Hey, wouldn't be the first time. Sam agrees, Cas says he'll go with Dean, and we get a brother hug. Once again, Dean does the two things I love when he hugs Sam: 1. he puts his arms on top, as if he were still the taller brother, and b. he looks away and packs up his emotions before he lets Sam see his face after the hug. "Let's go, Cas," he says. "Let's go reap a reaper." Cas turns and follows without saying anything at all to Sam or Jack, but I'm sure that won't be an issue.
Time jump - it's daytime. Sam's on the phone with Donna, who is standing outside her truck (but didn't she used to have a big black SUV?) at that bridge we've seen so many times. She's sending him to "the old Harmon property," which should be just what he's looking for because it has an abandoned silo. I mean, I wouldn't jump immediately to abandoned silo, but maybe there weren't any abandoned warehouses around. She says it's in Hastings, just south of her, and if you think I didn't confirm that the town of Hastings is in fact about 30 minutes south of Stillwater, Minnesota then you just don't know me at all.
Sam is at a gas station and oh, he's driving Eileen's car! That's not heartbreaking at all. I guess she didn't have her keys in her pocket when she disappeared. (Hah, like Sam Winchester needs keys.) Donna and AU Bobby are rounding up everyone they can think of. She asks what the plan is, and Sam bends down creepily to look at Jack in the passenger seat and says "I'm still working on that." I mean, I know they keep telling us Jack lost his powers, but the way Sam looks at him right here certainly suggests Jack is part of the plan, and maybe not in a good way. (Spoiler alert: seriously, why do I even bother.)
Sam comes around to Jack's window and tells him he needs him to drive, because Sam needs to work on archives and spells and stuff. And is that true, or is this just "I don't expect you to live through this part so I want to let you have some time behind the wheel of Eileen's 1970 Plymouth Valiant?" (At least that's what The Husband thinks it is.)
Bunker. Enter Dean and Cas. Dean declares that if Billie isn't in her library, they'll just trash the place to "smoke her out." It's an interesting choice of words.
Foreshadowing Dean as the new Death? (Remember, I'm completely unspoiled. I know nothing.)
Silo. Let's stick to this location for now. Sam and Jack pull up and are greeted by Donna. Jack goes inside to set up the warding, and Donna gives Sam a nice hug.
I want to be there.
She tells him she's sorry about Eileen and gets one of his sad little nods that I love so much. Bobby is already here, and she name-drops Garth and Jody and the girls, saying they're on "high alert." Sam tells her they're not on Billie's list, so they should be safe. And so should Donna. Well, that's good to know. Sam's surprised to see Charlie pull up. She tells him "I just don't want this to happen to anyone else." I don't know what you think you're going to be able to do, Charlie, but okay.
Turns out the silo is actually a Tardis, so I guess maybe it was a good choice. It's huge on the inside, and is also more finished than any silo I've ever been in (which is, okay, one silo, but still.) The interior is already heavily warded. Several people are milling about. {Sidebar: How many hunters were away from the bunker when Michael attacked, and why have none of them returned?} Bobby tells Sam that as soon as the hunters heard he wanted them there, they came running. "Whether you like it or not, you're the big man here." Hey, I wonder if the guy who called him Chief is here. Bobby, being a man after my own heart, is mostly concerned about the bathroom situation. Sam hopes they won't be there long enough for it to be an issue. He has a spell from Rowena (!) that should boost the strength of the wards, but that's all he has. Bobby doesn't look very reassured, and glances in a foreshadowy way at a family with kids. Sam looks around at all of these people he feels responsible for and takes a deep breath and oh, my heart.
Donna and Jack are painting more wards. Jack bends down to look at a plant, and Donna comes up to him and says "I'm no expert on this hoodoo stuff, but best we patch that up, yeah?" and I don't know what the hell she's talking about. What is this plant disturbing? Jack reaches out to touch the plant and it withers away as his hand gets close. Friends, I'm pretty sure this is a bad sign. Jack is too. He stares at his hand, and if he'd been watching a few seasons ago, he would have noticed that plants did the same thing when Amara touched them. Coincidence???
Later we see everyone watch as Sam recites the spell. (Yes, it's hot. Do you even have to ask?) The sigils glow red briefly and then fade, and the music turns ominous and I think this means his boost failed. But I guess not, because Sam says now they wait. But they don't have to wait long, because suddenly one of the children dissolves into smoke. One by one, all of the AU people dissolve like they've been snapped by Thanos. Charlie runs up to Sam and says "Sam, what do we do" just like Maggie did, and just like Maggie she's taken out immediately. Sam watches in horror as AU Bobby smokes out. He turns to Donna, who says "Mr. Stark, I don't feel so good," and then Donna is gone! Crap! Jack and Sam are left staring at the empty-except-for-them silo.
One more serving of despair, coming right up.
On to the other side.
Dean enters Billie's library, brandishing the scythe. Cas follows, bearing only a hangdog expression. Dean motions for him to go one direction and Dean goes the other, soon finding Billie. He thinks he's sneaking up behind her, but she says "So, I guess this is the part where I say hello boys. Hello, boys." Oh, I was wrong; Cas has his angel blade. Billie snarks about Dean's bad aim, and he says he wasn't trying to kill her then (which seems like a lie), but he is now, because of what she's doing to his people. Billie slams him against the wall again. She chokes Cas Darth Vader-style from a distance, and then the old fashioned way. "Remember when you stabbed me in the back?" she says. "Because I do." Oh, that's funny, because earlier Sam said she was going to stab them in the back. She should have said "like you stabbed me?"
Dean comes to the rescue by poking her with the blunt end of the scythe rather than the pointy end, so maybe she was right about his bad aim. Then he gets the blade against her throat (but still not the sharp end, just the back) and demands that she stop killing his friends. She says she didn't - it was Chuck. And Dean's wasting time.
I'm considering it time well spent, because it looks so nice.
Billie tells Dean the injury he gave her earlier is something she can't recover from - she's going to die. She pulls away her coat to show him a nasty festering wound, and I wonder why something so physical would kill her, but. Eh. She tells him she doesn't care about his friends or family. "But seeing you here has reminded me of something. There is one thing I'd like. One wish before I go. I'd like to see you dead." She grabs her scythe back, flings the boys around, and slowly stalks toward them. Dean and Cas rush through the door back into the bunker.
Dean is panicky again, trying to figure out what to do next. He's suddenly struck down by chest pain, and I expect to see someone sticking a knife (or a scythe) in his back, but it's actually Billie doing it Darth Vader-style again. Cas drags him away as Billie monologues. "It's you, Dean; it's always been you. Death-defying. Rule-breaking. You are everything I lived to set right. To put down. To tame. You are human disorder incarnate." Yeah, we know, Dean's awesome. We get this speech every season.
Cas and Dean end up in the dungeon storeroom. Cas gets Dean's knife out of his pocket and cuts his own hand to paint a sigil on the door. It looks like an angel banishing sigil, but apparently it block's Billie's power. Not permanently, though, because it fades as she pounds on the door. Cas says that since the wound is killing her, they just have to wait her out.
Yeah, and if we can't?
Then we fight.
We'll lose. I just led us into another trap. All because I couldn't hurt Chuck. Because I was angry, and because I just needed something to kill, and because that's all I know how to do.
Dean.
It was Chuck all along. We never should have left Sam and Jack. We should be there with them now.
Yes you should, Dean, you really really should. Dean is practically drowning in despair, which, you know. Is a good thing. 10/10 would recommend. "She's gonna get through that door," he tells Cas. "And she's gonna kill you, and then she's gonna kill me. I'm sorry."
"Wait, there is one thing she's afraid of," Cas says. "There's one thing strong enough to stop her." He tells Dean about the deal he made to save Jack in the Empty.
Friends, I'm going to do you a favor. If you haven't seen the episode, and aren't planning to watch the episode, I want you to read this paragraph and then skip down until you see the pretty picture of Dean. And start reading after that picture. Trust me. So, Cas summons the Empty just as Billie breaks down the door. The Empty kills Billie, but she also takes Cas. Dean is saved but Cas is gone.
{Sigh. Can I skip this part? No, I owe it to you.}
Cas explains that the Empty was going to come snatch him away as soon as he experienced a moment of true happiness. But happiness isn't having, happiness is knowing. And Dean is wonderful and "Everything you have ever done, the good and the bad, you have done for love." You just threatened to shoot your little brother for love, for example. Cas is teary eyed and Dean looks confused as hell and I pause the TV and turn to The Husband and we have this conversation:
I don't think I can watch this.
Why, because it's so sappy?
No, because I think they're going to kiss.
What? Why would they kiss? Is there something I'm missing?
Because part of the fandom WANTS them to kiss, and there's this group of fans that are super obnoxious about it, and they harass the actors and the writers and I think now the show thinks EVERYBODY wants them to kiss. Even though the guy who plays Dean* says it would never happen. Because I know he wasn't happy about the way the show ended, and I'm afraid this is why he wasn't happy.
...
I don't think they're gonna kiss.
If they do, I'm done.
*The Husband is not on a first name basis with Jensen.
So, let me point out that The Husband, who watches this show the way a normal human being watches a show (i.e., doesn't interact with the fandom at all), had absolutely NO expectation that they would kiss. Anyway, with some trepidation, I push play again. And Cas is still going. Dean is the most caring, selfless, loving human being on earth (OH GOD MAKE IT STOP) and knowing him has changed Cas.
Why does this sound like a goodbye?
Because it is. I love you.
Don't do this, Cas.
We see a black blob materialize behind Dean, because even though the Empty can only come to Earth if it's summoned, there it is. And I could argue about whether Cas being happy actually summoned the damn thing but I've already lost the will to live, so instead I'm going to describe to you how I watched in horror, with my finger hovering over the pause button, as Cas reached out to Dean and put his hand on his shoulder. But he just pushed him out of the way. Thank you baby Jesus. Billie breaks the door down as the Empty slurps into the dungeon. It surrounds Cas and Billie and sucks them into its depths. Dean is left alone. Oh, and he has a bloody palm print on his jacket from Cas grabbing his shoulder. I guess someone did watch a little bit of older seasons after all. Hard to tell sometimes.
I mean, at least he looked good, right?
Back at the silo. I've decided it must be mostly underground and isn't a grain silo like I thought. So what kind of silo do Yankees have that's mostly underground? Anyway. Jack and Sam emerge, having failed catastrophically at their mission. Sam is trying to call Dean, who isn't answering. He looks mildly panicky. "Sam?" Jack says, a little shaky. "Was it just them?"
OH CRAP. I didn't even think of that possibility.
"I don't know," Sam says, also shaky. And as we see an empty gas station and playground, it really looks like it wasn't just them at all. Sam and Jack look at each other, alone and terrified. And back in the bunker's dungeon, Dean's phone rings. It's Sam. He doesn't answer.
Despair!
So. You know how sometimes something really good will happen in an episode? And I'll say, no matter how bad this episode is, this 90 seconds makes it worth it? Well, sometimes the opposite happens. Sometimes you get a two or three minute scene - a horribly written, badly acted scene - and it's so awful that it ruins an episode. A season. A show. I'm angry that the showrunners pandered to a small, noisy minority of fans to throw something into the show that most fans didn't want and didn't help the story at all. I'm annoyed that, once again, Dean is put up on an embarrassingly overwrought pedestal. I'm kind of amused that they did this in the worst way possible. Cas's love was unrequited (unless they screw that up in the next episode), Misha's acting caused so much secondhand embarrassment that I had a hard time watching again, and from what I see on Tumblr, half of the Destihellers are furious because "Dean is a homophobe." Which is bullshit. Not returning someone's romantic affection isn't homophobia. It's consent. (I know... on this show? Ha ha.)
{Sidebar: If "Destiel" means the characters have mutual feelings for each other, doesn't this mean Destiel is not, in fact, canon? I mean, it was already so badly written that one could argue Cas wasn't proclaiming romantic love, but just a life-changing experience thanks to one human. Discuss.}
But I need to stop thinking about it. I can't - if I let myself go there, I'll lose my mind, I can't right now.
And this wasn't even the Buckleming episode, friends. There is probably a Buckleming episode left.
I got so distracted by this nonsense that I almost forgot to talk about the Jack situation. So here's how I feel about that. I love Jack as a character. I love him as someone the Winchesters could lose (Basically, someone to stuff in the fridge? Why not.) But I don't want him to be one of them. I don't want Jack's story to be treated as if it were as important as the Winchester's story. Just like I didn't want Cas to have his own plots. I want it always, always to come down to Sam and Dean.
Anyway, I'm sure I'll have more to say. But for right now, all I'm saying is this: I pledge to stick with this show, to stick with fanworks, no matter how badly they fuck up the landing. But guys, you don't have to try so hard to fuck it up.
Two to go. As always, help me stay unspoiled, including casting info and episode titles.

***YOU AND ME MASTERLIST***
Walking into work the next morning you felt a lot better about the situation with Jensen. Talking to Alex always seemed to make you feel better.
He was right, maybe you were being a little too touchy, but you weren't exactly as ready to apologize as you thought you were. So you decided today when Jensen came in to record that you would just kind of avoid any contact with him that wasn’t strictly business. Not put yourself in a situation to get into any sort of conflict with him, and if he said something hurtful to you, you wouldn't let it get to you.
"What's up Justin," you say, flopping down in your chair in the recording room.
Justin looked a little afraid. Like he had something to tell you and was afraid of what you would do when he told you.
"Y/n...I got some bad news this morning, please don't shoot the messenger," he said, holding his hands up in surrender.
You narrowed your eyes at him and gave him your best deadpan bitchface you could come up with.
"Okay... That depends on what you're about to tell me."
What the hell can go wrong now?
"Jennifer called and quit this morning. She wouldn't tell us why. We tried everything to make her stay, but she refused. Steve wrote and emailed her a letter of recommendation so that she can find her another job quickly, but that's gonna put you bringing Jensen whatever he needs until we can find a replacement."
He put his hands up in a defensive pose waiting for you to throw something at him, saying everything he had to say in a rush.
"She quit," was all you could say, shocked at what you were hearing.
Why in the world did she quit? She was all excited to work with Jensen yesterday. She was such a big fan of his work. Head over heels for the man. You hadn't noticed him being rude or mean to her at all. What the hell happened overnight?
Your thoughts were interrupted by Jensen and Jared walking into the recording room. Jensen said nothing, just kept his head down, and stood quietly behind Jared.
Jared on the other hand seemed to be in a good mood as always, joking and laughing at everyone in the room.
"Ready to get started?" Justin asked Jensen. He just shook his head, avoiding eye contact with everyone in the room.
He made his way with his head still down, staring at the floor, towards the recording room. He looked horrible. He was pale, and he looked absolutely exhausted.
All the anger you had seemed to fade at that moment, and concern took its place. Why the hell did you even care?
"Okay, take it from the top Mr. Ackles," you tell him as he situates himself on the stool with his guitar.
You had never seen him so quiet. You give Jared a questioning look, and he just shrugs.
After about five takes of the same song, you call for him to take a break. He seemed distracted, and if he couldn’t get it together you were going to just tell him that it might be best to come back and take it from the top tomorrow.
Finally, he spoke to you for the first time that day.
"Y/N? Can you bring me some coffee, please?"
The soft, polite tone that he took with you threw you for a lope. You just sat there blinking at Jared and Justin who sat there staring back at you, just as taken aback as you were.
"Sh...Sure," you tell him, standing to go and get him his coffee.
"Is he sick or something?" you asked Jared as you headed for the door.
"No idea. He's been quiet all morning," he said, watching his friend through the glass. A worried look on his face.
You grabbed the coffee quickly and opened the door to the room Jensen was sitting in, looking down at his feet, and strumming ideally on his guitar. He looked like he was a thousand miles away from yourself and this little room.
He looks up at you and takes the coffee from your hand. His fingers brushing yours briefly. Your stomach did a flip that surprised you.
“This guy's an ass Y/N. Don't let his good looks get you,” you think to yourself, trying to ignore the number of butterflies that seemed to take flight in your stomach.
"Thanks," he mumbled and looked back down at his feet. You were just about to walk out the door when he spoke up again.
"Where is Jennifer?" he asked, you tried to ignore the jealousy and the annoyance at the way he seemed to favor the young girl over you. Still, you couldn’t deny it gnawed at you.
"She's no longer employed here. Called in, and left this morning," you tell him shortly, unable to completely hide your annoyance like you wished you could have.
He just nodded his head, looking back down at his feet again almost like a dog that had been kicked too hard too many times.
“Did she turn him down or something?” you think to yourself as you take your seat in the recording room again. The thought of that makes you smirk just a little.
"Okay, Mr. Ackles one more time, and we should have it. Then we can wrap for today okay?" you say into the speaker.
He just nods his head and starts strumming again. Jared never took his eyes off his friend, staring at him and trying to read behind whatever Jensen was hiding, because something was very, very wrong.
Time Jump One week.
Jensen sat in the almost empty bar owned by his best friend looking out over all the empty tables as the music played softly around him.
It was late, very late. Jared was already gone home, asking him if he would keep an eye on the new bartender he'd hired today.
Shep had contracted a stomach bug, and Gen needed help with the kids.
Sitting at the end of the bar watching the young boy count down the register Jensen heard the bell ding as the door opened. He turned to see two very large men enter the bar and sit down on either side of him. As soon as they did an uneasy feeling hit Jensen right in the pit of his stomach.
"Sorry, guys I forgot to lock the door. We're closed,” Jensen said, looking back and forth between the two men.
"Oh come on Jensen, just one little shot for me and my boys," The rather large man said that was sitting to his left.
He was heavily tattooed. Several teardrop tattoos under his eye told Jensen he'd done some jail time. Maybe it was a good idea to just give the guy the shots then they could go.
Jensen signaled to the young bartender to give the men the shots when two other men came in and sat down at the table directly behind Jensen and the two other men. Jensen knew that they were all together, it was obvious, and they weren’t really trying to hide it.
Jensen swallowed hard, looking over at the young bartender.
"Son, why don't you go ahead and take that to the back and put it in the safe. We'll let them have this one on the house and then they can be on their way."
With that, the boy who was just as anxious to get away from the men as Jensen was to get him away from them did as he was told. As soon as the office door shut the man to his left placed a heavy hand on his shoulder, gripping it painfully.
"You're gonna come with us, pretty boy. You and I are going to have a little chat about what you did to my little sister last week,”
Standing up the man on his right gripped his other shoulder, and Jensen’s stomach fell to his feel.
“You're a hard one to find you know," he snarled, looking at Jensen like he was a piece of meat.
Jensen swallowed hard. He was screwed and he knew it. He stood quickly and swung at the man to his right that was holding his shoulder, hoping his years of playing a hunter on TV had paid off.
Before his fist even met the man's face the other three men grabbed Jensen and threw him over one of the tables in the bar, tying his hands together with a twist ty tightly. The large tattooed man clicked his tongue disapprovingly at Jensen, then leaned down, pressing all his body weight onto Jensen’s back, licking the side of his neck. His hot breath and tongue made Jensen’s stomach lurch, and he fought against the uncontrollable urge to throw up.
"You shouldn't have done that boy," he said, as he stood up, and the other men hauled Jensen to his feet, slapping silver duct tape over his mouth they started dragging him out the front door. Jensen struggled the best he could. Before he reached the street something hard came down on his head.
A sharp pain shot through his body, and everything went black. If only it had stayed black.
